The Birth of Sports Entertainment: WWF 1983

Recommended Posts

The Year is 1983. Ronald Reagan is still President. Fast Times at Ridgemont High isn't a year old yet. And the world of professional wrestling is about to change forever.

Vincent Kennedy McMahon, the prodigal son of longtime WWWF promoter Vincent Jess McMahon has just purchased the newly rechristened World Wrestling Federation from his father. Vincent J McMahon, much to his chagrin in his failing health, can only watch as his son has grandiose plans for the World of professional wrestling. He intends to bring his concept of "sports entertainment" to the masses, and in order to do that, things are going to have to change. The WWF may not look like much now, but that can change in a hurry. We are about to witness the birth of sports entertainment.
