Attendance: 458, Viewers: 11.063

Garcia: Hello everyone and thank you for joining us, thanks to the fans in attendance and everyone around the world watching via the Women’s Wrestling Network, tonight the Queens of American Wrestling invade San Antonio for a night of wrestling action-a-go-go!

Brayfield: There’s only one invasion happening tonight and that’s Ava Anderson and Lilly Snyder storming this tournament to reclaim their spot at the queens of tag team wrestling!

Hesketh: Tag team wrestling has always been held high in this company and tonight is no different. I know we have some exciting matchups and hot new teams booked, but let’s hear it straight from the woman who came up with the whole concept, our very own Commissioner Bomb!

Commissioner Bomb makes her entrance, looking unusually happy. Some fans even shout “Cherry Bomb!” along to her music, until eventually it dies down so she can talk.

Commissioner Bomb: Last month I dropped the bomb when I announced that Queens of American Wrestling would be hosting a tag team tournament, with the winners earning a shot at the QAW Tag Team titles. Tonight we light up the fuse with the first round of matches and I’m here to tell you all about it in person. First off, hot new rookies from the hot West Coast, Coco Malloy and Izzy Quick, the San Diego Girls will go head to head with three time QAW Tag Team champions Ava Anderson and Lilly Snyder! After that, a match I’m personally very excited about, all the way from Seattle, Washington, the AAA legends Good Lookin’ Bunny in a match against the team representing Japan’s legendary 5SSW, Talia Quinzel, Selina Svelte, the Uprising! But that is not all, because we also have our CILL representatives, Marianna Torres and Pinky Perez, who will be wrestling none other than Kate Lilly and Debbie Rose! And last but not least, tonight’s main event, the hottest rivalry in this entire promotion, representing the Line, Tex-Mex against Ronin 3’s Payback Inc!

58

Garcia: What a lineup! What a tournament! What a night of action-a-go-go!

Brayfield: What a shame for these girls from San Diego, hold my headset Garcia, I’m off to take care of business!

Hesketh: As if the deck wasn’t already stacked in Anderson & Snyder’s favor, now I see the leader of the Clenched Fist chose to accompany them to ringside as well!

The San Diego Girls vs Anderson & Snyder (with Boss Man Brayfield & Hellcat Hernandez)

Well aware of the situation going into this match, the team from San Diego played to their strengths as they stayed on the move, using their speed and high energy to get some offense rolling. Combined with plenty of quick tags to always keep the fresh girl in, this led to a quick match full of impressive aerial lucha moves from both sides, as Anderson and Snyder are way too familiar with wrestling against such a style and kept up with the youngsters. After a fast start though, Izzy Quick crashed and burned when she hit a sloppy springboard move, the turning point of the match. That was all the veterans needed to gain control of the match, cutting the ring in half to double team their opponent with grinding tactics. True to her name, Quick made a quick escape for the hot tag, but Anderson & Snyder were on a roll and had no problem keeping their momentum against Coco Malloy, who they ended up taking out with a Rock and Roll to finish the match.

Winners: Anderson & Snyder

Backstage, the Furies are training at the venue’s gym facilities. Marie Punnen is sharpening her kicks against a sandbag, each hit rattling the chain it hangs from. Honey Badger is wrapping up a set of heavy deadlifts, before she drops the bar with a loud bang to to move on to the squat rack and load that bar with more plates for her next set. Emma May is watching the scene with crossed arms, then turns to face someone who remains off camera.

May: Listen, I don’t care what Commissioner Bomb thinks! If she can set up a tournament and put my girls’ Tag Team titles on the line, it’s only fair she puts the American title up for grabs as well! I want my shot and I promise you, not only will I take the title, I’ll take Alina’s livelihood too when I leave her in that ring with a broken arm!

46

8gDIWvl.jpg

Garcia: Uh oh, looks like this tournament’s already had some unforeseen side effects!

Brayfield: You don’t have to like Emma May to respect her point. We saw the Shockwave title defended, we’ll see the Tag Team titles defended against the winners of this tournament, the American title must be on the line as well, and soon!

Hesketh: All in good time, dear colleagues. Alina has no shortage of challengers, we saw that last month when Foxxy LaRue claimed her stake, but right now we have a tournament to carry out and up next, two amazing teams in action as Good Lookin’ Bunny reunite for a match against the no-nonesense pairing of Talia Quinzel and Selina Svelte, the Uprising!

D4Mr1J1.jpgkupw4Vw.jpg25UZG0h.pngffi3NAo.jpgsuPaLQd.jpg

Good Lookin’ Bunny vs The Uprising

Natural babyfaces and multi-time AAA Tag Team champions Good Lookin’ Bunny have been working the independent scene as solo acts since that promotion’s closure, so seeing them as a team again made for a feel good moment as fans welcomed them back. The Uprising were pretty much the opposite, a rough and tumble young team on the rise who were more than eager to defeat GLB and add a considerable feather to their cap. This made for a pretty dramatic matchup and indeed everyone focused on the storytelling aspect of this match, complete with Good Lookin’ Bunny playing up their age and ring rust, although given Serena Star’s painful-to-watch performance, that may have been more real than it should. Working the lucha QAW style did no favours to either team, with Good Lookin’ Bunny struggling to not come across as a sad relic of their past selves while the tenacious mat grappler Svelte lacked the flashy aerial moves QAW fans expected and “The Mistress of the Backbreaker” Talia Quinzel severely limited in her moveset due to lucha libre’s ban on martinettes (spinal impact moves). On the bright side though, both teams have a lot of experience as units and the Uprising especially looked way more coherent than their time together would suggest, leading to Quinzel scoring the pin on Serena Star right after the 15 minute mark with a Rising Tide.

Winners: The Uprising

8gDIWvl.jpg

Garcia: If you’re going to bring in some outsider teams, might as well get the best ones available. That was all star power-a-go-go!

Brayfield: Y’all gotta ask yourselves though, what if one of those teams ends up winning the Tag Titles? Will they just run away with the belts? A rhetorical question, of course, because Anderson & Snyder are here to save the day and keep the gold with the company, around their waists.

Hesketh: Pinky Perez and Marianna Torres would think otherwise, they’ve had a long rivalry with your girls over who’s the best tag team in QAW and I’m itching to see them up in action next against one of the finest female tag teams in this business, Kate Lilly and Debbie Rose!

xUczrgK.jpgiOzT7Xu.jpg25UZG0h.pngiuOMLaj.jpgHZg4vpW.jpg

Lilly & Rose vs Perez & Torres

Arguably the hottest free agent women's tag team, Lilly & Rose have been sure-fire signings for the tournament, with many fans predicting their appearance as well as hoping for a dream match against Anderson & Snyder. Perez & Torres were looking to spoil that though, the Mexican team having a hot rivalry already with the 3 time QAW Tag Team champions. This heat had both sides hellbent for victory already from the opening bell and they went all out for a crazy bout that really stole the show. Lilly and Rose also did some great work in getting heat from the crowd as they acted like divas too good for this show, taking every opportunity to taunt their Mexican opponents and the local San Antonio crowd. It was this arrogance that cost them the match in the end, as Torres got an opening to tag in Perez, who rushed in to knock Debbie Rose off the apron and unleash a series of moves on Kate Lilly before delivering her Pink Butterfly Powerbomb for the finish.

Winners: Perez & Torres

Alina America is wrapping up a photo shooting backstage when Danielle Sweetheart walks up to her with a glass of cold water. America takes it with a nod of thanks and drinks up to cool herself from the heat of the lights as Sweetheart speaks.

Sweetheart: Listen, I’ve been thinking. You’re the champion, which comes with a huge target on your back. I’ve been there, I know what it’s like. So I’ve been thinking, how about we join forces? You need someone to watch your back and God knows I’m waging a war on my own against the Furies…

jSt5WGj.jpg

Pamela Rojo walks into the scene, munching on an apple as red as her hair, which she probably grabbed from the photo shoot snack buffet nearby.

Sweetheart: Hey Pamela, I was just telling Alina here about teaming up, you interested?

Rojo raises an eyebrow at the suggestion, her munching of the apple providing a dramatic (and somewhat silly) pause.

Rojo: Nah, I’ve had my share of backstabs recently. Besides, no one’s really your friend when you’re carrying that.

Rojo taps on the QAW American title around Alina America’s waist, then walks away to the bewilderment of the other two women.

49

8gDIWvl.jpg

Garcia: What a missed opportunity there, imagine if those three women would actually join forces!

Brayfield: No one wants to waste their time carrying Rojo on their back, just ask Hellcat Hernandez! She finally had enough and set out to achieve her destiny, which sooner or later will involve her being the QAW American champion!

Hesketh: It’s the top title in this company, of course it’s a highly sought after prize and so is winning this tournament for a chance to win the Tag Team titles. I could think of no better main event for this first round than this heated rivalry between the Line and Ronin 3, let’s do this!

Tex-Mex (with Ashley Grover) vs Payback Inc. (with Vinny Cruz and Foxxy LaRue)

There was more than the tournament at stake in the main event and having such heavy ringside presence only served to remind viewers that this was but another chapter in the ongoing war between Ronin 3 and the Line. Tex-Mex started in control of the match thanks to their superior teamwork and experience together, since Parissi is more used to teaming with the -long gone- Jillian Jarvis than Becca Barton. However, with Cruz and LaRue at ringside, the Line girls had their attention spread all over the place and it didn’t take long before Payback Inc. used that to turn the tide of the match and ground the opposition. Using classic tactics to isolate a single wrestler on their corner, Barton and Parissi got to work on beating down Houston Handley, who sold every hit for sympathy from the fans while Vinny Cruz took every chance he had to get in Handley’s face to talk trash and LaRue only fanned the flames of the audience’s hatred by antagonizing fans in the front row. For a moment, it was all Ronin 3 dominating the match, until Handley got a second wind out of nowhere and generated enough space for the hot tag to Perez. Rushing in with her wide arsenal of flying, spinning and rolling moves, Perez fought tooth and claw to get her side back in the contest but it all came to a dramatic halt when she dropkicked Parissi onto referee Erin Lawrence. With the ref momentarily stunned, Barton snuck in to poke the eyes of Perez before tagging herself in (appropriately loud, for the ref to hear) and hitting the Ronin Revenger, the group’s dreaded tag team finisher. Parissi dragged the ref next to the cover, but Erin Lawrence refused to make the count and called for the bell instead in a moment that had fans in an uproar of shock and excitement before it was announced that Tex-Mex were actually the winners via DQ: apparently the referee had seen Barton’s eye poke and disqualified her for that!

Winners: Tex-Mex

X7aUwGm.jpgNuLYzbD.jpgD91Wq9R.jpgahYsJps.jpgjcZ0JC6.jpgs3zexFx.jpg

Furious from the referee’s call and arguing the match outcome, Ronin 3 stormed the ring to get in her face. This only brought Ashley Grover and Houston Handley in too, ultimately ending in blows, save for the cowardly Vinny Cruz who immediately fled the ring. With numbers on their side and Perez still reeling from the Revenger, it didn’t take long for Foxxy LaRue’s group to get the better of their opponents and the show ended with them standing tall, but still out of the Tag Title race!

Ida Lowsley, Rhonda Broughton, & Susan Windham versus Strong Style Rising</p><p> </p><p>

Lowsley, Broughton, and Windham are the first three graduates from the Golden Goddesses Grappling Academy. They graduated earlier this month and this is their first professional match. Their opponents are three of the first four graduates of Kit Hatoyama’s dojo. None of the six women in the match have a lot of experience and this wasn’t a great match. The three new graduates are very green and it showed throughout the contest -- but they were able to have a couple of moments each where they were able to shine, but ultimately Aki Kamio hit her Flying Leg Lariat on Susan Windham and got the pin and Strong Style Rising got the big victory.</p><p> </p><p>

Spider Isako versus Jeri Behr</p><p> </p><p>

This was Spider Isako, the fourth representative of <em>Strong Style Rising</em> against one of the representatives of <em>The Continent</em>. Isako is a definite future star -- not just a graduate of Hatoyama’s dojo, but a full protege of the legendary Kit. Isako has the look of a star and the veteran Sweedish wrestler, Behr, made sure to make Isako look particularly dangerous -- like the potential standout member of her faction. In the end though, a big dropkick set Behr up for her picture-perfect Standing Moonsault and the veteran grappler got the win.</p><p> </p><p>

“Amazing” Maisie Laurels versus “The Pain from the Ukraine” Karen Bilous</p><p> </p><p>

The unaffiliated Maisie Laurels was looking to get her first win in Golden Goddesses of the Ring against the veteran strongwoman, Karen Bilous. Bilous was unsuccessful in her attempt to become the first Golden Crown Champion -- and the strongest woman in Europe definitely came out highly motivated. Maisie is a good young athlete with a lot of potential that has been a bright prospect -- and Bilous has a world of experience and accomplishments and they had a very solid match up. Laurels played off of Bilous’ power -- trying to stay out of reach and hit quick, while Bilous tossed Laurels everytime she got a hold of her. After a big Full Nelson Slam, Bilous got the win.</p><p> </p><p>

Steph Blake is one of the most experienced members of the GGOTR roster -- which has a good mix of veterans (Blake, Geena, Aud, Bilous, Behr, and McKenna all have at least fifteen years of experience) with the rookies. This is one of those examples here. Rose is a two year pro against twenty year pro Blake, and Blake was definitely putting Rose through the paces. Rose got several big hope spots and opportunities to shine, but also made sure that she got her shit in and looked like a major star. In the end, Blake’s trademark Slingshot DDT ended the match.</p><p> </p><p>

K.T. Devonshire versus Viper McKenna</p><p> </p><p>

The GGOTR Pure Heart Championship is competed for under Pure Wrestling rules. The rules were announced before the contest and the two British wrestlers, one representing <em>All the Queen’s Women</em> and the other, an unaffiliated grappler, took the Pure Wrestling rules to heart and went at a technical battle with no real strikes. They chain wrestled and went from submission to submission. The 18 people in the building, yes 18, were really enjoying the technical display that looked like it would have belonged in CWW or ROF. Devonshire locked in a wicked STF and wrenched on McKenna’s neck and the veteran was forced to submit and Devonshire is the Pure Heart Champion.</p><p> </p><p>

K.T. Devonshire defeated Viper McKenna in 13:41 by submission to win the GGOTR Pure Heart Championship.</p><p> </p><p>

The Dublin Gals versus The Continent</p><p> </p><p>

A match up of <em>All the Queen’s Women</em> representatives and representatives of <em>The Continent</em>. It was an excellent tag team match that really thrilled the eighteen people in attendance. The Dublin Gals have been making a name for themselves in Europe, alongside Janovic and Ventura. The two mainland European wrestlers were strong and hit hard and vicious and worked well in their first pairing, but they weren’t a tag team match for the fluidity of The Dublin Gals -- who worked the rules and the match to their advantage and were able to get the victory after Blair Kerrigan took to the sky for a Top Rope Legdrop on Zofia Janoic and secured the second big win for their faction of the night.</p><p> </p><p>

The Dublin Gals defeated The Continent [Zofia Janovic & Serena Ventura] in 13:46 by pinfall after Blair Kerrigan hit Zofia Janovic with a Top Rope Legdrop to win the GGOTR Tag Crown Championship.</p><p> </p><p>

Geena the Warrior Princess versus “The Red Queen” Thea Davis ©</p><p> </p><p>

Geena the Warrior Princess is a well known wrestler in Europe -- having thrice been UCR’s Women’s Champion. The big Amazonian like American woman was a perfect opponent for Thea Davis’ first title defence -- except Geena’s cardio was a little lacking. She was never a cardio machine even in her prime and now past her forty first birthday, her stamina isn’t great, but she looked good in her Amazonian style gear and worked very physical for one of the best traveled women’s wrestlers on the planet. Davis looks like a star, carries herself like a star, and tonight, wrestled like one too. She sold all of Geena’s power moves as being devastating, but she also never died in her selling. She made sure she always looked alive and credible. After taking a beating, Davis unloaded with a flurry of offense, including a Super Kick, followed by a Mafia Kick that took Geena off her feet and allowed Davis to hit a big Flying Elbow Drop to get the victory.</p><p> </p><p>

Thea Davis defeated Geena the Warrior Princess in 17:22 by pinfall after a Flying Elbow Drop to retain the GGOTR Golden Crown Championship. This was Thea Davis’ first successful title defence.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>QAW American Lucha 2020</strong></p><p>

Location: Albuquerque, NM</p><p>

Attendance: 462, Viewers: 10.938</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Garcia:</strong> Hello everyone and welcome to QAW American Lucha, straight out of Albuquerque, New Mexico! I’m Alfonso Garcia, joined by the legendary Farrah Hesketh, but we seem to be lacking our other broadcast partner…</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> I was told there’s been a minor incident and he had to rush backstage but here’s the music for Anderson & Snyder so we might be hearing from him already!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><iframe width="560" height="315" src="</p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qiRiPtg9EFk" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/qiRiPtg9EFk"</a> frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe><p>

Ava Anderson and Lilly Snyder make their way to the ring, followed by Boss Man Brayfield.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Brayfield:</strong> It seems Queens of American Wrestling’s got themselves a situation with some queens of Japanese wrestling… See, my clients here, three time QAW Tag Team champions, they were supposed to wrestle The Uprising tonight for a spot in the finals and a shot at those titles. However, it just so happens that Ms. Quinzel and Ms. Svelte already had a match for 5SSW in Japan several hours ago and there’s no way they could have caught a flight to New Mexico in time to wrestle their scheduled match here tonight. Even if they somehow made it across the globe in time, they’d be beat up and jet lagged and that’s not what three time champions deserve to wrestle! So I’m calling it right here and now, it’s a forfeit, Ava Anderson and Lilly Snyder are going to the finals!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="p89oIgy.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/p89oIgy.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Commissioner Bomb rushes out, no music or fancy entrance routine, just mic in hand and looking really frustrated.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bomb:</strong> It pains me to say so, but you are right. Quinzel and Svelte are not in the building tonight, so as per the rules of this company, they are considered to be forfeiting this match. Anderson & Snyder will be in the finals, against either Tex-Mex or Torres & Perez. However, this doesn’t mean it’s a night off for the Clenched Fist. Losing this match means there’s a gap in the show and instead of the tag match that was scheduled, I’ll be replacing that with Alexis Lee Littlefeather versus Hellcat Hernandez! Oh, and by the way, Uprising…</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-size:14px;">YOU’RE FIRED!</span></p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#F4A460;">34</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Garcia:</strong> What?! She can’t just fire them like that!</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> She can and she just did, Alfonso. She’s the Commissioner.</p><p>

<strong>Garcia:</strong> But you’re the owner!</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> That’s right. I put her in that place and I agree with her call. If you’re scheduled and don’t show up, especially in such big matches, you can expect there’ll be consequences!</p><p>

<strong>Brayfield:</strong> What are you two blabbering about?</p><p>

<strong>Garcia:</strong> The Uprising just got fired!</p><p>

<strong>Brayfield:</strong> Well there’s no shortage of replacements, as you’ll see, Alfonso.</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> Indeed, our opening contest features QAW’s latest signing, Black Diamond, against the hotly tipped rookie Modesty Pador!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="8gDIWvl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8gDIWvl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p>

<img alt="MAbHgpN.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/MAbHgpN.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="qqbY0SD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/qqbY0SD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

<strong>Black Diamond vs Modesty Pador</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Neither woman got a really significant reaction during her entrance, but that was rectified with the appearance of QAW Shockwave champion, Little Miss Perfect, who brought her chair for a front row seat of the match. Both competitors’ lack of experience showed and it didn’t help that Black Diamond probably caved under the stress of making her professional debut, but the match did a decent job of showcasing both rookies and Pador scored the win when she forced her opponent to tap out to the Crossface. After the match, Little Miss Perfect applauded mockingly, then folded her chair and returned to the locker room, shaking her head in disappointment and laughing, apparently not seeing what all the fuss surrounding Pador is about.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Modesty Pador</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">19</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Garcia:</strong> I can see potential in both those ladies, they can only get better with time.</p><p>

<strong>Brayfield:</strong> The only potential I saw in that match was sitting at ringside and holding the QAW Shockwave title, Garcia!</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> The champion might want to keep an eye out on our next match, because either participant might be challenging her for that title belt soon.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="8gDIWvl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8gDIWvl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p>

<strong>“California” Coco Malloy vs Darkness Cat</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Much like the three way match Malloy and Cat had with Izzy Quick two months ago, this was a high flying spectacle of impressive moves and big flips. Cat had the experience edge and confidence of having won that match, but Malloy had a point to prove after losing that and getting knocked out of the tag team tournament, so she fought with a passion and intensity unusual for her laid back character. This did catch Darkness Cat by surprise and it made for some exciting spots right out of the gate, but the masked luchadora was able to get her game together in time and turn things around to eventually hit her Black Cat Moonsault and win yet again.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Darkness Cat</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><span style="color:#F4A460;">34</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Moments after the match is over, the signature sound of Raquel Alvarado’s music hits the speakers and “100% Rudo” comes out with a mic and Millie the Minx by her side.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Alvarado:</strong> Congratulations on your victory, seniorita… I have been watching your progress and I am here to offer you the chance to be part of something greater than yourself.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Millie:</strong> We are putting together a team of the most talented, the most charismatic and the most beautiful women on this roster.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Alvarado:</strong> Chosen of course by the woman who tops that list: me</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Millie:</strong> Think about it, chica!</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="color:#F4A460;">33</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Garcia:</strong> Could it be? Are we witnessing the birth of another group in QAW? Is Darkness Cat going to join those two? And who else might tag along?</p><p>

<strong>Brayfield:</strong> You said the right word, Garcia: Tag. Let’s find out who’s gonna face my clients in the tournament finals!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><img alt="8gDIWvl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8gDIWvl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Tex-Mex vs Perez & Torres</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

A testament to QAW’s habit of blurring the lines between tecnico and rudo, this match saw two popular babyface teams collide instead of them each facing The Uprising or Anderson & Snyder. It was a welcome change of pace though, with all four ladies shaking hands in a show of respect before the match and setting the brakes on fire as they fought the match to prove which is the better team. With plenty of big moves, a fast pace full of athleticism and a very competitive style, this match felt like something straight out of a joshi promotion, only with more lucha libre and held in the States.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="X7aUwGm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/X7aUwGm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="NuLYzbD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NuLYzbD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

With the match being that exciting (to the point where it turned out to be match of the night) it only got Toni Parissi and Becca Barton a ton of heel heat when they made an appearance to try and interfere in the action. Fortunately, Teresa Perez saw them coming and slingshot herself off the ropes for a spectacular over the top plancha that took out both members of Payback Inc. before they could physically interfere. However, the damage had been done and once T-Pez climbed back up to the ring, Torres was in position to grab her arm and pull her back inside, right into the Venus Fly-Trap. Meanwhile, Pinky Perez had ascended the turnbuckle and blocked Handley, who was rushing in to break up the hold, with a huge crossbody off the top. Caught in the middle of the ring with no escape and no help from her teammate, Perez was forced to tap out and the CILL representatives won the match for a spot at the tournament finals.</p><p>

<strong>Brayfield:</strong> This is exactly how I wanted this to go. Now these ladies will have a chance to put their money where their mouth is and stop calling themselves the best team in QAW while Anderson & Snyder are around!</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> I can’t wait for that match!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Alexis Lee Littlefeather vs Hellcat Hernandez</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Although it seemed like a last minute filler match, this was anything but that, not only because both women are talented and popular wrestlers who can work an exciting match but also because of the existing heat between their groups. Back in January at QAW Starshow, Hernandez and Felicia Luck beat Juana Hurricane and Sonnaz Shah, so now she had a chance to get her hands on the third member of Storm Front. Meanwhile, ALF was coming off a missed title opportunity against Little Miss Perfect for the QAW Shockwave belt, so she was itching for a big win that would get her back on track and with Hernandez having a bad night that made her sloppy in the ring, it felt like Littlefeather had a chance. The two ladies played up the storytelling aspect of their contest and Littlefeather had a fair share of hope spots but round the 15 minute mark, she got hit a series of kicks to the head: first a roundhouse, then a superkick and next a mafia kick that knocked her down. Referee Erin Lawrence jumped in to break up the action and after checking on Littlefeather’s condition for a bit, decided she was unable to continue.</p><p>

<strong>Alina America, Danielle Sweetheart & Ashley Grover vs Foxxy LaRue, Emma May & Pamela Rojo (with Vinny Cruz)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

As is tradition, the main event of the show was a trios match. Instead of faction versus faction action though, this featured six women of different allegiances but with plenty of heat between them already. Alina America, who some have criticised as being “overprotected” and not “a fighting champion” wrestled her first match in 2020, looking to prove naysayers wrong but also to protect herself from potential title contenders in case she was pinned. Danielle Sweetheart, who tried to get a faction going last month, was facing Rojo who’d shot down her plan, her long time rival Foxxy LaRue and her latest nemesis, Emma May. Likewise, Ashley Grover had her chance to prove she belongs with QAW’s main stars and meet once again with the leader of Ronin 3 in LaRue.</p><p> </p><p>

The match began at an unusually slow pace, allowing fans to wrap their minds around it all and announcers to break down everything going on between the six competitors. Grover started the match for her team, testing her Texas tough against the stiff strikes of Emma May at first and the sheer power of Rojo later. LaRue was all too happy to jump in and pick apart the pieces, though her presence seemed to light a fire under Grover who got a second wind for the hot tag to Danielle Sweetheart. The Queen of Hearts had an axe to grind against both LaRue and May, leading to some exciting back and forth exchanges before her opponents were able to isolate and wear her down. Fans cheered for Sweetheart to escape as hard as they cheered for Alina America to get the hot tag and after several failed attempts, Sweetheart finally made the tag to bring the QAW American champion into the match. America cleaned house and led to collective rejoicing, but her dominance of the ring meant that LaRue and May left their spots at the corner to lock horns with Grover and Sweetheart respectively outside the ring. This momentary lack of focus was all Rojo needed to charge in and take her down for some ground and pound, before she deadlifted her up in a freakish show of strength in order to deliver her Running Powerslam finisher and score the pin!</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Pamela Rojo</strong></p><p><strong>

Garcia:</strong> Rojo pinned the champ! She pinned the QAW American champion!</p><p>

<strong>Brayfield:</strong> Correct me if I’m wrong, Ms. Hesketh, but that should put her in line for a title shot!</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> Indeed, and not only that, Rojo has held every title in QAW except the top prize, I’m certain she’ll be hellbent on becoming the first woman to win every title in this company!</p><p> </p><p>

GGOTR Live for the Moment

Friday Week 4, March 2020

Held at Cardiff in Wales

21 people in attendance, 4,200 viewers on the Women’s Wrestling Network

Broadcast Team: Ian Rosa & Anne Trenningham

XTaW8BM.jpggciDQ4l.jpg

Rosa, “Golden Goddesses of the Ring is back on the Women’s Wrestling Network tonight with Live for the Moment. We are back in Cardiff, Wales to bring you the very best in European Women’s wrestling. What an event we have scheduled for you tonight and we thank you for inviting us into your home. I’m not calling this alone. I’m joined in the broadcast booths by one of the premier wrestling journalists in all of Europe, Anne Trennigham.”

Trenningham, “And it is a right pleasure to be here tonight, Ian. I’m over the moon with the lineup on tonight’s card. Thea Davis will attempt to defend the Golden Crown against Jeri Behr -- who has been undefeated and very impressive on our first two shows. It’s another battle of the Continent and All the Queen’s Women -- and I’m excited to see how it continues to develop between these two camps.”

Rosa, “They are quickly establishing themselves as the two premier camps in Europe. All the Queen’s Women currently has all of the championships here in Golden Goddesses in their possession -- and you know the Continent wants to change that. We will also see the remaining three members of All the Queen’s Women team up to face Steph Blake and the Viper Squad. Blake and the Viper Squad are all unaffiliated -- that means neither woman trains with a specific camp, but all three want gold. We know the Viper Squad wants an opportunity to claim the Tag Crown as their own -- but will they all be able to co-exist tonight against a unit as tight as All the Queen’s Women seems to be?”

Trenningham, “They’re professionals, Ian. Steph and Viper have been around a long, long time. They’ve logged a lot of frequent flier miles. They know they have to work together if they want opportunities at championships and I expect them to do just that.”

Rosa, “We will find out tonight right here on Live for the Moment!”

Gypsy Rose versus Serena Ventura

The two young women are both looking for their first wins in GGOTR. Ventura is representing The Continent -- which is more of a collective of women who train together rather than a full unit like All the Queen’s Women. Rose is more of a solo act -- being the only Canadian woman on the roster. Ventura is a hard-hitting German wrestler, very much in the traditional German style of being very physical and snug. The crowd was also very much behind her as Gypsy Rose flew for her. The high-flying Rose was able to hit a couple of big spots -- including a second rope moonsault onto a standing Ventura that got a near fall, but ultimately it was Ventura and a picture-perfect Fisherman’s Suplex, with a perfect bridge, that got the victory.

Serena Ventura defeated Gypsy Rose in 9:03 by pinfall with a Fisherman’s Suplex.

Ida Lowsley versus “The Pain from the Ukraine” Karen Bilos

Ida Lowsley is one of the first three graduates of the Golden Goddesses training camp -- and has aligned herself with her other two graduates to continue training together. At 5’6”, 141 pounds, Lowsley is smaller than the powerhouse Bilous -- but her technician-striker hybrid style makes her a good prospect for the future. Tonight wasn’t the future. Tonight was Europe’s Strongest Woman, the Pain from the Ukraine, giving Lowsley a crash course in what it means to be outmatched in every avenue. Bilous was stronger, faster, meaner. She’s been more ferocious in GGOTR than she’s ever been in EWA -- and her strength has been highlighted even more. There was a good stretch where Lowsley was kicking at Bilous’ thighs, trying to take out the base of the big woman. Lowsley hit the ropes and came charging back -- but got snatched up in a Bear Hug that almost put Lowsley out -- but as she fought back, Bilous lifted her up above her head in a Press Slam and dropped her to the mat before pinning her.

Karen Bilous defeated Ida Lowsley in 5:41 by pinfall after a Press Powerslam.

Spider Isako versus Susan Windham

Windham is another graduate of the Golden Goddesses camp -- and is very small. At 5’2” and 108 pounds, she gives up size to every other woman on the GGOTR roster -- her opponent, Spider Isako, included. The Japanese striker has a spectacular look and is a hellacious athlete. This was Spider’s second match in GGOTR and it was an opportunity for the 19 year old to shine. She lit Windham up the entire match with stiff strikes that had the smaller woman’s body -- primarily legs and back, covered in nasty red welts from the impact. This was a very physical match that also saw Windham springboard off the ropes -- but never turning around, and landing on Isako’s shoulders. She spun around with a huricanarana that really popped the audience -- but it was a pop that quickly turned louder when Isako rolled back up and launched through the air with a Jumping Knee Strike that turned Windham inside out and got Isako her first win in Europe

Spider Isako defeated Susan Windham in 6:34 by pinfall following a Jumping Knee Strike.

“The Black Widow” Zofia Jankovic versus “Candy Crusher” Chiyeko Kita

Chiyeko Kita recently left 5SSW wrestling, telling the Japanese wrestling press that after nine years and only finding success in the tag division, she wanted to branch out and see what she could do outside of the only company she had ever called home. She was quickly snatched up by Golden Goddesses of the Ring and this match was her debut -- against a very, very motivated Zofia Jankovic. Kita came in with a big following and the crowd was very happy to see the former Candy Cane -- who was announced as the Candy Crusher before this contest -- in action. Jankovic was looking to rebound after her tag team loss last month. The Belarusian striker and the Japanese technician-striker were very well matched and the crowd was really into everything these two women did. This was the most physical match up so far -- neither woman pulled any punches and worked a style that was as believable as professional wrestling could be in 2020. Kita locked in a Triangle Choke at one point that Jankovic tried to powerbomb her way out of - but was unsuccessful, and ended up having to rabbit-kick the back of Kita’s head to get her to break the hold. When Kita got to her feet, she was caught flush with a KO head kick and Jankovic got the huge win.

Zofia Jankovic defeated Chiyeko Kita in 14:07 by pinfall following a K.O. Head Kick

Steph Blake & The Viper Squad versus All the Queen’s Women

The announcers billboarded this match at the beginning of the show, but it is a match with major championship implications. K.T. Devonshire is the Pure Heart Champion, The Dublin Gals are Tag Crown Champions -- and the three women have aligned with Thea Davis to make a formidable unit -- a unit that is a proper stable in the truest sense of the word in pro wrestling. They’ve been very active on social media lately with posts of them traveling, training, and socializing with one another. They have made it their mission to rule GGOTR and control all the championships. Blake and the Viper Squad don’t have that luxury. They don’t have affiliations. They don’t have a cadre behind them, but tonight the three of them had to be on the same page. Blake and McKenna are both very experienced veterans -- 42 combined years of professional experience. All the Queen’s Women were arrogant and definitely thought they were going to win this one easily -- but the two veterans combined with the plucky Laurels, were a step quicker than All the Queen’s Women the entire match. Laurels and McKenna took it to the Tag Crown Champions -- it was clear they wanted another opportunity at the belts and Blake kept after the young Devonshire. Ultimately it was Blake and her Slingshot DDT that got the victory over All the Queen’s Women -- who definitely seemed dismayed after the match that they didn’t come out on top.

Steph Blake & The Viper Squad beat All The Queen’s Women by pinfall in 18:58 when Steph Blake pinned K.T. Devonshire following a Slingshot DDT.

“The Swedish Superwoman” Jeri Behr versus “The Red Queen” Thea Davis ©

Behr has been undefeated so far in GGOTR and has been the standout member of The Continent’s training collective. Thea Davis has been further cementing herself as the top female wrestler in Europe (and truthfully, might be the top wrestler regardless of gender… Take that 21CW). The two women had a great athletic contest. It was slow and told the story of Jeri Behr, the veteran with 18 years of experience against the younger, stronger champion. The crowd was firmly behind the Swede, even though Davis is from Coventry and you would think would be the favorite. Behr had all the heart and finding spirit in the match as Davis continued to overpower the high- level gymnast. Behr kept hitting big, athletic moves that made it look like she was about to win and then Davis would cut her off and use her power to regain control. The finishing sequence saw Behr fire up and hit three straight dropkicks, a flying headscissors and then a springboard forearm. She had Davis set up and went for the Standing Moonsault, but Davis got her knees up and they went right into the midsection of Behr. Behr had the wind knocked out of her and Davis went to the top rope -- but Behr kipped up and leapt from the mat to the top rope and went to suplex Davis off -- but Davis blocked the attempt and pushed Behr to the mat. Behr landed flat on her back and before she could get up, Davis had driven her elbow into her sternum with a Flying Elbow Drop that got Davis the three count and her second successful defence of the Golden Crown.

Thea Davis defeated Jeri Behr in 25:08 by pinfall following Flying Elbow Drop to retain the Golden Crown Championship. This was Davis’ second successful defence of the championship.

QAW Big City Breakdown 2020

Date: Fri W3 Apr 2020

Location: Dallas, TX

Attendance: 458, Viewers: 12.042

qdR2xLL.jpgU68wTfF.jpg7WHAT6i.jpg

Garcia: Good evening folks, Alberto Garcia here, coming to you live from Dallas, Texas!

Brayfield: Finally, we’re back to the Lone Star State.

Garcia: What a night this is shaping up to be, we have finally reached the finals of Commissioner Bomb’s Tag Team tournament, with a shot at the titles on the line. Who will be the winning team to face Marie Punnen and Honey Badger at The Showdown in June?

Brayfield: This has to be one of your “rhetorical questions-a-go-go”, right? Of course Ava Anderson and Lilly Snyder will win, and once they do that, they’ll move on to become four time tag team champions!

Hesketh: Not so fast, Big Boss Man! They have some talented opponents in Pinky Perez and Marianna Torres to overcome first, plus we got a whole show planned before that big main event! Let’s take it to Pamela Rojo and our Commissioner in the ring!

jSt5WGj.jpgp89oIgy.jpg

Pamela Rojo and Commissioner Bomb are indeed inside the ring as the show starts. If they did their entrance routines on the way in, they did it before the show began airing on the Women’s Wrestling Network.

Rojo: I’ve been in this business long enough to know, things can change in an instance. This is why I called you out here. This is me hedging my bet. Last month, at American Lucha, I pinned the QAW American champion, Alina America, clean as a whistle, dead center in the middle of this ring. I know this puts me in line for a shot at the title, but I want to officially hear it from you, in public, in front of all these people and with the world as our witness watching from around the globe on the Women’s Wrestling Network. Two months from now, QAW Showdown, Pamela Rojo versus Alina America for the American title!

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="

Rz9AS02.jpg

Commissioner Bomb’s mic is immediately drowned out by the music of Emma May. The cocky fighter makes her way out to the ring and grabs a microphone of her own.

May: Now hold it right there. You may have been the one to pin the champion, but that’s only because I was busy elsewhere. You know it’s true Pam, but hey, I’m not one to argue or suck up for my chances. I’m a fightin’ girl. So here’s what I came here to say. Alina will defend her title at The Showdown in June. Meanwhile, how about Pamela Rojo versus Emma May next month, for the right to be in that title match?

Rojo: No no no,I’ve already earned my shot! You see…

Bomb: Done

Rojo: What?!

Bomb: Next month is the BattleBowl and as big a deal as it is, I need more matches than a single Battle Royal for the show. I like the sound of you two facing each other and from what I’m hearing, these fans like it too. I’m booking it!

50

Garcia: Huge match for next month! Doesn’t feel fair for Rojo, but I’d be lying if I said I’m not excited to see them go against one another.

Brayfield: Fair? Life ain’t fair, Alfonso. Emma May saw her chance and took it. She’ll fight for that spot. You have to respect that.

Hesketh: She sure played her cards right, now Rojo can’t back down from her challenge.

Brayfield: And the Commissioner got herself a big match for next month.

Hesketh: She was made Commissioner for a reason, listen to these fans, she’s giving them what they want to see.

Felicia Luck vs Modesty Pador

The opening match was a showcase of the next generation, featuring the first ever female graduate of the MAW Mid Atlantic Boot Camp, Felicia Luck, against Modesty Pador, who has been trained by the well known Canadian Dragon. For all their credentials though, both ladies clearly lack the experience to work anything spectacular so early in their careers, so they stuck to a clearly scripted and rehearsed routine from bell to bell. Still, fans were very into the match, whether because of them being forgiving of the rookies or still riding a high from the opening segment and it made for a seemingly better experience than the actual in-ring action would suggest, finishing with Felicia Luck running out of luck and tapping out to her opponent’s Crossface.

Winner: Modesty Pador

25

Garcia: Another win for young Modesty Pador, I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss her like our QAW Shockwave champion did last month.

Brayfield: The Clenched Fist girls won’t be happy with Luck’s loss here, but thankfully the leader’s out next to show everyone how it’s done.

Hesketh: Hellcat Hernandez injured Alexis Lee Littlefeather in their match last month, apparently on purpose, and Sonnaz Shah is out for revenge. She requested a match against the Hellcat and it’s up next!

Hellcat Hernandez vs Sonnaz Shah

As the announcing team pointed out prior to the match, Shah was out to make Hernandez pay for what she did to Littlefeather and that story was played up throughout the match. The Iranian and youngest member of the Storm Front assaulted her opponent before introductions were over, setting the tone for their fast paced match that followed. Caught by surprise, Hernandez sold her opponent’s offense for the opening part of the match, before she motioned for a timeout and rolled out of the ring to regroup. Shah gave chase to the outside, only for Hernandez to reverse her move and whip her to the barricade. Extremely comfortable in a brawl outside the ring, Hernandez lay into her opponent to make up for the ground lost, all the while talking trash and looking for ways to use the environment for maximum damage, as if she was looking to injure the young rookie as well. Once she was happy with the damage inflicted, Hernandez took things back to the ring for the pin. Realizing her predicament, Shah made a desperate recovery to get back in the match and caught her returning opponent by surprise, but her overexcitement and inexperience led her to make a mistake when she closed in for a fisherman suplex. Hernandez powered her way out of the setup hold and shover Shah away to retaliate with a Running Bulldog and cover for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Hellcat Hernandez

42

After the match is over, referee Erin Lawrence raises the hand of Hellcat Hernandez in victory but the leader of the Clenched Fist yanks it away and continues to stomp on the fallen Shah! Attempts to pull her away only end with the ref shoved away and it seems like Sonnaz Shah is at the mercy (or lack thereof) of fate and her opponent!

It’s Juana Hurricane! Not seen for months since January’s Starshow, the leader of the Storm Front got a hero’s welcome as she rushed down to the ring for the save, forcing Hernandez to roll out under the bottom rope before Juana could get her hands on her.

27

Garcia: Juana is back! She’s back!

Hesketh: She and Sonnaz lost their match to Hernandez and Felicia Luck in January, looks like that sent her back to the drawing board but she’s here now and look at the intensity in her eyes! She wants a piece of Hellcat Hernandez!

Brayfield: And I want to see my girls win a tournament, can we go on with the show?

Garcia: Speaking of which, that’s not the only tag team match happening tonight, folks! The legendary pair of Kate Lilly and Debbie Rose are back in action, against the high flying Darkness Cat and her partner, the debuting Joy Ryder. Here we go!

Lilly & Rose vs Darkness Cat and Joy Ryder

Lilly & Rose need no introductions, but this is exactly what this match was for Joy Ryder, who went all out to showcase the flashiest moves in her arsenal as she attempted to win over the audience. This complemented the aerial style of her partner (though Ryder is primarily a technical wrestler, even if she’s evolved into a solid all-rounder) as well as their approach of surprising the veteran team. There’s a reason however Lilly & Rose have had so much success in their careers and a reason why they’re regarded as one of the best women’s tag teams in America and that reason was clear on display as they were able to regroup from the initial blitz, turn the match around and secure the win after Lilly caught Joy Ryder with her Lilly Launch Pad finisher for the pin.

Winners: Lilly & Rose

49

Garcia: A disappointing loss for Joy Ryder in her debut, but no shame in losing to one of the best teams in this sport.

Brayfield: Watch your mouth, Alfonso. There’s only one team on top of that mountain and that’s Anderson & Snyder!

Hesketh: Ryder was still impressive in defeat, a promising young prosp…

Farrah Hesketh’s words are cut off by the music of Raquel Alvarado, who walks out with Millie the Minx while Darkness Cat is still helping up Joy Ryder.

Millie: Poor kitty kitty…

Alvarado: Kitty lost her match tonight…

Millie: And you know why that happened? Because she aligned herself with an untested rookie! I mean… look at yourself, Cat. How much longer can you waste your talent on whatever it is you dragged in? Don’t you want to be on the winning team, for once?

Alvarado: What Millie’s trying to say is, we’re nice people. We’re being polite. But there are limits to our patience. We won’t be coming out here for a third time to extend our hand. Join us, or face the consequences of opposing us!

32

Garcia: Strong words from Raquel Alvarado, what’s Darkness Cat going to do?

Brayfield: Cats do what cats do and this is one unpredictable cat!

Ronin 3 make their entrance, accompanied as always by Vinny Cruz. Toni Parissi and Becca Barton get in the ring and hit the corners to antagonize the audience, but Foxxy LaRue grabs a mic from the announcers’ table and shouts into it for the music to stop.

LaRue: Before this match begins, let me make something perfectly clear. Ronin 3 got screwed out of the Tag Team tournament. That’s right, my sisters Toni and Becca there got screwed, because God forbid, if they advanced they’d be knocking out those precious little Tex-Mex girls! Now that injustice calls for retribution and that’s what they did last month. But oh no, it’s not even after that, now all three of us have to face all three members of the Line tonight, just so they can have the last laugh. And I know it’s all because of you, Farrah!

Farrah Hesketh looks just as shocked as her broadcast partners and fans in the audience do.

LaRue: Don’t give me that doe-eyed look, you! Everyone knows Ashley Grover’s your girl!

Hesketh: I don’t know what you’re trying to imply there, Foxxy, but…

LaRue: You don’t get to interrupt greatness! I’m talking here! See, you may have fooled everyone by putting Commissioner Bomb in charge, but not me. I know you still got some pull backstage. This is all your doing!

Hesketh: This is insane…

Cruz: What Foxxy’s trying to say here is, the Line keep getting opportunities at the expense of Ronin 3. So why don’t we spice this up a bit, give both sides something to sweat over? Here’s our offer: whichever team loses tonight, they can’t have any of their members enter the Queen of the Ring tournament in July.

Hesketh: I’m not speaking for anyone but myself, but I’d be glad not to have to deal with any of you during our biggest show of the year!

Cruz: Oh you’ll come to regret this, trust me. Because Ronin 3 ain’t here to play and Foxxy? She’s…

LaRue: I’m the baddest b*tch in this business, that’s who I am!

The Line vs Ronin 3 (with Vinny Cruz)

Of all the six women in this match, only Teresa Perez was primarily a high flyer, while the remaining five mostly have a brawl-based approach. This, combined with the tension between the two groups and high stakes involving the upcoming Queen of the Ring tournament made for a slow start to the match that allowed it to build up slowly and steadily. Ashley Grover walked to the middle of the ring and dared LaRue to come back up her talking, but the leader of Ronin 3 sent Toni Parissi instead, saving herself for later in the match. The two women traded blows and Grover quickly got herself in control of a side headlock after a sloppily thrown forearm from the New York Badass. After taking a series of moves, Parissi was able to block an early attempt at a suplex and tag Barton in, the Canadian rushing in to make up for the lost ground. Meanwhile, Grover made the tag to Handley and soon enough, it became a war of attrition between Tex-Mex and Payback Inc, full of quick tags and double team moves. LaRue only teased entering the match but never actually did, garnering herself plenty of heat from the fans, except for the finish where she had Vinny Cruz distract the referee so she could use the ropes to choke Perez while her teammates laid down the punishment on her. Perez sold the attack as if she was legitimately in risk of being choked out and stumbled right into a Flash Head Kick from LaRue who had tagged herself in to score the pin.

Winners: Ronin 3

49

Garcia: This is not right! Ronin 3 stole the win!

Brayfield: Quit yer whinin’ Alberto, you do what you have to win.

Hesketh: I should have seen this coming…

Brayfield: Call it like it is, miss. They played you and your gal.

Hesketh: You worry about your own “gals” mister

Brayfield: That I will, I’m off to take care of business!

Perez & Torres vs Anderson & Snyder (with Boss Man Brayfield)

Could this match top the excitement and action of the one that came before it? The two teams seemed to take this as a personal challenge and went all out to have the most jaw-dropping contest possible from start to finish. The resulting showdown proved absolutely worthy of being the finals of the tag team tournament and Pinky Perez in particular made heads turn with her performance. Starting the match for her team, she hit a series of kicks, ranas and lucha arm drags but every time she’d get some offense rolling, her opponents would make the tag and she had to start all over again. The best she got was a near fall on Snyder, before she gave up and tagged her partner in so she could catch her breath. Torres rushed into the ring and kept the match flowing with her slick chain wrestling skills, though her opponents were able to interrupt a combination with some double-teaming from the outside and gain control of the match. From that point on, Anderson & Snyder did what they do best, which is turn tag team wrestling into pure poetry. Their intrinsic understanding of each other combined with their experience as a unit was way too much for Torres to take, who found herself on the wrong side of town as her opponents cut her off and put her down in a textbook show of tag tactics. Fans were desperate for Perez to get the hot tag, but every time Torres gained some ground on one of her rivals, the other was there to shut her down. Her opening came when she countered a move into an attempted Venus Fly-Trap which, while not fully applied, was enough to scare Ava Anderson long enough for the tag to be made. Perez came rushing in and overtook Anderson just in time to dropkick Snyder off the apron, inches before the tag. The masked one’s charge and following series of high flying moves had fans behind her in hopes of a win, but when she attempted a top rope splash, a recovered Snyder grabbed her teammate’s legs from the outside and dragged her away just in time for Perez to crash and burn on the mat. With all competitors reeling by that point, Snyder tagged herself in and went to work on Perez, but there it was clear something was missing: the one-up from Ava Anderson. Snyder got a really close call, but Perez got a shoulder up just inches before the third mat slap. Frustrated, Snyder tagged her partner in and they attempted to pull off a double DDT from the second rope, but Torres rushed in and got herself at the base of a Tower of Doom situation, turning the move in her favor as Perez used the momentum to roll through and get a shocking pin over Ava Anderson!

Winners: Perez & Torres

51

Garcia: They won! Pinky Perez and Marianna Torres will be challenging for the titles! What a lucha extravaganza a go go!

Hesketh: They all went hard and left everything in the ring. Listen to these fans, they are applauding all four ladies for this amazing match!

Garcia: How will the Furies respond to their new challengers? And what does this mean for the 3 time champions Anderson & Snyder?

Hesketh: I bet our broadcast partner will tell you all about it, Alfonso.

Garcia: I’m just glad he’s at ringside and not here having a meltdown next to me!

Hesketh: This is Farrah Hesketh with Alfonso Garcia and on behalf of our furious partner, Boss Man Brayfield, thank you for joining us tonight, make sure to come back next month for QAW BattleBowl!

Love me some QAW!

I’m a little confused about Golden Goddesses and why the stables formed— have I missed something?

They were formed at the beginning of the company as training camps/alliances that people train with to give people different affiliations.

Rhonda Broughton, Susan Windham and Ida Lowsley versus The Continent

This match was another opportunity for the young dojo grads to be in the ring with experienced pros (and a youngster herself in Ventura). Jankovic was the general in this match, commanding her troops. The Continent were incredibly physical in this contest and they pushed the younger women around. Each of the dojo graduates had a couple of spots -- it was also clear that Lowsley really needs to get her stamina levels up --but the other two dojo graduates did the lions’ share of the work. Ultimately it was Jankovic and her K.O. Head Kick that got the victory.

In a decent match, The Continent (Zofia Jankovic, Serena Ventura and Jeri Behr) defeated Rhonda Broughton, Susan Windham and Ida Lowsley in 14:31 when Zofia Jankovic pinned Rhonda Broughton with a K.O. Head Kick.

In terms of in-ring work, Zofia Jankovic was head and shoulders above everyone else.

Aud Valkyrie versus “Candy Crusher” Chiyeko Kita

Kita made her debut last month and was unsuccessful against Jankovic. This month, she was against Aud Valkyrie in a very good match up that had a real blend of styles. Kita is a world-class wrestler and she continued to put that on display. Valkyrie was equally impressive in the back and forth match -- each woman was clearly trying to steal the show and they hit several big moves each before the Strong Head Kick got Kita the victory.

In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Chiyeko Kita defeated Aud Valkyrie in 11:48 by pinfall with a Strong Head Kick.

“The Mistress of the DDT” Steph Blake versus K.T. Devonshire ©

Blake and Devonshire wrestled a classic British technical style match here. While Blake is primarily known for being a brawler (and a damn good one at that) and Devonshire has made waves in Canadian with her high-flying, they didn’t strike or take to the air for almost eleven minutes of the match. It was hold for hold, counter for counter, technical wizardy that changed course when Devonshire headbutted Blake and Blake threw a European Uppercut that took Devonshire off of her feet. From here, the match got a little more strike heavy and Blake had the upper hand. She went for a Slingshot DDT, but as she bounced Devonshire up for the sling shot, Devonshire was able to break free and get a roll up. They were close enough to the ropes that Devonshire put her legs on it -- something the crowd did not like seeing in a match that was supposed to be Pure Wrestling!

In a decent match, K.T. Devonshire defeated Steph Blake in 18:06 by pinfall, illegally using the ropes for leverage. K.T. Devonshire makes defence number one of the GGOTR Pure Heart title.

Viper Squad versus The Dublin Gals ©

The top two teams in the company were in the ring with each other for the third time. The first time, the Dublin Gals won a tag team match, the second time was last month’s trios match where the Viper Squad was on the winning side. They took their time here and told a story that the Dublin Squad did everything in their power to keep from having to wrestle the Viper Squad straight up. Viper and Laurels were a step ahead of them the entire match and several times they looked like they had it won -- including Viper locking Blair in the Single Leg Boston Crab. She held it in for well over a minute before the bell rang because the time limit had expired.

In a decent match, Viper Squad drew with The Dublin Gals in 30:00 when the time limit expired.

“The Pain from the Ukraine” Karen Bilous versus “Red Queen” Thea Davis ©

Karen Bilous has been on a war path since losing the ladder match and she has found herself back in the ring with Thea Davis. The Red Queen was smart enough to know that she didn’t want to go head on against the strongest woman in all of Europe -- and the strongest woman in all of pro wrestling if we are being honest. Davis tried to use her speed to her advantage, but Bilous eventually got her hands on Davis and she punished her for most of the match. Davis was in real peril until she was able to create an opening and hit not one, but two superkicks that dropped Bilous and allowed Davis to hit the Flying Elbow Drop to retain her championship.

In a bout that had superb wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Thea Davis defeated Karen Bilous in 22:22 by pinfall with a Flying Elbow Drop. Thea Davis makes defence number three of the GGOTR Golden Crown title.

<strong>Garcia:</strong> Welcome fans of Women’s Wrestling from all around the world to Wichita, Kansas and QAW BattleBowl 2020! Alfonso Garcia here alongside the one, the only, Farrah Hesketh!</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> So excited to be here tonight,we’ve got a night full of great wrestling in store and of course, the 10 Woman Royal Rumble in the main event!</p><p>

<strong>Garcia:</strong> Not that I mind much, but we seem to be missing our third broadcast partner. Is it because he’s backstage with Anderson & Snyder?</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> Indeed, the Clenched Fist are set to wrestle in the first match of the night and let me tell you Alfonso, considering who their scheduled opponents are, I wouldn’t want to be in Ava Anderson or Lilly Snyder’s shoes tonight. Let’s take it to our ring announcer!</p><p> </p><p>

Alina America, Danielle Sweetheart & Black Diamond vs The Clenched Fist (Anderson, Snyder & Luck, with Boss Man Brayfield)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Action kicked off with a classic trios match, although the wrestling itself was far from the usual high flying lucha since all six women involved rarely take their feet off the mat for an offensive maneuver. Fans in Kansas seemed to enjoy this more old school southern wrasslin’ approach though, promptly cheering the faces and booing the heels throughout the match. Black Diamond was given the opportunity to learn from some of the biggest names on the QAW roster, even if that translated to mostly selling the heels’ offence, with Anderson & Snyder bringing their trademark smooth teamwork and double team moves. Danielle Sweetheart was, without a shadow of a doubt, the MVP for her team, if not the whole match, but the finish came from Alina America who hit the Southern Lights Bomb on youngling Felicia Luck for the pin.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: Alina America, Danielle Sweetheart & Black Diamond</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><span style="color:#2E8B57;">47</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Garcia:</strong> A show of authority from our American champion there, picking up momentum in light of her scheduled defense next month at QAW Starshow.</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> We know that match is happening, but we don’t know who her challenger will be. That spot is up for grabs later tonight as Pamela Rojo squares off against Emma May!</p><p>

<strong>Garcia:</strong> It’s an action packed night of lucha libre a go go and speaking of lucha, “The Mighty Atom” Izzy Quick has a match next against an opponent from south of the border, CILL’s very own Catalina Vasquez!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="8gDIWvl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8gDIWvl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p>

<strong>Catalina Vasquez vs Izzy Quick</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

If someone had removed the high flying part from the opening contest, they threw it into this match and then some! True to her last name, Izzy Quick stayed on the move to avoid her opponent and keep going while Vasquez introduced QAW fans to her usual lucha spots for a good pop, making for a match that felt very fluid and impressive, even if it wasn’t wrestled at top gear speed. In the end it all came down to precision and Vasquez was able to use her experience to trap her opponent in a surfboard stretch dead center of the ring, with The Mighty Atom vocally submitting for an unusual finish in comparison to how most of the match had unfolded up to that point.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Catalina Vasquez</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><span style="color:#2E8B57;">35</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Garcia:</strong> Catalina Vasquez gets the win and puts everyone on notice, she means business!</p><p>

<strong>Brayfield:</strong> Like you know anything about business, Alfonso.</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> Now now boys, don’t fight. Your business doesn’t seem to be blooming either, mr. Boss Man</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> Ma’am, I would advise you to mind your own business with Ronin 3 instead of commenting on other people’s business.</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh</strong> Oh that’s way past the point of business. It’s personal. And I’m about to handle it right now!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="8gDIWvl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8gDIWvl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p>

Farrah Hesketh stands up from the announcers’ booth and takes out her headset, then pics up a microphone.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> Ronin 3! I know you got beef with the Line and you sorted that out last month. You knocked them out of the race to become Queen of the Ring. You handled your issues the way we handle them in this business, between the ropes. I didn’t want to get involved, but you made this personal when you accused me of favoring Ashley Grover. So I want her and all of you to come out, right now, so I can say the next part to your face!</p><p> </p><p>

Ronin 3 come out first, accompanied as always by Vinny Cruz. Next out is Ashley Grover, on her own. The wrestlers enter the ring, while Cruz and Hesketh stay outside.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>LaRue:</strong> I want you to know how much I appreciate you doing this, Farrah. It’s not easy to bother with those beneath you when you’re the baddest bitch in this business, but I’m willing to look down and maybe accept your apology.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> If it’s an apology you were expecting, you’re in for a surprise. No, I called you out to respond to your accusations. You think I’m favouring Ashley there because I trained her? Well get ready to see what real favouritism looks like, because your little friends back there are just about to have a match against Ashley and…</p><p> </p><p>

Ashley Grover & Maria Guest vs Payback Inc.(with Vinny Cruz & Foxxy LaRue)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Maria Guest being another protege of Farrah Hesketh, she and Grover had some common ground on which to try and function as a team. Payback Inc. on the other hand may be the more regular team, but it’s Parissi who’s had experience as a tag wrestler with other partners and Barton is still learning how to fill in for her predecessors. This setup led to an exciting match that told the story of individuals trying to become teams, a race towards teamwork, in a way. What the rudos had on their side though was LaRue and Cruz at ringside, who provided all the necessary distractions, assists and sneak attacks to ensure their team would stay ahead. Referee Erin Lawrence did her best to officiate the match but there was just too much to keep an eye on, leading to a crucial spot where LaRue caught Guest with a Flash Head Kick outside the ring, knocking her out and forcing Grover to pretty much work the finale of the match alone. Fans tried to cheer the cowgirl on in hopes of a big upset, but the numbers game was just too much for Grover to overcome and Cruz caught her leg for a trip that allowed his girls to hit the Ronin Revenger for the pin.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: Payback Inc.</strong></p><p><strong>

Garcia:</strong> Ronin 3 steal another!</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> Damn it!</p><p>

<strong>Brayfield:</strong> Well well, looks like business isn’t exactly blooming for you either, Ms. Hesketh…</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="8gDIWvl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8gDIWvl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p>

Kate Lilly and Debbie Rose make their way to the ring with mics in hand and an unhappy look on their faces.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rose:</strong> Me and Kate here have something to say. Figured it’s best fitting to say it after a tag team match.</p><p>

<strong>Lilly:</strong> We know we got eliminated from your little tournament, but we also know we’re the best tag team in this damn business!</p><p>

<strong>Rose:</strong> Yeah, we don’t need your small time title belts!</p><p>

<strong>Lilly:</strong> That’s right Debbie, we’re the best duo in the world, so we want ourselves some real world titles! Next month is QAW Starshow, where every title is supposed to be on the line. Well we’re here to set up another match. Us versus the Chaos Connection, or whoever’s got the WWC World Tag Team titles until then. Give us that match and we’ll show you what a real championship match looks like!</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="color:#2E8B57;">36</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Garcia:</strong> Madre de Dios! Can you imagine such a match?</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> I can and I will do my best to make it happen.</p><p>

<strong>Brayfield:</strong> What?! That’s preposterous! These girls haven’t proven themselves, why not make it a three way and give Anderson & Snyder a chance too then?</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> Lilly & Rose have paid their dues, maybe not in QAW but they’ve proven themselves to be one of the best teams in the business, which is what got them a contract here in the first place. Anderson & Snyder lost their match tonight.</p><p>

<strong>Garcia:</strong> Opportunities earned in QAW and that’s what our next match is all about, a chance to wrestle for the American title as Pamela Rojo, who pinned Alina America, agreed to put her opportunity on the line against Emma May!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="8gDIWvl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8gDIWvl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p>

<img alt="Rz9AS02.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Rz9AS02.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="jSt5WGj.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/jSt5WGj.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

<strong>Emma May vs Pamela Rojo</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

This was another no-nonesense match, with two hard hitting competitors in it as May’s MMA style (it’s in the name, after all) clashed with the powerhouse approach of Rojo, who’s always heavy on the slams, takedowns and suplexes. The two women played up the stakes of the match as well as their styles’ similarities and differences, with Wichita fans clearly behind the oldschool brawler Rojo, even though some of the younger fans also seemed to be into May’s more modern approach. This storytelling aspect permeated the match from bell to bell and it climaxed into a spectacular finish when May caught Rojo in an armbar, center of the ring. Instead of escaping and too tired to lift her opponent up and slam her back first onto the mat, Rojo simply leaned into the hold. May yanked harder, thinking she was getting the best of her opponent, but little she had noticed in her excitement that her shoulders were now down on the mat, technically a pinning predicament that referee Erin Lawrence counted, giving the win to Rojo!</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Pamela Rojo</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><span style="color:#2E8B57;">41</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Exhausted but happy with her victory, Pamela Rojo signals for a microphone. For a moment, it’s only her panting onto the mic as she tries to catch her breath until she can talk.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rojo:</strong> Alina… I told you there’s no such thing as friends in this business. Especially when you’ve got the title, all you got is a big target on your back. I warned you. Now I’m coming for you and your belt. Nothing personal. No hard feelings. See you next month.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="color:#2E8B57;">46</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Garcia:</strong> You heard it folks, Pamela Rojo versus Alina America for the QAW American title, next month!</p><p>

<strong>Brayfield:</strong> Well, by my account, those two have a title match, Perez & Torres have a match against Punnen & Honey Badger for the tag titles, so…</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> That’s right, the winner of the BattleBowl always gets a shot at whichever title they choose, but that doesn’t mean a match for the Shockwave title. We might be seeing the winner insert themselves in the American title match, making it a triangle match!</p><p> </p><p>

Participants: Darkness Cat, Hellcat Hernandez, Honey Badger, Juana Huracan, Mariana Torres, Marie Punnen, Millie the Minx, Modesty Pador, Pinky Perez, Raquel Alvarado</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

All ten women started the match inside the ring, with eliminations only happening via pinfall or submission, instead of the usual “over the top” rules that would severely limit QAW’s lucha-heavy roster. As a result, several ladies quickly ended up fighting outside the ring or hitting planchas that eliminated several of their fellow competitors, all of which allowed a specific pairing to play out their part in the middle of the ring. The beginning was made with Torres & Perez locking horns against the QAW Tag Team champions, giving fans a sneak preview of what they can expect next month when these two teams meet. Meanwhile, Hellcat Hernandez and Juana Hurricane were slugging it out at ringside, while Darkness Cat finally responded to the invitation of Alvarado and Millie the Minx with a big double slap that set off their fight. Modesty Pador was the only “free agent” in the match and that played a part as she would get in some of the existing matchups to alter the dynamic. Her presence tipped the scales in the ongoing tag war, leading to the elimination of Torres first, then gradually Punnen, Perez and Honey Badger as well. Raquel Alvarado took advantage of the numbers game to take Darkness Cat out of the match, only for Pador to roll her from behind mid-celebration.</p><p> </p><p>

Just like that, it came down to the final four: Hellcat Hernandez, Juana Hurricane, Modesty Pador and Millie the Minx. Juana was finally able to put out Hernandez and it seemed to take a big weight off her shoulders, as she continued to go on a rampage to also eliminate Millie the Minx, but the damage and exhaustion eventually caught up to her and she found herself passing out while caught in Pador’s Crossface.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Modesty Pador</strong></p><p><strong>

As soon as the bell rings, Little Miss Perfect who apparently had been hiding in the crowd all this time, jumps the guardrail and hits Pador square in the face with the Shockwave title belt!</p><p>

<span style="color:#2E8B57;">30</span></p><p> </p><p>

Garcia:[/b] What a cheap shot!</p><p>

<strong>Brayfield:</strong> What a strategy! She’s weakening up her challenger in advance!</p><p>

<strong>Hesketh:</strong> I guess we do have a matchup for the QAW Shockwave title then. Make sure to join us again next month for QAW Starshow!</p><p> </p><p>

GGOTR Shine On

Friday Week 4, MY 2020

Held at Swansea in Wales

24 people in attendance, 4,201 viewers on the Women’s Wrestling Network

Broadcast Team: Ian Rosa & Anne Trenningham

XTaW8BM.jpggciDQ4l.jpg

Rosa, “Hello and welcome back to another exciting night of pro wrestling action here in Swansea. I’m Ian Rosa and I’m joined tonight, as always, by the first lady of British professional wrestling, Anne Trenningham. We are here to bring you Golden Goddesses of the Ring’s Shine On event. If you are watching this, you’re watching it on our exclusive broadcast partner -- the Women’s Wrestling Network. Anne, how are you this evening?”

Trenningham, “I’m brilliant, Ian. I’m absolutely ecstatic to be here for the best women’s wrestling on the Continent. No where else in Europe can you find this collection of talent wrestling to prove who is the best. So far, Golden Goddesses of the Ring has been dominated by All the Queen’s Women. With The Red Queen herself sitting at the top of the mountain here as the Golden Crown Champion. Tonight, she puts that championship on the line against another member of The Continent in Zofia Jankovic -- the Black Widow herself.”

Rosa, “This is something I’ve wanted to talk about for several months now. A lot of fans online have asked about the alliances here in Golden Goddesses of the Ring. Would you like to explain them, Anne?”

Trenningham, “Sure thing, Ian. Golden Goddesses of the Ring is built on the sport of pro wrestling. Pro wrestling is a combat sport, like boxing or kickboxing or mixed martial arts. In all of those other combat sports, you see fighters training with groups. Some groups are just training partners who want to help make each other better -- like The Continent. Other groups, like Strong Style Rising and [/i]The Dojo[/i] are made up of people who went to wrestling school together. They live together. They are focused on being the best and working together -- but they also aren’t afraid of wrestling one another if they have to. Then you have All the Queen’s Women, they do everything together. They travel together, live together, train together, and they work hard to make sure each of them dominates the sport. They don’t want to wrestle one another and they’ll go out of their way to help make sure the others stay on top.”

Rosa, “Thank you for that great analysis. Let’s get right to the action.”

Serena Ventura versus Geena the Warrior Princess

The opening bout pit the young German against the experienced American. Geena was violent and vicious and incredibly physical. Her forearm strikes echoed off the walls of the building and Ventura sold her ass off for the veteran. Geena can’t move like she used to be able to, but she’s still incredibly scary in her Amazonian get up and she controlled the match. Several times she looked like she had the match won before Ventura mounted a big come back and ended up hitting a Fisherman’s Suplex that she kept the bridge and got the pinfall victory.

In a decent match, Serena Ventura defeated Geena The Warrior Princess in 13:05 by pinfall with a Fisherman's Suplex.

Aki Kamio & Yayoi Kurmochi versus Viper Squad

The young duo representing Strong Style Rising were in a heck of a battle against the Viper Squad. Viper McKenna is nearing retirement and after the draw last month, McKenna did her damnedest to try and get a big win here so that she and her young protege could get one more opportunity at tag gold. Strong Style Rising worked really well together and Kamio and Kurmochi could have a big future as a tag team. They had some slick double team spots, including an assisted standing moonsault. Maise Laurels had a couple of good spots where she looked like a future star, but in the end, a Flying Leg Lariat from Kamio to McKenna got Strong Style Rising the victory.

In a decent match, Aki Kamio and Yayoi Kurmochi defeated Viper Squad in 13:09 when Aki Kamio pinned Viper McKenna with a Flying Leg Lariat.

In terms of in-ring work, Viper McKenna was head and shoulders above everyone else.

Spider Isako versus “The Pain from the Ukraine” Karen Bilous

Bilous was coming fresh off of her loss to the champion last month and was up against the bright prospect from Japan, Spider Isako. Isako has looked good so far in her outings and this was easily the biggest test of her young career. Bilous has mentioned in an interview that she is about ready to call it a career and the strongest woman in Europe made sure that she made Isako look incredibly lethal in this contest. Bilous threw the younger women around, but Isako was able to fight through all the power spots with a barrage of heavy strikes. Bilous thighs were bright red from the impact of Isako’s kicks on them and Isako hit a beautiful Jumping Knee Strike that turned Bilous inside out and got the young woman a huge victory.

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Spider Isako defeated Karen Bilous in 12:14 by pinfall with a Jumping Knee Strike.

The San Diego Girls versus Jeri Behr & Aud Valkyrie

It was announced before the match that The San Diego Girls, Coco Malloy and Izzy Quick, had joined the GGOTR roster on excursion from Queens of American Wrestling. The young duo had their hands full with the veteran members of the Continent (though internet rumor is that both Behr and Valkyrie plan to hang up the boots in three months time). Behr and Valkryie controlled most of the match and Malloy and Quick took turns selling. It is clear that the American duo has a lot of potential and a lot of upside despite being so young. Behr hit a beautiful second rope moonsault onto a standing Quick that got a near fall, but Izzy was able to dig down deep and kick out just before the three count. Malloy and Quick hit a beautiful double team combo where Malloy used Quick’s leg to boost herself for a big headscissors. Quick was able to hit Valkyrie with a Super Rana -- a huricanranna from the top rope that got the San Diego Girls their first win in Europe!

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, The San Diego Girls defeated Jeri Behr and Aud Valkyrie in 17:49 when Izzy Quick pinned Aud Valkyrie with a Super Rana.

“The Black Widow” Zofia Jankovic versus “The Red Queen” Thea Davis ©

The main event of the evening pit two women against one another that are definitely not strangers to each other. They’re the two top women’s wrestlers in EWA and have had many battles against one another -- this was just another chapter in their storied rivalry over who the best female wrestler in Europe actually is. The two women took their time. They were able to showcase their knowledge of one another. The first several minutes were spent going hold-for-hold. Each woman knew the other so well that neither was able to gain an advantage for several minutes until Jankovic was able to catch Davis with an elbow right above her eye that busted her open. It wasn’t a crimson mask by any means, but it was a legitimate cut that Davis had to work around. Jankovic saw the blood and focus her attack on it. She threw several big knees at it that looked like it opened the cut up more and several times senior GGOTR official Humphrey Woolsey checked on the cut to see if he felt Davis could continue. He never stopped the match and the two women tore the house down. The fans were really into everything they did -- including a great sequence where Jankovic hit a Spinning Back Fist, followed by a Bicycle kick, followed by a release German that a bloodied Davis immediately got up from -- showing the fighting spirit she has been mastering in 5SSW. Davis hit a superkick, then a second superkick, then a running knee and it was Jankovic’s turn to pop back up but she immediately got caught with a third superkick that set up the Flying Elbow Drop and Davis got her fourth successful title defense.

In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Thea Davis defeated Zofia Jankovic in 35:49 by pinfall with a Flying Elbow Drop. Thea Davis makes defence number four of the GGOTR Golden Crown title.

<p>I've just binge read through these and this is certainly a must follow for me, I have always very much liked the women's wrestling side of things and seeing my favourite feds in this database along with some new ones with a few wrestlers that I am also looking at using in a save or two makes for a good time. I am also all in on an alliance and crossbrand titles in general, I always felt it a shame that there was only the COTT making use of that.</p><p> </p><p>

The only drawback for me will be trying not to come too close to copying the QAW stuff in my own game.</p>

Catalina Vazquez, who is also wrestling in CILL like Darkness Cat, brought her high flying style to perfectly complement her teammate, as well as her good girl persona that made her a perfect foil for their bitchy rudo opponents. There was a particular spot where Alvarado was slapping and verbally insulting Vazquez in a corner, that looked like a scene straight out of a Mexican telenovela. A classic lucha contest where the tecnicos kept the pace up with athletic aerial moves while the rudos interrupted them and brought the pace down with strikes and holds, this one culminated in Millie the Minx distracting the ref so that Alvarado could pull a big diamond ring out of her gear and put it on her finger for a nasty punch that cut across the face of Vazquez, before slipping into a Mexican Stretch that forced the popular babyface to tap out.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: Raquel Alvarado & Millie the Minx</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="color:#F4A460;">39</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Garcia:</strong> This is a travesty! Modesty Pador kept kicking out though and after the third near fall, she forced her opponent to take her more seriously. Without ever slowing the pace down, Little Miss Perfect switched her approach and proceeded to showcase her dominance by trying to outwrestle the challenger with her big moves, but Pador was more than up to the task and able to keep up, to the point where she almost won the match outright, had the champion not kicked out just inches before the referee’s hand hit the mat for a third time. Frustrated and almost taking that near fall as a personal offense, Little Miss Perfect eased back on pulling off big moves and instead sought to beat, punish and humiliate Pador for her audacity. Again, the challenger was more or less able to keep up but by that point Little Miss Perfect was so unhinged she wasn’t shy about taking a few shortcuts like pulling Pador’s hair or raking her eyes if it meant she’d be able to get back in control of the match and it was this tactic that allowed her to capture the challenger in a Newton’s Cradle for the pin after fifteen action packed minutes in their match.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Little Miss Perfect (Defenses: 2)</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="color:#F4A460;">34</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Garcia:</strong> Little Miss Perfect retains her title, but she certainly had to work harder than she expected for it.</p><p> <strong>Brayfield:</strong> They don’t call her that by accident. The Queen of Hearts appears to be in the backstage interview area, the simplicity of the scenery around her allowing fans to focus better on her message instead.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Sweetheart:</strong> The time of the year is almost upon us. Next month, Queen of the Ring. Biggest event on the QAW calendar. A tournament I’ve won on four different occasions. It’s a big deal on its own, but an even bigger deal for me personally. That tournament defines me as a competitor. And this year, it’s going to be harder than ever. I know I’ve got Emma May and the Furies on my trail. I’ve tried to convince Pamela Rojo to join forces with me, to no avail. And since the winner of the tournament gets to wrestle the QAW American champion for the title, I know I can’t depend on Alina America. So I’m entering this year’s tournament with no friends but quite a few enemies. It’s going to be a big challenge, but I welcome it. The deck is stacked against me, but when it comes to who’s Queen of the Ring, never bet against…</p><p> </p><p> Sweetheart produces a playing card from somewhere outside the camera frame and holds it up.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="png-clipart-queen-of-hearts-playing-card-king-playing-cards-queen-of-hearts-playing-card-king-hearts-thumbnail.png" data-src="https://e7.pngegg.com/pngimages/160/725/png-clipart-queen-of-hearts-playing-card-king-playing-cards-queen-of-hearts-playing-card-king-hearts-thumbnail.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> <img alt="8gDIWvl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8gDIWvl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="kDk2RrF.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kDk2RrF.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="kDk2RrF.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kDk2RrF.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong>QAW Tag Team titles match</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="MLoko29.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/MLoko29.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="wLluu6a.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/wLluu6a.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="iuOMLaj.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/iuOMLaj.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="HZg4vpW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/HZg4vpW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> The Rage (Marie Punnen & Honey Badger) © vs Pinky Perez & Mariana Torres</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> This was another match wrestled at breakneck pace, though it lacked its predecessor’s sense of urgency and instead was all about athleticism. Punnen’s precise kicks were up against the submission style of Torres and the Mexican competitor seemed more than willing to take a few blows if it meant she could close in and shoot for one of Punnen’s legs for a takedown. After a few kicks too many that led to Torres hooking a leg and getting to work, Punnen tagged in her partner. Much larger and way more powerful, Honey Badger proved a much harder task for Torres who failed to move her around, only for Badger to scoop her up for a huge slam. A hasty retreat brought Perez into the match and the masked luchadora went all out with the high risk, high reward moves in an attempt to take down her opponent. Unfortunately, most of these moves were blown bigtime and the Rage picked up on that like a shark smelling blood in the water. Perez took a beating from both Punnen and Honey Badger but proved nimble enough to make an escape to tag in Torres, bringing the match around to its start with Punnen as the legal one for her team. Now facing a more tired opponent, Torres was able to apply the Venus Fly-Trap but Punnen made it to the ropes for a break. What she did not notice though was that she was dangerously close to the challengers’ corner and it only took a quick tag to Perez, who rushed in with a shotgun dropkick on Honey Badger to knock her off the apron before rushing back to pick Punnen up for a Pink Butterfly Powerbomb and the three count.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners AND NEW QAW Tag Team champions: Pinky Perez & Mariana Torres</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="color:#2E8B57;">46</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Garcia:</strong> They did it! The two groups played up to that story and their respective characters, with the Clenched Fist being the ruthless, hard hitting rudos who delighted in dishing out pain while Tex-Mex and Guest sold their butts off for them as they took the beating and drew in the crowd’s sympathy. Ashley Grover, the legitimately tough cowgirl from Texas, spent a tantalizingly long time on the sidelines, desperately waiting for the hot tag but once she finally got it, she ran wild on all four of her opponents and cleaned house before hitting Felicia Luck with a Chicago Hope for the win.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: The Line (Ashley Grover, Houston Handley, Teresa Perez and Maria Guest)</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="color:#2E8B57;">47</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Garcia:</strong> Big win for the Line and a sense of redemption in it, given what they’ve been going through lately, especially after they lost the right to be in next month’s Queen of the Ring tournament.</p><p> <strong>Hesketh:</strong> Alright, brace yourself, here comes Boss Man Brayfield to resume his seat next to us and he is not going to be in a good mood.</p><p> <strong>Garcia:</strong> I know I’m in a great mood and so are our fans because we have a double main event coming up, with the QAW World and WWC World Tag Team titles on the line!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="8gDIWvl.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8gDIWvl.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> <img alt="OhWlYF4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OhWlYF4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong>QAW World title match</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="8zMPmbk.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8zMPmbk.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="jSt5WGj.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/jSt5WGj.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> Alina America © vs Pamela Rojo</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> There was no rushing this match. Both champion and challenger knew this was not going to be easy and it was certainly not going to be a quick one. After circling the ring and riling up fans, the two finally collided when America hit the ropes but Rojo didn’t move a single step upon impact. As if to add an exclamation point to her power advantage in this fight, she picked up a stunned Alina America and threw her over her head with a suplex. She did not follow up with a cover attempt though. She knew she needed to break the champion down first and that’s exactly what she did, working patiently, methodically and with ruthless efficiency to break Alina America’s body as well as her spirit. The champion was able to offer some resistance but the damage was clearly beginning to pile up on her, so she tried a different approach and switched to technical wrestling. Primarily a brawler, Rojo proved surprisingly competent in this aspect and put on some impressive chain wrestling to once again turn the tide in her favor and go for the first pin attempt of the match. America got a shoulder up, but that was only the start of her troubles as Rojo tossed her outside the ring in order to rough her up, a tactic not often seen in QAW matches. America got scooped up and Rojo picked up some steam, but instead of delivering her Running Powerslam finisher, she just slammed the champion spine first onto the barricade. After that, she bullied a front row audience member out of their seat and picked up their seat, which she folded and raised up. Referee Erin Lawrence got in her way and tried to pull the chair out of Rojo’s hands, but she got a kick in the gut for her effort, then, folded over as she was, received a chair shot to the back that laid her out. With a nasty smirk on her face, Rojo laid it into the fallen Alina America a few more times, until Farrah Hesketh finally left the announcers’ table to face her. The two women exchanged some words, but Rojo never lost her grin. She was well aware that such a high profile match would not be ending on a DQ and indeed, with Erin Lawrence still reeling from the blow, Farrah Hesketh took over as a referee herself, ordering Rojo to take this back into the ring. Still, the argument had bought Alina America enough time to recover and she fought back, hitting Rojo with a few strikes before hopping onto the barricade for a slick moonsault on her opponent. Rojo realized she’d lost control of the match and crawled back into the ring, but America was feeling it and she didn’t stop. First a legdrop on the apron, then a slingshot back into the ring as she splashed onto Rojo, America was feeling it now. She was on a roll. Rojo just managed to catch her and block a crossbody, but her powerslam was rolled through into a pin for a two count. Rojo kicked out, only to get caught with a baseball dropkick to the head as she was trying to stand back up. Riling up the fans in one last big push of support, America signalled this was over. Southern Lights Bomb connected and Farrah Hesketh dropped to her knees for the count. Chaos Connection have been huge in Japan with 5SSW and they were in attendance, the first time ever any WWC titles were to be defended in a QAW show. Lilly and Rose had the track record to feel like legitimate challengers, like they really had a chance here. Like the match could go either way. That was exactly how it played out, an extremely competitive match that showcased every participant's strong points as it built up the drama, escalated the tension and drew fans in. The opening ten or so minutes were more or less scouting, with each team testing the other as they sought for weak points to exploit, since neither of them regularly square off to have that familiarity. After that, it was a constant stream of bigger and bigger moves, both individually and double team maneuvers. Jippensha proved she has the technical chops to deserve her nickname as the "Excellence of Execution" and Saitoh had tons of heart and fighting spirit on display with her never-say-die attitude that kept the match going, while Lilly and Rose tried to make the best of their experience together as a unit. It took a full half hour for the match to reach its climax, but once Rose hit the Thorn Cutter on Saitoh, there was a collective rejoicing in the three count as Lilly & Rose got the win to become the new WWC World Tag Team champions.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners AND NEW WWC World Tag Team champions: Lilly & Rose</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="color:#2E8B57;">64</span></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Show Rating</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="color:#2E8B57;">58</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="48892" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong>Author's Note:</strong> This diary has been on a bit of a de facto hold, both due to our other diary projects as well as taking the time out to figure whether Historian would be posting results from other promotions or I'd post my show. Golden Goddesses of the Ring is preparing for it's summer series, the Road to Immortality, which will see four shows as apart of the series and will culminate in August at the Hail to the Queen event where the first Usurper to the Crown champion will be, well, crowned.

The Usurper to the Crown will be decided in a ten-woman round-robin tournament that will feature women from all over the world. The entrants in the tournament are listed below.

M94TRMj.png?1

The shows will be broadcast on the Women's Wrestling Network and should be one of the most exciting series in pro wrestling.

A/N: The posting order will be slightly different for the next few shows, as GGOTR will have multiple shows before QAW has one as GGOTR enters the series. I wanted to make sure you were all aware so you didn't think we accidentally skipped over DarK_RaideR's shows

QAW Crowning the Queen XI

Date: Fri W3 Jul 2020

Location: Houston, TX

Attendance: 603, Viewers: 14.977

qdR2xLL.jpg

Garcia: Ladies and gentlemen, fans of women’s wrestling around the world, welcome to our biggest show of the year live on the Women’s Wrestling Network, QAW Crowning the Queen! I’m Alfonso Garcia flying solo for now, as Farrah Hesketh is in the ring sporting the striped shirt while Boss Man Brayfield will be accompanying one of the teams in the opening match, but they will soon be joining me to call the action for the rest of the show. As always, he have a ton of action packed for you, a great match as Lilly & Rose defend their recently won WWC World Tag Team champions against the QAW veteran team that is Tex-Mex and of course, our grand Queen of the Ring tournament!

The Rage vs Perez & Torres vs Payback Inc vs Anderson & Snyder

Show kicked off with a four corners tag elimination match, a showcase of QAW’s tag team division in a night dominated by a singles tournament. Current and former title holders were in this, alongside the champions’ ongoing rivals Anderson & Snyder and the ever dangerous presence of Ronin 3 in the form of Payback Inc. The action was slow at first, giving fans and Alfonso Garcia alike the time and various matchups to establish the ongoing rivalries in this match. The Rage were the first team to be eliminated, with Marie Punnen taking a combined spinning back fist/leg sweep from Payback Inc for the pin, while Honey Badger was caught up chasing the sleazy Vinny Cruz around the ring. This cleared up the ring a bit, allowing Perez to hit some of her high flying lucha moves and get the fans going, but it ultimately backfired when she missed a dive and came up empty. Snyder jumped on the chance to eliminate the champions as Anderson hit a lariat on Torres on the apron to knock her out to ringside, bringing it down to Payback Inc. versus Anderson & Snyder. Barton and Parissi brought the brawling against their opponents’ technical genius and southern toughness for a pretty exciting finish, the end of which saw Parissi hit a swinging neckbreaker for the pin. Vinny Cruz joined them in the ring and celebrated like they’d just won the WWC World Tag Team titles, though he may not be far off as Parissi and Barton did the universal “title belt” gesture around their waists after the match, signalling they may be gunning for the titles of Perez & Torres after this victory.

Winners: Payback Inc.

As the teams returned backstage while Hesketh and Brayfield resumed their positions on the announcers’ desk, a pre-taped message from Foxxy LaRue aired.

LaRue: Tonight, I enter the Queen of the Ring tournament representing Ronin 3, but make no mistake, this is personal for me. Alina America stole my QAW World title and I’m gonna take it back. Step one is becoming Queen of the Ring tonight and securing a title shot. Once that’s done, I’m cashing in and reclaiming my gold. I got Vinny-man by my side, Ronin 3 to watch my back and I’m in it to win it, ‘cause I’m the baddest bitch in this business, baby!

59

Garcia: Strong words from the leader of Ronin 3 there, she lacks neither the skill nor the confidence, what do you think her odds are for winning the tournament tonight, Farrah?

Hesketh: I think it’s going to be a long night of hard work for all participants, the competition is intense and on top of our QAW elites, we have a few wildcards like Catalina Vazquez who has been quite impressive in her short time with us or K.T. Devonshire all the way over from the UK, courtesy of our partners over there, Golden Goddesses of the Ring.

Brayfield: I’m rooting for Hellcat Hernandez in this one, I am. She’s tough, she’s rough and, mark my words, she’s a future world champion.

Alina America, Ashley Grover & Maria Guest vs Little Miss Perfect, Raquel Alvarado & Millie the Minx

Going back to QAW’s lucha roots, this classic trios match was all action and very clear alignments, as three clean cut tecnicos took on three vile rudos. Maria Guest was very consistent from start to finish and Ashley Grover made the best out of her opportunity to be in this show after a loss to Ronin 3 prevented any members of The Line from participating in this year’s tournament. Both proved why Farrah Hesketh decided to mentor them and they even gave her a shout-out by pulling off a few of her signature moves, though Guest especially seemed to strike a chord with the audience, whether it was her happy go lucky antics while on offense or her underdog charm while getting beat up. Alvarado and Millie were quick to exploit that fact, using a mix of cheating, double teams and brutal brawling to garner heat from the fans. Little Miss Perfect looked like a perfect compliment to the duet, her youthful cockiness matching that of her teammates as did her tactics when she blind tagged herself in to score the pin on what she considered easy prey, only for Guest to somehow kick out at two. The QAW Shockwave champion continued to apply pressure on Guest with submission holds, but a rope break close to the tecnico corner allowed a tag to America, setting up a champion versus champion matchup, much to the audience’s roaring approval. Unwilling to square off with the top lady and potentially lose face, Little Miss Perfect retreated to tag in Millie the Minx to a hail of boos, showing a great heel mind by also depriving them of a promised exciting pairing. Millie ran in guns blazing but was easy pickings for the QAW World champion who was rested and unharmed so far, making short work of her opponent before tagging in Grover who hit a series of moves to set up her Chicago Hope finisher for the pin.

Winners: Alina America, Ashley Grover & Maria Guest

46

Garcia: Much needed win for Ashley Grover, she must be very frustrated that she can’t be in this year’s Queen of the Ring tournament.

Brayfield: Well she lost that right, fair and square. She took a chance and it didn’t pan out. When you gamble, you’re always accepting the risk of a potential loss.

Hesketh: I like what I saw from all six luchadoras and I’ll agree with your assessment Alfonso, this does have a redemptive feel to it for Ashley Grover.

Rz9AS02.jpg

Another pre-taped promo aired next, this time from the leader of The Furies, Emma May.

May: It’s been a couple of months since my last match and that gave me the time to contemplate. Last time I was in a QAW ring, I lost to Pamela Rojo. Don’t get me wrong, she’s a great wrestler. She’s been around for a long time. She’s won everything there is to win, except for the World title. I respect her, but I have to be realistic. The only reason she beat me was because I got carried away. I got too caught up chasing a submission. This will not happen again. I am focused and I am coming into the tournament with my eyes set on becoming Queen of the Ring. I know Rojo’s gonna be in it too, so if we meet again, I’ll be happy to even the score. If not, I’ll still shoot for the top regardless. So girls in my bracket, you better watch out!

60

Garcia: Sounds like Emma May learned her lesson, truth is she’ll be one of the fresher competitors in the tournament, she’s had the time to rest and heal up.

Brayfield: It’s an exhausting tournament, the finalists end up having wrestled three matches in a single night and the damage will pile up. That’s a big advantage she’s got coming into tonight.

Hesketh: You are both correct, she’s rested and she’s upped her smarts, I’m sure she’ll be a very dangerous competitor and even if she doesn’t win, whoever manages to go through her will go on having paid a terrible price, courtesy of her killer MMA style.

WWC World Tag Team titles match

xUczrgK.jpgiOzT7Xu.jpg25UZG0h.pngahYsJps.jpgjcZ0JC6.jpg

Lilly & Rose © vs Tex-Mex

Wrapping up the first part of the show before the tournament singles matches, Kate Lilly and Debbie Rose put their recently won WWC World Tag Team titles on the line against two time QAW Tag Team champions, Tex-Mex in what turned out to be an early candidate for match of the night, nearly stealing the show outright. With both teams being athletic and well versed in working in tandem, they made the best use of it to deliver some spectacular moments, like the one where Perez hopped off the top turnbuckle, used her bent over partner as a stepping stone and delivered a long range dropkick across the ring square in Rose’s jaw. The champions were no slouches either and the shot of them swan diving over the top rop in a double tope suicida to the outside is bound to feature in magazines, promo shots and video packages for quite some time. There was walking the top rope, there were all the usual lucha flips and rolls and arm drags, a super rana off the turnbuckles from Lilly and after a spectacular ten minute match, Debbie Rose hit the Thorn Cutter on Teresa Perez to score her team’s first successful title defense.

Winners: Lilly & Rose (Defenses: 1)

54

Garcia: What a match! Lilly & Rose deliver a true world caliber championship performance but take nothing away from Tex-Mex who were able to keep up like this!

Hesketh: I’m just proud to have both teams on the QAW roster and listen to these fans cheering for both these teams, that’s what it’s all about at the end of the day.

Brayfield: That’s all nice, but the show’s called Queen of the Ring and that’s what we’re here for so let’s get these matches going!

8gDIWvl.jpg

qpoUofG.jpg

Unlike the other tournament competitors earlier, Danielle Sweetheart made her entrance and delivered her promo in person while inside the ring.

Sweetheart: I said it last month, I’ll say it again. QAW is full of factions and gangs and alliances of all sorts. It’s a complicated thing to navigate. I’m entering this year’s tournament on my own, with no one to fall back to. No one to watch my back. But that’s fine. And it’s not because I failed at the backstage politics game. It’s because I don’t play that game. I’m a wrestler, not a politician or diplomat. This is a wrestling ring, it’s neither a political convention, nor some back alley for gangs to square off. So I’m playing it straight, but I’m also issuing a challenge to all my fellow participants. Keep your friends out of these matches. Stick to the wrestling. Let’s give these fans the best tournament we can because that’s what they deserve!

65

Garcia: Danielle Sweetheart is in the house! This is her tournament and these are her fans, listen to them chant her name and the match hasn’t even started!

Hesketh: She’s not afraid to speak her mind and she’s out here to play it straight. She expects her opponents to do the same.

Brayfield: What are you talking about?! This is war! If you have allies, you don’t tell them to keep their troops at home! It’s foolish to not use what you’ve got and I, for one, am seeing right through that woman’s mind games!

Queen of the Ring Quarterfinal match

Danielle Sweetheart vs K.T. Devonshire

Devonshire represented GGOTR and their “All the Queen’s Women” faction in the tournament, but none of it mattered because as soon as she made her entrance, because as soon as her music played and she came out, all the fans could see was a Russian character. Whipped into a frenzy as they were from Sweetheart’s promo earlier, they flew into a “USA” chant, thrusting this match all the way back to how wrestling was in the 80s. Playing it by ear, Sweetheart went with the crowd and hammed up her patriotism as she got to work on her opponent, before Devonshire went full sneaky heel to poke her eye and gain control of the match. Still mostly unknown to the audience, Devonshire did not overstay her welcome and Sweetheart made her comeback to hit a Superkick and wrap this up at just five and a half minutes total.

Winner: Danielle Sweetheart

47

Garcia: Well Sweetheart was the favourite to win here, but props to K.T. Devonshire for even getting inside the ring with a legitimate QAW legend!

Brayfield: That commie never stood a chance.

Hesketh: Danielle Sweetheart advances and she’ll be waiting to find out who her next opponent will be, when Foxxy LaRue faces off against Pamela Rojo but for now, we’ve got Emma May taking on another wildcard in the tournament, CILL’s standout export, Catalina Vazquez!

Queen of the Ring Quarterfinal match

Catalina Vazquez vs Emma May

Vazquez hit the ground running, doing her absolute best to impose a fast pace in this match and keep things moving. Well aware that she had to avoid her opponent’s strikes and mat game, the Mexican star used her graceful lucha libre style for some hit and run tactics as well as some big moves that popped the crowd. May took the blows and seemed to pace herself, looking for an opening in her opponent’s game plan that she could exploit, much like a tiger or leopard patiently waits for the opportune moment to jump at their prey. Vazquez got most of the offense and a cheering approval from the fans, looking good until May made her move, springing like a coiled viper to shoot for her opponent’s leg and take her to the mat. Seconds later, she had the Heel Hook locked in and Vazquez immediately tapped from the intense pain, a quick and frighteningly efficient win for Emma May who advanced to the Semifinal.

Winner: Emma May

50

Garcia: That’s all Emma May needed, give her a chance and she’ll tap you out, that was several minutes before the ten minute mark.

Hesketh: Seven thirty eight is the official time in this match, swift win for May but kudos to Vazquez for a stunning performance.

Brayfield: Stunning or not, it’s May who advances and that’s all that matters: Winning!

Queen of the Ring Quarterfinal match

Cy1Fa5L.jpg25UZG0h.pngG79LIV1.jpg

Hellcat Hernandez vs Juana Hurricane

Given the history between the leaders of The Furies and Storm Front, this was an extremely personal match and it showed in the intensity on display. Hernandez brought her street savvy wild brawling and did not hold back, with Hurricane responding with a mix of stiff strikes. The opening exchange led to a suplex competition, with plenty of counters and standing switches as the two women dropped each other on their necks.

QDYVc7S.jpg

The stalemate was broken by the appearance of Felicia Luck, who made her presence known at ringside, initially in an attempt to distract Hernandez while openly raising her hands to claim innocence and deflect the scrutiny of referee Dwight Kumas. Of course, this wasn’t meant to last and as soon as she had a chance, Felicia Luck took it and grabbed Hurricane’s hair to slam her head against the steel ring post.

oJx3Y3w.jpgDot0cid.jpg

Sonnaz Shah came out to throw herself in the mix and brawl outside the ring with Luck, but it was the shocking return of Alexis Lee Littlefeather that really turned the tide. The Native American veteran, who hadn’t been seen since she passed out in a chokehold by Hellcat Hernandez at American Lucha back in March, got a hero’s return as fans cheered her on with “welcome back” chants. Trying to assert his authority, the referee implored all the non-participants to return backstage but for his troubles, he was rewarded with a superkick to the back of the head by Hellcat Hernandez. Hurricane had numbers on her side now and with the ref out, Littlefeather had her chance at revenge but she opted out of it, garnering more cheers from the fans as she backed away from a helpless Hernandez. Hurricane jumped at the opportunity to slap on the Times-Square Lock and Hernandez tapped out alright, but the ref was still out and the match would go on. Frustrated, Farrah Hesketh jumped in the ring and took over as referee, banning all outsiders from the match and setting up a clean stage for the final exchange, in which Hurricane reversed her opponent’s attempt at a finisher back into the Times-Square Lock. This time Hernanez fought it but couldn’t do so for too long. Hurricane won via submission and Storm Front got their redemption for all the trouble the Clenched Fist had given them.

Winner: Juana Hurricane

51

Garcia: Superb match, Hurricane takes this one and advances to the semifinals!

Brayfield: That’s cheating! Farrah Hesketh can’t take over as a ref whenever she feels like it!

Garcia: Well now we have one pair of the semifinals locked down, it’ll be Juana Hurricane versus Emma May, let’s find out whether Danielle Sweetheart will be facing Pamela Rojo or Foxxy LaRue next!

Queen of the Ring Quarterfinal match

Pamela Rojo vs Foxxy LaRue (with Vinny Cruz)

Rojo came into this match fresh off a big loss in a title match against Alina America, but as the announcing trio pointed out -and it took them a second to figure this out- LaRue’s last match was back in April, when Ronin 3 beat The Line in a trios match where the losers would not be taking part in the Queen of the Ring tournament. Despite having a clear edge, LaRue fell victim to her own overconfidence, underestimating her opponent and talking trash she would pay by losing control of the match and, more often than not, get suplexed to the mat. Rojo was foaming at the mouth, gunning for a big win that would help her bounce back from her loss to Alina America but Vinny Cruz was yet again there for his trio, distracting the referee or putting LaRue’s foot on the ropes to interrupt a pinning predicament. Eventually, he got under the skin of Rojo who grabbed the lapels of his suit and treated him to a headbutt that popped the crowd, but this only made things easier for LaRue to deliver the Flash Head Kick and steal the match.

Winner: Foxxy LaRue

54

Garcia: LaRue advances in typical Ronin 3 fashion… She’s such a great wrestler, I just don’t know why she keeps resorting to such cheap actions.

Brayfield: Because they bring her victory, that’s why. Honor is for losers, Alfonso. You wouldn’t know what it takes to make a true champion.

Hesketh: Well that ends the quarterfinal stage, LaRue better run back to the locker room and get some rest in light of her clash with Danielle Sweetheart. Meanwhile, the first pair of that phase is up next as Juana Hurricane takes on Emma May!

Emma May vs Juana Hurricane

Both women bore the scars of their earlier battles, so there was little running around or flying about in this match. May’s stiff strikes and submission holds were up against Hurricane’s wide array of slams and suplexes in what turned out to be a pretty exciting contest, a game of chicken between two unyielding personalities. Plenty of chain wrestling on display with holds, counterholds and reversals, including the finish where May attempted another Heel Hook, Hurricane countered in an attempt to set up the Times-Square Lock but eventually ending up trapped in a Triangle Choke she tapped out to, sending Emma May to the tournament finals.

Winner: Emma May

Garcia: May wins it! She will be in the finals!

Hesketh: She has never been crowned Queen of the Ring or won the QAW World title, this is her big chance and imagine what must be going through her head right now.

Brayfield: I’ll tell you what’s going through her head, resting and healing up as she prepares for her last match. Whether she faces Sweetheart or LaRue, it’s going to be a tough match and she needs to focus on that instead of daydreaming like you two.

Danielle Sweetheart vs Foxxy LaRue (with Vinny Cruz)

Probably the longest and best match of the show, this one almost hit the fifteen minute mark as Sweetheart and LaRue squared off in an epic battle. Having clearly seen what transpired earlier, referee Erin Lawrence was quick to eject Vinny Cruz as soon as he made his first move, sending him backstage to keep this clean, something fans wholeheartedly approved judging by their reaction. This removal allowed the match to focus on actual wrestling and highlight both competitors’ skills, although alas, it was not meant to be for too long.

NuLYzbD.jpgX7aUwGm.jpg

Even if Vinny Cruz wasn’t around to help, Becca Barton and Toni Parissi stepped up to assist the leader of Ronin 3, which they did in a pretty creative fashion: one would catch the eye of the ref, allowing the other to interfere with the match undetected. Their plan eventually fell apart though when Sweetheart figured it out and superkicked Barton off the apron. Without her teammate to provide cover, Parissi could not get involved in the match as easily and get away with it. Still, she made the best of her presence to distract Sweetheart, allowing LaRue to pull off a Flash Head Kick, which Sweetheart somehow kicked out of! Shocked, LaRue went twice to the well with a second attempt, but this time Sweetheart burst into action with a surge of adrenaline and was able to intercept the move with a superkick of her own that knocked LaRue out for the three count.

Winner: Danielle Sweetheart

Garcia: Sweetheart wins against the odds and QAW fans are going absolutely crazy!

Brayfield: That was pure luck, if you ask me.

Hesketh: And here comes Emma May running to the ring, she wants to get this match started before Sweetheart can pull herself back together!

Danielle Sweetheart vs Emma May

May’s plan actually made sense, since her matches through the night were shorter and she’d taken less damage in comparison. This had her in full control and taking her time to pick Sweetheart apart with clinical precision, using MMA ruthlessness but at a slower, more tormenting pro wrestling pace. Sweetheart screamed her lungs out with every submission and more than once, May was all too happy to shut her up with a stiff kick to the head. It was after blocking one of those kicks and pulling the leg to whip May to the mat that Sweetheart got a comeback. Every move she hit felt urgent as well as desperate, because she also looked like it took a heavy toll on her to do so. Partially true due to her accrued damage, this also helped garner sympathy from the fans who truly wanted to see her push through and pull an upset against the odds. May would, of course, shoot that down as soon as she was able to exploit her opponent’s exhaustion, blocking a superkick and taking her to the mat for the Heel Hook, which Sweetheart barely managed to slide out of before it was locked in for good. The two women reset, May giving a nod of grudging respect to her opponent’s toughness before they locked up again. Sweetheart got control into a side headlock, but her offense was soon reversed and she found herself on the mat, trapped in May’s Triangle Choke. Too spent to escape or reverse it, Sweetheart showed great ring awareness by managing to get a foot on the ropes and force a break. The two reset once more, this time Sweetheart exploding straight into a superkick that nearly knocked out her opponent’s teeth, sending fans into an explosion of sound as the move connected, then counting along for the one two three.

Winner: Danielle Sweetheart

Garcia: She did it! She did it again! Danielle Sweetheart reclaims the crown and she is now a five time Queen of the Ring!

Brayfield: Shame for Emma May, close but no cigar.

Hesketh: If you’ll excuse me gentlemen, I’ve got some official business to attend...

qpoUofG.jpgp89oIgy.jpg7WHAT6i.jpg

Leaving the announcers’ table to get in the ring, Farrah Hesketh joined Commissioner Bomb to present the Queen of the Ring trophy to this year’s winner, Danielle Sweetheart. An emotional finish to the show, Sweetheart raised the trophy for the fifth time in her career, last one being 2016, yet again earning her nickname as the Queen of Hearts.

“Miss Wrestling” Modesty Pador versus Gypsy Rose

The opening match tonight pit Modesty Pador -- who comes to GGOTR from QAW on excursion against the young Gypsy Rose. Rose and Pador are both unaffiliated members of the roster -- though Pador could be affiliated with the other QAW excursions in GGOTR. The match was a fast-paced opening affair. Rose is a quick-hitting, in-and-out style wrestler while Pador is very much like her mentor, the Canadian Dragon. She hits hard and works stiff holds and it made for a good opening contest. Both are still green so it was far from exceptional -- but when Gypsy Rose hi the Gypsy’s Curse, she was able to score a much-needed victory.

In a decent match, Gypsy Rose defeated Modesty Pador in 10:16 by pinfall with a Gypsy's Curse.

Kichi Mochizuki versus K.T. Devonshire

The Pure Heart Champion, K.T. Devonshire, had her work cut out for her here against Strong Style Rising’s Kichi Mochizuki. The two women worked a technical, pure wrestling style contest. The strikes were all open-handed or forearms and elbows. They worked holds and counter holds and Devonshire really got to show her technical prowess and Mochizuki got to show she’s more than a high flyer. Mochizuki made the mistake of using her rope breaks early on and Devonshire was able to lock-in a knee bar that forced the submission, even though Mochizuki had a hold of the bottom rope.

In a decent match, K.T. Devonshire defeated Kichi Mochizuki in 17:36 by submission. K.T. Devonshire makes defence number three of the GGOTR Pure Heart title.

The Dojo [broughton & Windham] versus The San Diego Girls

The third contest of the night was the only tag team match on the show. GGOTR dojo graduates, Rhonda Broughton and Susan Windham had their hands full with the San Diego Girls - the match went longer than it probably needed to. It wasn’ a bad match, but there was definitely a lack of flow in the middle where Broughton and Windham, in particular, looked a little lost. Izzy and Coco really look like stars in the making though and their time in GGOTR could help them hit their (they have plenty of time to get there). Coco hit a big Flying Bulldog on Susan Windham to get the win.

In a decent match, The San Diego Girls defeated Rhonda Broughton and Susan Windham in 11:21 when Coco Malloy pinned Susan Windham with a Flying Bulldog.

“The Black Widow” Zofia Jankovic versus Gorgon

The Usurper to the Throne tournament continued in the next match -- meaning we were into the meat of the night. The reason we were on nigh three of the tournament. Gorgon, the big American Woman Hoss (yes, that’s the technical term), looks like she’s going to be in GGOTR for a little while. This was a strike-heavy contest. Jankovic, the Belarusian martial artist -- looked right at home in a strike heavy contest against the big Gorgon. These two women were clearly going all out, looking to tear the house down -- not something you usually see from Gorgon, but she looked like she was really in the zone and when she hit the Hydra Bomb on Jankovic and scored the victory, it was a big statement from Gorgon that she’s here to dominate the tournament.

In an exceptional match, Gorgon defeated Zofia Jankovic in 9:25 by pinfall with a Hydra Bomb.

This match was part of the 'Usurper to the Throne #1' tournament.

Kalliope Woodchuck versus Chiyeko Kita

Kita has been the top performer in the tournament so far and that continued here. She absolutely had her way with Woodchuck. The young Kiwi wrestler has improved by leaps and bounds, but she was really in over her head against someone as experienced as Chiyeko Kita -- and Kita pummeled her with hard strikes and several stiff suplexes that all set up for a big Strong Head Kick hat knocked Woodchuck loopy and got Kita another tournament win.

In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Chiyeko Kita defeated Kalliope Woodchuck in 13:44 by pinfall with a Strong Head Kick.

Spider Isako versus Juana Hurricane

Another QAW representative, Juana Hurricane, was here -- the only one officially in the tournament. Hurricane and Isako beat the hell out of each other. Hurricane is known for her lucha inspired technical work, and for being one of the foundational pieces of QAW. Isako -- the brightest prospect of the Strong Style Rising collective, looked up to the challenge against Hurricane. Several times she almost put the veteran woman away. Everything that Spider Isako did in the match tried to set up to hit her lethal Jumping Knee Strike. Hurricane had the move scouted though and each time she slid out of the way. Hurricane was able to lock in the Time-Square Lock and force the submission.

In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Juana Hurricane defeated Spider Isako in 22:56 by submission with a Time-Square Lock.

“Amazing” Maisie Laurels versus Geena the Warrior Princess

The veteran Geena the Warrior Princess was looking to really establish herself here against the young Maise Laurels -- who now finds herself as a singles competitor with the retirement of her partner Viper McKenna. Laurels definitely had her work cut out for her. Geena controlled most of the match -- her wild brawling working nicely, but Laurels was able to lock in the Read Naked Choke and able to get the space.

In a decent match, Maisie Laurels defeated Geena The Warrior Princess in 12:46 by submission.

Monster Ishimura versus “The Mistress of the DDT” Steph Blake

The main event was not short -- but it was action-packed. Veteran British wrestler (who many people forget is British), Steph Blake was up against the young monster (pun not intended) Monster Ishimura. Ishimura is very reminiscent of Gorgon. The twenty-seven-year-old Ishimura looks primed to break out and this match could be the start of it. She tossed Blake around -- Blake was in full sell-mode for the monster. Ishimura ran through her. She hit power move after power move -- culminating in a Running Butt Avalanche that ended the match and got Ishimura the big win.

In a superb match, Monster Ishimura defeated Steph Blake in 10:02 by pinfall with a Running Butt Avalanche.
