July 1920 Aftermath & News

Aftermath

It was all high 5's in the back after the show as Daniel Loiselle and El Espiritu had put on the best match yet with their main event which more than made up for the slightly screwy finish. In the venue, some of the fans thought that a new champion had been crowned when El Espiritu was announced the winner of the match, but the ring announcer was quick to make it clear that a title could not change hands on a count out.

The rematch between the two also enabled Southern Pro Wrestling to achieve their biggest crowd yet and things were growing nicely for the company. Don Loomis gave a speech after the show thanking everyone for their efforts, saving special praise for both Loiselle and El Espiritu and also praising Joe Boone for what was an incredible performance against the debuting Leroy Disco.

The creative juices of Jay Lutter were also beginning to flow, and SPW Pro Wrestling 5 was the a night where the storyline aspect of pro wrestling was really starting to develop- all the SPW originals were now heavily involved in a story of some kind, and the intention going forward was to get some of the newer members of the roster involved too.

News

As Southern Pro Wrestling continued to grow, Don Loomis decided to bring in another talent to the roster:

Dustin David, USA, 19

xmDEPG9.jpg

Dustin David, was originally from West Virginia but had moved to Jackson while still at high school. The move unsettled the young David and he flunked out of school at age 17. David has a natural aptitude for playing in front of a crowd however, and began working as a street entertainer, performing in all manner of ways to earn money. Don Loomis had spotted David walking on his hands downtown, and seeing his natural athleticism and comfort in front of a crowd, signed him there and then.

SPW Pro Wrestling 6 Preview

Below is the press release for SPW Pro Wrestling 6

The fallout from last month's action packed show continues to resonate as we head into SPW Pro Wrestling 6 where the biggest name pro wrestlers in the world collide once more!

Daniel Loiselle is still the champion in spite of the controversy that swelled around his bout against El Espiritu last month. While El Espiritu was officially named the winner, because he took the victory on a count out, the title did not change hands.

Loiselle for his part, petitioned SPW officials for another rematch with the Masked superstar, stating publicly that he did not wish to retain the title in such a way. However, SPW had already promised the undefeated German brute, Friedrich Herzog, a title shot if he defeated Saita Kuroki at SPW Pro Wrestling 5, and he duly delivered, albeit with the help of Levi Andrews, meaning the bout was set- Daniel Loiselle vs. Friedrich Herzog for the title!

What that means for El Espiritu is another stint working his way back to a title shot. While El Espiritu remains unpopular among some of the SPW fans due to his occasionally aggressive tactics, he has started to hear cheers from some sections of the crowd and many see him as the uncrowned champion of SPW. He has been booked against the universally popular former Sumo great, Saita Kuroki, in what should be a tremendous clash of styles.

Last month Sir Anthony Henry suffered, what he has since called the most embarrassing loss of his career, against the young, promising star, Dragon Lee. Henry has written to SPW officials requesting that they strike the match from the record due to, what he calls, interference from Joe Boone, but his request has fallen on deaf ears. Instead he has been given the chance to get his redemption in a rematch against Lee at this month's show.

Two other matches are also set for the card- firstly Levi Andrews will return to action having not competed at SPW Pro Wrestling 5, as he faces newcomer Dustin David. Many say that Andrews has a lot to prove to both SPW fans, and himself, as his win/loss record has not exactly been stellar in SPW thus far, can he redress that imbalance at this event?

In addition, Mike Lewis and Leroy Disco will face one another to kick start their careers after early losses for both in the past.

It's another show of epic proportions and you'd be crazy to miss out!

August 1920 Aftermath & News

Aftermath

Backstage the mood was relaxed after the show- it hadn't been a stand out night of action but it had served its purpose and, perhaps most promisingly of all, some of the newer members of the roster we're beginning to stand out- chief amongst these was Dragon Lee whose storyline involvement in the feud between Joe Boone and Sir Anthony Henry was yielding some good results. Lee and Henry's time limit draw was the 2nd best match of the night which was a positive sign that Lee would be able to contribute at the higher levels in the future.

Also, Dustin David's debut went really well, and this was Levi Andrews' best match to date also, so an indication that David has the potential to be a really good worker.

The main event went down quite well despite the crowded, overbooked nature of it. Those last few fans who were still coming to shows despite their cynicism about the 'reality' of the bouts took this as the ultimate confirmation for them that the show was 'fake', but by now they made up only a very small portion of the audience, and the rest were fully engaged in the coming together of the two main stories in the promotion.

One thing that didn't work well was El Espiritu walking out of his match with Saita Kuroki. Jay Lutter's idea was that El Espiritu would walk out on the match because he was frustrated by not having a title rematch despite his count out victory against Daniel Loiselle, at the previous show and didn't see the point in fighting Kuroki. El Espiritu however, found it difficult to convey that message with just body language (who wouldn't!?) and it left many of the crowd looking confused.

News

The roster was expanded further this month as Don Loomis added another new wrestler to the wage bill:

Roland Pascual, 18, Canada

F0SO0Oy.jpg

Roland Pascual was on the undercard working a boxing event in New York having been trained in his home town of Vancouver, Canada when he was spotted by Joe Boone who regularly frequented boxing shows on the East Coast. Upon seeing Pascual, with his babyface look, and similar facial features to Dragon Lee, immediately contacted Don Loomis about the potential of pairing the two men up as the first ever 'regular' tag team. Having gotten hold of a picture of the young boxer, Loomis agreed with Boone's assessment and paid for Pascual to travel down to Jackson to join the roster.

SPW Pro Wrestling 7 Preview

Here is the press release for SPW Pro Wrestling 7:

Southern Pro Wrestling 7 is coming your way this month in Jackson, MS as tensions have risen higher than ever before with 6-men on a collision course for the squared circle!

First there was 'tag team' wrestling, now Southern Pro Wrestling are bringing another innovation to the sport as the first ever 6-man tag team contest will take place at this month's show. Daniel Loiselle will team up with Saita Kuroki and Joe Boone to face the lethal combination of El Espiritu, Friedrich Herzog and Levi Andrews after months of bad blood between the two sides.

Saita Kuroki has been locked in a war with Levi Andrews ever since SPW's first show back in March, and now Andrews has enlisted the help of Friedrich Herzog to rid the promotion of the Japanese legend. Last month, the dastardly pair attempted to steal the SPW World Title away from Champion, Daniel Loiselle but were foiled by Kuroki watching for Herzog and Andrews' treachery.

Another man who tried to attack Loiselle during his title defence against Herzog last month was El Espiritu, a man who feels that he deserves to be SPW World Champion, having twice come within a hare's breath of taking the title from Loiselle. Thankfully El Espiritu didn't cause the damage he had hoped to but there is no love lost between the Mexican sensation and the World Champion. Loiselle and Kuroki have recruited Joe Boone to join them for a 3-on-3 encounter the like of which has never been seen before!

There will be 3 other matches on the show to whet your appetite in anticipation for the main event and these too, are likely to provide plenty of action!

Chief amongst these is the 3rd bout in as many months between Sir Anthony Henry and Dragon Lee. After suffering defeat in their first encounter, Henry attempted to show the world that Lee's victory was a fluke last month by challenging the young upstart to last 10 minutes in the ring with him. Henry however, was humiliated again, when Lee went the distance, effectively defeating the Brit a second month in a row. At this month's show there will be no time limits and Henry will be desperate to show the world that he is the better man!

Also, Austyn Taylor will face Dustin David while Leroy Disco is up against the debuting Roland Pascual- both these encounters will have an important part to play in the future career trajectories of each man.

It's a veritable feast of grappling action, and it's coming this month to Jackson!

To start the show, Mike Lewis came out in front of the crowd and challenged Leroy Disco to sign on the dotted line for a rematch from last month. When Disco came out however, he rejected the challenge and snootily claimed that he has no more to prove to Lewis. Disco then told Lewis to get out of the ring so he can have his match tonight.

Rating: 30

Match 1: Leroy Disco vs. Roland Pascual

kAlHp55.jpg vs. F0SO0Oy.jpg

In Roland Pascual's debut, a bout that had terrible wrestling and non-existent crowd heat, Leroy Disco defeated Pascual in 7:50 by pinfall with a Flapjack after Mike Lewis was provoked by Disco into getting up on to the ring apron, only for Disco to Irish whip Pascual into him, allowing Disco to get the victory.

Before match number 2, Sir Anthony Henry grabbed a microphone and explained that last month Dragon Lee got lucky again, and tonight there will be no excuses, no taking Lee lightly, no time limit, just the two of them one on one, and he says, this will finally prove that Lee doesn't belong in the same ring as him.

Rating: 17

Match 2: Sir Anthony Henry vs. Dragon Lee

dX61G2L.jpg vs. 9TS3Mud.jpg

In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Sir Anthony Henry defeated Dragon Lee in 15:13 by submission after blatantly using his wrist tape to choke Lee while in a sleeper which was obscured from the referee.

Rating: 25

Match 3: Austyn Taylor vs. Dustin David

In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Dustin David defeated Austyn Taylor in 6:40 by pinfall with a Shoulder Breaker.

In a decent match, El Espíritu, Friedrich Herzog and Levi Andrews defeated Daniel Loiselle, Saita Kuroki and Joe Boone in 23:34 when Levi Andrews pinned Joe Boone after using a foreign object. This was only shortly after Joe Boone had been attacked, unknown to the referee, by Sir Anthony Henry.

September 1920 Aftermath & News

Aftermath

After the show, Don Loomis gathered everyone around to thank them for their efforts on what was another good night's worth of action, and the company's biggest crowd to date.

Loomis also told the crowd that due to the success they had seen so far, the company had enough money put back to promote 2 shows in December- the first of these would be at the beginning of the month as per usual, but would be taking place in Texas, as a way of broadening the reach of Southern Pro Wrestling. The 2nd would be back in Jackson on the night after Christmas Day and would be called 'Festive Fury', the news was greeted with excitement by the group who were in for 2 paydays, a Christmas bonus of sorts.

News

In addition to the extra show in December, it had also been decided to introduce new tag team titles to Southern Pro Wrestling and hold a tournament on next month's show to crown them. This meant that SPW were on the scout for 3 new wrestlers to bring in so that they could make it an 8 team competition- basically everyone on the roster would be involved. Those new wrestlers were:

Quinton Dubois, 19, Canada

AkyeJir.jpg

Quinton Dubois was another talent spotted by Daniel Loiselle while on one of his visits home to Toronto, only this time it wasn't at an amateur wrestling meet. Dubois was working the door of a local night spot that Loiselle had frequented for some time and the two had gotten to know one another. One evening, some trouble had flared up with a particularly aggressive customer and Dubois had taken care of it, both with his intimidating physical presence and his charismatic charm. Loiselle asked him if he fancied working for SPW and Dubois was on the next train to Jackson having spoken to Don Loomis. Loomis, knowing about Dubois's job as a bouncer, saw the opportunity to team him up with SPW's night owl, Leroy Disco and immediately changed his ring name to Danny Cool.

Michael Cool, 19, USA

lj2pNRH.jpg

The exploits of SPW was being reported, in a very small way, by some sports newspapers and magazines elsewhere in the world. This had led to a smattering of followers from all around with no way to get to a show but with a keen interest in the results that were published. Michael Cool was one such follower who bucked the trend and travelled to Jackson to attend SPW Pro Wrestling 7. With SPW eager for new talent, and the athletic looking Cool right there in front of him, Don Loomis agreed to a meeting later in the week. At the meeting Loomis signed Cool to a contract. Ironically, this was just days after the company had signed Quinton Dubois and renamed him Danny Cool, and so Michael Cool's name was changed to Nathan Hayes.

Perry Bryant, 20, Canada

b3eCW1P.jpg

Perry Bryant was a young actor from Winnipeg who Jay Lutter had come across during his brief foray into screenwriting. With Don Loomis asking his lieutenants to find him some additional talent to fill the remaining tag title tournament slots, Lutter decided to contact him. Bryant had move to Los Angeles but was finding work difficult to come by. Lutter promised him the chance to play in front of crowds and a small regular income if he moved to Jackson. Feeling there was nothing to lose by giving it a go, Bryant signed up.

SPW Pro Wrestling 8 Preview

Here is the press release for SPW Pro Wrestling 8:

Southern Pro Wrestling returns to Jackson, MS and takes the sport of professional wrestling to a whole new level!

After playing host to the first ever tag match back in June, Southern Pro Wrestling has been inundated with requests for more of the same. In response to that demand, Don Loomis, owner and operator of SPW, has responded with a one night, 8 team tournament to crown the first SPW Tag Team Champions!

Loomis put out the call to wrestlers from all over the world to officially enter the tournament and there have been no shortage of applications. After a tough vetting process, SPW have announced the brackets for the competition and we now have our first round line up:

In perhaps the biggest of the first round clashes, El Espiritu and Sir Anthony Henry will face Saita Kuroki and Joe Boone in what will be a chance for the participants to get their hands on their rivals.

Joe Boone and Sir Anthony Henry have been locked in a war that has stretched all the way back to April and has seen both men look to get one over on the other during that period. In the meantime, Saita Kuroki stands as the only man to have gained a victory over Mexican star El Espiritu when, a couple of months ago, El Espiritu inexplicably got intentionally counted out during a match between the two. Now these teams are on a collision course and something has got to give!

In another huge first round match, Friedrich Herzog & Levi Andrews go into the tournament as favourites and will take on SPW World Champion, Daniel Loiselle and the debuting Nathan Hayes. The alliance between Herzog and Andrews has already yielded returns for the two men involved, and in particular resulted in Levi Andrews picking up his biggest win to date when it was he who scored the victorious fall during last month's 6-man tag contest.

Their opponents are somewhat of an unknown package- Daniel Loiselle of course, is very familiar to the Jackson faithful, but little is known about his partner. Loiselle has revealed that Hayes had requested to join him for the tournament as soon as it was announced, and Loiselle, always one to give opportunities, agreed, commenting that he had been impressed by what he had seen in the sparring sessions they have had since entering.

In another of the first round matches, Dragon Lee and Roland Pascual have formed a team and called themselves 'Young Guns', they will be facing reluctant team mates Austyn Taylor and the debuting Perry Bryant. Taylor is known for liking to keep himself to himself, but SPW management, looking to include the entire roster in the tournament, have paired him with newcomer Bryant who has been apparently very eager to prove himself on the big stage. Can they turn water into wine? Or will Young Guns progress to the semi-finals?

In the final match of the first round, Leroy Disco has brought Danny Cool to SPW. The pair know one another from the thriving Jackson night scene where Danny Cool works as a bouncer. Leroy Disco has named the team 'Night Fever', and all eyes will be on whether their shared interest can take them to the semi-final. If they are to do that, they will have to beat the popular young duo of Dustin David and Mike Lewis.

Announced First Round Matches:

Young Guns vs. Perry Bryant & Austyn Taylor

Night Fever vs. Mike Lewis & Dustin David

The Alliance vs. Daniel Loiselle & Nathan Hayes

Joe Boone & Saita Kuroki vs. El Espiritu & Sir Anthony Henry

<p>October 1920 News & Aftermath</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Aftermath</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

A whole show worth of tag team matches was a little bit of a gamble for Don Loomis and Southern Pro Wrestling as nobody was certain that it would shift tickets. Though the gate was a little down on the previous event, it turns out they needn't have worried as the average crowd the company had seen over its first 7 shows had held for this one. </p><p> </p><p>

The show was a success from an artistic stand point too with a number of decent bouts that ensured the long-term viability of tag team wrestling as a part of the Southern Pro Wrestling product. Jay Lutter, SPW's main creative guy, was particularly pleased with this as he saw lots of potential for tag team wrestling to provide future opportunities to create conflict and play a part in the storyline aspect of the shows.</p><p> </p><p>

Don Loomis took time in a meeting of the talent, to praise the efforts of Leroy Disco, who had played a big part in carrying both his team's 1st round and semi final matches to very respectable performances. There was talk amongst management that Disco could be someone to watch in the future.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">News</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Just a week after the show, the big news came in that Don Loomis had managed to secure a bigger venue, on the main strip in Jackson, to host the next show. The venue would not only hold more people (roughly estimated to be about 500) but also a lot more exposure to footfall in the area meaning more tickets were likely to be sold.</p><p> </p><p>

To capitalise on this, Loomis bought a one page advert in the <em>Jackson Courier</em> promoting the November show with a main event of Daniel Loiselle versus Levi Andrews for the World Title. Privately Loomis was hopeful of selling the place out though both Frank Norris and Jay Lutter, rarely likely to agree on anything, both told him not to get his hopes up.</p><p> </p><p>

That a bigger venue had agreed to let them put on shows however, was a sign that pro wrestling as a concept was becoming more well known and acceptable to a mainstream audience, slowly but surely, the battle to establish the sport was being won.</p>

SPW Pro Wrestling 9 Preview

Here is the press release for SPW Pro Wrestling 9:

The Southern Pro Wrestling sensation continues to grow as the stars of the sport invade a new venue for their 9th show, and it promises to be an instant classic!

In the main event SPW World Champion, Daniel Loiselle defends his title against Levi Andrews. This comes on the back of two major victories in recent months for the Australian, firstly taking the winning fall in a 6-man tag match a couple of months back, before last week becoming the first man to pin Loiselle's shoulders to the mat, during the first round of the tag team title tournament. The question is, can Levi Andrews repeat that accomplishment and take the World Title? There's only one way to find out- get your ticket today!

During last month's tag team title tournament, Saita Kuroki and Joe Boone went to a time limit draw with El Espiritu & Sir Anthony Henry, eliminating both teams from the running to become the first SPW Tag Team Champions. This month both pairs have asked for a rematch as they look to assert their dominance over the other, there's no love lost between the competitors in this one, so expect fireworks!

One man who made a major impression on his debut last month was Nathan Hayes who betrayed Daniel Loiselle, the man who gave him an opportunity to wrestle in the tournament. It was later revealed that Hayes had been a plant for The Alliance all along and, at SPW Pro Wreslting 9, he'll will make his debut in singles competition as he faces popular young wrestler, Dustin David.

That wasn't the only fall out from last month's tag team title tournament though, as during their first round match with Young Guns, Austyn Taylor walked out on his partner Perry Bryant, leaving him in a 2-on-1 situation. This month, Perry Bryant has vowed revenge on his one-time partner as the two clash in a big grudge match.

In addition to all of this, there are two other bouts to look forward to at what is set to be SPW's biggest show yet- firstly, in another tag team rematch from last month's title tournament, Young Guns face Night Fever to determine the number 1 contenders to The Alliance's tag team titles.

Speaking of The Alliance, Friedrich Herzog returns to singles competition as he battles Mike Lewis. Lewis is said to be very frustrated by the manner of his team's loss in the tag title tournament last month, so should be very fired up for this one!

It's a giant sized portion of grappling action, and it's coming to Jackson, MS this month!

November 1920 Aftermath & News

Aftermath

While it wasn't quite the sell out that Don Loomis had been hoping for, 314 people was a remarkable doubling of the crowds that had previously attended Southern Pro Wrestling shows. Loomis himself had to accept that he'd been a little over-ambitious with his prediction the month before, but this was a big step forward, not least because it meant that the roster growth that had taken place since the company had opened its doors would, for the time being, be sustainable from a financial perspective.

Don Loomis gathered the wrestlers together backstage and thanked them for their efforts, he said that SPW had gone from strength to strength over the past 8 months and the future was looking bright for professional wrestling. Loomis told the roster that December would be an extremely important month for the company, as they would not only be putting on two shows but also promoting its first in the Mid-South region of the country.

A new audience would present fresh challenges to SPW and their talent but Loomis was confident that they had it in them to succeed, much like they had in Jackson.

Loomis was concerned once again by Saita Kuroki's performance out there. In the tag match featuring him and Joe Boone against El Espiritu & Sir Anthony Henry he had been the weak link, and struggled to keep up with the performances of the others in the match. Due to Kuroki's unique look, size and the fondness that the crowd had for him, Loomis still had big plans for the former sumo wrestler, but these performances could become a big issue if they dragged down the quality of the matches he was involved in.

Loomis had also been given food for thought by a couple of other happenings on the show. Firstly, though only short, the match between Friedrich Herzog and Mike Lewis was at this point the joint best match of all time. Secondly, the heel vs. heel dynamic in the match between Perry Bryant and Austyn Taylor hadn't really worked, with the crowd not sure who to cheer for.

News

In order to increase the number of options for the companies December shows, there were two new signings for Southern Pro Wrestling in late November:

John Baratheon, 19, USA

B1QqHys.jpg

John Baratheon was part of the first class of trainees from Joe Boone's wrestling school in New York and impressed Boone enough that he recommended Don Loomis take a look. Despite some misgivings about Baratheon's height (standing at just 5'7) Loomis agreed to take Baratheon on to give him a chance to develop as a worker in front of a crowd.

Beau Joslin, 20, Canada

xdkaygP.jpg

Beau Joslin was a Basketball player from Canada who had become involved in some of the fledgling attempts at forming a professional Basketball league only to find the unstable nature of the sport's infrastructure at the time frustrating. He was convinced by Don Loomis, who liked Joslin because he was 6'8, good looking and athletically built, to give pro wrestling a try, and the rest was history!

SPW Pro Wrestling 10 Preview

Here is the press release for SPW Pro Wrestling 10:

Southern Pro Wrestling comes to Beaumont, Texas for the first time with a massive card of grappling action the like of which you will never have seen before and the promotors have served something truly special up as a way of an introduction!

In the night's main event, Joe Boone and Sir Anthony Henry will battle it out in a traditional 2 out of 3 falls match as they look to settle a war that has been going on for months. They first locked horns back in April when, after securing the victory, Boone was assaulted by his opponent after the match. This subsequently led to a game of one-upmanship which included Boone distracting Henry during a subsequent bout he was expected to win, causing a major upset in the process, as well as Henry attacking Boone at every opportunity possible.

In recent months the pair have been involved on opposite sides of the ring in a couple of tag team matches where Boone & Henry teamed with Saita Kuroki and El Espiritu, respectively. The first of which resulted in both teams being eliminated from the tournament to crown the first Tag Team Champions, and the rematch last month saw Henry & El Espiritu seal a morale boosting victory. At SPW Pro Wrestling 10 however, both men are looking to settle the score once and for all!

You will also see The Alliance making their first defence of the SPW Tag Team Titles as they battle the team they defeated in the final of the tournament to crown the first champions, Young Guns. Thus far The Alliance have been dominant in the tag team division, but they are up against a team riding high on confidence following their victory in a number 1 contenders match against Night Fever last month- can they prise the gold from The Alliance's tight grip- be there to find out!

SPW World Champion, Daniel Loiselle will also be on hand to defend his SPW World Title against the man who betrayed him in the tag team title tournament 2 months ago, Nathan Hayes. In order to grant Hayes a title shot, Daniel Loiselle has had to receive special dispensation from SPW, as the young Hayes has leapfrogged a number of top ranking contenders for the belt, but Loiselle has revenge on his mind and was desperate to get his hands on Hayes. Can Hayes take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity, or will Daniel Loiselle emerge victorious once again?

Last month, Mike Lewis interfered in Night Fever's match with Young Guns in retaliation for the way in which Night Fever defeated he and Dustin David in the 1st round of the tag team title tournament in October. Lewis' interference cost Night Fever the chance to become number 1 contender's to the tag title and so one half of the team, Danny Cool, will face Lewis at SPW Pro Wrestling 10 in what will be an emotionally charged contest.

Coming your way will be 2 other matches that promise to round out this card very nicely indeed- the first of these is a 6-man tag match as Saita Kuroki teams with Dustin David and newcomer John Baratheon as they face the team of El Espiritu, Perry Bryant and Leroy Disco.

Also, Austyn Taylor will battle another man making his debut, Beau Joslin. Taylor has impressed many in recent months, and will be hoping to continue to build his reputation with another win in this one.

It's all coming your way in Southern Pro Wrestling's first show in Beaumont, Texas, make sure you don't miss out!

Great start, I do love seeing organic universe grow. It´s one of my favorite ways to play the game so looking forward to see how this world evolves.

2 out of 3 Falls Match- Joe Boone vs. Sir Anthony Henry

Having played this same mod few times, I believe Boone is better from these two so normally I would go with him but the thing is that with face champion, I figure you would want Henry to win for eventual title shot opportunity

SPW Tag Team Title Match- The Alliance © vs. Young Guns

Alliance is likely going to hold these belts for long time and while I could see Young Guns eventually getting the belts next (well, they the only named face tag team right now) it´s not going to be until they are bit more seasoned as if memory serves, the starting 7 wrestlers are going to be the ones that carry SPW for the first few years.

SPW World Title Match- Daniel Loiselle © vs. Nathan Hayes

Hayes isn’t the one getting the belt next.

Mike Lewis vs. Danny Cool

Lewis not only had great match with Herzog last show but that tag match with Night Fever was also lot better than Fevers second match against Young Guns which makes me wonder if either Lewis or David (or both) are better in-ring guy at the moment than most of the other rookies (meaning everyone but the starting 7). That said, Lewis have had a jobber position so far and Cool has a tag team going so I´d assume Cool picks the win here.

Saita Kuroki, Dustin David & John Baratheon vs. El Espiritu, Perry Bryant & Leroy Disco

El Espiritu is one of your best guys (even from starting 7) while Kuroki is one of the weaker from the starting guys and there´s a new guy on Kuroki´s team as well so I go with heels here.

Austyn Taylor vs. Beau Joslin

Going with slightly more established guy here.

SPW Pro Wrestling 10 Aftermath

Aftermath

Everyone was unsure of what to expect from the crowd in Beaumont ahead of the show, as it turned out they were a pretty rowdy bunch made up roughly half and half between curious fight fans come to check out the latest form of combat sport on the market and those who'd grown familiar with Southern Pro Wrestling from afar and were eager to get their first taste of action. There were also 3 or 4 'hardcore' fans who'd made the trip from Jackson who didn't want to miss the show.

That there were a few regulars who had made the jaunt across to Texas made Don Loomis comfortable that they had gotten the balance right between providing a valuable show while not giving away too much- their primary market had to be in Jackson, but he didn't want to short change audiences elsewhere. Providing two title matches (a first on an SPW show) as well as the concluding bout in one of the main rivalries in the company up to this point, made this an important part of the SPW canon without excluding the company's primary fan base from anything that was vital.

In terms of the quality of the show, it was at the general level of previous events although Frank Norris was quick to point out that Daniel Loiselle's opening promo was very wooden and was a real let down, especially given that this was the Beaumont crowd's first look at the SPW World Champion. Norris had always been cynical about Loiselle's suitability as the promotion's first champion due to his lack of charisma, it was hard to argue that Loiselle did a good job on the mic here.

He did however make up for it in a really decent match later on in the show against rookie, Nathan Hayes, and Loomis was quick to point out that up to this point, Daniel Loiselle had carried the main event scene throughout the year and in fact, the 8 main events he'd been involved in were all better than the 2 up to this point he hadn't been. Hayes himself has looked good so far in the 3 matches he has had, and management were keeping an eye on him as a potential break out star from the non-original roster.

Thanks very much, hope you continue to enjoy as both the world, and the promotion evolves from what it is right now, which is relatively straightforward, to something far more complicated and larger!

4 out of 6 ain't bad either, can definitely see why you went with Henry, all should become clear as to why I went with Boone soon with the preview for Festive Fury!

<p>SPW Festive Fury 1920 Preview</p><p> </p><p>

Here is the press release for SPW Festive Fury.</p><p> </p><p>

<em><strong>This Christmas get yourself down to Jackson Municipal Center for the biggest event of the holiday season as Southern Pro Wrestling presents Festive Fury!</strong></em></p><p><em><strong> </strong></em></p><p><em><strong>

In the main event World Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Loiselle will face the powerful German brute, Friedrich Herzog, in his toughest challenge yet. These two men previously met back in the summer and while Loiselle was victorious at the time, a glut of outside interference during the bout cast a shadow over the end result. Since then, Friedrich Herzog and his Alliance colleagues have been on a mission to take the belt from Loiselle, but he has so far managed to turn back the challenges posed by both Levi Andrews and Nathan Hayes leaving Herzog as the remaining hurdle to overcoming them all. What part will Andrews and Hayes play in this match? Will Loiselle have what it takes to fend off the big German? Or will SPW crown a new World Champion? Find out at Festive Fury!</strong></em></p><p><em><strong> </strong></em></p><p><em><strong>

In another major match, El Espiritu will face Joe Boone where the winner will be named the new number 1 contender to the World Title. Both men have had previous attempts at the Champion and both came incredibly close to winning the belt but ultimately fell short. Since then, they have worked hard to put themselves back into a situation to challenge for the gold again, and at Festive Fury, one of them will do just that. This is a match that has huge implications for the future of Southern Pro Wrestling but you can only see it by being there in person!</strong></em></p><p><em><strong> </strong></em></p><p><em><strong>

Two men who have been embroiled in a war ever since SPW's first ever show in March are Saita Kuroki and Levi Andrews and at Festive Fury they will face each other once more, albeit in tag team action. Levi Andrews is already one half of the SPW Tag Team Champions, but with his title partner involved in the night's main event, he will be teaming with the other member of The Alliance, Nathan Hayes. In the meantime, Saita Kuroki was impressed with young Beau Joslin's debut effort at last month's show, and has placed his faith in Joslin to help him score a major victory. </strong></em></p><p><em><strong> </strong></em></p><p><em><strong>

Mike Lewis has had a bit of a problem with the tag team of Night Fever over the past couple of months, ever since he and Dustin David were eliminated by them in the Tag Title Tournament back in October. Since then, Lewis has cost them an important match against Young Guns and gone on to defeat Danny Cool earlier this month. After that encounter, Danny Cool was joined by Leroy Disco as the pair took out their frustrations on Lewis in a ruthless 2 on 1 beatdown. Now Lewis will face Disco with the odds even, and Lewis will be chomping at the bit to get a manner of revenge. </strong></em></p><p><em><strong> </strong></em></p><p><em><strong>

In addition to these 4 huge battles, Festive Fury will play host to not 1, not 2, not 3, but FOUR other bouts, certain to warm even the coldest of bleak midwinter nights.</strong></em></p><p><em><strong> </strong></em></p><p><em><strong>

Firstly Austyn Taylor, who has strung a couple of victories together in a row recently will face one half of Young Guns when he battles Roland Pascual. Another win here would surely confirm Taylor as the most exciting young wrestler around.</strong></em></p><p><em><strong> </strong></em></p><p><em><strong>

Also, Sir Anthony Taylor will be up against the inexperienced John Baratheon. Baratheon only made his debut last month in 6-man tag action, so will be up against it versus the wily Brit. </strong></em></p><p><em><strong> </strong></em></p><p><em><strong>

Young Guns and Night Fever have had quite the rivalry in the tag team division recently but at Festive Fury one representative from each team will battle in singles competition as the ever-popular Dragon Lee, goes up against Danny Cool. </strong></em></p><p><em><strong> </strong></em></p><p><em><strong>

And last but not least, two of SPW's young prospects are set to go head to head as Dustin David fights Perry Bryant.</strong></em></p><p><em><strong> </strong></em></p><p><em><strong>

It's going to be a wild slice of Christmas action that all the family can enjoy, and it promises to be a historic night in Jackson, MS. We'll see you ringside!</strong></em></p><p> </p><p>

And also, a poster for the event that was found amongst the memento's Don Loomis' kept, shortly after his death years later:</p><p> </p><p>

<p>SPW World Title Match- <strong>Daniel Loiselle ©</strong> vs. Friedrich Herzog</p><p>

<em>Herzog is someone who I could see taking the belt of from Loiselle, especially with help of his stable mates but I still go with champ retaining here.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Number 1 Contenders Match- Joe Boone vs. <strong>El Espiritu</strong></p><p>

<em>Since I have Loiselle keeping the belt over Herzog, I do pick heel here as next challenger. If memory serves, Loiselle vs. El Espiritu is pretty much as good match as you could get early on with this mod so why not go with it?</em></p><p> </p><p>

Mike Lewis vs. <strong>Leroy Disco</strong></p><p>

<em>Oops, completely missed the fact that Lewis interfered on Night Fevers last tag match. I could see this one going either way as Lewis could use few more wins but I go with Disco getting a win via interference from Cool since Lewis got the match against Cool and could likely get wins over other lower card guys who aren´t in storylines right now in order to help his win-loss record a bit.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Saita Kuroki & Beau Joslin vs. <strong>Levi Andrews & Nathan Hayes</strong></p><p>

<em>Kuroki and Andrews are pretty much equal footing in my papers so their team mates are the deciding factor and while I don´t have much info about either just yet, Hayes being allied to Andrews and Herzog instantly made him guy to watch for me as I figure that you wouldn´t have done that without planning on pushing him at least a bit.</em></p><p> </p><p>

John Baratheon vs. <strong>Sir Anthony Henry</strong></p><p>

<em>Henry picks up some momentum here.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Dustin David</strong> vs. Perry Bryant</p><p>

<em>I have my eyes on David after some decent in-ring performances while Bryant haven´t yet done anything that would separate him from other lower card guys.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Roland Pascual vs. <strong>Austyn Taylor</strong></p><p>

<em>Taylor have gotten two wins in last two shows so wonder if he is receiving a bit of a push right now. Pascual is more of a tag guy right now so he could afford singles loss without losing much steam.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Dragon Lee</strong> vs. Danny Cool</p><p>

<em>I do see Lee as number one guy on his team while Cool looks so far like number 2 on he´s team so picking Lee over Cool here based on the idea that perhaps their team mates will clash in near future to tie the score.</em></p>

December 1920 Aftermath & News

Aftermath

Backstage the party was in full flow as everyone celebrated what was SPW's biggest show to date, all the while Don Loomis, Frank Norris and Jay Lutter had locked themselves away in a separate room, apparently making plans for the year ahead, when they emerged Loomis made a speech to the gathered group of wrestlers:

"I want to thank you all for what has been a tremendous 1920, we have put on 11 shows, expanded our business to Texas, drawn ever increasing crowds and improved our shows month on month. Next year we're going to push things even harder, and I'm pleased to say we will be running 16 shows next year, with 4 trips to Beaumont to continue to increase our fan base over there. I will be sending out the new schedule to you all early in the new year, but for now drink lots of beer and have a good time!"
