Season Awards anomaly(maybe)

Recommended Posts

I'm running a league from 1946 on . The last 4 years Bill Russell on Detroit(won 4 titles in a row) won the MVP..Ok, not a problem on the surface. 30.0, 30.9, 29.9 and 31.1 averages are nothing to sneeze at. But..... In 1959 he only played 37 games. Here is where I have an issue. Wilt Chamberlain in 1959 managed to average 57.7 points playing 76 games. Granted,my knowledge of basketball is close to non existent but someone scoring over 4000 points should be the MVP over someone with a little over 1000. No? Am I missing something ? Does basketball use a different set of parameters to choose its MVP ?
