[starting off the show with a flurry of fireworks, and a very pumped up crowd from the Illinois United Center, Raw is War is clearly ready to begin as announcers Jerry “The King” Lawler and Jim Ross hype the night of wrestling that we have in store for all the WWF fans here tonight!]

Jim Ross: Welcome everyone to Monday Night Raw is War, where we come to you live for a night of action right from the United Center in Illinois! And we are only 6 days away from one of the greatest nights in this industry: the Royal Rumble!

 

Jerry Lawler: That’s right JR, this crowd is clearly pumped up, and I’ve heard a rumor from the back that Shawn Michaels will make his first appearance on Raw after that vicious attack from the monster Kane two weeks ago!

 

Jim Ross: Well, I’m certainly interested to hear what the WWF Champion has to say about his opponent, considering that the same man that he’ll be facing in two weeks, put him in the hospital! I mean you gotta wonder what Michaels is thinking here! Oh look, it’s him… That evil, sick Paul Bearer..

[Coming out to a flurry of boos from the capacity crowd, Paul Bearer comes out to the ring, with Kane at his side. Sauntering towards the ring, he grabs a microphone and begins to speak.]

 

Paul Bearer: This past month, has shown the power of my son, Kane.. Oh yes... But everyone, the worst thing about all of this, is that it’s just starting. This is the beginning of the conquering of the WWF, starting when my son, when he wins the WWF Title at the Royal Rumble as he crushes the pathetic Shawn Michaels. It’s taken 2 weeks for him to stand up, and tell me that he is afraid of the beating he will get at the royal rumble this Sunday Night. I mean, 1 by 1, every person that has tried to stop Kane has been crushed, every single 1, oh yes. Vader tried to stop him, Triple H tried to stop him, Shawn Michaels tried to stop him. Even the “immortal Undertaker tried to stop him. And you know what happened?

 

 

1 by 1, each one of those men were destroyed with a Tombstone Piledriver, and it will be no different at the Royal Rumble! Now Michaels--

 

[interrupting Bearer mid sentence, Shawn Michael’s face suddenly appears on the titantron, looking very grim as he is still in the hospital, suffering the effects from the vicious beatdown from Kane 2 weeks ago. But Michaels is not afraid as he begins to speak to the roar of the crowd.]

Shawn Michaels: I’m gonna have to stop you right there Paul, you know something? These past 2 weeks, I’ve been worrying about my career, about if someday, years from now, if I’ll feel these effects for the rest of my life. Because as soon as I got to that hospital, I was told that there was a chance that I would not be able to wrestle ever again, that my neck was nearly broken, that I had a concussion. Well, you know what I did? I said, “screw them!” Because at the Royal Rumble this Sunday Night, you will not get the cowardly little weasel that you got two weeks ago, Kane, you will be facing “The Icon, the Main Event, the Showstopper,” and most importantly Kane, you will be facing the World Wrestling Federation Champion: “The Heart Break Kid,” Shawn Michaels as I once again prove who the top dog is here in the WWF! Kane, you might take me down, but I know one thing, I’m taking you down with me!

Ahmed show-off his strength in the off-set of this match as Savio would have to go to the floor to regroup. Savio would come back focusing on the arm of Ahmed, using arm wringers and arm related moves to break it down. Ahmed would comeback with a series of power moves to escape the punishment, after a little while to recoup Ahmed would hit the Pearl River Plunge for the win.

Following the commercial break, we are immediately backstage with interviewer Michael Cole, who earlier today said that he will interview a member of the Royal Rumble.

 

Michael Cole: Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome the winner of the 1997 Royal Rumble, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Now Steve, what’re your thoughts on entering the Rumble this year?

After I do what should’ve been done a long time ago, I will once again raise hell as I throw 29 other jackasses over that top rope, and that’s the bottom line... ‘Cause Stone Cold said so!

 

[As Austin finishes talking, Goldust comes in and grabs the microphone from Michael Cole as Austin just stares. Before he can say a word however, he instantly gets hits by a Stunner by Austin, as he builds up the heat for their match in less than a week at the Royal Rumble.]

Ken Shamrock V.S. Farooq

 

Farooq started the match with some strong offense against the unstable Shamrock. As the match would go on Ken would get an advantage after some technical maneuvers. Eventually Farooq would hit a spinebuster that everyone thought would end Kenny but he would kick out. Farooq would then pick up Shamrock and out of no Shamrock hit a belly-to-belly on Farooq. Shamrock locks on the Ankle Lock and after a minute Farooq taps and Shamrock wins.

After Shamrock goes to celebrate, he quickly finds himself ambushed by the Nation of Domination with the Intercontinental Champion, The Rock leading to charge. After a minute of vicious stomping, the Rock shouts at D’Lo to grab him the Intercontinental Title while he tells Kama and Mark Henry to pick up the beaten down Ken Shamrock. After a few moments of anticipation, the Rock hits Shamrock with a vile shot in the face with the Intercontinental Title, before placing it over Shamrock’s head as he lays on the ground. Motioning for the People’s Elbow, Rock hits it as Jim Ross screams for him not to do it. Satisfied with his work, the Nation walks out of the ring as the crowd boos when we go to commercial.

Returning from the break, the WWF Tag Team Champions, the New Age Outlaws are already in the ring with the microphone as they begin to speak to many boos from the sold out crowd tonight in the United Center in Illinois.

New Age Outlaws V.S. New Blackjacks

 

The Blackjacks showed off right off in the beginning by man handling Road Dogg. Dogg would tag Billy who held his own better then Road Dogg did. Bradshaw and Windham would try and make some comebacks after The Outlaws started rolling but to no avail. Billy would hit the Fame Asser and get the win.

Jim Ross: What a great tag team match that was, but as was announced earlier this week, Vince McMahon has said that he will reveal one of the men competing in the Light Heavyweight Tournament, which starts this Sunday Night, live on Pay Per View at the Royal Rumble!

 

 

[Going to the titantron, a video starts, showing a masked man doing hurricanranas, over the top rope flips, incredible high flying moves that have never been seen in the WWF. After a minute of these highlights, the man turns around to face the camera as fire starts to cover the screen. After a few moments, the fire spells out Jushin Thunder Liger. We go back to the crowd who are murmuring in amazement as we go to commercial.

Owen Hart V.S Marc Mero

In a match filled with a ton of energy, Marc Mero quickly gained the advantage with his power, just pummeling Owen to the ground with lefts and rights. After a few minutes of domination, Hart was able to turn it around with a missile dropkick from the top rope, and continued to gain momentum from there, controlling the match with his speed and agility, before making Mero tap out to the Sharpshooter.

After the match while Owen is celebrating, Triple H comes out to the stage with a microphone, looking cockier than ever with his bodyguard Chyna by his side. With boos sounding throughout the arena, the European Champion begins to speak.

 

Triple H: Owen, congrats on your win tonight, but the momentum that you gained will go to waste. Because once again, a Hart will be a stomping mat for D-Generation X as I once again retain my title against someone who didn’t even deserve to stand in the same ring with me. As I walk out as champion, just remember: You can not stop D-Generation X.

 

 

As Owen stares, Triple H cockily walks to the back with Chyna in tow as we got to commercial break.

Road Warrior Hawk V.S. Double J Jeff Jarrett

 

Hawk showed off his power in the first hand of the match pretty much rag dolling Jarrett around. Hawk would eventually lose the advantage after the Jarrett used his quickness to escape the ring, and then run back in to hit a dropkick on a pursuing Hawk. Jarrett would then continue his offense focused on the leg of Hawk and would finish him off with the Figure Four Leglock.

 

 

We are then sent to the back where Michael Cole is with Cactus Jack.

 

Michael Cole: Tonight Cactus you go one on one with The Rock, but in six days you and Chainsaw Charlie go into your Tag Team Title match against the New Age Outlaws. How are you preparing for it?

Cactus Jack: Well Michael Im preparing for that match like I prepare for any other match. (Screams) I JUMP ON GARBAGE CANS AND HIT MYSELF WITH CHAIRS. See Michael the Outlaws have not only hurt me but they hurt my friends Dude Love and Mandkind, so at Royal Rumble me and Chainsaw will hurt Billy Gunn and Road Dogg. BANG! BANG!!.

Cactus Jack vs the Rock

 

 

Cactus Jack showed his intensity very quickly in this matchup, pummeling the Rock with left and rights, before hitting a big back body drop off the ropes. Picking him up, Jack irish whips the Rock into the corner, and follows up on it, however he gets kicked in the face by the Intercontinental Champion, who follows it up with a missile dropkick from the top for a quick 2 count. Stomping at Cactus, Rock keeps telling him “Get up Jabroni!” After several moments of stomping, Rock picks him up for a hard back suplex for another 2 count. With momentum on his side, the Champion irish whips Cactus Jack to the ropes, who reverses it with a kick to the face as Rock leans over. With the Rock stunned, Cactus Jack follows up on it with a running DDT, with a leg drop off the ropes immediately afterwards for a 2 count. Now having the momentum, Cactus hits a big Double Arm DDT! With the ref’s arm about to count 3 on the Rock, Farooq distracts the ref from the outside! With Cactus distracted and looking towards Farooq, the Rock gets up and rolls up Cactus Jack for a 3 count!

 

After the Rock’s win, he immediately high tails it to get to the rest of the Nation, when out of no where, Ken Shamrock clotheslines him from behind, and just starts pummeling the Intercontinental Champion as he is being seperated by the Nation, but Shamrock isn’t letting go until finally several referees restrain Shamrock and drag him to the back to close Raw is War.

They add to this by saying we will find out the identity of that man right here tonight in Indiana. They go on to hype the matches here tonight; first off it will be the Guerrero’s in tag team action against Rey Misterio & Chris Jericho. Later on in the card we will see the WCW United States Champion DDP, go against the uncontrollable beast, Wrath. And in the main event tonight we will see Hollywood Hogan and Randy Savage face the team of Lex Luger and the world champion Sting. We’ll see tonight if Luger and Sting can coagsist before there big world title Pay-Per-View match at Souled Out….

I feel great, finally we kicked Nash and Hall to curb because they thought, and that they were the top of the NWO. They thought that me and Macho were old news and they would put us down and takeover. Well let’s take a look at things in retrospective, Me and Macho haven’t lost a match this year, me and Macho have the world title over 10 times combined, and we’ve been the franchise of pro wrestling since 1985. Hall, Nash when you’re in the NWO your in it for life, if you stay in order and always know who’s in charge. Now that those two are done with let me now introduce you all too the newest member to the NWO, he is the man that not only cost Nash a world title match, but also got Randy his payback on Scott. He is The Acolyte.

 

(Hogan passes the mic to the Acolyte, but as he does Bischoff takes the mic.)

 

Eric Bischoff-

Why couldn’t you let bygones be bygones and just help Nash get a title shot? He could’ve brought the title back to the NWO, but instead now Sting is going against Lex Luger. Two WCW guys, not one NWO guy, because of your ego Hogan and yours too Randy.

 

(Then we hear a wolf howl over the loud speaker and catchy music stats to play. From the back Nash and Hall come out to the stage with microphones in hand)

Eddy & Chavo Guerrero V.S. Rey Misterio Jr and Chris Jericho

 

This match was a good athletic and acrobatic match-up. The Guerreros showed off their high-flying and mat skills while Jericho and Rey did the same. As the match rolled on Eddy tried to use underhanded tactics to win but to no avail, as Chris would tell the ref about the tactics and referee Randy Anderson would make Eddy stop or run the risk of getting DQed. Eddy would tag in Chavo while Chris Jericho was down in the ring, Chavo would attempt a frog splash but Jericho moved. Jericho would get to his feet fast and do a Springboard Moonsault on Chavo and that’s how Jericho and Rey would get the win.

The match is over and after Jericho and Misterio leave the ring Eddy starts yelling at Chavo again. When Chavo just looks away from Eddy, Eddy proceeds to slap Chavo. Eddy then starts attacking his nephew. As the assault continues someone that resembles Eddy runs down to the Nitro ring.

Its Eddy’s brother Hector Guerrero who is Chavo’s other uncle. Hector comes in the ring obviously appalled at the actions of Eddy against his nephew. Hector pulls Eddy of Chavo and starts scolding Eddy on the opposite end of the ring. Hector gives Eddy a slap after he is finish scolding him, Eddy then pushes Hector and then from behind Chavo attacks his uncle Hector. Chavo attacks the man who was saving him from an assault, Chavo is attacking his uncle. Eddy who is shocked by this starts smiling as Chavo continues the beatdown. Chavo then suplexs his uncle on the mat and heads to the top rope, Chavo taunts a little before hitting a Frog Splash on his uncle Hector Guerrero. Chavo and Eddy then leave the flesh and blood down in the ring as they walk to the back with smiles on their faces.

I agree with you Tony, Chavo has been pretty much tortured by Eddy over the last few weeks and once someone stands up for him Chavo takes him down.

 

Bobby Heenan-

I applaud Chavo for having the guts to stand behind his uncle who has helped him throughout WCW. Eddy has held Chavo's hand for the last few months and now Chavo is finally growing up and helping his uncle the way his uncle helped him.

 

Tony Schiavone-

Bobby how can you approve of someone beating up not only their own family, but also the one person who stands up for you.

 

Bobby Heenan-

Easily, I just did.

I dont understand how you can be so ruthless Bobby.

Tony I hate to cut you off, but it's time for the next match here tonight as Booker T and his partner for the night Barry Darsow will face Rick Martel and a partner Rick Martel still hasn’t revealed.

 

(Booker and Barry come out first as they are in the ring waiting for Rick Martel and his mystery partner to come out. Rick Martel and Stevie Ray V.S. Booker T and Barry Darsow

 

Barry Darsow and Stevie Ray Start the match off, even though it was obvious Ray wanted Booker. Ray got the quick lead in the match over Darsow, no ring rust was shown at all by Stevie. Stevie would get a tag to Martel as the match rolled on. Darsow would get the advantage after a Booker interference got Martel hurt. Darsow would tag Booker in to take on the hurt Martel, Booker tried for a Axe Kick right away but Martel would move and out of desperation hit a dropkick. Martel would then scramble for the tag and get Stevie Ray in, but then Booker scurried to Barry and got the tag before going to the outside. Barry runs in and goes for a clothesline that Stevie Ray ducks, Stevie hits a Jumping Superkick that knocks out Barry and when Stevie gets the cover he is staring right at Booker as the ref counts three.

Norton showed the power game he possessed early on, but got one upped by Janetty's speed advantage. As the match would continue Norton would get the upper-hand, coming in the closing moments we Norton sizing Marty up for something. Before anything happens Bret Hart starts walking out, as Norton is distracted by the Hitman Janetty comes behind Norton and rolls him up and gets a 1, 2, 3.

The announcers begin discussing the fact that maybe the Outsiders are right, maybe without them the NWO is nothing. They add in that Hall and Nash were the founding members of the NWO so they know how to start a group up, and get it to be a fear entity. Tony then passes it to the ring announcer for the introductions for the next match.

Scott was looking to get some redemption from his loss last week to Scott Steiner. Scott started off rough to Rick, giving him some stiff strikes and a big body slam. As the match would go on Rick would amount a comeback, he would hit a big double underhook suplex that almost ended the match. But Hall kicked out, Hall would then get a thumb in the eye in on Rick and do the Outsiders Edge to get the win.

After the match we head back to the announce booth, Tony begins to remind fans that the main event tonight is Hollywood Hogan and Macho Man from the NWO going against the team of Sting and Luger. Mike Tenay says "I dont know how Lex and Sting will be able to co-exsist with each other after what happened last week between Lex and Sting." Tony then tells us that JJ. Dillon who is the WCW President is coming to the ring now.

Now down to business, last week I said that if you were chosen by Scott Hall or Randy Savage to be put in a match you must go and compete. Giant you blatantly disobeyed the orders I gave, I am your boss therefore you have to do what I say. When I say you have to compete you have to compete. And you didnt so now you have to pay the consequences....

JJ ya see I will compete when you ask, but when you give that power to Scott Hall and Randy Savage that’s another story. After all the NWO has done to me I wasn't about to be a pawn in there little confrontation. I respect you JJ but I don’t respect Hall or Savage though.

Wrath VS Diamond Dallas Page w/ Kimberly

DDP could not match the power of Wrath in this one, but did have better brains in this one which helped alot. DDP would go after Wrath in smart ways throughout the match, and in the end he hit the Diamond Cutter to get the win. Meanwhile Ric Flair came down to scout out DDP a little and while DDP and Flair had a stare off post-match, Curt Hennig came behind and attacked DDP while Flair looked on. Hennig would leave DDP down in the ring while Kimberly was crying on the outside for her husband.

Sting & Lex Luger V.S. Hollywood Hogan & Randy Savage w/ The Acolyte

 

Lex and Macho start off the match with Lex showing off his power by throwing Macho in the corner, Macho would comeback with an eye poke to the Total Package. Later on Sting is in and has been worked on for a while by Hogan and Savage. Hogan is in going after Sting with strong strikes, as Savage and The Acolyte applaud. Hogan hits one big right with Sting in the corner and then it seems as though Sting wakes up, Hogan does another right and Sting screams and pounds his chest. Hogan starts pleading with Sting as he does multitude of rights and lefts on Hogan. Macho then comes in from behind Sting and knees Sting sending him to the floor, as the ref starts making Macho get out The Acolyte comes over to where Sting is, by the camera side guardrail. Luger sees the Acolyte runs over and proceeds to chase the Acolyte around the ring and up the stage as Luger is in hot pursuit of The Acolyte, as you have to remember Acolyte used a led pipe on Luger last week so Luger seems to want some revenge. Hogan goes to the outside and picks up Sting and throws him in the ring. Hogan starts taunting the crowd on the floor, he then enters the ring and tries for the leg drop, but Sting moves and both men go for the tag. Hogan gets it and Sting goes for it and starts wondering where Luger went. Randy then comes from behind Sting with a knee making Sting hit the corner. Macho then slams Sting and hits the elbow, but before he covers Sting, Hogan wants the tag. Savage tags Hogan and Hogan drags Sting to the middle of the ring and hits the Atomic Leg Drop.

"Holy Shit! That was my reaction when I saw the ratings for Nitro last night, we almost scored a full 1.00 higher then last week. I know were starting too really roll now, Im starting to think Vince won't be able to surpass us soon.

Especially after we set in motion the plans we have for 1998, after this year WCW will be cemented as the greatest wrestling company ever. Me and the boys had a meeting (Creative) Sunday before Nitro and discussed the plans for about the next 4 months. We have the ??? V.S.??? Saga, then ??? will beat ??? after ??? attacks him. These plans are gold and will get our ratings up to the 6's and maybe the 7's if we play our cards right. Hopefully everything goes to plan and no egos get in the way, I'll be crossing my fingers through 1998. If this works we will be great, just great."

WCW Saturday Night

 

1. We start the show off with a video showing off the path of destruction Goldberg has left behind him since coming to WCW. Zybyszko and Tenay say that Goldberg will take on Raven at WCW Souled Out in 9 days from now.

 

2. Within two minutes of starting this match, Goldberg would take out Kidman, Lodi, Sick Boy, and then Hammer to get the win.

 

3. After the match a video is shown recapping the events that have taken place between the Outsiders (or Wolfpack) and the NWO (more specifically Hogan and Savage). It ends with saying who will win, which team is better?

 

4. After some good in ring action and an average crowd reaction, Ultimo Dragons team would beat Alex Wright's team. Jerry Lynn would get the win over Juvi.

 

5. The Enforcers (Pearce and CW Anderson) look to make an impact in WCW, but tonight wasnt there night as the Tag Champion Steiners would get the win.

 

6. After the match the Faces of Fear Meng and The Barbarian come out to the ring and start attacking the Tag Team Champions. Meng would finish Rick off with a big Superkick and Barbarian would do the oriental spike on Scott to take him out.

 

7. We're then backstage where Chavo and Eddy talk about Hector and Chavo explains why he did what he did. Chavo would say "Uncle Hector tell when did you ever help me before? Never is the answer. Uncle Eddy has been helping me become a better man and wrestler in WCW and the fact you wanted to stop my growth on Nitro just showed you are a jealous old man who doesn't want anyone in the family to think you were worse then your nephew. Well it's truth time and the truth is your the disgrace to the Guerrero Legacy."

 

8. In a decent match Chavo Guerrero defeated Ernest Miller with the Frog Splash.

 

9. A video is shown post-match of Sting and Lex Luger's problems over the past two weeks. Pertaining to the accidents or problems that Sting believe's Lex has caused.

 

10. We then see a camera backstage where Chris Jericho has a mic, "On Nitro me and Rey both defeated the Guerrero's so how about at Souled Out we have a three-way for that cruiserweight title? Eddy Guerrero Versus Rey Misterio Versus Chris Jericho. What do you boys say?"

 

11. In a competitive match The debuting French Canadians (Jacque and Carl) Defeated Traylor and Duggan with a double one handed slam.

 

12. After the match Meng and Barbarian come out and start attacking the Canadians and then the Steiners would come out and join the Fray as well as Traylor and Duggan. All these four teams were brawling until alot of security broke it up.

 

13. In a match with great in-ring action and a decent crowd reaction Steven Regal defeated Dean Malenko with a Half Nelson Suplex following a distraction from Benoit and Adams fighting on the floor.
