GCG Returning To Greatness

Part One : A Return To Greatness

It's a chilly winters afternoon In Osaka, snowflakes are gently falling In the garden of Haruki Kudo as he sits in his office tucked away at the far end of the garden behind two bare Japanese maple trees. He Is watching wrestling on the television and taking notes. His dog kenta a majestic red and white Akita lays in his bed across the office sleeping.

Haruki Kudo : It was a good way to end the show and Jimmy deserved his final shot.

He did well.

Kenta opens one eye as if knowing his master must be talking to him but as he see's Haruki is immersed in the television, he lets out a large yawn and proceeds to bury his snout back into his bed.

Haruki : Now here is where we set up the main event for parade of champions.

As Haruki finishes his sentence the door to his office creaks open. Kenta's ears prick up but his eye's stay shut.

Haruki : Hito, you made it. Did my wife not offer you a drink?

Hito Ichihara : Hello Haruki, yes she did. Ryoko has warmed some sake. She said to tell you to come into the house and get it.

Kudo picks up his mobile phone from his desk. he taps away at the screen briefly then places it back down.

Haruki : Now Ichihara-san sit down I have something to speak with you about that I need your advice with.

Hito sits down across the desk from Kudo as the latter pauses the television

hung on the wall.

Haruki : Now Hito this has been my first full calendar year as acting CEO of the company. I want to bring the company back to its former glory and I feel like time is running out. The golden three are aging and without them I fear we will fade into mediocrity. The new generation are fantastic workers but they aren't stars. They wont be able to pull the crowds like Hiroyasu, Toshiharu and Takayuki-san. We need to grow the company before our stars grow old and retire. Just watching the Cox vs Gakusha match back from champion climax made that all the more evident. Jimmy's slowing down and has been for a few years now, If the golden three follow suit I fear we will miss our opportunity to not only thrive but survive.

Hito : Well what do you suggest my friend? we are making money we're doing good business on the doors. I feel that the company is going in the right direction. we have a solid fan base and the guys are working hard, putting on some fantastic matches that even we would be proud of.

Haruki : I suggest we try and broaden our horizons. Reach a new audience.

We need to get back in the public eye. We need a Television deal.

Hito : With all due resect Kudo but I've been trough this once with you before my friend. Remember when you took over and we called all the pay pre view carriers and we where rejected?

Haruki : Ah but I did not say pay pre view I said television.

Hito : That's a big gamble going on weekly TV is going to mean we spend a lot more on wages Kudo. Plus who will give us a deal?

Haruki : Listen I've been planning this for a while and I've done the ground work. The J-network east have said if we improve the look of the product slightly and can up the quality of the broadcast from our DVD standard they can put us on channel three. That's why you're here now, I wanted to ask you if you have any of your old Inspire connections in the broadcast game? That's really all we need to make this deal happen and no not weekly TV, They will just show our events.

Hito : hhmmmm I need some time to think but I'm sure that shouldn't be a problem. In fact there is one guy who I heard is living down on the coast in Wakayama. I'll make a few calls.

As Hito reaches in his inside suit pocket for his phone Kudo's phone vibrates on his desk. Kudo picks it up and reads something off it then puts it in his pocket.

Haruki : Come Hito let us go inside and we can drink some sake and discuss matters further.

The two leave the office followed by Kenta. Haruki has his arm around Hito's shoulder and neck and is leaning into him as if telling him a secret as the pair slowly stroll up the garden path to house.

Later that evening and after a few sake's have been put away we join Kudo and Ichihara inside the house along with Ryoko Kudo who is watching television and Kenta who is curled up in front of the open fire. The pair are discussing something.

Hito : I really think you should look at him Kudo. He looks like a star. His style is influenced by MMA and I really think he could be one for the future.

Haruki : twenty you say? How much would you say he weighs? If you had to guess.

Hito : eeemmmm between eighty-five and ninety kilo's.

Haruki : Seems too small, we need potential main event stars not midcard acts. Anyway enough speculation lets focus on what we do have. I suggest we go through the current roster and see what we do have at our disposal for this upcoming year.

Hiroyasu Gakusha

Age 36 (18 Year Pro)

Finish : Gakusha Golden Bomb (Tiger Bomb)

Secondary Finish : Roaring Gakusha Strike (Spinning Elbow)

Further Arsenal : Gakusha likes to use a plethora of Suplex variations to ware down his opponents. Hiroyasu is no stranger to the mat and has used the STF to win matches in the past although he is stronger on his feet and uses a sharp elbow that has become known as the Gakusha strike. The Gakusha strike has a variation called the plunge Gakusha strike which is a suicide pluncha to the outside through the middle rope and connecting with the elbow.

Haruki : Let us start with our current champion Hiroyasu. He's our figurehead and I don't see that changing as long as he keeps preforming to his own exceptionally high standards of work.

Hito : I agree he needs to be kept strong and at the very top of the card for the whole year and most likely beyond.

Jimmy Cox

Age 43 (25 Year Pro)

Finish : Immortal Driver (Cradle Piledriver)

Secondary finish : Single Leg Boston Crab

Further Arsenal : Jimmy can mix strikes, holds and throws well. decent on the mat but don't expect to see him fly often if at all.

Hito : I've always liked Jimmy's work and he's always struck me as a humble man who is willing to learn.

Haruki : I too enjoy Jimmy's work but I think it's time we moved him down the card. His match last month against Hiroyasu was more of a thank you for all his fantastic work than it was to make him look like a threat to the title. It pains me to say that I fear that will be his last world title shot.

SUKI

Age 29 (11 Year Pro)

Finish : SUKI Special III (Seated Front Choke Sleep)

Secondary Finish : Mountain SUKI (High Elevation Top Rope Knee Drop)

Further Arsenal : SUKI Is a master technician who can transition from move to move with ease. A Submission specialist who's special sleepers have evolved from a cobra clutch (I) to a sleeper with a bodylock (II) to the dreaded seated front choke sleeper (III) which has never been escaped once fully locked in. SUKI Is the epitome of an all rounder mixing chops, punches, kicks, slams and aerial manoeuvres.

Haruki : SUKI Is someone I would like to build up to figurehead the company someday. he's skilled beyond his years and has some real charisma which seems to draw the audience into his matches.

Hito : I agree with you he is very charismatic and a fine wrestler but one thing I struggle with getting across to him is the phycology of a match. he's not far off getting it but if he doesn't improve this year I would have my doubts about putting him in a position as important as our ace.

Takayuki 2000

age 37 (16 Year Pro)

Finish : Persian Deathlock (Elevated Leg Lock)

Secondary Finishes : Takayuki Air Attack (Flying Knee From The Second Buckle)

Takayuki Bomb Attack (Flying Double Knee Drop To The Opponents Stomach)

Third Degree Burn (Release Greman Suplex)

Further Arsenal : As you may have guessed Takayuki 2000 is a master of the knee strike. Great striker and can fly. Not the best on the mat and prefers to soften his rivals with a suplex or Takayuki strike but can still roll if forced to.

Haruki The second off the golden three we've looked at so far, he's charismatic and has a decent gas tank. It also helps that he looks like a star. without doubt is capable of holding the world title once more, would you agree Hito?

Hito Yes without doubt. Takayuki Is a fabulous worker I would have no objections with him holding the main title.

Toshiharu Hyobanshi

Age 38 (17 Year Pro)

Finish : Nova Bomb Redux (Sit-out Suplex Crush)

Secondary Finish : Nova Bomb (Spinning Back Suplex Bomb)

Further Arsenal : Hyobanshi is a big explosive hard hitter. you wont see him fly or exchanging wristlocks if he can avoid the situation. What you will see is Nova strikes (Mongolian chops) and Nova bursts (Quick short ranged spears) which can change the complexation of a match in his favour in the blink of an eye. Big strong hard hitting battles are what to expect when watching a Hyobanshi match.

Hito : I love this guy. The protégé of the great Kazu Yoshizawa. A Puroresu great. Big, hard hitting and looks like a star. Great backstage and very social and approachable for the staff and the young lions. Top tire talent and should be treated as such.

Haruki I completely agree with all that you've said Hito. I see no reason why he shouldn't chase the world title this year at some point.

Kiminobu Kuroki

Age 36 (18 Year Pro)

Finish : Mercury Sleeper (Inverted Sleeper/Chicken Wing Combo)

Secondary Finish : Kuroki Krush (Delayed Dangerous Brainbuster)

Further Arsenal : A mixed offence which mainly consists of strikes, throws and some crisp mat work.

Hito : I like Kiminobu. he's nice to watch in the ring not amazing at any one thing but can do the lot I think he should be in and around the world title scene.

Hakuri : Well my friend this one has us divided. He has been a pain to deal with this past year and I don't see that changing. He is selfish and a master manipulator and that's not someone I want at the top of my cards. I would always fear asking him to do the job if his popularity gets to his ego. A nice safe gatekeeper to the main event is where I want him if I can get him to stay there. I hope his attitude improves over the year but I wouldn't want to put a wager on it.

Mabuchi Furusawa

Age 29 (8 Year Pro)

Finish : Furusawa Armbar

Secondary Finish : Furusawa Exploder 15

Further Arsenal : Furusawa like to use the open palm strike and is a keen mat technician. Mabuchi likes to soften up the arms of his opponents and has recently added a version of his fathers exploder suplex where he grabs his adversaries wrist and snaps them over in a quick and vicious manor.

Haruki I look at Mabuchi as our great hope for the next generation along side SUKI. He is currently in a team with Shingen Miyazaki and they are our tag team champions. I can see Furusawa moving up the card as the year progresses.

Hito I would like to also point out his fantastic resilience and the fact he has been pretty much injury free during my time with you at GCG. A handy attribute to possess if we lose others around him.

Part Two : The Undercard

As the evening turns into night at the Kudo residence we re-join Haruki Kudo CEO of Golden Canvas Grappling along with head road agent and Kudo's right hand man Hito Ichinara doing what they love best, talking about wrestling. It's clear to hear from the passionate way they speak about the subject they miss being in the ring and preforming for an audience. The pair are still enjoying the last of the rice wine. Haruki's wife Ryoko is now reading a book, possible because the television was becoming harder to hear as her husband and his colleague become ever louder the merrier they become from the sake, while Kenta, the family dog has not moved from his spot in front of the fire.

Haruki : What a match that was. I always enjoyed watching your matches Hito. I don't have regrets from my career but I do sometimes wonder what I could have done if I had gone to PGHW after my time in Canada with the stones. I think we could have created some magic you and I.

Hito : That's very kind my friend but you would have never had the great matches you had in burning hammer. The whole scene would look different now. Think about it, you practically made Kikkawa. I know beating Sam was what made him a big star but if he didn't have his rivalry with you he may have never became the national icon he is today. You made him look amazing during those years.

Ryoko Kudo : Husband, Ichinara-san, I'll leave the pair of you to reminisce and praise one and other in piece. I'm going to bed now. Hito would you like me to make up the spare bed for you? I fear you've had to much sake to drive now and the snow is getting heavier.

Hito : Yes Ryo that would be a good idea. I've been so caught up in our discussion that I had completely forgot I had to go home at some point.

Kudo : Could you leave out a pair of my pyjamas for Hito please my dear.

Ryoko : Of course. Goodnight boys and Haruki please remember my sister is coming for dinner tomorrow.

Ryoko glares over at the bottle of wine with a somewhat tongue in cheek smile on her face and turns to leave the room.

The dog jumps up. has a stretch and follows Ryoko to the bedroom.

Haruki Goodnight sweetheart.

Haruki Now where was we. Ah yes Kikkawa that boy could throw a lariat. I remember him almost taking my head off with one in front of 50,000 people in the Toyota stadium. I didn't think I would get back up.

Hito : Speaking of lariats. Shall we get back on topic? We need to go through the rest of our roster for the up coming year and as we are on the topic of Lariats, why not speak of the man who delivers the meanest looking lariat in GCG.

Haruki Speaking of Shotaro how funny is it when Yas says that thing to him? You know that rhyme he made up?

Hito What? Old, old and covered in mould?

Kudo spits his wine out as he clearly took a sip at the wrong time. He then lets out a loud laugh.

Haruki Yes that's the one. it winds Shotaro up so much. His face when Yas say's it is priceless.

Haruki That brings us to Shotaro. What more can I say but thank you for all your great work over the years but please take the hint and retire. I speak with him often on the subject but he just dismisses me and changes the topic. He's been gradually getting worse to watch in the ring over the past decade and I just want him to say okay I'm retiring. I'll put him in a big match to say thank you and goodbye. He really doesn't bring anything to the product anymore other than nostalgia.

Hito He's a good guy, just not a good worker anymore unfortunately.

Finish : Hurricane Harumi (face Crusher After Bouncing Off The Second Buckle)

Hito Harumi is a good submission wrestler with a over finisher and even at 41 years old has some mileage. I would pair him up with a young lion to pass on his knowledge or have him fight for the openweight title.

Haruki I would like to see if we could better that and turn him in to a viable threat to the world title. I guess we'll have to wait and see if he keeps improving in the ring or not. If not a tag team with one of the younger guys is a good idea.

Hito : Speaking of the tag ranks Shingen, the other half of the tag team champions is a fantastic guy to work with. He has a natural grasp of in ring phycology and is brilliant in the ring in my opinion.

Hakuri : He is a nice guy and good in the ring but I feel his lack of charisma and star power may hold him down in the midcard.

Haruki : Namboku Makuda is someone I can get behind. He has a tenacity that draws me into his matches and makes them seem exciting.

Hito Yes the pit-bull has those attributes and I can also see him moving on to bigger and brighter things once he moves away from the openweight title that he currently possesses.

Hito : Eagle is in my eyes the perfect all rounder, capable of putting on a high standard of matches with almost any opponent.

Haruki : I have to agree with you once more. Eagle has the ability to put on fine matches and he is another who could work with Hiroyasu if he has a successful start to the year.

Hito : Not much to say about Sozen. I can't see him doing much this year other than being given ring time to improve his skills.

Haruki Yes he is still a little green but I can see a future in the company for him. He has his size on his side if nothing else.

Hakuri : Greg Is someone who I put on the same level as SUKI and Mabuchi in being someone who can take over when we lose the golden three. My biggest concern is keeping him. Burning Hammer, TCW & Jeremy Stone are all long time admirers and Nobuatsu Tatsuko has contacted me about taking him on their next tour. I feel as though making plans for him is a risk as he will most likely out grow us and have left by this time next year.

Hito : I understand your concerns Hakuri but I feel we should showcase his undeniable talents as long as we have them at our disposal. He could help us reach out to not only a younger but also a western audience.

Age 40 (22 Year Pro)

Hakuri : Dean has been pairing with Greg successfully for some time but I feel he has taught him the Japanese style now and he offers little more to Greg's development at this stage. My other gripe is he has the same finish as Jimmy. I know he started using it in WLW to pay homage to the conquering gaijin but I've never been someone who cares for two or more workers in the same company sharing a finish.

Hito : I would suggest maybe asking him to change it or simply not have him take many if any falls. I feel at his current age and with his subpar skillset maybe we should be looking to end his run with us when his contract comes up renewal.

Hakuri : Rhino is in a good solid tag team and is a good solid tag team worker. His team with Samoan Machine is a staple of our midcard act.

Hito : Agreed, Tag team worker this year and hunting for the titles.

Hito This is a guy I know well from my time in Inspire. A fantastic brawler with a puro base. He has a good look and decent understanding of the basics, not to mention he's as tough as nails.

Haruri I think he's a massive influence on the guy's backstage and a great example to the younger boys. The main stumbling block for me is how similar his finishing gimmick is to SUKI's who is in a far more important position on the card.

Hito : Well I disagree with you there Kudo-san. SUKI has always brought back a new version of his dreaded sleeper every time it has been broken and will no doubt debut the SUKI special IV when someone finally breaks free of III. Machine's has and should never in my opinion be broken. Although quite similar I feel the stories behind them are unique enough to give them their own identity and charm.

Hito : Urogataya is quite promising and could be turned into a reliable midcard mainstay.

Haruki : I need to see more of him. This year will give me a glance into the bigger picture as far as this young mans GCG career and how it may pan out.

Hito : While bland I feel Azu has a big part to play in our future. Being with us from his debut over two years ago he has been the model professional and makes the dressing room a better place to be with his friendly personality. Haruki I put it to you that we speak with Azu and tell him we have long term plans for him. I feel this may gain us his trust and loyalty to the promotion. The reason I say this is we have very few undercard works who are loyal to us and with Burning Hammer recruiting so heavily over the past few years I feel losing someone like Azu although not a devastating blow to the company it would be a blow all the same.

Haruki : That's something I'll sleep on Hito.

Age 41 (23 Year Pro)

Haruki : Barry is a reliable midcard worker although he is becoming a little miserable as he ages. His mood may have got worse with age but his ring work has not suffered, that paired with the respect he has backstage is enough for me to leave him in his spot for the rest of the year.

Hito : Yes indeed Barry has an important roll making the others look better and he plays that roll with style.

Hito : Not much to say about Lion. I see this year being much like last, with most of it spent on his back staring at the lights.

Haruki : Lion is a nice kid but is still learning his trade.

Haruki Very good skill set for his years but that's not enough to get me emotionally invested in his work.

Hito I see him much like Azu but with maybe a little less upside. He too I feel could become loyal to us if we show faith in him now.

Haruki : I've already spoke of the finisher problem before but I still like Mas and I still feel he can move up the card.

Hito : I feel like we should cut our losses and call him a project failed but if you still want to try with him I'm happy to work with him, one thing I've always liked about Mas is his willingness to listen and learn. we'll just have to see how the year pans out for him.

Haruki Yawns and stretches his arms out above his head.

Hito : Am I Keeping you up Haruki?

Haruki I am tired but before I retire to bed there is one last thing I need to talk to you about. As you know I've had my hands full with running the company, commentating and booking the shows for the past year plus. I feel as though Its all becoming a little too much and Ryoko has pointed out I'm a little stressed lately. That's why I need to ask you....

Hito realising the importance of the conversation and the fact both men are intoxicated he decides to interrupt.

Hito : Listen friend this sounds like its a lot to digested and is something rather important. I don't mean to be rude but perhaps this is a conversation for clear heads. Shall we just call it a night and finish this tomorrow?

Haruki : You are right Hito we have spoke about work for hours now, lets get some rest and we can be more productive once we are sober and refreshed. Come on I'll show you to your room.

Haruki flicks off the lamp behind his chair and leads Hito down the hallway to the spare bedroom.

The assault by Jimmy Cox on the left leg of the champion has been nothing short of criminal. Haruki Kudo : Totally agree Mas this has been one of the most vicious displays from Jimmy Cox I've ever seen. You have to feel it's as though he knows this may be his last chance at this level. Jimmy Cox has a battered and bruised Hiroyasu Gakusha backed into the corner. Gakusha left leg is draped over the middle rope and Cox is volleying his thigh with stiff kicks, the noise when they connect echo's around the Osaka stadium as a near silent audience looks on in a state of shock. Hori : I don't remember the last time Gakusha has been in this much trouble Haruki. It feels like it's been more or less all Cox for the past ten minutes. Cox lifts Gakusha above his head while holding onto his leg and he drives Gakusha's shin down into his own knee. Gakusha crashes to the mat back first but Cox holds on to the ankle and manages with a degree of easy to turn his opponent over into his signature single leg crab. Hori : This is it, surely after all the abuse Gakusha has taken to that Knee we will see a new champion crowned shortly. Gakusha screams in agony as he claws his way to the bottom rope. Cox holds on until Koruba reaches a four count then releases the hold and collapse to the mat obviously exhausted from exerting so much energy trying to put the champ down. Koruba checks on both men and starts to count to 10. upon reaching eight Cox is on his feet and slightly shaken but compared to Gakusha looks daisy fresh. The champion, still only on one knee at this point try's with all he has left to pull himself up via the aid of the top rope. When Cox reaches Gakusha he is met with a ferocious looking elbow to the stomach which sends Cox reeling backwards if only for a second. Cox apporches again. Another sickening elbow lands from the champ followed by another and another. This gives Gakusha the separation he needs to pull himself to his feet. When a more weary looking Cox advances this time the champ catches him with a powerful but desperate looking Roaring Gakusha Strike. Both men collapse to the mat. Hori : Can you believe the fight that our champion is showing here? Kudo : I can, he displays this kind of courage every time he steps in the ring. I just wonder If Jimmy Cox doesn't regret not attempting the Immortal driver when he had the champion In trouble. Hori : I'm sure we're about to find out soon. Gakusha crawls away to the corner in the opposite direction to Cox. The champion drags his torso up the turnbuckles and when upright he slouches in the corner to catch his breath. Cox finds his feet but doesn't seem to know where he is. Cox finally sets his sights on Gakusha after seemingly looking lost he stumbles towards the champ once more. Kudo : ROARING GAKUSHA STRIKE!!! This time the blow is a glancing one but enough to put the challenger down to one knee. Hori : GAKUSHA GOLDEN BOMB!!! Gakusha collapse backwards instead off landing in a pinning position. slowly Gakusha manages to roll over and crawl towards the challenger. he finally reaches Cox and finds the strength to sling his right arm over Jimmy's chest. 1 2 Kudo : Unbelievably the challenger has kicked out. Hori : I'm at a loss for words. The champion is the first to his feet. Cox is in trouble. He's up shortly after the champ but clearly has no idea he's still in a match, his eyes glazed over arms by his sides. He looks to be on auto pilot. Gakusha zero's in on his target, he moves toward Cox still massively favouring his left leg. Cox still doesn't seem to be aware of Gakusha's presence. Hori : Kick to the gut by Gakusha, GOLDEN GAKUSHA BOMB This time Gakusha lands in the seated pinning position. 1 2 3 Kudo : Gakuhsa has done it. What a disply of guts and will from our champion Hori : I'm still in shock. Let me ask you Kudo, how many men have you seen kick out from the golden Gakusha bomb? Kudo : You can count them on one hand Mas. As the bell rings Gakusha collapse to his back. Both men lay almost motionless, if not for the champion grabbing at his left knee you would think both men where asleep or worse dead. As the ring fills with body's the two men eventually find their feet to a rapturous applause. As we get the announcement Your winner in 23:37 making defence number one of his GCG World heavyweight championship, Hiroyasu Gakusha Kudo has left the commentary table and is in the ring, world title in hand which he promptly hands to Gakusha to yet another loud cheer. A microphone is handed to the champ. Hiroyasu Gakusha : Jimmy is one of my toughest opponents I've faced in my career and tonight was no exception. The fan applaud as Jimmy walks over to Hiroyasu and shakes his hand. Gakusha : Since beating Takayuki at PRIDE back in October I have had a lot of time to think about my career and the path I have taken and what I want to achieve in the future. I've had time to think about what I want to be known as and that is the greatest champion of all time. To be the greatest champion of all time you have to face your demons and there is one demon that haunts me to this day. There is one man I have pinned only once and that was eleven years ago. He was the last man to beat me for this belt and not only does he deserve a shot to do that again, I also deserve a shot at redemption. So Tashiharu Hyobanshi, I challenge you to a match at Champions Parade. For you a chance to regain the World title and for me a chance to finally exercise my demons. The camera cuts to the crowd where Toshiharu Hyobanshi who is watching on in a sweaty GCG t-shirt, He doesn't look to have even showered from his earlier match. he stands up and slowly nods his head in approval. As Gakusha's music blares we cut back to ring side where a battered but triumphant Gakusha hobbles down the walkway as we fade to black. </div></blockquote> Hito : Good morning Haruki, what are you watching? Haruki : Morning my friend. I just watched champion climax again. Did you sleep well? Hito : It was a fantastic show. Not bad. I feel a little worse for wear this morning. How about you Kudo? Is the head okay? Haruki : Yes fine, I've been up for a while and had plenty of green tea, also I think I have the card for art of war. Hito : Kudo before you talk me through the card I was wondering if we should finish our conversation from last night. Haruki : Sorry I don't recall I was slightly on my way to being drunk by the time we went to bed Hito. Hito : Oh I see I thought at the time it sounded important. you was saying the extra pressure of booking the shows. Kudo still looks bemused. Hito : booking the shows and being on commentary. Haruki : Ah yes. Kudo reaches for the remote control for the television. He pops it on and goes to a streaming site. Kudo : Welcome everyone, Please be seated. I have called you all in today for a couple of reasons.

Firstly I would like to introduce our newest member of staff.

Naizen Uboshita.

Everyone in the room welcomes the newcomer as Naizen respectfully bows his head in appreciation.

Kudo : Naizen will be joining myself and Mas on the commentary table for tonight's show.

Naizen was recommended to me by my old friend Fumihiko Uno. Fumihiko and I worked together in burning hammer and go back as far as my debut. He's been running a small independent show down south and had Naizen call the matches on last months show. Uno sent me a video and I was very impressed with Naizen's Knowledge and the way got the guys over. There are three main reasons why I decided to bring him in.

Firstly, Myself and Mas, as you all know are not getting any younger. We can't do this forever. We need to start thinking of the future and that will mean at some point a new broadcast team.

Secondly, I have decide to focus on the day to day running of the promotion and booking the shows. I will stay on the table for shows until Naizen is comfortable and has learned his trade. This will be a gradual thing but I will be stepping away from the roll over time.

And lastly but not least. Some of you may have noticed the extra cameramen and production crew setting up out there. There is a very good reason for that and young Naizen ties into that too. Hito and I have been working tirelessly these past few weeks to get us a television deal with the J network. They will be showing our events starting from today on channel three. This is the start of a brave new era for the company. I wanted to mark the start of that era with a fresh voice, a young voice and Naizen fits that profile.

Any Questions?

Hori : Are you looking for my replacement also Kudo-san? This is quite a lot to take in. I was not prepared to be on live television let alone working with someone new. Then there's the news I may be getting replaced.

Kudo : Mas I understand your shock. I just thought it best I announced this news to you all at once and getting the deal in place for the show was very last minute. Yes, I am looking for your replacement but you have no worriers about your job. When I step down there will be one extra space at the announce table and you will give up your place as and when you see fit. You have a job here for as long as you want and you have my word of that my friend.

Hori : Thank you Kudo and my apologies to you Naizen if I offended you in any way.

Naizen : No need I assure you no offence was taken.

Kudo : If there are no more questions I suggest we take a quick look at our current title holders to get an idea of the direction we will be going in this year.

Hori : That is fair to say as tonight we watch as one of the most famous rivalries in the sport of puroresu is reignited. Tonight in our main event we will possibly get a glimpse into the outcome of next months massive world title match Between champion Hiroyasu Gakusha and challenger Toshiharu Hyobanshi, as they stand in opposite corners of the ring alongside partners Kiminobu Kuroki and Namboku Makuda respectively. Kudo : Indeed Mas, I'm sure that the result of that match will give the victor the psychological edge going into parade of champions but we have a match about to start in the ring so lets enjoy that. The match kicks us off at a bright pace as Urogataya and Samoan Machine exchange wrestling hold and there escapes. The Samoans look especially hungry after suffering a defeat last month to champions Furusawa and Miyazaki they need to re-establish themselves amongst the other teams hunting for the gold. After Urogataya gets the better of the more experienced Machine the Samoans change their game plan and Rhino is introduced into the match. He soon uses his size and power advantage to turn the tide of the match forcing Urogataya to tag in his inexperienced partner Kikuchi. Kikuchi lands some nice shots to Umaga but his naivety shows as he grows over confident and gets levelled by a big short lariat. This allows Rhino to tag his partner back in who wastes no time in attacking the wounded young lion. After some stiff chops and a German suplex, Machine locks in the Unbreakable sleeper. Urogataya, aware of the danger starts to enter the ring through the middle rope but Umaga is one step ahead, you would have to assume after spending years teaming with his partner he knows him well enough to see him going for the kill and is already in the ring. Rhino charges across the ring and meets Urogataya with a stiff front kick to the kidney and before he's even able to enter the ring Urogataya is sent back through the ropes as Kikuchi has no choice but to tap out before he goes to sleep. Both Samoans seemed off their games a little tonight. Maybe because they where jerking the curtain? Maybe because they had their big match last month? Either way the match didn't seem to suffer and the young guys kept up with their more experienced foes. I was very impressed with the performance of Kikuchi and this match served its purpose, it got the crowd warmed up and gave the Samoans some momentum. job done. Samoan Destruction Inc. showing how important their years of experience where with that victory as the young duo of Kikuchi and Urogataya put in a gutsy performance and defiantly look to both have bright futures here in GCG. They both take turns running the ropes with Eagle coming out on top, hitting a nice hurricarana. The move sends Miyazaki flying into the direction of his corner and he makes the tag to SUKI. It's not long before SUKI slow's the pace back down and starts to control the match, even Kawasawa tagging out to Shimizu doesn't seem to shift the momentum as SUKI still shows his dominance. Once Shimizu is isolated and worn down enough Kingman is brought into the fray to work over the young lion. Kingman, Miyazaki and SUKI share a succession of quick tags and have Shimizu in trouble, having to be saved by his partners form various pin attempts. Shimizu does manage to mount a comeback gets the better of an exchange of forearms with Kingman, Shimizu hits the veteran with a overhead belly to belly suplex and crawls to his corner to tag in Okazawaya. The match is a more even affair now with the offence being shared by both teams in a back and forth fashion until Okazawaya hits Miyazaki with a beautiful looking Hurricane Harumi. Okazawaya looks to have the match won as he covers Miyazaki and most likely would have got the win if not for a desperate diving save by Kingman. this sparks a mass brawl to the outside but not after Okazazwaya and Miyazaki manage to make tags to Shimizu and SUKI respectively. It isn't long before SUKI has control over his far more wounded and far less experienced foe and locks in the SUKI special III causing referee Koruba to call for the bell almost instantly as he notices Shimzu is out cold and doesn't want him to sustain any lasting injury's from the hold. Takayuki decides to implement his strong striking game but that also is out matched by the 6,7, 330lb mountain that is Sozen Ishinomori. The ever resourceful Takayuki changes game plan again and switches to a far quicker style. Using the ropes and top turnbuckle to gain an advantage, Takayuki gets Ishinomori to his knees and proceeds to chop him down with kicks and knee strikes until he can go for a cover, but Sozen kicks out with authority signalling it will take much more to put him away. The tide changes when Takayuki goes to the second rope, sensing the end is in sight 2000 leaps at Sozen with a Takayuki air strike but Ishinomori counters with a leaping lariat that sends Takayuki spinning 360 degrees before crashing to the mat. Sozen then shows his dominance with a variety of suplexes before lifting Takayuki up for his signature Ishinomori bomb. 2000 is able to counter though with a series of knees to this opponents chest and jaw whilst he is lifted up above Sozen's head. Ishinomori is stunned and Takayuki takes advantage of this situation. The formed world champion pulls down his knee pad meaning only one thing, the end is nye as he ascends to the second buckle and floors Sozen with a Takayuki air strike before finishing the match with a Takayuki bomb attack to pick up the win. The fans where sucked into this and it generated some great heat by the closing stages. Takayuki was the stand out performer, which should come as no surprise. What did surprise me was the great chemistry the two seemed to share. Which really got me emotionally invested in this match but more importantly the paying public too. Great stuff. Rating C+ </div></blockquote> Hori : Fantastic stuff from the former world champion. He must have sent a message to Gakusha with that victory. Kudo : Indeed he must. Gakusha would be wise to be keeping an eye on Takayuki. Uboshita : Not to disagree but Ishinomori dropped the ball in my opinion. He should have softened Takayuki up more when he was on top before attempting the Ishinomori bomb. If he had I feel maybe we would be singing to a different tune. It's mistakes like that the monster must iron out of his game as he matures in the ring. Daniels and Ikina started us off with some nice mat work as they jostled for an advantage early on. When Greg Gauge entered the ring that advantage seemed to swing in his teams favour. Gauge simply out classed his far older opponent and was one step ahead on every exchange. This lead to Tayama being introduced, the big bruiser made it hard for Gauge and Daniels to keep the match a technical affair as the two took turns in trying to soften the big man up. Tayama was able to draw Daniels into a striking game which Tayama won with ease. Once firmly in control Tayama tagged out to catch his breath as the 32 year veteran Ikina stretched Daniels for a large portion of the match. Daniels showed some guts along with some fine counter wrestling as he reversed an armbar by Ikina into a pin attempt. As Ikina kicked out, the space created between himself and Daniels aloud Dean to transition into a waistlock followed by a headlock before applying an reverse armbar of his own. Tayama had seen enough and interfered by entering the ring and stapping on the back of Daniels head leaving both men down. As the match went on all four men started to use far more suplexes and slams but whoever was paired against Tayama was always at a disadvantage. The bulky heavyweight almost ended the match by hitting Daniels with a lariat but with a tired Ikina laying atop the apron, Gauge was able to come in and break the referees count by kicking Tayama off. Gauge looked to take advantage of his earlier work, after receiving a tag from his partner, Gauge got to work on the still downed Tayama. After a string of failed submission attempts by Gauge, Tayama seemingly having enough of playing games fights to his feet and catches Gauge with some stiff forearms to the face. Greg scrambles to his corner and tags out. Daniels is met by a similar assault. Tayama hits Dean with a barrage of forearms, stunning him enough to hit a backdrop driver. Instead of going for the cover Tayama hits Gauge with a yakuza kick sending him crashing off the apron and into the guard rail below. This allowed Tayama to hit a second backdrop driver and pick up a hard fought win. It was hurt by Ikina who really struggled to keep up with the others and looked like the weak link. I'm not sure what to do with him as I fear limiting his involvement in tag matches may only hurt his matches more in the long run. Gauge and Tayama where the stand outs in this match and their moments together in the ring where the light breaking through the clouds on a mostly dreary affair. Rating C </div></blockquote> Kudo : Great showing by Tayama and Ikina as they zero in on Furusawa and Miyazaki and also becoming the first five time GCG world heavyweight tag team champions Uboshita : I can't agree with you once more. Tayama looks to have strained his back after carrying Ikina through that match and a team as well oiled and physically dominate as Furusawa and Miyazaki will pick of Ikina much the way a pride of lions pick off the weakest gazelle. It would take another amazing performance Tayama, not to mention some degree of luck for these two to wrestle away the tag titles from the champions. For Jimmy a chance to climb the ladder once more towards the world heavyweight title picture. Jimmy, fresh off his defeat to champion Gakusha last month, knows age is not on his side and a loss here would pretty much signal the end of his main event run and extinguish any hope he had of becoming a two time GCG world heavyweight champion. For Furusawa, the chance to break into the main event scene and be viewed as a viable threat to the champion. Both men look understandably tense as they stare across the ring at each other while they are introduced and the fans show their appreciation with cheers and streamers as each warriors name is called out. As soon as the bell rings both Cox and Furusawa start to circle one and other trying to take control of the centre of the ring while also showing the other man a great deal of respect. The first engagement is a good old fashion test of strength with both men gaining an advantage during the encounter. When the momentum starts to shift in Cox favour, Furusawa drops to one knee swiftly, managing to break Jimmy's grip he shoots in and picks a leg sending Jimmy back first to the mat. This gives Furusawa an early edge as he holds on to the limb looking to apply a leg grapevine, but Jimmy, no slouch manages to turn on to his stomach, breaking the hold and is subsequently able to scramble back to his feet. The match continued in much the same vain. A cagey process of feeling each other out and not wanting to be the one to make the first mistake until Furusawa backed Cox into a corner from a collar and elbow tie up. When made to break the hold and both men had let go of the other, Furusawa hit Jimmy with a Knife edge chop that not only took the wind out of the gaijin but angered him into changing his early game plan. Now we had a fight on our hands as both men exchanged blows. Forearms, chops and kicks where hitting there targets hard and often. The match spilled to the outside after Furusawa took one forearm to the jaw too many and stumbled backwards and out the ring via the middle rope. Jimmy pursued Furusawa and stalked him around the ring. Upon catching up with Furusawa, Jimmy sent him into the guard rail with an Irish whip, a whip so hard Jimmy's momentum sent him flying sternum first down to the concrete floor. Cox wasn't finished there as he pull Furusawa off the rail and pushed his head down between his leg's. This got the biggest reaction of the night thus far as the fans gasp and jump to their feet in anticipation. Jimmy grabs Furusawa by the waist and try's to hoist his legs up in the air. Furusawa only comes off the ground for a second and upon his feet being reacquainted with the floor, Furusawa attempts a back body drop. Jimmy now has his feet off the ground but is pushing against the lift with all his might and manages to not only block the move, but his momentum from regaining his footing has caused Furusawa to flip upside down. Cox reaches through Furusawa's legs withn his right hand and......... Hori : IMMORTAL DRIVER!!!!! Hori : Immortal driver by Cox on Furusawa on the floor. well.. I... I... I can't believe what my eyes are telling my brain. Uboshita : That was insane. Kudo-san have you ever..... Kudo No Naizen I can't say I can ever recall Cox hitting that move on the concrete floor like that. The match must be stopped. Referee Koruba needs to regain some control. Jimmy Cox not content starts to stamp on the head of Furusawa with referee Koruba screaming at him to stop and get back in the ring or be disqualified. This sort of behaviour would normally be disapproved of by the crowd and by a gaijin no less, but Cox is well loved in the orient and the fans neither cheer or boo but just look on in shock. Cox still with the same wild look in his eye that he had the moment Furusawa hit him while they broke in the corner finally listens to Koruba and rolls back into the ring. The ref starts his count as Jimmy relaxes with his arms up on the ropes in the far corner. As Kuroba reaches 16 Furusawa starts to stir. 17 Furusawa blinks, in one of the first indications that we know he is actually still amongst the living. He then lifts one arm straight up in front of himself. 18 Now furusawa has managed to roll to his chest. There is a big mass of snot and dribble running down his face as he makes a desperate attempt to grab the apron, much to the pleasure of the audience who want to not only see more action but also want to see if a fan favourite of sorts is okay. 19 Furusawa gets one leg on the ring apron and throws himself back into the squared circle just before the ref counted twenty. Jimmy Cox wastes no time at all getting back on the attack. Cox continues to stamp on Furusawa's head while the referee pleads with him to stop as to let him check over Furusawa and make sure he is fit to continue. Cox is having none of it. He's far too long in the tooth to let an opportunity like this slip away from him, especially in the twilight of his career. Cox hoists Furusawa to his feet and delivers a big release German suplex on the near lifeless Furusawa and crawls over to make the cover, pushing Furusawa's legs up over his shoulders and pushing his chest down on Furusawas's buttocks for extra leverage. A clearly uncomfortable Koruba makes the count. 1 2 Hori : He kicked out. unbelievably Furusawa kicks out as an astonished Jimmy Cox places his head in his hands for a moment. Cox goes for the same cover again but see's the same result. Cox signals for the Immortal Driver whilst pulling a battered Furusawa to his knees and placing his head between his thighs. This time though Furusawa is able to reverse with a back body drop and catch his breath. Cox more angry than injured steams at Furusawa once more but..... Kudo : Furusawa Exploder 15!! This just buys Furusawa some rest bite as he is unable to capitalise on his floored foe. Remarkably Cox is first to his feet and when the two exhausted warriors meet in the middle of the ring next it's Cox who hits an exploder of his own. Instead of going straight for the pin, Jimmy smells blood and drags Furusawa back to the centre of the ring and goes for the immortal driver once more. This time Furusawa offers little resistance as his legs swing up over Jimmy's head, but wait just one leg is over his head as the other is around his torso. Hori : FURUSAWA ARMBAR!!! Cox is caught in a Furusawa armbar, bang in the centre of the ring. Jimmy still on his feet is desperately grabbing on to the trapped limb but Furusawa is relentless is his efforts to make the arm his. Jimmy is forced to surrender the limb and drops to his back with a look of deflation mixed with that of pain across his face. He soon kicks in to a state of desperation as that deflation turns to determination and he claws and scratches his way to the bottom rope. Furusawa is forced to break the hold which he doesn't let go of until the very last second. Both men are now in bad shape and both completely exhausted. The fans are reaching fever pitch as they will both men to their feet. Furusawa is first to his feet, Maybe for the first time in the match. Furusawa then sets up Cox for what he hopes will be one last exploder. As Furusawa try's to grab the wrist of Jimmys injured left arm cox is grabbing it with his right in a desperate attempt to block his fate. Cox decides to let go of his left arm and use his right arm to hurt Furusawa and break free. It is a risk that pays off as after four stiff back elbows to the eye socket of Furusawa, Cox is finally free. Just like that after a kick to the gut for good measure...... Hori : IMMORTAL DRIVER!!!!! Jimmy although clearly in pain knows he has to act fast and quickly throws himself over the convulsing body of Mabuchi Furusawa. 1 2 3 Finally this battle has come to an end and the fans and announcers are gifted a chance to catch their breath as a standing ovation rings out around the Osaka athletic stadium in a show of appreciation and respect for the two fearless warriors laying broken in the ring. Mabuchi was adamant he wanted to take the bump and I trusted Jimmy enough to give it the green light. I'm glad I did because it was the story of the match and has given us options pairing the two again later on down the line. As far as the ring work goes it was okay. Not that Jimmy dragged this match down in anyway but the Jimmy Cox of five years ago this match steals the show. Furusawa was the star of this match selling his butt off to put over Jimmy and the Immortal drive. Best match of the night so far but we still have one to go. Rating B- </div></blockquote> Kudo : What a match, I'm shocked. I've never seen such an animalistic side to Jimmy Cox as I have these past few months Uboshita : You know he's like an old black bear. Right before they hibernate they need to eat and get fat to survive the winter. The old black bear slows down and can't catch the fish the young black bears can so he gets desperate. The old black bear gets desperate and do you know what the old black bear does when he's desperate? Hori : What does he do? Uboshita : He kills all the young bears to wipe out the competition. The less young bares around the more fish in the stream. The more fish in the stream, the better the old black bears odds of survival. That's what we're seeing here, Jimmy Cox is getting desperate. He knows he can't match the young guys for speed and power so he's pulling out all the stops so he can survive the winter. Kudo : He has certainly changed his attitude towards the sport that's for sure. First to appear is Makuda. He is in his trademark black trunks with red trim and black bomber jacket. On the back of the jacket is a red silhouette of a pit bull's head, the same logo is on the front right of his trunks. Makuda also has the openweight championship around his waist as he walks purposely across the runway to the ring in his red boots. Close behind him is Hyobanshi. He is dressed as always in black trunks, boots and knee pads. He has a long black hooded robe, open with the hood up. both men walk down the runway and step into the ring through the middle rope as the music of Hiroyasu Gakusha begins to sound out. The fan's erupt in to a chorus of GA-KU-SHA, GA-KU-SHA as they await their hero. Kuroki steps out first, yellow trunks with black trim, white knee pads and black boots embroidered with a white double K. He is also wearing a Black GCG t-shirt. Then stepping out is Gakusha. From the second you lay eyes on him you realise he is a star. A long gold robe, hood up and just a few lengthy golden locks poking out of the hood. The audience completely lose it and the GA-KU-SHA chants are deafening. With all four men in the ring, announced and streamers thrown we join Makuda and Kuroki as the bell rings to signal the start of the battle. Makuda and Kuroki stare at each other for a moment as they soak in the noise around the stadium. Makuda slaps his left shoulder with his right hand before the two tie up. The crowd start to bring the decibel levels down until almost silent as they show their respect for the men in the ring. Makuda floats behind into a waistlock and manages to take Kuroki down to his chest and then floats over to a front face lock. Kuroki not to be out done slips out into a hammer lock and holds on tight for a moment as the fans show appreciation with a gentle applause. The two continue to exchange holds throughout the opening minutes. Once Kuroki starts to gain an advantage Makuda decides to let Hyobanshi take a shot at their foe. As the muscular heavyweight steps through the ropes the fans let out a huge gasp as they realise business is about to pick up. Although clearly not as well loved by the GCG fans as Gakusha, Hyobanshi is equally as well know and respected across the land of the rising sun, if not more so. Hyobanshi arrogantly steps to the centre of the ring and beats his chest with one hand as if signalling to Kuroki to try and move him. Kuroki is only too happy to oblige and hits Hyobanshi with a shoulder barge off the ropes but the big man does not budge. Kuroki after failing to move Hyobanshi a second time decides to hit him with a straight forearm to the face. Hyobanshi hits back and both continue the exchange until Hyobanshi hits an overhead belly to belly which sends Kuroki flying. When Kuroki gets back to his feet he try's to wrestle the big man but he sees his side headlock attempt reversed into a back drop driver. Gakusha is signalling for the tag as a bemused Kuroki looks up at Hyobanshi wondering how he can put him down. Kuroki gets to his feet looks at Hyobanshi then at Gakusha and makes the tag. Gakusha, in his gold tights and gold boots takes a moment to soak in the atmosphere then steps in through the middle rope to the ring. Hyobanshi is smiling which in turn provokes a smile back from the world champion. both men look focused and calm. They tie up and Hyobanshi pushes Gakusha back to a neutral corner, referee Koruba makes him break the hold which he does with a big smirk across his face as he backs away to the centre of the ring. Gakusha steps towards Hyobanshi still looking confident and they lock horns once more. This time Gakusha forces Hyobanshi back to a corner, He lets go laughing at Hyobanshi which the big guy takes no issue with. After being in the sport for eighteen years Hyobanshi will not be easy to fluster with such head games. They tie up once more, Gakusha floats under with a waist lock but Hyobanshi counters with a snapmare and then lands a viciously stiff kick to the spine of the champ. For the first time in the match we see the confidence of the golden boy of golden canvas take a hit. When Gakusha gets to his feet his expression has changed to one of seriousness as he puts on his business head. They tie up yet again this time Hyobanshi gets waist control, Gakusha hits a snapmare and lands a punt of his own. Not wanting to play games of one-upmanship any longer, Gakusha goes straight to a rear headlock. After a minute or so Hyobanshi fights to his feet and lands a backdrop driver, both men lay still for a moment. As they reach their feet Hyobanshi brings Makuda back in with a tag, he and Gakusha go at it for a few minutes mixing holds, strikes and throws until the pit-bulls tenacity is too much for Gakusha who tags out to catch his breath. The match continues at the same pace until Makuda hits Kuroki with a dangerous brainbuster seemingly out of nowhere. 1 2 But Gakusha makes the save much to the delight of the crowd. Makuda tags in Hyobanshi who works over the injured Kuroki with some big nova strikes and suplexes. Every time Hyobanshi goes for the cover Gakusha makes the save. Eventually after saving kukori from defeat once more, Gakusha refuses to leave the ring. Referee Koruba stands infront of Gakusha pushing him to his corner, a frustrated Hyobanshi behind him telling the ref to gain control..... Then........ Kudo ROARING GAKUSHA STRIKE!!! Gakusha levels Hyobanshi with roaring Gakusha strike from behind the referee not allowing Hyobanshi to see it coming until it was to late. Both legal men lay still for a while as Koruba gets Gakusha to exit the ring. From here its a race of who can crawl to their corner and make the tag first. Kuroki and Hyobanshi tag out simultaneously as Gakusha and Makuda race to the centre of the ring to greet each other with forearm smashes. Just as Makuda looks to be winning the exchange...... Hori : ROARING GAKUSHA STRIKE!!! The champ floors Makuda but instead of going for the cover he yanks the pit-bull up and head first between his legs. sensing victory as he looks over at Hyobanshi who is still laid out on the apron trying to clear the cobwebs from the roaring Gakusha strike he took only minutes earlier. Gakusha underhooks Makuda's arms and looks at Hyobanshi once more, with that he lets go of the underhooks and throws Makuda towards his corner as he crashes on the mat next to his fallen partner. Kudo : Why? this makes no sense. Gakusha had the match won. I don't think Hyobanshi would have been able to make the save and Makuda is in a bad way. What on earth is the champion thinking. Uboshita I can only assume he want's to beat Hyobanshi himself. We know the reason he challenged Hyobanshi and put his world championship on the line is because he wants to prove he can beat him. What better opportunity than this? Hyobanshi is hurt and Makuda is out of it. If Gakusha can answer the question of if he can break the curse and beat Hyobanshi right here now, That will give him a whole new confidence going into that match. Having the unanswered question going into parade of champions will make it much harder for Gakusha to defend his title I'm sure With that Makuda tags in Hyobanshi who stubbles through the ropes to the ring. Gakusha is straight on the attack, Hyobanshi and Gakusha go toe to toe, exchanging nova strikes and Gakusha strikes. Gakusha finally has the big man rocked and spins forward to land what will surely be the final roaring Gakusha strike of the match but wait...... Uboshita : NOVA BURST! what a move by Hyobanshi. He just saved the match for himself and Makuda. Gakusha rolls around on the mat holding his gut with a grimace on his face and a tear in his eye as pain shoots through his body. Hyobanshi rolls to his back and stares at the lights why he catches his breath. Gakusha realising the danger of the situation edges towards his corner and tags out while Hyobanshi finds his feet. Kuroki meets Hyobanshi in the middle of the ring with a stiff forearm and starts to take control. Kuroki sets up for the Kuroki Krush but Hyobanshi pushes him off... Uboshita : NOVA BURST!! this time on Kuroki. the second of the match. Hyobanshi wastes no time hooking the leg and covering Kuroki. 1 2 Gakusha dives through the ropes and makes the save. Makuda hits the ring a unceremoniously tosses Gakusha out the middle rope to the runway and follows him out. As Makuda and Gakuhsa fight outside upon the runway, Hyobanshi and Kuroki continue to do battle in the ring. Outside Gakusha hits Makuda with Gakusha strike after Gakusha strike until... Hori : ROARING GAKUSHA STRIKE roaring Gakusha strike on Makuda on the outside and its sent him crashing to the concrete floor. Makuda goes flying off the runway and rolls into the guard rail. Meanwhile in the ring... Kudo : NOVA BURST! Mas look in the ring, Kuroki is down, nova burst, NOVA BURST!!! Hyobanshi see's Gakusha distracted outside and instead of finishing of Kuroki he goes out after the champ. Hyobanshi pearl harbour's Gakusha with two clubbing forarms to his back, while Gakusha was looking down at Makuda and not realising Hyobanshi was behind him. Hyobanshi then ducks down sticks his head between the legs of Gakusha, lifting him up on his shoulders. Hyobanshi then slowly creeps carefully to the edge of the runway. The crowd gasp as hyobanshi spins Gakusha around........ Kudo : NOVA BOMB!!! NOVA BOMB!!! NOVA BOMB ON GAKUSHA OFF THE RUNWAY TO THE FLOOR!!!!!!! Hyobanshi looks down on the destruction he has caused only for a moment as he remembers he has a match to win. Kuroki is fighting to get to his feet in the ring, Hyobanshi re-enters and hits two fierce nova strikes to the neck of Kuroki, then throws Kuroki's arm over his shoulder.... Hori : NOVA BOMB REDUX!!!!!!! As Kuruki crashes head first to the mat Hyobanshi hooks his legs over Kuroki's shoulders sitting in a seated position as referee Koruba starts his count 1 2 3 Hori : that's it, Hyobanshi and Makuda have done it. The match is finally over, Makuda is trying to pull himself back in the ring as Hyobanshi and Kuroki lay still in the centre. Gakusha has still not moved from the spot where Hyobanshi planted him as we get the decision. The Gakusha, Hyobanshi moments stole the show and Hyobanshi was the stand out, grasping his big moment with both hands. I was sceptical before the match about having Makuda in such a high profile match with such big names and I was right to be. He was the weak link and struggled a little to keep up with the other three. Having Makuda take the win although not the fall has lowered Gakusha and Kuroki's stock. Makuda will be looked upon as more of a big time player now but I would have personally not done that at the expense of two such important stars as Gakusha and Kuroki, but Kudo said it needed to happen for the story he'e trying to tell so.... I wont even begin to share my thoughts on the nove bomb spot off the runway. All in all fantastic stuff, had me on the edge of my seat and a fine way to end our debut show on TV. He fell a little short calling the last two matches, much like myself and Mas. truth be told none of us have the ability to do some of our stars the justice they deserve from the announce table but as myself and Mas are old and stuck in our ways, Naizen is young, bright and talented. I see him only improving so no problems there. The mood in the dressing room was very good from the start, Miyazaki who is a big fan of anime done some funny drawing of myself and some of the boy's that he brought to work with him, pair that with our new television deal and there was quite a buzz in the looker room pre show. That carried over to the card as the in ring action was more than a company of our size should be producing and should have only have increased our popularity and strengthened our brand. Still, Furusawa is on to bigger and better things, so I'm gonna say the champs fail in their defence.

Our main event will feature two of Japanese wrestling's finest as Hiroyasu Gakusha will defend his GCG world heavyweight championship against Toshiharu Hyobanshi in what will mark their first singles face off since April 2012. Uboshita : Yes and in that match Hyobanshi won the world title off Gakusha. Will we see lightning strike twice tonight? Hori : In fact Gakusha has not pinned or made Hyobanshi submit since November 2005 when our current world champion beat the beast that is Toshiharu Hyobanshi for the openweight championship. Kudo : That really does make this match all that more intriguing Mas. Uboshita : Lets also not forget about the other the other massive match that could have huge implications on the world title scene between SUKI and Kiminobu Kuroki. Kudo : Great point Naizen I almost overlooked this battle between two guy's who just out and out hate each other. Hori : I saw Kuroki before the show and he's still not 100%. He has his shoulder and neck quite heavily taped up from the enormous nova bomb redux he took at the end of last months event. Uboshita : I know he had to go to the hospital for scans on his neck and spine straight after the show but knowing the kind of warrior he is the pain will only spur him on. Kudo : Yes our medical team have given him the green light to compete and we are very pleased no serious damage was done. Massacre starts us off, showing his brutal strength by throwing around Kikuchi and giving the youngster little rest bite. Massacre finally starts to slow a little, maybe by fatigue as the monster has much mass to carry around on his giant frame in the ring. This allows Kikuchi to hit a series of basement dropkicks to the man mountains left leg. Kikuchi once gaining some momentum tags in his partner. Lion hits the ring and countinues to try a chop down the tree of a man that is massacre. Massacre realising he is at a disadvantage by clearly being out paced decides to tag out before he has the decision to do so taken from him. Kingman uses his vast experience and knowledge to turn the tide by out wrestling the youthful Genji. Genji tags kikuchi back in to see if he has better luck against the veteran. Kikuchi mounts some offence but his efforts are stopped when massacre is reintroduced. The heavyweight pummels Kikuchi before tagging Kingman back in and attacking Genji on the apron, paving the way for Barry to hit the black out and pick up the pin for his team. Your winners in 7:01 Barry Kingman & Massacre when Barry Kingman pinned Danjuro Kikuchi following a black out. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44178" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div> Road agents thoughts with Hito Ichinara : This was okay as far as opening matches go. The fans didn't seem to care too much about any of the guys in the ring, that took away from the heat of the match that to be honest, didn't exist. Massacre was the weak link and still needs a lot of work if we are going to be able to trust him higher up the card. On a positive note Barry got some much needed momentum and the two younger boys put in some decent performances and it was more invaluable experience gained for them. RATING C- </div></blockquote> Uboshita : Barry Kingman showing once again what a dangerous competitor he is. Kudo : Yes Naizen and another impressive showing by a guy I see having a fantastic career here with GCG in Massacre. The mix of talented mat technicians, the brute strength of Ishinomori added to the new nastier side of Jimmy Cox and it really was a mouth watering match on paper. The opening exchange was a thing of shear beauty as Greg Gauge and Masashi Urogataya grappled in the closest thing you'll get to a human chess match, with locks and counters aplenty. After both men seemingly at a stalemate could no longer find a way to best the other, a mutual agreement was made to both just tag out, introducing Shimizu and Dean Daniels into the match. The match continued in a similar fashion if not quite to the high standard set by the opening pair until Daniels caught Shimizu with a lovely float under waist lock into a release German suplex which stopped the young Japanese native in his tracks. Dean tagged in the only gaijin yet to be involved and Cox went straight on the attack. At this point you could tell that the three Americans had good synergy and had clearly tagged together before. They used quick tags to stay fresh and on top of the worse for wear looking Shimizu. Shimizu however showed fantastic resilience and ring presence to escape an arm bar attempt by Daniels and roll into his corner, tagging in Sozen Ishinomori. Ishinomori made his presence felt by dominating Daniels then Gauge before the grizzled veteran Cox was left to try his luck. Try his luck was what Cox did as he and Sozen tore the house down with a vicious brawl inside the ring, sparking the crowd into life. Ishinomori was too powerful for Cox hitting him with an enormous leaping lariat that sent his older opponent crashing to the mate. Sozen could only score a two count thanks to interference from Daniels. This started a six man brawl. As the dust started to settle Urogataya and Gauge went toe to toe on the outside while Azumamro had the presence of mind to get back to his corner after ejecting Daniels from the ring. Now it looked like two on one as Sozen bullied Cox into their corner and made the tag to Shimizu. Shimizu could not capitalize on Ishinomori's fine work and Cox turned the tide back in his teams favour once more reversing a suplex attempt into one of his own. Cox signalled for the immortal driver which Sozen read and entered the ring, well would have entered the ring if not for Dean Daniels wrapping himself around the leg of Ishinomori preventing him from doing so, thus allowing Cox to hit the feared immortal driver and pick up the three. All six men put a shift in but Greg Gauge was the stand out for me. His crisp work and fine selling to get over Sozen where beautiful to behold. Decent match and a nice pace setter. Uboshita : Solid stuff from all six men who can all be proud of the heart they showed the nation there. I will say Ishinomori lacked that same killer instinct we saw last month in his match against Takayuki 2000 and that can defiantly be the difference between going home with the winners purse or not. This match was a real flashback to a seemingly bygone ear in GCG. The team of Hurricane 2000 brought back from the dead to face Samoan destruction inc, in a match that may have had you thinking you had just woke up in the mid to late noughties once glancing at the card. The Samoans took early control of the fight by using there side of the ring to isolate Okazawaya, The pair made good use of quick tags and Rhino's strength to further cement their initial dominance. The Samoans used their tag team savvy to refrain from using throws and suplexes to lessen Harumi's odds of escape and making a tag to his fresh partner by implementing mostly headlocks and wristlocks and such, controlling the pace and keeping it slow and purposeful. Harumi started mounting comebacks on occasion but was nipped in the bud by the non legal Samoan coming in and blindsiding him. Okazawaya was not going to go down without a fight and once he gained a small advantage against Machine he was ready for the incoming Umaga and sharply span around, clocking Umaga with a solid haymaker sending the big man staggering to his corner. This aloud Harumi to level Machine also and finally tag in Takayuki 2000 much to the delight of the audience. Takayuki sent Umaga out and over the top rope via a stiff lariat, then turned his attentions to Machine. Takayuki picked up the pace with some big suplexes and knees that had the Samoan rocked. Takayuki had Machine in position for a third degree burn but Rhino managed to stop him just in time. This brought Harumi back into the mix and he and Rhino brawled to the outside. Amongst the commotion Machine was able to hit a pretty neat German suplex of his own and he wasted no time going for the unbreakable sleeper on Takayuki, who although dazed had bounced back up to his feet. The former world champ somehow sensed the danger and landed and overhead soccer style bicycle kick to the face of machine as he approached from behind to lock in his dreaded sleeper. This aloud 2000 to hit the third degree burn and lock in the Persian deathlock forcing Samoan Machine to eventually tap when he realised Umaga would not be able to make it back into the ring to make the save, thanks to Harumi. Your winners Takayuki 2000 and Harumi Okazawaya in 15:29 after Samoan Machine submitted to Takayuki 2000 after being trapped in the Pesian deathlock. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44178" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div> Road agents thoughts with Hito Ichinara : Good stuff with all four men having their moments and looking good, none more so than Takayuki who was head and shoulders above the rest in terms of in ring performance. The decision Kudo made in putting these four in a match was as much to freshen up the tag ranks as it was to get Takayuki over and build his momentum towards a world title charge. Whatever route he chooses to take its given us some options. the Samoan's dropped the belts at last years golden kingdom and have since had a rematch for the straps. They are kind of floating in limbo a little now but them going over here made the least sense moving forward. As far as the match goes it was better than okay and the fans seemed to enjoy the action. The fans showed their excitement for the match before it had even began by pelting the ring with streamers which took the ringside staff what seemed an eternity to clear. What's noticeable before the match is Furusawa is wearing an amateur wrestlers headgear. The broadcast team mention it was the only way he could get clearance to wrestle after the head trauma he suffered last month at the hands of Jimmy Cox. Miyazaki nominates himself to start the match as Ikina and Tayama look over and whisper in each others ears to devise their early game plan. So with that the bell rings to start the match and Tayama leaves the ring leaving Ikina and Miyazaki to start proceedings. Miyazaki and Ikina enjoy a fine few minutes early on with both men hitting hard and often. Ikina is the first man to hit a suplex and follows that up with a rear chin lock to slow the pace and catch his breath. Miyazaki fights to his feet and escapes into a hammer lock, then pushes Ikina into his corner and gestures he wants to face Tayama. Ikina, rubbing his left shoulder with a look of shock on his face turns and looks at the big bruiser, looks back at Miyazaki as if to say be careful what you wish for, then tags the big man in. Tayama not one to show emotion, looks calm and focused as he enters the ring. both men walk to centre of the ring and stand nose to nose until Miyazaki hits a quick uppercut, Tayama hits back with a chop to the chest of Miyazaki, the sound that rang out from the blow sent shivers down the spins of many in the crowd but Miyazaki just comes straight back with an uppercut. The two trade off with chops and uppercuts until Miyazaki hits a leaping "superman" forearm that catches Tayama on the jaw then follows up with a nifty looking belly to belly suplex to ground the beast and gain an early advantage for the defending champs. With Tayama isolated and down, it's safe to bring in the clearly injured Furusawa to a rather large cheer from the fan's. An angry looking Furusawa goes straight to work landing vicious kicks and closed fists to Tayama, almost as if Tayama is Jimmy Cox in the eyes of Furusawa, who continues his assault for as long as referee Koruba will allow. This sparks Ikina to jump in the ring but Furusawa is in no mood to stop throwing punches and levels the fifty year old vet with a brutal looking overhead right. This distraction was a life line for Tayama who managed to put the breaks on when Furusawa turned his attention back to the legal man and tried to Irish whip him into a neutral corner. Tayama not only blocked then move but almost decapitated Furusawa with a ridiculously powerful short arm clothesline. That was the catalyst for Tayama to brutalize Furusawa. Two big over head belly to belly's followed by a giant release German and the pendulum had swung firmly in the favour of the challengers. Ikina wanted into the match at this point but Tayama was far from finished with Furusawa. Ripping the head gear off of the champ, Tayama rained downed closed fists on to the forehead of the seated champion. Hori : This is unsafe now, Kuruba needs to do something, wait is he? Kudo : Yes Mas Tayama is bleeding and quite heavily it seems. Tayama rubs his hand on the bloodied head Furusawa and the proceeds to spread the blood across his own chest. Tayama goes to deliver a gut wrench power bomb but Miyazaki sees it coming and makes the save. Tayama drags Furusawa to the challengers corner and tags in Ikina. Ikina continues to land nasty looking forearm smashes to the gapping wound on Furusawa's head and follows up with a brain buster. <div style="text-align:center;">1 2</div> Uboshita : Miyazaki saves the belts for his team once again. Ikina shows his years of experience by not wasting any time and as referee Koruba Shepherds Miyazaki back into his corner Ikina gets the double underhooks and...... Hori : IKINA DRIVER! Miyazaki doesn't even turn around and realise when he first gets on the apron that Kuroba is already making his count. 1 2 Hori : Furusawa has somehow managed to get his foot on the bottom rope. Kudo : And just as well for the tag champs as Miyazaki was not going to be able to break the count that time. Uboshita : Great spot by referee Koruba to see that as Furusawa only managed to lift his lift at the very last moment. Miyazaki kicks Ikina off as he may be late breaking the count but sees no reason not to land a blow as he's gone to the effort of trying to make the save. This provokes Tayama who in turn enters the ring and attacks Miyazaki. While the two fight in the corner Ikina picks up the blood soaked Furusawa to put the match to bed for his team and become the first five time tag champions in GCG history, however Furusawa is bloodied but not beaten.... Uboshita : FURUSAWA EXPLODER 15!! Furusawa hits his exploder completely against the flow of the match. He then turns his attentions towards Tayama and Miyazaki and in what seems to be a moment of shear madness grabs the legs of both men who are locked up against the ropes and dumps both men unceremoniously over the top rope and out to the floor. Kudo : EXPLODER!! FURUSAWA EXPLODER 15!!! 1 2 3 Your winners in 13:04 and still GCG world heavyweight tag team champions Shingen Miyazaki and Mabuchi Furusawa when Mabuchi Furusawa scored the pin on Shotaro Ikina after hitting the Furusawa exploder 15. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44178" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div> Road agents thoughts with Hito Ichinara : I'm so angry. I don't think I can put into words just how angry I am but I'm going to give it a try. Yas and Mabuchi came to me with the whole head trauma spot and I said great idea, sounds good. Then they said Mabuchi wanted to add colour so I quite clearly said no. I even gave a reason even though I didn't have to as I'm the road agent but out of respect for the two I told them. I said we can't after just signing a new television deal I'm not sure on the stance the network would take on blood on the shows. I specifically said NO BLOOD. I know that smart arse Yas will just say it was an accident because it happened the hard way but I wasn't born yesterday. I know full well all four men where in on that and I feel let down and undermined to put it mildly. Lets try and analyse the match now as impartially as I can. The match was shortish because of Ikina who yet again was the weak link. Tayama got over to the fans well but to the trained eye was a little off his game. Furusawa was decent and Miyazaki put in the best performance, even carrying Ikina to some nice moments early on. now lets move on. I've had my rant and I don't want to speak of this bloodbath again until I'm alone in a room with that idiot Yas and Furusawa. RATING C+ </div></blockquote> Kudo : What a fight that was but the champions retain. Hori : Unbelievable fighting spirit shown by Furusawa who proves once again he is one of toughest athletes on the golden canvas roster. Uboshita : What a smart move by Furusawa to dump both his partner and Tayama over the top rope. Eagle is in his usual Yellow and blue tights with matching mask and white boots. The challenger seems calm and not overwhelmed by the occasion as he stretches in his corner using the ropes for leverage in the stretch. Koruba calls both men to the centre of the ring and tells them he expects a clean fight and will not tolerate the same level of madness that the match leading to this contained. Both men shake hands and head back into there corners as the bell rings to signal the start of the match. Both competitors circle the middle of the ring and both drop to a knee threatening to shoot in on the other. As they lock up for the first time Makuda goes for a hip toss but Eagle is able to land on his feet an hit a hip toss of his own. The champion lands hard on his back but spins straight over and grabs an ankle, and in doing so trips Kawasawa, Makuda leaps onto the chest of Eagle but the mask man bridges out and gets to his feet to a nice round of applause from the Kanto crowd. The rest of the opening exchanges are much the same as both wrestlers show off their fine technique and the plethora of reversals and escape they have in their arsenals. Makuda is clearly trying to make the match more of a fight by throwing punches, chops and kicks but Eagle uses leg kicks and the ropes in an attempt to keep the pace fast as that favours his more junior and lucha roots having been trained by the legendary Optimus himself. Although these are not styles we see too often from Kawasawa these days, he obviously feels its a better strategy than getting sucked into a striking battle with the rugged Makuda. Like as ever something had to give and Makuda caught Eagle in mid-air while attempting a high cross body and was able to hit a well executed rib breaker to swing the match in his favour. Makuda then worked the mat, mostly using a camel clutch variant to put ever more pressure on the ribs and lower back of the challenger. Eagle although not looking comfortable he never looked in danger of submitting and it was clear the pit bull was just trying to wear down Kawasawa as apposed to going for the kill. Eagle was able to get a foot on the ropes causing the break and giving the challenger a much needed moment to regain some composure. Upon getting back to his feet Eagle was far more susceptible to joining Makuda in a fist fight and that's what we got for the next few minute. Eagle surprisingly to some was able to match Makuda in a brawl for the most part but knew he had to change his focus eventually. After both men had stunned the other with some fierce chops and forearms, Eagle hit a nice northern lights suplex after ducking a wild haymaker from Makuda. Eagle held on with a bridge but Makuda kicked out on two. Eagle tried various other pin attempts including a crucifix and a backslide but Makuda was always able to power out. Eagle gained another two count after hitting a top rope missile dropkick and the frustration was starting to show in his body language. Makuda sensing he was in some degree of trouble mounted a comeback focusing mainly on leg kicks to take away the speed advantage of Kawasawa you would have to assume. Eagle tried to get away from the assault to his left leg by hitting the ropes but Makuda followed him and took out Kawasawa with a basement dropkick to the aforementioned limb. This swung the match back in the champions favour. Makuda stomped on the leg and used a leg lock and a single leg Boston crab to weaken limb further. Eagle was looking in trouble now and every time he would brake a hold via the ropes, Makuda would hold on until five, and when the ref pulled him off he would either go straight back to the hold or stamp on leg repeatedly. After a few minutes more of torture the masked challenger started to fight to his feet with punches to the mid rift of the champ. Makuda would put out the flame of hope each time with soiled knees to his foes face. Makuda then sensing victory and feeling he had wore his opponent down sufficiently, picks up Eagle and hoists him in the air. Kudo : DANGEROUS BRAIN BUSTER!! 1 2 Hori : He kicked out what spirit from Kawasawa. Makuda, furious, lifts Eagle up again but the challenger is able to knee the champ in his head forcing him to drop him back down to his feet. Eagle slumps backwards to a seated position on the mat. Makuda advances but Eagle keeps him at bay with a couple of rather desperate looking front kicks from the ground. Eagle pulls himself up via the ropes, surely realising its now or never. Eagle runs at Makuda hitting a running enziguri not quite a vision quest but more of a full moon rising that Wolf Hawkins of TCW would use to finish matches. Then as Makuda drops to one knee... Hori : VISION QUEST! VISION QUEST! VISION QUEST! Kawasawa take a few seconds to get to Makuda and make the pin due to him still favouring the injured left leg. 1 2 Uboshita : NO MAKUDA KICKED OUT! Kudo : Both men have kicked out of each others finishes, who will be able to put the other away? This is crazy. Both men lay motionless for a moment as Referee Koruba starts his ten count. Somehow Makuda is first to his feet and makes a b-line straight for the still down but stirring Kawasawa. As Makuda grabs Eagle to lift him up Kawasawa counters into a small package. 1 2 Kudo : Makuda kicks out. This time both men find their footing at similar times. Makuda though seemingly out of nowhere..... Uboshita : DANGEROUS BRAIN BUSTER!!!
