[FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN!, APRIL, WEEK 1, 2002] First of All - Details. ROSTER: SMACKDOWN! Face: Wrestlers Hulk Hogan The Rock Matt Hardy Edge Farooq Rikishi Al Snow Perry Saturn Scotty 2 Hotty Val Venis Albert The Godfather Billy Kidman The Hurricane Mark Henry Funaki Tyson Duk Maven Heel: Wrestlers Kurt Angle Chris Jericho Diamond Dallas Page Test D-Von Dudley Christian Hugh Morrus Hardcore Holly Chuck Palumbo Billy Mike Awesome Chavo Guerrero Lance Storm Tajiri Rico Batista MANAGERS: Teddy Long (Face) [Managing: Albert] Torrie Wilson (Face) [Managing: Val Venis] Stacy Keibler (Heel) [Managing: Christian] Stephanie McMahon (Heel) [Managing: Chris Jericho] ANNOUNCING TEAM: Michael Cole (Face) Taz (Heel) Vince McMahon (Heel) GM of RAW: Linda McMahon and Adam Sandler Interviewer: Kevin Kelly LET'S BEGIN ! [WEEK 1, APRIL 2002] [Friday Night SmackDown!] [NJ Izod Center, Tri State] [Attendance: 20.213] 1. Linda McMahon opens up the "First Ever" Brand Split SmackDown! She says that after the WWF Brand Split, Unfortunately, all of the Champions were drafted to RAW... She says that this is a chance for us to bring back the WWF World Heavyweight Championship ! Also, only the WWF World Heavyweight Championship is not enough to have so she also brings back the WWF United States Championship to SmackDown! She says that tonight is the night where a NEW era begins... Tonight, we will see an 8 man tournament for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship ! She claims, that the computer randomly chosen the competitors of the Tournament... Those 8 men are: Diamond Dallas Page !, Farooq !, Chris Jericho !, Hulk Hogan !, Rikishi !, Christian !, Kurt Angle !, and THE ROCK ! She mentions that tonight we will see first 4 fights of the Tournament ! Tonight we will see the ROUND 1. She doesn't say who will face who, because her computer didn't chose that yet... 2. MATCH #1 [Chuck Palumbo vs. Hardcore Holly vs. Al Snow] Hardcore Holly and Chuck tried to work together against Al Snow.. Al Snow is on fire tonight and he keeps strong He throws Holly out of the ring and does a finisher on Chuck.. Someone coming down the ramp... I think his name is Batista, but I'm not sure.. I have never seen someone like this... He looks like a Devil... A Satan himself.. Al Snow doesn't know what is going on.. Why someone is coming towards him?! Batista slowly enters the ring and looks right to Al Snows face.. Al Snow shows Batista to get out of here, but suddenly gets Clotheslined! Chuck is rolling out of the ring.. He and Hardcore Holly are watching what is going to happen.... Batista picks up Al Snow and Clotheslines him again ! He looks angry for some reason ! BOOM ! Batista does a sit-out Powerbomb.. What force... I think that Al Snow may even stopped breathing... Batista looks to Chuck and Holly next.. What is going on ?!? Who is that man ? Chuck and Holly backs away from the ring.... Batista starts walking towards them.... And Holly with Chuck starts running to the backstage... Batista slowly walks to the back and he looks possessed or something like that.... 3. We see Kevin Kelly backstage, where he is with The Rock. Kevin asks The Rock about the upcoming tournament and who he would like to face here tonight. The Rock says that it doesn't matter who The Rock will face here tonight on SmackDown! He says that last sunday at WretleMania X8 he defeated Hulk Hogan and now he feels invincible.. The Rock thinks that he and Hulk Hogan will be in the finals and face each other again.. The Rock respects Hogan, but The Rock and Hogan knows who is the winner between these two.. 4. MATCH #2 [Matt Hardy vs. Test] Open match, and both men kept strong.. Both men are gaining advantages at times, but no one gets momentum on their side.. Christian suddenly interfered the match and attacked Matt Hardy. Test was disqualified and Matt Hardy won the match.. 5. Christian keeps beating down Matt Hardy and Test looks shocked what the hell is going on ?! He shoves Christian off Matt Hardy and they now look eye to eye... Suddenly Test and Christian smiles to each other and both keep beating Matt Hardy to the mat.. Edge music hits !!! He runs to the ring at full speed !! Test and Christian looks shocked.. Edge enters the ring and attacks both men with punches ! Christian manages to throw a punch to Edge on his own, but Matt Hardy recovers and helps Edge now.. Edge and Matt Hardy both fight off Christian and Test.. Christian and Test rolls out of the ring.. They are angry and promises a revenge for this ! They're slowly going to the back, while Edge and Matt Hardy shakes hands and poses to the fans ! 6. MATCH #3 - FIRST MATCH of ROUND 1 [Rikishi vs. Chris Jericho] Open match, but Rikishi kept strong.. Chris Jericho hits a low blow to Rikishi and Rolls him for the pin, but Rikishi kicks out.. Jericho looks angry and he hits the Walls of Jericho on Rikishi... Rikishi looks desperate and in Pain.. After a long battle with the Walls of Jericho, Rikishi finally decided to tap out.. 7. Chris Jericho takes a mic from the announcer.. He looks pissed off and has something important to say.. He says that The Rock was asked about the tournament earlier on. He mentioned Hulk Hogan but he didn't hear Chris Jericho's name... He says that THAT pisses him off.. He says that The Rock can stop dreaming.. If The Rock has forgotten, Chris Jericho had beaten him in the past. And he will do that again if The Rock will make it to the finals ! He says that we all should get used to the fact that Chris Jericho will be the WWF World Heavyweight Champion AGAIN ! 8. MATCH #4 - SECOND MATCH of ROUND 1 [Farooq vs. Christian] Farooq kept strong and Christian looks tired after what happened earlier on tonight... Christian tried to use illegal tactics, but Farooq looked strong anyways... Test suddenly walks to the ring slowly.. Farooq looks at Test and asks the referee to watch him until the match is over... Test tries to enter the ring but the ref doesn't let him... Christian takes a chair from out of the ring and hits Farooq right to the head with it... Test says the ref to watch the match and that he is leaving.. Christian pins Farooq to the 3 count and wins the match... 9. We see Kevin Kelly backstage with Diamond Dallas Page who is asked about his upcoming match in the Tournament.. Diamond Dallas Page reveals that he will face The Rock up-next. Also mentions that he will finally shut The Rock up. DDP says that he is tired to see The Rock acting almighty and invincible, because he's not. He also says that anybody could defeat Hulk Hogan these days, because he's old as this business is. 10. MATCH #5 - THIRD MATCH of ROUND 1 [Diamond Dallas Page vs. The Rock] The Rock kept strong in this match. The Rock looks very dangerous and strong in this one. He looks exactly like the Champ should look like.. The Rock proves that he's not just "talk" he can also fight.. The Rock wins the match cleanly after The Rock Bottom and goes on to the Semi Finals.. 11. The Rock takes a mic from the announcer... He's got something to say to Chris Jericho.. He says that he's sorry for not mentioning Chris Jericho earlier tonight, He didn't thought that it means a lot to Chris Jericho to be mentioned by The Rock.. Anyways, he sincerely thinks that Hulk Hogan or Kurt Angle, the winner of the last match of the First Round of the Tournament tonight, will face The Rock in the Finals. He also says that as much as he wanted to face Chris Jericho and shut his monkey ass in the finals, he just don't see that happening.. He says that he is sorry for Chris Jericho, but it's not The Rock's fault, that Y2J sucks. 12. MATCH #6 - FOURTH MATCH of ROUND 1 [Kurt Angle vs. Hulk Hogan] Very open match.. Both men kept strong.. The fight starts to spread out of the ring near the announce table.. Both men are out of control, they start brawling and they look very equal.. The Ref counts to 10 and decides that this match is DRAW because of the Double Count Out. 13. They still brawl and are not reacting to the refs decision.. Finally Kurt Angle takes a chair and tries to hit Hogan, but Hogan gets out of the way... Hogan connects with a Big Boot to Kurt Angle.. Angle looks out and cold.... Hulk takes a mic from the announcer.. Hogan asks GM for a re-match, because this was out of control... He says that he just couldn't hear the ref counting... Suddenly Adam Sandler comes out without music and everybody looks shocked ! It's Adam Sandler !!! He says that he would like to announce that Linda has already left the building, because she had to for some reason... Also says that he would like to announce the BIGGEST NEWS ever. He says that he had bought 75% of the WWE company and has most of the rights of the WWE. Although it's strange that he cannot fire anyone, or change the rules, he can still control the company.. He says that he gives Hogan the re-match he wants.. But not tonight ! He says that tonight both men were Disqualified and they are BOTH out of the tournament.. But as he promised, the re-match WILL happen. And the Re-Match will take place on the next PPV - BACKLASH. THANKS FOR WATCHING MY VERY FIRST FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN !!!!
