The 'Playing WMMA5 On A Mac' Questions & Help Thread

Recommended Posts

I downloaded the demo and the most up-to-date patch available and tried twice, once with a pre-made wrapper, another with one I made according to the specs that have worked for almost every GDS game to date. Both times, the game installed fine, but would not open. On the pre-made wrapper, starting the program immediately brought up the "uninstall" page, and the one I made simply would not open.

I posted this in the tech support forum, and Adam said to find a Mac thread. None have been made for this game yet, so I figured I'd get the ball rolling. If anyone's found a way to get this to work on a Mac, please post!

I used the steps from following thread to play WMMA4 originally and now was able to download and install WMMA5 quickly and easily.

NB: This will now be the official thread for all questions, advice, etc, on the subject of playing the game on a Mac.

Just to recap, WMMA5 is specifically a PC game and Grey Dog does not endorse using a Mac to play the game and cannot accept any responsibility for any issues you may have using that system, nor can we give any advice or technical support for it.

Im having difficulty getting this working, having had TEW working through Wine on a previous MacBook.

Hopefully someone can help.

When I install Wine and go through the stages and try to install ie6 and the rest, the pages aren't opening up that did the last time, where it looked like a windows set up and you run through it and it installs. This time, it just says winetricks applied succesfully. Is this working, or should I be getting the Windows screen to run through it?

Then, after the 4 are installed, how do you choose to use the exe file?

I am trying to get the demo working and if I do I will buy the full game, as I'd just be able to change the exe file to the full game right?

Hey everyone that's running on Wineskin. Install it like you usually do, but ever since the OS update a few months ago, you have to do an extra step now. I haven't gotten around to trying out WMMA 5 yet, but this video has helped me with running TEW 2016 and WMMA 4.

Then the larger renders look normal

Just got a Mac in exchange of my old windows notebook... Any current methods that would work for me?

The previous methods will still work.. there is a "guide" thread in the TEW 2016 forum for running the program through wine. You could also use parallels or bootcamp to run a windows OS.

However, if your Mac is updated to Catalina, the first option (wine) will no longer work.

EDIT: I can also confirm that the most recent update of CrossOver (by CodeWeavers) will work as well.
