Is there a reason he's stoll Rocky Maivia and not The Rock?

Yes, I strongly dislike the name "The Rock" and his character is still Rocky Maivia. I don't plan on having him become a face anytime soon. He will be heel for at least one more year.

WWWF World Heavyweight - Bruno Sammartino

October 1970 (Wk4)

WWWF World Heavyweight - Bruno Sammartino

WWWF US World Heavyweight - The Destroyer

WWWF Junior Heavyweight - Pedro Morales (x2)

WWWF International Tag Team - Dominic DeNucci & Pat Barrett (x2)

Studio Wrestling kicked off October with the reveal of The Spoiler. He's tagging with Ernie Ladd and Jerry Valiant as Johnny V makes a scene ringside or steps into colour to crack wise.

DeNucci & Barrett took their tag team titles back at the end of the month show in Madison Square Garden. JJ Dillon's interference cost Waldo Von Erich & Victor Rivera a hotly contested match. This sets up a 3rd and final match for December as Dick Brower & John Quinn get a shot at DeNucci & Barrett.

After a lot of promos and jawing, Bruno Sammartino and Ernie Ladd finally start their series on week 4. Sammartino wins via countout as Ladd walks out of the ring after deciding it's over. Ladd's done this throughout the year frequently, but never has been pinned clean for a loss.

As Sammartino attempts to follow Ladd post-match he's attacked by The Great Kabuki & The Spoiler. The Destroyer helps clear out the chaos and meets The Spoiler in the center of the ring and face off. The road agents head things off before a riot breaks out.

The rest of the title scene has been solid but uneventful. Pedro Morales & The Destroyer are gradually getting better in all departments as they approach Bruno's major star status.

Antonio Inoki's still working with the mildly injured George Steele as they feud with Freddie Blassie and his cronies. Blassie just retired from wrestling and WWWF had the honor of giving him his last match in Madison Square Garden with his top goons Baron Mikel Scicluna & Toru Tanaka.

I love reading about your save. Anything interesting in the NWA with Race?

I love reading about your save. Anything interesting in the NWA with Race?

Thank you! It's been a lot of fun booking as Vincent J. Recently went nuts picked up a bunch of mods, so I've been smoothing out a lot of details. This save's going for the long haul. Figured out a cool way to make the generated "fake" wrestlers into real people. I'll scan the rosters of Olympic and collegiate wrestlers, power lifters, boxers, martial artists, etc, etc (aka athletes/stars that were never actually pro wrestlers) and incorporate stats that mimic them to some level.

Harley Race is the biggest name outside of the WWWF in the USA. He's the top heel in several promotions and killing it with Larry Hennig in AWA. Oddly enough, he's not holding a single belt. Before I signed The Destroyer, he (as Dr. X) had a 93 rated main event with Race. It was a coin flip over who I'd sign and I leaned on The Destroyer since he was older. I plan to have Harley in the WWWF at some point, but it's going to be on a much more diplomatic platform ie: a talent exchange for 6 spots or so.

The NWA has been very interesting. Dr. Wagner defeated Dory Funk Jr. in a best of three on Feb 1970 to become NWA World Heavyweight Champion(!). He's a mega-heel in Texas and a mega-face in Mexico. After some 120 title defenses, Wagner went and won the other NWA singles belt from Danny Hodge. To add to all that, Wagner then tagged with Angel Blanco to win the NWA tag belts! One week into Dr. Wagner's monopoly on the belts, Blanco dies in a car accident! Wagner continues to grind away as the champion as I constantly see warnings about his general health or praise for being an iron man. I wish the AI was savvy enough to use him as a unified champion. I think whenever his momentum dies down (and if his body is still intact) I'll bring him in for a royalty gimmick in WWWF as King Wagner, The Golden Luchador. As for now, he's probably the only guy giving Race a run for his money. Guys like Dusty and Murdoch have a little ways to go before breaking thru.

I've taken to building up Andre the Giant. He is a cinch to book, but I'm making it the slowest build possible. He's restricted to pre-show squashes & 3-man tags with occasional studio show spots in a friendly giant type gimmick. Not planning on a title or anything major for quite some time.

Then there's Billy Graham. His situation is starting to pick up momentum in Stampede so I'm letting that move along naturally and I'll keep a close eye. He did a few pre-show spots for me as Wayne Coleman in tags but proved too green. Also having a hard time getting other Grahams into WWWF now that AWA started signing talent to exclusive contracts. Hopefully Race remains as the ultimate free agent.

Oh, also Bill Watts is AWA champ while Bockwinkel does virtually nothing in Georgia Championship Wrestling. Not sure how I feel about that...at least Heenan's big in the mid-west. Finally, Ray Stevens and Pat Patterson are big on the West Coast as per usual.

It seems like Sable has no competition at all :D

She is Bruno.

But yes, I will admit my division is weak. But, AJW and GLOW are huge (and I own them) so pretty much my whole division is there. I bring people up to face Sable. I plan on having someone eventually win but I like the idea of Sable being undefeated.

October 1970 (Wk4)

WWWF World Heavyweight - Bruno Sammartino

WWWF US World Heavyweight - The Destroyer

WWWF Junior Heavyweight - Pedro Morales (x2)

WWWF International Tag Team - Dominic DeNucci & Pat Barrett (x2)

Nov & Dec 1970 (Wk.4)

WWWF World Heavyweight - Bruno Sammartino

WWWF US World Heavyweight - The Destroyer

WWWF Junior Heavyweight - Jerry Valiant

WWWF International Tag Team - Dominic DeNucci & Pat Barrett (x2)

November was the first month where no titles had changed hands. Everything's locked into the build up for the end of the month show in December.

The Spoiler entered a new trick into his routine with The Great Kabuki. After Kabuki hits the Green Mist, a 2nd masked man identical to The Spoiler comes out to help with the beat down. This Spoiler #2 doesn't last long as he's eventually caught by The Destroyer and revealed to be Gary Hart aka "The final piece of the Bass Syndicate" according to Sam Bass. Kabuki suffered a herniated disc from a green Randy Colley in a squash so it only made sense to bring in Hart.

Bruno/Ladd II took the feud up a notch to a cage match to prevent any countouts. Bruno wins in a 30min brawl, but afterward Ladd mentioned it wasn't "best of 3 falls" so it wasn't a true defense. Feeling the restless heel nature, Bruno gives in and tells him he can have that match, but if he walks out of the ring he has to walk out of the WWWF forever.

December 1970

The Valiants have briefly moved into a singles/manager role. Jerry decided to trim his body up and now can contend for the Junior HW title. It only took a few crooked wins a la 'Johnny V at ringside' to get Pedro Morales' attention. Another crooked win followed, but with Jerry lifting the title from Morales in a classic ref distraction in week 4. Now the whole Capitol Group (Gorilla Monsoon, Carlos Colon, and Peter Maivia) are getting involved due to the injustice of the matter.

George Steele turns heel on Antonio Inoki. Sick of the instruction and control he reverts to The Animal but maintains a few of the brutal moves Inoki had taught him.

DeNucci & Barrett are white hot as the tag titlists. They've been bringing along Spiros Arion and Mario Milano as the team you need beat in order to secure a title match. Teams like Waldo Von Erich & Gene Kiniski, Dick Brower & John Quinn, The Spoiler & Gary Hart have been rotating as the top contenders.

The Destroyer is in a program with Victor Rivera while The Spoiler and Sam Bass' crew continue to interfere. Rivera gets "injured" before the end of the month show and Ivan Koloff is brought in on a bait-and-switch as JJ Dillon plans to help Bass get the US title in a submission match. Figure-four versus Russian bearhug. It backfires as The Destroyer shocks the crowd with a gutsy victory.

Bruno/Ladd III, best of 3 falls, last match of the entire year. Ernie stays in the ring to take Bruno to the limit, but ultimately loses 2 falls to 1. Showing respect, Ladd walks off to the locker room while Bruno and friends celebrate.

First year in the books! This month pushed WWWF to #1 to shade AWA as top promotion. 1971 is primed to go as there's new challenges on the horizon for Bruno Sammartino and the other titlists.
