We'll be seeing Bob Orton versus Paul Orndorff, with a hell of a lot at stake." Bruno: "Yes err, certainly a lot at stake in that one. You know, we're here in the Mid-Atlantic area tonight and Bob must still be upset at losing his title." Tony: "Wow, I had forgotten all about that. You know what..." Bruno: "Sorry Tony, but I need to interrupt you. I'd like our great production guys to play some footage from last month...is that possible? Thank you guys!" {Footage is shown of Nikita Koloff injuring David Sammartino.} Bruno: "Nikita, I am going to lay out a challenge to you right now. It's also a challenge to the UWF locker room. Bring yourself to Novembrawl, have whomever you want as a partner. You can face two men, I don't know, and I'll be there as the special referee." Tony: "WOW...you are kidding me! Folks, you just heard it right here. That is...oh, it would appear we're being joined by Herb." {Herb grabs a microphone.} Herb: "Tony...Bruno! What a night Novembrawl is going to be!" Bruno: "Herb, you appear to have a black eye." Herb: "I do, don't I. DYNAMITE, you'll pay for this! I have enough issues with UK wrestlers without you adding to them! You want to push someone around, TRY PUSHING LEE! Yes, that's right, my bodyguard...IN A CAGE, tonight. Guys, back to you." {Tony and Bruno just stand looking at Herb in disbelief as we go to the first match.} © <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43492" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;">Match #1 Furnas & Kroffat defeated Denny Brown & Lou Perez [This was basically a non-title warm up for Furnas & Kroffat, with Denny and Lou yet to make any sort of an impression since coming in from Florida along with Steve Keirn.] ©</div></div></blockquote> {Post-match, the Steiners made their way to the ring to stand toe to toe with Furnas & Kroffat. (E) {Larry Zbyszko is in the ring before his upcoming match.} Larry: "Bruno, my friend, let me be the first to step up and say that at Novembrawl I will proudly represent you versus the Koloffs. You know, wait...what are you doing here, do you want to fight now?" {Larry walks over to the ropes as Nikita Koloff is shown walking down the entrance way. He stops to snear towards Bruno and walks on, stopping just short of the ring. Larry is by now sitting on the middle rope.} Larry: "You're welcome to come in Nikita!" {Nikita just taps his wrist, turns and walks away again.} (B-) <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43492" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;">Match #2 Larry Zbyszko defeats Tommy Lane [This match would have probably have been over sooner had Larry not been looking over his shoulder occasionally. Tommy was once again the wrong person in the right place.] ©</div></div></blockquote> {Scotty Danger is backstage, Dave Finlay is about to walk past him and makes his way over. The camera shot zooms in and we catch some of the conversation.} Dave: "Oh, he did did he!" Scotty: "Who are you facing tonight anyway?" Dave: "Hotbody!" Scotty: "Well, good luck." Dave: "Problems...I'll bloody problems him" (D+) {We switch to Tony and Bruno.} Tony: "That match is up shortly, but first we have to go to Lou Albano." Bruno: "I tell you Tony, I fear the worst here." {Lou is sitting at Andre's bedside.} Lou: "This isn't the sort of corner I'd prefer, no..." Andre: "Lou, I can take it from here boss! Don Muraco, you're looking at a broken man. I'm still the giant, but I'm a broken man." Lou: "No you're not, you're Andre the Giant. You're a wonder of nature, you're..." Andre: "Lou, it's okay! Don, I'll be at Novembrawl and I'll be bringing two of the craziest and most savage wrestlers in the UWF with me." Lou: "YES, yeeeeeeeeeeeeees, you coward Muraco, you son of a..." Andre: "Lou, boss, please let me finish! Don, this may be one of my final matches. I'll tell you this though brother..." {Andre struggles to get out of bed, going for the side Lou isn't on. He supports himself with one hand against the wall as he stares deep in to the camera.} Andre: "...I might be a broken man, but I'm still a giant and still more than you can handle. HAHA, I'm on my way back and I'm coming for you Muraco!" {Andre slaps the camera and the picture goes dead.} (C+) <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43492" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;">Match #3 Dave Finlay defeats Johnny Hotbody [Absolutely brutal, you'd think it was Finlay training for a MMA fight and not The Blazer. Hotbody made the mistake of posing in front of the wrong man on the wrong night. The next mirror he poses in front of will probably be at a dentists after this one.] (E+)</div></div></blockquote> {Backstage footage is shown from Saturday night, with Rick and Missy in the locker room post-match.} Missy: "Rick, Rick...RIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!" Rick: "What? I've got enough to think about." Missy: "Evidently so." Rick: "What does that mean? You shouldn't even be in here." Missy: "Oh shut up, as if I've ever not been welcome in a male locker room. What was on your mind tonight? What's going on with Michael Hayes and you?" Rick: "You're imagining things, we just lost it's as simple as that." Missy: "Uhu!" {Missy just crosses her arms as Rick just looks up and then continues taking his boots off.} © <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43492" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;">Match #4 Dynamite Kid defeats Lee in a cage match [The match started relatively simply enough with a few lock ups and push offs, Lee trying to use his power advantage. After both men had locked up and worked along the far ropes to a corner, they would eventually break and Dynamite would drill Lee with knuckle dusters. Dynamite continued to drill him, over and over until Lee's blonde hair was almost entirely red. With Lee basically out of it, Dynamite would walk out the door and drop to the floor.] (C-)</div></div></blockquote> {Post-match, Lee had crawled to a point where his right arm was hanging outside the cage at ring canvas level. Dynamite noticed this, picked up a chair and smashed the chair across Lee's right arm.} (D) {We very quickly switched to Craig DeGeorge with a hastily arranged event centre.} Craig: "Okay, I erm seem to be a little unprepared here. I'm also hearing that our main event now has a ten minute time limit. So, hopefully you all found us okay for the first Big Wrestling on Saturday night. This week will of course see Rick Rude take on Lex Luger and...what are you doing here?" {Al Perez appears alongside Craig.} Al: "Konbanwa Craig! Why am I here? Well, those idiots in the office at New Japan have decided they don't have any use for me. Something about me being a disgrace to the profession and bringing shame upon Puroresu as they put it. So, seeing as I can't possibly make my reputation any worse I'm back in the UWF and you know what...I'm going to team up with Don Muraco. So, Andre, bring the crazy and the savage...I've proved since day one in the UWF that I just don't care PERIOD! Craig: "Well, I for one can't wait to see that." Al: "Funny Craig, very funny." The match soon moved there as both men brawled their way round the ring, back in, out the other side and back round again for the best part of ten minutes. (B-) WLOW D1 - JYD defeats Hector Guerrero (D+) Tony & Bruno take us through a preview of Big Wrestling, footage is shown of Pillman and Borne with it being announced that the NWA World Tag Team champions will be in action. © NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship Dean Malenko defeats Tom Brandi © We get a profile piece on Luger, who is shown training ahead of tomorrow's match and there's an interview where he discusses his jump across from WCW. (C+) The Steiners defeated Pegasus Kid & Norio Honaga (C+) WLOW D1 - King Kong Bundy defeated Dave Finlay by count out (D+) Cactus Jack tells Don Muraco to prepare himself and that he's continuing to prepare himself by making tonights match a bullrope match. (B-) WLOW D1 - Scott Hall defeats Cactus Jack in a bullrope match © WLOW D1 - Dick Slater defeats Nikita Koloff by count out © Post-match, David Sammartino stayed out to attack Nikita with Larry Zbyszko coming down and getting involved. John Nord appeared, as UWF officials got between Koloff and Sammartino, as Nord and Zbyszko started their match on the outside. Tonight we have a NWA World Heavyweight championship match, so fans and Les I think it'll be a cracker." Andre: "Okay boss, I'm ready now...thank you Dave, I feel much better. As you will see Don, I am getting a bit better every day. I'll not be perfect in November, those days are gone and past now. But, I am still a Giant and more of a man than you will ever be! Oh and Lou, I've not forgotten about your attacks on me. Having narrowly lost to Rick Rude in a NWA World Heavyweight title match at PNW Wasteland, he'll be hoping this isn't a sign for any NWA opportunity. The match itself was a bruising encounter, with Williams and Haynes going toe to toe for the most part.] (B-)</div></div></blockquote> {Paul Ellering is walking backstage, a few wrestlers are staring down the corridor and Paul initially thinks they're ignoring him until one points further down.} Paul: "HEY...is that any way to...WHAT THE..." {Paul walks at pace down the corridor, coming to a locker room with the door nearly off it's hinges, the frame destroyed and the door hanging out of the room. Paul carefully inches his way past the broken door and frame as he enters the room.} Paul: "What the hell? Don't these doors open inwards...what happened?" {Herb is sitting at his desk, paperwork everywhere, in a state of shock.} Herb: "D...D...D...Dynamite was in for a meeting!" Paul: "Hmmmmm, well he evidently needs to calm down. The NWA don't need behaviour like this." (C-) <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43492" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;">NWA World Heavyweight Championship Rick Rude and Lex Luger go to a double disqualification draw [With the match fairly even, Rick would be sent to the outside and The Power Twins would move towards the ring to help. The Steiners came racing down and all hell broke loose with Rude and Luger both looking to try and calm things down until Rick Rude pushed Scott Steiner. Les: "Did he sleep here?"

Mark: "If he did, I doubt he was alone...remember and check each seat."

Les: "Oh yeah, two times at the dry cleaners last time we..."

Herb: "Ah, you're here. Sit...go on, they're safe."

Mark: "Herb, looks like you've been up all night mate. What's all this?"

Herb: "Notes, thoughts, scribbles...I had an agenda here somewhere. WHERE IS IT?"

Les: "Ha, Herb...a what?"

Herb: "They had one at ESPN. Shows, deals, money, assistance, AOB..."

Mark: "Herb, just start and I suppose we'll just grab a few sheets and..."

Herb: "Yeah, YEAH...great idea! I'll start, you guys stop me if you see anything interesting."

Les & Mark: "Canada?"

Herb: "Wow, don't even let me start then! Well, I've no idea what Paul is actually planning. That was the other thing about the ESPN meeting, the NWA were there."

Les: "So, you knew about Paul then?"

Herb: What? No! I knew about the election, errrr, the two of us and Steve Rickard. You know, runs the New Zealand territory and..."

Mark: "Never been to New Zealand...erm, I mean...ignore that Herb. Ignooooooooooooooooooore it!"

Herb: "...so, that was as much as...oh, oh, EUROPE..."

Les: "Uhu?"

Herb: "You remember I said the NWA want some sort of presence, never had it before?"

Mark: "No, but then you probably think you told us. Oh, Orndorff...wow!"

Herb: "Well, apparently there is a chance of it!"

Les: "Of what?"

Herb: "Of the NWA paying for a European venue or two, bit of a Tour! Apparently, GET THIS, there's a venue in France where the ring is in the water!"

Mark: "Yeah, you row out!"

Les: "Shut up! Anyway, the state of some of our guys...they'd drown out there."

A few promotions have been getting hostile, so maybe it wasn't all about Steve Keirn talking to people. First guy you fire, if in the World League, Keirn is back in. Then again, maybe Scotty Danger is right...no, he's...wait...no...okay, first guy you fire then Keirn is in the battle royal. Match...tag...battle royal...we had a battle royal...fans like a battle royal..."

Mark: "Oh yeah, fans Herb! The bloody fans, getting to select matches. Hang on, there's not much mail in amongst this lot."

Herb: "You mean NO MAIL, there's no mail amongst this lot. There's some NWA mail..."

Mark: "Well, Paul did have a lot of it."

Les: "He did, didn't he."

Mark: "A lot of it was from Canada too."

Herb: "SHUT UP! You know what, I was at some stupid award ceremony the other night...at least, I think I was. There were guys there, looked older than I remember, some looked younger and some I'm not even sure were born yet...hmmm, now I think of it..."

Mark: "Herb mate, get to the bloody point!!!"

Herb: "Right, RIGHT...the point...oh yeah. I decided to buy a wrestling magazine, I know I know...but, apparently the UWF holds the record for the fewest items of mail received by any promotion EVER!"

Mark: "Fine, good, bloody idiots. If they were so knowledgable, so amazing, they'd do some training and get in the ring. Reading their bloody dirt sheets, that f...AAAAAAAAARGH! He's never campaigned for me did he, probably too stupid to realise I was Black Tiger."

Les: "Mark, come on, we can't have two lunatics at the table."

Herb: "Thank you Les...err, wait...oh, OH, you know what else. These fans, they have these play by mail things. They create promotions, wrestlers and pretend to be them. Their mum's upstairs making their dinner and they're in the basement pretending to be Zack Starvage."

Les: "Oh, now this is interesting. This folder here Herb, the IWCCW one. You handed the keys to Jim Cornette. What about Kevin?"

Herb: "Yes, err Kevin wasn't looking himself so I said he could concentrate on the wrestling and maybe we'll see him in the new year. It all needed freshened up anyway."

Mark: "The girls, I didn't realise we still had anything to do with...what is it...the Ladies Major League Wrestling."

Herb: "No, no, it's sort of dropped off my...well, our..."

Les & Mark: "Aye, blame us."

Mark: "That party didn't help...I'M MISTER ELECTRICITY...bzzzzz...bzzzz...bloody disturbing."

Herb: "Ohhhhhhhhhh, I'm better give Howard a call."

Les: "Better him than Luna, that black eye of yours is bad enough."

Herb: "Right, enough! Any concerns that anyone has? Contracts...suggestions even?"

Mark: "Well, 2 Cold and Action Jackson looked good. They're not in the leagues, let's tag them up."

Les: "Baby Doll, you know she speaks Spanish."

Herb: "I did not know that, well aside from tequila."

Mark: "Right, very good. David looks like he's keen to get injured again, it feels like he has been feuding with Ivan since 1921, not just through 1991!"

Les: "Bruno appears to want to help him, try and push him in the right direction. Maybe some wins, some momentum, a title run or at least a move towards a title. Are we still unifying the Canadian belt?"

Mark: "This sheet right here says...WOAH, what?"

Herb: "Don't read that, don't even...I said I was just scribbling, noting a few thoughts out. But no, I think we'll be keeping it for now."

Les: "Right, okay, elephant in the room time. Andre?"

Mark: "Oh man, it's sad isn't it. I hope he gets a bit of revenge."

Les: "Who is teaming with Muraco and Perez?"

Herb: "Does it really matter? I'm not sure if we'll need to select someone for them, heck they can GO WITH TWO!"

Mark: "Right, final thing, a few of the guys are unhappy."

Herb: "Because?"

Les: "Not being used, stuff like that."

Herb: "WHO?"

Mark: "Doesn't matter, just thought I'd highlight it."

Herb: "Well...JOB THEM. Screw them, we've got ESPN, we're part of the NWA. Where will they get exposure like that? If they impress or improve then great, if they leave THEN FINE! Right, I think we'll call it a day here. I fully expect an announcement from Paul on Friday or Saturday. So, guys, look out those big winter jackets...you know, tiger!"

Herb: "We've a lot to come tonight everyone, with ESPN bringing it all right in to your front room." Tony: "There have, of course, been some rumours flying around regarding Lex Luger. A LOT of talk backstage..." Herb: "Is there?" Tony: "Yes there is." Herb: "Like what?" Tony: "Well, I wouldn't want to start actually discussing specifics out here." Herb: "Oh, but you can have everyone watching at home wondering can't you! Right, let's move on and get in to the show." © <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43492" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;">UWF European Championship Kendo Nagasaki defeats David Sammartino in a ladder match [With Bruno at ringside, David appeared to have a new level of focus. Perhaps it was the need to impress, perhaps David felt safer, but this was a very different David Sammartino. Kendo, of course, is a legend in the UK and brought all of his qualities to this match. Indeed, Kendo seemed slightly consumed by the fact Bruno was at ringside...bowing to him pre-match and then gazing across a number of times during the match itself. The ladder added a new dimension to the match, with Bruno actually moving each ladder closer to the ring. That would be part of David's downfall, as Kendo was first to the ladder and would control the initial phase. This control included a kamikaze roll on to the ladder from the 44 year old Nagasaki. At this point, Kendo would leave the ring and just stand in front of Bruno and stare deep in to his eyes. Eventually, with Bruno looking very confused, David would take control and both men would brawl on the outside. There wasn't much actual in-ring action for a good while, both men eventually making their own ways back in. David would execute a couple of chops then quickly slam Kendo to the mat. With Bruno slapping the apron, David would collect a ladder and set it up. He began to climb, no movement from Kendo, and was almost at the top as Kendo got to his feet and just looked up at David. David stopped dead in his tracks, almost transfixed by Kendo, before slowly stepping down the ladder. Tony: "What is...this is one of the weirdest things I've seen in the UWF!" Herb: "You need to come out with me more Tony, but I certainly agree." Once down, David would leave the ring and was stopped by Bruno as David pushed Bruno off and walked to the back. I don't usually care, hell we don't usually care, but this is nothing short of absolute bull..." Dave Finlay: "Hey, hey, there he is!" {Dave disappears off and comes back with Herb in a headlock, he ruffles his hair a bit. Dynamite spits in his hand and ruffles Herb's hair.} Dynamite: "So, what's the bloody deal Herb? Fairer bloody treatment we said, this is messed up." Dave Finlay: "YEAH, we don't have a third member of our team. You're taking the..." Herb: "No, no, no, I...oh, look, here he comes." {Adrian Street walks across to be with Dynamite and Dave.} Adrian: "Hi guys, fancy going and getting some gold tonight. The United Terrors!" Herb: "He's your filler!" Adrian: "Their what? Filler? I've told you before, I'm not..." Herb: "No, I meant as in replacement...not as in..." Dynamite: "WHAT? Huh...ah shut up!" {Dynamite pie faces Herb backwards on to a nearby table.} (D) <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43492" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;">NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship Dean Malenko defeats 2 Cold Scorpio [This match was another great advert for the lighter workers in the UWF. Malenko continued to show why the belt is around his waist, whilst Scorpio did himself nothing but good with regards future opportunities. The match itself was fast pace for the first spell until Scorpio missed a enzeguiri and Malenko would begin working the left leg of Scorpio. Sadly, this was all broken up by Iceman Parsons attacking Action Jackson at ringside. Malenko would even take offence, trying to usher Parsons away and suffering a quick attempted roll up by Scorpio who wasn't fully aware of what was going on. Scorpio would immediately attempt a springboard splash on Iceman Parsons though he would fail to connect and Parsons threw him in to the guardrails then back in to the ring. With Malenko refusing to make a cover, he would wait until Scorpio was back on his feet. Parsons would leave, having made his point, and Scorpio's left knee eventually caused the finish as Malenko won with a single crab.] (C-) </div></div></blockquote> {We're back with Tony and Bruno.} Tony: "Bruno, what happened with David?" {Bruno talks over some backstage footage that's being shown.} Bruno: "I don't know Tony. Bruno: "I didn't even get close enough for him to err ignore me. It was like he didn't realise I was there." Indeed, Blaze has been loaned to PNW and is yet to appear for them...making this his first match in October. Furnas, of course, impressed from start to finish and ended the suffering with a bridging german suplex.] © </div></div></blockquote> {We move backstage again, Herb is walking round with an ice pack on his face. Paul Ellering walks across to him.} Paul: "Herb, another bit of constructive engagement with a UWF wrestler I see! You know, you should get a bodyguard...oh, oooops!" Herb: "FUNNY...NOT! What's the story with this battle royal?" Paul: "Oh just, you know...the NWA covering their bases so far as opponents for Rick." Herb: "But, he has Lex at Novembrawl." Paul: "Yeah, about that...erm, not right now with the cameras here. Talk later though." {Paul steps backwards, straight in to Andre the Giant.} Lou: "Hey, watch where you're going Smellering! You rat, I've not forgotten about..." Paul: "What...me doing the dirty on Muraco? Yeah, right okay, speak to you all later." Andre: "Hey boss...did you annoy someone again? Rick: "TURN THIS RIGHT UP!" {Rick is pacing, Missy isn't quite sure where to stand and selects the back right corner. Rick slides his robe off and Missy picks it up.} Rick: "You'd think I'd...SHUT UP! You stinking, earn nothing, expect everything pieces of New York trash. You know, you're just like Lex Luger. Waltzing around, coasting, thinking that life owes you something and when the big opportunity does offer itself you allow it to slip through your fingers. That's if you can even be bothered moving your fat arms enough to even reach out for it. LUGER, I've built this company up with my blood and sweat...I'll be absolutely..." Bruno: "His microphone must be broken Tony." Tony: "Oh, I think we're about to find out." {Rick makes his way across to the announce area.} Rick: "Give me a headset! Why don't you sit down with us and relax during the next match." Rick: "I think I will, Missy you can stay out too. What match is it anyway?" Tony: "It's errm, the six man tag." {We see Rick holding his head in his hands then looking to the sky.} (C+) <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43492" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;">NWA World Six Man Tag Team Championship The Fabulous Freebirds (Hayes, Garvin & Masked Man) defeated The United Terrors (Kid, Finlay & Street) by disqualification [i don't know if this match was what the UWF fan who selected it had in mind, but the fans at ringside or watching on television will never forget it. Dave Meltzer did call it a two star, living the life of a one star, but that was mainly due to the obvious state of two of the competitors. Finlay and Street both impressed, Street keeping it simple and Finlay ensuring the opponents went through some quick fire tags just to stay out of his way. Hayes, as always, had the fans in the palm of his hand and the masked man showed a few glimpses of quality. By the time Garvin and Dynamite locked up, both those men had done very little and were mostly slouched against the ringpost looking a bit bored. Dynamite soon slapped Garvin out of that funk, hitting a suplex then a diving headbutt that had the ring fill up with all six competitors. Order restored, Dynamite would tag out and notice that Missy was moving towards the ring...evidently to look at the masked man closer. Dynamite jumped down to the ringside area and ordered Missy back, something including the word "cow" was overheard. Before Rick Rude could intervene, Dynamite had pushed Missy to the ground and the bell went. Everyone looked across to the timekeepers area, only to see Herb furiously ringing the bell.] ©</div></div></blockquote> {Post-match, Dynamite didn't have time to go after Herb as Jimmy Garvin was pointing down at Dynamite and laughing.} Bruno: "Tony I...Herb, what are you doing?" Tony: "Bruno, I think Jimmy Garvin has more to worry about now than Herb does!" {Dynamite has by now slid in the ring, Finlay and Street are brawling on the outside with Hayes and the masked man. Garvin is still laughing, "she's a belter man, so funny" was over heard followed by "belter?" as Dynamite smashed Garvin straight in the mouth...teeth flying like mint tic tacs. Garvin went down and Dynamite slid out to go for a chair, just as Finlay came back in with the masked man. Finlay had the masked man in a full nelson as Dynamite wound up with the chair, cracking him one and Finlay ripped off the mask as the masked man slumped to the floor. Very few people saw who it was, indeed Hayes had scrambled in and covered him. Missy though, who was on her knees against the ring apron, obviously saw all from her low vantage point and turned to go straight after Rick Rude. Tony: "We've all heard the rumours and he has looked better." Bruno: "You know, sometimes you bulk up a little bit as you prepare for a major bout. Lex wouldn't have expected this match, remember it was the great UWF fans who requested it." Tony: "Very good point Bruno!" Lou and Andre came down next, Lou was carrying a picture of Don Muraco as he ranted and raved on the way down. Andre grabbed the picture and tore it up." The match itself saw an initial phase of Lex trying to overpower Andre, which only led to disappointment and Lex sliding out the ring. Andre would becon him back in each time, with the third instance seeing Andre connect with a clubbing blow to the back as Lex came back in. Some fairly standard work of Lex being clubbed round the ring followed, with only Andre's condition bringing any relief to Luger. Eventually Lex would get a quick chop in that caught Andre. A few punches followed and Andre was down to one knee. Sadly, The Power Twins had made their way to ringside...followed by The Steiners and we saw a stand-off that had Luger watching on from the ropes. Andre would tip Luger out of the ring and then go across to speak to Lou Albano. The camera shot would pan to show Al Perez sat at ringside, Lou would notice the commotion in the crowd and make his way across. Al would slap Lou, grab a chair and leap the barrier then hit Andre with a single chair shot. Lex turned, couldn't see Al, and only saw Andre down. Lex would immediately take the opportunity to claim the flag unopposed and take the victory.] (C-)</div></div></blockquote> {Post-match, Lex had left and Al came in to the ring. Andre had just about managed to get to his feet, with Lou having found the ringside microphone and is now on the ring apron holding the microphone towards Andre.} Andre: "You should have stayed in Japan Al. (C-) <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43492" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;">NWA World Heavyweight Championship versus the UWF Americas Championship Rick Rude defeats Brian Pillman [brian Pillman looked like a man on his mission as he made his way down to the ring. Rick, on the other hand, was still arguing with Missy Hyatt as he made his way down to ringside. Tony: "Wow, Bruno, that's certainly no way to prepare for a major title defence." Bruno: "No, no it's not. We didn't really have that distraction in my day, it was more err the dangers of trying to get to the ring." All through the match, Missy would be shouting "he knew, he knew" and acting a bit erratically. The match itself, outside of the Missy spells of interruption, was extremely entertaining and gave both me the chance to show exactly what they can do. Brian had a series of spells of domination, usually after Rick had been distracted by Missy. One spell of note came after a sprinboard clothesline, which was followed by Brian calling upon some of his Stu Hart training as he worked Rude's left arm. Rude on the other hand, would side step a later attempt at a springboared moonsault after Pillman had ducked under an attempted clothesline. As the match came near it's conclusion, Rude would take control with some fairly meticulous chops, clubs to the back and mat work. Rick would constantly wave Missy away as she gave a few volleys of anger, which eventually led to Missy getting on the ring apron. Pillman would notice this and go to gesture for Missy to get down, as he turned back round he was caught with and dropped neck first across the top rope. Rude would follow that up with a Rude Awakening for the win.] (B-) </div></div></blockquote>Overall: B- TV Rating: 0.18

Well, top of the first division is Paul Orndorff. This possibly isn't a surprise, with Paul being particularly happy with his win over Bob Orton. Just behind Paul, we have King Kong Bundy and the surprise package Dick Slater. Slater of course having had a count out victory over Nikita Koloff as part of his run to date. Things are far from over, with everyone still to have another twelve matches, though can the likes of John Nord stop this from becoming a three horse race. This would see Dynamite grab Jimmy, but Michael Hayes would intervene and almost unfortunately Herb Abrams appeared and pushed Michael aside to get at Dynamite. Herb would spin Dynamite round and immediately found Dynamite grabbing him by the throat and pushing him to a corner. Lee would appear and distract Dynamite. This allowed Herb to grab a microphone.} Herb: "Hey...HEY...I've had enough of this. You've been nothing but trouble since you came in, you're FI..." {Michael Hayes grabs the microphone.} Michael: "Herb, chill! Don't fire him, give him to us. Tommy, dude, you're one messed up brother...you're ****ing nuts pal! Leave the ring, we'll see you and some of your pals at Novembrawl. Beat us and you can stay, lose and you're gone dude. Missy spent most of the match reacting to the fans and not looking happy, whilst Rick would occasionally send either of the Power Twins down from the apron to talk to her. This usually led to a Steiner taking control of the match. Really glad to see this back! If there was a fed that could challenge WWF and WCW in the early 90's, UWF was it -- sadly, they were mismanaged. But with the right mind behind them, they could've been great.

{Post-show}

Reports swept round the roster about a post-show incident backstage. Baby Doll was in attendance at the time, albeit only outside the room itself. Bob Bradley and Scott Norton had been brought backstage by Mark Rocco, not the first time workers have been called back and it won't be the last. After a minute or so, Paul Ellering came flying out the room and he was quickly followed by Bob Bradley. Neither stopped to say much to Baby Doll, though Bob did say it looks like Keirn might be a happy boy. After five minutes or so, Scott Norton came out the door and he was still shouting back in. Rocco came out and got in Scott's face, with Herb appearing also. According to Baby Doll, things seemed to have calmed down until Herb whispered in Norton's ear and Norton grabbed for him. At that point, Les Thatcher appeared and escorted Baby Doll away.

Paul: "As drugs scandal grips professional wrestling, the NWA can not accept the net of blame to be cast their way. With that in mind, we instigated and funded a UWF roster wide drug test over the past two weeks and the results are inside this envelope. For some on the roster, this may be their last night with the UWF, or we may be able to move on together with our heads held high." {Paul opens the envelope, reads the sheet of paper and hands it to Herb. Herb drops the piece of paper and just looks back at Paul.} Herb: "Paul, this...how can we? All of them?" Paul: "Ladies and gentlemen, we'll return to your screens after a round-up of last night's World League of Wrestling matches." (D-) {10 minutes of highlights are shown of the previous nights matches.} © {We return to Paul and Herb, Paul is holding the NWA World Heavyweight Championship belt over his shoulder.} Herb: "I've literally NO IDEA where to start, but we had no choice. I'm just going to read out the list of UWF wrestlers who will no longer be on your screens. 2 Cold Scorpio, Al Perez, Bam Bam Bigelow, Billy Jack Haynes, Canadian Giant, Chris Adams, David Sammartino, Dynamite Kid, Junkyard Dog, Lex Luger, Louie Spicolli, Matt Borne, Missy Hyatt, Nikita Koloff, Paul Orndorff, Pegasus Kid, Rick Rude, Scott Hall, Scott Steiner, Scotty Danger and The Viking." Ivan, you've lost your partner for Novembrawl and I've lost my tag team partner too. So, how about we end it once and for all. You lose and you're never seen on ESPN again, if I lose then I'll never accept a title opportunity in the UWF." (C-) {We head quickly backstage where Les Thatcher is giving instruction to someone off screen.} Les: "Look, we can discuss all of that later. Just go out there and give us a match. Okay, right what next...ah, Steve." Steve Keirn: "Am I in?" Les: "Things have changed a bit Steve, but not enough for you to walk in to the league. It'll be some sort of qualifier, tonight. Sorry, I need to get back in the room." {We return to Bob Caudle.} Bob: "Well, wrestling fans, up next apparently is a NWA World Tag Team Championship match. We already have the champions in the ring, but...oh, well, what a potential team this is. Bob Orton Jnr and Steve Williams!" {Both men come down to the ring, Steve is about to shake hands with Kroffat and Furnas when Bob stops him and asks for a microphone.} Bob: "Steve, these hand shakes have to stop. There's enough going on without me wondering if my tag team partner is fully on my side. Besides son, it's a bit soft isn't it! Just follow the Ace and we'll all be fine." [This was a fantastic match, though the tension between Orton and Williams was evident right from the off. Some quick fire tag work saw the champions take control of the match, but Williams would eventually get in and had his chance to show Orton how it was done. From here, there was a phase of the challengers using the champions as fodder whilst looking to impress each other. One big move followed another until Orton tagged himself in, which saw Williams get in his face. Orton hit Kroffat with a clothesline, walked across to Williams and we could hear "see...follow that!" Williams tagged himself back in, picked up Kroffat and ran towards the corner...where he swung Kroffat towards Orton and knocked Orton to the floor. Williams would dump Kroffat to the mat and go out to attack Orton. Herb: "Larry! We don't usually see you down here with us."

Larry: "No, no, I...Herb..."

Herb: "Oh, sorry, just a bit you know. Oh, I didn't thank you selling the training complex so quickly."

Larry: "Yeah well, there's always someone out there willing to...right, I'm away guys. Oh, any interest in Prichard?"

Herb: "Huh, wh...yes, why not. Get it right up Jerry and his...ah, nope it's the guy with the food. Right Larry, see you later."

Mark: "So, Herb...HERB!!! Stop looking at every waiter and, well actually she's okay, erm waitress who goes past."

Les: "No phone call yet then?"

Herb: "No, nothing. Who knows what hour it is over there, nine at night or something isn't it."

{The waiter brings the last of the food over and hands a fax to Herb.}

Herb: "A Fax...he's DOING IT BY FAX!"

Les: "Mark, you had anyone show any interest?"

Mark: "About five Les, my name still carries some weight out there. Black Tiger, Blaaaaack Tigeeeeer, it's amazing!"

Les: "I've only had one so far, but..."

{Herb thumps the table, which startles everyone in the hotel's breakfast area.}

Herb: "BASTARD!"

Les: "Herb, for the..."

Herb: "Sorry, sorry, but this fax...well, not the official bit. But, this ****ing covering letter!"

Les: "Herb, give it here. Mark, take Herb across for a coffee...calm him down."

Mark: "Bloody hell, okay come on Herb."

{Mark and Herb get up and walk over to the serving area. Herb could still be heard occasionally as Les looked over the covering letter and the official documents.}

Les: "All seems fair enough, can see why Herb is upset though. We can be...well, not that!"

Herb: "CHAOS, I'll give him bloody chaos Mark."

Les: "Got us the ESPN deal? Prestige to the titles within the UWF, hmmm well I'll...oh hang on, DYING???"

Herb: "Bloody worthless, WORTHLESS!"

Les: "Herb, Mark, just come back over."

{Les waits as Herb and Mark sit back down.}

Les: "Right, so we're out then Herb?"

Herb: "Yes, no more NWA and no more dealing with Paul. You know, IT ALL makes sense now. The contracts, the title matches, the people not being available, strangely making their way to Japan."

Les: "Herb, it can't all be down to..."

Herb: "It was NEVER All Japan was it, huh...WAS IT? It was never a non-NWA promotion contacting our Champions, offering them other deals. No, NO..."

Mark: "Well, he does have a..."

Les: "Doesn't matter, Herb come on let's focus. What does it all mean, where do we go next?"

Herb: "Significant settlement package...I'll take a package AND SETTLE IT up Ellering's fu..."

Les: "HERB!"

Herb: "Okay, okay...right, where are we?

Mark: "Well, the NWA National Heavyweight & NWA Six Man Championships are gone. NWA World Tag, World Junior Heavyweight...some of our belts are free or could be refreshed too."

Les: "Come on Herb, what about Novembrawl?"

Herb: " A TOURNAMENT, UWF Heavyweight championship...I've had a belt sitting in a safe for months now!"

Mark: "Refresh Bobby's belt, call it the UWF Junior Heavyweight."

Les: "Good, excellent, we're getting there. Big Wrestling can carry a Tag Team Tournament, Women's belt back in circulation, SportsChannel Television belt."

Mark: "World League of Wrestling, Division One is all fixed up with Starr, Street, Steiner, Pillman and Williams coming in."

Les: "They've missed four weeks though."

Mark: "Makes them hungry!"

Herb: "Yes, YES, good...HUNGER, desire, championships, PRESTIGE!!!"

Les: "It's all going well, it'll be fine."

Herb: "Yeah, forget Paul, screw the NWA! We'll conquer America, then Japan!"

Les: "What? No, Herb..."

{Mark looks up and notices Dean Malenko and Michael Hayes coming over.}

Mark: "Erm, Herb."

Herb: "Oh, well that'll be my time to leave. See the two of you later on. Oh, hey guys, any issues you can talk to these two. See you all later."

{Herb gets up and walks off, Mark offers Dean and Michael spots at the table.}

Les: "Damn, forgot to ask him about...oh, I'll do it myself.
