PitFighting Championships

Recommended Posts

This is a Fantasy promotion I've decided to do. Basically the goal is to have a bunch of big beefy dudes beating the hell out of each other in a format similar to Pride. Stomps and soccer kicks are legal. Knees to a downed opponent, elbows to standing and downed opponents. At the moment all fights will be openweight. I don't know if I intend on changing that. I took a bunch of guys from other promotions as well as free agents, but I tried to make sure I didn't take anyone important from any organization.

All fights take place within the confines of a circular pit. The pit is walled with plexiglass

Dmitriy Sosnovskiy vs. Neil Wain

Round 1

Sosnovskiy is 25 years old, 6'3" and 240lbs. He's 8-0. Neil wain is 37 years old, 5'10" and 260lbs. He's 13-4. Mario Yamasaki is their referee and they touch gloves in the middle of the pit. And we're underway. They wade through a dull first two minutes of finding range. Wain was able to get inside a few times landing weak hooks and jabs. Sosnovskiy is trying to find his range. Dmitriy fires off a few strikes they land but Wain is able to rush inside and tie up with Sosnovskiy. Looking for a trip Wain loses control of the grapple and Sosnovskiy ties him up with double underhooks. He is able to use a trip and Dmitriy slams Wain to the mat ending in full guard. Sosnovskiy can't land any real damage and Wain keeps him off balance. Finally they separate and are standing again in the middle. 4 minutes to go in round one. They circle about for awhile. Wain comes over the top with a huge right hand that makes Dmitriy wobble. Wain comes in to follow it up but gets caught with two big right hooks from Sosnovskiy! Down goes Wain! Sosnovskiy throws a soccer kick that hits Wain right in the head and Wain is in a world of pain. Dmitriy follows him to the mat now and is unleashing bombs, finally Yamasaki dives in and it's over.

Dmitriy Sosnovskiy TKOs (Strikes) Neil Wain at 9:05 of Round One

Carl Seumanutafa vs. Brandon Sayles

Round 1

Seumanutafa is 33 years old standing at 6'1" tall and weighing in at 255lbs. He's 8-4. Sayles is 30 years old, 6'5" and 303lbs. His career record is 2-1. The round begins and Seumanutafa lands two stiff jabs. Sayles responds with a crushing right straight that seats Carl. Sayles doesn't go to the ground though, instead he's waving Seumanutafa to his feet. Seumanutafa and Sayles touch gloves and we're back underway. 7:58 to go. They circle about for awhile flinging soft strikes. All things being equal for much of the time. Finally Sayles flies into a double leg that drops Seumanutafa. 4:58. Seumanutafa gets butterfly guard and is able to shove back Sayles, but before anything else happens Sayles steps over into side control. It doesn't take long for the 2-time Army Combatives Champion to move to mount and subsequently apply an armbar. Seumanutafa doesn't have a chance.

Brandon Sayles Submits (Armbar) Carl Seumanutafa at 7:49 of Round One

Mark Godbeer vs. Pawel Nastula

Round 1

8-2, 31 years old, 6'4" 245lbs for Mark Godbeer who will battle the gold medal Olympic judoka Pawel Nastula who at 44 years old stands at six feet exactly and weighs 244lbs. Nastula hasn't enjoyed the same success in his career though, 5-5. In the center of the pit they touch gloves and we are underway. Two minutes gone and Godbeer is trying to jab Nastula to death. Nastula has done nothing but eat them. They continue to dance about the pit, doing absolutely nothing. Finally Godbeer dives in for a takedown that Nastula was never prepared for. They spend the rest of the round on the ground with Godbeer transitioning back and forth between half guard and side control. Our first boring fight of the night and our first fight of night to reach Round 2.

Firas Zahabi scores it 10-9 Godbeer

(did I forget to mention my announcers are Ron Kruck, Cung Le and Firas Zahabi? Because those are the commentators.)

Round 2

Snoozefest of a round. Nothing to report. Nastula dove in for a takedown that Godbeer stuffed. Otherwise they exchanged jabs.

Zahabi's Card - 20-18 Godbeer

Round 3

The round starts and Nastula lands a disgusting straight right that makes Godbeer question his life choices. Nastula follows this by pressing Godbeer into the glass and unloading with elbows and knees. Shoulda done this two round ago Pawel! Pawel judo throws Godbeer and he's in side control. He's working on a kimura, and he has it locked! Only ten seconds to go!! Somehow Godbeer isn't tapping!! It's over! Godbeer survives the round. Nastula is sitting in the middle of the pit with his head in his hands. He is no t happy with his performance.

Zahabi's Card - 29-28 Mark Godbeer.

All three judge's score the bout, 29-28 for you winner...Mark Godbeer!

Travis Fulton vs. Ryan Carr-Ketu

Round 1

This is easily the most bizarre bout on the card. 37 year old Travis Fulton is 6'0" 240lbs with a career record of 251-49-10-1NC. You did not read that wrong. His opponent is 6'0" 205lbs Ryan Carr-Ketu who at 32 years old is 2-4 in his MMA career. "Big" John McCarthy will marshal this experiential mismatch. We are underway. And they are throwing! Carr-Ketu with a big right hook! Fulton with a left uppercut! This continues at a breakneck pace for the next three minutes. Both men are just unloading shots. Carr-Ketu drills Fulton with a right straight that causes him to stumble backward. Fulton clangs Carr-Ketu's body with a left hook that makes him buckle. They slow down rapidly. They're both exhausted. They fall into a messy clinch and collapse into one another. They're standing center pit, trying to wrestle each other to the turf. It isn't working and the fight is quickly going from exhilarating to embarrassing.

Zahabi's Card - 10-9 Fulton

Round 2

They start round two circling and flinging jabs. Each one is hitting but with little power. Carr-Ketu lands a tough left hook but at the expense of being tied up. With double underhooks, Fulton slams Carr-Ketu to the mat. Fulton lays in his guard for the rest of the round exerting pressure and landing small punches.

Zahabi's Card - 20-18 Fulton

Round 3

Fulton is able to get a takedown early after pushing Carr-Ketu into the glass. The round ends with Fulton laying some lazy GnP.

Zahabi's Card - 30-27 Fulton.

All three judge's score the contest 30-27 for your winner by unanimous decision, Travis Fulton!

Kinny Spotwood vs. Mike Bourke

Round 1

28 year old, six foot 225lbs former Tulsa University linebacker Kinny Spotwood is 2-2 and taking on 45 year old six foot 270lbs Mike Bourke. The journeyman Bourke has a record of 9-16-1. It may be reasonable to assume someone is going to sleep in this one. Spotwood is darting in and out and around the pit. Light on his feet, Bourke is rooted to the spot just tossing jabs. Bourke is getting tagged by Spotwood jabs. Bourke manages to catch him with a right straight that staggers him, but Spotwood responds with a right straight of his own that send Bourke tumbling backward. Spotwood unleashes a series of stomps! He's bludgeoning Bourke bad with stomps and soccer kicks and just as Yamasaki begins to move in to stop it, Bourke is able to grab a leg and trips Spotwood to the floor. Kinny falls into Bourke's half guard. 6:25 to go and Spotwood is frustrated. Spotwood can't get out of half guard and he's trying to pound on Bourke but can't gain any offense from there. Finally Spotwood is able to get into side control but he can't do anything. The round ends with Spotwood landing some tame ground and pound on Bourke, who looks like a beached whale on his back.

Zahabi's Card - 10-9 Spotwood

Round 2

Spotwood is moving in and out, landing jabs and straights. 1-2, 1-2, 1-2, 1-2. Bourke is eating tons of shots. Finally another jab-straight combo waddles Bourke backward. Spotwood hits a huge overhand right that sits Bourke on his ass! Spotwood follows him to the floor of the pit and bounces some blows off Bourke's brain. Eventually, Spotwood stands back up not wanting to flounder on the floor like he did last round. Bourke is up with 3:00 left in Round 2. Spotwood is getting a bit tired. He reaches in for a straight, and gets taken down by Bourke! Bourke with a strong, surprising double leg ends up in half guard. Bourke is raining down some blows but Spotwood looks comfortable. Bourke is trying to transition into side control, but he's sloppy. On his way over, Spotwood is able to sweep him and ends up in side control of his own. Spotwood finds an arm, and submits Bourke with the sloppiest armbar you're ever likely to see.

Kinny Spotwood Submits (Armbar) Mike Bourke at 4:37 of Round 2

DJ Linderman vs. Chi Lewis Parry

Round 1

32 year old DJ Linderman is a true MMA veteran. 16-9, he stands 6'1" weighing at 235lbs. Former basketball player, turned kick boxer who turned MMA fighter, 6'9" 243lbs Englishman Chi Lewis Parry is undefeated at 6-0-1NC. Parry will have a whopping 11" reach advantage (73"-84"). They begin and Parry is unloading with straights and rights. Linderman is bouncing around but he can't find his way inside of Parry's reach. Finally, Linderman moves in and grapples eating a few punches for his troubles. He's trying for the takedown but can't bring him down. Still locked, Linderman is trying to torque Parry to the floor. Finally, somehow, Linderman is able to trip Parry to the floor. As soon as they hit the ground though, Parry pushes Linderman off. Linderman then sprints into take some form of ground control, but a scramble starts. Parry ends up on top in half guard! Parry tosses some real slicing elbows, but they don't find the target. Parry goes to move to side control and Linderman tried to get up. Parry grabs him in north-south. Parry hits a few knees to Linderman's head, but Linderman rises to his feet. Parry pushes him into the glass, but Linderman is able to flip the control. Linderman pressures Parry into the glass and rattles his ribs with some big hooks until round one finishes.

Zahabi's Card - 10-9 Linderman

Round 2

Round two begins with two left leg kick, right head kick combos from Parry. They all land. Linderman and Parry trade blows for a little, but Linderman is able to get inside and grapple Parry. After some hard work, Linderman drags Parry down and is in side control. Linderman not going a great job of keeping the position though, Parry is scrambling. Finally Parry is able to break position and they both race to their feet in a grapple. Parry powers Linderman into the glass, hits a few strikes and backpedals out of the grapple, wanting to stand. Parry hits a huge right head kick! It wobbles Linderman. Linderman responds with a weak jab. Linderman is able to tie Parry up and pushes him into the glass wall. The round ends with Linderman in control again. Linderman is sucking a lot of wind at round's end.

Zahabi's Card - 19-19

Round 3

Linderman runs full speed at Parry, and Parry doesn't know what to do! Linderman pins Parry into the glass wall and he holds him there for about two minutes. Linderman is just applying a ton of pressure by driving his shoulder into Parry's chest. Parry is able to leverage his way into spinning out the right side to break the clinch. Parry turns around quick though, and Linderman is backed near the glass. Parry launches a huge right head kick! It wobbles Linderman badly. Parry plants and digs a right hook into Linderman's cerebrum. It's a knockout! Fight of the Year potential right here! Great fight.

Chi Lewis Parry Knocksout (Punch) DJ Linderman at 3:00 of Round 3

Brink throws a looping hook that Hardonk ducks under. Hardonk grapples with Brink and tries to take him down, but Brink falls on top of the trip attempt. As Brink tries to slide out of full guard and into half guard, Hardonk sweeps and scrambles. As they move to their feet, Hardonk finds Brink's back and is in back control. Hardonk throws a damaging right uppercut, and then relinquishes back control. Brink hits a right cross. Hardonk strikes back with a stinging right hook to Brink's chin. Hardonk blasts Brink with a left hook to the body and then follows with a right hook to the chin that rattles Brink's world! Down goes Brink! Hardonk follows him there with hammerfists and Mario Yamasaki yanks him off!

Dingo Brown Tears Pectoral Muscle, Out of Fight

Dingo Brown was supposed to fight Robert Burneika at the PitFighting Championships on CBS Sports Network: Barry vs. Pudzianowski event but has suffered a torn pectoral muscle in the training for that fight in July. As a result he has been replaced by longtime MMA veteran Pedro Rizzo. Rizzo will be a massive step up in competition but he will also be a bigger fight for Burneika. Instead of being the opening fight of the night, Burneika and Rizzo will now take place immediately before the 'Mighty Mo' vs. Sokoudjou bout. A heavy underdog, Burneika will stand to gain a lot with a victory over the more famed Rizzo.
