[summertime '16...Attempt #2]

Introduction

[Alright, let's try this again.] Summertime '16 is an ode to the seemingly endless summer days in the streets of Los Angeles.

December 2015

Watts, California

A South Central strip mall isn't the typical habitat for a millionaire, but Brother Grimm isn't your typical millionaire. Along with long-time cornerman MC Motormouth and stalwart sycophant Moore Vincent, Grimm's plunging into a greasy burger at a cash-only joint--one with the ketchup bottle tied down to the table due to numerous red-sauce related thefts.

"It's time win the war."

At 39 years old, Brother Grimm is hardly an old man, but he's ancient for the West Coast gangsta rap scene. He's toiled with cold-blooded killers, blackhearted crooked cops and ruthless kingpins, but the battle-tested hip-hop legend is fighting a new kind of turf war.

What Grimm's service record as a street soldier doesn't show you is his resume as an astute business man. His dream alliance with cash-cow Gil Thomas and wrestling legend Nemesis devolved into conflicting ideas and blood-boiling hatred. The end result was a splintered company from the original promotion IPW, named Grimm SoCal Wrestling.

"Damn this is the best burger on earth."

Grimm cracks a slick smile as Vincent devours his meal. He was ready to unleash his secret weapon on IPW and the entire pro wrestling world--a man formerly known as Citizen X...

Just a quick author's note. To get a better context of Grimm SoCal Wrestling as a product, it follows a real-life pro wrestling trend in Los Angeles where the ring is entirely removed. Instead, the matches occur environmentally, basically like a staged bar fight. Here's an example, featuring a match between Darby Allin and Jeff Cobb:

https://www.youtube.com/embed/xLp163TDI9A" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The inhabitants of GSW will be duking it out on the floors of Brother Grimm's club, The Warehouse.

This look like it will be good mate. We might see Cobb vs Allin soon in AEW.

Thank you! I haven't see much of Cobb outside of Mantaza so I'm excited at the prospect of him wrestling for AEW.

Really like the look of this so far. (I also thought the CGC diary you started looked promising!)

Thank you! Don't know how much love I'll be giving the Nate Johnson one just because I hate writing diaries for larger companies. Hopefully I'll get in some of my comedic material before TEW 2020 comes out LOL

Is the title of this a Vince Staples reference?

If so, I’m so in. (If not, I’m still in.)

Yes! I'm happy you caught onto that. The original diary was homage to his album

This is actually some great context and sounds really fitting for GSW, my favourite CVerse promotion. Will be following of course and really hoping this diary will fare better than attempt #1

Definitely, I was super excited about writing the first diary but sadly, work and grad school got in the way. Now I've got some time and need to sharpen my writing knife so hopefully I'll be able to sate myself over until TEW 2020 comes out. First show is already around half done writing wise so I'll hopefully have it out by the weekend!

It’s easy to see why every championship in GSW is shared between these four men. Cali Slick is the closest thing in the company to a career wrestler, an unflappable gangsta-turned-grappler with aspirations of big league glory. His partner, Aces High, lacks the same prodigious talent but makes up for it with the unpredictable, frenetic energy he brings to the ring. As for the State of Destruction, size matters. Boneyard, the real-life bodyguard of Brother Grimm, tips the scales at 350 pounds and his cohort BB Colossus is even larger. What the two monsters lack in finesse they more than make up with in awe-inspiring size.</span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Courier New';"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Courier New';">

Ref Moore Vincent signals for the title bout to start and the defending champs start out of the gate quickly. As you may expect with two guys like Boneyard and BB, the State of Destruction toss around the Crew with a limited arsenal of forearm smashes, clotheslines and basic slams. Things get more interesting when Weston introduces weapons into the fray, snatching a pool cue from a nearby billiards table and handing it to Aces. While it’s not enough to fall their significantly larger opponents, Long Beach Crew is able to even the playing field. </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Courier New';"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Courier New';">

With some crisp, tandem offense, the Crew pushes the dominant champions further than any past opponent has. Slick in particular showcases his wrestling chops with an impressive flying uppercut from the top of the Warehouse’s music stage. While the Crew does most of the legwork in the match, it isn’t enough. Batting Ace’s pool cue out of his grasp with a clobbering forearm counter, Boneyard wraps his other meaty hand around the GSW West Coast champion’s neck and propels him seven and a half feet into the air by the throat, driving him down with a brutal Chokeslam. Without pause, the massive human mass covers for the three count. </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Courier New';"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Courier New';">

Moore Vincent checks both men for weapons [which seems pointless given it’s GSW] and signals for the bout to begin. Mobstar comes out firing with the hands and Omar is more than willing to trade with the former West Coast champ. While it’s clear Omar is the more polished wrestler thanks to his long-time stint in CZCW, Mobstar is becoming an increasingly effective in-ring [or in-ringlike] storyteller. He connects with a pair of gorgeous suplexes, much to the crowd’s displeasure. </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Courier New';"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Courier New';">

While Mobster ring generals a large portion of the match, the high-flying Omar can’t be grounded forever. He connects with a running dropkick, driving Mobstar into a crowd of fans. Omar’s stunt show would come to bite him in the ass as he misses on a costly dive off of a large speaker, crashing into a bed of broken glass. An actual billiards 8-ball that is, not coke, although with Aces you can never be too certain. The groggy West Coast champ drags the near unconscious body of Omar over his rival and Moore Vincent hesitantly counts to three as Gravedigga chases after a fleeing Aces.</span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Courier New';"> </span></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:'Courier New';">

Thanks for the love! GSW is one of the hardest but most rewarding promotions to book. Fro Sure/Cali Slick/Mobstar tend to be the most big promotion ready talents, but Busta Capp, Mexico's Finest and Raheem Stash are a lot of fun to book if you know they're strengths. Stay tuned!

I'm not overly familiar with true hardcore fads in general so I always enjoy reading the diaries on here about them. I'm familiar with all those workers and they all definitely have pushable skill sets. Wonder who Stash will end up being muscle for? So many choices
