Per my initial strategy/kayfabe background, we are scheduled to run eight more shows over the next two months. To keep my costs low, I plan on keeping the first five shows self-contained to the round robin matches. I’m going to keep my options open for the last three shows in March.

 

The only thing that’s written in stone is the last show will have the title match as the main event. I have an overall idea for the main events in mind, but I like to be flexible as the game can throw obstacles in my way as well give me additional good things like chemistry notes.

 

Note: It looks like not a lot of people are familiar with the roster, if not the T-Verse in general. With this being the case, I’ve added a more in-depth preview of the roster as well as the round robin structure and schedule.

 

Please let me know if you have any questions or requests going forward. There is going to come a point where my Foolish Commentary is going to start to get light. I've thought about adding a couple of small tutorials/insights on how I produce and maintain my diary, but even then there are only so many things to talk about.

 

 

2016 NEO Generational Title Tournament

 

Tournament Rules

1. Each wrestler will fight one another in singles competition over the course of five events.

2. Winning the match nets a wrestler 3 points.

3. A draw gain both wrestlers 1 point.

4. A disqualification will penalize a wrestler 1 point. The opponent will gain 3 points for the win. A double disqualification will give both wrestlers a negative point.

5. The two wrestlers with the highest number of points will face off for the title.

6. If two wrestlers are tied for second, then the tie-breaker will be the result of their match. If their match was a draw, then both wrestlers will advance.

In addition, I also added the wrestlers as minor wrestlers in each other storyline with Adam being added as a minor worker in both storylines. I did it so that each storyline will always be moved forward on each show. <em>So after two draws and an angle were Chris specifically points out that he´s style isn´t suited into this tournament, I finally start to figure out (hopefully) that he´s style is to try to slowly wear opponents down. Kind of same with Lobo who has proven to be quite vicious with his attacks, even getting himself disqualified once. Now how I´m I planning to utilization all this... actually I don´t think it´s helps me at all on this one since I´m not sure if this is another draw for King or if Lobo is getting himself a DQ. I go with ladder simply because I feel that Lobo´s character wouldn´t take well on being on standstill with another wrestler and could easily become overly frustrated and thus throwing potential win away.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Due to a combination of real life taking my time this weekend and me forgetting that I needed to actually look at TEW’s data to get all of the information I need, the monthly update will not be able to be produced today. I still want to do something, so I thought I’d talk a bit more about how I manage to write/produce the diary.

 

The first thing that I do is create a place that I can take notes. For a while now, my program of choice has been Microsoft OneNote. The program is set up like an old school notebook. You start with a “book”, which then has section groups and sections, within these sections you can have multiple pages. Each page is more or less the same as a Word or Google Doc (there are some differences, but they serve the same purpose for this example). In terms of this diary, this post will be on one page of the “RtG – CAN” section with the “TEW” section group in my “General” book.

 

After setting up the notebook, I will then start planning out the game. This means different things depending on the promotion. For blank starts like this one, it’s figure out who to hire, while for existing promotions it’s seeing who the promotion has and where they are in the world.

 

In any case, there is going to come a point where you start planning out the events. When that happens, I will create a new page and start outlining the show(s). I start with the angles and storylines that instantly come to mind. Once I have that down, I will then start to note and/or fill in major issues or holes within the card outlines. I’ll check to make sure that there aren’t timing issues with the storylines. For example, maybe Wrestler A is supposed to assault Wrestler B on Show #5, but it doesn’t make sense because Wrestler B is supposed to save Wrestler C in the main event. Another example could be that show #6 and #7 don’t have any matches on them, but #5 and #8 are full of storyline matches and angles.

 

Once I have the backbone of the cards worked out, I’ll start fleshing out the first couple of shows. The number depends on many factors, including, but not limited to: the size of the rosters, the amount of shows per month, and the lengths of the shows. For this diary, this is the process that I took:
  • Wrote down the initial storylines that I wanted to run: Generational Title Tournament and both sets of qualifiers that lead to it.

  • Completely mapped out the round robin (I’ll go through this process on a later day), booking them throughout all of February and the first show of March. This lead to full match cards for shows 5 through 9. I also booked the main event of show 12 as my finals.

  • Knowing who I want in the round robin, I added place holders for each main event in January (e.g. Ryan Strong over ??? for show 2).

  • Next, I booked the wildcard qualifiers in a similar manner. I knew Jim and Jon were going to qualify and after seeing the amount of card space I had, settled on the single elimination qualifiers. This filled up shows 1 and 2. I originally had the finals be on show 3 before settling on show 4.

  • With the storyline matches set, I filled in the main events for shows 10 and 11 and completed show 3 with the tag match and an Adam Sullivan victory. I left the undercard for the last three shows unbooked, allowing me to more easily react to want the game throws at me (e.g. chemistry notes, injuries, and new debuts).

  • Finally, I looked through the worker pool to finalize the January shows.

 

When this process is done, I end up with something like this:

Finally, I will take these notes and turn them into what you see. At the start of the diary, I will come up with a format for the updates, the angles, and the matches and save a template into a page in OneNote. I will then copy and paste the appropriate parts of the template as many times as needed. Using the example above, I’d copy and paste the match template three times before copying the angle template two times, in-between the matches. Next, I’ll copy and paste the notes from the game into the updated template before expanding on anything that needs it (usually this means fleshing out the angles). Finally, I update the pictures and then proof-read the whole thing.

The second month is in the books. Before getting into the changes, let’s touch on something that was an issue last month, Lee Harden. Last month he kept showing up hungover and I tried to fix it via fines. This didn't make him the happiest person in the world and Lee and Jim ended up with simmering tension. I was thinking of releasing him, but didn’t. This turned out to be a great idea as nothing happened with him this month, saving me around $800 dollars. I’m sure that this situation is going to rear its ugly head sooner than later, but hopefully I’m in a better situation to let him go when it does.

And this is why I recommend front loading shows start of this type of a game. We are still losing a lot of money, but you will notice that the sponsorship revenue is up by $900 and the upcoming estimated sponsorship money has increase by $1,000. With a few more shows under our belt, we will eventually get to a place where that money will rise to the point that it will make a dent into the debt we are currently accruing.

 

On a side note, I don’t know if I’m going to ever get run cheaper shows than I did this month ($1,510).

By popular demand, here are the popularity ratings for our workers. While I am somewhat of a conservative booker in terns of protecting overness, TEW 2016 has given me more tools to allow for more variance (e.g. the flash pinfall road agent note and an improved keep strong note). To be honest, this is the first time that I’ve even looked at the overness.

 

Strong is currently leading the club house with 17 overness in our home region, but the rest are not that far behind. The only thing that surprises me is Adam Sullivan’s lack of overness, but that just because I’m used to seeing him have around 30 overness in the States.

The loser of the match will be out of the chase and the remaining three will fight during the show after that under the same rules. <em>Well, I wasn´t honestly expecting this result from the tournament even if I toyed with the idea but I still keep Strong vs. King finals as the most likely outcome which of course leaves Nash or Lobo on loss duty here. I go with Nash simply because I feel that heels working together on this one (or cheating on some other means since them working together might not fit into their characters) could establish them as well... heels and then have their alliance blow up in next show were one ends up being eliminated.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<em>Heatly has so far been the more active in-ring guy and I assume that it will continue so I actually would give him a win here via underhanded tactics espesially since he´s more over from the two (not that it matters too much since popularity is easy to gain until you hit that 17 mark and neither aren´t there yet).</em></p><p> </p><p>

2nd Chance Semi-Finals</p><p>

<em>I might have missed it somewhere but I have no idea if winner of this 2nd chance tournament is getting a title shot or roster spot or what. Either way, I pick Martinez on this one mostly because he impressed against Lobo in his only match so far with you, being part of the first E+ match rating for NEO while Zhi had a more forgettable match with Nash as he´s only match so far.</em></p>
