Well that almost does it for another show folks, as we finish our look back at Mid Atlantic Wrestling from the year 2015.

Next week we will be starting up in 2016 at the 11th annual Rip Chord Invitational, the one night tournament that really put us on the map as a company when it debuted back in January of 2006.

I have to say I was proud to put my name to it back then and that feeling has never changed after all these years.

"The Legend" Rip Chord

But before we go off air, lets do our yearly roster check, what say you Sam?

http://s19.postimg.org/d0v4kn0kj/Sam_Keith.jpg

Sam Keith (MAW Owner April 2011 - Present day)

Sam Keith : Lets do that Rip, and then we can give the card for next weeks show for those of you who are streaming the old shows week by week off our website oldschoolwrestlingpodcast.com.

Rip Chord : Lets start with the champ, your son Greg. Would you say that there's maybe a hint of nepotism there? Or was he just the best you had at the time? I say that because as you well know when I owned the company and my son was with us, I never put any titles on him. So why Greg?

http://s19.postimg.org/f5fhlqx2b/Greg_Gauge.jpg

Greg Gauge

Age : 26 (7 year pro)

Alignment : Face

Gimmick : Blue Chipper

Finisher : Proton Lock (A move created and made famous by the legendary Sam Keith, the Proton lock is applied like a traditional scorpion deathlock, but he then bridges backward and applies a reverse neck lock, adding an extra level of pain to the mix.)

Sam : No, no nepotism. it was a transition period for us as a lot of top guys had moved on over the past year or so. We had to put the strap on someone who could bring a house in and Greg was just that guy at that time.

Rip : So no one else could draw a crowd? What about Roderick Remus, the former champion, was he not a draw?

http://s19.postimg.org/gkh2agipv/Roderick_Remus.jpg

Roderick Remus

Age : 27 (9 year pro)

Alignment : Heel

Gimmick : Arrogant Heel

Finishers : Brainbuster suplex & Remus Clutch (Cobra Clutch).

Sam : Roddy could draw, He was a heel and we where heel heavy at the top of the card so we where running out of things to do with him holding the strap. There just wasn't a better face option than Greg at that time, plus Greg was probably the best worker we had during that period so having him main event was only gonna help his opponents to gain skill and exposure.

Rip : So who was your biggest face behind Greg then?

http://s19.postimg.org/lj4kp0wtf/Cheetah_Boy.jpg

Cheetah Boy

Age : 33 (15 year pro)

Alignment : Face

Gimmick : Old School Face

Finisher : Flying Cheetah Pounce (Top Rope Flying Shoulder Tackle)

Sam : That would be cheetah boy I guess.

Rip : So cheetah had already been in a program with Remus earlier on in 2015 which we covered a few weeks back. I guess that's why he wasn't considered to carry the strap?

Sam : Pretty much, but we really wanted to build towards Roddy and Greg for where it all begins again back in October which as you know better than anyone is what the fans consider to be our supreme challenge/total mayhem type show, so we wanted a big face title win and it just made the most sense.

Rip : So you where heel heavy at the top of the card? Who where some of those heels?

http://s19.postimg.org/5xn9525fn/George_Wolfe.jpg

George Wolfe

Age : 24 (4 year pro)

Alignment : Heel

Gimmick : Chosen One

Finisher : Running Powerslam

Sam : We had George Morton/George Wolfe. He had really been coming into his own in 2015 and started to show signs that he had inherited some of the immense talent that his father Ed had.

Rip : How so?

Sam : His gimmick was getting over with the fans, I mean they really started to f'n hate the guy. Him saying I was giving him preferential treatment as I was friends with his father, that stuff was gold. We had moved Fin on to Japan so we needed a big powerhouse to fill his boots and George was starting to do that.

http://s19.postimg.org/uqwt5tyrn/Cameron_Jones.jpghttp://s19.postimg.org/pfhwl5upf/Syd_Collier.jpg

The Dynamite Express

Cameron Jones & Syd Collier

Ages : 25 (5 year pro) & 26 (5 year pro)

Alignments : Heel & Heel

Gimmicks : Old School Heel & Machine

Finisher : Chop and Change (Fisherman's Buster (Jones) followed by a Top Rope Knee Drop (Collier))

Finishers : Fisherman's Suplex (Jones) & Texas Cloverleaf (Collier)

Sam : We had the tag champs Cameron & Syd. One of the greatest teams I've had the pleasure of watching live. These guys had such a great understanding of what makes tag team wrestling work.

Rip : So Sam after watching back every show since 2005 as we have, would you say the Express are the best team you've seen in MAW?

Sam : The best? Maybe, they're definitely up there.

Rip : So moving on.

http://s19.postimg.org/efwp9h49f/The_Architect.jpg

The Architect

Age 23 : (3 year pro)

Alignment : Heel

Gimmick : Egomaniac

Finisher : Blueprint (Arm Triangle)

San : The last of the top heels I would say was the architect of your destruction. Such a brilliant worker for his age and experience at the time. I think he had only been in the business for two or three years by then.

Rip : Three years I think.

Sam : was it three?, but what a talent, similar in style to myself when I was breaking into business.

Rip : How about face's? anymore up the top of the card back in early 2016?

http://s19.postimg.org/d252dqhqb/Miller_Fforde.jpg

Miller Fforde

Age : 23 (4 year pro)

Alignment : Face

Gimmick : Fan Favourite

Finisher : Fforde Flip Face Crusher (Backflip Reverse DDT)

Sam : Miller was our next top face. He was in a hot feud with George Wolfe and it was getting both guy's over. Miller was a good worker but he didn't seem to be improving much in ring, I remember thinking this would be a make or break year for the kid.

Rip : So Miller Fforde was not improving as fast as you would have liked. That just leaves you with Cheetah Boy and your son Greg on the face side in the main event scene, is that correct?

Sam : Pretty much, yeah.

Rip : Any other guys you had playing face or could turn to help freshen up the top of the card going into 2016?

Sam : Certainly.

http://s19.postimg.org/4wn0fyblf/Bradley_Blaze.jpg

Bradley Blaze

Age : 22 (4 year pro)

Alignment : Face

Gimmick : Cowboy

Finisher : Dallas Drop (Lifting Reverse DDT)

Sam : Bradley Blaze. A lovely young man, so respectful and hardworking. fantastic brawler with a bright, bright future. I could always see him being a good hand in any of the big three American companies or the Canadian ones for that matter.

Rip : Any more?

http://s19.postimg.org/dewgk07qr/Tyrone_Gray.jpghttp://s19.postimg.org/83hjzbvyr/Nate_De_Marcus.jpg

Tyrone Gray & Nate DeMarcus

Ages : 20 (1 year pro) & 21 (2 year pro)

Alignments : Face & Face

Gimmicks : Bubbly Babyface & Legitimate Athlete

Finisher : Rocket Launcher

Finishers : Tumbleweed & Snap Tackle (Powerful Flying Shoulder Tackle)

Sam : Yeah, Tyrone and Nate. Again bright futures but just super green. Both had great looks, raw talent and I could see them working anywhere if they progress. Nate had the size and power and Tyrone with the smaller frame had the speed. I remember being really excited about these two around this time frame.

Rip : Okay Sam that's the top of the card and prospects covered would you say?

Sam : Yeah, the main ones from what I remember.

Rip : Well as this has been a long one could you just quickly fly through the rest of the roaster and staff and then we can talk about the card for next weeks show and have a quick chat about what changes yourself and Jay had made going into 2016.

Sam : Sure thing Rip.

Sam : We struck a deal with SASHIO, a working agreement.

Rip : How come? What was the thinking behind that decision?

<strong>Rip Chord Invitational XI </strong></p><p><strong>

Attendance 580 </strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://s19.postimg.org/efwp9h49f/The_Architect.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

The Architect steps through the curtain and walks across the short catwalk to the ring. He signals for a microphone and abruptly snatches it from the hand of the ring announcer. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Architect :</strong> As you all know I have a great pedigree in this tournament. I reached the final last year and was screwed out of the trophy. I had the harder side of the bracket, you all know that.</p><p> </p><p>

The crowd boo </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Architect :</strong> QUITE. </p><p> </p><p>

The noise from the audience increases. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Architect :</strong> This year is no different but being the most superior athlete, the vastly superior wrestler and by far the most intelligent man in the whole tournament I will right the wrongs of last year and prove once and for all that the Architect of your destruction is me and I am the greatest professional wrestler to ever lace up a pair of boots. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">E+</span></strong> </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://s19.postimg.org/efwp9h49f/The_Architect.jpg</span><strong>VS</strong><span>http://s19.postimg.org/4wn0fyblf/Bradley_Blaze.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>Rip Chord Invitational Quarter Final</strong></p><p>

<strong>The Architect VS Bradley Blaze</strong></p><p> </p><p>

With that Bradley Blaze heads out to the ring with a real look of determination on his face. The Dallas cowboy is fired up and has to be held back by Jay Fair as he wants to get at the Architect before the bell has sounded. Once the ref gains control he signals for the bell and we are treated to a fast paced start to the evening. Blaze takes instant control throwing big over hand rights and stiff looking kicks. </p><p> </p><p>

The Architect rolls out the ring to regain some composure, once back in the squared circle he starts to slow the pace and takes control after raking Blaze's eyes out of the line of sight of Jay Fair. Moving the match to the mat the Architect was able to wear down the cowboy with an array of holds and submission attempts. </p><p> </p><p>

Blaze would fight to his feet and mount a comeback, hitting some high impact moves and seemingly turning the tide until he hit the Architect with spine buster (possibly a set up to the Dallas drop) but last years runner up had the awareness to pull Blaze's head into his groin upon impact and lock in the blueprint. Bradley held on longer than most (almost fighting up to one knee) but it was a foregone conclusion by this point and the Texan was forced to tap before he passed out.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Your Winner in 7:55 via submission-The Architect.</strong> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest Forthdyke-Hume :</strong> Well I must say what a jolly good display by the Architect, my pick to win the Invitational this year.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin Earnest :</strong> Apart from the rake to the eyes.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest :</strong> Stop making things up Marvin, its very unbecoming of ones self. </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://s19.postimg.org/5m5sserlf/Fujio_Narahashi.jpg</span><strong>VS</strong><span>http://s19.postimg.org/jfu5hg4r7/Deuce_Deadline.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>Rip Chord Invitational Quarter Final</strong></p><p>

<strong>Fujio Narahashi VS Deuce Deadline</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Narahashi and Deadline stand nose to nose in the centre of the ring as a chorus of NA-RA-HASH-I rings out around the arena. The building then becomes deafening as Fujio lands the first massive open hand chop, the impact echo's through the arena sending the fan's into fever pitch. Deuce hits back with a hard forearm and the two exchange blows for what seems an eternity much to the delight of the audience.</p><p> </p><p>

Deuce comes off worse and spills through the middle rope to the apron. Fujio sets Deadline up for a suplex back into the ring but Deuce wriggles free and drops to the arena floor while holding onto the right arm of Narahashi. The impact of Fujio's arm hitting the top rope sends him reeling backwards garbing his right arm in his left hand. </p><p> </p><p>

Deuce seemingly doing his homework, works over the biggest weapon of Narahashi, his lariat arm. Deuce then whips Narahashi into corner and hits a Deadliner, but instead of landing it on the jaw of Fujio he attacks the right shoulder. Deadline pulls Narahashi out of the corner and hits the ropes, as he bounces back and lifts his leg to hit a second Deadliner, Narahashi lunges at him with a huge lariat that turns Deuce inside out. Fujio screams in pain upon impact and then lets go of his clearly injured arm for long enough to hook the leg and pick up the three. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Your winner in 6:17 via pinfall-Fujio Narahashi</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">E+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> What a showing by both men but the biggest story will be can Narahashi continue in the tournament? </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest :</strong> One would have to believe not, the poor chaps arm was practically hanging off his shoulder. The biggest question I have is how did so many of these untraveled Neanderthals even know who Narahashi is?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> Stop it Ernest, you know our fan base are well educated when it comes to professional wrestling. Anyway my thoughts go out to Jay Fair as I don't envy him trying to keep control of this next one.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://s19.postimg.org/d252dqhqb/Miller_Fforde.jpg</span><strong>VS</strong><span>http://s19.postimg.org/5xn9525fn/George_Wolfe.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>Rip Chord Invitational Quarter Final</strong></p><p>

<strong>Miller Fforde VS George Wolfe</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Miller Fforde steps through the curtain and is barely two steps down the catwalk before he is jumped from behind by Wolfe. The two battle outside the ring and end up falling though the middle rope together off the catwalk into the ring, which causes Fair to wave his hands about like a madman, signalling for the bell in a desperate attempt to get this one started.</p><p> </p><p>

Although Wolfe got the jump on Fforde it is Miller who takes the early advantage. Fforde with fire in his eyes punches, kicks, chops, scratches and bites Wolfe much to the approval of the fans. Wolfe fights back catching Miller with a belly to belly if not to turn the tide at least to regain some composure. both men are back to their feet quickly and are once again exchanging blows.</p><p> </p><p>

Every time Wolfe knocks Fforde down he pops back up and you clearly see this start to bother the big man. The match goes to the outside when Wolfe is clotheslined over the tope rope. Miller tries to land a slingshot cross-body but is caught by Wolfe and rammed spine first into the ring post. George then dumps Miller onto the concrete floor with a body-slam and pulls a wooden concession table out from under the ring. He sets it up just right of where the catwalk meets the ring. </p><p> </p><p>

George rolls Miller onto the catwalk and climbs up too. Fforde is hoisted to his knees as Wolfe seems to be setting up for a power-bomb off the catwalk and through the table. Miller hits a low blow, doubling Wolfe over. Fforde rolls back into the ring and drags himself up the ropes, he leaps up onto the top rope and springboards onto Wolfe's shoulders to hurricarana the big man off the catwalk to the table below, but George displays his tremendous upper body strength and lifts Fforde back up to a power-bomb position. </p><p> </p><p>

Wolfe sends Fforde crashing to the ground trough the table. Meanwhile Fair is counting both men out seemingly unknown to the wrestlers. Wolfe (who has been staring down at Fforde with a maniacal smirk on his face) quickly snaps back to the moment and re-enters the ring as Fair reaches fourteen. Wolfe paces the ring as Fair counts the last six seconds the whole while Fforde is motionless. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Your winner in 11:28 via count out-George Wolfe</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">E+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://s19.postimg.org/5xn9525fn/George_Wolfe.jpg</span><span>http://s19.postimg.org/d252dqhqb/Miller_Fforde.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

George exits the ring and grabs two chairs from the announce desk, throwing them into the ring over the top rope. while this is going on our medic has made his way to Miller to check for injury. George jumps back into the ring, he sets both chairs up facing one and other. Wolf then jumps out to miller and sends the medic flying with a push. He then rolls Fforde back into the ring and hoists him up over his shoulder. Jay Fair begs Wolfe to stop but seconds later its too late, Wolfe hits a running power-slam through the two chairs before other workers and staff can get to the ring to stop the carnage. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> Brutal just brutal, I hope and pray that there is no serious injury sustained to that young warrior laying broken in the ring. George Wolfe is just that, a Wolf, an animal. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest :</strong> By golly if Fforde doesn't know the risks of this business he should never return. There didn't seem to be this much vexation on your part when Miller was biting poor George dear chap? </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> Biting someone in desperation and trying to end a young mans career are mills apart and you know that.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://s19.postimg.org/717dgoajn/Copperhead.jpg</span><strong>VS</strong><span>http://s19.postimg.org/v4y55gt5v/Gino_Montero.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>Rip Chord Invitational Quarter Final</strong></p><p>

<strong>Copperhead VS Gino Montero</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The fans still seem in a sombre mood (possibly reflecting on the recent event) as copperhead makes his way to the ring, that all changes though as the music of Gino Montero beams out the sound system. Everyone is on there feet and cheering as one of the finest talents in the world of professional wrestling makes his way to the ring. </p><p> </p><p>

The bell rings but you can hardly hear it as five hundred and eighty fans chant GINO, GINO, GINO, GINO over and over. Gino ever the entertainer eats it up and every subtle movement or facial expression creates an even bigger and louder reaction. Gino extends his hand in a show of respect to copperhead, who shakes Montero's hand and swiftly kicks him in the stomach almost instantly to a chorus of boo's.</p><p> </p><p>

The red avenger stays on the attack but Gino is too quick and hits a couple of Mexican arm drags followed by a head scissors takedown. Gino almost playing with Copperhead catches the red avenger with a drop toe hold which positions him chest first on the middle rope. The fan's know what's coming next as they buzz in anticipation for destiny explosion. Gino sits on the middle rope facing the fans for a second as they go bananas. He then hops back into the ring to cover Copperhead for the win.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Your winner in 7:19 via pinfall-Gino Montero</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> Gino made light work of Copperhead in the end.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest :</strong> Lets see how he fares against a beast like George Wolfe, one fears that all that prancing about like a ballerina will only infuriate Mr Wolfe. As Miller Fforde found out earlier, you don't want to infuriate Mr Wolfe.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championship</strong></p><p>

<strong>(Challengers) Gray & DeMarcus VS (Champions) The Dynamite Express </strong></p><p> </p><p>

The fans aren't afforded any rest bite as Gray and DeMarcus hit the ring. The challengers have beat the champs a couple of months back in a non title match and are hoping lighting will strike twice tonight. The champions look calm as would you if you had been a champion for fourteen months as they slowly walk to the ring giving the fans verbal along the way. </p><p> </p><p>

DeMarcus and Jones start us off with the larger DeMarcus taking control early. Once Jones is sufficiently worn down Gray makes the switch. Gray uses his high flying antics to his advantage, that is until he takes one risk too many and crashes and burns allowing Jones to tag out. Collier enters and takes control. The Express show why they have been champions for such a great length of time by using quick tags to dominate the weakened Gray.</p><p> </p><p>

Gray fights back many times but is unable to make the tag out (usually through underhand tactics by the express). finally he reverses a double team attempt with a nice flying double clothesline and makes the tag to the fired up DeMarcus. Nate hits the ring sending bodies flying left and right. The numbers game catches up to him and while Grey is on the apron trying to catch his breath the Express double team Nate to regain control. </p><p> </p><p>

The express set up Nate for the chop and change but before Jones is able to lift Nate, Gray (Back up) shoves Collier off his perch and crashing out to the arena floor. Nate reverses the fisherman's buster attempt into a front sit-out suplex while Gray climbs to the top. Nate launches Gray onto the downed Jones. Gray (the illegal man) rolls out side while Nate covers Jones for the (in the minds of many) upset victory.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> Yes, finally we have new tag champs. what a showing by DeMarcus and Gray. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest :</strong> Well I never, Jay Fair should be held up in tribunal for such blatant bending of the rules. Gray wasn't the legal man but he hit the blow that won the match. This is a disgrace. I'll be writing to my solicitor in London to get justice for the dynamite express. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> Seriously? After the express double teamed DeMarcus and Gray throughout the match, I don't know how you can have any complaints?</p><p>

And what Solicitor in London? You're from New Jersey. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest :</strong> I'll have you know I have many connections in London from my time there during my gentleman training with young master Pip.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> Gentleman training. Yeah right!</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://s19.postimg.org/efwp9h49f/The_Architect.jpg</span><strong>VS</strong><span>http://s19.postimg.org/5m5sserlf/Fujio_Narahashi.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>Rip Chord Invitational Semi Final</strong></p><p>

<strong>The Architect VS Fujio Narahashi</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The crowd are almost silent as if in a state of shock from the last match as the Architect makes his way to the ring with a cocky, confident look on his face. When Narahashi steps out the first thing you notice is his right shoulder and arm are heavily tapped up. I'm sure this is the first thing the Architect see's as it's the first thing he attacks, as if Fujio is wearing a big bull's-eye on his body. You can see from the first wristlock the Architect applies that Narahashi is in excruciating pain and its clear he will need a minor miracle to progress to the final. </p><p> </p><p>

The tempo is dictated by the Architect which he keeps to a slow, methodical pace. Every now and then Narahashi mounts a left handed comeback with open hand chops mainly but there's never enough power behind them to turn the tide. </p><p> </p><p>

Finally Narahashi is able to hit a belly to belly to catch his breath. He then hits a left handed lariat for a close two count. Narahashi looks exhausted as he lays next to the Architect who almost serpent like, slivers into a position to lock in the blueprint. This sparks Narahashi back to life as he jumps to his feet, but with the blueprint locked in and his right arm left dangling, its easy for the Architect to transition to an arm-bar leaving Narahashi two choices. Tap or snap. He wisely take choice number one and the match is over. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Your winner in 13:17 via submission-The Architect</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">E+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest :</strong> My pick advances, one does enjoy being right.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> I think if Narahashi wasn't injured then the Architect has major problems. What a fantastic competitor Fujio Narahashi is and what a pleasure its been to watch him compete, I'm sure as you can tell by the fans giving him a standing ovation and chanting his name behind me, he would be welcome back with open arms any time he wants to return. Best of luck Fujio.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://s19.postimg.org/5xn9525fn/George_Wolfe.jpg</span><strong>VS</strong><img alt="Gino_Montero.jpg" data-src="https://s19.postimg.org/v4y55gt5v/Gino_Montero.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

<strong>Rip Chord Invitational Semi Final </strong></p><p>

<strong>George Wolfe VS Gino Montero</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Much like the previous bout, on paper this is good enough to be the final. After Narahashi being eliminated the support for Gino is deafening, as the Narahashi vs Montero dream match is no more the fans are desperate to see Gino go on to win the tournament now. Standing in his way a beast of a man in George Wolfe. </p><p> </p><p>

Montero does all he can to stay out of the grasp of Wolfe, using basement dropkicks and MMA style low kicks to weaken the tree trunk legs of Wolfe. Montero can only run for so long and once Wolfe has him cornered the assault begins.</p><p> </p><p>

Wolfe dominates for long periods with powerful slams and painful looking holds, Montero can only muster short burst of offence before Wolfe regains momentum. Wolfe sensing the end lifts Montero to his shoulder. The crowd gasp in fear, praying Gino will find a way out. He doesn't and Wolfe hits the running power-slam </p><p> </p><p>

one...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

two...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

No Gino gets his foot on the bottom rope.</p><p> </p><p>

Wolfe looks incensed and after complaining to Jay Fair about a seemingly slow count he goes to pick Gino up for a second power-slam but Gino rolls him up in a small package.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

one...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

two...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

three... </p><p> </p><p>

Gino gets the win and quickly slides out of the ring and disappears through an ecstatic crowd to avoid a post match beat down, with Jay Fair doing similar in sprinting down the catwalk to the back as Wolfe bounces around the ring, kicking and head butting turnbuckles.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Your winner in 11:18 via pinfall-Gino Montero</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> Gino's done it, he's in the final. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest :</strong> A travesty is upon us once more, today is a sad day for pro wrestling fans across the globe. Yet again Jay Fair misses a big handful of George's tights that Gino was grabbing. That does it I'm writing to the queen, something must be done about this incompetent fool. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> There was no handful of tights, you go ahead and write to the queen, this will be interesting. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest :</strong> It will be interesting, I happen to know Elizabeth is a big George Wolfe fan and I wouldn't be surprised if she calls for the heads of those cheats Montero and Fair.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mid Atlantic Championship</strong></p><p>

<strong>Cheetah Boy VS Greg Gauge</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The fans are back to there feet as wild thing by the Troggs blasts out to signal that Cheetah Boy is about to make his entrance. The fans sing and clap along as the wildest man on the roster dances his way to the ring. Gauge is looking far more serious and business like as he makes his entrance. Both men shake hands as Jay Fair (visually sweaty after his run) waves for the bell.</p><p> </p><p>

As you would expect the match is a pretty technical affair, with Greg mostly coming out on top of the early exchanges. Cheetah tries a variety of different strategies but weather its grappling, striking or flying Greg Gauge seems to have the upper hand.</p><p> </p><p>

As the match continues Greg chips away at the legs and back of Cheetah, gradually slowing him down and making it easier to dominate the match. Cheetah manages to send Greg tumbling to the outside with a hurricarana and then hit a nice pluncha to follow up but before long Greg regained control and locked in the proton lock forcing Cheetah Boy to concede defeat.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Your winner in 15:50 via submission-And still Mid Atlantic Champion, Greg Gauge</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest :</strong> Well I wish I could say I'm disappointed that Gauge won but having a jester like Cheetah Boy as the face of MAW would just be a joke in extremely bad taste. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> Cheetah gave all he could but Greg Gauge proved once more what a brilliant wrestler he is.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://s19.postimg.org/efwp9h49f/The_Architect.jpg</span><strong>VS</strong><span>http://s19.postimg.org/v4y55gt5v/Gino_Montero.jpg</span></p><p>

<strong>Rip Chord Invitational Final</strong></p><p>

<strong>The Architect VS Gino Montero</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Both men are in the ring and the fans are on their feet, of the five hundred and eighty in attendance I don't think one person is rooting for the Architect. Sam Keith takes a seat beside the announce team, trophy by his side as Jay Fair calls for the bell. </p><p> </p><p>

Both competitors look extremely focused as well as cagey. Neither man is in a hurry to lock up. When they finally do the Architect scores the first waist lock take down which is sharply reversed by Gino much to the pleasure of those in attendance as they cheer for the Mexican superstar. Both men seem evenly matched throughout the opening exchanges but that all changes when the Architect is able to reverse a northern lights suplex attempt into a big DDT allowing him to take firm control. </p><p> </p><p>

The Architect works over the neck of Gino by dropping him on his head with a side suplex and followed up by a snap dragon suplex but could only score a two count. He then hits a trifecta of rolling German suplexes, the last one a pin attempt with a bridge but again only gets two. </p><p> </p><p>

Gino turns the tide by reversing a top rope superplex attempt by sweeping one foot and crotching the Architect, he then hits a beautiful reverse rana off the top but it takes him some time to make the cover and the Architect kicks out on two. </p><p> </p><p>

Both men fight to their feet and exchange blows until Gino see's the Architect charge at him, Gino drops down and hits a drop toe hold leaving the Architect sprawled over the middle rope facing the fans.</p><p> </p><p>

bang!</p><p> </p><p>

Gino hits destiny explosion and makes the cover, hooking the leg for good measure.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

one...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

two...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

No the Architect kicks out. Gino sensing victory climbs to the top rope as the crown all seemingly take a deep breath simultaneously. He waits for the Architect to reach his feet, then....</p><p> </p><p>

Montero press. Gino lands in a pinning position on the Architects chest. the Architects legs fly up in the air and Gino grabs one of them too.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

one...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

two...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

No, the Architect reached out and grabbed the bottom rope. Gino (looking frustrated and shocked) goes to pick up his foe but the Architect reaches up and locks in the blueprint. Gino wriggles and in a desperate attempt almost aimlessly lunges out a leg which more by chance than anything else hits the bottom rope. </p><p> </p><p>

Gino's first to his feet and when the Architect rises he walks straight into a Gino brainbuster. With that Montero goes up top and then hits a second Montero press, this time in the centre of the ring. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

one...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

two...</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

three.....</p><p> </p><p>

We have a winner. Gino collapse forwards as the Maryland crowed go ape. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#A0522D;">D-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> What a match. What happened to your pick then Ern?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest :</strong> Yet another mugging, I, I, I'm just lost for words. Shenanigans, I call shenanigans. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> Please Ernest sit back down.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest :</strong> Why, this is an outrage. Good Sam Keith is getting up, if he has an ounce of honesty in him he'll reverse the decision.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Marvin :</strong> For what, he won fair and square. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ernest :</strong> I'll bloody give you fair and square in a minute young man. SHENANIGANS!!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> It gives me great pleasure to award you with the 11th Rip Chord Invitational, Gino Montero, ladies and gentleman. </p><p> </p><p>

Sam Keith points at Gino as he gives him the big gold cup and then raises his arm before he is passed a microphone by the announcer.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Gino :</strong> I like to say thank you the fans. </p><p>

You make me feel welcome and you show me many love and support. </p><p>

If you have me I want to come back and do more match for you. </p><p> </p><p>

The crowd cheer. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Gino :</strong> I'm very, very proud to win Rip Chord Invitational and proud to meet such magnifico fans and wrestle such talent. Thank you, gracias, gracias. </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://s19.postimg.org/e35b35w8j/Rip_Chord.jpg</span><span>http://s19.postimg.org/d0v4kn0kj/Sam_Keith.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> Welcome to the old school wresting podcast, I'm your host, former professional wrestler Rip Chord and I'm joined as always by my former foe Sam Keith. What's going on Sam? How are you? </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> Hey Rip I'm good, yourself?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> I'm great thank's. I just want to say great show. Obviously I've seen it before but I forgot how hot the crowd where. Do you remember the fan's being super up for the show that night? </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> I do, I do. It was when Narahashi and Deuce where in the ring the place was deafening. The noise was worthy of any main event. I was a little shocked because I didn't expect so many fan's to know who Narahashi was let alone care that much about him and show him that level of support.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> What about his opponent did he play a part in that heat for the match.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> Deuce, of course the fans loved that big bastard. For a heel who wasn't an exceptional worker they just wanted to see him all the time. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> Funny you should say that because we've had some tweets, we asked you the listeners to tweet us your predictions for the show if you where watching along with us and a lot of you did. @123Kidd had Deuce to go the distance and win the whole thing was that ever considered? </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> no.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> Why not? </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> Ha ha. If we had put Deuce in three matches in one night back then we would have need to carry him out on a stretcher. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> Why's that Samuel? </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> Deuce was a bouncer in a strip club up north before he came to train at the boot camp. He's 6'4-6'5, 260lbs plus, he's a legit badass. He doesn't run, no cardio. If we put him in any match longer than five to six minutes the guy would have been blowing sky high. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> Would you say the reason he was so relatable to the fans was because he was just being himself out there?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> Oh no doubt, he lived the gimmick man. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> Another thing i noticed about the show was the pacing, It was a pretty action packed show. Did you worry at any point you would burn the fans out by not giving them a break between big matches?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> Errrr, no not really. We had the title match that was just filler before the main event so we knew the fans wouldn't be super hot for that but it's hard with one night tournaments because you're gonna have main event level guy's on the show two, three times and they're gonna get the crowd going so there's not a lot you can do.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> So the Mid Atlantic title match was just filler? How did that match come about?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam:</strong> We needed to take up some time between the semi's and the final and Greg and Cheetah weren't booked. We thought about having those two take on the Frat Pack but in the end Jay and I decided to go with the title match. I think because the semi's where such high quality the face vs face match would generate less heat and bring the crowd back down to be ready for the final. We knew Gino would get a positive reaction but like i said Fujio was a surprise so it kinda worked out perfectly in the end.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> Speaking of Gino, was it always the plan to have him come in and win it? I say that because @KnowYourEnemy and Jaysin both picked him to win on Twitter and it seems like he was the peoples favourite or the easy booking choice to go over, what say you?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> No he wasn't, as you know MAW is a bit of a revolving door of talent so it kinda makes long term booking a bit tricky so most of what we decide is on the fly. We knew out of our roster who we wanted to get over and we just had to find the best way to do that. The decision to have Gino win it was made the night before. At that point it was a coin toss between him and the Architect and originally we had Wolfe pencilled in to beat Narahashi in the final, so no it wasn't a case of let's bring him in to win.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> So if you're trying to get your guys over why not have them win?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> I think the feeling at the time was we didn't have many viable babies at the top of the card. Gino was the guy most likely to take over from Champagne Lover in Mexico in the future so having him win in years to come you could refer back to him winning it adding prestige to the tournament. The two that we focused on where Wolfe and The Architect and they both got their shine plus it left unanswered questions we could come back to. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> What questions?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> Could the architect beat Narahashi if he wasn't injured? Could Gino Beat Wolfe again? Would Gino ever come back and challenge for the title? Who's the biggest badass George of Fujio? It just opened up future main events for shows down the road and at the time we needed that. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> A match that sparked some controversy was the the tag team title match. The live crown seemed shocked as was I watching it the first time and I wasn't the only one. Out of all the listeners predictions on twitter it was the Deuce Deadline guy 123Kidd that guessed correctly. We also on our hashtag #AskSamKeith had a question from @CobheadJake wondering why you made the switch? So tell us Samuel, why did you feel like this was this the right time to move the straps off the express? </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> It felt like now or never. Gray and DeMarcus where the only face team who could win it at that time and it be viable so we either pull the trigger or let the Express carry the belts for the next six months minimum to build someone else up, also we wanted to shock people and get them talking. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> By the crowd reaction it felt like maybe they didn't want to see the change happen then. Did you get that feeling?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> no, not really. I think just fan's had been so conditioned to them winning all the time, seeing the express lose twice in a row was just unimaginable. For me fourteen months is a long time and we had done everything we could with the run and we just thought change it before it becomes stale and it could start hurting their momentum. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> Why would having someone being champion hurt their momentum? </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> Like i said if was getting stale and the fan's don't like having things stuffed down their throats. Now the Express where chasing giving them a new dynamic and we had the Sam Keith Classic coming that they had never won, they didn't need the straps for that. The belts just helped Nate and Tyrone more. That was our thinking at the time I guess. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> Well thanks Sam. We hope that answered your question Jake? and remember folks if you want to be apart of the show tweet in your questions for Sam at #AskSamKeith and i'm sure Samuel will try his best to answer them for you. Could be favourite food, film, music, match, what was going on in the wrestling world at that time just send em in and we'll read em out. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> Safe to say the show could be considered a success?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam:</strong> I think that was the general overall feeling, yeah. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> Was there ever a time when you thought things weren't gonna go right or was you nervous about how the show was gonna be received? </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> Not nervous, we where happy with the booking of the tournament and we've discussed the other matches earlier. </p><p> </p><p>

Oh I was pissed before the show! I'm trying to get everyone ready and give them their cues, Jay decides this is the perfect time to call wrestlers court because Keith wouldn't pay his share on a rental car with Josh, Nate and Tyrone. You've got Fujio and Gino looking at each other like wtf, Nate and Tyrone are bitchin' their asses off, then Copperhead walks in an hour and a half late. I thought i was going to explode.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> Did you tell Copperhead off?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> No, I took a deep breath and told him I had booked him in a big match and said this is how you choose to repay me, now go get changed. Something along those lines anyway. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rip :</strong> What happened to Keith?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Sam :</strong> I can't remember, Knowing Jay he would have made him pay the lot. </p><p> </p><p>

Loved the podcast stuff again, I wasn't expecting to see my name in there with the tag title question haha. I'll be sure to try and get involved with future ones too.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the podcast. I had a lot of fun writing it and I was pretty happy with how it came out for a first attempt at a full podcast write up. This is only my second attempt at a diary, so it's a bit of a learning curve for me. My first was a few months back and although I only wrote one full show, I enjoyed myself so much. It just made me enjoy TEW in a way I had never previously been able to before. I think writing what I was thinking just brought everything to life for me and I don't think I can ever play the game again if I'm not documenting it as I play.

I didn't want to stop writing my first diary but I lost a load of work and when I tried to rewrite it I couldn't get it as good as my first attempt and I just lost motivation. I've been itching to play for a while now so I knew I would have to either go back to my first diary or start a new one, I was toying with a few ideas but I decided on MAW and then I got the idea for the pod and It just started to come together.

The podcast is really helping me understand why I book a certain way because I don't analyse my decisions, so writing why is interesting and helpful to me. When I stumbled across TEW roughly eight years ago, like most people on here I would watch WWE and be like "This is rubbish, I could do much better" so playing the game I quickly found out I couldn't and i was clueless. Coming on here and reading the diaries (especially the ones where they explained the booking decisions after shows) really helped me learn to book myself. So i wanted to do the same and the podcast was a good way to do that.

I also want to use it to build the real life characters of people in the C-verse. I love watching documentaries that look into the real lives of wrestlers. Scott Hall and Jake Roberts are two that spring to mind so I wanted a way to do that and the podcast fit the bill. I shamefully have never followed any long term diary on the boards from start to finish (Just dipping in and out of them) so i'm flattered and extremely grateful that anyone would follow one of mine. I wanted a way to say thank you so I thought I would encourage readers to get involved by asking questions on the podcast. It also gives me an extra way to be creative and develop bits of peoples characters that I wouldn't have otherwise.

Anyhow the next show should be up tomorrow and thanks again for the kind words, I appreciate it. :D
