From AWF.com

AWF has a new benefactor and we have decided to reopen the federation. The new owner has decided at this time to remain a silent owner.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the AWF. The American Wrestling Federation (AWF), was a national professional wrestling federation founded by Paul Alperstein in 1994 in an attempt to compete with WWF and WCW.

Alperstein intended to reintroduce rules as a significant part of professional wrestling. This was carried out by the use of timed rounds and judges in every match, which is similar to the rules of professional wrestling in Europe.

Each round was four minutes long with a one-minute rest period between rounds. Title bouts were scheduled for twelve rounds while all other fights were scheduled for three. One referee and two judges were assigned to each match. The winner of each round was decided by both the judges' scorecards and the referee's scorecard. If a match lasted the full amount of scheduled rounds, the winner was declared as whoever had the majority of points on each of the three scorecards.

Another rule implemented was that throwing opponents over the top rope resulted in an automatic disqualification.

The wrestling rounds will not be used. We feel we are not trying to reinvent the wheel. We just want to bring you the best wrestling action at an affordable price. But rules will be enforced.

We are currently in several negotiations with several talents and are quickly trying to assemble a roster. More news we hope later this week as we are hard at work at putting together an event for this month.

Thank you and check in later for further news.

Oh, I hope this will be as (wrestle)craptacular as the original! I never had the (dis)pleasure of watching it on TV when it aired oh way back when, but I did buy the "Warriors of Wrestling" Million-DVD boxed set. It was cheap, and awful, and I loved it. Nailz was a headliner for goodness sake! You should bring back Nailz.

I look forward to your roster. 2006 was a really fun year.

Yeah, was going to do a TNA one but found myself booking ahistorical. Somebody started a TNA 2006 then stopped possibly. But I started looking into a smaller fed. I usually don't do this small but going to give it a whirl. Hope its a fun ride.

Craptacular. I hate to disappoint. Im just not that imaginative to pull off wrestlecrap. This wont be that AWF. Now I will admit I might do a tribute somewhere down the line using the round system. But it isn't in the fore seen future. Nailz, yeah I was looking down the road to bring him in somewhere, even if for one show. Maybe a few others as well. But you never know who might show up.

Been a roller coaster type of ride here at the AWF over the last couple of days. We were involved in a telephone conference with the National Wrestling Alliance. After lengthy discussions it was decided that we are not a good fit with them at this time. We were encouraged by the negotiations, and we may try again in the future but as of right now we stand alone.

The good news is we have inked our first contracts. Devon Storm, Solo Snuka, and Malia Hosaka have signed contracts with us.

Devon Storm, best known under the ring names Crowbar while wrestling in World Championship Wrestling and Devon Storm. He also wrestled in briefly in the World Wrestling Federation, Extreme Championship Wrestling and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Richard Lannon has been inked to be our referee. Richard is a 14 yr veteran who has mostly worked in the northeast territorys.
