Barry Windham is clearly not in a good mood – and that spilled over into his tag match with Ron Simmons against the Diamond Mine. Battling Vinnie Vegas, Windham hammered away as Vegas was caught in the corner, ignoring the referee as he counted to five and called for the bell, disqualifying Windham, who clearly couldn’t have cared less and who had to be dragged out of the ring by Simmons and Dustin Rhodes, all while a delighted Brian Pillman watched on!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Rhodes looked flustered later on, clearly still distracted by events earlier in the night, and he had a tough time with Terence Taylor in his Television title defence. The Computerised Man Of The ‘90s came close to victory with a Flying Fivearm, but Rhodes was able to get one long leg under the bottom rope. From there the big Texan rallied and was able to get the win with a Bulldog – but he certainly knew he’d been in a fight!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Alexander York’s help may have made the difference had she been able to focus on the main event, but Ms York was understandably flustered after the Stocks And Shares Express defeated the Thrillseekers; Never one to take defeat easily, Ric Flair crashed the Express’ after-match celebration and flirted with York, sending her hurrying out of the ring as Flair stood and laughed.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Dangerous Alliance trio of Steve Austin, Owen Hart and Madusa took down El Tigre Blanco, Konnan and Mariko Yoshida. Madusa was hitting especially hard, laying into Yoshida even as the Japanese competitor was stuck in the corner, until the referee dragged Madusa away. Apparently Madusa isn’t quite over her defeat at the Clash!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Four tag teams clashed as the depth of the WCW tag division was on display on Sunday night. The One Percenters looked dominant, even against the technical wizardry of the Fabulous Malenkos, the experience of the Lightning Express and the guts of the Special Forces. Brad Armstrong was the unfortunate victim of a Double Chokeslam from the Harris twins to take the fall. Afterwards, Firebreaker Chip had to be helped from the ring and seems to have injured his arm – more on this as we get it!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Dangerously: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Well, why not? I have the urge to knock his teeth down his throat every time I see him. I can only imagine what Big Van Vader makes of him.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Steamboat was cautious about engaging Vader in the early going of the match, understandably not wanting to get caught in range of the bigger man’s clubbing blows. But Vader is no lead-footed super heavyweight, and he was able to close the distance between himself and the Dragon almost as quickly as Steamboat could open it, keeping Steamboat on the back foot in the opening exchanges.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Steamboat eventually scored with what almost seemed like a desperation dropkick, but one that caught Vader flush on one side of his head. The big man seemed less certain in his movements afterwards, with Ross speculating that his equilibrium had been disrupted by the strike.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Steamboat made the most of the brief respite, peppering Vader with a series of clotheslines and kicks, focusing the latter on the big man’s knees and thighs to weaken his standing base.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

But Vader seemed barely to feel the blows as they landed, and soon enough the fog cleared. As Steamboat dived in with another clothesline, Vader slammed his arms together, catching Steamboat’s head in the middle, dropping him to the mat. As the Dragon lay on the mat, desperately trying to regain his bearings...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Rather than enter the ring, Hughes and the One Percenters simply took up station around it, with Harley Race forming the fourth point of a diamond trapping Steamboat in the ring with Vader. Steamboat, however, showed no signs of being willing – or, rather, able – to escape from Vader, as the 450 pound monster landed an elbow drop across Steamboat’s back and dragged him off the mat before slamming him back down.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

But the appearance of the Kingdom drew out Marcus Bagwell – despite his promises – as the youngster charged the ring and jumped on Hughes’ back. The sudden impact stunned even the silent big man, sending him staggering forward and bringing the Harris twins running to his defence. In the ring, Steamboat looked around and saw his young protégé locked in a fight with the trio and deftly evaded Vader’s charge into the corner. Climbing to the top rope, Steamboat flew through the air and toppled the Kingdom brutes with a crossbody that left all five men on the floor...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

...as, with Vader alone in the ring, the lights went out for a few seconds.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The lights came up again without further incident, leaving Vader staring about him, looking to all sides in anticipation of any further appearance. But there was nothing, just the One Percenters taking advantage of the distracted official to brutalise Ricky Steamboat as Mr Hughes crushed Marcus Bagwell against the ringpost. The Harrises rolled Steamboat back into the ring at Vader’s feet and, with Harley Race yelling at him from ringside, Vader turned his attention back to the task at hand, lifting Steamboat up as he tried to regain his wits and planting him with a Vader Bomb before he could. The pinfall duly followed as Vader claimed the scalp of a former World champion – albeit with some assistance!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

See, the big freaky Steiner did his best to bring an end to the Macho Man. That night, that wasn’t a match – that was an assassination attempt, and it was a good one, yeah! Scott Steiner caught me, and caught me good, and I was left bleeding and barely able to stand!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

You had your chance, Scott, and you didn’t get the job done, and now the Macho Man has got his eyes wide open, yeah-</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Savage removed his sunglasses, his bulging eyes staring unblinking down the camera lens.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

There’ll be no sneaking back, no catching me with my back turned, no letting my guard down. I got you two weeks’ ago, and I’ll get you again, that’s right, and I’ll snap one of those big arms off and beat you with it, yeah!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

What happened before wasn’t a match, Bischoff, but do I want Steiner in the ring? Yeah, I do, and I’ll get him. All that matters is how Commissioner the Body wants to play this, and I know the Body, yes I do, and he’ll want this somewhere the whole world can see, because this is WCW, this is where the big boys play, and Scott Steiner, yeah, he’s a big, big boy... but I’m the Macho Man, and whatever he’s got, I’ll take it and give him back more than he can handle!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Savage’s voice dropped from a bellow to a near-whisper as he grabbed the microphone and pulled it closer, making Bischoff yelp and grimace as Savage’s hand gripped his around the microphone handle, his wrist twisted at an unusual angle.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Before Sting defended his United States title, he was confronted backstage by Rick Rude.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

You had your chances, you lost, stick to defending your United States title – and know that Arn’s going to be back for it, or Steve, or Brian or Owen. Enjoy it while it lasts, and stick to your lane.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Sting went on to tackle Terence Taylor in a tremendous match, with the Computerised Man of the ‘90s giving the United States champion a run for his money in a tremendous contest. Sting came out on top of this defence by taking Taylor down with the Scorpion Deathlock for the submission, but certainly knew he’d been in a match afterwards! Afterwards, Nikita Koloff hit the ring to shake Sting’s hand – and issue a challenge for the United States title, which Sting accepted!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Ric Flair and Rick Rude both picked up wins again on Saturday night, with Flair forcing Robert Gibson to submit to the Figure Four Leglock, and Rude scoring with the Rude Awakening against Steve Armstrong.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Bret Hart still seems to be torn over the offer from the Dangerous Alliance, and wasn’t necessarily helped by Cactus Jack offering him some words of wisdom about all the treats the Dangerous Alliance’s money could buy – and he should know! Jack rhapsodised about the truck he bought with the money from taking out Sting, but Bret didn’t seem convinced. Still, how about a match with Ric Flair to take his mind off things? That was the offer from the Nature Boy, and Bret Hart seemed especially eager to accept!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

But I don’t know what in blue blazes you were thinking, PS!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Hayes protested that it had been a spur of the moment decision – but wouldn’t it be great if they could keep the US tag titles, </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>and</em></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> win the Six Man titles? The Pistols eventually agreed that </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>would</em></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> be great.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dustin Rhodes picked up another victory and $1,000 as he successfully defended his Television title against Pat Rose, scoring the win with a Bulldog. Afterwards, Rhodes said that he knew exactly what title he’d be chasing if he got his fifth win. Two to go!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Makie Numao – that name mean anything to anyone? Not me, at least, and yet in September 1992 she becomes the reining NWA Women’s champion, </div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">in her first match,</span></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> at the age of 19.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

In her second match she lost it back to Madusa before Saturday Night went on the air. Rhodes and Hart had the main event spotlight on them, and showed that these two youngsters, second-generation stars both, are definitely deserving of their place. The fans were vocal in their support of Rhodes, although had some cheers to spare for Windham as he watched Pillman closely on the far side of the ring. Pillman seemed intent on the match – so much so he seemed to be deliberately ignoring Windham, although the match was so good he may well have been as enthralled as the crowd! Inside the ring Rhodes pitted his strength and size against Hart’s speed and agility, and the contest was an even one, the two young bucks each coming close on several occasions to the win. It was Rhodes who managed to land the decisive blow, blocking an attempted Northern Lights Suplex and planting Hart with a Bulldog before the Canadian could react to score the three!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

With Firebreaker Chip injured, the Patriot and Todd Champion teamed up to face Dangerous Alliance allies Brian Pillman and Steve Austin in an enthralling opener. The atypical pairings both showed initiative and innovation as they took the fight to one another, but with Madusa on the outside the Alliance pairing had the edge, as Pillman flattened the Patriot with a Shining Wizard for the pin.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Sting and Nikita Koloff are clearly taking their upcoming United States title match seriously – the training montage that aired here showed Koloff doing roadwork around an abandoned logging camp, while the Stinger was working hard in a state-of-the-art gymnasium, lifting incredible amounts of weight.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Eight man tag action saw crowd favourites the Young Pistols and Thrillseekers clash with the Stocks And Shares Express and Lightning Express. It was a fast-paced, high-flying affair with the crowd on their feet for some of the thrilling action that the two teams put forward, before Tracy Smothers shocked Tim Horner with a Jaw Jacker, laying him out to score the win! Afterwards Michael Hayes congratulated the Pistols and announced that he had big news – the Diamond Mine would be challenging for the United States tag titles this coming Saturday Night!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

We suspect that the Young Pistols will put up a bigger test for Vinnie Vegas and Diamond Studd with their titles on the line!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Marcus Bagwell and Ricky Steamboat were backstage on Sunday night, deep in conversation as Steamboat was looked over by the trainers following his match with Big Van Vader. Bagwell seemed to be apologising – which Steamboat seemed happy to accept, to his credit.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Madusa has been feeling mean lately, no doubt due to Wendi Richter’s upsetting presence in WCW. In “I bet Vince loved that” news, NWA World Champion Johnny (Grunge) Rotten faced WWF World Champion Greg Valentine on WWC’s Caged Ambition card in Puerto Rico. To speak to the drawing power of Valentine, the match was the semi-final (Dick Murdoch over Invader #1 was the main event) and Valentine did the job.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

If you </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>are</em></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> going to have a PPA guy as your World champion, Vince...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

(I’m really resisting the urge to have Valentine come in as a York Foundation member, talking about how he wants to make </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>real</em></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> money, and have him lose to everyone. But that would only hasten the end of his title reign and, honestly, it doesn’t seem to be hurting WWF at the moment as they still have Hogan, albeit a Hogan who’s not wrestled in five weeks...)</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Fair play to Rotten, incidentally. Since winning the strap from Sabu three weeks ago, he’s made eight defences plus had two non-title matches. He’s appeared for WCWP, WCCW, ECWA, IWCCW, TWF, WWC and the UWFi. It’s only a snapshot, but that’s a real touring champion’s schedule. Ric’s pleased to see it, although I note that the last three champions have averaged nine defences each, so maybe Johnny’s not going to have much longer with the gold...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Izod Center fans were treated to a stunning display of technical wrestling from possibly the two best technicians in wrestling today, and were on their feet time and again as both men sought their signature submission holds! For Hart, however, escape from the Dangerous Alliance proved to be impossible, even during a potential match of the year candidate. Arn Anderson marched down the aisle and stood at ringside, distracting the Hitman. That distraction was enough for Flair to deftly roll up the Hitman for three – and no more, as Hart kicked out just as the referee’s hand hit the mat! Small wonder that Hart was furious with the outcome of the match... and the long-time friendship between Flair and Anderson, who’d slipped away in the aftermath!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Dustin Rhodes and Brian Pillman clashed in Rhodes’ fifth defence of the Television title. Pillman and Owen Hart didn’t want Rhodes to reach the magic fifth defence, and not just to keep Rhodes from getting his hands on $10,000! Pillman used every trick in the book to try and stop Rhodes, including involvement from Hart on the outside, but Barry Windham quickly hit ringside to stop that! Windham remained outside the ring to counter Hart’s presence, and Pillman seemed rattled by his presence, enough so that Rhodes was able to land the Bulldog for the successful title defence!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Rick Rude’s opponent in non-title action was Michael Hayes, and the World champion was able to put the Freebird down with a Rude Awakening for the win – but Hayes may have other things on his mind this Saturday night!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The Diamond Mine and Young Pistols clashed with the United States tag titles on the line in the first of the night’s three title matches. The rapid offence of the champions was enough to keep Vinnie Vegas and the Diamond Studd on the back foot in the first half of the match, but a big boot from Vegas slowed Armstrong enough to give the bigger team some momentum. With their strength and size advantage, the Diamond Mine slugged and battered their way back into the match. With the triple distractions of Diamond Dallas Page, Shawn Michaels and Kimberly Page at ringside, not even the presence of Michael Hayes in the Pistols’ corner was enough to keep matters balanced. And, indeed, the well-oiled movements of the Diamond Exchange machine were critical in the finale of the match, with Page laying out Hayes from behind, Michaels yanking Smothers off the ring apron, Kimberly distracting Armstrong so he couldn’t help his partners, and finally the Diamond Studd taking advantage of the distraction to lift Armstrong up for the Diamond Death Drop to secure the win and the titles!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Before the Exchange could celebrate adding more gold to their Six Man titles, Hayes jumped on Michaels and began pounding him with fists and feet. Smothers joined the fray and, with the help of one of the title belts, Armstrong did as well, laying out Page and tackling Studd as WCW officials sprinted down to the ring to try and bring the situation under control. This one is far from done, folks!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Speaking of the Diamond Mine, who’d like to see them face Ricky Steamboat and Marcus Bagwell? The two men gave their all in the ring, showing off their power and deceptive speed with Koloff at one point pressing Sting over his head once, twice, three times before slamming him to the mat. But the Post-Soviet Superstar came up short when Sting evaded a corner charge and Koloff hit hard, leaving him prey to a Stinger Splash, followed by the Scorpion Deathlock as Sting successfully retained his title! Afterwards, the two crowd favourites shook hands in a sign of mutual respect – although Rick Rude, watching backstage, seemed to view the display with utter </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>dis</em></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">respect!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Cactus Jack and Randy Savage were just hitting their groove as they brawled in the entrance way, the referee having been able to do little to convince them to keep their fight in the ring! Before the match could continue, however, Scott Steiner vaulted the guard rail after being absent last week and decked Savage with a Steinerline. Before the attack could continue, though, Steiner was distracted by Cactus cheering him on – apparently the wildman from Truth or Consequences really wants to see the two fight! That gave Commissioner Ventura the chance to interrupt and separate the pair with a security team. The Commissioner said he’d seen enough, and was learning from how he handled Cactus and Nikita Koloff – so at the Clash Steiner and Savage would meet in a Last Man Standing match to settle their beef.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ventura</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>: </strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">And maybe this way at least one of you will come out the other side still fit to fight!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Big Van Vader was holding a public training session at a New Jersey gym, making short work of several sparring partners as Harley Race gloated about his prowess, and the other members of the Kingdom watched on silently. Suddenly, Vader lunged out of the ring and grabbed a member of the crowd who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, rearing back to punch him before Mr Hughes and Race grabbed his arm and held him back. The sweatshirt ripped, revealing its wearer – an apparently innocent bystander who quickly turned and sprinted out of the gym! As Race looked at Vader in concern, the lights flickered briefly, promoting Vader to slam his hands into a turnbuckle so hard that the ropes snapped. </p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Cactus Jack had a suggestion for Commissioner Ventura to consider which may either be genius or insanity – or both! I don’t know about you, Commissioner, but I don’t think that sounds very likely at all! No, I think the big guy and the mad guy will try and break each other into little itty bits, bang bang! Sounds like a great fight to me, and I wanna be there to see it, front and centre!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

It’s the least I can do for you, boss, after you gave me that cage match against Nikita Koloff, you know, the one where neither of us could walk right for weeks afterwards and we had to be nursed back to full health... It’s a big welcome back to Dusty Rhodes after his recent sabbatical, with the American Dream slotting right into colour commentary on Sunday night like he’d never been away! And what better match for the three-time former Television champion to call first than the match between the Patriot and Terence Taylor to determine the new Television champ! With the ten pounds of silver and the potential to earn some serious money on the line, the masked man and the Computerised Man Of The ‘90s went at it for all the marbles. Alexandra York, at ringside, was instrumental in guiding her client through the match and her efforts paid off – possibly literally – as Taylor took control and rolled up Patriot for the win, with a handful of tights! I wonder if that move is something that York’s laptop spat out as its suggestion for the win!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Diamond Exchange weren’t too happy to have their title celebration spoiled again by being reminded that Vinnie Vegas and Diamond Studd had a match on Main Event, but they did, and Ricky Steamboat and Marcus Bagwell proved to be a tough challenge for the new United States tag team champs! In fact, so tough did Steamboat and Bagwell prove to be that Vegas eventually decided to take a powder, getting himself disqualified for a low blow on Steamboat – which Diamond Dallas Page compounded by attacking Bagwell with one of the title belts! But even that didn’t get the group much time to celebrate, as Michael Hayes and the Young Pistols charged the ring to resume the fight that had consumed last night’s show. With Page getting Kimberly – and himself – to safety, Vegas and Studd tired from their match, and Bagwell and Steamboat recovering enough to lay in some shots as well, the Diamond Exchange were forced to beat a retreat as Main Event went off the air!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Madusa was quick to accept Wendi Richter’s challenge for the upcoming Clash of the Champions, saying that the sooner Richter was out of her hair and out of WCW, the better! The Calgary Connection, for their part, shrugged off any suggestion that they’re concerned about their upcoming tag title match. Well, perhaps – but we’d be concerned if the two big Texans were out for our blood!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Brutal K did their best to live up to their name against Ron Simmons and Nikita Koloff, but the All-American and Post-Soviet Superstar were having none of it, overpowering the young Japanese duo en route to Simmons delivering a brutal Spinebuster to Kojima for the win in this truly international contest!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Ric Flair is back to his best of late, and hasn’t had as much time for the Thrillseekers as a result, but he still wants to help them improve, and lead them into battle on Sunday Night against the Kingdom trio of Hughes, Harris and Harris. The young Canadians held their own against their hulking opponents, but it was the wily veteran Flair who took the duke as the match broke down into chaos, clipping Ron Harris from behind to set up the Figure Four!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Samson is a good hand who’s improved a </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>lot</em></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> over the last year as he has three contracts (IWCCW, SSW, WCWP) and has worked nearly 80 matches since last July. Don’t be surprised to see him show up on a WCW undercard sometime soon – he’s a so-so all-rounder but has gained at least 12 points in almost all his Performance stats in that time, suggesting real potential.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

We’ll see where he is in another eight or nine matches, though, and if he manages to make it to double figures with the NWA belt first.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

*</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

In other news, FMW has closed down (‘FMW Close’ as the headline put it). I do try and keep struggling promotions open, but FMW was deep, deep in debt, way beyond the usual 50-100k I have to pay to stop someplace like LPWA going under.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Since the start of the game, FMW, ASCW (right after I made them a snazzy logo), IWF, ACW and the PWF have gone out of business. I realise, belatedly, that I’m sending Mike Graham off to work for a company that no longer exists (PWF). Oh well...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The UWF, remarkably, continues to chug along. Herb Abrams has deep pockets, and even though their shows are crushingly average (C-, give or take a few %) despite having Andre, Orndorff, Blanchard, Bigelow and Williams, they’re somehow still getting by.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

I don’t know, however, what supernatural force is preventing PNW from succumbing to the grave. The company is </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>$10 million </em></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">in the red – and given that they start just $1,000 in debt, it’s incredible they’ve survived so long. I worry about the future of WCW when we ‘only’ make $750k a month. </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>Losing</em></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> that amount, every month, for over a year is simply inexplicable.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

*</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

I was going to make a note of this ECWA title change anyway – </div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>Sid and Koko B. Ware</em></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> teamed up to win the tag titles on one of their shows. Then I noticed the e-mail in my inbox: Sid and Koko B. Ware, WWF midcarder and ex-WWF enhancement talent respectively, are the new NWA tag champs!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

It’s a funny old world.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">
