Red Star Combat - Globalverse

Recommended Posts

Hello and Welcome to Red Star Combat, the one and only place to see fighters of all shapes, styles and nationalities compete to prove who is better. From behind the red curtain in glorious Moscow we aim to bring blood lust and the thrill of combat to the global stage.

Opening its doors in the dawn of 1989 RSC started with 3 divisions, Heavyweight, Light Heavyweight and Middleweight. To kick start each division a tournament would be held to showcase top fighters.

SportTube would host Glorious Red Star Combat to the world to ensure quick world hegemony.

First event was planned for mid February, featuring a Heavyweight Tournament. Our meagre budget of $5000 was quickly diminished in advertisement before we switched to a smaller marketing level.

All events are streamed to twitch and later placed on Youtube. I will post here first telling the start of the stream and then later write the reports.

Both were to be carried by Euro Cable Sports 1.

The month of November went fast with minimal signings, we also booked RSC 8 for January of 1990. A bit of a snooze fest both fighters tired quite early although Veeti Kuqi did receive a broken jaw for his efforts. Lev Mikhaylichenko did enough to win via Unanimous Decision. Rated Decent.

Second fight featured a Heavyweight bout between Gunnar Nilsson and Manol Sirakov.

Nilsson was quick out of the gates instantly taking Sirakov down before applying a kimura, then a armbar before finally making Sirakov tap with an Americana. The fight was rated Great and won FOTN.

Our third bout featured another two Heavyweights. Monty Olivier faced Rodion Pronin. The fight didn't last long with Rodion Pronin managing to submit Monty Olivier via Kimura in 1:21 of Round 1.

The fight was rated Good.

Co Main Event

Our Co Main Event was a Middleweight Fight between Greg Atteveld and Mac Fuller.Fuller was the slight favourite coming into the match. The first round featured a lot of punches form the boxer Mac Fuller and not much form the BJJ Greg Atteveld.

The second round looked very much the same untll the third minute of the fight when Fuller landed a fantastic right cross that knocked Atteveld down. A few moments later and a few strikes to the unresponsive Atteveld resulted in the referee calling the match.

Mac Fuller beats Greg Atteveld via TKO (Strikes) at 3:56 of Round 2. The fight was rated Good and won Fuller K-O of the night.

Main Event

Finally it was time for our Main Event. It was another Heavyweight bout and it featured Jeff 'The Rock' Carlton and 'The Brixton Butcher' Stafford Alois. Both fighters had fought in our first event back in February with Alois winning the HW Tournament and Carlton beating Rick Stanley.

Carlton was the very slight favourite to win. The first of 5 rounds started promising for Alois landing roundhouse kicks and a head kick, Carlton managed to get a takedown and spent a few minutes sat atop Alois. The referee stood them up and Alois went back on the offensive landing several shots winning himself the first round.

The second round echoed the first. Carlton was able to do some damage on the ground this time however landing several big punches whilst Alois was turtled up following a failed scramble. Carlton took the second round.

Round 3 started with an immediate take down attempt from Carlton, unable to get it he retained Alois' leg and used his strength to push Alois to the cage. Some dirty boxing ensued whilst they were in the clinch. The referee split them and Carlton went straight for the takedown again and this time got it. Alois managed to scramble this time but was immediately pushed up against the cage.

Another round for Carlton.

Round 4 slowed down the momentum of the fight. Both fighters tiring were happy to clinch for the majority of the round. That is until shortly before the last minute when Carlton scooped up Alois for the slam ending up in side control. Immediately attempting the Arm Triangle Carlton was unable to get it and Round 4 ended.

Alois seemed doomed and indeed in the fifth and final round he didn't manage to accomplish much, he landed a right that cut Carlton under his eye and that was about it. The round expired with some clinching and not much else. The judges gave the fight a score of 49-46.

The winner by Unanimous Decision : Jeff Carlton. The fight was rated good.

This brought RSC6 to an end. Another minimal rise in popularity (0.6) and another big source of profit 130,000 means that we may have to switch to Sportstube soon. In other news XCC started up following RSC6. Their CEO VInce Whiteman spoke of shaking up the MMA world.
