CPFC interview with Scott Avatar.

I recent sat down with the CEO of the new fight organization, CPFC, Scott Avatar, here it is:

What is Canada Prize Fighting Championships?

CPFC, is going to be a 'unique' fight organization, unlike the UFC, CPFC uses a ring, not an octagon. Also CPFC have non-title fights as 1, 10 minutes round and 2 5 minutes rounds. With title fights being 1, 10 minutes round, and 4 5 minutes rounds.

Why are you guys having the rounds set up like that?

I liked the way PRIDE dd their round system, and I felt like this one will allow for a fast, action pact 1st round, and the next 1-4 rounds, allow a finish should there not be a finish in the 1st.

Will you guys be using the same judging criteria as other popular MMA companies?

No, we fell that judges in MMA are not the best, and instead of having bad judges, we decided to, and have talked to all the commisions, to not have any judges for any fights, and should a fight not be finished before the end of the rounds, it will be considered a draw. We also feel that this will lead to more finishes as people would rather try to submit or knockout their opponent, then dry hump a fighter to a draw.

What are the weight classes?

The weight classes will be the same as the UFC weight classes, besides the female strawweight.

Any news about your first event?

Yes, all I can say right now, the main event will be Tim Hague versus, Bobby Peavler.

What about broadcasting?

The first event, and currently all events will be aired live on our website. The commentary for the events will be Mauro Ranallo and Mark Homminick, unless one of them can not make it, and will be replaced for that event.

Any other news?

Right now, no. Another other questions?

No, thanks for taking the time for this interview.

No problem, look out for a full announcement of CPFC 1, in the future.

CPFC 1, Post-Fight Press-Conference.

After last-nights CPFC 1, there was a post-fight press conference and Blurcat was there live and has a transcript of it.

Scott Avatar: Hello, and welcome to the CPFC 1, post-fight press-conference. If you have any questions, please notify one of the staff members and they will give you a free microphone.

*A few seconds later*

Reporter: Hi, you said before this event you guys said that you will not be using judges, and it kind of worked, however the Branco-Finney fight swayed your thoughts at all?

Scott Avatar: No, it is only the first event, and we had 4 out of 5 fights that finished before the end of the time. I'd rather have fighters trying to finish each other, then one fighter dominate the other and not finish them.

Reporter: What about title fights and judges?

Scott Avatar: Should the a title fight not be a finish, then nether one wanted it hard enough.

Reporter: Do you guys have any end of the night awards, like the UFC?

Scott Avatar: Yes, Ryan Ford won both best fight and best submission, with Dusty Arden winning best fight too. Ryan Ford gets 400 and Dusty Arden gets 200.

Reporter: Where and when do you guys hope to have the next event?

Scott Avatar: In a couple of months, and the location has not yet been determined, could be back here, could be in Toronto, Ottawa, anywhere in Canada, really.

Reporter: Will the next event contain a title fight?

Scott Avatar: Right now, no, but things could change. Anymore questions? No, ok thanks for coming and have a good night.
