Bringing MMA Glory back to the UK

Bringing MMA Glory back to the UK

This story is done on the hardest mode and with no experience of the game previously other than reading the forums. This may all go wrong, and I go bankrupt but that’s the challenge.

My plan is to showcase each event in detail and do a monthly showcase on a fighter from each weight class.

Changes to database:

I’ve added myself as a non-fighting character

Back Story:

Stephen Rands has managed to scrape £5000 and a dream together to bring MMA back to the UK as a major force. After seeing the decline of British Cage Fighting he felt he could do better and he started his own company Grenadier MMA.

2002 Goals

Focus on Featherweight for the first few months by signing unemployed fighters.

Have 30 Featherweight fighters on the books.

Move on to Welterweight before the end of the first year.

Initial Featherweight showcase and 4 shows after that. These 4 shows will be the company focus year on year as the big events.

Jefferson “The Hitman” Mndawe

23 Years Old, 5’9” from Lagos Nigerian and with a Pro Record of 8-0 (1-0 Grenadier) as a Kick Boxer.

One of the few African fighters around, Jefferson “The Hitman” Mndawe is a good kick boxer who can give most opponents a torrid time standing. He is particularly noted for his powerful head kicks, being a master of knocking people out with that strike. Seeking better competition, Mndawe moved to England and now resides in London

Rands:

This kid has a lot of talent and he can go far as a fighter. Our aim for him is to keep him active and keep pushing him to improve. I think Swithen Corcoran should watch out because when these two meet it will be explosive.

Swithens Corcoran

Swithens Corcoran is an ultra-tough Northern Irish fighter who has dynamite in his gloves. A former boxer, he is a very dangerous man to stand with, but has learned enough ‘anti-wrestling’ that shutting him down or taking him to the ground is a tough proposition too.

Rands:

Swithens Corcoran is a tough fighter who loves to stand and bang but has he really been tested yet? He is happy to call out fighters but we will see at the Summer Rumble whether he can put his money where his mouth is against Duey Rickert.

Featherweight

“Kid Britain” Manish Khan

27 Years Old, 5’6” from Sheffield, England with a Pro Record of 12-4 (1-0) as a Boxer.

Ranked #21 Featherweight (World)

Having excelled in England’s amateur boxing ranks, Manish Khan moved to MMA in 1994. Boasting fast hands and excellent head movement, his elusive counter-punching style quickly helped him establish himself as a major force and took him all the way to a Sigma featherweight title shot. Unfortunately, he lost that bout to Snorri Gunnarsson and the defeat seems to have sent his career into a tailspin.

Achievements:

1 x Knockout of the Night Winner

1 x Fight of the Night Winner

Rands: We were lucky enough to sign Manish Khan whilst he also fights for Sigma. His last fight proves that he still has what it takes to succeed at this level and we look forward to seeing more from him.

2002 Review

Grenadier has finished its first year of business and has gone from strength to strength.

With 4 shows in our first year the foundations have been laid for a big push in our second year.

Our aim is to increase our shows to 1 a month if possible. To help this we are aiming for 50 fighters per division and to open up the Middleweight division this year with a Middleweight Grand Prix to crown a champion.

We have also warned all fighters that 3 losses in a row during your contract will result in no new contract being offered.

In 2003 we are aiming to crown our first champions and push the company into national status.

Thank you for following the Grenadier story so far. I realise my posts might be a bit long winded but I am aiming to streamline them as I go. Any suggestions would be welcome.

My thoughts so far are to no longer share Rankings after each event, hiring’s and renewals unless people would like to see these. Rankings would still be shown in the tale of the tape before each fight.

Once again thank you for reading.

I've enjoyed reading through this. For a person who has no real knowledge of the game you've done well on a small budget. The temptation to cheat in these games, by using the ingame editor or pre-game is high. Good to see someone playing legit. As a general query, are you spending any money on the corporate side of things, upgraded hq, sponsoring comps and the like?

Hi Shinclone.

I’m enjoying the challenge to be honest and haven’t looked at the editor other than making myself.

I haven’t spent any money on the corporate side as I’ve only just started to make money. Currently Grenadier has £200,000 in the bank but I was thinking at the start of year 3 looking at the sponsoring which is £10,000 a month.

Do you have any suggestions or anything you would like me to add or take out?
