<b>THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS W/JIM CORNETTE VS OWEN HART AND PAUL DIAMOND</b><span style="font-weight:normal;">

The Midnight Express show off their style with complete control of the match. Cornette is non-stop running his mouth which is super annoying. Condrey slams Hart close to their corner and tags Eaton who goes to the top and hits an impressive leg drop for the win.

WINNERS BY PINFALL: THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS

Jim Cornette and his men come over to David Crockett. Cornette rants and raves about his men, calling them the greatest tag team in the history of the world. He goes on to call the Rock and Roll Express frauds and losers and tells us all that the pecking order begins and ends with Loverboy Dennis and Beautiful Bobby...every girl’s dream and every father’s nightmare...the Midnight Express.

<b>DUTCH MANTELL W/JAMES J. DILLON VS ICEMAN KING PARSONS</b>

Parsons is a fan favorite and the crowd is on his side but that doesn’t overcome Mantell’s rough and tumble nature and Dillon’s dirty tricks on the outside. Mantell holds the advantage and ends the match with a running knee after putting Parsons in the tree of woe.

WINNER BY PINFALL: DUTCH MANTELL

<b>STEVE WILLIAMS VS DENNY BROWN</b>

A very short match. Williams mauls Brown, who is a good wrestler but William’s speed and power can’t be matched and following a bevy of power moves, Williams ends it with the Ura Nage.

David Crockett makes a huge announcement. This Sunday on World Wide Wrestling the legendary Gordon Solie sits down with a one on one interview with the man who shocked the wrestling world in Baltimore...Roddy Piper.

<b>GINO HERNANDEZ VS DENNIS STAMP</b>

Hernandez is under pressure from the veteran Stamp who knows all the ins and outs of the ring and keeps the advantage by doing anything he wants when the referee isn’t watching but Hernandez feeds off the crowd and makes his comeback, rocking Stamp with several fast paced offensive flurries before nailing the Deposit for the win.

WINNER BY PINFALL: GINO HERNANDEZ

Tony Schiavone is about to thank us for tuning in when the American Dream walks out and puts his arm around Schiavone with a big smile. Tony asks Dusty if he has anything to say but Rhodes declines saying he’ll do all his talking next week so everyone better tune in to see it because it will be the biggest news of 1985!

Bob Caudle and Buddy Colt welcome us to the show. They hype that we’ll see Terry Gordy, The Great Kabuki, Buddy Landel, and the Fantastics in action. In addition we’ll sit in on a must-see interview between the legendary Gordon Solie and Roddy Piper. All that AND the NWA United States Champion Magnum T.A. here in studio.

<b>TERRY GORDY VS TED OATES</b><span style="font-weight:normal;">

Gordy is in a foul mood and takes all his frustrations out on Oates who doesn’t stand a chance. Gordy finishes it off with the Oriental Spike.

WINNER BY PINFALL: TERRY GORDY

We go to a pre taped video of Gordon Solie sitting with Roddy Piper. Piper starts off by saying he requested Solie for this because of the respect he has for him.

Solie asks him why he returned to the NWA. Piper says the key is opportunity. He was in a place where there was no opportunity no matter how good he was with a microphone or in the ring. A man like him cannot accept that. And he’d keep an eye on other areas of the country and he saw someone like Ricky Steamboat getting opportunity after opportunity after opportunity. That just drives Piper crazy so he’s back to get his piece of the pie and that starts now with that Television Title.

Solie asks Piper if he has any regrets for attacking Steamboat the way he did. Piper nods and then smiles and says he wishes he’d hit him harder.

<b>THE GREAT KABUKI W/GARY HART VS JOE SAVOLDI</b>

Kabuki dominates Savoldi with a series of martial arts strikes and kicks. He occasionally uses some nerve holds to disable Savoldi before Hart yells for him to finish him. Kabuki climbs to the second rope with Savoldi on his back, before walking on the ropes a few steps. Kabuki jumps off the rope, driving a fist down into Savoldi’s chest. It gets an easy three count.

WINNER BY PINFALL: THE GREAT KABUKI

<b>BUDDY LANDEL VS MIKE GRAHAM</b>

A good back and forth match which sees both men get in a good amount of offense. The turning point comes when Landel hits a chop block from behind on Graham’s left leg. He targets it with a few more attacks before putting him in the Figure Four for the submission.

WINNER BY SUBMISSION: BUDDY LANDEL

We see Jimmy Garvin and Missy in his locker room. His hair is ready, his sequined jacket is sparkling, he’s ready for his debut but right before they head out the door he stops in a panic. The boots! These are not his lucky boots. Missy apologizes frantically searching for the other boots. Garvin pleads with her to find them but when they don’t turn up he just sighs and says his public will just have to wait a little bit longer to see the Gorgeous One.

<b>THE FANTASTICS VS BARRY ORTON AND STEVE LOMBARDI</b>

Lombardi and Orton have initial success in the match but when Fulton makes the hot tag the Fantastics completely take the match over and through their smooth tags and legal double teams they end up winning with a Rocket Launcher.

WINNERS BY PINFALL: THE FANTASTICS

NWA United States Champion Magnum T.A. joins Caudle and Colt. He says he heard Larry Zbysko last week running his mouth and calling him out. Well here he is, but of course Zybysko is nowhere to be se….

Zybysko suddenly enters the scene as Caudle and Colt hurry to get away from the desk. Zybysko blindsides Magnum before slamming his head off the desk. With the champ down behind the desk and out of sight, Zybysko picks up the belt and continuously swings downward presumably connecting with the champion multiple times. Zybysko backs off for a moment, mocking the champ and saying he’s out of his league. As Magnum pulls himself up to his knees, we see a streak of blood running down the middle of his forehead before Zybysko runs in a final time kicking him in the side of the head. As people move in to help Magnum the show goes to black.

<b>RON BASS W/JAMES J. DILLON VS GEORGE SOUTH</b><span style="font-weight:normal;">

Bass controls the match from beginning to end just being an all around miserable person in punishing South. Dillon enjoys himself at ringside and when Bass decides he’s done he hits South with the Texas Gourdbuster for the win.

WINNER BY PINFALL: RON BASS

Tony Schiavone hypes a big show tomorrow night in Jacksonville.

<b>TOMMY RICH VS BOB ROOP</b>

Roop controls the early going but Rich takes over halfway through and puts Roop on his heels. With his opponent staggered Rich bounds off the ropes and hits the Thesz Press for the win.

WINNER BY PINFALL: TOMMY RICH

<b>KIMALA W/GARY HART VS MANDO GUERERRO</b>

Mando uses his speed to roll away from Kimala’s charges in the beginning of the match but when he tries a cross body block, Kimala catches him and slams him into the mat with a thud. From there it’s elementary as the savage punishes Mando until he hits the running splash for the win.

WINNER BY PINFALL: KIMALA

The NWA World Tag Team Champions, Ole and Arn Anderson join David Crockett at the interview desk. Arn says that when you look across the NWA this may be the golden age of tag team wrestling. There are great teams all across the country but there are only one set of world tag team champions and you’re looking at them. Ole nods in agreement and adds that they’re not hard to find but warns they’re damn near impossible to beat.

<b>TERRY TAYLOR W/ROBIN GREEN VS THE MASKED SUPERSTAR</b>

Superstar controls the first half of the match with a meticulous vicious streak. He looks like he wants to chop down Taylor like an ax but Taylor feeds off the audience and his girl at ringside and makes a comeback. After taking it to his opponent, Taylor whips Superstar into the corner, then puts him on the top, climbs up after him and brings him back down with a superplex for the win.

WINNER BY PINFALL: TERRY TAYLOR

NWA World Champion Ric Flair comes out to join Tony Schiavone. Flair is all smiles and boasts about his expensive attire but before he goes much further, Dusty Rhodes walks out to meet him.

Dusty says that back at the Bash, when Flair needed it he was there. He says they have always had their differences but man to man he respects Flair as the best, as the MAN, because he carries that belt. He says that Flair owes him one and it’s time he cashes in those chips. The Nature Boy...versus the America Dream….for the NWA World Championship...at Starrcade.

The crowd cheers and obviously wants it to happen. Flair looks to the people, then to Rhodes, and sticks out his hand. Dusty shakes it as Schiavone announces we have the biggest match of the year and it’ll happen at Starrcade. He reminds us to come back next week as Flair and Rhodes, with hands still clasped, stare each other down.

The Malenkos use technical savvy to break down Tommy Rogers, keeping him isolated and when Dean locks in a cloverleaf it looks like it may be over but Rogers feeds off the crowd and gets to the rope. A few moments later he makes the tag to Fulton who takes the match over. Rogers is in a few moments after that and they sling the brothers into one another. With Joe flat on his back the Fantastics hit the Rocket Launcher for the win. </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Irwin tries to whip Houston into the corner but Sam reverses it and Irwin takes a jump bump into the post. He staggers around and Houston opens up on him. Solie asks about the cage match which saw Ricky Steamboat become the new Television Champion and Heenan goes off on a tangent about how nobody was being fair to them. They were cheated and the NWA ignores them but one way or the other, Dusty Rhodes is going to pay for what he’s done, if it’s the last thing they do. As Heenan rants, Blanchard sits there wearing sunglasses, his face emotionless. Solie thanks them for their time but Heenan isn’t done. That doesn’t stop the segment from cutting him off mid sentence.</em></p><p> </p><p>

It looks like we’ll have a new United States Champion when Slaughter hooks in his famed Cobra Clutch but Magnum uses his ring awareness and pushes off the turnbuckles, sending him and Slaughter to the mat. Slaughter is still holding on but Magnum rolls over and uses the momentum to pin the challenger.</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

<b>TOMMY RICH VS GERRY MORROW</b><span style="font-weight:normal;">

Rich controls from beginning to end. After getting some cheers from the crowd he ends the non-descript match with the Thesz Press.

We’re shown a pre taped vignette of the NWA World Champion in the back of his limo. Flair says that there is a misconception about him. Yes he’s the son of a doctor and grew up well off. Yes he was a stud athlete his whole life. Yes he’s got money and women and limos and planes. But that isn’t something to be hated for, that is something to aspire to. He’s a role model for everyone in America. Work hard, sacrifice, and you too can live like the Nature Boy. And when Starrcade comes he will show the world why the common man will never be THE man.

<b>THE MALENKOS VS THE MULKEYS</b>

Good tag action from both teams but it’s the Malenkos who control the match and use very technical prowess. Dean ends the match by putting Randy Mulkey in a cloverleaf for a submission.

WINNERS BY SUBMISSION: THE MALENKOS

<b>KIMALA W/GARY HART VS GEORGE SOUTH</b>

Kimala overwhelms South early and often during the course of a short match. Kimala shows a little athleticism, hitting a running cross body block after whipping South into the ropes. He ends it with his running splash.

WINNER BY PINFALL: KIMALA

After the match Kimala won’t relent his attacks on South until Hart gets his undivided attention and then follows his manager out of the ring.

<b>NIKITA KOLOFF W/IVAN KOLOFF VS BRAD ARMSTRONG</b>

Brad Armstrong should get an Oscar for his stunt work in this match as he bumps around for Nikita helping show the Russian’s power. When Uncle Ivan calls for the end, Nikita hits the Russian Sickle for the 123.

WINNER BY PINFALL: NIKITA KOLOFF

Terry Taylor comes out to the interview area with his friend and manager Robin Green. He says that there’s something he’s wanted to say for a long time. He turns to her and says that since high school he’s been in love with her but he never acted on it. He won’t miss a second chance. Taylor kneels down in front of her and she looks like she’s going to cry…..before she lets out a shriek.

Randy Savage flies into the picture, giving Taylor a double axe handle to the back of the head. With Taylor down and dazed, Savage begins stomping him and kneels down to rain down right hands. Green approaches cautiously pleading for him to stop but Savage casts a pointed finger in her direction with wild eyes and says this is her fault, its always been her fault. Savage continues the beatdown before getting up and pointing at her again before walking away. As officials come to check on Taylor Schiavone tells us to tune in next week.

<b>RON BASS W/JAMES J. DILLON VS OWEN HART</b><span style="font-weight:normal;">

Hart puts up a good fight but Bass isn’t in jeopardy in this one. He controls the match and ends it after hitting the Texas Gourdbster.

WINNER BY PINFALL: RON BASS

Larry Zybysko is in the studio with Caudle and Colt. He looks around saying he has fond memories of his last visit when he laid out the paper champion Magnum T.A., who is still ducking him. Caudle points out Magnum’s recent battle with Sgt Slaughter which Zybyszko quickly dismisses as nothing compared to what he could do to the champion if he was ever given the chance. The hosts try to get a word in edgewise but Larry cuts them off a final time and tells them he’ll do the rest of his talking in the ring.

<b>THE FANTASTICS VS JIMMY GOLDEN AND DENNIS STAMP</b>

Bobby Fulton is slightly slowed by a nagging injury but it doesn’t stop the Fantastics from putting on a clinic of tag team wrestling. Golden tries to take the momentum for his team but it quickly fails and when the Fantastics hit a rocket launcher its all over.

WINNERS BY PINFALL: THE FANTASTICS

<b>GINO HERNANDEZ VS BOB ROOP</b>

Hernandez is in trouble in the early moments as Roop attacks him before the bell but Roop cannot put Hernandez away. As the crowd cheers for a comeback Gino fights back and puts Roop on the defense, eventually hitting the Deposit for the win.

WINNER BY PINFALL: GINO HERNANDEZ

A vignette is shown with former NWA World Champion Harley Race. He says that Eddie Graham was one of the finest men he’s ever known and it is his pleasure to announce he will be taking part in the Eddie Graham memorial battle royal at Starrcade.

<b>TERRY GORDY VS TIM HORNER</b>

Gordy is in control from beginning to end and shows off both his power and some agility with a great standing dropkick. When he’s done toying with Horner he puts him down with an Oriental Spike.

Rude is in a nasty demeanor and takes it out on Horner showing how strong he is. He batters Horner for a few minutes before dropping him with the Rude Awakening.

In a pre taped segment, Gordon Solie welcomes Kerry Von Erich. They talk about his recent success all over the country winning multiple championships. Von Erich says he feels like he has a lot of momentum and that’s why he feels like he has a great chance of winning the Eddie Graham Memorial Battle Royal at Starrcade. Solie wishes him luck and they shake hands.

<b>DICK SLATER VS KELLY KINISKI</b>

Kiniski controls the early going but Slater fights back and takes the momentum away. After wearing his opponent down, Slater hits a swinging neckbreaker and gets the win.

Gary Hart leads Kimala the Ugandan Giant to the ring. On their way they stop by the audience and scare some kids.

<b>RON BASS AND DUTCH MANTELL W/JAMES J. DILLON VS THE FANTASTICS</b>

A very good tag match sees both teams control the action. The Fantastics begin to pull away when Dillon distracts Bobby Fulton for a moment and as Mantell pulls Tommy Rogers off the apron, Bass pulls a foriegn object out of his trunks and nails Fulton. He makes the cover and steals a win.

WINNERS BY PINFALL: RON BASS AND DUTCH MANTELL

We go back to the studio where Larry Zybysko has shown up. He makes fun of his ambush of Magnum T.A. and runs him down but as he talks, the United States Champion walks up behind him unbeknownst to Zybysko.

Zybysko’s sixth sense kicks in and he slowly quiets and turns. His eyes go wide a split second before Magnum hits him with a big right hand and the fight is on, even if it’s one sided. Magnum, incensed by the earlier sneak attack lays into Zybysko and is only stopped when several security guards pull him away allowing Zybysko to escape but by the look on the champion’s face he’s not satisfied yet.

I'm really digging this diary so far, it has that old school JCP feel to it and you've totally got me invested in the players that matter (and some of the job guys who dont matter).

However the fanboy in me is let down that after his matches with Flair, Rude feels absolutely directionless. To be honest I'd much rather have seen him and Magnum at Starrcade but that's just me being selfish.

Keep up the good work, though 👍

It doesn’t sit well with Cornette and he threatens that if his men aren’ given opportunities they’ll have to create their own.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Steamboat and Slater stand shoulder to and Piper backs down with a fiery glare. Steamboat keeps his eyes focused on the man who’s attacked him twice now and doesn't notice Slater falling behind him. Slater hits the low blow on Steamboat who turns to face Slater barely able to stand. Piper rushes in again and slaps the sleeper on Steamboat. Officials hit the ring but Slater blocks them from intervening. </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Finally Steamboat is out but Piper still won’t release it. As the show goes off the air Piper looks maniacal and Steamboat is slumped in his arms as the bell rings.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bob Caudle and Buddy Colt welcome us to the show. They hype that we’ll see Terry Gordy, the Rock and Roll Express, Bob Armstrong, and in the main event we’ll see Chris Adams taking on Tommy Rich.

<b>TERRY GORDY VS OWEN HART</b><span style="font-weight:normal;">

Hart does his best in the early going to hit and run but eventually his luck runs out and Gordy helicopters him with a lariat. From there Gordy punishes Hart before ending the match with an Oriental Spike thanks to his taped thumb.

WINNER BY PINFALL: TERRY GORDY

Gordon Solie is shown in a pre taped interview. His guest is Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. Lawler says that while he is the king of Memphis and all of professional wrestling, he is going to become the king of the NWA when he wins the Eddie Graham Memorial Battle Royal at Starrcade and then everyone will bow and kiss his feet.

<b>BOB ARMSTRONG VS THE ASSASSIN</b>

These two veterans trade the momentum for several minutes before Armstrong takes over and he puts the Assassin down with a jawbreaker.

WINNER BY PINFALL: BOB ARMSTRONG

<b>THE ROCK AND ROLL EXPRESS VS RANDY ROSE AND DENNIS STAMP</b>

Ricky spends large portions of the match in the enemy corner but he’ll find a way to make the hot tag to Gibson who cleans house. From there the momentum completely flips and eventually Stamp eats a double dropkick that wins the match.

WINNERS BY PINFALL: THE ROCK AND ROLL EXPRESS

Before the match begins, Chris Adams approaches Tommy Rich offering a hand. Rich is a little wary but shakes it regardless and Adams backs up to his corner to await the bell.

<b>TOMMY RICH VS CHRIS ADAMS</b>

[bA very good match which goes back and forth. Adams has an opportunity to take a cheap shot several times but never does. It comes back to bite him as Rich takes control. When Rich whips Adams to the ropes to set up the Thesz Press, Adams recognizes it and ditches to the outside, waving his hand in disgust at the ring and walks away as the referee counts to ten.

WINNER BY COUNTOUT: TOMMY RICH

To close the show the NWA Champion Ric Flair joins Caudle and Colt. Flair says that about a month from now he’ll be stepping into the ring with a man he knows very well but he’s ready for the challenge. Caudle asks how Flair is approaching the big match versus Dusty Rhodes and Flair replies that he’s doing what he always does. He’s training twice a day. Colt asks him about his workout routine and Flair says he hits the gym in the afternoon and he works out with the ladies all night long. They wish him well and remind us to come back next week.

As a note, due to some RL, the big event of the month which normally is posted on a Sunday won't be going up tonight. We will get caught up this week and we'll be back on schedule by next weekend.

Tom Miller, longtime JCP ring announcer welcomes the crowd to the Bismarck Civic Center. After informing them where they can purchase programs and merchandise he runs down the card before introducing the competitors in the first match.

The young challengers put up a fight but they never rattle the champions who stick to the tried and true method of grinding down their opponents body part by body part. Arn delivers a spinebuster on Diamond and blasts Hart off the apron after tagging in Ole. They deliver a spike piledriver on Diamond for the win.

WINNERS BY PINFALL AND STILL NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE ANDERSONS

Gary Hart leads his man down to the ring. Kimala is wild, scaring the fans at ringside as he comes down the aisle wearing his war mask.

<b>KIMALA W/GARY HART VS TIM HORNER</b><span style="font-weight:normal;">

Tim Horner never stands a chance as the Ugandan Headhunter charges him at the opening bell and never looks back. After several minutes of a beatdown Horner falls victim to the running splash.

WINNER BY PINFALL: KIMALA

<b>RANDY SAVAGE VS BRAD ARMSTRONG</b><span style="font-weight:normal;">

Savage wastes no time in attacking Armstrong and never lets up. The Macho Man is a blur of constant movement and attacks from every angle and direction. Armstrong does a great job bumping for him and it’s all over when Savage hits his big elbow drop off the top.

WINNER BY PINFALL: RANDY SAVAGE

Roddy Piper and Dick Slater come down to the ring, Piper cuts a promo on the locals, promising Slater will beat Steamboat quickly so they can get back to their lonely sheep back home.

Steamboat comes down to great applause. Ring announcer Tom Miller then asks the crowd to look high above the ring. A lone spotlight highlights a small cage as it’s lowered to ringside. Miller tells us by order of the NWA Roddy Piper will be locked in the cage and suspended over the ring during this title match. Piper flat out refuses, wanting to fight Miller but he’s also informed that Slater will forfeit this match AND Piper will forfeit his match with Steamboat at Starrcade next month. Begrudgingly, nearly kicking and screaming Piper is locked in the cage and it begins to rise as the bell rings.

Steamboat and Slater have a terrific match. Piper is bad mouthing Steamboat from the cage as Slater deals out punishment but Steamboat makes a hot comeback before climbing to the top and points at Piper who sneers. Steamboat crouches on the top and flies off with a cross body block for the win.

WINNER BY PINFALL AND STILL NWA TELEVISION CHAMPION: RICKY STEAMBOAT

<b>THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS W/JIM CORNETTE VS THE FANTASTICS</b><span style="font-weight:normal;">

The teams trade the momentum back and forth and Cornette ebbs from cocky distractor to loud mouth nuisance. The Fantastics are about to set up the Rocket Launcher when Eaton clips Rogers’ left knee. In the chaos Cornette’s tennis racket finds its way into the ring and Condrey uses it to club Fulton over the head to steal the win.

WINNERS BY PINFALL: THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS

Ivan and Nikita Koloff come to the ring with their USSR flags. Tom Miller informs us that Ivan Koloff demands that the crowd stand in respect for the Soviet Anthem. The song doesn’t play more than a few bars before the music of the NWA Champion fills the arena along with cheers.

Flair spends most of the match getting battered around by Nikita but he begins to make a comeback, only to be crushed again. Nikita is feeling it and sets up Flair for the Russian Sickle but when he runs in Flair ducks and referee David Manning takes the brunt of it. Nikita looks down in surprise and Flair takes the opportunity to low blow him from behind. Ivan gets on the apron and Flair chops him off. Nikita turns around, still gingerly and Flair lights him up with several chops. Nikita looks staggered and as Manning begins to get up Flair kicks him low before pulling him into a small package. Manning makes the three count.

WINNER BY PINFALL AND STILL NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: RIC FLAIR:

Flair barely has time to have his hand raised before Ivan Koloff is in the ring and attacks him from behind. The champion is in serious trouble versus both Russians when the crowd comes alive.

The American Dream comes running down to the ring dressed in his cowboy attire and begins cleaning house. It allows Flair to recover and soon the Russians are on the outside of the ring looking in but unlike the past when similar events have happened there is noticeable tension between Flair and Rhodes and they just stare each other down as Tom Miller thanks everyone for coming out.
