FLB: One Last Ride

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I am very excited about the upcoming release of WMMA5. I was a big fan of the 3rd iteration, although the 4th one seemed better for some reason it did not create the same feeling.

Anyway, now I'm looking to play one last save in WMMA4 with FLB, a promotion I'm yet to have a long-term save with. I'll be using the C-verse extended mod. I'm not much of an MMA fan, but I love the business simulation and show management side of the game. So I'll be playing as a business man and less of a fanboy and hopefully piss some of you in the process. With that out of the way, let's get started

Leandro Piquet bulks up

Veteran Fighter Leandro Piquet has announced that he is going to fight in the heavyweight division. The Fan Favorite fighter who was once considered as a contender for the light heavyweight belt had a disappointing career in FLB so far.

After winning a spot for the light heavyweight title match, Piquet was unsuccessful in the title bout against Elgar and lost in the 5th round. He is yet to win a match in FLB after that and his record at FLB stands at 1-4. He and most of Brazil is hoping he can change his fortune in the Heavyweight division.

FLB announces Aldez vs Elgar

FLB has announced Aldez vs Elgar to be held on Monday the 1st of February. The event will be broadcasted live on PPV network Vista.

Roberto 'The Sniper' Aldez vs Elgar for Light Heavyweight Title

The newly crowned Light Heavy Weight Champion will look to defend his belt against another 36 year old and a former Champion in the form of Elgar. It's going to be a Muai Thai Showdown between two very identical fighters and the question is who will come out as a superior Muai Thai Fighter?

ELGAR Signs with ALPHA-1

FLB's light-heavy weight star Elgar has signed an exclusive contract with the Japanese giants Alpha-1. This would mean that Elgar's next fight against Roberto Albez would be his last fight for FLB and his last shot at the FLB Light-Heavyweight belt. Elgar has already won the belt once and his current record at FLB stands at 5-1, with his only defeat coming against the previous champion Affonso Villar.

The FLB management released a public statement claiming that they had no intention of holding Elgar back as they believe it is the right direction in his career. They have allowed the negotiations to go smoothly. However, the management has urged Elgar to stay focused on the Championship bout.

Elgar is currently in the Brazilian Estrela Academy training for his championship bout. His team member Carlos da Guia, who is the Alpha-1 middleweight champion is very happy for his team mate and claims that Elgar is very excited about joining him at Alpha-1. However, Carlos also stated that the celebrations are kept to a minimum as the team is focused on Elgar's Title match against Roberto Albez on the 1st Monday of February. The team would prefer to celebrate his title win and see him leave FLB as a Champion.

FLB signs Marcos Mandoza

FLB has confirmed the signing of veteran Luta Livre Marcos Mandoza. Marcos Mandoza, nicknamed 'White Lion' has been involved in the Brazilian Cagefighting since 1986 and is now better known as the owner and head coach of the Vaunt Vale Tudo Gym. His Pro record stands at 42-16. The Brazilian fans are eager to watch him fight and see whether the 20 years of cage-fighting has taken too much toll on his body. Although the experts are split on this question, most seem to agree that this is going to be his last stint in MMA and he is looking to retire in a respectable fashion.

This is not going to be an easy task as most would agree that the Middle-weight division is the most competitive division at FLB. The division boasts Joaquim Fontes as the Champion. Joaquim Fontes is an elite level BJJ Black Belt and is known worldwide for having one of the most active guards in MMA. Furthermore, his proficiency in Kick Boxing has made him an all-round threat. The Division also boast Thais Antonio Taffarel who is another all-round threat having trained in Muai Thai, Judo and Kick Boxing. The divison also boasts the presence of Mario D'Souza, Leonardo Da Costa and the Veteran Zaco.

FLB has confirmed that they also signed 2 Lightweight fighters, 4 welterweight fighters, and 4 light heavyweight fighters.

FLB announces Battle Zone 1

FLB has struck a deal with the local TV channel Televisao 2 and will host some of its show on the Chanel. The series is going to be called Battle Zone and the show is going to premiere on the first Saturday of February. The show card is as follow.

Main Event

Joaquim 'Assasino Siencioso' Fontes vs Thais Antonio Taffarel for Middleweight Championship

The international BJJ star, Joaquim Fontes will be looking to make his second title defense of the middleweight belt in his first fight against Thais Antonio Taffarel. Both the fighters have lost only to GAMMA star, Braulio Moura and are unbeaten by anyone on the current FLB roster. On the first Sunday of February, only one of them will be able to make that claim.

Joaquim Fontes is one of the deadliest set of submissions and his expertise of Kick Boxing makes him a very capable stand up fighter.

Thais Antonio Taffarel is also a very versatile fighter. However, he expertises in Muay Thai and while also being an accomplished student of kickboxing and Judo.

Both men coming to the fight after breaking their winning streaks. One of them will fall into a losing streak.

Villar is coming off his shocking defeat against Roberto Aldez and will be looking to get back in form and eventually win back the title. His unbreakable chin, coupled with unpenetrable takedown defense means that the opponents are backed down to his corner.

Carlos dos Santos, on the other hand, is a very versatile fighter who is equally dangerous on the ground as he is on his feet. Since Villar's 'Unbreakable' chin was broken in the last fight, Carlos will be looking to penetrate his 'Unpenetrable' takedown defense and take the fight to the ground; A position where Villar's skills are untested
