Lucha Ref is at 8 when Hopkirk slides in and out to reset the count. This would be a mistake, as Nemesis yelled at Hopkirk to stay in, as that moment of rest for CLM gave the youngster enough time to come back and hit Hopkirk with a huge dropkick sending him into the ring. In contrast to last week, Texas Pete & Doug Peak are nowhere to be seen nor is the eliminated Randall Hopkirk. Black has a microphone and as the fans seem torn whether to cheer for the always pleasing Black or the anti-luchador Nemesis.

“Months of training, day after day running 15 to 20 miles across Los Angeles, forcing ourselves to go further and last week… Well last week we saw a disappointment. Randall Hopkirk decided he was going to take his ball and go home, and in doing so he cost our team, DANGER!, a loss and a chance to win it all. The final four was supposed to be all four of us bringing honor to the greatest wrestler to ever get in the ring, the innovator, the inventor and the master, Nemesis. And Hopkirk went home!”

The crowd begins to boo Black, realizing that Black isn’t just a competitor but embracing the anti-luchador mindset that Nemesis has spouted.

This was simple a dominant affair from Hijo Del Mephisto. While Tricolor Jr. was certainly looking to revive his career in this competition, his coach Luis Montero might have made the wrong choice for Tricolor Jr. has he simply had no shot. For American fans, this was an introduction to the Universal champion and Hijo Del Mephisto did not disappoint. Elaborate entrance, rudo tactics and the smug personality that brought the fans right into the match and in signature Hijo Del Mephisto action, even his ariel moves which impressed fans were followed immediately with something heelish to shock the fans. The Satanic Elbow (top rope elbow drop) was enough to put away Tricolo Jr.

Disturbed vs. Nicolas Lopez

Peter Michaels puts over Lopez’s credentials, including his current reign as the COTT World Champion, something Michaels says that Lopez’s coach Manuel Prieto should take pride in as Lopez is one of the few Mexicans to hold an American world belt in history. Much like Hijo Del Mephisto, this was a match to put over the bigger name but Disturbed was certainly allowed to shine in his one and only match in the competition. Great little spot when Lopez gets an advantage on Disturbed who begs for mercy and Farrah Hesketh calls on Lopez to “stretch the chicken boy.” The ending comes when Disturbed misses a top rope lariat and Lopez is able to turn it around into the Lopez Buster for the win.

Backstage, making his way towards the entry way, is “The Sensational One” Kashmir Singh. The Indian star is covered head to toe in bright colors, feathers, robe. He turns the corner getting ready to get to the entrance ramp when he bumps into Doug Peak and Texas Pete, standing shoulder to shoulder.

Doug Peak growls at Singh, who backs up. However, Pete smiles and moves, sarcastically bowing to Singh who walks by.

Peter Michaels and Farrah Hesketh discuss at full length the intimidation factor of Peak and Pete and both agree that after seeing La Triple Corona and Hijos del Fuego walk away with wins, an 0-2 DANGER! would not be good for the team or for Nemesis. Michaels accuses Nemesis of trying to intimidate Singh and if that was Nemesis’ goal, it worked as anytime Singh gets an advantage, he’s looking over his shoulder giving Black an advantage every single time. With that said, both men certainly put their best efforts in. But Black was faster at every beat, using his agility to stay a step ahead of SIngh every time to the very end, connecting with the Fade to Black on Singh to put away his opponent.

Black is celebrating like he just won the Super Bowl and he needs to know he didn’t do it alone.

I didn’t see Nemesis or anyone else out there! Singh was nervous he was going to get attacked and instead of focusing on Greg Black, he focused on other things.

MICHAELS.
