w4lru5
The Tales of the Tape, presented by blurcat.com XCC: Caged Fury MICKEY: This is Mickey Silver, live with Tales of the Tape on blurcat.com. Now that we've concluded our look back at the general history of MMA, today is the first episode of a special podcast that we're calling Caged Fury: A History of XCC. We'll be talking to fighters, announcers and CEO Vince Whiteman. Join us for the journey as we follow XCC from its humble beginnings to where it is today. --COMMERCIAL BREAK-- MICKEY: For the first four years of XCC's existence, they had apparently been content to just be happy in their little niche: presenting the best fights in the world at lightweight or lower. Today, we talk to company founder and the man behind the madness, CEO Vince Whiteman about what changed at the beginning of 2001. The company started to focus on landing a broadcast deal that could get them national exposure and, in February, they ran their first-ever show outside of California. The rise had begun. Each week, we'll be posting the full card for the show we're discussing on blurcat.com so you can follow along as we watch, commentate and then talk to the fighters involved. The first episode of the podcast will be up later today on the "Downloads" page of the Blurcat website. All of us here at Tales of the Tape hope you'll give it a shot. The card for the first XCC event of 2001 was typical XCC. They had the only bantamweight division in the US and they kicked the year off with that division's champ, Brian "Barrage" Claremont, defending his belt against Zach "Beatdown" Steggles. The full card for that evening: Main Event: XCC Bantamweight Championship: Brian "Barrage" Claremont © vs. Zach "Beatdown" Steggles Co-Main: Featherweight: "Scorching" Shuler Eigenberg vs. Francisco "Frankie Boy" Jimenez Lighweight: "Pocket Rocket" Jackson Gray vs. "Sweet" Sammy Newton Lightweight: Elvis "The King" Milissis vs. Chuck "The Joker Thug" Brown Featherweight: Jimmy "Big" Schott vs. Wallace "All Night Long" Everett NB: Just want to give a quick thank you to everyone who has rendered fighters, logos, belts, etc in the past. You guys make this game more fun to play. This is my first diary ever, and feedback would be great. Hope you all enjoy.
w4lru5
The Week 1 rankings. I plan to change these after every significant signing/event. http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag334/theliteralw4lru5/Rankings_zps535ed40c.png (Is there a way to post the actual formatted table here? Copying and pasting, even as an image, doesn't seem to work.)
