WCW: Dangerous Territory

<p>No way on the invasion. It’s a bit of a played out angle (even if it is 92) </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>For Warrior</strong>, I don’t think pairing him with sting is a good idea - he’lll literally fill lex’s shoes. We just saw savage go through</p><p>

the foundation - so no go on that. You sold me on <strong>tweener Warrior taking all challenges</strong>. Make him win over the fans, and if he’s too much of a hassle backstage, let him go and say he could not handle dub cee dubya.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hit man</strong> is more cookie cutter for me, pairing him with the stinger and letting him win over those kiddies while teasing a feud/alliance with Owen is much more interesting.</p><p> </p><p>

Although unoriginal, <strong>heartbreak</strong> goes to the diamond mine. Time to set up the four guys who could be the foundation for a mid 90s wow - if Vince doesn’t get at em.</p><p> </p><p>

Rude</p><p>

Dustin</p><p>

Diamond mine(pinning lex on his way out)</p><p>

This makes the most sense to me from an in-booking perspective, though it might not be the most shocking or attention grabbing beyond the basic. </p><p> </p><p>

Warrior working with Sting gives him a chance to hide his issues, plus the two could work some feuds with the York Foundation or Diamond Mine to keep them busy. </p><p> </p><p>

A World Tag Team Title run against Freebirds or Steiners would also be quite good. Bret Hart working with Sting was interesting, but given that I've already posited Warrior + Sting then Hart could do better as a solo guy. </p><p> </p><p>

Maybe push him up the card slowly and quietly while Owens gets the spotlight as a DA guy. And yeah, Shawn with the Diamond Mine just makes perfect sense. Him, Nash and Hall working trios matches and maybe even dominating the World Six Man Tag Team titles for a while makes sense to me. </p><p> </p><p>

I think ultimately this exchange is very favorable to WCW, even taking into account personality conflicts. Warrior versus Rude is an easy one-off match that could introduce Warrior versus the Dangerous Alliance if that's how you want to proceed, and I think it would be interesting to see if Warriors beats Bret and Shawn to the title scene. </p><p> </p><p>

Given that we have: Bret Hart - Dustin Rhodes - Mankind - Owen Hart - Randy Savage - Ric Flair - Rick Rude - Scott Steiner - Shawn Michaels - Steve Austin - Sting - Ultimate Warrior as all being potential world champions, I'm actually unsure if guys like Hall, Nash and Page would ever even sniff the main event scene in WCW? Given their sizes, perhaps it might be far more likely that they get picked up by the WWF sometime down the line? That leaves Michaels alone again sure, but in-game events might generate some new friendships for him or something...</p><p> </p><p>

Edit:</p><p> </p><p>

Also, I'm not sure why Crockett is getting the anti-Warrior push here. IRL he was said to be a major supporter of guys like Sid Vicious over guys like Arn Anderson in terms of pushes according to Jim Cornette.</p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">How did WCW ever get by without Jesse Ventura in charge? The Commissioner enjoyed the SuperBrawl II main event so much that he booked a rematch between Rick Rude and Nikita Koloff for the World title, just three days later – and this time it would be in a steel cage! Nikita Koloff was feeling bullish about his chances before the match, and warned Rude that with no-one to help him inside the cage, the result would be very different this time around!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Inside the cage, the two men tore into one another with furious abandon, driving one another into the mat and steel cage walls again and again. Rude’s back was sliced open by the cage after just a few minutes, leaving the new champion struggling, but he managed to hurl Koloff headfirst into the cage in turn, splitting him open.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ross: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">This is a bloodbath!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Dangerously: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">And with no way out until one man stays down – and Rude doesn’t stay down!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ross: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Neither does Koloff, unless someone hits him with a chair!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Outside the ring, Madusa looked torn as she stared through the cage at her battered and bleeding client. She turfed the timekeeper from his chair and seemed to be trying to work out how to get it into the cage, but the door was locked and there were no gaps in the cage to fit the chair through.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Rude was instead left to fight by himself, but the World champion is no slouch – even if he’d surely rather have had the Dangerous Alliance’s resources on hand. Felling Koloff with a low blow, he hurled him once more into the steel cage, widening the gash in his scalp. At first Koloff seemed able to shrug off the injury, but as the match wore on Koloff visibly weakened, so much so that a Sickle attempt was shrugged off by Rude, the impact barely enough even to make him flinch. Rude retaliated with a clothesline of his own, this one enough to stagger Koloff, although the Post-Soviet Superstar stayed – barely – on his feet.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Staying on the offensive, Rude came close to scoring a Rude Awakening, but Koloff powered out of it, slamming Rude into the turnbuckles and trying to set up a Jackhammer, but in his weakened state he couldn’t finish the move. Rude slipped free of the hold and delivered a quick and decisive Rude Awakening to put Koloff down for the second time in a week, and retain his WCW World title!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Is all well in the Dangerous Alliance? Never mind, for now, all the gold the Alliance holds – on Saturday night it was Owen Hart’s chance to Beat The Champ, but Steve Austin’s interference cost him his TV title chance against El Tigre Blanco. Hart wanted answers afterwards, and Austin admitted that he was sick of being the one Alliance member without a title, and wanted Blanco in the ring rather than facing his stablemate. When the pair joined the rest of the group later on, they seemed to have smoothed things over but... Well, you have to wonder!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

What now for Ric Flair? After endorsing Sting at SuperBrawl II, might the Nature Boy be winding down his legendary career? Jesse Ventura wanted answers – but even the Body couldn’t quite get Flair to say one way or another. Flair is going to take a little time to work out what his own future holds, and in the meantime we can expect to see him exploring different avenues then he might have in the past.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Were the Diamond Mine cowed by their defeat at SuperBrawl? It doesn’t seem so – in fact, Diamond Dallas Page seemed especially confident going into his side’s match with the titanic trio of Sting, Lex Luger and Randy Savage. For all his bravado, though, it was Page who fell victim to the Scorpion Deathlock as his side fell to defeat in the six man match.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Marcus Bagwell has impressed in his brief time in WCW, including briefly landing a TV title. Facing Arn Anderson in a non-title match, Bagwell continued to show his potential, but Anderson’s experience shone through as he rolled up Bagwell for the pin – albeit with Madusa holding his hand for added leverage!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Calgary Connection want a World tag title shot, and the Steiners want competition. Could this be a marriage made in heaven? A singles match between Scott Steiner and Brian Pillman offered tantalising evidence of greatness in the future – before Madusa slid Paul E’s cellphone to Pillman, allowing Flyin’ Brian to waffle Scott in the face with it for the pin!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Scotty Flamingo’s partner Johnny B. Badd is benched for a few weeks, giving the neon-clad Flamingo a chance to compete in singles competition. He faced Ron Simmons, hot off his extraordinary falls count anywhere clash with Cactus Jack at SuperBrawl. Simmons seems to have lost none of his competitive edge following that match, and punished Flamingo with a Spinebuster for the win. Afterwards, Trisa Hayes tried to get Simmons’ thoughts on Cactus, only for the pair to be surprised by the appearance of the man himself, shambling past as he muttered aloud on the way to his match with Dustin Rhodes. The battle between the Natural and Cactus was an uncontrolled brawl, the young Rhodes perhaps surprising many by keeping up with the unhinged Cactus as the battle spilled out of the ring, with the referee throwing the match out. Almost as soon as the bell rang, however, Cactus crumpled to the ground, and needed medical attention to leave the arena. Clearly, Cactus wasn’t fit to fight – which raises the question of what he was even doing there?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

One on one, so Brian Pillman and Owen Hart don’t need to worry about their titles. They beat me and Dustin dead centre in the middle of the ring at SuperBrawl, and I won’t deny that, but one on one I think I can match either of them. If Arn Anderson wants to bring the famous Anderson way against me, no problem, I’m not asking for a title shot. Same for Rick Rude, I took him to the limit a couple of weeks ago, and if it hadn’t been for Madusa, maybe I’d have already beaten him – so let’s go again, Rick, if you’re willing... and don’t worry, I’m not after your gold, not yet!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Ricky Steamboat got the night off to a hot start with victory over young William Regal in the first match of the night, Afterwards, he had big words for the Dangerous Alliance!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Owen Hart and Brian Pillman may have heard Ricky Steamboat’s challenge, but they were more concerned in discussing their own challenge to the Steiner Brothers. The Connection warned the Michigan siblings that they were coming for them – and soon!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Sting was caught backstage by Trisa Hayes, who asked him about his plans for the coming months. Sting made plain that he only had one thought in his mind – chasing Rick Rude for the WCW World title! Commissioner Ventura, are you listening?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Rick Rude seemed like he was – he showed off how good the WCW title looked around his waist, and said that it would be there for a long, long time. All together: “What I’d like to have right now...” Marcus Bagwell, a former TV champion in his own right, stepped into the ring in a non-title match against the World champion. The youngster put up a great fight against Rude, who seemed a little surprised by Bagwell’s spirit, but in the end the champ put him away with a jarring Rude Awakening!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The tag team division in WCW is one of its great strengths. There’s nowhere else on the planet where you’ll see teams of the calibre of the Steiners, the Diamond Mine, the Calgary Connection, the Thrillseekers and the Lightning Express all vying for gold, to name just a few of the teams in title contention! This Sunday night saw the Thrillseekers challenging the former US tag champions the Lightning Express. The veteran Express were pushed to their limits by their young opponents, but picked up the win when Brad Armstrong drilled Chris Jericho with a set of brass knuckles.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Michael Hayes is furious over losing ‘his’ TV title to young El Tigre Blanco, and warned the masked man that he’d be back in contention soon, “so enjoy the gold until I get my chance to moonwalk on your face again, kid!” Blanco certainly seems to be enjoying the gold, as he edged past Mr Hughes with a Frog Splash to retain the gold in his second defence.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dustin Rhodes has had a tough time of late, losing two titles in short order after gaining them, and missing out on a third at SuperBrawl. The Diamond Studd, on the other hand, has been walking tall of late – even after missing out on the World tag titles – and gained another morale boost here after claiming victory over the Natural with a handful of trunks. Afterwards, Diamond Dallas Page took to the microphone and claimed that the Diamond Mine was about to become even bigger, even more successful, even more good looking – if that was even possible! Who does the effervescent Page have lined up to join their ranks? Stay tuned to WCW programming to find out!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The WCW Six Man titles were on the line Sunday night as the York Foundation defended against the unusual combination of the Long Riders and Jerry “The King” Lawler. Despite their differing backgrounds, Lawler and the cowboys made for a great team and could have walked out with the gold, but after a distraction from Alexandra York Robert Gibson drilled Kip Winchester down low, and forced a submission from the Long Rider with the Gibson Leglock.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Ricky Steamboat laid out an open challenge to any member of the Dangerous Alliance last Sunday night, and ahead of the night’s main event he waited in the centre of the ring for a response. Dangerously stood up at the announcers’ table and, as the Alliance emerged from backstage as a group ran down Steamboat for his presumptuousness... before admitting that a match against the Dragon would be big money. It had been a tough decision as to who got to fight Steamboat, and they could have chosen for Arn Anderson... or Steve Austin... or Rick Rude... or Owen Hart... but to match Steamboat on the mat and in the air, the Alliance had decided to send Brian Pillman to answer the challenge! Madusa accompanied Pillman to the ring, but the remaining members of the Alliance waited at the top of the aisle, watching the match unfold.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Pillman and Steamboat had been on opposite sides of the ring at SuperBrawl II in a tag match, but this was the first time they’d tied up one-on-one. What followed was a clinic of aerial and technical wizardry as the pair strived to outdo one another, with both men heading to the top rope to try and finish the other several times over.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Heyman: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">You see, Ross? Pillman is giving up a decade’s experience to Steamboat, and he’s already that good!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ross: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Steamboat’s giving up a decade to Pillman, Paul, and he’s still that fast!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Steamboat’s decade of experience was perhaps the crucial factor at the end of the match, as Pillman went to the well once too often, trying for Air Pillman from the top rope but finding nothing but unforgiving ring mat. Steamboat went up top in turn, and in spite of Dangerously’s pleading howls Pillman was only able to stand and turn in time for Steamboat to catch him with a Flying Crossbody to score the pin. As Steamboat had his arm raised, the remaining members of the Alliance headed down the aisle towards the ring...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Either he’s smart or tough enough to get himself out, or he’s not and learns a lesson... But tonight, I can’t let you do that. You see, we have a little event coming up called Clash of the Champions XX, and I’m not ready to put the main event at risk. At the Clash it’s going to be Ricky Steamboat against Rick Rude for the WCW World Title!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

He gazed adoringly at Kimberly as, in the background, Vegas cracked a smile and Studd rolled his eyes.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As Marcus Bagwell and Dustin Rhodes made their entrance for the match, Dallas turfed one of the ringside workers out of his seat and gave it to Kimberly so she could watch in comfort.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Heyman: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">He’s such a romantic, Ross.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Studd overcame Rhodes via nefarious means last Sunday, and this match gave Rhodes a chance at revenge. He and Bagwell went all out to try and take down the Diamond Mine duo, but on the outside Dallas proved to be a highly effective irritant, distracting Bagwell especially at critical moments. In spite of this, Rhodes and Bagwell put forward a valiant effort, and Rhodes even seemed to have the match won win a Bulldog on Studd, only for Page to drag him out of the ring by his feet as he tried to score the pin.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The referee yelled at Page, ordering him away from the ring. With his attention on Page, however, he failed to see Rhodes being ambushed by someone in the crowd, the attacker felling Rhodes with a clothesline as Vegas and Studd demolished Bagwell in the ring. As the referee returned his attention to the ring, Vegas made the cover to score the tainted victory – which Dallas and his charges celebrated as though it had won the Super Bowl.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Vaulting the barrier and entering the ring, Rhodes’ black-clad attacker drew a surprised reaction from the crowd and announcers, who only after a few long moments identified him as Shawn Michaels. Michaels shook hands with Studd and Vegas, before posing with a broad grin on his face, flexing his muscles.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

I don’t know what’s hotter – Kimberly Page, or the Clash XX main event! I do know that Saturday Night got off to a hot start with the clash between Lex Luger and Thomas Rich. The former United States champion seemed on the verge of toppling the former World champion when Alexandra York interfered – but this time the referee caught the York Foundation’s executive consultant in the act! Rich was disqualified, and the York Foundation locker room was not a happy place afterward.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Dangerous Alliance seem like a bunch of jocks some times, but Sting’s ready to stand up against his rivals at any time – although the Patriot and the Special Forces didn’t seem shy of the prospect of taking on the Alliance! Sting and the Steiners would later issue their own challenge for the Clash, calling out the Alliance in six man action... but I have a feeling that the WCW Special Forces may pip them to the post!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Could Ric Flair be on the verge of a career shift? After finding himself a little adrift following SuperBrawl II, the Nature Boy was approached by the Thrillseekers this Saturday Night and asked for tips on how to improve their performances. Flair seemed a little surprised... but why not? Who knows more about winning than the seven-time World champion? Woooo!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Can someone stop Cactus Jack trying to wrestle? El Tigre Blanco is a tough opponent, but the Television champion has never before won a match by stoppage – until he faced the wildman from Truth Or Consequences. Cactus collapsed in the ring and had to be stretchered out for the second week. Cactus may only have himself to blame, but the fans in attendance don’t need to see this!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Randy Savage overcame Dennis Condrey in a short bout, punishing his opponent with a level of intensity that seemed even greater than usual from the Macho Man.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Steiners overcame the Lightning Express in non-title action, and seem right on course for the Clash – can any trio from the Alliance hope to overcome the combined forces of the Michigan brothers and the Stinger?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</p></div><p></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Ric sank back into the plush seat of the limousine, feeling that he was worth the extra expense after a show as good as that had been. He fished in his coat pocket and pulled out the cellphone that had been delivered to his office backstage ‘so Mr Turner can call you when he wants to’.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>Do I really need this? I just proved I can do this – better than anyone! When did the WWF last put on a show that good? Or New Japan? Or anyone? The Nature Boy’s WCW is the cream of the crop! Whoooo!</em></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The phone rang loudly in his hand, and he nearly dropped it in surprise. Juggling it a couple of times, he managed to get it the right way up and flip it open.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Hello?”</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Ric! Great to hear your voice. Shawn Michaels making an impact already, I see! I have to give you credit, Ric, I would have expected you to lead with Warrior, or put Hart out there in a match... but you’re building to them, aren’t you? Send out Michaels first, save Hart and Warrior for later, that’s good, that’s </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>real</em></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> good. I’m impressed!”</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Vince? How did you get this number?”</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Vince’s throaty chuckle came through clearly over the cellphone’s earpiece.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Ric, Ric...” he chided, the broad smile that was surely spread across McMahon’s face almost as audible as the deep pleasure in his voice. “I’m calling to congratulate you, and to thank you.”</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Thank me? Thank me for what?”</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“For inspiring me to think differently, Ric. Ever since you came to see me, I’ve been looking at situations differently, like your roster, for example.”</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The last of the warm pride in Ric’s heart ebbed away at Vince’s words. “What do you mean?”</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Well, the contract negotiations you’ve been involved in the last few days... You’ve been very busy, haven’t you? Michael Hayes, Jim Ross, Owen Hart, to name a few. And, of course, you’ve had a tag team come up for renewal. I’m sure you thought ‘Well, they’re a team’ and honestly, at first, I thought the same. But then I looked at it the way you did and I saw it! That number two heel we’ve been after is right there in your tag division.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Well, I say ‘is’. ‘Was’ would be better. I’ve just got done with the negotiations, and they’ll be joining me in a week or so. I’m afraid that it messes up one of your matches for your Clash show but, well, they didn’t seem too bothered when we were discussing how much money they’d make over the next four years!”</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Ric scowled at the phone, but kept his tone measured. “So, who are we talking about, Vince?”</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Vince told him and, despite his best intentions, Ric swore.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>10 Questions With... Steve Austin</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">“Stunning” Steve Austin has had a rookie year like few others in WCW history, and it’s not over yet. Already a former Television champion, he was personally recruited to the Dangerous Alliance by Paul E. Dangerously as the group attempts to force WCW into accepting the future, now.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

It’s time, then, to ask him 10 questions...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

1. What prompted you to get involved in wrestling?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Austin</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Money. I was hauling crates at a dockyard and earning so little that I was eating raw potatoes – couldn’t even afford to cook them. I saw an advert for a wrestling school and figured ‘What have I got to lose?’ My first match, I earned $40. You can bet I’m getting more than that now.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

2. Who has been the biggest influence on your career?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Austin</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Right now, ain’t no-one had an influence on me except myself. Paul E. seems like he knows what he’s talking about, so for now I’m listening to him. Maybe he can say in the future that he made me into the biggest star in the business, or maybe I’ll get there on my own, just like I made it all the way to WCW without any help.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

3. What would you be if you weren’t a wrestler?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Austin</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Maybe I’d still be working at the dockyard. I was good at it. I’d be good at whatever I did – I’m not afraid of hard work, and I always want to be better tomorrow then I am today, so probably I’d be running the docks right now.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

4. What music do you listen to?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Austin</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Being a Texan I like country, of course – Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and the main man Willie Nelson. When I’m on the road, I’ll listen to anything to pass the time, though.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

5. What would your perfect day be?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Austin: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Waking up with nothing to do, having some barbeque for lunch, drink a couple of beers, admire all the title belts in my trophy cabinet, hop in my private jet and fly off to spend the night partying in Hollywood. There’s already one belt in the cabinet, now it’s time to add more.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

6. You dropped your last manager, Lady Blossom. Do you think you’re likely to have problems with Paul E. Dangerously and Madusa?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Austin</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Why would I? They know their business, and it’s all about making me look good. They do their job, then we’re all going to be on the same page – simple as that.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

7. As a relative newcomer to the business, have you been seeking the advice of veteran competitors to guide you in your career?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Austin</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Listen, “veteran” is just a nice way of saying “old”, and just because someone’s been around a long time don’t mean they’ve got anything worth me listening to them over. Someone like Arn Anderson, of course I listen when he talks, but respect isn’t something I hand out freely.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

8. Speaking of Arn Anderson, do you have your sights set on the United States title in the future?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Austin</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Are you trying to stir up trouble, son? Arn’s got the gold, and that’s the bottom line.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

9. Well then, what about the Television title?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Austin</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Sure, I want that back. Still don’t think I lost it legitimately, and when I get the chance I’ll Beat The Champ square in the middle of the ring, whether that’s Blanco or whoever. In fact, let’s save you some trouble: Any gold not held by a member of the Dangerous Alliance, I’m interested in!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

10. Is there any tension between Rick Rude and yourself?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Clearly cued by Dangerously, the six members of the Dangerous Alliance swarmed out of the crowd and into the ring, overwhelming Rick and Scott with the speed and precision of their attack. As Hart, Pillman and Anderson worked over Scott, Rude, Austin and Madusa beat down Rick. After an Anderson Spinebuster to Scott, and a Rude Awakening to Rick, Pillman and Madusa climbed opposite turnbuckles and delivered twin diving splashes from the top rope onto their victims.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dangerously, meanwhile, had walked slowly down the aisle, grinning broadly as he watched the demolition of the champions. He was spun around, however, by the arrival of Sting as the crowd favourite charged down the aisle and slid into the ring, meeting Hart, Pillman and Anderson with a flurry of punches as he tried to save his friends.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Dangerously:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Stop him! Stop him!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Between them the trio managed to hold Sting at bay, Anderson delivering another Spinebuster to put him down. Dangerously called for them to leave the ring and watch the aisle as Rude and Madusa held Rick motionless by the arms. Austin slid out of the ring and picked up a chair. Re-entering the ring, he tucked the chair under Rick’s chin, before snapping his head forward, driving the chair into his throat.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Dangerously:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> More!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Rick dropped to the mat, writhing and gagging in pain as he clutched at his throat. Rude delivered a contemptuous kick to his gut, before picking up the chair. As Scott tried to claw his way across the ring to his brother, Rude delivered an overhead swing with the chair that drove it into Rick’s unprotected head.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Rick lay limp and unmoving on the mat as Rude, Madusa and Austin surveyed their handiwork. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

On the outside, Anderson quickly hustled Dangerously away as Dustin Rhodes, Barry Windham, Ricky Steamboat and Lex Luger burst out of the locker rooms and down the aisle. Rude, Austin and Madusa were quick to follow their manager into the crowd. Pillman and Hart were close behind, but as they reached the guardrail Hart turned to look back at the carnage in the ring. Pillman grabbed him and pulled him away as Sting managed to get back to his feet and try and chase them, while Rhodes, Windham and the others checked on Rick and Scott.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Making his in-ring debut in WCW, the ‘Rough Diamond’ Shawn Michaels faced off against another hot young prospect in Marcus Bagwell. Bagwell fought hard, but while Michaels is young he’s seen a lot of the business and had some tricks up his sleeve that Bagwell had no answer to, eventually finishing him off with a Teardrop Suplex for the pin as Diamond Dallas Page celebrated with Kimberly at ringside. Afterwards, Michaels grabbed the mic and warned the WCW roster that the Rough Diamond would be just as hard to crack as he sounds!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Thomas Rich would love to add Television gold to his share of the Six Man titles, but El Tigre Blanco is no pushover as champion, and the masked man notched up his fourth successful defence with a Frog Splash in what could be his biggest victory since arriving in WCW! Blanco also equalled the recent record number of defences achieved by any Television champion since Commissioner Ventura ordered it to be defended each time WCW comes into your homes – and that’s a cool $4,000 in Blanco’s pocket for added excellence. All of which is great... except for Steve Austin making demands after the match – could Austin be next in line to try and Beat The Champ?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

While it may seem academic now to say it, the Calgary Connection made time on Sunday night </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>before</em></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> the Dangerous Alliance’s attack to warn the Steiners that they’d not hold onto the World tag titles for long. How much did the Connection know about what the Steiners had in store later that night?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Eight-man tag action saw the Young Pistols and Fabulous Malenkos teaming up again the Lightining Express, Tony Falk and Pat Rose, with the crowd favourites edging to victory when Steve Armstrong felled Tony Falk with a Missile Dropkick – something he made sure to rub in brother Brad’s face!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Special Forces have had a rough time of it of late, being mocked by the Dangerous Alliance last night, and running into the immovable objects known as Mr Hughes and Billy Jack Haynes this Sunday night, but with the Patriot to inspire them, perhaps they can rise again? They seemed intent on facing the Dangerous Alliance in a six-man match, so they certainly seem to believe in themselves!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

And, of course, the Steiner Brothers defeated the Stocks And Shares Express to retain their tag team titles, but that was hardly the big news coming out of the main event this Sunday...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">As Saturday Night came on the air, a collection of wrestlers stood together in the ring with Commissioner Ventura. Scott Steiner was pacing back and forth, one title belt strapped around his waist, the other over his shoulder, his knuckles white as he clutched at the golden faceplate.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

I assumed that, with you in charge, WCW would celebrate the survival of the fittest, and there is no-one fitter in WCW than the Dangerous Alliance. I mean, just look at them! You have the reigning World champion, ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude. You have the United States champion, ‘The Enforcer’ Arn Anderson. There is the reigning United States tag team champions, Owen Hart and Brian Pillman. ‘Stunning’ Steve Austin is a former and future champion. And last, but by no means least, Madusa, our Director of Covert Operations and the reigning, defending, NWA Women’s champion... Well, to say that we control WCW and its future is barely to do us justice.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

We did what we thought was necessary and we did it in an intelligent, effective and decisive way. The strong survive, Commissioner – isn’t that your ethos? Wasn’t that your commitment when taking the reins here?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Behind Commissioner Ventura, Scott Steiner looked as though he were about to blow a gasket, but Sting and Ricky Steamboat restrained him.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> You started a war when the Calgary Connection called them out, and you got in the first strike as well. If the Steiners had been smarter, they would have had more protection. Live and learn.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

He looked at Steiner as he said this, with the UMichigan graduate looking as though he wanted nothing more than to rip Ventura’s head from his shoulders before he moved onto the Alliance.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> But... I’ve spent the last week calming down investors, sweet talking advertisers and explaining to Ted Turner why you’re not being tossed out on your ear. That kind of hassle, I can do without.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dangerously: I understand, but I’m pleased that you see things my way. Now, as to the matter of the vacant World tag titles-</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Vacant? Who said anything about vacant? Steiner won the gold, and he’s got the gold. He doesn’t have a partner, but in two weeks’ time he’s going to be standing across the ring from Rick Rude and Steve Austin with the tag titles on the line. If he’s got a partner before then, then they’ll be recognised as the tag champions. If not, then he’s going to be in a handicap match... and right now, I wouldn’t bet against him winning that match.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> You see, I don’t have an issue with what you and your ‘pack of wolves’ did. You took out someone on their side, and either someone steps up, or you scored big. But you know that they’re going to hit back, and that’s going to be good for business... overall. Not so good for Rick Steiner, but maybe next time won’t be so good for Steve Austin or Rick Rude.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As Steiner nodded his agreement to this, Rude looked at him with a thoughtful expression, while Austin looked somewhat nervous.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> As for the Clash, Rude’s got a world title match, but Sting and Steiner say they’re going to find a partner if I put them in a six-man match against the Alliance, so pick your three and make sure they’re ready, because Steiner wants blood, and I don’t think Sting’s much happier.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dangerously’s reply was immediate.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Dangerously:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Arn Anderson and the Calgary Connection. They beat down Sting and Scott Steiner last week, they’ll do it again at the Clash.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Fine by me, consider it made.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Steiner:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I want Austin and Rude!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Ventura: You’ll get ‘em...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Steiner:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Next week-</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dangerously: Oh, I’m sorry. You see, Steve Austin and Rick Rude already have a match for next week and while it is a six-man match alongside one of their colleagues, it’s actually against those titans of liberty and justice for all, the Special Forces!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Fine, but not Anderson – he has a title match next week against...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Ventura turned to look at the massed ranks in the ring.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Luger: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Me.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Luger stepped forward before anyone else could react.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Luger: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">I carried that title with pride in the past. I want my shot at taking it back.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> You got it. Next week we’ll see Lex Luger against Arn Anderson for the United States title as well as the six-man match. Now... let him go.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Sting and Steamboat released Steiner, who’d calmed fractionally. Nonetheless, he glared daggers at the Alliance as they stood safely behind the massed security presence.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Steiner:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I’m not waiting for the Clash. I’ll hunt them down and beat them to a pulp backstage if I have to.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I know you would, but think smart, kid. Get them in the ring, where it matters. You want one of them next week?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Steiner:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I want all of them now!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I’ll take that as a yes. Hart or Pillman, pick one.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Steiner looked at the pair. Neither seemed entirely comfortable under the attention, which lasted for several long seconds, Steiner seemingly constantly on the verge of leaving the ring and trying to reach them.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Steiner:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Pillman, he used to ride with me and Rick, and then he pulled something like that... I want him beaten more. Hart can wait.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Ventura nodded and turned back to the Alliance.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Next week, then, Scott Steiner against Brian Pillman – which makes Owen Hart the third man in your team. That’s interesting, because you left me a lot of latitude in making matches for tonight, Paul. You wanted matches against ‘anyone but the Steiners’ for tonight – your choice of words, am I right?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Dangerously:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Actually, I said ‘anyone but the Steiners or their buddies’.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Ventura glanced at Steiner, who was still seething as he glowered at Dangerously and his clients.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I don’t think he’s feeling too friendly towards anyone right now. So, Austin came to me direct and wanted a chance to Beat The Champ tonight, and he’s got it, no problem.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Austin beamed at the confirmation he’d have a shot at the Television title as Ventura consulted a sheet of paper.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Now, let me see... Rude and Anderson can team up against the Thrillseekers...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The pair of champions exchanged looks at this, but didn’t seem too disturbed.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> ...who’ve been taking advice from Ric Flair over the last week.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This seemed to bother Rude and Anderson more.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Pillman... Well, last week he put on a great match against Ricky Steamboat, so let’s see the other half of the SuperBrawl II rematch tonight as he takes on Dustin Rhodes.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Rhodes smiled as he stepped forward and stared down at Pillman. Pillman glared back, showing nothing but resolve as he faced his opponent, while Dangerously and Madusa conferred furiously behind him.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> And since the Calgary Connection are a team, why not give Owen Hart the chance to take on another tall, blonde, multi-time champion? So here in the main event tonight it’ll be Owen Hart... against Sting!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Owen paled slightly as Sting howled in delight. Leaning over the top rope, he pointed at Sting as the fans cheered.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ross:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> What a huge main event – Sting against Owen Hart! And I can’t wait to hear what Paul E. Dangerously has to say about this when he joins me on commentary shortly!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Steiner grabbed Sting and spun him around.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Steiner:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> You make him pay, Sting.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

He glared at Rhodes.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Steiner:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Pillman, too. With my brother in hospital, I want them beaten for what they did to him – and I’ll finish the job myself if you don’t do it!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

While Sting is the former World champion, Hart seemed to have the advantage in the early going, able to move faster than Sting – something Sting is really not used to. And while Sting has great strength, Hart is definitely used to fighting stronger opponents. Sting was on the back foot for much of the early part of the match, with Hart nearly scoring the win with an Enziguri, only for Sting to get his foot on the rope at the last second.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ross:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> So close!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Dangerously:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> It’s going to get closer, Ross.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Sting rallied with the crowd behind him, firing off lefts and rights to drive Hart back and leave him draped in the corner. A Stinger Splash followed, but Hart was able to avoid the Scorpion Deathlock by scrambling for the ropes. Bailing out of the ring, Hart walked around the outside, trying to regain his focus. Sting followed him out, but Madusa jumped in front of him, initially trying once more to play to his ego, but when Sting shrugged this off, she slapped him across the face.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ross:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> That should be a disqualification right there!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Dangerously:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Come on, Ross, survival of the fittest, right?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As Sting snapped at Madusa, Hart leapt past her, smashing Sting in the side of the head with a forearm. The former World champion fired back, shoving Hart into the ringpost, the two men brawling wildly as the referee tried to get them back into the ring. Eventually, with the fight growing more and more heated, the referee called for the bell, disqualifying both men.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Dangerously:</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> You see? There’s your great Sting – taken to the limit by a 24 year old in his first year in the big leagues!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

If Hart was inclined to celebrate holding Sting to a – somewhat assisted – draw, he had no time to do so. Not only was Sting still clearly up for the fight, but the ringside area quickly became flooded with bodies as the Dangerous Alliance and Sting’s allies all charged down the aisle, each looking to reinforce their side in the burgeoning war. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As Hart and Sting brawled, and Rhodes and Rude traded shots, and the crowd grew wilder, and Windham and Austin kicked and punched one another, and Anderson and Steamboat struggled for advantage, and the crowd grew louder still, and Steiner pressed Pillman overhead and threw him into the ring, and Lex Luger tried to get past Madusa to help his allies, and the crowd’s roar was nearly deafening...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

In a big night for the Dangerous Alliance, Brian Pillman overcame fellow youngster Dustin Rhodes in underhand fashion, using Paul E. Dangerously’s cellphone to snatch the win. Credit where credit’s due, Madusa can conjure a foreign object from almost anywhere – but remember when Flyin’ Brian used to win his matches clean?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Does anyone know what Randy Savage is talking about? I’m not sure our backstage interviewer Trisa Hayes is any the wiser, somehow...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Steve Austin is your new Television champion, beating El Tigre Blanco with a Stun Gun and celebrating like he’d won the Super Bowl, Stanley Cup and World Series all in one go – but then, as the last member of the Dangerous Alliance to hold gold, he must have been feeling the pressure! Austin would later – rather rudely – accept the WCW Special Forces request for a match the following week. Um, has someone pointed out to Austin that he’ll now be fighting twice next Saturday?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

All credit to the Thrillseekers as they took Ric Flair’s advice to heart and tried to fight fire with fire, but Rude and Anderson are possibly a bit too hot to handle for the young Canadians right now.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Former World champion Nikita Koloff is searching for the next move in his career, and kept his hand in here with a powerhouse victory over Mr Hughes. With both Dan Spivey and Billy Jack Haynes being placed on the injured reserve of late, Harley Race’s group of bruisers is looking unusually lightweight!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Could Lex Luger be on his way back to the United States title? It’ll take a strong man to overcome not just Arn Anderson, but surely all his stablemates as well – but who’s stronger than the Total Package?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

More dissension in the ranks for the York Foundation? Thomas Rich and Terence Taylor just can’t seem to get on the same page – at least the Diamond Exchange enjoyed the show, catcalling both men before Alexandra York led her charges away somewhere private. The Exchange, suitably warmed up, enjoyed Diamond Studd powering to victory over young Marcus Bagwell – so much so that Vinnie Vegas declared that it looked so enjoyable he wanted a turn as well! Weary but willing, Bagwell said he’d fight Vegas on Main Event tomorrow night!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Jesse Ventura is braver than any of us, not just standing up to Cactus Jack, but ordering him home to heal! Sooner him than me, I can tell you! Ron Simmons was asked if he had any sympathy for Cactus, but shrugged the suggestion off – it was Cactus that picked their match stipulation, after all.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

We hear that Scott Steiner is looking for a new partner to replace his brother in defending the WCW World tag titles. Hiis scouting began against the Stocks and Shares Express this Sunday with Ricky Steamboat as his partner. The two made for a good combination, with Steamboat being a veteran tag performer, and edged out the Express in a near-rematch of last week’s main event. Will it be enough to earn Steamboat another run with the gold? We’ll have to wait and see – just as the Alliance seemed content to make us wait for another attack, thank goodness! Still, they could have stormed the ring once more... just where were Steamboat and Steiner’s allies?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dustin Rhodes is learning frighteningly quickly – his father’s son, clearly! – and showed that off with strong words and big actions in victory over Mr Hughes this Sunday night. Afterward, Hughes and Harley Race argued loudly and long in the ring before being ushered away by security. Now, all credit to Hughes for standing up for himself – but against ‘Handsome’ Harley, really?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Steve Austin made his first defence of the Television title against the veteran Jerry Lawler. Lawler’s got plenty of tricks of his own, but the presence of Madusa at ringside seemed more than usually distracting for Austin’s challenger. Austin took full advantage, pinning Lawler after a Stun Gun for the win – and a cool $1,000!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Marcus Bagwell is now 0 and 3 against the Diamond Exchange, the clean-cut youngster falling to Vinnie Vegas as he came out on top by sheer power – and a Snake Eyes, face first into the top turnbuckle. Afterwards, Michaels, Vegas, Studd and Page cracked jokes about which title they’d go after – until Kimberly pointed out that the three wrestlers could always work together...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Thrillseekers seem to have struck gold with their ‘mentor’, Ric Flair. While we doubt the Nature Boy wants to move into a solely advisory role, he does seem to be enjoying a little time away from the ring, and the Thrillseekers followed his advice to work their opponents’ knees as they brought down the Lightning Express.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Madusa continued the Dangerous Alliance’s dominant run with victory over Mariko Yoshida to defend her NWA Women’s title. We’re hearing rumblings that Commissioner Ventura may be looking for additional challengers for Madusa, who’s also appearing on other NWA shows to defend her title as well. But can anyone step up to the Director of Covert Operations?</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Young Pistols have their eyes on gold as well, and made an argument for a title shot with victory over Steven Dane and Tony DeVito.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

OOC: I was tempted to write something about the sex scandal that hit the WWF in early 1992 when </em>60 Minutes<em> ran an exposé on the sexual misconducts of certain WWF workers. When the narrative came up in the game I thought that it was something like Vince cheating on Linda (which he’s been open about, I believe). Looking up the details, it’s a lot worse, so I didn’t feel especially comfortable working it into the game.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>WWF have taken a prestige and financial hit from the narrative, but it hasn’t especially affected them. They’re still the biggest company in the world, size-wise. AJPW and CMLL are National, but kings of smaller hills. Influence-wise, they’re 8th (WCW are 3rd or 4th), and their prestige has dropped from D+ a month ago, when I last backed up, to D-. Not critical, then, just as this scandal wasn’t in real life – but the WWF still has the whole steroid trial to go through. I might just check the narratives for that to see how bad it gets before the WWF rebounds.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>In better news: Steve Austin has re-signed with WCW, we were able to hold off the WWF on this one, perhaps as a result of their recent bad publicity? For whatever reason, good news for us – Austin is the hottest worker in the company right now, and has signed for 4 years.</em></p>

<p>That was one swerve I didn't see coming! I know Rick has previous history tagging with the "man called Sting" and thought that Vince would naturally go after Scott because of his body. But Scott has a more non-traditional approach to wrestling, and Vinnie Mac may think he's unsafe. </p><p> </p><p>

If I recall, Rick actually was considered a better prospect than Scott at the time, and his push in WCW reflected it. I never thought he made a great heel, but maybe Vince sees something we don't.</p>
