Hello new guy here! Mod help

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. Brand new to this. I saw a Youtube video of Vince Russo playing the game. I used to play the old free EWR game. Loved it, possibly even had an addiction to it lol. Enough about me.

The reason for my post is I'm having trouble with Mods. There appears to be so many great ones out there. But I'm not the most tech savvy. I would love some recommendations and possible help from you guys if you don't mind.

I'd love to play a game based on 1993 or even a current game with everything in 2017. My only issues are I don't know where to start. This forum is overwhelming. Shoot, I"m probably posting this in the wrong place, so I apologize if I'm being a newbie and don't know what is doing. But can anyone point me in the right direction? I also am having trouble even installing mods from here. I just downloaded Winzip so I'm ready to go. But I would really, truly appreciate someone dumbing things down for an older guy who doesn't know what to do. Thanks in advance and sorry if I'm breaking any rules.

Much appreciated! Currently having issues downloading the patch. Says my computer can't find the elicen40.dll on my computer. I haven't changed anything yet so I figured it'd be ready to go. Do I need some sort of licensing code to apply when I go further? All I have is my order number.

No need to worry about being new, we all were at one point. Copy (or Cut) this file and go to your TEW2016 folder (normally Program Files \ GDS \ TEW2016). Use Paste to replace your existing copy. TEW2016 must be closed before you do this! If you have done it correctly then you will see the latest date and number in the taskbar when you run the game. Please be careful to note that you are replacing the actual TEW2016.exe file; some players have mistakenly replaced the desktop shortcut, which is a totally different item.

So here's another dumb question. I downloaded WinZip but I'm having trouble unzipping the files, then copying them to the correct destination. Would any of you have the patience to explain to me how to copy this stuff over correctly? Am I not copying it from Winzip the right way? Would love it was simple as copy from the winzip window and pasting it over but I don't have the option to copy it from it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Again, sorry for tying you guys up with such amateur questions. Just excited to get playing again.

Finally got everything! I'm an idiot for the lack of better word. Apologies in advance to everyone for all the newbie questions. I was unzipping the files to my doc folder but didn't even think to check there to find them to copy and paste them over. But everything is taken care of. Thank you all for the help. I truly appreciate it. Hopefully I can return the favor sometime. Thank you Fleisch for making the mod. Looking forward to spending too many hours playing the game.
