There was too much on my mind to fish. After being publicly fired on WWF Monday Night Raw by Vince McMahon, life wasn't he greatest. See, once Vince purchased WCW, I knew my time was over. I did some shows with WWA over in Australia, not it was nothing to shake a stick at. "Jeff. Jeff, come over here." I knew it was coming. My Father. It was only a matter of time before he brought up wrestling. How could he not? It's in his blood. It's in my blood. "Jeff, you know Bob. He had some concerns about your work with WWA overseas. We both think there could be more." More? What is he talking about? My contract with WCW was terminated on live TV, by the only other US company I could work for that made sense. "Jeff. Listen. This industry thrives on choice. On competition. Whether Vince McMahon has 3 weekly TV shows or 7 weekly TV shows, it doesn't change the fact that it's HIS company running those shows. It's limiting competition. So, what do you say we add to that competition." I stared off into the lake for a moment before I even said anything. "We'd cut the garbage, and re-focus on wrestling, but not the wrestling of the past decade. Something new. We wouldn't need women in pillow fights to gain fans, we'd gain fans by in-ring performance." Clearly, this is something I've been thinking of. Just then, he passed over a packet. "Son, you sign this, and we start a new journey. You sign this, you step up to Vince McMahon. Son, it don't matter if it's WCW, WWF or New Japan. You are the chosen one for a reason." Things got easier as I was able to secure a financial backer, and had a little more money to work with. The general consensus for what I was aiming to do was intrigue. WCW just folded, something no one expected four years ago, so it seems crazy to start a brand new promotion.
