Fantasy WWE (like fantasy football, but way cooler...hopefully)

Okay, so if you are an Englishman i'm sure you are familiar with fantasy football. You choose your favourite players within a set budget and they gain points based on how they perform in real life. My best mate runs a fantasy football league with a twist. Basically everybody has a roster of footballers and pick 11 players to play each week and they get points for goals, assists etc. Plus you can transfer the players amongst teams and the footballers have "contracts" and minimum game requirements etc. Basically it is one of the coolest (and by cool I mean totally nerdy) things in the world!

I want to do the same, but with wrestling. Here's how it's going to work. First of all if you are interested in playing post your top 40 WWE stars in order of preference. This is how the opening draft will operate. But also, if you don't mind a brief sentence or two saying why you want to take part. (just in case I get a glut of takers!)

I will organise the initial draft and the people who are taking part will be invited to a forum with a more in-depth explanation of the rules and regulations. NXT stars will also feature. And managing a budget and keeping your roster happy will be key. The basic premise is that from your squad you pick 3 wrestlers a week to represent your "stable" each wrestler will have a set amount of appearance requirements to fulfil during a season. A season, roughly speaking will be three months. During that time if they don't fulfil their request criteria they will refuse to sign a new contract and become a free agent. Of course you can sign them up for a 2 or 3 season contract, but then if they get a terrible injury you have a star on wages that cant be used, plus your squad size will be limited to 10 so places become precious!

A stars popularity will be dictated by their win/loss ratio multiplied by the amount of times they are "used" popularity effects your income through merchandise sales, money is important as each week you need to pay every star on your roster and it is also used to try and tempt other stable managers to part with their key players. Using this system you can take a regular appearing jobber and if you persevere you can turn him into a decent performer, but is it worth doing that at the expense of a true star? contract demands will also be based on popularity though. And rewards for appearing on RAW are greater than appearing on NXT.

I will generate the stats and at the end of the first season their will be an opportunity to discuss proposals for improvements. My word is final, however I do want people to enjoy the game so I will try and be open minded - positive criticisms only though, please!

I'm looking for eight players to begin with. A "proper" draft in person would be way more fun, but due to their being a lot of transatlantic buddies on here it's probably not feasible. I hope I have piqued your interest!

If it goes well perhaps we can document it in the diaries forum.

nice one, i'll run with 5 if I have to but it would be cool to get another 3 people. I've been thinking about what people will pick up points for and i'm thinking to start with it will just be dead simple, like wins (with bonus points for being on big shows),points for taking part and bonus points for title matches. This can be reviewed at the end of the first season and if it's working well we can add and evolve it. I was also thinking, to make the contract system more viable there should be two seasons in a year, one culminating with Wrestlemania, one culminating at Summerslam. With three month seasons there wouldn't be much difference in the contractual requirements of an nxt guy and a main eventer, which is crazy.

Do I get points for Brock showing up?

appearance points is an interesting concept - not sure of how I could keep track out it though. I only tend to watch RAW and the occasional SD and was going to look up results. Is there anywhere that does a detailed weekly breakdown of the shows?

Rules and information

The basic premise is that from your stable you pick 3 wrestlers a week to represent you. each wrestler will have an appearance requirements to fulfil during a season. If by the end of that time they don't fulfil their appearance request criteria they will refuse to sign a new contract and become a free agent. Of course you can sign them up for a 2 season contract (and this exempts them for the first season appearance requests), but then if they get a terrible injury you have a star collecting wages that cannott be used, plus your squad size will be limited to 10 workers so places become precious!

merchandise and prize info.

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g211/panix_uk04/fantasy%20wrestling/merchandiseandprizeinfo_zps61000f27.png

at end of every season you can increase you concessions stand capacity by up to 5000. 1000 extra capacity will cost a cool £2000000

In any given game week every point your team achieves gains you 1000 merchandise purchases, this is capped by your current capacity. So to begin with you can sell a maximum of 10000 units of merchandise.

the price of your merchandise is dictated by a combination of your position in the previous years "Stable Rankings" and your combined popularity level for your roster (pop. And pos. merch scores) Note on popularity this score is taken by multiplying a workers win/loss ratio by their appearances, so will go up with appearances and by winning more matches than losing!

In the first season everyone will start with a 10000 capacity concession stand and a position merchandise score of just £1/$1 (for the purpose of this game we will assume they have the same value!)

contract info.

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g211/panix_uk04/fantasy%20wrestling/contractinfo_zpse0fe43e7.png

There are 8 wage bands. Each band will be dictated, initially, by the order in which they were drafted. and then later by their point score. Workers signed through the auction room will be dealt with in a slightly different manner (discussed later)

Wages are paid out regardless of whether a worker is selected that week or not. Each week you must select a triage of workers from your 10. These three stars performances will be rewarded with points as shown in the points table. (This table will be tweaked season on season until perfect!) These points determine your position in the stable rankings, how much merchandise you shift and your superstars popularity! The aim is to finish top of the rankings and to be the most lucrative stable manager. NB. A fine of £100000 and 5 penalty points will apply to anyone that doesn't pick their superstars for that week. (as well as them missing out on any points.) If this happens more than twice a season the stable manager will be sacked!

Points info.

Seasons

A season will essentially be six month, peaking with the Wrestlemania and Summerslam PPV's respectively.

At the end of the season we will hold a draft for any workers that failed to resign for their respective stable managers and any free agents. The person who is in last place gets first pick. The draft will continue until all of the brands have finished signing free agents. workers without some kind of WWE contract cannot currently be drafted. (although this may change)

Following the penultimate PPV of the season all auction activity is suspended in preparation for the draft.

The draft will mostly be used to pick up people that failed to meet their appearance criteria and/or talented undrafted nxt stars. We will try and do this live as it is only once per year. So fire up facebook!

Auction room

There will be an auction forum. In this forum at any point, apart from the last month of season, a player can put in a bid for a unattached worker. Other players can attempt to outbid their rivals. When 48 hours has passed from the timestamp of the last bid the person in second place has 24 hours to match the winning bid.

The auction then goes to the second stage - negotiating terms. As long as the worker has not competed for that manager during that season the manager whose bid was matched makes the initial wage bid

The initial wage bid must be at least the minimum required and this is dictated by the contract info. table. Or if previously owned it must be at least their old wage, whichever is greater, The players will then bid for the services of the star. His wage may go above the maximum band and if so it will stay at that for the remainder of his tenure (although it will not rise, it won't drop either.) the winning manager also has to declare the length of the contract. This can be one or two seasons. In the last season of a workers contract they must fulfil their appearance requirements or they will be released. In the first season all workers will be on one season contracts. However because of our start time this season will "ignore" Wrestlemania and culminate at Summer Slam.

once a manager goes 24 hours without answering a wage bid the auction is officially over. (or if one worker officially withdraws.) I'm afraid once a bid, or a wage bid is offered it's final. If it puts you in a hole that is your fault!

You can (for now) have a maximum of 10 spaces on your roster. I intend to add the ability to increase this and indeed increase the amount of stars you can play each week, although this presents a manager with a big advantage and so will be suitably expensive!

If your roster is full and you have recently signed a worker you must release a player from your roster, this means paying out their contract and paying a severance fee. Workers can be released for free at the end of a contract but only at the end of a season.

transfers

Not unlike a sports team you have the ability to conduct trades (or transfers as we like to call them in the UK!) This could be, for example, you may suggest that you will swap Bray Wyatt for The Big Show, or Batista for 500k. You can also use buy now, pay later deals, sell on clauses, first refusal deals, pretty much whatever. It will be on you to enforce these though and I may need reminders to keep tabs on more complicated deals (especially if stuff isn't happening until the end of the season! In order for this to work well We will need to have a way of contacting people on a quasi regular basis. Facebook is excellent for this, but we could use pm's in the forum too. I will start a facebook page for this as it's a good place to banter during the live shows etc. So please feel free to add me - Lee-James Bovey: My current profile picture is the infamous "tank man" from Tiananmen Square.

This lays out the meat and potatoes of the game mechanics. Aside from punishments for financial messes which I will concoct shortly, hopefully we won't need 'em! I'm hoping to work on setting up the forum shortly. We may even be able to start playing as of next week! I have invited Crychon to select a team of eight from what's left if he so desires. It means he has a big disadvantage, so I guess it all depends on if he fancies a challenge or not! If there are any questions, fire away!

I sent this to panix in a PM, but as the final team, I declare my roster as:

Adrian Neville

Aiden English

Alexa Bliss

Bayley

Becky Lynch

Naomi

Rey Mysterio Jr.

Simon Gotch

I'm pretty sure none of them are on rosters, but if I missed something, let me know!

Team NXT... and Naomi and Mysterio who might not come back.
