Can you, and if you can, how do you edit the historical database?

I ask this because players like Kobe, Iverson, T. Parker, and such always seem to be disappointments, with Kobe usually having around 15 PPG for his career, Iverson 20, etc. I'd like if I can edit the database, so I don't have to edit them every time they roll around. I looked at the historical database editor, under tools, but it seems to just ignore my overrides. I get it, it can't always be perfect, but that's exactly why I'd like to go in and fix it.

And please don't say something like "it changes every time." Yes, I get that, but I've played it a lot, and Iverson never becomes great, and Kobe most of the time doesn't. I'd just like to cut down on the odds that they don't become what they should.

Oh, and why with the drafts, do players show up the year before they actually played, rather than show up in their actual classes? Kind of annoying, especially with players that never played (Len Bias, Oscar Schmidt). Is it an age thing? Or was it an issue with the database?
