WCW 2000:- The Journey Back to Glory

1999 has just finished. WCW started the year being slightly behind WWF after they clawed back WCW lead in the Monday night wars. The first show of 1999 saw the Raw pull a 5.7 against Nitros 5 showing just how close the ratings war has become between the two companies.

However things were about the change for the worst. A terrible 1999 had Raw pull ahead. Inconstant booking of the show and a lack of fresh faces at the top of the card saw the WCW faithful switch the channel on Monday Night. What was once a close battle saw WWF start to dominate the war. In an act of desperation WCW called in Vince Russo and Ed Farrara. They tried to right the sinking ship but again the show just reeked of desperation and the audience didn’t buy it. What’s more injuries to key members of the roster left Sting, Hulk Hogan and Goldberg off the active roster to end the year.

Now in a distant second place much like WWF and Monday Night raw during 1996 or 1997 can WCW rebuild, regroup and once again take their spot of the biggest promotion in the world or is the Monday Night War already over.

WCW Nitro

January Week 1

WCW Monday nitro opens with a video package showing the events of last week’s show. We see the main event for the World Championship Wrestling Heavyweight title between Bill Goldberg and Bret Hart and the aftermath of the Starcade match were WCW tried to recreate the Montreal Screw job. Goldberg losing the title match despite not tapping out to the sharpshooter. They use the video to hype up the New World Order group consisting of Jeff Jarrett, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Scott Steiner and the leader of the group Bret Hart.

-

The New World Order theme rings throughout the arena. Bret Harts leads his follow NWO member’s down to the ring, looking smug with himself after the events of the last few weeks. He takes the microphone and starts to cut a promo on how he and the New World Order are once again running the joint. He tells the audience at the Jacksonville Memorial Coliseum. There is no competition left in World Championship Wrestling. Bill Goldberg has taken himself out with a broken arm. Sting is afraid to step foot in the same building as him. He is going to do what Hulk Hogan should have done from the start. The New World Order is back on top. Tonight they will kill the last bits of resistance in World Championship Wrestling. Tonight WCW falls and then the rest of the Wrestling World will follow suit.

Ric Flair answers the call and comes out onstage to face off against the New World Order. Ric Flair says he has been doing this along time and World Championship Wrestling is the house that he built. He has seen many men and woman come and go threw them doors. During all his time on WCW he has learnt that no matter how hard people like Bret Hart tries this old girl won’t stay down. Tonight he will walk out of Jacksonville holding the WCW belt for the 7th time. Ric Flair promises to take the World Title away and then Bret Harts career away from him. The segment ends with Ric Flair and Bret Hart staring one another down.

-

The Cameras jump backstage and we see Bill Goldberg arriving at the arena. His arm is in a cast from the fractured wrist he has recently sustained. The WCW announce team Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan and Mike Tenay speculate on what this may mean as Goldberg isn’t cleared to wrestle because of injury

-End of Part 1-

We get another video package. WCW Cruiserweight Champion Medusa was released from her contract. The Championship is now vacant. During the next three weeks will we see a tournament play out between the best Cruiserweights in the world. The final will take place at Souled Out on PPV to decide a new WCW Cruiserweight Champion. The eight men entering the competition are as followed. Eddie Guerrero, Evan Karagias, Chavo Guerrero. Dean Malenko, Juventud Gerra, Berlyn, Billy Kidman and Ray Misterio Jr.

WCW Cruiserweight Championship 1st Round

Ray Misterio JR VS Billy Kidman

An excellent opening contest between the two Cruiserweights Ray Mistero and Billy Kidman. The Tag Team partners put on a good show knowing each other’s moves inside out. The victory falls with Ray Misterio Jr after 8 minutes by Pin fall. A strong and entertain match to kick of this edition of Monday Nitro.

Konnon enters the ring helping both Ray Misterio Jr and Billy Kidman back to their feet. The two friends stare at one another from across the ring. There looks like some tension in the ranks of the Filthy Animals. Kidman is clearly upset that his search to become Cruiserweight Champion once again has halted the first round of the tournament. Ray Misterio offers his friend his hand; Billy Kidman eventually accepts it and the Filthy celebrate as a team Ray Misterios advancement into the second round.

-

Goldberg is backstage being interviewed. He is ask why he has shown up tonight as he isn’t medical cleared to wrestle on tonight show. Goldberg tells the fans that are right he isn’t medical cleared to wrestle. That’s okay because tonight he isn’t here to wrestle. Goldberg came to Jacksonville tonight to fight. You see he doesn’t need medical cleared to take out the members of the New World Order one by one. He will run through the ranks of the New World Order and make sure they don’t interfere with the World Championship Match later tonight between Bret Hart and Ric Flair. That’s why he has come to the arena this evening. Tonight he takes out the New World Order

-

Bret Hart is then shown backstage, giving orders to each member of the New World Order. He starts with Jeff Jarrett, he tells Jarrett that tonight he has one job and that’s to make sure the United States Championship stays with the dominate faction in wrestling today. Once you have beaten Chris Benoit tonight. Benoit will have to wait in line for another shot at the belt. He then moves on to the Outsiders Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Hart tells them that no team has been as dominate as they have since coming to World Championship Wrestling. He orders them to go out and make an impact and soon enough they will reclaim the championship they never lost. Finally he comes to Scott Steiner. His orders for Scott Steiner are simple. Take that idiot Goldberg out and make him regret ever showing up in Jacksonville this evening.

-End of Part 2-

The Blue Bloods VS The Varsity Club

Two of the veteran teams in World Championship Wrestling, battling it out in an even contest. The Blue Bloods pull out the victory in this content when Lord Steven Regal uses a set of brass knucks to knock his opponent out behind the referee back. He then gets the three count giving his side an impressive victory within 5 minutes.

We head backstage to see the Revolution group hanging out. Shane Douglas is speaking to the troops about his plans for the faction moving forward. He tell them that in three weeks at Souled Out Dean Malenko will bring the Cruiserweight Championship belt into the fold. However the revolution shouldn’t stop there. Dean Malenko has been given his shot now its time for himself and Perry Saturn to make their own impact on World Championship Wrestling. The Revolution begins tonight.

-

Chris Benoit is backstage being interviewed before tonight United States Championship match. He says that at Starcade he was given the United States Championship because his opponent Scott Hall got injured. Then he was forced to defend that title he was award in a ladder match against an opponent he wasn’t expecting Jeff Jarrett. He isn’t going to make any excuses about not being ready for Jeff Jarrett. As champion he should be ready to take on every contender. That lost at Starcade hurt him. Tonight he evokes his rematch clause because he is ready. Tonight he will beat Jeff Jarrett and once again because WCW United States Champion.

-

Staying backstage we cut to a camera in the back that shows the Outsider Scott Hall and Kevin Nash beating down on Harlem Heat, Booker T and Stevie Ray. The Outsiders have jumped them from behind before taking advantage. They bust both Booker T and Stevie Ray open leaving the bothers laying on the ground bleeding. The scene ends with Scott Hall and Nash gloating over Harlem Heat saying that’s one fewer team to get in the way of the Outsiders and the New World Order.

-End of Part 3-

WCW United States Championship

Jeff Jarrett © VS Chris Benoit

The first of two big titles matches on tonight show, the match is an open contest between the champion and the number one contender. They went out with the objective to put on a solid television title match leading into the end of the first hour of Nitro. The finish comes when Shane Douglas injects himself into the match. He attacks Chris Benoit when the referee distracted. Jeff Jarrett gets then victory and keeps the United States Championship.

- End of Hour 1 -

We come back to the top of hour two with Chris Benoit still in the ring. Shane Douglas and the rest of the revolution Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn enter. The three of them continue to beat down Chris Benoit who is powerless to stop this attack from the revolution. After a couple of minutes of this violent attack they leave Benoit laying in the ring and head backstage. The last shot shows Benoit being looked over by the Ring side doctors.

-

We continue backstage were Ric Flair is about to be interview before the World Championship Tonight. Flair tells the audience in the arena and watching at home on TV that make no mistake about it. Bret Hart is one hell of a wrestler. He used to call himself. “The best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.”. That’s would be true if it wasn’t for Ric Flair. The Nature Boy Ric Flair. I mentioned before I have seen many people come through the doors at WCW, Your Goldberg’s, Your Hulk Hogan’s, Your Stings and Your Lex Lugar’s and that Nature Boy has beaten ever last one of them. Bret Hart you are just another cog in the machine. Tonight I take your World Championship then I send you back to home Canada.

-

Dustin Rhodes VS DDP

A short match between the two wrestling, Dustin Rhodes spends the most of match dominating his order opponent in DDP. DDP can get little going in terms of offence until he manages a quick roll-up. He keeps Dustin’s shoulders down for the three count getting the surprise victory over the American Nightmare. Dustin Rhodes looks frustrated after the bell rings.

Not accepting the official decision Dustin keeps on the offensive after the bell. DDP begins to fight back and they brawl around the ring side area for a couple of minutes before making their way into the crown. The fight sprawls across the Jacksonville Memorial Coliseum before making their way backstage.

-End of Part 5-

We return with a short video package promoting Sid Vicious, the video highlights some of his career in World Championship Wrestling and put over he will return to WCW Nitro soon. After the video has finished the commentary team of Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan and Mike Tenay speculate on what will happen when Sid returns to Nitro in a few weeks.

-

We see Scott Steiner walking backstage, when from behind Goldberg appears jumping Steiner. The few of them exchange blows before Goldberg used the cast on his arm to take Steiner down. From there he grabs a steal chair from nearby and uses it on Scott Steiner beating the member of the New World Order and not allowing him to get to his feet. After a couple of minutes he asks some of the backstage official were the rest of the New World Order are hiding. Pissed he walks off camera in search of Jeff Jarrett, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash.

-

We cut to another backstage camera has this time Shane Douglas is waiting to be interview. He is asked about why the Revolution attacked Chris Benoit. Shane Douglas said that he attack Chris Benoit because he is perfect example of everything wrong with this Company and the United States in general. Chris Benoit was one of us. Until WCW management hand-picked him to be their boy. They showed favouritism to Chris Benoit gave him opportunities and even gave him the United States Championship. A title that Chris Benoit wasn’t ready for. We are tired; I am tired of the hard-working people being pushed to the back because we don’t toe the company’s line. So tonight, myself Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko reminded Chris Benoit that without the Revolution. Chris Benoit will never be able to hold the United States Championship.

- End of Part 6-

Vampiro VS Bam Bam Bigelow

A short TV match between the two upper midcard wrestle. The contest is pretty much booked to put Vampiro being the younger guy over. Vampiro obtains the victory within 5 minutes.

Goldberg is once again shown backstage; this time his victim is WCW United States Champion Jeff Jarrett. He assaults Jeff Jarrett from behind with a steal chair knocking him to the ground. From there he continues the assault smashing the chair into Jeff Jarrett’s side until he can’t move. Eventually backstage officials pull Goldberg away from his victim; Goldberg yells “who’s next!” As he has left another member of the New World Order lying beaten in his path.

-

We get another backstage Camera shot of Bret Hart and Ric Flair heading to the ring. The commentary team put over the main event that’s happening next and comment on Goldberg path of destruction since arrive at the arena. They tell the fans watching at home on TV that Bret Hart and Ric Flair is a main event that you won’t want to miss.

- End of Part 7-

WCW World Heavyweight Championship Match

Bret Hart © VS Ric Flair

Bret Hart is accompanied to the ring by what’s left of the New World Order, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Ric Flair starts the match with no one in his corner. As soon as the bell rings Scott Hall and Nash start distracted Ric Flair so Bret Hart can take advantage. This countines until Goldberg with a steel chair comes down to the ringside area as he looks to finish off the New World Order. Nash and Hall start brawling with Goldberg on the outside. Inside the ring the contest is even. Eventually the referee is knocked out. Hall and Nash who had overpowered Goldberg on the outside enter the ring and the New World Order three on one Ric Flair. Ed Ferrara comes running down to the ring in a referee’s shirt as Bret Hart pins Ric Flair. Ferrara counts the pin fall after 12 minutes ending the match.

After the bell Nash and Hall throw Goldberg into the ring. The three of them keep the attack going before Lex Lugar’s music hits and the crowd pops. The total packages charges down to the ring and battles with the New World Order. This distraction allows both Goldberg and Ric Flair to fight back as well. The show finished with Goldberg, Lugar and Flair standing in the ring with the New World Order in retreat.

- End of Show -

Final Show Rating:- 69

TV Rating :- 3.92

Notes:- I hate writing first shows as i always struggle with getting storylines going. I've tried to book this like a TV Episode were the first 10-15 minutes its just to set the overall story for the evening that continues threw the night. This being the World Championship Match and Goldberg taking down the New World Order. Going to try to release an episode every 2/3 days. Hope you enjoyed the show and feel free to comment.

There are some interesting personalities that you can work with at this point in history, and a lot of uninteresting people that you are saddled with. Your write-up is very precise, and that's fine. I don't feel like I can give much perspective on your storylines given that the game is just starting, but when I think of something, I will chime it in. 2000 is a great linchpin where the "old" stars of the late 80s-early 90s were still on top and capable enough when they wanted to be, but the new stars were mature enough to carry their own, and it was definitely time for a change. I look forward to seeing what you do with this time period.

<em>Kinda hoping you didn't just release Madusa. Not that I ever know what to do with her, but I always keep her on my roster just because I consider it Eric's "thank you" for burning her bridge with Vince. Eddie Guerrero VS Evan Karagias

Karagias should improve his skills after this one.

The Filthy Animals VS The Blue Bloods

In any combination Animals can easily defeat Blue Bloods.

Shane Douglas VS La Parka

Distraction finish?

Big T VS JT Wilson

Tyson Kidd? Squash.

Vampiro VS Dustin Rhodes

50 something plus match. I guess you are serious about Vamp, if he pinned Bam Bam in 5 minutes. Also DDP could be involved...

The New World Order VS Lex Lugar and Ric Flair

Four on two. Hart puts Luger in the Sharpshooter to show dominance.

Ric Flair music hits to open the show as he leads Goldberg and Lugar down towards the ring. Flair starts of by taking the Microphone. He addresses the fans present at the Pensacola Civic Centre. “Monday Nitro, the Nature Boy Ric Flair vs WCW World Heavyweight Champion Bret Hart. I took Bret Hart to the limit despite the interference from the New World Order. In the end on that night, I came up short. I promised I would take the world title away from the hitman and I failed. I Promised I would end the New World Order and I came up short. I realised on Monday night. I and the two men who stand beside me haven’t always seen got along. However Goldberg, Lex Lugar and I do stand united against the threat of the New World Order.”

Flair passes the microphone over the Lex Lugar to address the audience. “You know I’ve been fighting this battle for a long-time. I’ve been fighting since Hulk Hogan turned his back on WCW. I’ve stood on the side of World Championship Wrestling. I wore the Red and Black of the Wolfpac. Finally World Championship Wrestling won. Finally our battle, my battle was over. Then Bret Hart comes along and resurrects The New World Order. I came out to help Goldberg and Ric Flair on Monday because I stand were I have always stood. I stand with World Championship Wrestling.”

Lex Lugar then passes the Microphone on to the final member of the trio. “Bret Hart, I might not be medically cleared to wrestle right now. It’s as I said on Monday night. I don’t need medical clearance to beat you and the rest of the New World Order into a bloody pulp. What you see before you is a united front against the New World Order. Myself, Ric Flair and Lex Lugar are coming for you Hart. What out the New World Order because you’re next!” After the promos are done Goldberg drops the microphone as the group heads to the backstage area. (60)

Scott Hall and Kevin Nash you took it on yourself to take out the Harlem Heat. The outsider proved once again! they are the most dominate tag team in WCW and the World.”

After the victory Lord Steven Regal takes the microphone. “What you bloody well see before you is the best tag team in America. Last Monday night on Nitro we defeated The Varsity Club. Tonight we have counited our winning streak by defeating the Filthy Animals. You see none of you American scum can come close to me and Squire David Taylor. We stay backstage cutting to a scene with Shane Douglas being interviewed. “On Monday Night I took that United States Championship belt away from Chris Benoit. For a long- time Chris Benoit was one of us. Then he betrayed me and his comrades in the Revolution. Chris Benoit is everything we despise. A Wrestler hand-picked by WCW management. A wrestler handed opportunity after opportunity, while we get nothing. On Monday night the Revolution took the first steps to righting that wrong. Tonight we saw that continue when Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn took out Eddie Gurerrero. This is just the beginning.” (62)

-

Shane Douglas puts on an impressive display in this contest. Douglas is allowed to control the match for most of the contest. He is almost playing with La Parka at times during the contest. Towards the end of the match La Parka starts to fight his way back into the contest. The fight back is quickly shutdown however as Perry Saturn distracts the referee allowing Dean Malenko to interfere. This interference leads to Shane Douglas picking up the victory. (52)

-

The Cameras on nitro cut to the back stage area. We see an ambulance pull up to Tampa expo hall in Tampa Florida. Goldberg is shown being loaded into the ambulance. Ric Flair takes over, “Lugar listen to me. I’ve done this dance a million times over. We have been booked tonight in a handicap match against 4 men, The Outsiders, Bret Hart and Scott Steiner. The odds are stacked against us. That doesn’t matter because we are still united. Right now we are the only thing standing in the way of the New World Order running the joint. Tonight we must win for World Championship Wrestling.” (57)

Big T VS JT Wilson

Nothing more than a glorified squash match for Big T WCW debt. Big T dominates the contest from start to finish with the young TJ Wilson getting in no offence. Big T gets the pin fall after a couple of minutes. The crowd didn’t seem to care about this contest. (24)

The cameras head backstage once again and we see The Blue Bloods hanging out. They are confronted by The Varsity Club. The two teams face each other down for a couple of seconds before Rick Steiner starts to talk. “On Monday night you cheated to get the victory. Tonight you did the same thing to the Filthy Animals. Then you go and declare yourself the best Tag Team in World Championship Wrestling. At Souled out you have entered yourselves into the Tag Team Championship match. This is a warning! We will see you at Souled out in three weeks and the Varsity Club will be leaving World Tag Team Champions.” (34)

-

Bret Hart is then shown in Ed Farerra office. It was Ed Farerra who counted the pin-fall on Monday Nitro. “Farerra firstly I would like the thank you. No Monday Nitro you didn’t make the easy choice but you did make the right choice. Thanks to you the world championship belt has stayed where it belongs with the New World Order. Thanks to you as acting commissioner, the New World Order has a chance tonight to take out the last hope of World Championship Wrestling. As long as I am champion and you stay on the side of the New World Order, you will have our protection.” (54)

Dustin is knocked out from the move as Diamond Dallas Pages pose over his victim. Diamond Dallas Pages music hit and he leaves the arena. The segment ends with a close up of Dustin Rhodes lying in the ring. (58)

-

The Cameras cut away from the ringside area. We see a pissed off Harlem Heat arriving at the building. A backstage interview tries to get some comments from Harlem Heat. They just shove the announcer out of the way appearing to be in no mood to talk. The camera cuts back ringside. The commentary team then speculate why Harlem Heat are here? What’s this mean for the New World Order? (50)

-End of Part 6-

We come back from the advert break to see Harlem Heat attacking The Outsiders. The two teams brawl back and forth like they did on Nitro. This time it’s Harlem Heat that get the upper hand in the fight. Harlem Heat uses this opportunity to get revenge and injury the Outsiders before there match later on this evening. (51)

-

The Camera cuts Chirs Benoit backstage ready to be interviewed. “On Nitro for the second time I lost my chance to be United States Champion to Jeff Jarrett. Shane Douglas has been running his month on Nitro and tonight about how I sold out. How I am hand-picked to by the company. I guess it never occurred to Shane Douglas that he might not be as talented as he thinks he is. Leaving the Revolution has led to opportunity’s I never had. Opportunity’s the Revolution has taken from me. Monday night on Nitro I challenge Shane Douglas to a match to settle this score. Once am do with Douglas am coming to get my belt back Jeff Jarrett.” (48)

-

We get a small recap of the events that happened between Harlem Heat and the Outsiders before being shown the commissioner’s office. Ed Farerra has just got news that Scott Hall and Kevin Nash will be unable to compete in tonight’s handicap main event. Bret Hart is seriously annoyed with this news. “You told us Harlem Heat weren’t here tonight! That they were at home resting after the attack on Monday Night. Now you mean to tell us, not only are Harlem Heat here but they have injured the Outsiders. Farerra this isn’t good enough. If you want the New World Orders protect you best guarantee that myself and Steiner walk out with the victory tonight Understood!”

Farerra is shaken by this bullying from the New World Order. “I’ll make sure that tonight the NWO leave Tampa with the victory” (62)

-End of Part 7-

Bret Hart & Scott Steiner (New World Order) VS Ric Flair and Lex Lugar

Bret Hart and Scott Steiner team together representing the New World Order after Harlem Heat took care of the Outsiders before the match. Scott Steiner starts off as Bret Hart wants to peace of Ric Flair or Lex Lugar. This continues until Scott Steiner can take control. The NWO cut the ring of beating down Ric Flair with quick tags. This dominates the middle part of the match. Eventually Ric Flair is able to get the hot tag and Lex Lugar takes control. Ed Farerra makes his way down to the ring remembering the threat from Bret Hart. He sees a chance to interfere trying to attack Lex Lugar but misses instead connecting with a steal chair shot to Scott Steiner. Lugar throws Ed Fararra to the outside before getting the victory for his team. (67)

Bret Hart is pissed off on the outside after Ed Farerra inadverntly cost the New World Order the matchup. Ed Farerra is in the ring being surrounded by Ric Flair and Lex Lugar. Thursday Night War:- WWF Smackdown 4.33 VS WCW Thunder 2.57

Notes:- Firstly the crowed really weren't big on Big T?. I wonder if he was surpose to have Langston as his surname?. The introduction of the former Ahmed Johnson floped with The Blue Bloods/Varsity Club segement.

I think WCW could do with a B level TV show at the moment just to get some of the lower/midcard over. I don't know what happened to WCW Worldwide in this mod? Guess the TV companies had a premonition and cancelled its syndication a year early. I think we are closer to getting a victory on Thursday than we are to winning the war on Monday night's. The first real sign of a momentum shift back towards WCW will be getting them victories on Thursday Night.

Why would you think that Ahmed Johnson could be entertaining? By that time he wasn't in shape. He has OK skills to thrive on squashes, but you can't really expect him to put good ratings. Also "domination" road agent note is probably dragging the grade, plus I think Tyson has zeroes in popularity. There you have it, 24.

In my save his best match was against Hall and Nash. I think I protected him, so Stevie Ray did all the work. And they delivered a 70, which is nice for a guy like Big T. But take into account that all the guys had the same wrestling style and pretty similar sizes, add Outsider's popularity! Not so good now, huh?

And to be fair, Benoit/Malenko/Saturn getting a 39 is much worse than getting a 34 from the veterans. What happened there?

WCW Nitro Preview

The New World Order entered WCW Thunder looking for revenge. A United WCW alliance formed with Goldberg, Ric Flair and Lex Lugar stood ready to do battle. Bret Hart though he had manipulated acting WCW Commissioner Ed Farrara into getting revenge for this faction lost. Scott Steiner successfully eliminated Goldberg. The Outsiders, Hart and Steiner look to finish of Flair and Lugar in a handicap match, until Harlem heat levelled the playing field. Lugar and Flair got the victory before getting some revenge on Farrara.

The Acting WCW commissioner has promised there is be hell to pay for WCW United. We have three massive matches for this Monday Nitro. The Outsiders face Harlem heat inside a steel cage. Ric Flair fights Scott Steiner and WCW World Champion Bret Hart VS Lex Lugar. Can the New World Order and Ed Farrara get their revenge? With two weeks to go before we return to PPV what will happen in the run-up to WCW Souled Out.

Full Match rundown:-

Cruiserweight Championship Tournament 1st round

Chavo Guerrero VS Dean Malenko

Chris Benoit VS Shane Douglas

Steal Cage Match

The Outsiders VS Harlem Heat

Creative Control VS The Filthy Animals

Ric Flair VS Scott Steiner

Bret Hart VS Lex Lugar

Blodyxe = 3/6

Beejus = 4/8

@Blodyxe I don't remember how good Ahmed Johnson was during his WCW run. Kind of remember some fued with him and Steive Ray VS Booker T. I have an idea for what I want him to so past Souled Out. Its just getting to that point.

@Beejus I originally stripped Madusa of the belt. Was going to try to put together a womans division, hired Jazz and a very young Nattie Neidhart. To start the game my backstage rating was 35% and Madusa was having a extremely negative impact. That caused me to press the release button with a few other midcard/lower midcard workers.

WCW Monday Nitro opens with a recap video package. We are shown some of the events from Thursday Night Thunder. The video is focused around the main event from Thunder. Harlem heats return to take out the outsiders before the main event and then the tag team matchup between Bret Hart and Scott Steiner VS Ric Flair and Lex Lugar. The video ends with Lugar getting the pin fall over and Bret Hart standing on the entrance way. (76)

The New World orders music hits. Bret Hart leads the gang and Ed Farrara down to ringside. Ed Farrara takes the microphone first. “Thursday night on WCW Thunder, Ric Flair and Lex Lugar put my hands-on me. Am the acting WCW commissioner! No one put their hands-on me and gets away with me. Standing behind me is the most dominate force in wrestling. Ric Flair, Lex Lugar and Harlem Heat tonight I make you regret crossing me.”

Ed Farerra passes the microphone over the Kevin Nash. “Booker T and Stevie Ray, last Monday night me and Scott Hall beat you down. We sent you home and you guy should have sent you home. On WCW Thunder you guys stuck your nose into the business of the New World Order. Do you think you can beat us down and get away with it? Me and Hall we had a word with Ed Fararra and tonight we get you inside a steal cage. Tonight we end the Harlem Heat.”

Bret Hart then takes the microphone to address the audience. “Lex Lugar, last Monday night you come out and interfere with the New World Order. On Thursday you gave your team the victory. Lex Lugar congratulations tonight you have my attention. You see tonight Ed Farerra has granted me a one-on-one match. You mentioned on Smackdown how you have stood on the side of WCW. Well tonight I make sure you won’t be standing. Now Ric Flair you have yourself a match tonight against the muscle Scott Steiner. Now just like Goldberg on Thunder, Scott Steiner is going to make sure you are carted out of this arena in an ambulance.” Bret Hart drops the microphone and he leads the New World Order to the back. (60)

-

The camera cuts backstage to Harlem Heats locker room. Stevie Ray is trying to fire up his brother before there match inside the Steel cage later on this evening. Cruiserweight Championship Tournament 1st round

Dean Malenko VS Chavo Guerrero Jr

Brilliant opening contest for Nitro between the two cruiserweights Dean Malenko and Chavo Guerrero Jr. The match is given a solid seven minutes. Plenty of time for both men chances to show off their specific skills. The finish of the match comes from pin fall when Dean Malenko uses the ropes to keep Chavo Guerrero down for the pin. (58)

-

The revolution continues their normal trick of attacking wrestler after the match. This time Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko take turns in beating down Chavo Guerrero Jr. The young Guerrero is taken apart by the revolution until his uncles Eddie Guerreros music hits. Eddie charges down to the ring running off the revolution. He checks on Chavo as the commentary team remind us that Eddie Guerrero earned his spot in the semi-finals this past Thursday on Thunder. (45)

-

Lex Lugar is backstage being interview about this main event match this evening. “Thursday night on Thunder it felt good to finally get my hands-on that little coward Ed Farrara. To be honest punching that little runt in the face felt good. Now tonight I learnt that he has granted me a match with the World Heavyweight Champion Bret Hart. I’m kind of glad Bret Hart has the commissioner in his pocket. On Thursday I pined Scott Steiner. Tonight I pin the champion and Bret and Bret when we are finished tonight am coming for your World Championship.” (63)

-End of Part 2-

We come back from the advert break to see Ed Fararra offices. The Filthy Animals enter the office and approach the active commissioners. Billy Kidman has something to say about the match from WCW Thunder between themselves and the Blue Bloods. “Thursday night, myself and Ray Misterio had the match won. Then Steven Regal pulled out a set of brass knuckles hit Ray Misterio and picked up the win. They then go and enter themselves in the tag team championship match at Souled out. Well me and Misterio we want in that championship match. The filthy Animals want another opportunity against the Blue Bloods in two weeks on PPV.”

Ed Farrara considers this for a second. “You guys want an opportunity? Well tonight you have a tag team match against Creative Control. If you win tonight then I’ll put you in the Tag Team title match with The Varsity Club and The Blue Bloods.” (43)

-

A video package plays documenting some of the history between Chris Benoit and Shane Douglas. We are shown some clips from last week’s Nitro with Shane Douglas interfering in the WCW United States Championship match. We are then reminded of Douglas claiming Benoit is a corporate sell out, hand-picked by WCW management. We then see Chris Benoit make the save on WCW Thunder. We are then reminded that Chris Benoit VS Shane Douglas is next. (59)

Chris Benoit VS Shane Douglas

Chris Benoit and Shane Douglas finally get a chance to step into the ring. That match between them is a pretty close contest. The leader of the Revolution Shane Douglas and Benoit are both ready for this contest. The match last for around five minutes when Jeff Jarrett comes from the crowd. The United State Champion enters the ring hitting Benoit and then Douglas with the title. The referee calls for the bell ending the contest with a double disqualification. (69)

Jeff Jarrett stands over the bodies of Chris Benoit and Shane Douglas. He poses over both of the two wrestlers after hitting them both with the United States Championship. “Benoit and Shane Douglas, it seems that you both needed reminding who the United States Champion is. What you see before you is what a real Champion looks like.” Jeff Jarrett drops the microphone and then leaves with his United States belt. (65)

-

The Music of the New World Order hits and Kevin Nash and Scott Hall head towards the ring. The Outsiders are given a special entrance to highlight the importance of this up-and-coming tag team matchup. The numbers game is too much for Harlem Heat. The Outsiders pick up the victory after 10 minutes. (80)

Bret Hart and the outsiders lock themselves inside the steel cage with Harlem Heat. Kevin Nash and Scott Hall go to work throwing Booker T and Stevie Ray into the sides of the cage. They also grate their heads against the metal busting both of Harlem Heat open. Bret Hart is directing traffics as the New World Order are determined remove Booker T and Stevie Ray. -End of Hour 1-

We come back to Ric Flair and Lex Lugar hanging out backstage. “We have to look past what just happened Lugar. Tonight you’re in the ring with Bret Hart. Hart maybe hiding behind the New World Order but he is as dangerous as they come. Tonight you can pin Bret Hart and make yourself the number one contender. If you look past the Hitman however he will beat you.”

Lex Lugar considers what Ric Flair has said. “Ric tonight you’re not facing a pushover tonight either. Scott Steiner destroyed Goldberg last Thursday on WCW Thunder. If you take your eyes of the ball Steiner will destroy you. The New World Order has already got revenge on Harlem Heat tonight. If we aren’t careful we will be next.” The segment ends having Lugar and Flair putting over both their opponents for tonight’s match. (74)

Creative Control VS Filthy Animals

Ray Misterio Jr and Billy Kidman are representing The Filthy Animals. This match was basically designed to put the animals over. Kidman and Misterio do tease a little bit of friction during the contest. The Filthy Animals get the victory after about five minutes. The momentum isn’t enough however as Steiner puts flair away with an impressive victory. (77)

Scott Steiner hasn’t finished with Ric Flair. He beats flair down after the bell. Steiner then roles outside the ring. Steiner looks under the ring before pulling out a table. -End of Part 6-

An unannounced bonus match for this edition of Nitro. The recently arrived Big T gets another dominate victory in a squash match. The question of this result was never in doubt. Big T puts Tony Marinara away in under two minutes. Big T needs to move onto some stronger opposition in the near future. (25)

-

The American Nightmare Dustin Rhodes music hits. Dustin makes his way down to the ring. He takes a microphone to address the audience in present tonight. “I am Dustin Rhodes and I am your worst nightmare. I’ve spent years living in the shadow of the American Dream. I wanted to get away from my father so much. I moved up north and painted my face gold. I pretended to be something I’m not. I have come to realise who I am. I am the American Nightmare.”

Dustin pause for a second before counting on. “Diamond Dallas Page, let me take you back. The year is 1991. You headed down to the power planet wanting to be a wrestler. Dusty Rhodes, my father took a 35-year old rookie on. Dusty trained you he moulded you and made you into the wrestler you are today. Dusty abandoned me and made you. Three World Championship, Two United States Championship, World Tag Team Championships and a Television Championship, achievements that my father gave to you. Achievements that I should have. Diamond Dallas Page when I look at you, I see my father and it makes me sick.”

DDP’s music hit the arena and he makes his way down to the ring. DDP and Dustin come face-to-face. “Dustin I understand why you are mad. You feel that I’ve been given all the breaks in this business. You’re mad that I have got to a level you have never reached. You’re mad that I’ve been World Champion something you have never done. Dustin your father didn’t take me to that level I did.”

WCW Thunder

January Week 2

Nitro opens with the normal video package recapping important events from the last show. This video is based around the dominate New World Order from WCW Nitro. The package opens with highlights from the Steel Cage match. It shows Bret Hart forcing the officials to open the cage door. The New World Order using the numbers to their advantage allowing The Outsiders to win the match. It then recaps Scott Steiner’s dominate win over Ric Flair before power bombing the veteran though a table. Finally Lex Lugar is shown tapping out to the Sharpshooter before the New World Order standing dominate in the ring. (70)

-

The New World Orders music hits once against to start WCW Thunder. Leader Bret Hart leads the troops down towards the ring. Bret then takes the microphone to address the fans present. “Last Monday night, you fans witness me proving I am still the best wrestler in the world today. I stand before you as the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. I stand before you as your World Heavyweight Champion. Now in just over a weeks time WCW have a PPV named Souled Out. I came out here tonight to tell you that I will not be defending the World Title at that PPV.”

Bret pauses to allow the fans at Lake Charles Civic Centre to boo. “That’s correct; you see my good buddie Ed Farrara has given me the night off. I met with WCW commissioner Ed Farrara this afternoon. We talked about contenders for the world title. We talked about Goldberg but his out injured. We talked about Ric Flair but I already beat him in a title match last week. We talked about Lex Lugar but guess what? I beat him as well. You see Ed Farrara and I came to the same conclusion. There is no one left in the WCW locker room on my level. So in just over a weeks’ time at WCW Souled Out. I’ll be sitting at home with my feet up. I’ll have an ice cold beer in one hand and the World Title in the other. I’ll be watching Souled Out on my big TV like all of you.”

Bret passes the microphone over to WCW commissioner Ed Farrara. “Now onto tonight show. I stood here in this ring on Monday. I promised revenge for the people that hurt me. Harlem Heat didn’t walk out of the steel cage match. Scott Steiner put that old man Ric Flair threw a table. Now Harlem Heat and Ric Flair aren’t in attendance tonight as planned. Lex Lugar is stupid enough to show up to WCW Thunder. In tonights main event we finish the job we started on Monday. Lex Lugar will face six time WCW World Tag Team Champions the Outsiders tonight in a handicap match.” Ed Farrara drops the microphone and the New World Order head towards the back. (71)

-

The Camera cuts to Lex Lugar who is backstage. Lugar is shown warming up. Lugar has an intense look on his face. The commentary team for WCW Thunder question if Lex Lugar is capable of overcoming the odds tonight. (57)

-End of Part 1-

Nitro comes back from the adverts with another video package. This package is based around the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament. The video recaps some of the matchs that have happened so far. We see highlights from Rey Misterio Jr VS Billy Kidman as Misterio advances, Eddie Guerrero VS Evan Karagias and Guerrero’s victory to place him in the semi-finals. The last part of the video shows Dean Malenko VS Chavo Guerreo JR and how the Revolution sent their man into the semi-finals as well. Its announced the final match of the first round will happened next. (52)

Cruiserweight Championship Tournament 1st round

Juventud Guerrara VS Berlyn

The final first found match of the tournament and possible the weakest. Juventud and Berlyn are given around 8 mintues to work with in the first match of the evening. They put on a high past match full of energy. It’s Berlyn that picks up the victory and advances. Berlyn gets the pinfall after using the ropes for extra leverage. (42)

Berlyn music is playing as Dean Malenko makes his way down to the ring. Malenko looks like he is about to attack Berlyn until Eddie Guerreros music plays. Eddie runs into the ring standing before the two other cruiserweights. The three man exchange looks. Finally Rey Misterios music hits and the final member of the semi-finals enter the ring. Misterio gets into the face of Dean Malenko. Eddie gets into the face of Berlyn. The four of them stand face to face as it’s announced the semi-finals will happen on Nitro. Rey Misterio VS Dean Malenko and Eddie Guerrero VS Berlyn are the matches for the next round. (45)

-

Ric Flair joins by means of video link. “I am Ric Flair. I am the Nature Boy and I have earned the title of the dirtiest player in the game. I’ve been in this business along time. I wrestled my first match in 1972 almost 30 years ago. I’ve been on the end of some ass kicking’s. Now what Scott Steiner did to me on Nitro, was an ass kicking. Steiner beat me in the middle of the ring but that wasn’t enough for the New World Order. Steiner took me, power bombed me threw a table. Scott Steiner left my laying broken in half in the ring.”

Ric Flair lifts his shirt to show his ribs tapped up. “This is what Steiner did to me on Monday Night. Steiner broke my rib. Now I have had injuries before and I’ve worked threw them. If the New World Order think a broken rib will keep me out they are sadly mistaken. I’ll be at Nitro this coming Monday and Scott Steiner. I’ll be coming for you.” (76)

-End of Part 2-

We are joined by the Varsity Club and Kevin Sullivan. Sullivan has the microphone as Mike Rotunda and Rick Steiner stand behind him. “The Blood Blue has spent the last few weeks cheating their way up the tag team rankings in World Championship Wrestling. Last week on Monday Nitro they got the victory by using brass knuckles to cheat us. They did the same thing last week to the Filthy Animals. Now in a weeks’ time at Souled Out the Varsity Club have the chance to avenge that lost. You fooled us the first time Blue Bloods but on PPV with the Tag Team Titles on the line. The Varsity Club will make sure you don’t fool us again.” (46)

Steven Regal vs. Rick Steiner

The Blue Bloods and the Varsity Club are represented in this match. Rotunda and David Taylor are outside the ring. Regal and Steiner work an open match with each other. Outside the ring Taylor keeps trying to get involved but Rotunda stops him from doing so. The match lasts for around 8 mintues. Taylor hits Rotunda with DDT on the outside then jumps on the ring apron distracting the referee. While the referee has his back turned Taylor throws the brass knuckles to Steven Regal. Regal hits Steiner with them knocking him out before getting the pin and another win for the Blue Bloods. (54)

Mike Rotunda is mad with the match result. He attacks David Taylor on the outside throwing him into the ring barrier. Inside the ring Rick Steiner has come around. Steiner attacks Regal for cheating while Rotunda brawls with Taylor on the outside. The two teams exchange blows around the ringside area before the fight spills over into the crowd. They battle across the arena and into the backstage area ending the segment. (36)

-End of Part 3-

Chris Benoit is backstage being interviews. “Shane Douglas I stood here last week and said I would put an end to you. I said I would put an end to the Revolution. Shane we go back a long way. This all started with me and you over in Philadelphia. You told us stories about how you were held back. How it didn’t work out for you because the man in charge didn’t like you. You preached about how if you want something you’ll have to do it yourselves.”

“When you came to WCW you bought that attitude with you. Now Shane Douglas times have changed. I am not a naive young man willing to follow you like I was in Philadelphia. Everything I have in World Championship Wrestling I have because I worked for it. Now on Monday you may have survived because Jeff Jarrett interfered. At Souled Out Jarrett won’t be around to save you. I hope you are the Revolution are watching Douglas. This is what happens when you work for something.” (50)

Chris Benoit VS Buff Bagwell

Buff Bagwells return to WCW television. It’s Chris Benoit who walks out of WCW Thunder with the victory. Benoit won the match by means of submission after being allowed to go 10 minutes. The match was booked so Benoit can get a strong victory leading into WCW Souled Out and his rematch against Jeff Jarrett. (56)

A car is shown pulling up at the arena. The Camera man approaches the car as the door opens. Goldberg steps out of the vehicle. The commentary team go mad with excitement. Goldberg stands there for a second before heading towards the arena doors. The commentators put over Goldberg injury and beat down by Scott Steiner last week and question what he has come to do this evening. (77)

-End of hours 1-

We start the second hour of Nitro with the New World Order backstage. Bret Hart is talking to the troops. “So that idiot Goldberg has decided to show up on Nitro. I thought he would have had enough when Scott Steiner put him in an ambulance last week. I don’t know what Goldberg reason for being here is but clearly he hasn’t had enough of Scott Steiner. Steiner I want you to go and find Goldberg and remind him what happens.”

Steiner nods before leaving the locker room. Bret Hart then continues talking to the other New World Order members. “Jeff Jarrett, you have a match tonight against Diamond Dallas Page. Make sure you get the victory. We need to keep that United States Championship in the NWO ranks. Nash and Hall you know what you need to-do tonight when you face Lex Lugar. Now let’s finish this.” (58)

-

Big T is featured in another training video. The video follows the same pattern as last week. Big T is shown working out and then dominating lower level opposition. The idea behind the video is Big T an unstoppable Monster. The video ends with the announcement that Big T will take another victim next. (29)

Big T VS Steve Armstrong

Another squash match for Big T this time against veteran performer Steve Armstrong. Armstrong starts the match taking an initiative. Big T is quickly able to stop is momentum. From then on Big T controls the short match before getting another impressive victory by pin fall. This match was an improvement on his first couple of matches. (29)

The camera’s cut to the backstage area. Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn are shown to be attacking Chavo Guerrero Jr. The Revolution members are able to double team the young Guerrero. The assault is broken up however by Eddie Guerrero who appears to save his nephew. The Revolution split as soon as Eddie arrives. The commentary team then hype up a tag match later in the show between The Revolution and Los Guerrero’s. (48)

-

We stay backstage as Lugar is shown approaching his friend WCW United member Goldberg. Lugar is seen to be questioning why Goldberg has shown up tonight. “Goldberg I have to say it’s good to see you tonight. The New World Order took out Ric Flair and Harlem Heat. It’s good to see a friendly face around here this evening. I have to ask though what your reason for coming to WCW Thunder tonight?”

Goldberg stares Lex Lugar down before responding. “I’m here to finish the New World Order. Kill them off. I know just the way to do it.” Goldberg then pushes past Lugar as we head into commercials.” (66)

-End of part 5-

Dustin Rhodes is shown backstage. “I’m waiting Diamond Dallas Page, I’m watching you. Watching my father’s creation however Diamond Dallas Pages your time is running out. The dreams you have of championship gold? The dreams you have of once again being WCW World Champion. The clock is ticking on them. I will take them dreams from you the same way you took my father from me. At Souled Out I’ll remind everyone in WCW why I am the American Nightmare. Diamond Dallas Page at Souled out I will be your Nightmare.” (60)

The Revolution VS Los Guerreros

Dean Malenko starts from The Revolution against Eddie Guerrero of Los Guerreros. The two men who are both in the semi-finals of the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament exchange moves early in the match. Malenko splits the ring in half and works some quick tags with Perry Saturn against Eddie. This continues until Eddie is able to hot tag in Chavo. Chavo is on fire taking down the Revolution wanting revenge from attacked earlier in the evening. The referee soon loses control of the contest. The two teams brawl until Dean Malenko is able to pin Chavo Guerrero Jr picking up the victory for his team. (60)

We hear about a disturbance backstage. The Camera cut to Goldberg and Scott Steiner brawling like they have done the last few weeks. Goldberg appears to have surprised Steiner with the attack and is in control. Goldberg lays Steiner up against a table in the backstage area. Steiner appears to be dazed at this point. Goldberg lines up the spear planting Steiner threw the table. Goldberg looking angry leaves Steiner broken in half. (78)

-End of Part 6-

DDP VS Jeff Jarrett

The semi-main event between Jeff Jarrett and Diamond Dallas Page. The two wrestlers have a good open contest in the 8 minutes they are given. The two wrestlers are evenly matched during the contest. The deciding factor is the America Nightmare Dustin Rhodes. Rhodes appears from the crowd. DDP is lying outside the ring. Jeff Jarrett has the referee distracted. Rhodes DDT’s Diamond Dallas Pages on to a steel chair before throwing him back into the ring. Jarrett then pins DDP for the win. (61)

The Camera’s cut backstage to Ed Farrara’s office. Goldberg charges into the office and takes out the security the New World Order has placed on Farrara. Farrara looks terrified being along with Goldberg. Goldberg heads over to Farrara picks him up and shoves him against the wall. “Now Farrara you listen to me very carefully. You have no protection; them security guards can’t help you. The New World Order can’t help you. The only thing that stopping me from breaking your neck is what mood am in. You best keep me in a good mood understood?”

A shaken Ed Farrara responds with “Yes.. Yes Mr Goldberg I understand how can I help you today?”

Goldberg lifts his fist up ready to punch Ed Farrara in the face. “I want you to book a match, the main event match for WCW Souled Out. I want to book my pals WCW United, Harlem Heat, Ric Flair and Lex Lugar against the New World Order. The match I want you to book is a 4 V 4 Steel Cage warfare match. If the New World Order win they keep control of WCW. If WCW united win the match the New World Order must disband forever. You will resign as acting WCW commissioner and I will be appointed in your place. Now do I have my match or do I need to give you a lesion in pain first.”

Ed Farrara is almost crying from Goldberg threats. “You have you’re match. I’ll have an official contract written up for WCW Nitro” Goldberg lets Farrara go leaving the office. The commentary team talk about the massive main event just made for WCW Souled Out. (60)

-End of Part 7-

Lex Lugar VS The Outsiders

Lex Lugar has the chance to strike first blood on behalf of WCW United. The numbers game for the outsiders is too much for Lugar. Nash and Hall use their experience as a tag team, quick tags keeping a freshman in. They dominate Lugar but aren’t able to put him away. The referee gets accidentally knocked during the match. Bret Hart comes down to the ring. He tried to enter the match but is stopped by Goldberg and a steal chair. Goldberg hits Hart, Hall and Nash leaving the outsiders out cold. He pulls Lugar over Hall before awaking the referee. The referee sees Lugar arm over Hall and counts the pin. Lugar defeats The Outsiders with a massive help from Goldberg. (73)

Bret Hart is furious on the outside of the ring. Lex Lugar and Goldberg have once again foiled Hart and the New World Order. Bret Harts perfect night has took a turn for the worst. He can be heard screaming “Lugar Cheated! He cheated! He should be disqualified!” The commentary team mention that is Lugar gets the victory at Souled Out the New World Order will have to disband forever.

Hart gets in the ring and attempts to hit Goldberg with the WCW Championship Belt. Hart misses and Goldberg then lays Hart out with the spear. Hart rolls to the outside as Goldberg picks up the championship. He hands the world title over to Lugar and then raises his hand. Thunder ends with Lugar holding up the belt. (77)

WCW Nitro Preview

January Week

This edition of WCW nitro opens by recapping the events of WCW Thunder. We see Goldberg’s return to World Championship Wrestling. Goldberg confronts and getting revenge on Scott Steiner after Steiner took him out the previous week. Then we are shown how Goldberg took out Ed Farrara security, and bullied him to book the main event for WCW Souled Out. Finally we see the events that ended the show, Goldberg laying out Bret Hart with the spear. (77)

-

After the video package Goldberg Music plays. Goldberg makes his way down to the ring holding a clip bored. He takes a ringside microphone ready to address the fans present. “Welcome everyone to WCW Monday Nitro. We are live tonight in the Palestra, live on TNT and this Sunday World Championship Wrestling will be live on PPV. This Sunday my friends step into the ring with the New World Order. If WCW United win the New World Order must disband. I don’t want to waste anyone times. I have the contract from WCW Headquarters. Bret Hart all we need is your signature. So come on down to the ring champ.”

The New World Orders music plays and Bret Hart makes his way out to the entrance ramp. “Goldberg do you really think that at WCW Souled Out that match is going to happen? You bullied Ed Fararra into making that match up. I saw it, the fans at home saw it and most certainty the folks at World Championship Wrestling headquarters saw it. I came out here to tell you that your contract is null and void. You see you can’t force someone into a legally binding contract. However since your friends want to fight us so badly, Lex Lugar and Harlem Heat get their opportunity against Scott Steiner and the Outsiders later this evening.”

Goldberg is standing in the ring not looking impressed. “Bret you are a signed performer of World Championship Wrestling. I have a match that’s been created by Ed Farrara and sanctioned by World Championship Wrestling. Bret if I don’t have your signature of this contract by the end of tonight. If you refuse to take part in a sanctioned match then World Championship Wrestling will have no choice but to strip you of the World Heavyweight Title and suspend you indefinitely.”

Bret is furious at the news. He slams the microphone down on the stage and heads backstage. Goldberg’s music played to end the segment. (79)

-

We head backstage to WCW United. Lex Lugar is hanging out with Harlem Heat. They are asked about tonight’s main event against the New World Order. Lex Lugar answers the question. “This Sunday we battle the New World Order inside Steel Cage warfare. It might be the biggest match in World Championship Wrestling history. It’s a chance to end the New World Order forever. Whoever wins tonight holds to momentum going into Souled Out. We will win tonight and this Sunday we will win the war.” (63)

-end of part 1-

We come back from commercials to a video of the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament. The small video package saw how Eddie Guerrero and Berlyn won their qualifying matches. At the end of the video package the commentary team hype up the first semi-final is coming up next. (43)

Eddie Guerrero VS Berlyn

A competitive match between the two Cruiserweights to open the show. It’s a back and forth match between the two lasting around ten minutes’. Eddie Guerrero eventually puts Berlyn away after hitting the frog splash. Eddie Guerrero advances into the finals but Berlyn comes out of the contest looking good in defeat. (60)

We cut backstage to Ed Ferrara in his office. He is flanked by New World Order member Jeff Jarrett. A video is shown on the monitor of Goldberg bullying Ed Ferrara into making the main event for WCW Souled Out. Ed Ferrara isn’t impressed having to rewatch the video. Jeff Jarrett is shown laughing behind him.

“Goldberg really did a number on you. The expression on your face, you look like you are about to soil your pants.” Comments Jeff Jarrett. The Camera zooms in on Ed Farrara who isn’t looking happy. (53)

-end of part 2-

Big T vs. Kaz Hayashi and La Parka

Kaz Hayashi and La Parka are given the jobber entrance. They are in the ring when the Cameras come back on. Big T then gets the full entrance. It’s another short match for Big T again he is made to look dominate. It only last a few minutes’ before he puts Kaz Hayashi away with the Pearl River Plunge. This match is a step up from the last few times we have seen Big T. (34)

After the match Big T takes the microphone. “No one in World Championship Wrestling is currently as dominate as me. I haven’t lost a match since I arrived in World Championship Wrestling. So Sunday at Souled Out I’ll make an open challenge to anyone in WCW.” Big T then leaves the ring after laying down the challenge. (41)

-

The Cameras catch up with Eddie Guerrero backstage, he is asked about the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament final. “The last few weeks the Revolution have targeted me and Chavo. Despite that I made it to the tournament finals. Now Ray Misterio and Dean Malenko are both top contenders. This Sunday however the Cruiserweight Championship is coming home to the Guerrero family.” (51)

-

The Cameras head backstage to Ed Farrara offices. Jeff Jarrett is talking, “Man I still can’t get over the number Goldberg did on you. I must have watched that video over and over again. The look on your face is priceless.”

Ed Farrara looks enraged by Jeff Jarrett’s comments. “Jarrett, I got a phone call today regarding the United States Championship. You see we don’t have a championship match for Souled Out. I was going to give you the night off. Now since you feel obliged to make fun of how Goldberg bullied me. Am going to make that United State Championship match right now. Since last week you stuck your nose into matters between Shane Douglas and Chris Benoit. Then their match at Souled Out is now a Triple Threat match for the United State title.” (54)

-end of part 3-

Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Dean Malenko

The last semi-final of the Cruiserweight championship tournament between Misterio and Malenko. Like the first match this again is pretty even. The match last for about nine minutes’ before Dean Malenko can get the victory. He scores the pinfall after using a foreign object. (60)

Dean Malenko takes out of the microphones from ringside. “So then they were just two of us. Eddie Guerrero you spoke before about bring that title back how to the Guerrero family. You are the two time World Championship Wrestling Cruiserweight Champion. You last held the belt in December of 1997. It’s just over two years since you were known as the number one cruiserweight in the world. I’m going to make sure that that Championship drought continues.” (50)

-

Bret Hart is shown entering Ed Farrara office. He takes a seat before addressing the WCW commissioner. “Farrara you have to change this match for Souled Out. We have known each other for a long-time. You came to me because you needed someone to enforce your powers as commissioner. We all saw what happened between you and Goldberg. Change the match, change the stipulation. I’ll make sure Goldberg knows your wrath.”

“Bret I would love to but it’s out of my hands. It’s already been made official by World Championship Wrestling management. There is nothing I can do anymore. The stipulations that Goldberg and I agreed on are going to take place. Lex Lugar as already signed on for his team. The only think we need now is your signature. Now as champion you know you represent us. If you reject the match we will have no choice but to take that World Title from you. Am sorry Bret there is nothing I can do.” Reposed Ed Farrara.

Bret Hart slams his fist against the table. He is then shown storming out of the office. (54)

-end of hour 1-

We start the second hour with an angry Bret Hart walking with Scott Steiner. The two men approach The New World Order lock room. Hart stops Steiner from entering the locker room.

“I need some time alone to think about our next move. You stand here and don’t let anyone enter. No interviews, no Jeff Jarrett, No Scott Hall or Kevin Nash and especially no Bill Goldberg. No one is to disturbed me until I am ready to sign that contact.” Hart commands Steiner. He is then shown slamming the door to the New World Order lock room. The Cameraman tries to follow but Scott Steiner stands in the way. (73)

-

We stay backstage the Blue Bloods are in the interview area. Steven Regal takes the microphone ready to address their opponents for WCW Souled Out. “The Varsity Club and the Filthy Animals? In the past few weeks we have beaten both of them. World Championship Wrestling should just award us the bloody tag team champions. The Filthy Animals I’m meant tougher Filthy Animals on a night out in Blackpool. Tonight David Taylor will win his triple threat match and this Sunday we will take the Tag Team titles back home to England.” (47)

David Taylor vs. Mike Rotunda vs. Billy Kidman

The three men are given about 6 minutes of TV to work with. The match starts off with Mike Rotunda and Kidman forming an alliance looking for revenge on the Blue Bloods. The alliance doesn’t last long however as Rotunda tried to get a roll up victory over Kidman. Kidman kicks out at one. The rest of the match is a pretty standard triple threat. Two men battle ion the ring while the other is on the outside. Billy Kidman gets the victory with a Shooting Star Press in the end before pinning Mike Rotunda. (53)

David Taylor rolls out of the ring. He is helped to the back by Steven Regal. Rey Misterio comes out to check on Bill Kidman and Rick Steiner on Mike Rotunda. Steiner helps Rotunda up to his feet and the two opponents from Sunday come face-to-face. The two teams stare each other down before Kidman extends the hand in respect. Rotunda accepts the handshake and the two teams stand as allies tonight. (52)

The Cameras are backstage once again at the New World Order lock room. Scott Steiner is standing in front of the door. Goldberg approaches and the two men come face-to-face. They stare each other down before Goldberg speaks. “You going to move or do I need to put you threw a table again.”

Scott Steiner looks pissed off as he responded. “Bret Hart ordered me not to let anyone in this locker room. Especially you now I have no problem breaking your other arm Goldberg. Hart will appear when he is ready to sign that little contract in your hand. Not before now leave before I make you regret what you did last week.”

Goldberg thinks about breaking into the lock room before leaving. (75)

-end of part 5-

We stay backstage with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Scott hall is speaking to his friend. “We started this ride back in 1996. We came to World Championship Wrestling to take over. For four years the bad man and the big man have changed the face of pro wrestling. Bret Hart comes in as our leader and books us into the corner. We can’t let the New World Order die this Sunday at WCW Soule Out.”

Nash stops hall. “Don’t worry about; If Bret Hart doesn’t come up with something I will to make sure this old dog isn’t put down. Remember when you ride with the New World Order you ride with the New World Order for life.” (63)

-

Jeff Jarrett music hits, the United States champion makes his way down to the ring. The commentary team mention the match booked before for WCW Souled Out. We see Shane Douglas and Chris Benoit face off against Jeff Jarrett in a triple threat match. Jarrett poses in the ring before taking a seat at the announce table. Jarrett is here to scout his opponents for the title match this Sunday. (61)

Shane Douglas vs. Chris Benoit

The two former friends put on a show in the match of the night. They are given about 10 minutes to work with. During the contest Jeff Jarret puts over both men commentary. Eventually Chris Benoit is about to put Douglas away via submission. A good showing for both men in his segment. (70)

-end of part 6-

We cut backstage once again to the New World Order lock room. The door finally opens and Bret Hart emerges. He dismisses Scott Steiner before heading towards the ringside area. He will sign the contact after the match between Lex Lugar and Harlem Heat VS The New World Order. (80)

-

Lex Lugar and Harlem Heat VS The New World Order

In a preview of this Sundays main event Lex Lugar and Harlem Heat put on a good show against the New World Order. The New World Order is represented by Scott Steiner, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. They start of by isolating Stevie Ray. The Outsiders use their tag team experience to cut the ring in half. Hall and Nash exchange quick tags before Stevie Ray managed to get in some offense. He is allowed to tag in Booker T and the match dissolves into chaos. The two teams brawl with each other. Bret Hart on the outside injects himself into the match tried to distract both Booker T and Lugar leading to near falls. The New World Order eventually picks up the victory when Scott Steiner pins Lex Lugar after getting a hand full to tights. (67)

-End of part 7-

Bret Hart enters the ring as the New World Order music plays. The four members of the New World Order celebrate for a few minutes. Goldberg music plays. Goldberg makes his way down to the ring with the contract in hands. Hall, Nash and Steiner exit the ring and surround it leaving Goldberg and Bret Hart to stand face-to-face. Bret Hart takes one of the microphones from ringside.

“Well Goldberg it looks like I have two options. Accept your match for this Sunday or forfeit my World Heavyweight Championship. I don’t know if you are stupid or maybe you really don’t like your friends. You witness tonight why the New World Order is the most dominate faction in World Championship Wrestling. We beat WCW United tonight and you want to put us inside a Steal Cage. This Sunday I and the New World Order will kill WCW United and when you are finally cleared to wrestle. We will kill you as well.”

Scott Steiner sneaks into the ring. He has the World Championship in hand. Goldberg turns around as Steiner lays out Goldberg with the championship. Bret Hart picks up the contact and puts his signature on the line making the match official. Nitro ends with Bret Hart standing over Goldberg with the contract for the WCW Souled Out main event. WCW Souled Out the first PPV event of the year. The New World Order who have terrorised the WCW locker room for the best part of 4 years collided with a united front inside steel cage warfare. Two men start inside the cage then ever two minutes another member enters until all eight men are inside the cage. Only once all eight men are in the cage. The match can then be won by pin fall or submission. The stakes are high for both the New World Order and World Championship Wrestling.

Tonight on WCW Thunder the two teams collided in massive matches. Stevie Ray takes on Scott Hall, Kevin Nash faces off against Booker T and Lex Lugar takes on Scott Steiner. The side with the most victory on the night will get the man advantage in this Sundays Steel Cage match. Who will bring home the victory for their side? Who will have the momentum heading into WCW Souled Out? Stay tuned for the go home edition of WCW Thunder.

Bonus Question:- I recently signed Chris Candido and Tammy Sytch from Extreme Championship Wrestling. The plan is to have Chris Candido form a tag team with Chuck Palumbo with Tammy being their manager. Now I suck at names so what should this new tag team be called? please post your suggestions.
