Welcome to the first episode of GEW Mayhem!!!!!!! (C+) The Fantastics vs Diamond & Swinger (E) Finally for the first time Diamond & Swinger actually get to compete together and be what they were brought to GEW to be and that is a tag team. This was a good back and forth match, between the past/present and the future of the wrestling tag division. The Fantastics win at 8:45. A video graphic airs on the screen, the fans see nothing but a black screen, and hear nothing until a pixilated voice can be heard on the screen saying “To be free even if your able to be is a lie, because everyone is a prisoner of their own mind.” (C-) GEW Elite Championship Match: © Joel Deaton vs Avatar (E+) After defeating Mike Lockwood last month Avatar felt he deserved a title match this month and it just so happened that our new weekly television show would debut in this month. Instead of being a “fighting champion” Deaton makes a run for it after figuring out that Avatar will not be a cake walk and instead takes the count-out loss. Deaton retains title, but Avatar wins the match. Backstage: We come from the commercial to find that a brawl has broken out backstage in the locker room arena between Joel Deaton & Mike Lockwood. We catch the tail end of things as when a camera finally entered the locker room staff and security were already in the room separating the two men. (F-) Jamie Knoble vs Tatanka (D-) Going against one of the youngest members of the GEW roster as Tatanka tries to prove that he can still go with the young guys. Knoble gets enough offense in to make this somewhat of a competitive match, but not enough of a competitive match were Knoble gets the better of the veteran. Tatanka wins after tomahawk chop. Post Match: Tatanka grabs a microphone “Corino, what all the tough words last month but no response to my challenge. You might call yourself the “King of Old School” but your nothing less than a young punk trying to raise his stock off someone who spent years building it. I will not only teach you respect Corino, but when I get back in the ring with you I will teach you nothing comes easy in this business for anyone.” (D) The Shooter vs The Enforcer (D-) First glimpse of young masked man named The Shooter that we are getting, and not the first time we get to see The Enforcer. This match was very one-sided as The Enforcer is extremely pissed off and isn’t willing to sit back and take “such” a lack of a challenge. The Enforcer puts The Shooter through the mat with a Pump-Handle Slam at 5:32 mark. Vader walks onto the stage as The Enforcer is celebrating in the ring. “Enforcer, I will keep this short because I know your mind can’t absorb so much at one time. So all I wanted to say was if you want this title earn your shot.” (B-) Super Locco vs Taka Michinoku (D+) In what was a good match even though it was lacking heat the in-ring action stole the show and these two showed why they are two of the top high fliers in wrestling today. At one point in the match Super Locco did a springboard top rope moon-sault into the third row of the crowd onto Taka. That was just one of the many highlights of this awesome main event for the first episode of the weekly GEW show. Taka is victorious at the 15:10 mark with the Michinoku Driver. A solid opening match which gave the fans a glimpse into both the future, and the past of a directionless division. Flash Funk controlled most of the match showing his veteran prowess in this one, but Knoble did give enough offense in this to make it seem like it was more than just a squash. Funk wins with the tumbleweed at 7:35. Harvey Whippleman walks to the ring with Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger in toe. Harvey grabs a microphone “Saturday, July 31st 1998, why is this date important you ask well that is the date this company held their first show. Now for those who don’t remember a travesty, a poor choice in judgment was made on that date, because the Tag Team titles were on the line however not every team got a fair chance. The team behind me, the team of the future Simon Diamond & Johnny Swinger never got their fair chance to challenge for the Tag Team Titles. With this being the case I have taken it upon myself to make sure these men got their chance. Tonight I as the manger of Diamond & Swinger am issuing an open challenge to the Tag Team Champions to give these men what they rightfully deserve. Bad Company….. show your real men, show your fair men and give Diamond & Swinger their shot at the titles tonight.” (E+) GEW Tag Team Title Match: (E) © Bad Company vs Diamond & Swinger w/ Harvey Whippleman Nothing like having an impromptu Tag Team title match on the second episode of your weekly TV show. In a disappointing site either because Bad Company wasn't prepared or because these teams just didn't click the match suffered horribly and in directly may have damaged a weak and developing tag team division. Badd Company retain the titles. Vince McMahon makes his way to the ring. Vince grabs a microphone “I am going to keep this short tonight is a very special night in the GEW, because we signed one of the hottest free agents out their today. He is not only a former Olympian but is now the only Olympic Gold Medalist in the history of Sports Entertainment. Please give a big GEW Welcome to KURT ANGLE!!!!!! © Kurt Angle vs Mike Barton (D+) In a match that featured some good action and even average heat. One bad feature of the match was it was noticeable that Mike was suffering slightly from ring rust considering the fact he has not been seen on programming since the debut event. Also the match suffered a little from Kurt holding back slightly which could just be attributed to him having jitters in his debut. Either way Kurt overcame the jitters and hit the Angle Slam to get the win at 11:52. Backstage: Steve Corino is being interviewed and is asked about Tatanka, before the interviewer finishes asking the question he is interrupted by Corino. “Tatanka you want to provoke me, I am not sure you know what you’re doing old man. I am not someone you want to make mad because I can end your career in the blink of an eye. Tatanka you want to teach me a lesson in respect well fine I am ok with proving your “win” was nothing more than a fluke against me. Considering I am feeling generous I will let you pick the time and place we have this “re-match.” (F+) The Enforcer vs Tony Kozina (D-) For back to back weeks The Enforcer has dominated his opponent. To say Tony Kozina had much of any offense in this contest would be a lie, because The Enforcer decimated him and tossed him like a rag doll. Much like last week The Enforcer once again sent a message to the World Champion Vader, but this time it was by beating Kozina with the Vader Bomb. The Enforcer wins with the Vader Bomb at the 3:50 mark. The announcers hype the Main Event which is Vader vs Road Warrior Animal Unknown W vs Tommy Rogers (E+) For lack of a better word some styles are able to clash in the ring, but other styles are meant to never meet in the ring. These two are from different sides so much so that this will likely be the last time you see these two going against one another. This is the first time we are seeing Unknown W since his loss to Vader back at Summer’s End so it’s good to see him get back on the winning track. Unknown W wins at 8:12 by pin-fall. A video graphic airs on the screen, the fans see nothing but a black screen, and hear nothing until a pixilated voice can be heard on the screen but this time he has a different message. “Not everything can be controlled and those who don’t believe that will obsess to try and control everything even what is uncontrollable.” © Vader vs Road Warrior Animal (D) Since the start of this company one thing has been consistent and that is good outings from the World Champion. Nobody knows what changed tonight, but Vader didn’t seem like himself in this one and it seemed like his age might be catching up to the big man. Feeding into this possibility was at one point in the contest Vader went for the Vader Bomb, but Animal moved and when Vader landed it looked as though he hurt himself. This match ended when a jealous Enforcer ran in and distracted Vader allowing a confused Animal to get the win at the 14:23 mark. Post Match: Animal looks confused at a pissed off Vader. Animal is confused, because he didn’t see The Enforcer interfere in the match as he was knocked down when The Enforcer was at ringside. Bonus: 1.
