Top News Headline: New BCW Booker

In the news that has stunned the wrestling industry, BCW last night appointed Cody King as their new head booker. The news proved surprising as Cody King hadn't even been mentioned prior to last night and wasn't even considered a long-shot for the job. He is expected to begin his duties immediately.

Who is Cody King? Cody is a Flabby Light Heavyweight who is an authority figure with outstanding (84) microphone skills. He has been known to grace the announcing table a time or two with some great success.

What is BCW? Bluegrass Championship Wrestling is based out of Louisville, KY and is a “good ole wrasslin” promotion. With a product that is steeped in traditions of Southern wrestling promotions such as Championship Wrestling from Tennessee and the Mississippi Boxing and Wrestling Commission of the 1960's, BCW Is unashamedly traditional, fiercely patriotic and more often than not, an awful lot of fun.

Opened by Kentucky wrestling Legend Virgil Hogg in 2014, BCW was the first purpose-built American Wrestling Council Promotion since the late 1990's and is seen by many as a marker by which to judge the success of the “new” AWC as a whole.

What is “Good Ol' Southern Style?

Will mean wrestlers are rated more on popularity than performance

will make the Puroresu skill less effective

will make the Hardcore skill less effective

will make the Aerial skill less effective

will mean that fans will expect all wrestlers to have a gimmick

will attract fans who will not respond well to subtle gimmicks

will mean each show will need at least 1 match aimed as Story Telling

will attract fans who will be put off by highly risky angles

is very favourable towards getting sponsorship

will allow BCW to not be rocked by wrestling industry changes.

The Owner Virgil Hogg is a true southern wrestling star who was a big name between Texas and Florida during the late 70's & 80's thanks to his work in CWT and the AWC. Never the best in the ring Hogg always knew how to call a great match and his charisma was almost unparalleled. Unfortunately Hogg didn't have the looks or the “it factor” to get over with a mainstream audience.

Now retired, Hogg spent time away from the sport between 1995 and the debut of his eldest son Virgil Jr in 2006. However, Hogg rarely ventured outside of the indy scene until 2014 when he was able to secure funding to open the first purpose-built AWC territory in nearly 20 years when he created BCW.

Why Cody King? BCW has been open 1 month shy of two years and is only the 30th ranked promotion out of 55 with only a prestige of 17 and momentum of 32 currently. Virgil and Cody sat down and had numerous face to face meetings about the direction the company was headed and what can we do to become relevant. After the meetings Virgil was certain he wanted a “No Body” to head up the company and bring new life to the company. Cody is a former football personality and brings the gift of the gab to BCW. Can he turn it around?

Also BCW Is proud to announce the Signing of Brian King who has 7 days remaining on his current contract. Brian is ½ of the current HCG Hollywood Tag Team Champions. Brian King is the Son of Jerry King and brother to BCW General Manager Cody King.
