Additional Fan Comments:

OOC: Firstly, a big thanks to anyone who takes the time to read and respond.

Secondly, I have a shoddy track record with diaries at best. It's the one thing I'd always wanted to do since getting into TEW13 and the one thing that I've struggled to keep up with. I figure I'd give it one more go before '16 drops. My wife and I just welcomed our first child a little over a month ago, so I'm not sure how much time I'll really have to devote to this, but wanted to give it a go. I plan on keep write-ups relatively short and simple and hopefully that allow me to keep the momentum, but we'll see.

As always, predictions, feedback and suggestions are encouraged, welcomed and appreciated!

Announcers Marvin Earnest and Ernie Turner welcome everyone of the show and discuss the big double main event: Matthew Keith vs Fox Mask for the WWA World Title and Joanne Rodriguez vs. Sara Marie Young for the WWA Women’s Title before sending it to tonight's opening match.

Our opening match features the high-flying cruiserweight action between Jacob Jett and Jeremiah Moose. The two were sent out to get the crowd on their feet, but some awkward chemistry may have cost the performance. Despite not being known very well in the region, Jett was clearly the star here and defeated Moose by pinfall rather easily at around 8 minutes.

Rating: 46

The fans were treated to first of three women’s bouts next as the tough and cocky Brit Steph Blake challenged the colorful and fun-loving Candy Floss. The two showed a real chemistry out there and definitely outperformed expectations. Floss started off hot with the crowd on her side, but in the end it was Blake’s night to shine defeating Floss by pinfall after 7 minutes.

Rating: 52

Tag team action was on-deck next as the fan friendly Dynamite Express matched up with the tough and austere tandem of Ray Snow and Sterling Whitlock. Some seesaw action took the bout back and forth, but the Dynamite Express won out with Collider pinned Whitlock just after the 7 minute mark.

Rating: 41

The advertised special Lucha Libre attraction between El Mitico Jr. and Silver Tiger was on tap next. Both these men demonstrated some great fundamental skills and certainly knew how to work a match. Mitico, a third generation star, played the tecnico while the more flashy Silver Tiger made for a great rudo. The two clicked and delivered the best match on the card up until that point. The ten minute time limit draw is a definitive indication that fans aren’t done seeing these two tie-up.

Rating: 56

The second women’s bout of the evening was a triple threat match between the fiery (read: bitchy) Foxxy LaRue, the alt-rocker Eve Grunge and masked luchadora Estrella Blanca. All three women took moments to shine for the crowd as all three sought to establish themselves as future contenders for the WWA Women’s Championship. In the end it was LaRue pinning Blanca at about 11 minutes for the decision.

Rating: 48

Danny P. Funk (otherwise known as Grandmaster Funk) and his tag team partner Fro Sure came out signifying the tag team title bout was next. The two came out with microphones in hand and exchanged some playful banter getting the crowd on their feet and establishing themselves as the team to root for.

4 Corners Tag Team Match for the WWA World Tag Team Championship

The Funky Express vs. The Ring Generals w/Boss Man Brayfield vs. Allied Forces vs. CV2 w/ Lisa Bowen

After, The Ring Generals (led by manager Boss Man Brayfield), Allied Forces (American Elemental and UK Dragon), and CV2 (Vessey and Valentine with Lisa Bowen) all made their entrances. Referee Matthew White established the match rules:

2 wrestlers would start and any competitor could tag in any other competitor at any time

When a wrestler was pinned, submitted, disqualified or counted out, their team was eliminated from the bout.

Boss Man Brayfield found himself disappointed when Statler ate a pinfall from American Elemental forcing the Ring Generals out of the running first. CV2 ambushed Am El next, exploiting the first fall with a double team that eventually cost Allied Forces their chance at the gold. That brought us to the final two (and heavily favored) teams or The Funky Express and CV2.

Valentine and Fro Sure squared up with Mr. Fro-licious taking the early advantage with some crowd-pleasing offense. Fro tagged in Danny P. Funk who continued dishing out punishment to cocky Valentine. It seemed all was going according to plan for Planet Funky when a well-timed referee distraction to CV2’s “executive consultant” Lisa Bowen allowed Cam Vessey to use an illegal sneak attack on Danny P. Funk and Valentine stole a pinfall! Just like that, after a near 20 minute saga, CV2 stole the tag team titles much to the chagrin of Funky Express and the fans in attendance.

Rating: 51

Coming off the lengthy and intense battle for the tag team championship, the crowd was giving a chance to breath with a short and very one-sided affair here as Bulldozer Brandon Smith made mincemeat of Josh Jones. Smith had no issues putting Jones away in about 4 minutes after a dominant display of power that had the crowd eating out of his hands.

Rating: 37

Following the bout, Smith celebrated in the ring encouraging adoration from the crowd who were only too happy to cheer for the rugged brawler.

After a brief intermission break, the commentary team set the table for the first of the two featured main events: Sara Marie Young vs. Joanne Rodriguez for the right to be the inaugural WWA Women’s Champion. After discussing the match some keys to the match, Earnest and Turner toss the broadcast to a pre-recorded interviews with both Young and Rodriguez.

Young acknowledged that she’s the underdog and admitted to having great admiration and respect for J-Ro.

For Rodriguez’s part, she grudgingly admitted that Young is a talented competitor, but made no bones about her accomplishments on multiple continents. She’s looking to further establish her reputation as the most dominant female wrestler on the planet.

With all the words spoken, the Perry Hall faithful are finally treated to this heavily anticipated bout. Both women waste no time or motion as they quickly tie up and exchange a variety of holds with no clear advantage. After Young sent J-Ro to the floor with a high-angle arm drag, something snapped within Rodriguez as the heavy favorite came at Young with unbridled intensity.

For the next several minutes J-Ro delivered a varied arsenal of athletic kicks, stiff forearms shots, and devastating suplexes. With each new attack, Rodriguez temper rose in frustration as Young’s heart, determination and will to survive allowed her to kick out of each pinning predicament.

J-Ro set Young up on the top looking to deliver a super-hurricanrana only to be countered by Young into a devastating powerbomb from the top bringing the fans to their feet! It was J-Ro’s determination on display this time kicking out at the 2 mark. The two exchanged a variety of high-powered nearfalls for the next several minutes that showed these ladies were leaving it all out in the ring tonight.

Neither competitor was able to gain a clear advantage until J-Ro practically took Young’s head off with a vicious lariat. Clearly feeling that the bout was going on too long, Rodriguez called for the end and looked to apply a new submission she’d been using AAA--a custom variation of the Enygma Variation. Just as she was about to lock it in, Young twisted her body hooking her legs under Rodriguez shoulders and rolling for a shocking three count!

The crowd erupted at the sudden flash pinfall and the blue collar underdog, Sara Marie Young, had her hands raised in victory surprising even herself. Referee Matthew White presented Young with the championship as tears rolled down her cheeks and Perry Hall continued to cheer the 16 minute classic.

Rating: 60

Post match, Rodriguez faced Young and the two started for a moment as the fans in attendance buzzed. Young offered her hand to her opponent and Rodriguez took a moment before shaking it and ultimately pulling the new champion in for a hug. The fans continued to cheer the gesture of sportsmanship. Both women held their hands raised for the crowd for a few moments…

...until Rodriguez whipped Young around and delivered a stiff short-arm clothesline to the champion. J-Ro straddled the downed Young as she barked some trash talk into her face before slapping her and walking off into a chorus of boos...

The broadcast returns to Earnest and Turner who spend a few moments expressing their disappointment in Joanne Rodriguez before turning their attention to tonight’s main event: second generation wrestler and burgeoning wrestling superstar Matthew Keith facing off with the high flying and dynamic indy darling, Fox Mask. Just as with the semi-main prior, both competitors said a few words about their upcoming match up with some prerecorded comments.

Keith used his time to explain that every time he steps in the ring he feels the pressure to live up the Keith family name. He says that many wrestlers assume that being Sam Keith’s son means that he receives preferential treatment but in reality it’s quite the opposite. Being Sam Keith’s son means that everytime he steps in the ring his opponents always bring their ‘A game’ and expect to use his name as notch in their resume. While he respects the many accomplishments of Fox Mask, he better not expect a doormat out there...he’s out to not only live up to his father’s name, but outperform it.

Fox Mask’ message was significantly shorter...simply implying that he leaves everything he has out in the ring and that his fans can expect to see him pull out all the stops to secure to go down as the first WWA World Champion.

With all the talking behind them and the ring introductions complete, our main event began with the two men exchanging a handshake, a stark contrast to the ending of the women’s title match. With the sign of respect exchanged, the two started slowly feeling each other out with an exchange of technical holds. Fox Mask was certainly no slouch when it came to chain wrestling but wasn’t quite up to the caliber as Keith who was able to outwrestle his masked opponent.

Being the more savvy veteran, what Fox lacked in technical ability he was able to make up for with ring positioning and speed, getting a rope break when it was required. Eventually Fox was able to take the advantage by catching Keith off guard with an impressive springboard moonsault for a close 2 count. It was here that it became clear that the two opponents, despite being widely respected workers throughout the country, were having communication issues and were doing their best to battle through some awkward chemistry.

The match carried on for about 20 minutes with both men pretty evenly matched. The crowd was split 50/50 on who they were rooting for as neither men had established a clear face or heel. That all changed as we closed in upon the finish. After a spectacular tornado DDT, Fox was in the driver’s seat and Keith knew he was in trouble. As Fox climbed to the top, Keith “inadvertently” pulled referee White by his waistband directly into the soaring form of Fox Mask sending both men crashing to the mat as Perry Hall reigned down a chorus of boos.

With the referee temporarily down, Keith proceeded to untie the turnbuckle cover exposing steel clamp that tightened the ring ropes. As Keith look to ram his opponent skull fist into the unforgiving steel, Fox reversed it and it was Keith who tasted the metal! Mask dove for the cover but White was still unresponsive.

As Fox bent over referee White, gently tapping his face trying to revive him, Keith crawled over and delivered a low blow! Fox Mask crashed to his knees and Matthew Keith collapsed on Fox Mask for the cover! Referee White groggily slapped the mat….1….2….3!

Just like that it was over and Matthew Keith was inaugural WWA World Champion!

Rating: 66

As Keith was presented with the title, he selfishly grabbed it from the ring announcer’s hands and posed over the fallen Fox Mask. Next, the second-generation star grabbed the house microphone and demanded Fox Mask get out of his ring before boldly proclaiming that it is was his destiny to win this title and he is the greatest wrestler in the world today!
