SWF: Struggle For Supemacy“Every quarrel begins in nothing, but ends in a struggle for supremacy”

It's Getting Crowded At The Top

The SWF has ruled as the dominant force in American wrestling for well over two decades, ever since Richard Eisen dreamt up and marketed the concept of “Sports Entertainment” to the American public, single-handedly destroying the old territorial system. The SWF has arguably since become the most successful wrestling promotion to have ever existed, however the company enters 2013 facing arguably the greatest threat to their long running dominance of the American professional wresting scene. Long term rivals TCW, headed up by Tommy Cornell, continue to stand opposite the SWF in the 'Tuesday Night Wars'. While the SWF have successfully prevented TCW from rising to the point of matching the SWF's popularity, they have also never managed to get rid of TCW in the way they have so many of their previous rivals. Perhaps more worrying for the company is the incredible rise of USPW over the past three years. Previously seen as something of a joke, a throwback to the past, USPW are now the fastest rising promotion in all of pro-wrestling. Led by the legendary Sam Strong, USPW are the first promotion to seriously challenge the SWF-TCW domination of American wrestling.

It is unheard of for three National wrestling promotions to be operating within the borders of a single country, and the recent struggles between the 'big three' down in Mexico suggest that such a situation will be unsustainable and is likely to be highly volatile. It would appear that something has got to give, and there are rumours of big shake ups in all three promotions as each tries to capture a new audience. It remains unclear who will survive the storm, but it promises to be a hell of a ride...

In order for one man to succeed, another must fail

Self interest rules within the SWF. Every person who arrives at the SWF does so with a specific goal in mind. While these goals may vary, the method of achieving them is invariably the same. Whether you are striving for financial rewards, fan acclaim or championship belts, the most effective way of achieving any of these goals is to get the job done in the ring and pick up those wins.

While it's true that factions and alliances form, and some even find success, these alliances generally exist to further the ambitions of those involved. Once the alliance ceases to serve that purpose, they are often shown to have been built on very shaky foundations. While some alliances will stand the test of time, the vast majority fall by the wayside due to the nature of the environment they were created within.

With so many overlapping goals and dreams, confrontation is inevitable... and over the past two decades this confrontation has come to define Supreme TV.

<span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Breaking News...</strong></span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="font-family:Impact;"><span style="font-size:24px;">Peter Michaels leaves post as head booker. Duane Fry confirmed as replacement.</span></span></p></div><p></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">The Supreme Wrestling Federation last night issued a statement that </span></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><strong>Peter Michaels</strong></span></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> had stepped down from his position as Head Booker with immediate effect. The SWF stated that the decision had been reached by 'mutual agreement', and was keen to stress that Peter Michaels would retain his role as lead announcer on Supreme TV on Tuesday nights. Michaels' reign as head booker at the promotion is generally regarded by fans as having been largely successful. Michaels is probably most famous for having masterminded the wildly successful 'Jack Bruce Under Pressure' storyline that proved the catalyst to propel Jack Bruce to his current standing as the most popular babyface in North America.</span></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

However, in recent times there been rumblings of discontent within the Supreme Nation that Michaels' product was becoming stale. While this was a minority view, some observers, particularly within the IWC, pointed to USPW's recent rise as evidence that Michaels had lost grip with the modern viewer. Another claim made by this group was that Michaels had relied too heavily on ageing stars for too long, and that the recent move to make Steve Frehley World Champion had been a panic play to try and bring down the average age at the top of the card.</span></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

Whether you hold these minority views or not, it is clear this wasn't a sudden decision. The SWF have wasted no time in naming Michaels immediate successor, who is to be none other than his protege, and partner at the announce table every Tuesday night, </span></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><strong>Duane Fry</strong></span></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">. Fry, while only 30 years old, is a 12 year veteran of the SWF having joined the company on his 18th birthday as a lowly researcher. Since then Fry has worked his way up from the bottom to become one of the most accomplished announcers in all of pro-wrestling, and an integral part of Supreme TV. However impressive his rise may be, Fry still has the unenviable task of taking over from one of the best creative minds in Supreme wrestling history. Whether the quint-essential company man can make the jump to head booker, and connect with a younger audience, remains to be seen...</span></div></div><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<p>Thank you to everyone who has commented so far for the kind words. This project has been in the works for a long time now, I've got a lot of fun ideas I want to run with (at least I think so) and I can't wait to get started with it. First show is almost in the bag, so expect the first card to go up either later tonight or tomorrow.</p><p> </p><p>

<p><strong>Angry Gilmore </strong>vs F.A.G </p><p>

[North American Title Match]</p><p> </p><p>

Gilmore drops it soon I think, but not on the first show of the year.</p><p> </p><p>

The Awesomeness vs <strong>The Pain Alliance</strong></p><p>

[Tag Team Match]</p><p> </p><p>

The Awesomeness has a great future, but for now they remain lower on the card and The Pain Alliance gets some momentum for a title shot.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Valiant</strong> vs Marc DuBois</p><p>

[singles Match]</p><p> </p><p>

I want to like DuBois, but his attitude just makes it hard to see him go anywhere above the midcard while Valiant is a future main eventer.</p><p> </p><p>

Lobster Warrior vs <strong>Squeeky McClean</strong></p><p>

[singles Match]</p><p> </p><p>

McClean wins, but not in a clean fashion by a long shot. Cheating galore!</p><p> </p><p>

Christian Faith vs <strong>Remo</strong></p><p>

[singles Match]</p><p> </p><p>

Faith is the man, but Remo is looking to challenge for the title and he needs to make a statement. This is a good place to do so.</p>

<p><strong>Angry Gilmore</strong> vs F.A.G [North American Title Match]</p><p><em>

Gilmore is not losing the title this quick (and not to F.A.G.)</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The Awesomeness vs <strong>Pain Alliance</strong></p><p>

<em>Pain Alliance is in the storyline for the title, so they'll get some momentum here</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Valiant</strong> vs Marc DuBois</p><p>

<em>Valiant needs to be built up, although I like Dubois more</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Lobster Warrior</strong> vs Squeeky McClean</p><p>

<em>Lobby needs some momentum if he is to be taken seriously going up against Khoklov</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Christian Faith vs <strong>Remo</strong></p><p>

<em>Remo wins, perhaps by interference of Prudence?</em></p>

<strong>The Awesomeness</strong> vs The Pain Alliance</p><p>

[Tag Team Match]</p><p>

<em>Honestly, Biggz in Japan is going to take the #1 contender spot, after a victory they'll be just as over as the Pain Alliance. The Awesomeness are managed by Dawn, so they get the victory here</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Valiant</strong> vs Marc DuBois</p><p>

[singles Match]</p><p>

<em>The question is: How does this tie into Chase For the Title?</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Lobster Warrior</strong>vs Squeeky McClean</p><p>

[singles Match]</p><p>

<em>Squeeky and Lobbie have so much in common... aging stars held back by a cheesy gimmick. Lobster Warrior is more deserving of a pop here.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Christian Faith vs <strong>Remo</strong></p><p>

[singles Match]</p><p>

<em>Remo gets the shot going into When Hell Freezes over... Faith is aging quickly.</em></p>
