Great British Wrestling

The mightiest of wrestling promotions have always had the grandest of beginnings. Companies that have gone down in history, that have changed the face of our sport, have been born into this world in a cacophony of fireworks and glamour. These days it's all about the hype, the impact. Multi-media fanfare openings with laser shows, celebrity guests and a worldwide online audience. Trend-setters. Influencers. Social media darlings all swooning over the newest, sexiest big thing about to turn our age-old sport on it's head.

The genesis of Great British Wrestling was not quite so breath-taking. No singing and dancing, no razamataz. It all began with me face down on a stranger's living room floor, my hands shaking, a pool of crusted vomit next to my head. Discarded beer bottles strewn all over the place, a recently emptied bottle of Jack Daniel's staring at me accusingly from a high shelf, mocking me from afar. My eyes burned, my head felt like I'd lost a fist-fight with a pissed off Ivan Drago. All I could taste was bad curry and cigarettes. All I could feel was confusion, with an alarming sense of panic bubbling beneath the surface.

I'd no idea where I was or how I'd got there. Why was my wallet empty? Why was I only wearing one shoe? Every attempt to recall the night before gave me a feeling of dread. Suddenly an unknown voice woke me from my slumber.

???:
"What a night!"

Me:
"Wha.... who...."

I felt like my face would slide off and land with a 'splat' on the floor. Every word was a painful adventure.

???:
"I can't believe they let you book a venue in that state pal! I had to translate for you even though you were both speaking English. And how you got 1000 flyers printed so quickly is a miracle. Not many people could talk graphic design while inhaling Tequila Slammers like that. Though quite how you managed to squirt that lemon in your eye is a mystery."

I was speechless. Clueless. There were no words. My dumbfounded expression must've spoken volumes.

???:
"You emptied all your savings accounts! You've already spent a grand on Facebook advertising! You hired a ring, ordered a custom canvas and everything! Though if the Team GB 2012 Olympic Committee find out you ripped off their logo they'll be pissed."

Then it hit me like a Triple H sledgehammer blow to my brain. My drunken night out on the wrong side of town. My ending up in a bar showing some 3rd rate WWE PPV. Me yelling at the TV, screaming that Seth Rollins is a "pussy". I remembered every arsehole in that bar (loudly and rather aggressively) challenging me to do better. Things went downhill from there, and became very blurry, very fast.

<img src="
style="width:75%;">

???:
"I wanna thank you, dude. When I graduated from the dojo there wasn't a promotion in the land that'd hire me. I'm 6ft 11 with arms like Beavis & Butthead. You giving me a shot as your first ever hired wrestler means the world to me. Sure you're completely unknown. Sure you got no wrestling background at all. Sure you seem to be completely making this shit up as you go along. But you've got energy and a can-do attitude; that's gotta count for something! I'll never forget you believed in me."

People would always assume John "Asylum" Doe's 'unknown man' identity was a work, part of his gimmick. Truth be known I couldn't remember his name for nearly a whole year. I was just too embarrassed to ask, and too afraid he'd kick my arse for forgetting.

What I do remember is the help he gave me in making this crazy, half-baked scheme work. Lord knows I'd have seen sense and called the whole thing off before it began, were it not for his infectious attitude and insistence that I not be a "cry-baby little bitch" and chicken out.

Everyone I knew thought I'd gone crazy. They assumed the alcohol had wrecked my brain. Why else would a guy like me cash in all his savings and gamble it all on some lunatic dream that could surely never succeed? I must've been mad starting my own wrestling promotion in such a cut-throat industry with no backing, no clue and no chance. I hadn't even watched mainstream wrestling in nearly a decade. (It sucks balls now). It was the madcap booking of ECW that'd got me hooked, and the crazy era of Attitude that kept me addicted, only to crash when ECW died, the Invasion angle caved so badly, and the whole colourful world turned grey. I'd seen glimpses of the fun and excitement I missed in British feds like Progress - enough to make me believe there was something special growing, in the UK at least. But how I ended up involved in this unforgiving business still boggles my mind.

Maybe the people were right. Maybe it was stupid to think I could. Maybe it was insanity, or a brain pickled by a lifetime of booze and bad decisions. But maybe, just maybe Britain's newest and least prestigious promotion could be a hit? Maybe fans would hear our tale and give Great British Wrestling a try? I wasn't the first idiot who risked everything chasing a silly, impossible dream. I sure as hell won't be the last.

Would it work?

Only time would tell...

This is the memoir of Jonny Marx (though that is obviously not my real name.) This is our story. This is the tale of Great British Wrestling - a lion in a world of snakes.

The One With More Vows Than A Wedding

http://twistededge.org/Identity.jpg

They say the day WCW died was not in 2001 when that cancer-riddled company finally hacked up its death rattle and breathed no more. Wrestling historians say it died the day it lost its identity, its soul. Those who mourn the demise of that sickly animal blame its passing on the loss of what made it unique; its doom beginning when its invoices became more important than its individuality.

I always swore this ill-conceived, two-bit company of mine would be different. Yes, every hack promoter proclaims their company to be truly unique. Yet the reality is a million faded photocopies of the same tired old formula. Was Great British Wrestling truly unique? Who knows? What I can say though is it was
real
.

<img src="
style="width:75%;">

In a world of cliche, fads and empty sensationalism, we would shine a light on Britain. Our roster would show Britain for what it is - good
and
bad. It would be multicultural and vibrant and colourful just like this country, but just as factional and divided as this country too. We would show its courages and its cancers. We would be both a celebration and a condemnation for everything our country is today. A microscope on the British Isles, performed through the media of scripted, family-friendly violence. That was the idea anyway - whether the fans caught on to any of that through the sea of Suplexes and Spandex is very much up for debate.

Despite noble intentions, it was a struggle in the early days just getting people to show up. Celebrating the spirit of Britannia was a nice dream to work towards, but we had to get bums on seats first, otherwise the dream would die before it was even really born.

We told ourselves that GBW would always stay true to our principles despite the many challenges. We even wrote a set of unofficial 'commandments', abiding by rules such as:

We would always highlight talent from the British Isles, so as a rule 80%+ of the roster would be from Britain or Ireland.

We would invest in talent not given a chance elsewhere. At least 75% of new signings must not work for any other company at time of hiring.

We would showcase the best emerging talent in the UK. 2 out of every 5 talent acquisitions must be dojo recruits fresh from within the British Isles. GBW would be their stage, their launchpad, and we would proudly watch them grow.

We would be a company for everyone - including all ages. So no swearing, blood and guts, tits and arse, any of that nonsense. Weapons would be minimal. Blading strictly banned. Why alienate people with our content?

At the same time, we would push the envelope within the confines above. GBW would become known for its hard-hitting and realistic action, its fast-paced, exhilarating matches. I was always impressed with how companies like Progress had put together such exciting action based on Puroresu and other impact styles. We'd do the same but on a smaller budget, without the swearing or bleeding. Sprinkle a little ECW-style chaos into the mix, and you get an idea what we were about.

Women's wrestling would not be sidelined in it's own division. It would be part of the main action. As the company progressed, that would come to mean all genders fighting against each other. No bimbos or showgirls, just grit and steel. Wrestling is a meritocracy. Whoever you are, if you put on a show, you'd go far, whether you had a set of bollocks or not.

Our content would always be free to watch. We would never do PPV. We would always have our action on free-to-air TV and/or online. Why hide behind a pay-wall? Why only give your sport to those with enough disposable income to throw at it? Wrestling is meant to be for everyone, after all.

Lofty ideals, to be sure. And we sure as hell made life a lot harder for ourselves by sticking to those rules. It makes me laugh when I think back to what a naive boy-scout I was back then. Through the alcohol-fueled haze I felt we would change the world. In reality these rules would almost become a noose around our necks. But the fact we fought the good fight, the fact we never wavered or sold out on our principles fills me with pride to this day. After all, trends fade but a legacy lasts forever.

There were times, however, when many doubted Great British Wrestling would survive long enough to leave any kind of legacy at all...

Thanks for reading, and for being the first to comment.

Because you requested him, I'm going to make sure Dave Rayne features somewhere in this Dynasty, just for you.

I didn't read the Give Me Rules For A Game thread this time, but I've used it a lot on previous saves. I'll be going there further down the line in this dynasty for the wise sages there to throw a few curve-balls into my game lol

They'll utilise a complex web of contacts and relationships to vie for the very best specimens of the squared circle, before expertly marketing them to the masses.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

I didn't have a clue, and I didn't care. I was young, headstrong and reckless back then. A spirit of chaos and anarchy burned deep within and that reflected in my shows. I hired guys based on 30 seconds of YouTube. I hired guys because I liked them. I hired some because they were crazy like me, or were misfits I could identify with. I hired one guy because he drank and partied like me. I hired one guy because he dressed like a clown. Another because he had a famous Dad. One got the call-up because he genuinely scared me. Another because I was too much of a pussy to admit I still couldn't remember his name.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

I'd seen some of Britain's leading lights on shows like Progress, but honestly I was clueless. An idiot. Wild and care-free. The fact that we ended up with a half-decent roster was a happy miracle, and frankly more than I deserved given my lax, bullshit attitude.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The weeks following that fateful first morning had passed in a blur of phone calls, meetings, booze and adrenaline. At the time I felt like the man, the boss, the king of the world - all of it was such a rush. Looking back now, I think everyone on the scene could tell I didn't know what the hell I was doing. The whole thing was like a game. A game to which I had no clue of the rules, let alone their consequences. I was literally making things up as I went along. It all went so fast, but I was having the time of my life.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

My new friend was quick to hook me up with his contacts, who in turn were more than happy to help their friends in wrestling get a shot. The wrestling industry in the UK was as cut-throat as it's ever been - workers were crawling over each other looking for work. Finding talent wasn't hard, and before I knew it I had a pretty damn respectable line up. Not too shabby considering I was an absolute nobody in the business, with no reputation to speak of and zero prestige. But, as I would find out time and time again, it's amazing what people will overlook when you wave a little money at them.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

I look back on those days with a giddy nostalgia. These workers were so hungry to make a name for themselves, to become a somebody in this business. Did some of the more unscrupulous members of GBW take advantage of my naivety? Sure. Were a few of them there to make a quick buck? You bet. But I took it all in my stride. After all, this was just the beginning of a great adventure. Even thinking about those early days makes me smile...</span></span></div></div></div></div><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Some Upcoming wrestlers Ive seen are Joe Nelson ( He is amazing) And Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis Aussie Open!

I'll certainly check them out, thanks. I had a look at Joe Nelson last night based on your suggestion. He's good. Has he hit puberty yet? Lad looks about 12 lol

Once I've watched more of their stuff I'll make sure at least one of these guys makes an appearance. Thanks for the suggestions.

The One With High Hopes On A Low Budget

http://twistededge.org/Chapter_1_Card.jpg

To announce the arrival of GBW on the UK wrestling scene, we scheduled a tournament to crown the first ever GBW World Champion. The winner would earn a place in the history books and cement their legacy in our tiny little fed. There was everything to fight for among a group of talented athletes with nothing to lose. Cynical eyes were watching us, waiting to pounce on every mistake. Many would take great satisfaction in watching us fail. It was up to us now to stand tall and make sure that didn't happen. With the odds stacked firmly against us, here was our first strike back against everyone who told us success was impossible.

It's funny to me now to see how small our early cards were - especially compared to the much bigger, much more ambitious shows we were able to put on down the line - but money was tight back then. We never let that stop us going all-out to put on the best show we possibly could, given the circumstances...

RJ Singh vs 'Super' Sam Bailey

I remember our first ever match with a smile. Two lightning fast high flyers went head to head in an electrifying opener to our first ever show. Singh had his ally and fellow Bhangra Knight Tiger Ali with him at ringside, which many thought made him the favourite in an otherwise 50/50 bout.

John 'Asylum' Doe vs Nathan Cruz

Nathan Cruz was a major name on the UK circuit and has a heavy favourite for the whole tournament... until he was drawn against GBW's pet monster. This was the night the world caught its first glimpse of the crazy wrecking ball that is the unknown wrestler dubbed 'John Doe'. Would the technical prowess of Cruz be enough to defeat the freakish strength and speed of his unpredictable opponent?

http://twistededge.org/People/Joey%20Hayes.jpghttp://twistededge.org/VS2.jpghttp://twistededge.org/People/Tiger%20Ali.jpg

Joey Hayes vs Tiger Ali

Hayes had a reputation as a fighter who could do it all - from crisp submissions to eye-catching aerial assaults, some said he was close to being the total package. But would it be enough against the super-fast high-flying Ali, who along with fellow Bhangra Knight RJ Singh, was determined to stake a claim for greatness here in GBW?

Runners Up 3 Way Dance To Crown The #1 Contender

The runners up of the 3 earlier matches would do battle, the winner earning a #1 Contender spot which they could cash in anywhere, any time. It was a similar idea to WWE's Money In The Bank but without the Fisher Price toy suitcase. The idea was this would add drama and mystique to proceedings, with the night's tournament winner instantly being on high alert with a target on their back. I assured people it was innovative, dynamic booking and not at all a cheap-ass way of stretching our tiny budget by having guys wrestle twice. I'm sure someone out there believed me.

Winner's 3 Way Dance To Determine The First Ever GBW World Champion

Of all the matches we ran in GBWs action-packed and colourful history, I'll always have a soft spot for this one. The big one. Our first for the belt. The one I hoped would make people sit up and take notice of us. Only time would tell. As the days ticked down towards our first ever event, I couldn't wait to see the title picture unfold...

Who would be crowned our first ever World Champion? Who would rise to take the mantle of #1 Contender?
Feel free to post any predictions, if you're into that sort of thing. Pre-show and Results to follow whenever I can get the damn things typed up...

Predictions:

RJ Singh

Nathan Cruz

Joey Hayes

Runners-Up 3-Way Dance: Asylum

Winners' 3-Way Dance: Joey Hayes

(My reasoning is I feel Cruz and Hayes will be too popular to lose first-round, and the Banghra Knights probably won't be in the same 3-Way Dance. Joey to win the title because (A) I'm biased, and (B) if Asylum wins the NOC match, it stops you doing an instant rematch between him and Cruz.)

Every wrestler dreams of performing in grand, legendary venues like Madison Square Garden or Wembley Stadium. They imagine themselves shrouded in greatness, elevated by the rapturous roar of the fans in events that would echo through the ages. That's what every wrestler dreams of when they close their eyes to sleep.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

So me, a complete nobody, asking them to put their bodies and souls on the line in a cold, damp old ruin in Leigh on the crust between Manchester and Wigan, must've felt like a slap in the face to our fledgling roster. </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The Old Mill would be the spiritual home of Great British Wrestling in the early days. They're turning it into trendy apartments now, but for a while it was our Mecca. I was proud of having the least glamorous wrestling venue in the country - kind of like the old 'ECW Arena' but with less history, more cobwebs and the kind of haunting echo you only find in the cheesiest of horror movies.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

I'd long since known one of the biggest issues facing small-time wrestling today, and I had a hunch on how to fix it. My views on this have always been controversial, but even the biggest haters can't say I'm wrong.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>What sucks about all Indie wrestling is that it </strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><em>looks</em></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong> like Indie wrestling.</strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> Take any show from any grass-roots YouTube-loving wrestling fed. The poster looks amazing. The entrance-way looks great, with metal arches shot through eye-catching camera effects and dramatic music. The wrestler looks amazing, having spent so much on their appearance they lose money on shows, because they're pursuing their dream at any cost. Maybe the viewers will be lucky and the fed will treat us to some artificial smoke and a few lasers. For a moment you're drawn in. For a second your brain is tricked into thinking it's watching something cutting edge, something professional, something vital.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Then suddenly the camera zooms out and the bubble bursts. Suddenly you're in a tiny youth hostel in Slough with beige walls and stained curtains. There's a crucifix on the wall and a mop in the corner. A dozen vaguely interested fans slouch in near-empty wooden bleachers. In an instant you've gone from the next Wrestlemania to the next Whogivesashit. The whole thing's like a kick in the balls, screaming at your eyes about how un-special it is, how low-budget and crappy things are. The wrestlers break their backs for shows like this - they're amazing. The fed owners and staff - often unpaid volunteers with a dream - give everything they have. But the illusion dies faster than a snowflake in an oven. And if one thing ol' Vince taught us remains true, it's that people flock to pro wrestling for a spectacle, to be transported away from reality. It's about escapism. The people want something magical. Not a cold, unused church in Rotherham with a handful of wrestlers trying their best on a blood-stained, broken old ring, in a room that definitely smells of piss.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The UK has some of the best up-and-coming wrestlers in the world. They give everything and take huge risks for little or no reward. They deserve a grand stage to perform on. They deserve an atmosphere worthy of their sacrifice. I may be an idiot. I may be an outsider with no clue and no deep knowledge of wrestling. But I know that much at least.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Everyone always told me Great British Wrestling would go bust within a couple of shows, that we were doomed financially no matter what. So I figured </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><em>"why not go out with a bang?"</em></span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> If fate would only allow us a handful of shows, then why not have them look awesome?</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

I grabbed a bunch of drama production students from nearby universities and paid them a pittance. I had them beg, borrow and steal every free piece of tech and equipment they could lay their freaky little hands on. I turned them into my own private army with one mission: to make this night look special. Dramatic. Awe-inspiring. I wanted Hollywood grandeur on a shoestring budget. And somehow my battalion of under-paid adolescents actually pulled it off.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

We utilised stunning studio lighting and effects to turn our half-abandoned old mill into something magical and mysterious, with a gothic flair. We gave it gravitas. We lit from above to maximise the action in the ring, but left the bleachers cloaked in shadows and darkly coloured light to hide the tiny crowds. I had the students use cutting edge (but fortunately cheap) graphic design to turn my blatantly ripped off London Olympics 2012 logo into a ring canvas masterpiece, printed at minimal cost on university presses. Every wrestler, regardless of their status or position on the roster, got a big pull-up banner with their picture and name on it in the auditorium. We worked our sweaty arses off on every detail. I can't even describe the minutiae my dweeb squad went into to dress up our production. Microphones were hidden beneath strategically chosen seats to amplify crowd noise. We even did that old WCW trick of putting all our fans on one side of the venue to make the crowd look bigger. And by God it somehow worked.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

When the wrestlers showed up before our first ever show, they were sceptical and disinterested. How could I blame them? Another dipshit wannabe booker with no experience or knowledge. Another clown in an ever-growing circus of fools. They could tell right away I was in over my head, completely overboard, ready to drown. But then I pulled back the curtain, revealing to them how The Old Mill had been transformed and they were speechless. I saw genuine excitement instantly replace their cynicism and doubt. Sure GBW was doomed. Sure the odds of success were insurmountable. But for once these wonderful, brilliant people had a stage worthy of their talents.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Our first show didn't change the world. It didn't create seismic waves throughout the industry. But it really caught the imagination of the small flock of fans who gave us a try. And it was obvious the wrestlers loved every moment they performed. They had a spring in their step. Their heads were held high. There was joy in their eyes.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

So what if everyone told me I was stupid for flushing away my savings? So what if this GBW dream was conceived in the worst way possible? So what if the wrestling wasn't groundbreaking? To me and to the talent it meant everything. And the fans sensed it too. They could tell the show that night was something wonderful and special. </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

We streamed Great British Wrestling's first ever show online for free (as we would for all our shows, ever). It's still on the website today if you're feeling nostalgic. Looking back it's amazing to see how energetic I was then. Seeing the footage of me opening the show with the excitement of a kid on Christmas morning makes me smile. Those were the days, back when I had hair, before the wrestling industry had made me bald from stress and had sucked the joy from my soul. Our small gathering of fans were nearly as anxious as me to see tonight's tournament unfold. I explained the rules, the format, and how tonight would determine both our first ever World Champion and our #1 Contender too. A tiny but colourful piece of British wrestling history had just begun. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle Rating: 42.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

I've said it before and I'll say it again - anyone who has a team like the Bhangra Knights on their show and doesn't immediately turn it into an all-out Bollywood dance party is an idiot. We kicked things off in style with the most aggressively ethnic opening in British wrestling history. Mundian To Bach Te by Punjabi MC blasted over the speakers. Streamers descended from the ceiling. A dozen (surprisingly cheap) Asian dancers from the Lions Of Punjab Bhangra Dance School filled our venue with colour and style. RJ Singh and his ally Tiger Ali strode in like kings. I'd wanted to hire an elephant for them to ride in on but it was too expensive - plus the damn thing wouldn't fit through the doors, and would probably have crapped everywhere anyway. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle Rating: 40.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

We wanted to open up our first ever show with a bang and these two crazy guys didn't disappoint. Superman spends less time in the air than these men. It was the kind of match you'd need to watch back in slow motion just to see all the action. Psychology and storytelling be damned - this was pure 100mph goofy fun and the fans are it up. Singh won with a pinfall following some kind of triple somersault thing with a hilariously hard to pronounce name. A close bout that could've gone either way were it not for the influence of Singh's buddy Tiger Ali at ringside. The fans also applauded Bailey for his efforts after the bout - he'd left everything he had in that ring and looked ready to collapse after all that fast-paced lunacy. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Match Rating: 35.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Oozing so much smugness it almost hurt, Nathan Cruz cut a backstage promo telling everyone how great he is, how it was a dead certainty he would emerge tonight with a shiny new title around his waist, etc. You know the score. You've seen wrestling shows before. Our tiny crowd booed him, despite him clearly having had his teeth whitened especially for the occasion.</span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;"> Angle Rating: 41.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Nathan Cruz wore a smug, arrogant expression all the way to the ring. He expected an easy bout against the completely unknown wrestler known as "Asylum". He was prepared for some tidy, technical wrestling. Little did he know he was in for the fight of his life against GBW's 6ft 11 masked monster. He used brutal Strong-Style submissions which would've crippled most opponents, but Doe didn't flinch. He used high impact moves that'd knock out anybody, but could barely get a 1 count. Even his finishing maneuver drew barely a 2, before Asylum sat quickly upright as if nothing happened. It was like he was impervious to pain - an unstoppable beast. Suddenly Cruz was being thrown about like a rag doll. A look of terror replaced his arrogant smile. Doe dished out all Cruz could take and more, until a missed Top Rope Suicide Headbutt gave Cruz just enough time for a lightning quick flash pinfall win. He then literally ran for his life, as did referee John Myers, two security guards, both camera men and half the fans in the front row. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Match Rating: 38.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Being from Leigh, the same town as our Old Mill venue was based, Joey Hayes came in to a warm ovation from our fans and was an instant favourite. I'd reminded him as he went through the curtain what his job was. Within 20 seconds he'd alienated the crowd. Within 40 seconds they were booing and throwing stuff at him - some random weirdo even threw a shoe at him - Christ knows how they got home. Within 60 seconds it was vendetta between the crowd and him. He stated the inevitability of his victory and going home as champion, but by then his role as Mr Bad Guy was cemented. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle Rating: 38.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

We brought things back down to Earth with a good, proper wrestling match - a rare thing these days. Both these guys can fly with the best. Both can mat wrestle too. Both displayed all their skills in an open bout with Ali sometimes getting the upper hand thanks to fan-friendly shenanigans from Singh at ringside. Quite how referee John Myers managed to not see Singh, in his shiny gold trousers, leaping over the top rope still remains a mystery. Despite being outnumbered, Hayes managed to stun Ali long enough for the pinfall win. He progressed to the final but hurt his shoulder badly during the fight. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Match rating: 42.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

I took to the mic and reminded the fans that the losers (or "runners up" as I called them) from tonight's bouts would now face off in a Triple Threat. The winner would get a shot at the title to keep up their sleeve for as long as they liked. The fans charitably looked past what was a blatant effort to squeeze one more match out of some already tired performers and cheered the wrestlers to the ring. Cash was tight back then, what more can I say? </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle rating: 38.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The winner of this match would get a title shot they could cash-in any time they wanted. This gave our 3 battered and bruised wrestlers all the incentive they needed to take things up a notch. The result? Chaos. Fun, family-friendly chaos. Singh interfered for Ali, and double-team mayhem ensued. 'Super' Sam Bailey flew like a missile. 'Asylum' John Doe caused more damage than a force 12 hurricane. Bodies everywhere. Doe was too busy stomping holes into the Bhangra Knights at ringside to hear the referee's 10 count. Our first ever main event started with a roar from our tiny brigade of fans. All 3 men got a good share of moves in. Singh used his speed well against the more methodical Hayes and Cruz, but was clearly hurt and exhausted from his earlier bout, and struggled to maintain the pace, even with Ali at ringside. Cruz took out his legs with calculated strikes and holds. Hayes went in for the kill with a breathtaking high flying maneuver whose Mexican-sounding name I wasn't even going to attempt pronouncing on air. Singh got the knees up. Hayes landed in a crumpled pile of limbs and screams, clutching at the shoulder he hurt in his previous battle. The match stopped immediately. Clearly Hayes was badly injured, and had to be carried away by security and our only referee. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Match rating: 48.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

With our main event in jeopardy, the music of 'Super' Sam Bailey filled the air. Our newly crowned #1 Contender strutted to the ring despite being exhausted and hurt from his two fights earlier. I remember how shocked the fans were when that gutsy little bastard cashed in his #1 Contender shot right then and there! I warned him it was a bad idea, but he insisted, saying it would be part of his legacy to be the first ever GBW World Champion, and this was his only chance to make history. He really won the fans over by doing that. Dumbfounded, I rang the bell for the action to begin again. </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Angle rating: 52.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

RJ Singh vs Nathan Cruz vs 'Super' Sam Bailey.</em></strong></span></span></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The match resumed with it's new, unexpected line-up. The Bhangra Knights made full use of there being no security or referee, who were still backstage tending to Hayes. They used their numerical advantage to get the best of Nathan Cruz, who they'd singled out for punishment. Cruz retaliated by cheating like crazy, and got away with it due to there being no referee to stop him. Bailey was beaten and exhausted after his 2 earlier wrestling matches, often using the ropes just to keep himself standing. Yet he somehow found enough in himself to execute a stunning Springboard Moonsault which flattened Singh, Ali and Cruz. He had them all pinned for well over 3 seconds, but there was nobody to make the count. Referee John Myers slid back into the ring eventually, but the moment was gone.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The match continued until only Bailey was left standing, his opponents lying prone outside the ring. Against all odds he was about to win via count out. Despite hardly being able to stand he raised his arm in victory, counting down the seconds to becoming the first ever GBW Champion. The fans counted with him, clapping in unison - it was a beautiful moment.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

That was until a miraculously recovered Hayes ran in, sneaked up behind him, then hit a lightning fast Schoolboy pin for the most controversial win in GBW's early history. Hayes was the champ. His injury was clearly a dastardly, fiendish trick. </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The crowd booed and threw trash at GBW's first ever belt holder. He ran for his life from Cruz, the Bhangra Knights, Bailey and me, clutching his new title like a baby. Great British Wrestling had a new world champion... a champion with a giant bulls-eye on his back... </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">Match rating: 43.</span></strong></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">
