GnarlsFunk
WCW: The Shane McMahon Era What if it wasn't just a storyline? What if Shane McMahon really did buy WCW without Vince McMahon knowing? What if Shane McMahon wanted to step out of his father's shadow and pick up the baton of WCW and bring it back from the depths to compete against his father. Not to drive him out of business, but to see if the son can beat the father at his own game. Shane McMahon's promise on the very last Nitro on March 26th, 2001 was for WCW to kick Vince McMahon's ass once again. After that show went off the air, the news coming from WCW was non-exsistant for weeks. And then towards the end of April, rumors started to swirl that Shane had an announcement to make. The internet was a buzz with rumors that WCW had found a new place on TV. That WCW had found a new place on PPV. And that WCW was ready to raise like the phoenix. And that my friends, is where this little story begins. May 2001, Week 2 A WCW.com posted a video of the Shane McMahon press conference, announcing that WCW has signed a deal with Bravo! to air their brand new show, Tuesday Night Live. The show will air in the late night time slot. While Shane admits it is not the deal he was hoping for, he is hoping that they will be able to earn their way back to a primetime slot. The show also will only be 90 minutes in length. With less TV, their will be roster cuts annouced soon. On the flip side Shane announces that they have landed deals all across the globe to show their PPVs live! The first of which being shown the last Sunday in May, WCW Genesis. All the WCW titles will be defended at this show. But not all WCW titles will make the cut. The United States title has been retired. The Cruiserweight Tag Champions, The Filthy Animals will defend their titles against the WCW Tag Team Champions of the Natural Born Thrillers, who will also defend their titles in a unification bout. The cruiserweight championship will be changed. Once the cruiserweight division was the reason to turn into the WCW. The word cruiserweight has always been seen as a negative. In ring action will once again be the focal point of our company, and the division will be focused on again. This time it will be known as the X-Division. A division with no limits, in the ring or out. Along with the announcement for a return to TV, WCW has announced the signing of Joey Styles, Matt Striker and Jeremy Borash. Joey Styles and Matt Striker will take over the announce booth for WCW, moving away from the voices that have long been associated with WCW. Jeremy Borash will take the roll of backstage interviewer along with other duties within the company.

CQI13
Sunday, Week 4, May 2001 WCW presents Genesis WCW World Heavyweight Championship 6 Man Elimination Match Kanyon v Scott Steiner v Jeff Jarrett v Diamond Dallas Page v Sting v Booker T © Only because it would seem odd for him to lose it so quickly. And with no US Title to also defend... WCW Cruiserweight and World Tag Team Unification Match Filthy Animals © v Natural Born Thrillers © Even without Sanders as a mouthpiece, there's more run to the NBT than the Filthy Animals. Let the Animals go fight in the X Division. WCW X-Division Championship Chavo Guerrero Jr v Gregory Helms © Helms all the way in this one. 3-Way Tag Match Skipper & Romeo v 3 Count v Jung Dragons I don't want to see Skipper/Romeo vs NBT, but 3Count/Jung Dragons has mileage still. Hopefully there's a way to build other teams to face NBT. Dustin Rhodes v Mike Awesome There's room to still re-build Awesome into what he should have been when he debuted in WCW. Rhodes at that time was meh. Shane Douglas v Bam Bam Bigelow Douglas has more upside in my opinion. Bigelow you can build up easily again after the loss though. Kid Kash v Jamie Knoble A good next opponent for Storm after the winner of the next match. It's tough going straight into a re-boot PPV with characters not established for some people (or maybe I'm the only one who doesn't remember much about Kash circa 2001) Ultimate X #1 Contendeship for the X-Division Championship Crowbar v Lance Storm v AJ Styles v Chris Harris The only other option here is Crowbar, but "super serious" Lance Storm going up against the fun Shane Helms? I can get behind that.
GnarlsFunk
I am not picking up exactly where the last Nitro left off. While some interactions will be remembered from the last days, some wont. Some points of interest I'm not going to explain, but just change. Rey Misterio Jr will be back to wearing his mask. His gimmick and run with Billy Kidman and Konnan wont change though. This is probably a safe bet for any talent who was unmasked in WCW towards their end of days if I bring them back. I have paired Paisley with Booker T, simply because they are actually together in real life, and didn't want to fire another person close to Booker T. Stacy Keibler is the manager for all of the Natural Born Thrillers.
GnarlsFunk
Sunday, Week 4, May 2001 WCW presents Genesis Genesis opens with Jeremy Borash is in the ring welcoming us to Coors Event Center in Boulder, Colorado for the return of World Championship Wrestling. Borash then introduces the owner of WCW, Shane McMahon Shane McMahon enters the ring and welcomes everyone to the Genesis of the new World Championship Wrestling. WCW has stood at the highest of heights, and fallen as far as you could. Tonight we make a promise to make it back to those heights. Tonight we step forward into a new era of professional wrestling. Tonight we put the focus back where in belongs, in this very ring. Tonight we get... The camera cuts to ringside where Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer, and Sabu jump the guardrail and slide into the ring. RVD grabs the microphone from Jeremy Borash and tells Shane McMahon he bet on the wrong guys. He bought the wrong company. Instead of spending millions of dollars on WCW and paying off a ton of horrible contracts to guys who couldn't cut it one minute in the land of Extreme. You should of bought the company that was built on passion, dedication and love of this business. You should of bought a company that would of given themselves fully to you as their savior and done no wrong. Instead you walked into a lions den of guys who care more about money than they do these fans. We are here to prove you wrong Shane McMahon. We are here to give these fans what they deserve. These fans deserve more Shane. These fans deserve the revenge we want. They deserve to see an Extreme Revolution. GnarlsFunk
I have now realized several key mistakes I've made in starting this. While I had some what of a long term plan, I quickly realized I didn't like the direction I originally set off in. I want to thank those that invested some time in this. I will be starting over with a much more planned out WCW Diary very soon. Thanks for paying attention to my ramblings
