WWE 2001: THE MCMAHON ERA

 

WWF STORY : MAY 2001

 

The story at this point is a bit different then in real life. On the last episode of WCW Nitro, it was Vince McMahon that announce the purchase of WCW and not Shane McMahon. The rivalry between the two McMahons didn’t go further than Wrestle Mania X-7. Vince McMahon had the power of the wrestling business. For the month of April, the owner of WWF didn’t sign any former WCW employee but that was about to chance just after Backlash 2001.

The Brothers of Destruction, Kane and Undertaker are still feuding with the Two Man Power Trip, Steve Austin and Triple H for the power of WWF. Triple H and Austin winning the Tag Team Titles at Backlash in a match for the ages. The feud isn’t over when May comes and they will still be fighting threw out the first month of the dynasty.

Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle have also been feuding for some time and they will go one with they battle to see who the best technical wrestler of the WWF is. Chris Benoit just beat Kurt Angle in a Ultimate Submission Match at Backlash, but the Olympic Gold medalist is not finish with Chris Benoit and the feud will continue.

On a lighter note, Chris Jericho is also still feuding with William Regal. This feud being more of a comedy angle than anything else, Chris Jericho came out victorious of the Duchess of Queensbury match at Backlash, but William Regal might have find a way to get back at Chris Jericho, we will see what Regal have in store for Jericho very soon.

One other feud that can’t seem to be ending is the battle for the Tag Team supremacy. The Hardy Boyz, Dudley Boyz and Edge/Christian have been fighting for some time, but no one have emerge victorious without a doubt. They will keep fight until there is nothing left. But the emergence of new teams might chance things in the Tag Team division. WCW had many good teams and we could see the beginning of new teams soon that might join this Chaos.

Finally, returning to the McMahons, Shane McMahon is taking a break after a very hard match at Backlash against the Big Show. Big Show did what he had to do even in defeat and that was to destroy Shane. Vince McMahon will now return to his favorite pass time and make the life of the fan favorites a living hell. Vince and Big Show are now going after…The Rock!
