Company History: Next Generation Wrestling was founded with the intention of taking out PSW by a vengeful Doc Messing with a widely publicized internet article in January 2016 (Medium difficulty new company, $500,000 in the bank, 40 Pop across the US). Based in the Tri State area, the regional company quickly expanded onto Pay-Per-View through MySelectUSA in March and have been growing their fanbase across the country since. Their first year, the rEvolution Tour, saw 12 monthly shows, wrapped up by the recently held Anniversary Show 2017, which saw the first title change in company history as inaugural champion "Pure Athlete" Art Reed lost the NGW World title to "Young Gun" Harry Allen. However, young wrestlers like "Marksman" Kirk Jameson, "Rookie Monster" Primus Allen and undefeated NGW United States champion Dagger are hot on the heels of the new champion. Late 2016 also saw an expansion of the tag team division, with Jayson Van Pelt joining Jamie Atherton to form The Canadian Outlaws, CILL star Rapido joining tag team partner Amazing Fire Fly as Rapid Attack, and Topher Smith joining ACPW partner Ant-Man to reform The Gopher and The Ant, joining Tag Team champions Los Diabolicos (Delirium & Hush), current ACPW Tag Team champs O.M.G. (Kamikaze & Devyn Reynaud) and now departed tag team The Island Boys (Kid San Juan & Island Boy Apollo). During 2016, a few other big signings made their debut for NGW including "Instant Classic" Elliot Thomas and House of Stone graduate "The Man Without Fear" Sonny Wildside. Big things are expected from both young men, as well as many other stars of NGW.

Standard Tag Team Match

With the departure of The Island Boys, a new tag team makes their debut in Next Generation Wrestling. Having competed in the United States together for 5+ years (they were a team in TEW 2010, not sure about 2008), they face a new challenge in high-flying Topher Smith and the always shockingly muscular Ant-Man!

American Flash & Brendan Idol vs. "The Dark Minister" Aldous Blackfriar & "Triple Threat" Davis Wayne Newton

Standard Tag Match

Four men looking to pick up some momentum to start the year clash in a tag team match. The high-flying of Idol & Flash may give them the advantage, but Blackfriar and Newton will look use their versatility to their advantage. One of these teams will get a big boost to start out 2017!

Standard Singles Match

After months of chasing the United States championship, talented luchador Mr. Lucha III takes advantage of rival Dagger's ascension to take on a challenge of his own. But the near-unstoppable juggernaut known as The Rookie Monster stands in his way. Which talented youngster will start 2017 off with a huge victory?!

El Mitico Jr vs. La Sombra Jr

Standard Singles Match

The battle between The Tecnicos (Mr Lucha III, El Mitico Jr, El Orgulloso, Amazing Fire Fly & Rapido) and The Rudos (La Sombra Jr, Delirium & Hush) continues to rage on in NGW! In this rematch from the final show of 2016, will La Sombra score some singles momentum for his team or continue to struggle against the talented Mexican technician?

"Instant Classic" Elliot Thomas vs. "Marksman" Kirk Jameson

Standard Singles Match

After losing in a #1 Contender's Match in December, Jameson looks to finally close the gap and get back into the title picture, having not received a shot since the inaugural champion was crowned in March 2016. To do that, he's got to get through Thomas who has struggled since returning from a Strained Rotator Cuff in June. With Jameson's ability to pinpoint a limb, will Thomas be able to survive the match?!

NGW World Champion Harry Allen vs. NGW United States Champion Dagger

Champion's Showcase Match

It may be a non-title match for both of these men, but the stakes are still high for both competitors. Coming off of a rocky 2016 that ended on a high note as he captured the NGW World title, Harry Allen seeks to transition that momentum into a great start to 2017. However he'll have to go through the NGW United States champion Dagger, who went through all of 2016 undefeated and could make a huge statement for 2017 by keeping his streak alive!

NGW Night of Glory I

Quick Results

In the opening match, NGW Tag Team champions Los Diabolicos & The Canadian Outlaws knocked off Rapid Attack & O.M.G. when Jayson Van Pelt pinned Kamikaze in a high flying showcase. 56

The debuting Aces of Mayhem (Ace Youngblood & Max Mayhem) defeated The Gopher and the Ant in an impressive performance! 47

A video aired featuring highlights of youngster "The Man Without Fear" Sonny Wildside! 36

The pair of Davis Wayne Newton & Aldous Blackfriar defeated American Flash & Brendan Idol. 60

In a shocking upset, Mr. Lucha III rolled up Primus Allen for a quick three count! After the match, Allen cheap-shotted the young luchador and beat him down. 55/37

In a matchup rooted in lucha libre history, La Sombra Jr picked up the victory over El Mitico Jr, though things hardly seem settled between The Rudos and The Tecnicos. 68

In a #1 Contender's Match, "Marksman" Kirk Jameson made "Instant Classic" Elliot Thomas tap out to the Kirk-Hold, capitalizing on Thomas's injury history to pick him apart. 67

Before their Champion's Showcase match, Dagger declared that he made the United States title the only title that mattered in NGW and claimed he would beat Harry Allen. Allen offered to put the title on the line, but Dagger declined, saying he had the title that really mattered and Allen could keep his paper title! 54

In a huge upset, NGW United States champion Dagger kept his undefeated streak alive and defeated NGW World champion Harry Allen, but he needed to use underhanded tactics to do it. Allen's springboard fist drop instead resulted in a seemingly accidental low blow, only for Dagger to immediately capitalize with a tight roll up and handful of tights. After the match, the United States champion seemed proud of his victory despite the chorus of boos from the crowd. 63

Overall, the show was pretty good, though it peaked in the middle. The luchadors provided the match of the night, but the Champion's Showcase sets up some interesting matches for the future. 61
