After eighteen years of working in the wrestling industry you learn to just take things as they come without blinking an eye, but I guess there's always gonna be an exception. Ebony Sinclair, Bobby Valentine II, and Erin Cristoph meet in a room. It sounds like some smarks drunk attempt at a joke. A very bad joke that I'm having issues registering as reality. Thankfully Bobby is more than willing to do the talking. Bobby: "So let me make sure we got this straight kid, because of how badly your last vampire movie did, you not only lost your acting career, but your girlfriend and the promise of a contract with the AWF. All in one week, all because of a movie being terrible?" Erin: "Yep." Bobby: "I kinda want to see that movie now." I certainly registered that as I burst out laughing. Credit to the kid though, he didn't get mad, just rolled his eyes and continued with our meeting. Erin: "Look, I invited you guys for a reason, so here it is. I love wrestling, and I want to get involved one way or another, but with my current situation nobody is wanting to take a chance on me. So I've decided to stop waiting and make my own move and open my own wrestling promotion, with you two as my creative board!" Is it too late for this to be a joke yet? Erin: "Now before you say anything, I'm using my own money, after "Dusk: Blood Bayou" I began saving up more, so I have plenty for us to get started and to get a starting roster. I just need you two to help me get the actual operations of the place rolling, and with your combined experience I'm confident we can make something big!" Ebony: "It's great you've got this idea and all...but why us? Surely there are other candidates to choose from?" Erin: "Well...there were...but you two were the only ones who accepted the offer. Everyone else either ignored me or just didn't trust working with the "Hollywood poster boy", but I mean it when I talk about how serious I am here. If anything, I can guarantee both of you pay for the first few months, so in case it fails and falls, you'll be covered via contract. What do you say guys?" To my surprise, Bobby immediately nodded, a content look on his face. Bobby: "Alright kid, I'm willing to give this crazy plan a shot. Ain't like I got anything to lose at this point, besides, I've been itching to get back to work again." To be honest...he had a point. I wasn't getting many bookings ever since my return, so a chance to be able to be constantly around what I loved...I couldn't resist. Ebony: "I'm in as well, seems like this could be worth the ride." With that we exchanged smiles and handshakes, I could tell trust wasn't completely there between us, but we had time for that. I hope. ***** OOC: With my winter break finally here, this is the start of my second diary, featuring a mod I've enjoyed a lot lately, the Thunderverse! This diary is meant to be more lighthearted than Technical Transformations has been, taking inspirations from diaries of writers like Voeltzwagon, and Uncrewed. There's plenty more to come for the intros, but since I'm currently making this at 3 AM and am wanting sleep, it's gonna be a few hours before everything is set for the first show preview. First champions are always a big deal, and for us to start on being a big deal ourselves we needed to choose wisely. Unfortunately it seemed Erin had a favorite already... Erin: I'm telling you Ebony, Dwaine Kai should win the Prime Championship on our first show, I mean look at the guy, he's got everything to be our lead star! Ebony: And I'm telling you that now isn't the right moment for him to be our champ! If we want to really make a good impact on our first show we need to impress! We need to do something interesting! Something that will make people want to come back next month! Just having Dwaine win will not make them want to return! Erin: And I'm telling you that it will! A loud bang on the table broke us from our staredown, both of us turning slowly to our third partner, Bobby V. I couldn't blame Bobby if he was angry with us, we had been here for three hours, two more than originally scheduled, and he'd been silent the entire time. But if he had any anger, he didn't show it, merely a small amused smile. Bobby V: Now that I have your attention, hear me out. We have a good list of guys who could all be our first Prime Champion, however we also have another championship to take advantage of for our first show. If we really want to see what the fans want, I suggest that we give them a taste of our potential choices with promos and see how they react to them. At the same time, we give a good chunk of the night's action to our X-Division and really show how serious we are about those boys and the variety they bring to our product. I nodded slowly, it didn't seem like we would reach a compromise on our first Prime Champion with just us three, but fan opinion would definitely help out in our final decisions. However, that left us with one other problem... Bobby V: So we do we want as our first X-Division Champion then? Out of the corner of my eye I saw Erin's toothy grin shine as he prepared to give us a speech all about his choice. With a groan I just put my head on the table, scowling as I heard the badly hidden chuckles from Bobby V as he pretended to cough. However the full benefits of experience are given to Schism as he manages to hit not just one, but two Great Divide Deathdrops on each opponent, pinning J.T. Rush for the victory. Schism, TIGER and Corvis, all are men who not many people know much about, and the only thing that we do know, is that they can put on one hell of a showing. GP: It's hard to choose a winner for the final Triangle Terror match Bobby, all three men could be amazing X-Division Champions, but that's the kind of quality in wrestlers that just makes EVOLVE so damn good. TIGER had it hardest however, as he had to contend with the specializations of both opponents, from the technical talent of Corvis keeping him grounded, to the aerial counterattacks by Schism whenever he got a chance to head to the air. With quick wits TIGER finally got his opening, dodging a Torn Apart senton from Schism, bringing a fight on his own to Corvis Jones before locking the "Lone Gunman" into the TIGER Triangle! With nowhere to go Corvis cuts his losses and taps out, making Super TIGER the first X-Division Champion! Especially our very first champion in both the X-Division, and EVOLVE history! I wasn't expecting big changes because of it, we were a small company in New England after all, but the fact we were a new player to the game definitely had to have caused some stirrings. All I was hoping for however was that we made good profit, some of our boys did not work that cheap. Thankfully I had little to worry about on that end, as I found out from an excited Erin at our meeting the first Wednesday of September. Erin: I can't believe how great we did this month! We made positive growth in profits and popularity! Bobby: Calm down kid, it's a good start, but remember this is just our first month. We've got a long road ahead of us and there's plenty that could go wrong. For now let's just take a look at the last show, it went great, but there's definitely room for improvement. Bobby wasn't wrong, Richie's promo as well as our main event were kinda disappointing, but in Richie's case that wasn't a surprise, the kid was like his old man to a T. Our main event however, that was more Erin wanting to show off his pet project in Dwaine, and while it wasn't a bad idea, it was still too soon to try making this guy THE face of our company. Ebony: Next month we really need to stun the crowd with a better main event, especially since we're going to have our main championship on the line. Another thing we need is ways to help out our guys with promos, I'm thinking managers or valets personally. Erin: I'm way ahead of you one that! But from what I've found she's perfect as a good girl valet for some of our babyfaces. I had to admit, Erin did a good job with this girl, we might have to change her name, but since she mainly worked down south I'm sure nobody in our area would notice if she went from Erin Scott to something else. However my impressed feeling quickly changed to shock as I saw who his next signing was. Ebony: Erin...is that...who I think it is?! How the hell did you get her to sign for us? And more importantly, for how much?! Bobby: Who?! She's no Terry Thunder but she's got firm connections in Hollywood and the AWF, hell her best friend is their very first women's champion! Bobby gave a slow whistle at that, now understanding the level of signing behind Serenity. The girl was a great talent entertainment wise, so using her as a valet would give any of our boys a great boost in promos. Erin: A few years back I did her a favor and got her a part in one of my "Dusk" movies when she was trying to be an actor, so not only does she owe me, she also doesn't hate my face like the rest of Hollywood. Put both together and you got a great quality valet who is willing to work at a discount. However said discount is only going to last six months, so if we plan on using her to help someone out, we need to do it soon. Bobby: I say put her with Richie, with the right backstory and planning, she could really be a good focal point for storylines. Same with Erin once we figure out what to do with her or anybody else we sign up. Ebony: Anybody else? Don't you think we're doing a bit much? It is our second month after all. Bobby: We're doing good financially, and since we have Serenity at a lower rate, we could probably sign one more valet/manager, preferably one for one of our heels. Erin: Add an interview girl to that as well, because of how well we did, the theatre is willing to let us install some custom screens from now on. So we can do backstage interviews which are sure to help our guys out as well with practicing promos. Ebony: So one more heel manager/valet, and an interviewer for promos. Are we good then with signings? Thankfully I got agreements, while I trusted Erin with our profits, but I didn't want us to go too far over our heads. We weren't anywhere close to the budget that someplace like the AWF had, and we were pushing it enough last month. Bobby V: Gotta say, at least you're creative when you run that mouth of yours, but enough about black holes, I wanna talk about the main event for our first ever EVOLVE Prime Champion! GP: We'll you're gonna have to wait just a sec, because I'm getting word that our boss wants to talk to this crowd first. Two months in a row of the Boss and the good wrestling? Last time I gave you the king of our skies in Super TIGER, tonight is about finding the leader of the evolution of pro wrestling! Santana: In all honesty, it's making me more pumped. From there the fun and games are over as Donny shows a new focus this time around, wearing down Dwaine little by little thanks to his speed. However quick thinking by the Giant leads to him bellowing at the "Demon of Disco" from the apron, distracting Chic and the referee long enough for a vicious low blow by Kai. With the ball back in his court Dwaine takes Donny to task, mocking him in between moves with occasional bad dancing. This proves to be part of a game plan however as Hollywood stalks to the side of the ring facing the ramp, fist at the ready as Dwaine whips Donny toward him, dancing obnoxiously in front of the referee to distract him. But just as the big man's fist rears back, his jaw takes a kick from Lenny, a sharp smack sounding throughout the Theatre! Thinking the sound was Donny Chic meeting a ham-sized fist, Dwaine turns, only to take a wicked clothesline from Donny filled with momentum! Positioning himself right, Donny dances patiently as he waits for Kai to slowly rise up, a big stomp being the only signal to the crowd of what is coming. 1! 2! 3! 4! And with the count of five he hit the final stomp and ran, his knee connecting with Kai's face and making him Listen to the Music! A pin for Donny Chic! Richie with the technical skills taught and no doubt inherited from his father, Kris with some serious speed, as more often than he would use dives and other aerial maneuvers to keep both his opponents down. Brandt kept to his brawling favorites, but to his credit he hung well with Richie in various chains, his ground based offense proving useful against Phoenix as well, keeping the man down most of the match. Seven seemed unstoppable as he kept his pace set, a kick there, a punch there, a slam, a clothesline, bit by bit he wore both men down, but even he couldn't stop them as they gave him a suplex together, crashing the "Philly Fiend" and his momentum. After a sudden start at their realization of working together, they continued the match, Richie gaining control as he adapted Brandt's previous strategy of keeping him down. After a good routine of holds to wear down Phoenix, Richie prepared to end the match, climbing the turnbuckle for the Flying Crossbody his father made famous. But as soon as he pointed down at Kris, the lights went out. And when they came back on Richie Santana Jr had his throat in the grip of a man standing on the apron, but as quick as the sight came, it ended as Richie received a vicious chokeslam onto the ringside mat. http://i.imgur.com/9esDqvh.jpg In the ring a recovered Seven just stared, wondering what the hell just happened and why. With a sudden start he remembered the presence of Phoenix and began to look at his remaining opponent, only to turn right into a From The Ashes, his head slamming into the mat! With Seven down at his feet, and a broken Richie Santana Jr on the ringside floor, his assailant silently gazing, Kris covers Seven for the pin, a crazed but satisfied look in his eyes as he the referee counts to three, granting the win and Prime Championship to Kris Phoenix. But today I wasn't here for appreciating our new meeting place, today I was here for business, or as it was put by Donny Chic over the phone, "a meeting of importance." I was just surprised he brought Super TIGER with him, if anything, that's when began to get worried. Chic: I'm sorry for being so vague over the phone Mrs. Ebony, but this is something better explained in person, especially from both of us. Ebony: Just Ebony is fine Donny, I'm just curious as to what the news is, especially since I know you signed a non-exclusive contract with DRAGON the week of Downfall. Chic: Well actually, that's part of what my news is. You see, I didn't just get to re-sign myself to a contract, but I also got DRAGON Michinoku himself to sign on to the formation of a working deal with EVOLVE! I whistled at that, DRAGON Michinoku was the owner of DRAGON Pro Wreslting, the country's third biggest player in the wrestling industry, and our top worry since day one of planning. Having a working deal would definitely ease on fears of an X-Division raid by the high flying company. Ebony: That's amazing Donny! But why tell me and not Erin? He's the owner. Hell, why not come telll us himself? The two men in front of me exchanged looks before Donny shrugged, giving the floor to TIGER. TIGER: Well, DRAGON doesn't really know you or Mr. Cristoph that well, so he let us make the decision on who to call since he figured you'd be more likely to trust us than him. This is especially his concern in regards to the rest of our news to tell you. Ebony: I'm going to take a guess and say this is the bad news, since a working deal with DRAGON is pretty good news. TIGER: Considering Michinoku himself called this a warning, you've guessed right. According to some dirtsheet guys he's got working for him, there's been a lot of buzz among the other promotions concerning EVOLVE. They see the popularity rise as a huge threat, and they're not exactly kind about their opinions on it. Ebony: So when you say promotions...exactly how many are feeling hostile towards us? TIGER: Five. SUX, Golden Age, Tennessee, The Club, and even Legacy all the way in Puerto Rico. They feel you'll take their workers, or their take their positions on the totem pole, which admittedly EVOLVE has started to do. He was right, the monthly reports came out a few days ago, and we had jumped from #5 to #1 in the Tri-State. I had expected maybe Golden Age to have a problem with us, maybe even DRAGON itself since we were right next to their stomping grounds, but Tennessee and The Club? Those promotions had television shows to their names! Ebony: Why is DRAGON wanting to help us? If our growth is such a big concern for five other companies to dislike us, why isn't he leading them? TIGER: Apparently the boss likes your Division attempts, he said it reminded him of United Japan Promotions before they started to focus hard on their heavyweight talent. Personally, I think he wants to see you succeed so he has more to rub into UJP's face. Imagine, an American company led by an actor doing what the "Pride of Japan" couldn't? Boss would be celebrating for weeks. While it wasn't selfless like I had hoped, it was better to have DRAGON Pro-Wrestling by our side than looming over us as a potential executioner. Ebony: Well I can only hope we give him that celebration then. Thanks for the info you two, it's definitely worrying, but at least we know who to look out for. As if making it their mission to show off they go through multiple styles, brawling, pure mat wrestling, and of course their specialties, aerial combat. However with so much on the line things can't stay civil for long, as their fight spreads in and out of the ring, their moves and strikes getting more vicious every passing minute.</p><p> </p><p> It all comes to a head after a second From The Ashes fails to keep TIGER down for the pin, leading to a (more) crazed Kris Phoenix screaming at Referee Jacob Loeb. In his anger TIGER rolls him up, the pin tight as Loeb counts with a smile.</p><p> </p><p> 1!</p><p> </p><p> 2!</p><p> </p><p> Phoenix kicks out! He kicks out with a deranged shout, only to leap at TIGER, causing them both to fall out of the ring! Yet the twisted man from the flames shows no signs of stopping as he drags TIGER to the announce table, placing his opponent on it as Bobby and Gold Plated abandon their station. With a mad cackle Kris goes under the ring, and pulls out a ladder from its depths before setting it up, looming over the prone form of TIGER.</p><p> </p><p> With a yell at Referee Loeb, whose trying to tell Kris to put the ladder away, Phoenix begins to climb slowly, but TIGER is stirring, registering his situation as his eyes open, quick as he can, he begins climbing the best he can to match Phoenix's pace! Intense determination is matched with even levels as the two staredown at the very top, but it's soon replaced with a brawl in the air! Even with Loeb counting they don't care, as both men trade blows at the top of the ladder, determined to knock the other off! But it's Phoenix who breaks the stalemate as he grabs TIGER and leaps from the ladder, a From The Ashes from the top and onto the announce table with a crash, breaking it and possibly their bodies! I kept playing different promotions in the US, and found myself usually signing the same guys because they worked so well, so it's reassuring my choices are interesting to someone other than me.</p><p> </p><p> As for the product, I've definitely changed a lot of it, currently it looks like:</p><p> </p><p> Heavy</p><p> Medium</p><p> Very Low</p><p> Medium</p><p> Low</p><p> Medium</p><p> Low</p><p> None</p><p> Low</p><p> None</p><p> None</p><p> Medium</p><p> </p><p> I tried to model it after an early TNA as well as make the product something I could work well with, as Storylines are not that easy to run with some guys being leagues ahead either in performance or popularity. As always any feedback is appreciated, especially with some font changes I've made to this entry.
