Jaysin
So I thought about posting in the TV show discussion thread, but I didn’t want to post spoilers in the thread. What are your thoughts on the first four episodes? Baby Yoda is the cutest thing since Gizmo from Gremlins. The AT-ST in episode 4 was menacing as hell with the glowing red “eyes”. I loved all the Mandos helping out the main character at the end of episode 3.
The Swanton825
Four episodes in and the show has gone above and beyond my expectations. The attention to detail is amazing, down to subtle things like the Heavy Mandalorian voiced by Jon Favreau being from the same clan as the character he voiced in Clone Wars. Though I'm going to be a bit disappointed if episode 3 is the last we see of Werner Herzog. I adore Baby Yoda so much and want a plushy of him so bad. And seconded about the AT-ST. I've always found AT-ST's more dorky than intimidating, but holy crap the one in episode 4.
Jaysin
I didn’t even catch Favreua’s voice. I plan on rewatching the whole thing again when the last episode drops.
milamber
So many good Baby Yoda memes. Mando is an idiot for turning this one off:
Jaysin
I hope Gina Carano’s character isn’t a one and done. I’ve been a fan of her’s for years. I just read that she thought she was going to play a Wookie.
Jaysin
Well Chapter 5 has been out a couple days, what did everyone think? I loved the scene at night on the speeder bikes with the flares. Really smart way to attack a sniper.
milamber
<p>The last episode wasn't too special and relied a lot on OT easter eggs but it was still enoyable watching Mando do his thing.</p><p> </p><p> Fans generally seem to be split on the last 2 episodes from what I've read. Ep4 was criticized for poor acting and Filoni was criticized for his direction of Ep5, which like Ep1 was closest to the style of his mentor George Lucas. Many people want longer episodes with more overarching plot instead of primarily standalone episodes with small links to the overarching plot.</p><p> </p><p> I prefer to just enjoy watching a fun live-action Star Wars show rather than pick it apart.</p>
Jaysin
<p>Episode 5 wasn’t the best episode they’ve had, but I thought episode 3&4 were incredible.</p><p> </p><p> Just read on IMDb that Gina Carano is credited for three episodes, so she should be back somehow.</p>
The Swanton825
Frankly, while I'd like the episodes themselves to be longer, it's a breath of fresh air to me to watch a well made TV series that doesn't have some big myth arc that unfolds little by little each episode. So many shows do it now that it feels more like homework keeping track of everything going on from season to season and pretty much the only shows that don't do these arcs nowadays are crap network shows and low effort cartoons with the comedic timing of a kidney stone. And I'll take Filoni's directing over Abrams' Spielberg wannabe style any day.
Jaysin
Latest episode was great. Episodes 3&4 are still my favorite. Little salty about the cliffhanger, but I’m just impatient. Probably going to binge the whole series when the last episode drops.

The Swanton825
<p>Argh! I don't want to wait so long!</p><p> </p><p> And with that ending of Gideon having the Darksaber (legit thought it was just a cool vibroblade before I looked it up), I guess I have to finally watch Clone Wars and Rebels for the full context.</p>
milamber
The finale was very satisfying. I never watched the animated shows but the Darksaber is a direct tie-in. Next season should be the hunt for Jedi and/or Yoda's race and hopefully delving into Mandalore more. I just hope they can extend the budget to 10 episodes. Jaysin
The Darksaber looked awesome. I need more Star Wars and I can’t afford to see Rise of Skywalker so I think I’m gonna start Clone Wars to fill the Mando void.

Jaysin
Finished season two of Mando today and boy oh boy, what a frikkin ride! So much to unpack. Great, great follow up to season one. We got Boba Fett, Bo-Katan, AND LUKE SKYWALKER!!! We also got a Grand Admiral Thrawn shout out! My only complaint is we have to wait until after the Book of Boba Fett finishes next December before we get season three of Mando.
Kijar
My complaint as well. Haha. Just don't want to wait! I thought Rosario was great as Ahsoka, I'm pretty on board with the Grogu name at this point as well. Been correcting people in true geek fashion as of late. How are we feeling about that finale? The return of the Dark Troopers to the ship, the tease of Bo-Katan vs. Mando for the Darksaber... the whole team fighting together, Mando and Grogu's farewell, and the big return.. whew. I know the de-aging leaves something to be desired, but that was one of the most BAMF moments I can recall in recent Star Wars history. Also, the end credit scene with Bib Fortuna and Boba sitting on that throne.. gave me chills, is very exciting to properly see Boba Fett be the badass we all knew he was. Fennick becoming a proper character as well. Will this finally let people know that Jon Favreau is one of the best auteurs of our generation? Just throwing that thought out there. Since Swingers, this has been the man. Anybody from Star Wars history or lore you're hoping for a reference to in the future? Or a straight up appearance? Jaysin
<p>I'm currently reading the original Thrawn trilogy and I really hope we get Mara Jade as a canon character again. She's so fun!</p><p> </p><p> Also forgot to say, despite me disliking Sasha Banks, she did a solid job and I wouldn't mind her coming back. </p><p> </p><p> I didn't think the cgi on Luke was that bad honestly. There's a fan movement trying to get Sebastian Stan to play a young Luke going forward and I'd definitely be down with that. They look so much alike.</p>
Mootinie
<p>I didn't like the bringing back of old characters in Season 2. I thought they did a great job in Season 1 of showing off how large the Star Wars Universe was and then just kiboshed that in Season 2 in favour of getting nostalgic... again. Everything Star Wars related these days just feels like a big <em>'hey, remember this from the films? wink wink, nudge nudge'</em> >_></p><p> </p><p> The Star Wars Universe is literally galaxies and loads of planets but everything comes back to Palpatine or the Skywalkers or Han Solo. They cannot help themselves, nothing can happen without the involvement of like the same 5 people all the time. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/rolleyes.png.4b097f4fbbe99ce5bcd5efbc1b773ed6.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I thought The Mandalorian was always going to be about the rest, the universe outside of the films and how their events impacted everybody else.</p><p> </p><p> I don't really know where they go from here story-wise either. I'm not terribly excited about Mando vs. Bo-Katan if that's the new arc, I thought the show was always going to be a Space Western about these two adventuring and that Grogu being returned to the Jedi would be the end of the series. I guess we'll see.</p>
