Eventually, the team of Tozawa, Ibushi and Yamamoto won out as they dumped their opponents outside of the ring. Three synchronized baseball slides under the bottom rope took out the opposing team as the attackers were able to grab the early control of the match with each competitor giving equal time to their teammates as being the legal men. Gibson and Naruse wouldn't go down without a fight as their times in the ring had them charge back against the opponents and bring the match back to even. Samurai and Kashin held their own against their brutish opponents, but Saito and Goto were soon able to use the size disparity to close down on their masked opponents. Gamma seeked revenge for his A Block loss to Togo several nights before and turned up the power against his opponent, dropping him with several quick strikes and slams. Togo's veteran presence didn't allow for him to stay down for too long as he began to fight back as he brought the match to a more neutral position. The established tag teams of the match returned to play as they each returned to the apron with neither team establishing much dominance over the other on the outside. From there, the match stayed at an even position as both sides efficiently cycled through their manpower. The legal men returned to being Togo and Gamma as Togo started to get Gamma into position for a double-underhook facebuster. Gamma managed to sweep Togo's legs and rolled forward for a bridging pin, but was just short of achieving the fall. Gamma began to follow up with his arsenal and worked towards a Gamma Special, but Togo shoved his attacker against Marty Asami and hit a low blow off of the rebound. After a few seconds of deliberation between Tanahashi and Ishii, Tana relented and let Ishii into the ring. Both Ishii and Makabe immediately met in the center of the ring and traded punches and forearms in a battle that ended up as a stalemate. Yasuda and Tanahashi got involved next as they took turns as being the legal men as Makabe went around the ring on the outside to continue laying into Ishii. Inside the ring, Tanahashi did a masterful job at keeping his three remaining opponents at bay and nearly had Yasuda set up for a Texas Cloverleaf before Nagai interfered - a move that found himself being thrown to the outside. Inoue and Takemura soon became involved in the match as well with both getting in some offense. Tanahashi's ability to carry his team only lasted for so long as he soon fell victim to Iizuka and Yasuda double-teaming him in a neutral corner. A double running forearm softened the young star up for him to be thrown to the outside. From there, the brutish team turned their attention to the two juniors that were left remaining - Ishii being nowhere to be found as he battled with Makabe up the ramp. Kojima's advantage would only last for so long as Nakanishi began to fight back before tagging out to Chono, who took over control of the match. Chono went for his signature STF early in the match, but Kojima kept finding ways to slip away as he kicked the IWGP Heavyweight Champion away to get off a tag to Tenzan. Tenzan and Chono proved to be quite the entertaining matchup as both men stayed even trading off signature moves from their arsenal. Tenzan started to wear down Chono with his trademark mongolian chops before backing him into a corner with several knife-edge chops in a row. Chono managed to duck and got a tag off to Norton - the fresher man tipping the match back in Black New Japan's favor. Both teams continued to cycle through their available manpower as Kojima found himself facing off against Chono. A heavy-handed exchange in the center of the ring weakened Kojima for a bit as Chono went for a Yakuza Kick... but Kojima managed to dodge it and launch him for a german suplex! Cozy Cutter attempt found itself blocked by the champion as he shoved Kojima into Fujita and Tenzan in the corner before charging and connecting with a Shining Yakuza Kick in the corner. Nagata merely points at Chono's title with a smirk as all three victors of the previous match talk trash at him. Ultimately, Kanemoto prevailed as he took Tiger down with a belly-to-belly suplex before trying to slow his opponent down with some tightly-held submissions. Tiger Mask's energy made him quite the agile foe in the early stages of the match as he continuously found ways to slip out of Kanemoto's grasp. A backspring kick reversed Tiger's fortunes as Kanemoto found himself open for receiving some flashy offense such as a standing moonsault and a rolling senton. Tiger's quick-paced attacks only were effective for so long as Kanemoto took advantage of his opponent depleting his energy to go back on the attack. A dragon suplex managed to leave Tiger Mask resting in the corner, allowing Kanemoto to target his face with his signature taunting face scrapes with his boot. Kanemoto then raised Tiger Mask up for the ultimate humiliation with a Tiger Suplex attempt, but Tiger managed to slip out and roll through instead for a near three-count. Tiger desperately tried to claw his way back into the match with several targeted kicks to the thigh. Kanemoto shrugged off the attacks by shoving him back into a corner and again trying his boot scrapes. Tiger managed to catch a foot and kicked Kanemoto's standing leg out from under him. Rolling to the outside, Tiger kept hold of Kanemoto's leg and wrapped it around the ringpost, kicking it against the steel. Tiger took advantage of Kanemoto being temporarily immobilized by going up top and connecting with a moonsault. Cover! <div style="text-align:center;">1... 2... Kanemoto's still hanging on!</div> Taking some time to catch his breath, Tiger crawled to his feet and collected himself before getting Kanemoto in position for a Tiger Suplex, but Kanemoto was able to slip out at the last second and in turn tripped Tiger up and immediately slapped on an Ankle Hold! Kanemoto tried to keep Tiger positioned in the center of the ring, but the ringpost attack on his legs didn't allow him to keep Tiger motionless. A rope break forced Kanemoto to break the hold, but he immediately pounced on Tiger with several stomps before going for a Tiger Suplex of his own. As Kanemoto raised his opponent, Tiger managed to stop Kanemoto's momentum and reversed into an arm drag before immediately hitting a quick moonsault. Instead of going for the pin, Tiger Mask quickly lifted Kanemoto and finally delivered his Tiger Suplex. Pin! <div style="text-align:center;">1... 2... 3!!</div> For the second year in a row, Tiger Mask IV is going to the Best of the Super Juniors Finals! An attempt at a running shoulder tackle by Tanaka was countered by a tricky drop toe hold as Magnum grabbed early control of the match by targeting the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion's head and neck on the ground. Magnum surprised the crowd by raising Tanaka into a surfboard submission in a bit of an unorthodox move for him - a move that he held for a bit before dropping the champion. Focused, Magnum continued his assault on the champion. While he laid into him with heavy strikes with his elbows and knees, he also took time to taunt Tanaka by slapping him on the back of the head several times. Having enough of his opponent's arrogance, Tanaka managed to sweep Magnum's legs out from under him as he started to go on the attack with a flurry of punches and elbows to his downed opponent. Wearing Magnum down with several slams and several suplexes, Tanaka quickly went to the top rope and connected with a diving knee drop before going for a cover that only provided a two-count. Tanaka threw Magnum to the outside as he proceeded to throw his opponent into various fixtures of the ringside environment. Magnum managed to stop himself from being thrown face-first into the ringside post to instead throw Tanaka into it. A lariat on the outside led to Magnum quickly going back into the ring and wait for Red Shoes to start the countout. As Tanaka got to his feet at the count of 10, Magnum vaulted over the top rope as he connected with a crossbody on the champion. Magnum rolled the champion into the ring as he then prepared him for an Egoist Driver. As Magnum got the champion up onto his shoulders, Tanaka threw some elbows at his head, but Magnum still connected with the maneuver! Pin attempt! <div style="text-align:center;">1... 2... NO!! TANAKA GOT A SHOULDER UP!!</div> Magnum can't believe it and is sure that Red Shoes made a mistake with his judgement. Red Shoes assured him that his count was accurate as Magnum slammed the mat with his forearms in frustration. Once getting Tanaka to his feet, the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion started to fight back as the match returned to a back-and-forth strike fest. A quick neckbreaker from Magnum brought the match back to his favor once more as he worked through his collection of signature moves. The momentum of the match wildly swung back and forth again and again as each man out of desperation would respond with a big signature move. Magnum attempted a second Egoist Driver and went for the release of the move, but, similar to Wrestling Dontaku, came down in a Minoru Special! Inoue and Takemura were able to escape time and time again but both would keep finding ways to get trapped and brutalized once more. This left Wolf and Nakamura to square off against one another with Wolf looking to score some heavy hits from his arsenal on the IWGP U-30 Openweight Champion. Wolf did impress during his solo stint before Team CMLL recovered as both teams started to cycle in their personnel to keep each side fresh. As the match progressed, members from each team started to fall by the wayside with both Team CMLL members going to the outside to fight Gedo and Jado once more. Neither man was willing to give in and put a tag out to their respective teammates as they each continued to charge at each other for more stiff blows. Eventually, both men had a staredown in the center of the ring before finally coming to their senses and getting a tag off to their corner. Once they were no longer the legal men, their battle didn't end as Makabe quickly tracked Ishii down on the outside and continued to lay into him on the ringside area. Meanwhile, in the ring, Tanahashi and Nishimura were having a back-and-forth contest with both men able to display some of their signature offense. Ibushi's efforts in the ring tipped the match in his team's favor with his lightning-quick arsenal, allowing Tanahashi to once again pounce and nearly put the match away. Back-and-forth attempts at strikes and shoulder tackles didn't faze either man as well, but a running knee by Nagata took his opponent by surprise and tipped the match in Nagata's favor early. Noticeable in the early minutes of the match was the absence of Masahiro Chono from ringside as only Scott Norton was standing in Nakanishi's corner. Nakanishi had his moments of being able to fight back and finally appeared to back Nagata into a corner with some heavy-handed knife-edge chops. Nagata was left dazed for a short period of time and was the recipient of more strikes from Nakanishi before he began to stage a comeback. The comeback was short-lived, however, as Norton managed to trip up Nagata from ringside, allowing Nakanishi to pounce once again and drop his opponent with a clubbing blow to the back of the head. Nagata would only stay down for so long as he began to fight back once more. The Dominion title challenger managed to wrestle Nakanishi down to the mat and got in position for one of his signature armbars and finally managed to lock the move in. Looking up, Nagata was able to see Chono emerge from the back and slowly begin to make his way towards the ring. Distracted, Nagata dropped the hold and started jawing away at the IWGP Heavyweight Champion. The distraction allowed Nakanishi to again go on the attack as he worked his way through his moveset all the way up to a Hercules Cutter. Before delivering his finisher, Nagata managed to slip off of the brute's shoulders and shove him against a taunting Norton on the apron, who fell and took out Chono momentarily. The momentum wildly swung between both competitors in the early stages of the match with either man only able to muster 30 or so seconds of consecutive offense before finding themselves on the receiving end of attacks from their opponent. An early Tiger Suplex nearly brought the match to an early close, but Magnum miraculously kicked out just prior to 2. Kanemoto quickly continued his attack on his opponent and appeared ready to provide the ultimate insult to his opponent by delivering an Egoist Driver, but Magnum reversed it into a DDT on the way down. Enraged, it was Magnum's turn to start shutting Kanemoto down and working through his arsenal. Lifting Kanemoto up for an Egoist Driver of his own, Magnum launched him for the move, but Kanemoto instead came down behind him on his feet and planted him with a second Tiger Suplex. At the egging on of the crowd, the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion finally stepped forward to accept Tiger Mask's gesture as the action proceeded to get underway. A spirited back-and-forth grappling match kicked off the bout as neither man was able to fully get a grasp of the other and keep them on the ground. The stalemate led to some early frustration for Tanaka, who threw a quick roundhouse towards the head of a seated Tiger Mask that was just dodged. Tiger Mask was able to use Tanaka's frustrations to his advantage as he began to slow the pace of the match down and drive the Junior Heavyweight champion to the mat. Taking time to focus on the neck of the A Block representative, Tiger used several headlock variations and elbows to the neck/shoulders to keep Tanaka down on the mat. Attempts by Tanaka to return to his feet were short-lived as Tiger would apply more pressure to throw him down to the mat. A rope break eventually brought the match back to an even level on their feet as Tanaka started to throw a flurry of kicks and forearms that softened up the defending Best of the Super Juniors winner. Tanaka found a soft spot in Tiger Mask with his stinging leg from the tail end of the round robin portion of the tourney and elected to take full advantage of the pre-existing injury. At first kicking away at the outside of the leg, Tanaka then threw his opponent to the ground and proceeded to work with some holds on the knee. Tiger Mask was able to eventually break free with a rope break and was successful in fending Tanaka off from attacking him any further in the corner. A kick to the chin left Tanaka dazed enough for Tiger to prop himself up on the top of the turnbuckle and connect with a missile dropkick for a two-count. The match went back-and-forth with strikes as Tiger managed to hit a standing dropkick that knocked Tanaka to the outside. Once Tanaka got to his feet, Tiger Mask followed up with a brilliant springboard moonsault press to the outside. The momentum was now completely in Tiger Mask's corner as he rolled Tanaka back into the ring and went for a second moonsault from the top rope that connected. Going for the pin, he was just milliseconds away from securing the victory as Tanaka just managed to get a shoulder up again. Seeing his opportunity for his second consecutive BoSJ win open up once more, Tiger Mask got Tanaka in position for a Tiger Suplex, but Tanaka smashed the back of his head into Tiger's nose and instead connected with a superkick that sent Tiger crumpling to the mat. Tanaka followed up with several suplexes and slams in a row before going up top for a Fireball Splash. Having to steady himself at the top of the turnbuckle, Tanaka leapt off the corner for the move and connected perfectly! Cover! <div style="text-align:center;">1... 2... Tiger Mask miraculously kicked out!</div> Tanaka can't believe that he couldn't seal the deal with the Fireball Splash as he grabbed Tiger Mask by his mask and raised him to his feet. Working at the leg again, Tanaka went for a takedown on his opponent, but Tiger Mask blocked the attempt and connected with a leaping knee to the head that left both opponents worse for wear. Tiger connected with several slower-paced strikes and looked to finish off with a strong forearm, but Tanaka caught the limb and trapped him in a Minoru Special! Tiger Mask struggled to get to a rope and attempted to roll out of the hold in any way possible. After a full minute being trapped in the hold, Tiger appeared as if he was ready to tap out to the champion, but a desperation push to the ropes led to Tanaka being forced to break the hold. Tanaka quickly followed up by targeting the back of his downed opponent as he then raised his maksed adversary for a Teramae 485 that connected! Up to the top rope Tanaka went once more as he went for a second Fireball Splash... but he was met with Tiger Mask's knees on the way down! Groggy, Tiger Mask tried forcing his way back to his feet as he managed to get to a standing position just prior to Tanaka. Tiger quickly ducked a punch from Tanaka as he then hit a quick Tiger Suplex! Worried he didn't get all of it, Tiger Mask hesitated for a brief second before picking up the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and getting him in position for a second Tiger Suplex. Tanaka fought with all of his might to break out of the position, but Tiger proceeded to lift him and drive the back of his head to the mat with the move. <div style="text-align:center;">1... 2... 3!! Pleased to announce that the latest member of the New Japan roster will be in his corner, Saito calls for AKIRA TAUE to approach the podium. The former Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion states that it's great to be welcomed so warmly into the New Japan locker room and expects to hit the ground running in his first matches with the promotion. Saito then takes over again and says that his new stable - Saitogun - will be looking to take over the top spot in the tag team ranks in New Japan and will be looking for a strong showing in the G1 Climax as well. - Jushin Thunder Liger makes a surprise appearance at the podium and announces that he will be competing in a six-man tag team match at the event along with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions - Negro Casas and Felino - to help promote the upcoming 'Puroresu Summit: NJPW vs. CMLL' at Korakuen Hall in several weeks. Liger and Team CMLL will be taking on Shinsuke Nakamura and Gedo and Jado. - Shinsuke Nakamura makes an appearance after Liger and says that he will be putting his IWGP U-30 Openweight Championship on the line at Puroresu Summit. Scouting out the competition at Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, he picks Perro Aguayo Jr. to be his challenger for the title at Korakuen. - Shinya Makabe issues a warning to Tomohiro Ishii that he's just a punk kid who's trying to fly too close to the sun. Makabe says that once you get to this position in the company, you have to prove that you can hang with the toughest of the tough, and Ishii hasn't been able to do that yet. - Riki Choshu announces that he will face Kensuke Sasaki in his second-to-last match. A pupil of Choshu's, Sasaki makes an appearance and says that will be an honor to wrestle a man who has taught both himself and many others currently on the roster one last time. - Minoru Tanaka says he's a tad embarrassed by the end result of the Best of the Super Juniors tournament, but he again congratulates Tiger Mask IV on his victory. He assures Tiger Mask that he will not allow himself to be beat again and that Tiger will have to up his game if he wants to take the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship from him. - Masahiro Chono scoffs at the challenge presented to him by Yuji Nagata. Chono says that Nagata's had his shot in the past, but Chono himself has shown that Black New Japan is not only the present, but the future of New Japan Pro Wrestling as well. Nagata appears and cuts off Chono, saying that it doesn't matter how many of his goonies he sends after him, Nagata will be walking out of Osaka Castle Hall with the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
