Thank you for the tips. This alone is actually pretty helpful as I always get close but can't get the end look I want and this sounds like a step I've been missing. I was able to download your file but my laptop won't open the files saying they are an invalid format. I have no idea why this happening and was wondering if you might have any ideas? You need Paint.net or similar, as regular Paint can't handle multi layer files.
