I'm gonna be honest. Chapter 10 Results are all typed up and I've formatted half of it. My life, however, has been taken over by Tiger King on Netflix. It is immense.

I'll post it soon, not that anybody's holding their breath. If anybody was expecting something sooner, don't blame me, blame Carol ****ing Baskin.

The One With Lots Of Hand Sanitiser, Face Masks, And A Safe 2 Metre Distance

Show held at The Old Mill in Leigh, Thursday Week 3, April 2020. Attendance: 77.

Chapter 10 of Great British Wrestling happened at a strange time for wrestling, and indeed for society as a whole. This was deep into the Coronavirus outbreak, with the unseen specter of Covid-19 scaring the shit out of the whole world's population. The death count was thankfully nowhere near the Spanish Flu of the early 20th Century, which killed 50,000,000 to 100,000,000 people. But the fact that anybody could be a walking disease bomb without knowing it had the people rightly shutting themselves indoors, and isolating themselves from society in fear of contamination.

This was around the time when Wrestlemania went ahead in a closed, empty arena - the atmosphere was so weird and eerily silent that the money-obsessed Vince McMahon gave his flagship PPV away for free. As I mentioned earlier in this memoir, GBW got a LOT of negative heat for going ahead with our event, when so many of our peers cancelled theirs. The audience was strangely subdued. My insistence on everyone wearing medical face masks was part of the reason, along with the nauseating stench of pine anti-bacterial disinfectant that hung in the air. The massive sign saying "FOR CHRIST SAKE DON'T TOUCH ANYONE" didn't lighten the mood either. It was a strange time, and a strange show.

Whether my decision to go ahead was right or wrong, it was my hope that we could put a smile on people's faces, and help them forget about the invisible nightmare that surrounded them. Those were the thoughts that weighed heavily on my tiny, booze-riddled mind as our show exploded into life...

Garrett Tate vs 'Party Boy' Liam Slater - New Blood Series.

Chapter 10 was literally Garrett Tate's first time in the ring as a fully-fledged pro wrestler. Most would have kept him in dark matches until he gained in confidence, but I had enough faith in the former Oxford / Cambridge Boat Race champion to drop him in the deep end. Was my faith justified? Hell no. This match sucked balls, ate shit, choked on it's own farts and died. It was probably the worst match in GBW's early history. The poor bastard was nervous as hell. In fairness, Slater was the wrong opponent to debut someone so green - he's very entertaining but has the move variety and psychology of a goldfish. It meant little though, as Tate would go on to win gold all over the world and become a hell of a performer. It makes me proud to think he debuted in GBW, even if the match was an inescapable stink. It was the wrestling equivalent of a fart in a space suit. Tate got the win after The Prestige surprisingly interfered. The match was so bad the fans were actually happy to see the most hated wrestlers in GBW coming to the ring.

In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd (for Slater) but sub-par wrestling, Garrett Tate defeated Liam Slater in 11:58 by pinfall with an Oxford Crucifix. The match also had a lot of interference: Joey Hayes distracted Liam Slater, Nathan Cruz distracted Liam Slater, and finally Sebastian distracted Liam Slater. Liam Slater sustained an Open Ulna Fracture.

Match rating: 25. Number of GBW staff who knew what the hell an Open Ulna was, let alone how to fracture it: 0.

Angle: Tate Joins Up.

Despite being unfairly screwed out of a title shot in front of his adoring fans, 'Party Boy' Slater showed incredible sportsmanship and offered a handshake, but Tate refused to touch him, calling him a "filthy, dirty, disease-carrying commoner." Tate's new buddies The Prestige handed him a robe, officially making him one of their snobby little stable. Nobody was surprised, given what little they'd seen of GBW's newest signing so far. They all had matching black and gold Ric Flair style wrestling robes now, and looked very snazzy.

I must admit to being amused when a Liam Slater fan touched Tate's arm as he was strutting about at ringside. He refused to move on until security threw them out. He then insisted a nearby medic use alcohol wipes to cleanse the area where the peasant had touched him. GBW's loyal army of under-paid student production minions did a great job editing out the sound of me almost pissing myself with laughter.

Angle: Prestige vs Peasants.

Having seen Tate's public relations masterclass, The Prestige quickly adorned face masks, freaked out about all the dirty peasants around them with their germs. Leadership duo Joey Hayes and Nathan Cruz took to the mic, complaining it was bad enough they had to touch filthy poor people in the ring, now they were probably contagious too. Citing the Coronavirus, they refused to wrestle. Covid-19 was serious business - a worldwide killer - but The Prestige were such arseholes that I decided to over-rule them. They angrily refused to leave the ring in protest. I had planned for such an occurrence. I sighed, cracked open my next beer, then sent in Asylum. They vanished as soon as they saw the demented giant hurtling towards them. I laughed to myself triumphantly. Then I fed him Timmy Force.

John 'Asylum' Doe vs Timmy Force.

Despite being the first name on a hit list that had all of GBW genuinely spooked, little Timmy showed real courage and valour in his attempt to slay the monster that towered over him. It was like David vs Goliath, except Timmy didn't have God on his side. He threw everything he had at Doe. Every maneuver. Every strike. Every ounce of strength. Asylum absorbed it all with a casual shrug, seemingly at worst mildly inconvenienced by the onslaught. In reality Force's efforts were futile. He was totally out-gunned. It was like trying to blow up a tank by spitting at it. After a few minutes Doe got tired of the buzzing little fly and swatted it. The impact of the Chokeslam was such that its shockwave knocked over two empty front rows of seats. The match was over. Poor Timmy literally had to be scraped off the canvas by our medics.

In an extremely short match, John "Asylum" Doe defeated Timmy Force in 5:26 by pinfall following a Christ Almighty Chokeslam.

Angle: Bailey's Revenge.

The fans cheered as the ever-popular Sam Bailey appeared on the big screen. He'd taken it upon himself to confront The Prestige backstage. He warned his nemesis Joey Hayes that he'd stop at nothing until the score between them was settled. For nearly a year he'd dreamed of retribution since Hayes quashed his championship dreams in Chapter 1. Now he was just one victory away from getting his hands around the GBW Champion's scrawny little neck. As promos go it was as blatantly scripted as they come, but the fans ate it up. The Prestige sold it well, making it look like Bailey had really gotten under their skins.

Tiger Ali vs Toni Storm - New Blood Series.

Unlike Sebastian and The Prestige who were appalled at facing a woman ('Session Moth' Martina) last month, Tiger Ali was a much better example to the kids. He was delighted to share the ring with a female, especially an athlete of the caliber and athleticism of Toni Storm. They showed respect and sportsmanship throughout. In a time of pandemic, our fans - sat 2 metres apart from each other and all sprayed with disinfectant like cattle - needed reminding of the goodness and kindness that exists in people. That was the theme running behind our whole event - personified nicely in this good, 50/50 bout. Ali looked annoyed when his Bhangra Knight allies Prince Ameen and RJ Singh distracted Storm; he wanted to win fair and square. The distraction worked against Ali in the end, Storm capitalising with a quick finisher and pinfall. In doing so she became a welcome addition to the GBW roster.

In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Toni Storm defeated Tiger Ali in 12:05 by pinfall with a Strong Zero. During the match we also saw RJ Singh distract Toni Storm, and Prince Ameen also distract Toni Storm.
Match rating: 43.

Angle: Going Wild Backstage.

In another display of great sportsmanship, 'Super' Sam Bailey met up with his rival RJ Singh and the Bhangra Knights backstage. He wished Singh luck for their match later, saying he was happy that whoever won, one of them would get to give Hayes his comeuppance. They discussed how Hayes screwed them both over since Chapter 1, and shook hands. Before any more disgusting arse-kissing could take place, GBW's deranged clown Eddie Vega kicked open the door.

All 4 babyfaces screamed in unison as Vega's new ally Gerald The Lion charged into the room, a psychotic look in it's eyes and drool dripping from it's huge, terrifying fangs. Eddie used Gerald to threaten Bailey, who was part of the brawl that had ended the career of his 'muse' Jokey a couple of months ago. Vengeance was his mission. A ravenous lion was his method. Blood, pain and dismemberment were his goal.

The Bhangra Knights made a move towards Vega. Gerald, acting out of primal instinct, pounced on Singh, who screamed in genuine horror as the lion crushed him to the floor and brought its massive teeth towards his throat. Vega pulled him away just before Gerald could crush his skull with his massive jaws. The vengeful clown then sent a warning of bloodshed and nightmares to come, before leaving a frightened and traumatised Singh screaming and trembling in horror.

'Big Daddy' Walter vs Blood (with Messiah Hallberg).

The Austrian giant had sent shockwaves throughout the company since his inclusion as part of the New Blood Series. Offering size, strength and brawling, his style was a welcome contrast from the smaller mat wrestlers and high flyers that filled our roster. Only Asylum had been able to match him physically, and the fans had loved Walter ever since. At Chapter 10 he locked horns with the unpredictable, psychotic Blood, whose minder Messiah Hallberg had arranged this most curious of match-ups at his own considerable expense.

Was it any good? Suffice to say these two athletes casually went about putting on one of the best matches in GBW's early days. A bout of the year contender.

It was open match, with both men giving plenty of action which had the fans on the edge of their seats. Blood was thrown about like a rag doll by the massive Walter but seemed impervious to pain. Hallberg kept shouting instructions from ringside, which would give Blood the upper hand as the sadistic technician targeted limb by limb. Devastating blows and submission holds would give him the upper hand until Walter's sheer strength and brute force swung the match again.

A captivating, open battle ensued until suddenly Messiah climbed to the apron and gave a signal. Walter immediately stopped fighting, smiled, nodded his huge head, and laid down on the canvas. The fans were silent with shock. In one of the most bizarre and controversial moments in UK wrestling, he blatantly allowed Blood to pin him for the 3 count. As per my agreement with Hallberg, the dangerous psychopath was back in GBW! Messiah calmly climbed into the ring, giving 'Big Daddy' Walter an envelope stuffed full of cash. I looked on, horrified - as did the 77 fans in attendance. Talk about unexpected Heel Turns - this one was up there with the best. The fans were furious, throwing garbage at the once-loved giant, who just laughed at them all as he strode up the ramp to the backstage area, counting his money as he left.

In a superb match, Blood defeated Walter in 15:07 by pinfall with an easy pinfall finish. During the match we saw Messiah Hallberg assist Blood, and also distract Walter.

Angle: Storm Session.

In a backstage segment recorded earlier that day, new GBW signing 'Session Moth' Martina approached me in my office, asking for a World Title shot. Before I could finish my drink and tell her "no" Toni Storm barged in, demanding the same. The two started a heated confrontation which threatened to escalate into a brawl. I stopped that crap immediately, reminding them both to stay 2 metres apart, pointing to a big Covid-19 warning sign on my wall. That seemed to calm them down.

I stroked my chin wisely, making it look like I was deep in thought and not just making shit up as I went along. I shrugged and flipped a coin. It landed on heads. I took that as fate's way of telling me to grant their request. I explained that if Storm won her New Blood bout and became a fully fledged part of GBW (which had happened by this point,) I'd book GBW's first ever match between two women for next show. If Cruz hadn't cashed in his #1 Contender's shot by Chapter 11 I would force him to defend his position against the winner of this women's bout. Otherwise, the winner is new #1 Contender. Martina and Toni seemed pleased at this, albeit a little confused by my convoluted, needlessly complicated explanation. I told them both to wash their hands and get the hell out of my office.

RJ Singh vs 'Super' Sam Bailey - Winner Gets Joey Hayes.

Our bizarrely large online following had gotten themselves very excited over this one. Two of our best high flyers going head-to-head. A bout that was too close to call. We did an online poll, with 51% picking Singh to win, presumably thanks to his Bhangra buddies Ali and Ameen being ringside. A very open, evenly contested battle was expected by all.

That was before Singh's run in with Gerald The Bloodthirsty Man-Eating Lion, which seemed to have shaken RJ to his very core. The man was a ghost; the shell of his former self. Even distractions from his Bhangra Knights couldn't get him back on track. The near-death experience ruined his chances, especially with a motivated Sam Bailey on the fighting form of his life. Bailey seized the moment, a shot at revenge against Joey Hayes, and depending on the outcome of our main event, a shot at the GBW World Title.

This was, incidentally, the first wrestling match in history to have it's outcome determined by a lion.

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Sam Bailey defeated RJ Singh in 13:27 by pinfall with a Sam Dunk. During the match we also saw Prince Ameen distract Sam Bailey, and Tiger Ali also distract Sam Bailey.

Angle: Backstage Hype.

Our show went backstage to David Finlay Jr, 'Session Moth' Martina and Earl Black Jr. They hyped their match with The Prestige, up next, and swore a whole lot of revenge. Martina was furious about the ungentlemanly beat-down The Prestige inflicted on her at the last show. She shouted a lot and was drinking extra cans of Strongbow Dark Fruits and Monster Energy Drink to get her ready for retribution. Black and Finlay were pissed at being fired from The Prestige, and for also getting a beat-down. I can't remember what they said, but you get the jist. I'd accidentally drank a whole bottle of hand sanitiser by then, thinking it was out-of-date beer. I wouldn't recommend it. The side-effects were unpleasant. I was picked up by police in a nearby canal 4 hours later, pretending to be a shark.

The Prestige (Joey Hayes, Nathan Cruz, Sebastian) vs 'Session Moth' Martina, Earl Black Jr & David Finlay Jr - If Anybody Pins Hayes, They Get His World Title.

An action packed main event with all manner of styles in the mixing pot. The Prestige, keen to remind the fans what a bunch of dicks they were, used every under-handed trick in the book, constantly using illegal double-teams, illegal moves and weapons like pros. Nathan Cruz broke his own record, racking up 22 illegal moves. They played our new referee Carmen Gil like a violin. Black Jr and Finlay Jr worked very well together based on their time in The Prestige, and had their opponents perfectly scouted. They'd spent so much time training with their opponents in the past they could counter almost every move. Session Moth, now 13 cans of ultra-strength cider into a full-on bender, seemed impervious to pain, and mounted several near-superhuman comebacks that'd make Hulk Hogan or Ultimate Warrior proud.

The good guys could have won this match a dozen times, but nobody was interested in pinning Cruz or Sebastian, they wanted Hayes and his title. They missed a lot of good opportunities to have won the bout by ignoring pinfall chances on Cruz and Seb to go for Hayes. Hayes got a Herculean arse-kicking as a result, including a 4 minute section involving nothing but attacks to his crotch, which our fans loved every moment of, but it cost Team Moth the match. They didn't capitalise, and because of that a Garrett Tate distraction lead to a desperation Hayes Impact. The match was over before anyone knew what was happening. That sneaky bastard Hayes was still champion. The fans were furious as our show drew to a close and our online live stream went off air.

In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Joey Hayes, Nathan Cruz and Sebastian defeated Martina, Earl Black Jr and David Finlay, Jr. in 15:27 when Joey Hayes defeated Earl Black Jr by pinfall with a Hayes Impact. During the match we also had Garrett Tate distract Martina. Joey Hayes makes defence number 7 of his GBW World title. In terms of in-ring work, Joey Hayes was head and shoulders above everyone else.

The One With The Spray-Painted Phallice

http://twistededge.org/GBW.jpg

http://twistededge.org/ch10_Post_Show.jpg

It was the night after Chapter 10, and I was not happy. The show had gone fairly well, despite a shit-storm in the local newspaper damning us for going ahead with the event in the midst of the Coronavirus outbreak. To compound matters, I'd been fished out of a nearby canal by police some time after the show, drugged out of my tiny brain, after accidentally drinking a whole bottle of hand sanitiser during the broadcast. Officers on the scene reported me as incoherent and blabbering. I thought I was a shark, they said. Refused to put my trousers back on, they said. Tried biting a police dog, they said. Suffice to say the whole affair - and the expensive bribe needed to keep it quiet - had left me in a
really
bad mood the next day.

And so here I was, in my office, with the lights dimmed for full dramatic effect. My face was a picture of serious concentration. I was not messing about, and those with me in the room knew it. In front of me in a line, standing to attention like loyal soldiers, were the motley crew of Nathan Cruz, Garrett Tate, our road agent Bad Buddha and John Doe. We were up to no good. The men I'd gathered together didn't know what the plan was, but knew it was probably illegal. They seemed to like that part the best.

John Doe and Bad Buddha were always up for anything dangerous. I'd asked them to bring wire cutters and a crowbar. They seemed excited by that. Nathan Cruz had a show with Progress Wrestling the next day, but his train didn't leave til the following morning - he was here because frankly he was bored and he had nothing better to do. Garrett Tate was too young and too green to know any better. He'd have let me shoot him out of a cannon if I'd asked nicely - he was just so excited to be involved. So when I told him to turn up dressed in black, with a ski mask on, he didn't ask any questions.

I addressed my troops like a badass drill sergeant, and loved every second of it.

Marx (me):
"It's bad news, guys. The ring is completely broken. There's no hope for her. Doe, you and Walter broke it when you had that match together. The match between Walter and Hayes damaged it even more. The six person tag match last night was the nail in it's coffin. It's good for nothing but firewood now. As you know the finances of Great British Wrestling are so bad I've taken to paying you all in Burger King vouchers. The company can't afford a new ring, but we obviously can't run any wrestling shows without one. So... it's time to get creative."

Tate:
"Does this have anything to do with the van that's parked outside?"

Doe:
"Is this gonna be a heist or something? This is soooo cool!"

Cruz:
"No it isn't this is sad, and shit, and tragic. It's like a really shitty remake of Reservoir Dogs, but with wankers instead of gangsters."

Buddha:
*incoherent, aggressive grunting*

Doe:
"Where we headed to, Jonny? An exotic location, I bet. Kinda like Ocean's Eleven. We off to Vegas? Monaco? Saint-Tropez? Monte Carlo?"

Marx:
"Christ no. Preston."

Cruz:
"Oh no. We're screwing with PCW aren't we? I know they declared war on you... I mean us... months ago, but I thought that had all died down? They stole a jobber and nothing's happened since."

Marx:
"I bet that lumpy bastard Steven Fludder's been plotting something though. Some nefarious, diabolical scheme to bring GBW down. I know for a fact it was him who ratted us out to the newspapers, drumming up all this heat on us for carrying on our shows during this Covid-19 crap. We have to strike first, while we can, before he destroys us like some fat, bacon-scented Death Star."

Cruz:
"Have you heard yourself? This is ridiculous."

Marx:
"This is wrestling. Wrestling
is
ridiculous. Now put your masks on, grab your tools and get in the van. There's beer and vodka in the back to keep you all warm."

Surprisingly they fell for it. I was quietly amazed, but they all went with me on this dangerous, ridiculous little adventure.

I can't go into too much detail as to what happened next, for legal reasons. An army of lawyers are already nervous about the idea of me writing this memoir, scared of what skeletons I'll be dragging out of the closet. These suits have already advised I say as little as possible about the subject.

I did, however, see a very interesting article in the local newspaper the following day. It was such a good article I cut out the pictures and kept them for prosperity:

<img src="
style="width:84%;">

Police were called out to the headquarters of Preston City Wrestling last night after nearby residents heard the sound of alarms ringing. Security camera footage has been submitted to police showing five masked assailants, brandishing a variety of crude tools and weapons, cutting through a wire perimeter fence and kicking through the building's reinforced doors. In a strange twist to the tale, the thieves appear to have ignored a cash box containing thousands of pounds in used notes, a safe containing jewelry, state of the art laptops and televisual equipment, plus other highly valuable items of wrestling paraphernalia. Gym equipment worth tens of thousands was also strangely left untouched. The only possession reported missing is a wrestling ring used by Preston City Wrestling for their staged shows.

Business owner Steven Fludder raced to the scene as soon as the alarm was raised, arriving at the same time as local police. Apart from the considerable damage to the outer fence and door, the unidentified criminals also crudely spray-painted a massive phallice, complete with testicles, across the ceiling of the company's head office. A spokesperson for the police commented that arrests were unlikely due to a lack of evidence, with an unconfirmed source within the department blaming teenagers or drug addicts for the disturbance.

Fludder and others within the besieged wrestling company are considering offering a cash reward for any evidence or information leading to the apprehension of the hooligans, and have asked this reporter to include photos from the security camera footage. If you recognise any of these unscrupulous individuals, please contact our editor via our Social Media outlets.

I have been asked by my legal team to state the obvious - the good people of GBW would never have been involved in such a heinous crime.

In a totally unrelated incident, we were proud to display a brand new, top of the range wrestling ring for our next show. The roster loved it immediately, commenting how nice it was to be able to take bumps without fear of their spines exploding upon impact. Naturally there were questions as to how a financially spiraling, piss-pot little federation like GBW could afford such a cutting edge piece of kit. I just told them the same thing I keep on telling my lawyers:
"the less you know, the better."

The One Where We Continue To Ignore The Pandemic

Carrying On Regardless.

Our previous show had drummed up a lot of controversy and criticism due to our decision to host a wrestling event in the middle of the Coronavirus outbreak. We'd followed every conceivable safety precaution, but that still didn't stop people getting all pissy at us. Like the old saying goes, however, "all publicity is good publicity." People were starting to talk about GBW, even if it was to yell at us, and the word-of-mouth meant extra asses on seats. Chapter 11 would be the most highly attended show to date, and we had plenty of surprises up our sleeves for the fans who'd brave the threat of Covid-19 to come out and watch us. Here's what we had in store...

New Blood Series: Timmy Force vs 'Boom Boom' Jamaica

The latest match in our popular New Blood Series features the likable high flyer Timmy Force going up against what might be the world's first Jamaican Luchadore. The fans are expecting fast-paced aerial action to kick off our 11th show. If 'Boom Boom' wins, a permanent place in GBW. If Force wins, he earns what may be the most unlikely World Title Shot in British wrestling history.

Many of our online following have Timmy as the big favourite here. But don't forget the destruction he endured against the madman Asylum last time. Some say he will never be the same again after GBW's pet lunatic crushed him like a bug. Suddenly this battle is a lot more 50/50 than many would think.

Blood (with Messiah Hallberg) vs Dean Allmark In A Wrestling Exhibition Presented By Messiah Hallberg.

Dean Allmark is one of the most highly respected names on the British indie circuit. Known for his supreme high flying skills, solid mat wrestling and charisma, any promotion in the UK would be proud to have him on their show. Everyone was genuinely shocked - speechless even - when it was announced he was dipping his toes into the muddy cesspool of Great British Wrestling. In truth we only managed to get him because nearly every other company in the land had cancelled their shows, and Dean needed the cash.

The fans were buzzing in anticipation though, especially when we announced he'd be sharing the ring with the psychotic grappler known only as Blood. The story we told the fans was that Allmark was being brought in as a hand-picked opponent by the mysterious and sinister Messiah Hallberg. The specter of his dark schemes only added to the intrigue of the bout, as fans online speculated about what tricks Hallberg had up his sleeve.

'Big Daddy' Walter (with Messiah Hallberg) vs 'Party Boy' Liam Slater

Walter has a place in GBW thanks to Hallberg's schemes, but is now a hated figure having blatantly thrown the bout with Blood last month. He managed to alienate the entire GBW locker-room, the fans and me by taking Hallberg's money to deliberately take the loss. Worst of all, he didn't care about the hatred, he seemed amused by it.

Into all this controversy steps Liam Slater, given a chance to leap up the GBW rankings with a win. All he has to do is defeat the biggest, meanest, hardest hitting giant in the world. You'd think such a mountainous task were a piece of cake given Slater's confident attitude. The odds are stacked against 'Party Boy' whether he admits it or not - although rumours of a new friendship with new GBW signee 'Session Moth' Martina might be part of the reason for his high hopes. Walter's 'advisor' Messiah Hallberg always has a plan though, and it remains to be seen whether Slater will end up being just the latest pawn in his game.

'Session Moth' Martina vs Toni Storm - Winner Faces Cruz For #1 Contender's Spot For The GBW World Title.

The first all-women's battle in Great British Wrestling history sees a clash of two of the most talented females on the circuit today. This could be a great match that puts GBW on the map. The stakes are high, with the winner facing Cruz at Chapter 12 for the #1 Contender's spot (assuming Cruz hasn't cashed it in by then). A genuine 50/50 battle with fans split over who'll win.

This is it. The big one. 11 months of back and forth has lead us to this point. Having been 'screwed over' by Hayes at our first ever event, Bailey has sought the two things he covets most with the determination of a man posessed - revenge at Hayes, and the World Title belt. Finally after months of near-misses and failed attempts, Bailey would get one last chance to clinch both those things and make all his dreams and aspirations come true.

Standing in his way is the most dominant faction in GBW - The Prestige - who will stop at nothing to keep their grip on the power that comes with the World Title gold. Bailey doesn't just have to somehow get past Hayes, but Nathan Cruz, Sebastian and Garrett Tate as well. But fate loves a hero, and nothing is impossible in the crazy world of wrestling.

Thanks again to all who take the time to read this, especially anyone who has followed this diary across from the 2016 thread. TEW 2020 is upon us, and this dynasty's gonna go on for a long time yet...

I underestimated how busy / popular the 2020 forum would be when I asked the mods to move this dynasty here. Seems a thread spends about 25 seconds on the first page before disappearing lol!</p><p> </p><p>

Results are coming up soon. If anyone can be arsed doing predictions, now's the last chance. Either way, thanks to anyone taking the time to read this funky little diary of mine.</p>

Agree with that!! :D Perhaps give us a 'quick pick' at the bottom of a preview. Saves people copying all the text, and deleting it all to just leave the title of the match. If you do it once.

For example, post this at the bottom of a preview:

New Blood Series: Timmy Force vs 'Boom Boom' Jamaica

Blood (with Messiah Hallberg) vs Dean Allmark In A Wrestling Exhibition Presented By Messiah Hallberg.

'Big Daddy' Walter (with Messiah Hallberg) vs 'Party Boy' Liam Slater

'Session Moth' Martina vs Toni Storm - Winner Faces Cruz For #1 Contender's Spot For The GBW World Title.

Joey Hayes vs 'Super' Sam Bailey - For The GBW World Title.

(obviously without the bolded bits) And we can bold who we think will win. Saves us casual readers time and effort :D

Forgot to say the other day, laughed a lot at the new wrestling ring post :D "In a totally unrelated incident" :D :D :D hahahaha!!

I've heard of Walter, Hayes, Storm and Bailey... But I don't think I've seen Bailey or Hayes wrestle before. It means I probably won't predict often, but I'm following along.

Thank you for the suggestion - honestly have no idea why I didn't think of the 'quick pick'. I'll make sure to provide one will all cards I post from now on! Any objection to me naming it 'The Lloyd Quick Pick' seeing as how it was your idea?

The Lloyd and ElectricX - thanks for predicting. Am working on finalising the results now. After that, it's Chapter 12 - the 1 Year Anniversary show, and the biggest, most ambitious show in GBW history (though that's not saying much lol)

The One Where People Began Actually Showing Up

http://twistededge.org/GBW.jpg

http://twistededge.org/CH11_Results.jpg

Show held at The Old Mill in Leigh, Thursday Week 3, May 2020. Attendance: 95.

<img src="
style="width:36%;">

The shit hit the fan last time when we ran Chapter 10 in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. We got a lot of heat for doing it again a month later. This time though people were clearly sick to death of the hell of being trapped indoors with their families. They were screaming out for ANY distraction, for ANY form of entertainment. So when our crappy little wrestling show rolled back into town, people who'd never even watched wrestling on TV couldn't wait to throw their cash at us for a ticket. As a result we had a dizzying, record-high attendance of 95.

As with our last show, keeping the fans 2 metres apart was easy in the vast, near-empty Old Mill venue. There were so many face masks in the crowd our broadcast that month looked like a low-budget episode of ER. Whether these poor fools knew what they were letting themselves in for is beyond me, but we fed them plenty of beer and they seemed to not hate it. We were determined to put on a hell of a show for them... and we had a fancy new ring to do it in too...

Backstage Promo: Going For Gold.

Sam Bailey let the fans know how psyched he was for tonight's title shot. All his life he'd waited for his moment to come, dreaming since childhood of wearing a World Title Belt. He wasn't just doing this for the fans; he was doing this for the childhood version of himself that stayed up all night watching Wrestlemania and Starrcade, praying to whoever was listening he'd one day share such a stage. Tonight was the night he'd get to achieve at least a little bit of that seemingly impossible fantasy. It was his destiny. Nothing was going to stop him.

It was generic, cheesy stuff but the fans ate it up big time. After 11 months of Joey Hayes' and The Prestige's bullshit, they were dying for their guy Bailey to hold the gold. Speaking of which...

Backstage Promo: The Prestige Answer Back.

Our screens cut to Hayes and the Prestige, who were watching the sun going down from the deck of a luxury yacht. They sipped champagne cocktails, wearing tailor-made designer suits. They informed the "proletariat" watching tonight that they were already celebrating another Prestige title victory. Plans were in place, they said smugly, to ensure the World Title would be staying with them. Regardless of what tricks Bailey had planned, they had plans of their own to counteract them. "The Prestige will never surrender the title. Gold trinkets so fine as this should never be in the filthy, diseased hands of the unwashed masses." That didn't go down well with our fans, as you can imagine.

New Blood Series: Timmy Force vs 'Boom Boom' Jamaica

The newcomer Jamaica was something of a wildcard. A recently unmasked Luchadore with a unique Rasta vibe. Still fairly new on the scene, this rough but exciting new talent was looking to make a splash in GBW, wanting to use Chapter 11 to draw attention to his skills. He'd never have a bigger chance - the normally determined and resilient Force was a trembling, ruined wreckage of a man after his one-sided destruction at the hands of John 'Asylum' Doe last month. He was a jabbering, incoherent mess.

Every time 'Boom Boom' hit an offensive move, Force kept trying to run away. He looked like he'd seen a ghost. The silly, traumatised little bastard had no interest in fighting, or the World Title shot he'd earn if he'd won. I kept having to throw him back into the ring every time he ran for his life. The fans saw him screaming and crying and laughed their arses off - clearly sympathy isn't a trait the people of Leigh posess. He eventually wriggled past me and my half-arsed 'security force', and sprinted away backstage, wailing like a baby. Our bemused referee Carmen Gil made the 10 count, making 'Boom Boom' Jamaica GBW's newest member.

In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Boom Boom Jamaica defeated Timmy Force in 6:22 by count out.

Backstage Angle: Bhangra's Boyz Back In Business.

RJ Singh was inconsolable, grieving his loss at Chapter 10 against Sam Bailey. He was disappointed at losing out on a shot at the GBW World Title, but even more disappointed at losing the chance at vengeance with Joey Hayes. His allies in the Bhangra Knights told him he had nothing to be ashamed of - he only lost because of the demented clown Eddie Vega and his terrifying, blood-thirsty lion Gerald after all. They told Singh this was a great opportunity to re-focus on the Tag Team Titles. With the Hayes distraction out of the way, they could focus on making The Bhangra Knights a household name. As the first and only Tag Champions in GBW history, they could create a real legacy for themselves. Singh seemed uplifted by this, and the scene ended with a smile on Singh's face for the first time in months.

Backstage Angle (Earlier Tonight): Dark Dealings

"As to why you would want so badly to join a tiny little company as this, is beyond my comprehension. However I can offer you a way in. If you do battle with my client Blood tonight, and win, I will force that fool Marx to give you a contract. And if you don't win? What is there for you to lose? The roster of GBW presents no challenge at all to a warrior of Blood's standing. You, however, are of a much higher level. So, mister Allmark, shall we see you in the ring tonight?"

The shadowy figure of Messiah Hallberg sat back in his office, that sick smile of his tearing it's way across his face. We could just about make out the blurry figure of one of Britain's wrestling treasures Dean Allmark sat across the desk from him. The menacing giant 'Big Daddy' Walter and the twisted psychopath known only as Blood stood behind him, breathing down his neck. Could Allmark possibly refuse?

Blood (with Messiah Hallberg) vs Dean Allmark In A Wrestling Exhibition Presented By Messiah Hallberg.

Dean Allmark came to the ring dressed head to toe in the red, white and blue, waving the British Union Flag - the fans loved that patriotic stuff. They were rooting for him right away, before he even got in the ring. He'd need their support too. As the psychotic Blood, the towering colossus Walter and the shadowy, mysterious Hallberg made their way into battle behind him, the scale of the task was plain for all to see.

<img src="
style="width:75%;">

Allmark has such crisp aerial and technical skills that the highly respected All Star Wrestling made him their head trainer. He did well at first, matching the brilliant mat-work of his sociopathic foe. After some sublime technical back-and-forth, Allmark threw his high-flying arsenal into the mix, swinging control on his favour. A crushing Deanosault looked to have it won, but Blood kicked out after 1. A massive Frog Splash would have defeated most, but Blood shrugged it off, seemingly impervious to pain. Allmark rolled out of the ring to regroup - a big mistake. Walter was on him instantly, unleashing what our YouTube followers would label as 'The Gorilla Press Slam From Hell.' Quite how referee Carmen Gil managed to not see a 7ft giant lifting the terrified Allmark almost to the ceiling remains a mystery, but it was enough to help seal the win for Blood.

In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Blood defeated Dean Allmark in 18:16 by pinfall with a Shiranui kai Moonsault. During the match we also saw Messiah Hallberg distract Dean Allmark, and Walter interfere against Dean Allmark.

Angle: Mad Marx.

As soon as the match was finished I dived into the ring to start throwing my (non-existent) weight around. I was PISSED. I was angry that Walter had ruined a great match and stopped the talented Dean Allmark from winning a place in GBW. I was even more furious that Walter threw his big match last time at Chapter 10, and allowed the dangerous psychopath Blood back in to GBW. I decreed that if Walter EVER lost again, he'd be banned from GBW for life!

'Big Daddy' Walter (with Messiah Hallberg) vs 'Party Boy' Liam Slater

The fans were still applauding my new rule as 'Bangarang' by Skrillex filled the air, and it was PARTY TIME. The fans were dancing in their seats as 'Party Boy' Liam Slater raved his way to the ring. They lost their minds as the popular 'Session Moth' Martina joined him. These two had become friends, after enjoying a beer or 20 together. Slater was still a big underdog, but having Martina by his side evened things up a little.

As it turned out, this match was like Godzilla's destruction of Tokyo. It was like a ravenous Great White mauling a surfer. Like a giant swatting a fly. Slater launched at him with a blur of punches and kicks, showing tremendous stamina, but everything just bounced off the Austrian behemoth with no effect. Even Slater's biggest moves caused barely a grimace. Then Walter decided to get nasty.

I can't even count the number of times that poor bastard Slater got dropped on his head. There were impact moves so hard I was scared they'd break the ring (again). A Chokeslam shook the rafters. A Dominator nearly took the lights out. But no matter what Walter threw at him, Slater would not give up. He took ridiculous levels of damage but somehow managed to peel his battered shoulders off the canvas every pinfall. Martina tried running in to help but was quickly thrown out the ring like a rag doll. Slater gained huge respect for his gutsy display, but Walter was enjoying maiming his smaller opponent. It finally, mercifully ended with a Chokeslam from the top rope. Slater landed in a crumpled heap. The referee didn't even do the count - she waved this one off immediately and the medics peeled him off the mat like a sticker. Slater got tremendous respect from the fans for his never-say-die performance. Even in defeat Slater emerged with his reputation enhanced. Walter just enjoyed being paid to hurt someone.

In a bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, WALTER defeated Liam Slater in 12:57 by pinfall with a Top Rope Chokeslam. The match also had a lot of interference: Messiah Hallberg distracted Liam Slater, Blood distracted Liam Slater, and finally Martina distracted Walter.

Match rating: 36.

Angle: Further Punishment.

The match was over, but the bad guys weren't done yet. Hallberg laughed sadistically as Blood and Walter kicked lumps out of the battered and broken Slater. Session Moth, who had surprisingly assisted Slater during the match, tried dragging his attackers off him, but to no avail. Even her kicks and punches had no effect, as Blood and Walter continued their brutal beat-down. GBW's ramshackle 'security team' tried to intervene but Walter effortlessly threw them out like garbage. It looked like Slater was going to be hospitalised, but help came from an unexpected source.

John 'Asylum' Doe came charging to the ring, throwing Hallberg and Blood over the top rope. His eyes were full of bloodlust - you could see it through the holes in his blood-spattered hockey mask. He wasn't here to save anybody - he was here to claim the next victim on his hit list! With a giant, scrawny arm he pointed to Walter as his next opponent, before making a throat-slitting gesture. For the first time the seemingly indestructible Walter looked scared.

I went to ring the bell but Blood and Hallberg intercepted me before I could make the match official. Momentarily distracted by the events at ringside, Walter took his eye off Asylum for a split-second. That was all the time Doe needed to Chokeslam the 400lbs Austrian Giant! The noise of his huge body smashing against the canvas sent a shockwave through the building. GBW's 'security' surrounded Asylum before hell could break loose. Asylum did what comes naturally to him in these situations, and Chokeslammed every one of them out their boots. Walter fled to safety while Asylum was distracted, hobbling to the back with the help of Hallberg and Blood. I had no hesitation in making Asylum vs Walter for our next show!
Angle rating: 47.

Angle: A New Team.

'Session Moth' Martina surprised a few people when she ran in to help 'Party Boy' Liam Slater during the bout. Having taken cover backstage while Doe commenced his onslaught, Martina helped her new ally recover his senses via the healing magic of Vodka & Red Bull. They the announced their new alliance - named #RAVE - and challenged The Bhangra Knights to defend their titles. The Knights turned up and happily accepted. The match was made for next show, Chapter 12!. Slater, still looking like he'd been run over by a steamroller, then wished his new tag partner good luck, as she was up next!

'Session Moth' Martina vs Toni Storm - Winner Faces Cruz For #1 Contender's Spot For The GBW World Title.

For quite a few of the fans in attendance, the only experience of women's wrestling they'd had was the boiled crap they served on Raw and Smackdown back in the Trish Stratus days - which is roughly the time a lot of them gave up on wrestling. Hopefully this match won a few of them back. I could see them getting very excited at seeing women's wrestling with genuine skill, ability and psychology.

We made sure this was an open, 50/50 match so both athletes could showcase their skills. I can confidently say what we displayed in that ring was better than half the men's wrestling anywhere in the country. Session Moth, powered by countless Strongbow Dark Fruits Ciders and a dozen cans of Monster Energy Drink, utilized some superb high-flying. Toni countered with crisp submissions and eye-catching brawling. Liam Slater tried running distraction duties from ringside, but could barely move after his brave but devastating run-in with Walter. He should've been in a hospital, not at ringside. There had to be a winner though, with Storm narrowly getting the victory thanks to her Super Zero finisher - and most importantly - a shot at becoming #1 Contender to the GBW World Title!

In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Toni Storm defeated Martina in 12:54 by pinfall with a Strong Zero. During the match we also had Liam Slater distract Toni Storm.

Backstage Angle: A Confrontation.

Hayes and The Prestige confronted Bailey backstage, and like any wrestling bad guys worth their salt, threatened him. It was like junior school bullies singling out a kid to pick on in the playground. Bailey wasn't intimidated though. He told them his whole career has been building towards becoming GBW Champion - it was all he'd thought about since day one. The Prestige laughed in his face and walked off back to their private suite to drink brandy and smoke cigars.

Backstage Promo: Eddie And Gerald.

The children watching our show were happy and joyful, their little faces full of wonder. We decided to put an end to all that by giving Eddie Vega screen time. The creepy, psychotic clown cut a backstage promo that Stephen King would've been proud of, declaring war on Bailey, Slater, The Prestige... everyone who hurt his muse Jokey.

"My father Thorsten Vega was a professional clown. Even when not in make-up people would mock him, belittle him, spit at him. They did this to him every day in front of his own family. More fool them. For one day the ritual humiliation became too much, and a great awakening happened. He saw how small and weak and soul-less these fools were. He saw them for what they were: prey. And in that moment he became the predator.

He would creep in to their houses at night, watching them as they slept. He ate their food. He wore their clothes. He drove their cars. He discovered all their secrets. The people of the town suspected my father was preying upon them but could never prove it. But they had smelled his hot breath upon their skin in their slumber. They had heard the sound of his feet as their floor-boards creaked beneath him. They could hear his laughter in their waking nightmares. And they laughed at him no more.

To the glassy-eyed, mindless rodents that denied me of my muse Jokey, I swear I shall do the same. I shall follow your every move. I shall know every vice, every weakness, every fear you hold so deep within you. I shall creep upon you like goosebumps upon your skin. And one by one I shall take you down. The light of my life was taken away by your violence, plunging my world into darkness. And it is with triumphant laughter that I shall bring this darkness into your lives. I will wait until you are vulnerable. I will wait until you are defenseless. And then, as my father did, I shall strike you down."

The scene faded to black as Vega's pet lion Gerald noisily ripped apart flesh from bone. The scene cut with the image of the lion's massive, blood-covered fangs gnawing murderously upon bones.
Angle rating: 49.

Angle: Another New Team.

Earl Black Jr and David Finlay Jr were backstage. They made their partnership official by naming themselves The Future. As 3rd and 4th generation superstars, they see themselves conquering the sport of wrestling for years before them, just as their illustrious families did before them. They declared they would not rest until they had their revenge on The Prestige for firing them and humiliating them. They thanked the GBW fans for having their back, promising to remove The Prestige for them, and for all of wrestling.

Joey Hayes vs 'Super' Sam Bailey - For The GBW World Title.

The fans were buzzing in anticipation for one of the biggest matches in our history. Our team of under-paid, un-washed student video geeks did amazing work, juxtaposing footage of Bailey's trials and struggles over the past year against The Prestige and more specifically their co-leader Joey Hayes. Hayes and his cronies stood smugly and triumphantly in the ring, parading the World Title between the four of them, taunting Bailey that he would never have it. Before 'Super' Sam could get into the ring, I prevented the inevitable ambush by sending The Prestige away. They weren't happy about it but for once GBW's ramshackle 'security' force actually did their job. There'd be no shenanigans to ruin this one. I got on the mic and told referee Carmen Gil to disqualify Hayes at the first sign of cheating or outside interference. I announced that if Hayes was disqualified, Bailey would get the title. This was going to be a fair fight, no matter what.

Looking back, I never felt this battle got the credit it deserved from the so-called 'experts'. Sure, it wasn't exactly Wrestlemania main event standard, but for a microscopic fed like ours it was a damned good match. The first half had Hayes freaking out without his Prestige comrades to help him. We played it up on commentary that Joey's game-plan had gone straight out the window the moment Cruz, Sebastian and Tate were sent away. Bailey however had been preparing for this moment for months. Every high-flying move he hit looked like it could be a match-winner. The crowd ate up every near-fall like it was some kind of epic Shakespearean drama. Hayes was no pushover though. As he had against the likes of opponents like the giant Walter, he showed us all why he wore that belt. Bailey hit every manoeuvre in his arsenal but Hayes would just not quit. Finally Sam made his first mistake - giving Hayes enough time to get his knees up during a Springboard Moonsault. Then it was the champion's time to shine.

Despite looking like he'd been run over by every stampeding bull at Pamplona, Hayes fought like a man possessed. He had a half crazed, half determined look in his eyes as he slashed Bailey to shreds with chops that'd make Ric Flair wince. He then set about removing his challenger's legs from the equation, hoping to nullify his aerial attacks. Every submission was locked on with an intensity as if he was trying to cripple his opponent, not just make them submit. Bailey's screams could be heard from outside the building. There were Boston Crabs, Rolling Ankle Locks, Sharpshooters, Texas Cloverleafs, Indian Deathlocks, STFs and more - all applied with demented ferocity. But like his nemesis, Bailey too would let nothing stop him. As Hayes doubled down on a devastating-looking Figure Four Leg-lock, Bailey somehow found the strength to turn his opponent over. The move was now reversed, all the pressure and pain was now shooting through the defending champion, who scrambled for the ropes to break the hold. This bought Bailey the split-second reprieve he needed. Somehow he managed to leap over his opponent, pulling a La Magistral Cradle pin out of nowhere. The fans were ecstatic as they heard the sweetest 1... 2... 3 in GBW's early history! We had a new champion, after one hell of a battle!

In a good match, Sam Bailey defeated Joey Hayes in 16:23 by flash pinfall. Sam Bailey wins the GBW World title.

Angle: A Moment Of Glory.

Bailey could barely stand after his hellacious battle and the punishment Hayes inflicted on his legs. But he somehow managed to pull himself to his feet using the ring ropes. The fans - all 95 of them - chanted his name in unison. Even through the pained expression, you could clearly see this victory meant the world to Sam. He clutched the title belt to his heart, cradling it like a baby. So many emotions were etched upon his face. Excitement, joy, relief, awe.

The camera moved across to ringside to see the reaction of the fallen champion. People expected him to be enraged or beside himself with grief. But no, instead there was an amused, smug, shit-eating grin on his face. His cronies The Prestige came and stood beside him, and it quickly became apparent something shady was going on.
Angle rating: 51.

Angle: Not So Fast.

Nathan Cruz could barely contain his joy as he strutted into the ring, snatched the mic, and announced he was cashing in his #1 Contender's spot, right there and then. I'd previously demanded to know why he'd held on to it for 11 months, wondering why he never seized the opportunity for a shot at the championship gold. But it was now clear this had been his plan all along. The #1 Contender's spot was The Prestige's insurance policy should Hayes be defeated. Sam Bailey was distraught. Having just fought the battle of his life, he was in no condition to defend himself.

I ran towards the ring to try and stop the screwjob from happening, but before I could prevent this, Cruz was all over his weakened opponent. The bell rang before I could object. Bailey's fans were already throwing trash into the ring in disgust.

'Super' Sam Bailey vs Nathan Cruz - For The GBW World Title.

Cruz went at Bailey with a sadistic smile. He took his time dishing out punishment to the exhausted, battered Bailey. He taunted him. He mocked him. 'Super' Sam got a couple of moves in, but realistically he never stood a chance, especially with The Prestige back at ringside.

As in his bout with Hayes moments ago, Bailey would just not quit. He was too brave for his own good, but there is only so much punishment a human being can take. The end came when Cruz had him in what the fans later called "The Walls Of Jericho From Fücking Hell". Bailey made it to within millimetres of the bottom rope, was SO close to escape... when Cruz leaned back even further. There was a horrific 'crack'. The crowd fell silent. Bailey passed out almost instantly. A close-up showed tears of exasperation in the fallen champion's face as referee Carmen Gil waved off the bout.

An atmosphere of joy and celebration quickly took on the air of a funeral. The fans were pissed as The Prestige quickly escaped to the back with the GBW World Title still in their possession. Deafening boos filled the air as our show went off air, with Bailey barely conscious, lying in the ring, almost in tears.

In a good match, Nathan Cruz defeated Sam Bailey in 8:52 when Nathan Cruz defeated Sam Bailey by referee stoppage. During the match we also saw Sebastian distract Sam Bailey, and Garrett Tate also distract Sam Bailey. Nathan Cruz wins the GBW World title. 54.

The One That Potentially Gets Me Banned From The Forum

"That's some gimmick you've got there, kid. I've never known anything like it. Nobody's ever seen a Jamaican Luchadore before. Where'd you get the inspiration from?"

I asked the man before me, cracking open a beer and inhaling it in one seamlessly deft move. GBW's newest signing had his answer well-prepared.

Boom-Boom:
"It's a swipe at all the assumptions people made about me growing up. I'm half Nigerian. My surname's Okdiwanimbo - I couldn't sound more African if I tried. Yet the kids at my school hadn't seen a black person before. They got it into their heads that I must've been a spliff-smoking Rasta boy from Jamaica, because of the colour of my skin and my hair. I spent nearly a decade living with that crap. Everyone saw a black kid and thought I was Bob Marley or something. People really were
that
stupid back then, and things aren't much better now.

So I invented the whole Jamiacan Lunchadore thing as a 'screw you' to all those ignorant, racist pricks I was surrounded by growing up. I had a green and black Lucha Libre mask and everything when I started out, but I ditched it before long - made my face sweat like crazy. Besides, I didn't get into wrestling until late. Not many people wanted to hire a 32 year old novice, but the Jamaica thing set me apart, got me noticed, and got me work."

I leaned back in the fancy new leather chair I'd found floating in the canal, and set about stroking my chin like some wise old sage. I could tell he'd told the tale a thousand times in a thousand places with the rhythmic grace of a raconteur. But I wasn't buying it.

Marx:
"That's a great story. It really is. But I'm not feeling it. There's more to this. Where'd the gimmick
really
come from?"

Boom-Boom:
"Like I said, things weren't easy growing up. A background like that forces you to be creative."

Marx:
"Cut the crap, Okdiwanimbo. Tell me the
real
story. Where'd this 'Boom-Boom Jamaica' thing
really
come from?"

I stared at him unblinkingly like a detective cracking down on a criminal in one of those gritty old black and white movies. Maybe in another life I'd have made a great cop, were it not for the flagrant boozing and the fact I have all the stamina of fresh roadkill. My eyes were locked upon his, however, and within seconds the facade came tumbling down.

Boom-Boom:
"I blatantly stole the idea for the character from a computer game. It's a highly addictive little thing called Total Extreme Wrestling. Have you heard of it?"

http://twistededge.org/People/!_GEN%20MALE%20005.jpghttp://twistededge.org/People/Boom-Boom%20Jamaica.jpg

Marx:
"Sounds stupid. Or kinky. Or both. What do people even
do
in this crappy game?"

Boom-Boom:
"It's not crappy. You get to be in control of running a wrestling promotion. The player gets to be the booker. It's great."

Marx:
"Who the hell would want to be a booker? It's a nightmare. I'm a booker and I wouldn't wish this shit on my worst enemy. If this job gets any more stressful, my doctor tells me I'm gonna shit out my own heart."

Boom-Boom:
"I just really liked the character's name, and mask, and everything. I copied the lot... until I un-masked, obviously."

Marx:
"Isn't that Copyright Infringement or something? Aren't the people who make that game going to start throwing lawyers at us? I can't afford to defend this company in a lawsuit, Boom-Boom. Hell, I can barely afford to pay
you.
Finances are
tight.
I had to sell my next door neighbour's cat just to keep the lights on this month. If that mad old cow finds out what's happened to Mister Tiddlesworth, I'm doomed. We can't keep roaches out of this place, let alone a lawyer infestation."

Boom-Boom:
"I wouldn't worry, Jonny. The game's made by a guy called Adam Ryland. I hear he's a wonderful guy. Practically a saint. He wouldn't come after a tiny little company like GBW, he's a lovely man."

Marx:
"This is wrestling, Boom-Boom. There are no lovely men here. Just snakes. Poisonous, venomous snakes everywhere, all just waiting to pounce and sink their sticky little fangs in when you least expect it. This Adam Ryland's no different, I bet. He can kiss my ass."

Boom-Boom:
"What?!"

Marx:
"You heard me. Adam Ryland can kiss my ass."

Boom-Boom:
"You don't mean that, surely? You've never even met the guy! He's a genius! His games bring joy and happiness to... like... dozens of people."

Marx:
"Adam Ryland can kiss my big, hairy, sweaty arse. I said it. And now it's been said, I can't un-say it."

Boom-Boom:
"We're going to get in a lot of trouble for this.
You're
going to get in a lot of trouble for this."

Marx:
"You're the one who picked the God-damned gimmick. You're the one who was too lazy to think up a name and act of your own. Look, just do your best to entertain the fans, ok? Hopefully they'll be too giddy to notice you're not even
slightly
Jamaican."

Boom-Boom:
"True. But being honest and writing 'Gary From Kent' on your posters wouldn't sell many tickets, would it? Boom-Boom Jamaica is the future, trust me."

Marx:
"I'm going to regret all this, aren't I?"

The One Where We Gambled Everything

http://twistededge.org/GBW.jpg

http://twistededge.org/Chapter12.jpg

<img src="http://twistededge.org/biohazard-covid19.jpg" style="width:36%;">

GBW Presents: The Invitational Title Tournament.

With the UK-wide pandemic slowly getting under control, things were close to getting back to normal. The government were slowly allowing people out of their homes. Businesses and shops were slowly re-opening. The citizens of Leigh were desperate for entertainment - anything to take their minds off strangling their families - and I knew just the thing to provide it for them. Due to the success of the New Blood Series, we decided to take things a step further. We upped the ante by introducing the GBW Invitational Title.

Finances were so tight that our accountant had a nervous breakdown every time I ordered pizza. But I was feeling cocky after keeping Great British Wrestling alive, against all odds, for a whole year. I wanted to push the company to the next level. We had to turn the little bit of momentum we'd drummed up during the Covid-19 Lockdown into some real support for the company.
It was now or never. Go big, or go home. It was time to put GBW on the map.

The Invitational Title Tournament was the biggest gamble in our company's history. If it worked, it would establish us as a genuine promotion, not the tin-can piss-poor joke of a company so many 'industry insiders' perceived us to be. If it didn't work, we'd be bankrupt. Dead. Buried. This really was a case of all or nothing.

<hr>

How The Tournament Works:

12 competitors from outside of GBW will be drawn at random against 12 of GBW's 'biggest stars'. The 12 winners would face each other in the Quarter Finals, then the last 6 in the Semis, with a Triple Threat Final to find the winner. Every finalist gets a permanent spot in GBW (if they don't already have one), with our prestigious new belt going to the winner.

<hr>

How The Invitational Title Works:

If the belt is held by a non-GBW wrestler:

• The champion defends against members of GBW, as chosen by me.

• The identity of the opponent is kept secret until the match is about to begin.

• If the champion makes 5 successful defenses, they become a fully-fledged member of the GBW roster, vacate the title and fight for the World Title at the earliest opportunity.

If the belt is held by a member of GBW:

• The title will be defended against superstars from other companies. This could be any wrestler from any country, any size, any gender, any style.

• Whether the opponent's identity is kept a secret depends on my mood and / or whether the champion's pissed me off or not.

• If the champion makes 5 successful consecutive defenses, they vacate the title to fight for the GBW World Title at the earliest opportunity.

<hr>

The 12 Outsiders:

As a big 'thank you' to those who had supported us so far, we identified a group of 'super fans' who had provided their support throughout our first year. We let each of them pick a wrestler (or two, or three) for the tournament. The remainder was made up of old GBW favourites and a couple of talented workers from the UK scene:

For reasons beyond his control, however, these performances hadn't turned into victories. The online fans of GBW convinced me to give Davis one more chance. A full-time spot in the company could be his if he could get as far as the finals, but he had the cunning and crafty Sebastian standing in his way... and his buddies The Prestige not far behind. Stakes could not be higher, especially after I announced that if he lost this match, Davis would never get another shot in GBW ever again. This really was his last chance at glory.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> <hr></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><span>http://twistededge.org/People2/Joe%20Nelson.jpg</span><span>http://twistededge.org/VS2.jpg</span><span>http://twistededge.org/People2/Prince%20Ameen.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><em>Joe Nelson vs Prince Ameen.</em></strong></span></span></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> Despite barely having conquered puberty, the high-speed wrestling dynamo Joe Nelson was looking to conquer the inaugural GBW Invitational Tournament, and springboard himself to fame in front of a new set of fans. He'd made appearances for promotions like PCW and IPW:UK in the past, and it was on the back of these that our online fans were excited to see what he could bring to GBW. As crazy as he was unpredictable, Lucky had a unique style that was near-impossible to figure out. He'd need it too against GBW's Jamaican Luchadore, the high-flying 'Boom Boom' Jamaica, who was riding a wave of momentum after his recent New Blood Series victory, and looking forward to catapulting himself to fame and glory by winning the Invitational Tournament.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> <hr></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><span>http://twistededge.org/People2/Mark%20Haskins.jpg</span><span>http://twistededge.org/VS2.jpg</span><span>http://twistededge.org/People2/Toni%20Storm.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><em>Mark Haskins vs Toni Storm.</em></strong></span></span></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> Our random draw brought about a match-up that had the online 'smarks' purring with anticipation. Mark Haskins has turned heads all over the world, winning titles across the globe, from Smash in Canada to Progress here in the UK. He was the total package, bringing lethal mat-wrestling, brawling and crushing high-flying to the tournament. As soon as his name was announced among the competitors, he was labelled as one of the favourites to win the whole thing. He'd have a huge challenge in his first bout though in Toni Storm - one of the most talented and athletic female competitors on the circuit. Storm was our newly crowned #1 Contender to the GBW World Title, and had a title shot against the controversial Nathan Cruz coming up soon. Nothing would give her momentum going in to that crucial battle like a win against an internationally recognised competitor like Haskins. This one was too close to call.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> <hr></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> Also on our next show...</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><span>http://twistededge.org/People2/RJ%20Singh.jpg</span><span>http://twistededge.org/People2/Tiger%20Ali.jpg</span><span>http://twistededge.org/VS2.jpg</span><span>http://twistededge.org/People2/Liam%20Slater.jpg</span><span>http://twistededge.org/People2/Martina.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><em>The Bhangra Knights (RJ Singh & Tiger Ali) vs #RAVE ('Party Boy' Liam Slater & 'Session Moth' Martina) - For the GBW Tag Team Titles.</em></strong></span></span></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> RJ Singh had dedicated himself to focusing on making the Bhangra Knights the most well-known, most dangerous tag team in Britain. He was looking forward to showing the fruits of that new-found commitment against the new alliance of Slater and Session. There were question marks hanging over this contest though - after the beating Slater took at the hands of the Austrian giant Walter last month, fans were worried that he'd rushed back too soon, and would be nowhere near 100%. And what about the demented Eddie Vega, who had promised violent revenge upon Slater? What impact would he have on proceedings? Only time would tell, in what was sure to be a fantastic, fast-paced battle.</span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> <hr></span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><em>Plus!
