Dorian
Howdy folks. You may not know me, but I've lurked around for a long time. I've been playing since the days of EWR and I figured that I could finally, fi-na-lly, give back to the TEW community. This is my first time doing this, so if I created this thread wrong, I apologize. For the CornellVerse, I'm creating a mod called the Women's Pro Wrestling Alliance. The Women's Pro Wrestling Alliance will add 5 new female only companies to the database, introduce new female wrestlers to the game, and bump the in-ring only skills of many of the female wrestlers in the game. These companies will be placed into an Alliance of the same name as the mod. Here's the companies that this mod is going to provide. Fabulosa Lucha Feminina Northern Mexico, Mexico Current Background - Juana Flores created the Fabulosa Lucha Feminina as a way to give young luchadoras a place to build their wrestling careers and to have a place to work towards getting signed by the more well established brands. The Fabulosa Feminina wrestling is a way of life and a way to spread the joys of luchadora wrestling! Owner - Juana Flores League of Exciting Wrestling Demoiselles France, Europe Current Background - With so many different European languages to deal with, LEWD decided on the natural language that everyone who loves wrestling understands. Why wrestling of course. Built entirely on opponents squaring off against one another, going against two or even three others as well! This company almost comes across more as a mixed martial arts company than a wrestling company. Owner - Nan Roux Sheila's Homely Outback Wrestling Central, Australia Current Background - Sheila's Homely Outback Wrestling is a company that was built on simply having fun and letting the audience just enjoy the zany things that will happen in the ring. There’s nothing too goofy or insane for this company to have happen. Owner - Sheila Batch Women's Pro Wrestling Central, British Isles Current Background - WPW provides two parts British Strong Style and the other part Goofy Lucha. Mixed together, it comes out into their unique style of Intense Family Action. Owner - Vera Lowsley Valley Championship Wrestling British Columbia, Canada Current Background - From the British (Columbia) Valleys, comes the High Flying Defying company! This company’s objective is to provide you with a little piece of everything that there is to have of wrestling and to make you go “hey, I want more”. Owner - Joy Smash (Joy Smith) I will fully admit that I haven't written in eons and my graphical skills aren't at the best I can either. So please excuse my poor writing and logos (also photobucket watermarks). I'm hoping that the closer I get to launch, the writing and logos will look much better as I'll have more practice at it. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please let me know. Oh. And to answer some questions you may or may not already have. 1) Will it only be these 5 companies? These 5 companies are the backbone of the mod, but there is a good chance that American and Japan will get companies. I will not create a new company for Japan, but rather start up WINNOW, whereas I would create a brand new company for America. It really depends on how much I need to build and what needs to go into it. 2) Why did you not use CWWF for Canada? This decision was made because the backstory of the mod is that 5 young wrestlers decided to create their own companies creating the Women's Pro Wrestling Alliance. As they all will not have a lot of wealth, the companies would at best be Small (because locals just die in 2016). CWWF feels more like someone with wealth or backing would have created it. Therefore, it is still going to be its Regional self. If anything, it would probably be someone like Tamara, Eve or Emma being the person who runs it. 3) Will you modify any existing companies like you have wrestlers? There's a good chance of this. CWWF might come into play, TCW is another prime target, 21CW, etc.. The only problem is that with each company I will need to add their own set of wrestlers to the game. Thereby adding more time and effort to the database. I'll first get this mod to a point in which I am comfortable with before deciding for this or against this. I say good chance though, as I already copied and modified TCW's Action title into the TCW Female Action title and just let them raid the female rosters. 4) We know how many companies, but how many wrestlers will be added to the database? I currently have 62 planned out for the database at this time. 5 owners/wrestlers, 1 referee (back when this was going to be a single company) and 56 wrestlers. At this time, only the owners have been added to the database. Each company needs roughly 15 wrestlers to survive, so the bare minimum is 75. Each company will probably have 18 to start with, so that brings it up to 90 minimum. What will likely happen though is that I give each region 50 new female wrestlers to help each location out. That will mean approximately 350 wrestlers will likely be created. I'm probably looking at around 50 or so non-ring talent, so the database will likely be 400-425ish additions, I would suppose. The 18 per roster will count towards the 50 for each region. I have to work smarter, not harder. This does not mean though that all 18 VCW wrestlers Wrestlers within the 5 companies will not be region locked, as some will be working outside of their home area. Those that are not within a company will be region locked. Should I add make any changes to companies already in the game, that will add in on top of those numbers. 5) Will these new wrestlers have pictures? Unfortunately, they will not. I do not have the resources to give these new wrestlers their own pictures. 6) Do you plan for a TEW2020 update? First, let's get this mod out the door! LOL. That said, it would be a WPWA Volume 2 if anything. Rather than a direct port of this mod. So it would be 4 years after the events that lead to the creation of the WPWA. 7) You said only one company was meant originally. It was LEWD, wasn't it? On the contrary, I actually started with a company that isn't any of these. One thing lead to another and I scrapped that company, and decided to work on the idea of the WPWA that was forming in my head. Though I didn't call it WPWA at the time. The companies came into being as such: Peach Valley Wrestling, Fabulosa Lucha Feminina, Melbourne Women's Wrestling, United Pro Wrestling and Excellent Women's Fighting. The wrestling styles were also very much different at this point in time (except FLF). From there, I started the natural progression into the current names and styles. Peach Valley Wrestling transformed into Valley Championship Wrestling, as British Columbia has had a peach valley in years. There are still valleys though, so I went with that. LEWD came into being after I thought of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. And no. I did not realize what I had done with the initials until I was actually building the logo and went "oh no... Oh well, might as well work with it". United Pro Wrestling turned into Women's Pro Wrestling, more because I wanted a company to have the name sake of the alliance. I also didn't feel like moving it to the US, so I kept it in Britain. Sheila Outback Wrestling took a long time for me to get to its current name. It was basically, change this here, that there, and when I finally settled on the company being a comedy company, it suddenly went click to do the same with the name. Releases - What To Expect Alpha - Just Companies, Starting Wrestlers Beta - Free Agent Wrestlers, Balancing Gamma - Touch Ups, Further Balancing Omega - Final Release, Any Mistakes If you have any further comments or questions, please feel free to add them here. Gods I'm nervous to post this. Edit 1: Moved logos to imgur from photobucket. Edit 2: I modified Sheila Outback Wrestling into Sheila's Homely Outback Wrestling. While LEWD was intentional, having a female company called SOW was not. Ugh. Why did I not realize that until recently? Edit 3: Updated with link to the Alpha of the Mod. Hoping to gather some feedback and to see what people think.
fullMETAL
As a quick suggestion from the giddy-up: I highly suggest you host your images somewhere other than PhotoBucket.

Imgur works well as a host and embedder, but will scramble your filename.

Google Drive works well to keep them 100% intact, but trying to embed them for previewing is a total pain, so just use it as the download host.

Having your own website also works, but it requires you to actually have your own website to do it, and certain web-hosts will scramble your images' filenames for no discernible reason.
Dorian
Thanks fullMETAL! When I originally did this up, I didn't realize photobucket does this lame thing. I have an imgur account so I'm using those links instead of what's already there. My bad! Its okay if they scramble the file names, as I'm just showing off the logos as they currently are done up. Those aren't the finalized versions, though they'll probably look something very similar to those when I'm done. About the only two logos I feel confident about are SOW and WPW. ...and I just now realized that Sheila Outback Wrestling initials make up SOW. T_T Ugh. Now I need to change that. I'll figure something out. Again, thanks for the help fullMETAL. I appreciate it. Now back to plugging away at the rosters and changing a logo. I'm up to 60ish people thought up, so getting closer to meeting the minimum amount of wrestlers required.
Dorian
So I thought I would give a quick morning update for the progress. *yawn* Stayed up a little too late working on this, me thinks.

Did an update to Sheila Outback Wrestling and because of the dumb initials (how did I not see that), and turned it into Sheila's Homely Outback Wrestling. Now Sheila's the name of the owner and I'll update the background for the company. I so love the idea I now have for this company, the background will be updated and you can look forward to it. You can currently see the updated logo above.

As far as the database work goes, I'll start inputting the company rosters later today. I have them created with a few staffing exceptions. After getting the stats, names and the like in, I'll probably spend the rest of the day tweaking stats, filling in the backstories of the characters, fleshing out the companies and building the stage for this mod.

If I'm lucky, and I don't break anything, I could have something up for testing by next week.
Dorian
So a minor update. I fell behind due to real life things, so I'll be lucky if I get a test file out this week. I still got 4 companies and some free agents to do up after all.

Though as you can tell, the good news is that FLF has been fully added into the database! I decided to go all in on them and get at least one company completed. So every member has a background, gimmicks and stats. Only thing (I think) I'm missing is adding in move sets, but I'm working on those after I finish providing you this update.

Here's the name of each roster member and a little about them:

Alfonso Mora - a disgraced football announcer turned commentator.

Angela Lozano - a young luchadora that's very well balanced.

Antonia Flores - the technical punch of the Sweet Sensations. She is Juana's sister.

Camilla Diez - a seasoned wrestler looking to find a solid home.

Captain Fuentes - a luchadora that has started finding some success as a pirate.

Eduardo Pena - a dude straight out of college that sent in some tapes of his work and was hired because he was well liked.

Emilia Lopez - tall powerhouse luchadora who just needs some seasoning to become the next household name in wrestling.

Glenda Serrano - one half of The Serrano Siblings. Able to continually turn people into pretzels with her holds and submissions.

Graciela Menendez - a member of Comedia Fanaticos, a solid brawler who desperately wants to wrestle as a luchador.

Ise Kashihara - hailing from Japan, this puroresu wrestler has found some success over in Mexico. Currently enjoying her time away from home.

Josefina Diaz - a raw young, but solid wrestler. Not much more to say about this technician.

Juana Flores - the high flyer of Sweet Sensations. Antonia's sister. Owner of FLF.

Juanita Soler - She's another solid raw talent and wants to someday wrestle her idol, Champagne Lover, in SOTBPW.

Mammoth Sid - one half of The Eliminators. This mammoth of a woman will beat you down with her explosive power.

Margaret Hume - an American who almost left wrestling, simply because she's only able to continually hit high risk moves. Not much else.

Martha Cabrera - a pious and skilled wrestler who has gained a cultish following.

Nicolas Ortiz - ran away from his abusive parents as a child, he was homeless until he joined FLF as the referee. Also dating Juana Flores.

Norma Serrano - the other member of The Serrano Siblings, she's the big muscle.

Rosaria Herrera - a raw luchadora that FLF perhaps see a potential star in.

Serpiente Diaz - one half of The Eliminators. For a large woman, she's a really well balanced type of luchador.

Veronica Martin - a submission specialist, Veronica is somehow make every transition to another submission look so flashy and cool.

Yolanda Vila - an entertainer by trade, she's more apt outside of the ring than in it. Teams regularly with Graciela as Comedia Fanaticos.

And that's the starting roster for Fabulosa Lucha Feminina. I hope you enjoy this little update.
Dorian
Hey everyone. Sorry I hadn't updated in quite some time. Oh Gods, it has been two weeks. Yikes. Guess I really got ahead of myself with trying to get this out there in a week. Thought life would give me more opportunities to build the database than what I did. So I apologize that I'm behind what I set for a schedule. That said, I've currently gotten both LEWD's roster and SHOW's roster into the database. The process of adding VCW is a go, which just will leave WPW to go for the 5 companies. Once that's completed, I'll post up a alpha of the database for anyone to try out. Any feedback on that would be welcomed. A curious thought I had, but considering I said that these are all brand new companies... Did you guys want people to start with in place gimmicks or would you like me to make it blank for you. As all the companies are just starting up, this should mean that there isn't any gimmicks or things in place, so I could put Gimmick Rating as Awful and that they are all Stale, so you can tweak it. This doesn't mean that wrestlers won't come with gimmicks they can already use. I'll make that not everyone's doesn't have a gimmick they can use (Pre-Post Edit: I think I meant I'll make sure to have people with gimmicks, geezus). This just however will allow you to tweak the company's roster as you see fit, which is what these companies will be doing as they are new. Just a thought, though I would appreciate the feedback. Anyways, thanks again for taking a look into this thread. Sorry that I don't have the alpha ready just yet. I will do my best to get it ready for you soon. ...also, sorry, I haven't had a chance to update any of the logos, so you have to settle for my sad first attempts at them. Again, all I can do is apologize for my failures.
Dorian
Alright, so I've completed the alpha of the mod. You can find the link in the original post or down below: Alpha Release This alpha release has just the base wrestlers, staff and companies in the game. This release does not have any additional wrestlers outside of that, updated company logos and banners, or is probably well balanced. This is my first mod, so I'm hoping I did a good job to start with. If I made any mistakes or mishaps, I apologize in advance. I did manage to complete gimmicks for I believe FLF and LEWD, but for SHOW, VCW and WPW all characters and gimmicks on Awful and Stale, so that you can place them into whatever gimmicks you want to try out for them. Since no one commented on it from before, I figured I'd do a little of both and see what I can get for feedback. I'm really nervous about this, as this is my first mod. I'm hoping it isn't too bad of an alpha that you all can at least enjoy it. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the alpha.
