Adding weight divisions

Recommended Posts

I would like some advice on adding a weight division mid-game.

I started with my own promotion, with just Welterweight and Middleweight divisions, with the aim of buying out other promotions (I normally skip ahead weeks at a time, and miss the opportunity).

It is now 2002. I own KDM and WEFF and I've just risen to Low National level and secured a TV deal (I intend to run it monthly, in addition to my monthly shows).

I would like to add a new weight division, to add variety, allow my fighters more time to prepare for fights and to increase my competitive credibility, but have never done this before. I'm having a lot of trouble working out which to add.

Here's the situation:

There are 12 companies in the game world.

The two under my control both have a Women's Division. WEFF has lots of the ranked female fighters. KDM also has Featherweight and Lightweight - fairly strong, but most have name value only in Asia.

Of the other 9, 8 have Lightweight to Light Heavyweight and 7 have Heavyweight. Just 3 have Featherweight and 2 have Women.

I have around 33 fighters in my Welterweight and Middleweight divisions; the former is stronger (the best part of buying out KDM is getting Atep of Indonesia, Benny Danare and Ahmed Mohamed Farag)

As I see it, these are the pros and cons of the options:

Women's Division

+ Two feeder companies; can transfer a number of contracts to start it off, then pick up more of their good talent over time

+ Quite easy to get ranked fighters due to few other companies having this division

- Can't transfer any of my existing roster to it

Featherweight Division

+ One feeder company

+ Easiest male division to get ranked fighters

- Can't transfer any of my existing roster

Lightweight Division

+ One feeder company

+ Can transfer some of my existing fighters to it

- Harder to get ranked fighters

Light Heavyweight Division

+ Can transfer some of my existing fighters

- No feeder company

- Hard to get ranked fighters

I really only want one more division because I can't stand having too many more contracts to handle (can't wait for a new system in WMMA 4!).

Advice would be appreciated. :)

You probably have the majority of the best female fighters in your child promotions (unless XCC or some new promotion has signed them away), so there's a good chance you could improve your competitive credibility right away by transferring contracts, instead of having to build up to that or take stars away from one of your current divisions.</p><p> </p><p> Even after the bump up to Low Level National, I imagine the women have enough name value to work with, at least for your undercard. If I had already bought the promotions, I'd go ahead and pull the trigger on that division.</p>

Yeah, go with the womens division. You can cherry pick the finest talent in the game with the best skills.

Take it easy on the title match, maybe create some multi-month tournaments leading up to the final, that way the finalists will have name value when the tournament ends.

Whatever WEFF/KDM loses in womens competitors you can replace with gens and other low-level talent, the moment they become good then you can cherry pick em again and send the losers back down for a few good wins.

<p>Thank you both; that does seem like the best option.</p><p> </p><p>

XCC only has 10 women and EMMA has so many divisions that its women rarely get a chance to fight, so we will have pretty much exclusive reign over the female talent.</p><p> </p><p>

It took a bit of fiddling, but I eventually got a weight class which recognised all my fighters and still counted towards competitive credibility.</p><p> </p><p>

Thanks for your help. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
