OldSchoolMMA
What's up guys. About 6 months ago ive decided to work on a new mod starting from scratch, going through the whole vale tudo / mma history since 1980 until 2000. I edited over 700 pre-game shows and 3000+ pre-game results, and im proud to make correct records for all ACTIVE fighters who debuted before 2000. Also i decided to edit all game pictures to make them transparent, that wasnt a really smart choice because it takes so much time editing. The mod also is complete in terms of relationships, tournament wins, narrative, belt lineages, popularity, rankings and agers. What i need to do: - Finish editing pictures, achievements and fighters who debut after 2006. - Populate more the female MMA scene, i didnt put some effort on that. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ OldSchoolMMA 2000 Beta version 0.1 - 9 years of gameplay Credits: WecNeverDies, MacGowan and Tag01 for most of the pictures and broadcasters. Also thanks to Blackman for general help. - MOD: https://www.mediafire.com/file/odq1quoje60tbu2/OldSchoolMMA.rar/file Some notes: - I put the regions regulated because is just few years to regulate MMA. I did the same for the Fertitta brothers owning UFC. - Travis Fulton is the only active fighter that the record is not accurate. I dont have time and patience to edit a guy who makes 40 fights per year. - UPDATE 10-19 Added 2 more years of gameplay, fixed some issues and general improvements. Also added a bunch of new pictures.
CeaserValiant
This sounds great! I played vale tudo and I enjoyed it. I'd love a beta version because I know how high quality your mods are. Appreciate the effort you have already but into this mod.

Suede
Just had a scan through the data, and it is thorough I am most impressed. Will take some to play it soon and see how it goes. One thing i did notice is that the dates of the next Olympics and World Championships are out of date. Next Olympics is set for 1996 for example. But it shows I need to up my game a bit more for the 1997 mod. Again, great work.
lukas_pelant
This is almost perfect. Kept me entertained for 2-3 straight. It flows incredibly, just the right amount of everything, companies, characters... I love it! Also I noticed that it has a few characters who dont have organic biographies, but that is an easy fix and got a few error messages when I was snooping around in the editor

Yeah i dont think that part of the game too interesting so i keep disabled, but i can enable again if people like it, no problem. About your mod, dont get discouraged! I could offer my help but there is so much work to do with this one, i cant handle 2 mods. But feel free to import any data you want from mine! Kollin
Wow, this is tremendous. As I've said in other threads, I've been editing and supplementing your 1993 mod quite a bit. I'm gonna try to incorporate this into it as well. Might end up posting my finished product.

Nachtfalter
<p>Just like with your 1993 mod, you've very clearly put a lot of effort into this - the amount of work that you must have put into the accurate fight histories alone is incredible, so already thank you very, very much!</p><p> </p><p> I've only just started looking around, but here's some things that stuck out to me so far: In January of 2000, the UFC was still owned by SEG to the best of my knowledge. I believe Zuffa was founded and took over in early 2001. Similarly, the now-standard weight classes were introduced in 2001. In 2000, the UFC called the 205 pound weight class Middleweight and the 170 pound weight class Lightweight if I'm not mistaken (e.g. Frank Shamrock was UFC Middleweight champion, not UFC Light Heavyweight champion - even though the weight class would later become the Light Heavyweight division and thus his reign is part of the lineage of what's now the Light Heavyweight title). Not sure if that's on purpose for the ease of future gameplay, but it kind of hurts immersion into the time period for me.</p><p> </p><p> Also, and this is really just my personal view, I have a hard time accepting PRIDE as an International sized company. The size system in WMMA in general doesn't really simulate reality well, so there's not really any right or wrong way to approach company sizes, but for my personal game, I'll probably try how it plays with the UFC as High Regional and PRIDE as Low or Medium National.</p><p> The same essentially goes for some fighter popularities. I wasn't an MMA fan in 2000, so I can't really call to personal experience, but I doubt that, for example, Randy Couture would qualify for National popularity in 2000.</p>

Bob Meyrowitz would be the owner for a long time. I did the same for weight classes and regulated regions. The ideal would be a 2001 mod but i couldnt handle one more year of editing records and events.</p><p> About the weight class name, PRIDE didnt had a Light Heavyweight class also, it was called Middleweight. I've decided to unify weight classes just to not mess with world rankings, it would be a little confusing so i made it simple.</p><p> </p><p> Finally about popularity, PRIDE was huge in japan and you cant really compare to UFC at the time, it would be unfair to put PRIDE next to UFC in popularity since PRIDE was doing shows to 60000+ people supported by a huge TV contract and UFC was doing really small shows without any TV deal, so i think these are fine. </p><p> Some fighters popularity i based to the company size, for example Randy never came to the sport as a totally unknown, he was an elite wrestler with a bunch of olympic trials runs, so for me this is a mid or high level regional already. He got the UFC belt in 1997 and UFC is a Low National company, so i thought it was fair made him a Low National fighter.</p>

Bob Meyrowitz would be the owner for a long time. I did the same for weight classes and regulated regions. The ideal would be a 2001 mod but i couldnt handle one more year of editing records and events. I absolutely get that. Again, the detailed results are amazing - thank you so much for the effort! It's always a toss-up between (for lack of a better term) "cosmetic" realism and gameplay and I'm sure you made the right calls going for smoother gameplay. Nachtfalter
<p><img alt="F2JNbwG.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/F2JNbwG.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Just finished my first year playing as the UFC with this mod (slightly edited) and I have to say, I'm having a blast. Certainly one of my most fun WMMA 5 games so far.</p><p> </p><p> One of my edits was to give Wanderlei Silva non-exclusive contracts with both PRIDE and the UFC because I wanted to recreate the Tito vs. Wanderlei fight for the vacant 205 UFC title. I somewhat expected Tito to win like he did in reality (he was a slight favourite in the game, too), but of course, he didn't. Wanderlei knocked him out with a first round knee just like he had Sanae Kikuta to earn his place in the match for the vacant title. Subsequently, he also knocked out Ikuhisa Minowa (who, honestly, I gave the titleshot to mostly because PRIDE was in the process of stealing him from me and I was fairly certain Wanderlei would send him to the competition with a loss) with a 2nd round knee.</p><p> In summary, I would have given Wanderlei the fighter of the year, but Pedro Rizzo certainly has a case as well.</p><p> </p><p> Pedro only had two fights in the year, beating Kevin Randleman for the UFC Heavyweight title in a short, but thrilling fight (TKO via leg kicks in round 2 after nearly being ground and pounded into dust himself in round 1) and then defended the strap via close (and, in my mind, somewhat controversial) split decision over Josh Barnett.</p><p> </p><p> I'm looking forward to playing on and increasing my number of UFC events (I'm trying to play somewhat realistic, so I only had seven events in 2000 - my plan is to have one more each year) and especially to the Wanderlei vs. Dan Henderson 205 title fight I have set up after stealing Hendo from RINGS...</p>
