CWA: Under the Northern Lights

The freezing rain pounded against Steve DeColt’s black overcoat. His hair and beard were matted down, just short of dripping wet. His hands felt numb inside his black leather gloves. It was the second time he’d had to don them in the last eight days.

There was suddenly a hand on his shoulder and he turned to see Jeremy Stone. The gruff, thick-necked warrior had come, extending his umbrella. He looked into Steve’s eyes. “Have you talked to them yet?” Steve looked back at Jeremey, uncomprehendingly. “Your brothers, I mean.” Jeremy gestured his head towards Ricky and Jack, crowded together under their own umbrella. Alex was off to the side, alone.

Understanding dawned on Steve who nodded. “Yeah. I talked to Jack and Ricky. Alex…” his voice trailed off.

Suddenly there was a great deal of jostling and it was a soft woman's voice who spoke. “Steve! Steve!” Steve opened his eyes. He felt clammy. He had sweat through his pajama pants and the sheets were damp. The soft, femine voice continued. “You alright? You were moaning, having a nightmare.”

“Yeah, yeah. I’m okay.” he said through sleepy tones. He looked up at his wife, Sarah, and forced a smile. “Happy New Year.” He choked out meekly.

“Happy New Year!” She replied. His eyes were adjusting to the half-light and the curves of her face were coming into focus. “What was your nightmare about?”

Steve didn’t reply for a long moment and before simply settling on “I don’t remember.” He sat up, suppressing the urge to grunt as his back cracked with basic movement.

Sarah knew he was lying but didn’t press. Instead she pointed to the window. “Wow...they’re really dancing tonight!” Steve turned his head and saw the northern lights, a rippling display of colors twinkling. He took a deep breath and his mouth curled in into a slightly more reassured smile.

A big thank you to all the amazing diary writers out there who have inspired this project. I don't predict or comment on a ton of diaries, but I've been a professional lurker for years. In particular, quick shouts to Historian, Voeltzwagon, Crossface, to4sty, NoNeck, JamesCasey, Togg, TheLloyd, CGN91, Pteroid, Poet Justice, DarK_RaideR, Self, arwink, angeldelayette, and an undoubted countless others that I'm missing.

A secondary thank you to all the fantastic artists who share their work on logos, renders, belts, alts, etc. Especially want to shout out Croquemitaine and Kamchatka for the CWA logo and event graphics (I believe RayW also deserves some credit there, too). Also to ReapeR and Munit for the CWA Championships and Grand Prix trophy respectively. I'll be using renders from a variety of other artists too, so a few more quick shouts shipshirt, brat99, jtlant, J Silver, willr0ck, King Bison, Bull, The Celt, WillyWillyWilly, and I'm sure others that I'm missing.

2020: A Look Ahead

Z67ARGys.jpg

By Davis Ditterich

iOdNFzis.jpg vs. uk0unUMs.jpg

The “A-Game” vs. “The MVP”

Undoubtedly the “A-Game” Aaron Knight and the self-proclaimed “MVP of CWA,” Cameron Vessey have been the cornerstone rivalry of the short history of the CWA. 2018 featured several hallmark bouts between the two ultra-competitive performers but tensions had seemingly cooled through 2019.

That all changed in October at Big City Brawl when two rivals once again faced off--going the distance in a classic 30 minute, time-limit draw. In the closing moments of the bout Vessey had Knight locked up tight in the Proton Lock. Knight, in an unbelievable display of constitution, refused to submit to the hold for close to two full minutes, only to escape by the time-keeper's bell. Vessey, furious at the decision to declare the bout a draw, unleashed a devastating attack on Knight two weeks later on CWA Championship wrestling.

With Total Elimination just two weeks away, Vessey has aligned himself with some dangerous allies, “Shooter” Sean Deely & “The Submission Demon” Johnny Bloodstone. Knight has formed himself an equally formidable team “the Barbadian Barbarian” Donte Dunn and the former CWA Television champion, Skip Beau.

clCrDJRs.jpg vs. yZyL0E1s.jpg

Inter-generational Conflict

For the CWA Champion, “the Stud” Christian Price, 2019 was an elite year. Price, alongside The Dynamite Express, Blockbuster and Drake Young have put a stranglehold on CWA’s top singles and tag prizes. Things took a surprising turn in November, however. With Aaron Knight injured at the hands of Cameron Vessey and unable to compete in the brutal 8-Man Apocalypse Match, Sean McFly became an unlikely substitution. For one night, the aging grappler was seemingly able to turn back the calendar and produced a masterful performance, forcing the champion to submit in the middle of the cage, winning the bout soundly.

Following the throwback performance, a groundswell of support from the CWA faithful has gathered around McFly, a clear front-runner for a championship opportunity.

In two weeks time, McFly will join the 2019 CWA Tag Team Grand Prix winners, Thunder & Lightning, to challenge Elite at Total Elimination. If McFly can do the unthinkable one more time, submit “the Stud” in the center of the ring, a title bout must surely be in the future.

13Uc1JWs.jpgsZXBlsXs.jpgvBPWeygs.jpgz573y4gs.jpg

Fierce Competition

The CWA Women’s division might be the most hotly contested division in the sport. Anchored by champion “Amazing” Amber Allen, the division has become chock full of potential challengers. “The Boss” Lauren Easter, “the Franchise” Brooke Tyler and Nadia Snow’s ever-threatening Queen’s Court are all poised to take a run at Amber’s gold. Projecting out for the year however tells a more interesting tale as several young prospects look to establish their own names in the tightly-contested division. Many fans are looking forward to seeing young talents like Laura Flame, Claire Winters, Sandra Shine, and Ariel Breaks come into their own this coming year.

Ditterich’s 5 Wrestlers to Watch in 2020:

phtg575s.jpg

CWA Television Champion, Mr. Impact.

Mr. Impact has been the TV champ for the better part of a year and has used the exposure the title has given him to really open some eyes. Undoubtedly Mr. Impact has the skill...the problem is that he knows it. If the young champ can keep his ego in check, the sky could be the limit.

BybdD84s.jpg

Marc DuBois

Once touted as a “Can’t Miss Prospect,” DuBois forced his way out of wrestling for several years following several reports and rumors of personal issues. 2 weeks ago, DuBois returned to the sport of kings. While his intentions largely remain unknown, his in-ring talent does not seem to have diminished.

s5Xb53qs.jpg

David Stone

Growing up with the last name “Stone” is no small cross to bear. Perhaps no dynasty in wrestling casts a bigger shadow. If the youngster can shrug off the lofty expectations that his last name carries and focus on being the best wrestler he can be, 2020 could be a landmark year.

vbVbodHs.jpgbFZoPCvs.jpg

The Griffin Family

The power of “the Anvil” and the speed of “Top Rope” are a formidable combination. These two young brothers have the talent to capture the CWA Tag Team titles.

Jbhe2H6s.jpg

“Ice Cold” Claire Winters

Don’t let her pretty face fool you. Claire Winters might be the toughest performer on the whole CWA roster. Winters formidable background in kickboxing and MMA brings an advantage not found elsewhere on the entire roster.

Main Show

The bluesy rock song, “
” was just coming to a close as the first CWA Championship Wrestling of 2020 kicked off! Davis Ditterich, Sam Curran, and Tom Townsend had barely finished wishing the fans a “Happy New Year” before things were kicked off with a big stakes opening match-up.

CWA Tag Team Championship: Thunder & Lightning w/ Faith vs. The Dynamite Express © w/ Drake Young

Thunder & Lightning, the challengers made their way out first. Despite only being in their early 30’s, Jason Thunder and Lightning Lumos had been teaming for close to 15 years. Since aligning themselves with their bubbly manager, Faith, the duo were enjoying the best run of their career having recently won the prestigious CWA Tag Team Grand Prix back in November.

The ever cocky champions and members of the arrogant stable Elite, came out next. Being led to the ring by their loudmouth promoter, Drake Young, The Dynamite Express displayed their gold proudly, patting and polishing the title belts as they hamed it up for the crowd. Their swagger was not without merit as the duo were closing in on their one-year anniversary as champions, the longest tenured champions in the promotion.

Referee Alan Gray raised the belts up high and signaled to the timekeeper to get things underway. Despite some early offense from Jason Thunder, the Dynamite Express took control for most of the bout, pounding on Lightning Lumos. After a hot tag, things became chaotic with Gray having his hands full with the four competitors, as well as the two managers ringside.

It was in the chaos that the finish came. Cam Jones pinned Thunder’s arms behind him as Drake Young prepared to smash the tag titles belt across the forehead of the challenger. Thunder slipped free at the last second and Young crashed into Jones! Lumos arrived just then to dropkick the manager from the ring as Jason Thunder dove atop Jones for the shocking pinfall!

Post Match:

Following the match Jason Thunder and Lightning Lumos had their hands raised high as referee Alan Gray presented them their newly won championships. Faith was clapping and jumping beside them, a total emotional high.

The joy was short-lived however. The Dynmate Express had slithered back into the ring armed with steel chairs. The sickening sound of steel on flesh echoed through the arena as Lumos and Thunder caved to the mat in agony. Drake Young situated his body, forcing Faith into the corner to watch helplessly as The Express continues to wail on the new champions.

On commentary, Tom Townsend questioned where Sean McFly was, these were his partners for Total Elimination! Curran was quick to respond that he had gotten word that McFly’s plane was grounded due to extreme ice and was not in attendance tonight.

A few more kicks to the downed champions and the Dynamite Express were seemingly finished. Drake Young grabbed a microphone and moaned “this isn’t over!” as the three exited the ring. Faith was in tears beside her men as ringside officials tried to clear the scene before a commercial break.

Segment Rating: 56

Hank Gunn vs. Mountie Mann

Coming back from commercial, the announcers were subdued and could only reveal that Thunder & Lightning left the ring of their own power. That said, they were heading to a local hospital to have their injuries diagnosed.

Meanwhile in the ring, Mountie Mann and Hank Gunn were having a decent exchange. That said, the ending was never really in doubt. The corrupt RMC beat the rookie sensation pretty handily in a match designed to cool the crowd down following the intensity of the first bout.

Winner: Mountie Mann

Time: 7:04

Backstage:

The show cut to backstage where Elite had gathered in the locker room. In the background, Blockbuster and Drake Young could be seen attempting to console Cam Jones and Syd Collier. CWA World Champion, “the Stud” Christian Price was in foreground, eyes dead set into the camera. The champion seemed manic, desperate as he tore through a torrent of nervous speech. “Hellllllooooo….McFly!!! Did you see that? Huh? Did you? Your buddies are off to the ER. Where does that leave you McFly, huh? Total Elimination is in less than two weeks….seems to me you need some new partners!”

Segment Rating: 73

Amber Allen & Sandra Shine vs. Nadia Snow & Jessica Condrey w/Deborah Young

Amber Allen and Sandra Shine look to take on Nadia Snow and Jessica Condrey of The Queen’s Court in the next bout. With the mighty Deborah Young lurking ringside, Allen and Shine were really wrestling a handicapped match. That said, Allen and Shine more than held their own in the early goings. Amber Allen was Women’s Champion by no accident, and Sandra Shine displayed her high-flying prowess--a clear cornerstone of the future of the CWA Women’s Division for years to come.

Unfortunately in the end, the numbers game was too much to overcome. As Allen tied herself up with Condrey, Shine had “the Queen,” Nadia Snow in position for Rise & Shine (Sandra’s spectacular version of a super-rana). With both women perched on the top, Young jumped on the apron and muscled the young highflier to the mat. Snow took advantage with a severe guillotine leg drop from the top to secure the pin.

Winners: Nadia Snow & Jessica Condrey

Time: 8:45

Broadcast Reset:

The broadcast came to rest on the announce team next. Sam Curran informed those watching at home that Brooke Tyler and Lauren Easter would both be on the program next week to announce their partners for Total Elimination. Next, the team welcomed Adrian Garcia to the table. Garcia teed up a special, sit-down interview he conducted with one Marcus DuBois. That interview would be right after this commercial break…

Segment Rating: 55

Interview

The former “Consultant to the Stars,” Adrian Garcia was joined by the self-proclaimed “Chosen One,” Marc DuBois in a generic greenroom.

Garcia started the interview by noting that DuBois has only been in CWA in a short time and much of his intentions are still not known. DuBois smirked and responded that his intentions were obvious--to finally complete his “destiny.” DuBois noted he was “robbed” of his career by the “petty politics of ego-driven wrestling promoters.”

The more DuBois spoke, the sharper his intensity became. He continued on his own diatribe as Garcia more or less got out of his way. DuBois noted that growing up he watched the Stones and the DeColts on television. He imagined that he’d be there one day, prominently featured on top of the card of either CGC or NOTBPW, as “the start of Canada's next great dynasty.” But then noted that although he had tryout matches with both companies, he had to go to America to get his chance. After 10 years of proving himself on the biggest of stages, neither of the Canadian companies would touch him.

DuBois leaned into Garcia closely and asked “Do you know what that was Adrian?”

Garcia responded “I imagine it was your personal iss--”

Dubois cut him off. “Ha! Issues? No, no, no….It was because guys like the DeColts, the Stones, Sean McFly--they were all afraid that I’d make them look bad. You started by asking me my intentions? To make them realize their fears of being upstaged were correct.”

CWA Television Championship: Erik Strong vs. Mr. Impact ©

“The Shooting Star,” Erik Strong was hoping lightning could strike twice here tonight as he challenged Mr. Impact for the Television Championship. Strong relied on his quickness and aerial tactics early in the contest. When Mr. Impact countered a hurricanrana attempt with a sit down powerbomb, things took a turn. Mr. Impact slowed things down from that point, mocking the perennial underdog with arrogant faux-cover attempts. .

The match took a turn when the champion sent Strong into the ropes and lowered his head for a backdrop. “The Shooting Star” used his athleticism to vault over the back of the champion. In the process, Strong collided into referee Jonathan Taylor who spilled out of the ring and to the floor. In the ring, Strong was riding a big wave of momentum, taking it to Mr. Impact with a variety of flashy counters, ending with a spectacular Strong-Sault!

Referee Alan Gray had hurried into the ring and was in position to count 1, 2, 3! A new champion!

Winner & New Television Champion:Erik Strong

Time: 13:17

“The Shooting Star held the title aloft as the crowd furiously applauded the underdog with heart. Mr. Impact was arguing with the two officials and suddenly the bell rang a second time and Strong’s music was cut short. The ringside announcer came on to note that after conferring, the official ruling of the bout was now a disqualification, and Mr. Impact was in fact the winner and still the champion.

A dejected Erik Strong looked on as Mr. Impact cradled his title, narrowly escaping with his coveted gold.

Backstage Promo:

“The A-Game,” Aaron Knight, flanked by Donte Dunn and Skip Beau, his partners at Total Elimination, were backstage for a brief promo ahead of the main event. Knight, looking calm and assured gestured his arms out to his partners. “Gentlemen, do you hear that? Sounds like an alarm…” The 3 pantomined looking for the sources of the sound before Knight held up a finger and reached out with his phone. “Ah ha! It was a reminder...for Johnny Bloodstone. Looks like his time is up.” The easy smile faded, and the “A-Game” and company headed toward the ring...

Segment Rating: 73

“The A Game” Aaron Knight vs. “The Submission Demon” Johnny Bloodstone

Bloodstone was out first, and he came with his Total Elimination partners in tow as well. Bloodstone, escorted by Cam Vessey and “Shooter” Sean Deeley made for an intimidating trio.

With the extra four bodies on the outside, head CWA referee Eugene Williams had his hands full during tonight’s main event. Despite occasional dust-ups on the floor, the action in the ring was ref’s main focus however. It was a sea-saw contest with an established flow of Knight stinging together some solid brawling only to be brought to a halt but the technical prowess of “the demon.”

As the tension on the outside mounted, Williams was inevitably drawn into the outside fray. The distraction was enough for Cameron Vessey to roll into the ring, undetected by Knight, and dump the “A-Game” to the mat with a devastating Vesey Driver. Bloodstone capitalized and Williams turned in time to count the three.

Winner: Johnny Bloodstone

Every arena was a little bit different, but Steve DeColt knew them all--at least from the performer’s standpoint. Since taking on the role of CEO, the veteran more often found himself in small, makeshift offices and production areas--not the familiarity of locker rooms. He made it a point not to get too locked in the office work--being sure to be a presence everywhere in the building.

At this moment he was ringside. The promotion had brought in a few youngsters on handshake deals to work the bottom of the card. Two teams to be exact, Minnesota Awesome and The Heartbreak Express. Duane had them in the ring, running a few drills, getting a sense of what they could do. Jeremy Stone was watching alongside DeColt and grumpily remarked “Were we ever that young?”

Steve smiled. “Younger.”

Stone replied. “Speak for yourself. I was already bald when I was twenty.” Jeremy patted his own head.

Adrain Garcia called over. “Hey Steve! Jeremy! Sorry to interrupt, but I wanted to introduce you to Ernest Youngman.”

KejM0ec.jpg

Steve turned and faced the new signee and offered his hand. Youngman looked the part--simultaneously lean and muscular, a strong jaw, dark shiny hair. He had the look, and more importantly, he could go in the ring.

Youngman took the CEO’s hand in a strong grip. “Thanks for having me. I’m excited for the opportunity.” Steve smiled. He liked that the kid did a man’s handshake. He hated that soft, carny style of handshake that was far more common when Steve entered the business.

DeColt replied “We're happy to have you. We think you have a lot to offer!”

Elite Promo

had just concluded and the show opened with the arrival of Elite. The 5 man stable looked to be all business just ahead of Total Elimination. Christian Price, title draped over his shoulder, peering over the top of a pair of aviator sunglasses, said nothing as the crowd jeered. When the buzz trailed off, Price raised the microphone to his mouth to address his Sean McFly. “McFly, let’s be totally upfront. Total Elimination is Saturday and you have no partners. I will let no one say that ‘the Stud’ is unfair or unreasonable. If you want to bow out of the match, come down to the ring now and we’ll be happy to accept your forfeit.”

The group waited a few moments but McFly did not appear. Price continued. “Come on Sean, no time to be a hero…Just come down here and accept our invitation and this nightmare will be over.”

With the members of Elite all facing the entryway, they did not notice that Sean McFly had made his way through the crowd and he was wielding a baseball bat. McFly slid under the bottom rope and stood behind the intimidating Blockbuster motioning for the crowd to be quiet. McFly tapped Blockbuster on the shoulder who turned around to receive a bat shot to the stomach!

The rest of the group spun around to see McFly holding the bat high, ready to swing for the fences. Drake Young caught a shot to the gut and joined Blockbuster on the mat. Price, Jones and Collier all jumped from the ring like rats on a sinking ship, scurrying off to safety.

McFly picked up the discarded microphone and simply said “I found some substitute partners. See you on Saturday...”

8-Man Tag: Diablo Duvak, Sonny Wildside & Generation Z vs. George Wolfe, Antonio Del Veccio & The Brothers Cain

Generation Z and The Brothers Cain have had simmering tensions in recent weeks and are scheduled to be on opposing teams this Saturday at Total Elimination 3. In a bit of a preview of that bout on display this evening, the tensions were clearly rising. The wild and unpredictable Cain brothers showed their continued frustrations with being unable to subject the high-energy youngsters with their power and brawling. Eli's frustrations rose to the point where the contest had to be thrown out as the twisted Cain brother continued to bite the head of Alyx Winters to the point of drawing a trace amount of blood!

Winners: Duvak, Wildside & Generation Z via DQ

Alistair Shufflebottom vs. “Canada’s Chosen One” Marc DuBois

DuBois demonstrated all his arrogance and skill in the short, squash match. DuBois cat-called to the crowd and toyed with young Shufflebottom before finally putting him away with the DeColt .45 of all maneuvers.

Winner: Marc DuBois

Backstage:

Sean McFly was walking to his car, having made his point this evening. “Uncle Sean! Uncle Sean!” It was young David Stone chasing after the legendary grappler.

McFly turned and smiled at his nephew. “David!”

“Uncle Sean, let me be your partner at Total Elimination. I can help you!” The enthusiastic youngster offered.

McFly lay his hand on his shoulder. “This is not your fight David.” The younger Stone began to protest before being cut off by McFly. The distinguished veteran simply said “Not this one.” before continuing his exit of the arena.

“Ice Cold” Claire Winters w/ Amber Allen & Sandra Shine vs. “Queen” Nadia Snow w/ The Queen’s Court (Conroy & Young)

A preview of another Total Elimination match featuring the superb CWA’s Women’s division was on deck next. Mindful of the Queen’s Court lurking ringside, Winters was no fool and brought Amber and Shine out with her as her own backup.

Winters displayed her high energy and striking technique as she brought it to CWA’s resident royal. Snow, for her own part, used her craftiness and veteran guile to keep Winters on her toes.

As expected, the finish came when the outside personalities let their tensions get the best of them and referee Jonathan Taylor struggled to be everywhere at once. In the ring Winters was in control, momentum clearly on her side. The giantess and royal enforcer Deborah Young climbed up on the apron and began jaw-jacking with MMA striker.

The distraction was all Nadia Snow needed to recover. When Winters turned her attention back to the bout, she walked right into a devastating Snow Ball! With that, the Queen secured the pinfall.

Backstage Interview:

Adrian Garcia was backstage with the former 4x's NOTBPW Women’s Champion, Lauren Easter. Easter agreed that Brooke Tyler had succeeded in her mission of finding a couple of “bad bitches” to join her at Total Elimination. “The Boss” smiled and noted that her teammates were even badder, however and introduced Sally Anne Christianson and Zoe Amiss.

Another Total Elimination match had been finalized.

The DeColt Boys vs. The Montreal Mafia

The DeColt Boys and The Montreal Mafia delivered a good match with plenty of seesaw action. During the bout, the announce team was sure to put over that The DeColts and Sonny Wildside have an open contract for Total Elimination. Surely expected to be a coveted spot on the card, there were no shortages of teams expecting to entering bid with CWA management.

Back to the ring the outcome most expected was reached as Jack DeColt pinned Dermott Ayers following DeColt Double Impact.

Winners: The DeColt Boys

Backstage Promo:

“The Shooting Star” Erik Strong gave some brief comments regarding him almost winning of the CWA Television Championship last week. He didn’t agree with the decision being reversed, and to that end, challenged Mr. Impact to find two partners for Total Elimination. He added the bonus caveat that if he could survive in the match longer than Impact, he’d get a rematch for the Television Championship.

Donte Dunn w/ Aaron Knight & Skip Beau vs. Cameron Vessey w/ Johnny Bloodstone & “Shooter” Sean Deeley

For twenty minutes, "The Barbadian Barbarian" and CWA's "MVP" exchanged quality wresting for a hot crowd. The ringside presence of Knight, Beau, Bloodstone and Deeley added tremendous tension to the bout.

Coming into the finish of the bout, Vessey seemed to be lining Dunn up for his patented Vesey Driver, calling for the move as he catcalled to Knight watching in. Knight responded by jumping to the apron, returning the trash talk.

The momentary distraction as all Dunn needed to recover. When Vessey turned around he was greeted by Sunny Daze, the power Pele-style kick Dunn used as finish. Vessey crumpled to the mat and Dunn locked up the pinfall!

Winner: Donte Dunn

Quickly, Sam Curran ran through the event rules for the evening:

Erik Strong & The Griffin Family vs. Mr. Impact & The Montreal Mafia

-If Erik Strong outlasts Mr. Impact, he will receive a rematch for the CWA Television Championship

With that short introduction, the show was off and running. Perennial underdog Erik Strong came with strong back up this evening, partnering alongside the Griffin Brothers, Mark and Robby. Not to be outdone the CWA Television Champion Mr. Impact had a solid tag team backing him up, The Montreal Mafia, fresh off a fine display against the DeColt Boys on Championship Wrestling).

Action was fast and furious right out the gate as both teams used frequent tags to continue the see-saw action at a quick pace. Mark Raisin was the first elimination of the evening when he was caught by Mark Griffin, while coming off the top rope. The Anvil dropped Raisin with a spinebuster before tagging in his brother allowing the duo to exploit the 5-second tag rule to extinguish Raisin with the Rocket Launcher.

Robby was immediately attacked by Mr. Impact following the elimination. The younger Griffin was simply overwhelmed by the champion’s intensity, as Adrian Garcia was quick to remind viewers he was down a man and didn’t want to have to defend his title against Erik Strong a second time. Mr. Impact snapped the young Griffin around with a wicked Impact-plex (a twisting fisherman suplex), held the leg tightly and Robby Griffin was sent packing.

Erik Strong burst into the ring, looking for another taste of Mr. Impact. Impact took a powder and tagged in Dermott Ayers. Strong looked good against Ayers for the next few moments until Impact blind tagged himself in and caught Strong unaware. This led to Ayers and Impact to execute a series of quick tags to get heat on the CWA’s resident underdog.

Strong wouldn’t give in however, even catching Ayers with a surprise inside cradle for another quick elimination before making the hot tag to Mark Griffin.Griffin displayed his power with a tremendous stalling suplex that seemingly kept the TV champion in the air forever.

Mark tagged in Strong and “the Shooting Star” launched into a magnificent Strong-Sault, landing perfectly on Mr. Impact for the final elimination of the bout.

Amber Allen, Sandra Shine & Claire Winters vs. The Queen’s Court

This bout was given the time it needed to tell the best story, but did have a few standout moments. Sandra Shine was the first one eliminated, succumbing to a wicked choke bomb by Deborah Young. Claire Winters immediately jumped into the ring and brought a fiery display of striking skills that totally overwhelmed Young.

Winters tossed the menacing, but dazed, Young into the ropes. On the rebound, Winters caught Queen Snow’s “royal executioner” square in the jaw with a vicious looking elbow strike. Young completely crumpled to the mat. Referee Jonathan Taylor quickly backed Winters up as he checked on Young, supine on the mat. Taylor called for the bell as Young had been totally knocked out cold. After a moment, the powerhouse did come to, but was clearly dazed and needed to be helped to the back by medical officials.

Winters, despite the amazing display of technique and force, displayed her lack of experience however. Distracted by Young’s removal of the bout, the MMA striker was totally taken unaware by Nadia Snow. Snow slipped in and caught Claire Winters with a Snow Ball, effectively removing her from the contest.

That left a 2-1 advantage for The Queen’s Court but the CWA Women’s champion showed no hesitation as she rushed into the confrontation. After a brief exchange, Allen and Snow stalemated. Snow muscled Allen into the corner and was able to tag and work with Conroy to exploit the numbers advantage. Conroy kept the heat on, tossing Allen by her hair across the ring before rubbing her face in the mat. Conroy soaked in some jeers as she catcalled to fans. Allen recovered on the mat and when Conroy turned back, Allen was all over “Lil’ Miss Marvel.” Allen, an unquestionably superior technician to Conroy at this stage of their respective careers, had little trouble submitting Nadia Snow’s last remaining ally but a cross-armbreaker.

That left the champion and the queen. The two showed had another exchange and abruptly concluded when Snow caught Allen with an O’Conner roll after the champion collided into the turnbuckle facefirst. The replay showed Snow firmly holding onto Allen’s tights!

The DeColt Boys and Sonny Wildside were out to the ring next, the crowd clearly enamored with the DeColts. Jack began with his trademark, “Is this DeColt Country?!” as the crowd wildly endorsed the CGC stalwarts.

Ricky continued “Total Elimination is a special event for my brother and I. It’s an event that we fared pretty well at in the past.” Ricky smirked, knowing full well that both Jack and Ricky have survived every Total Elimination match they had ever competed in, both in CGC and CWA. “It’s great opportunity to fight alongside some amazing talents.” Ricky said, clapping the young daredevil Sonny Wildside across the back.

Jack finished “Which is why we have an open contract for anyone out there who wants to test their mettle! We’re not ducking anyone. If you got a group of guys for us to fight--time to send them out!”

AsUXjck.jpg

“Hoho Boys!” Mountie Mann appeared in the maple-leaf tunnel. “It just so happens I found a couple of hardy bucks to mount up alongside me to run you out of here!”

From the tunnel, Derek Frost and Lee Rivera (ever accompanied by Jenny Playmate) flanked the RMCP and charged the ring.

Sonny Wildside & The DeColt Boys vs, Mountie Mann, Derek Frost and Lee Rivera w/Jenny Playmate

The 6 competitors met in the middle of the ring and collided into a flurry of fists. Quickly each opponent found a dancing partner and brawling was happening inside and outside of the ring. Official Alan Gray called for the bell and signaled for things to start with Jack DeColt and Derek Frost as the starting legal man. On the floor, Mountie Mann squared off with Ricky DeColt as Sonny Wildside tangled with Lee Rivera on the far side of the ring. Things settled down eventually with Gray rounding everyone up in their respective corners.

All 6 men survived for over 8 minutes, the first match to go that long without an elimination. The streak was broken when Sonny Wildside came off the top with a corkscrew press only for Mountie Mann to roll out of the way at the last moment. The corrupt RCMP made a quick tag to Derek Frost who was able to plant the prone Wildside with a Snow Plow.

“The Ice Man” and Jack DeColt once again squared off and the big, bulky brawler cut DeColt off from his brother and locked in a tight bearhug. Jack displayed trademark DeColt fortitude however and was able to break the hold by clapping Frost’s skull (to which Garcia decried “that could pop his eardrum!”). A dazed Frost had enough veteran wherewithal to get to his corner and make the tag to Lee Rivera.

Rivera rushed in to be greeted by a hot tag and a fired-up Ricky DeColt. Ditterich was quick to point out the long-standing rivalry between Rivera and DeColt, citing the highly regarded best-of-7 series the two shared back in 2016. Much like that series, Lee Rivera came up short in this exchange too, succumbing to the DeColt .45 as Jenny Playmate screeched ringside.

Now a 2-2 match, Mountie Mann and Derek Frost simply did not have the cohesion of the DeColt Boys. Ricky and Jack handily dealt with the remaining foes over the next few minutes as their good fortune at Total Elimination continued another year.

Post Match:

Ricky and Jack took a moment to celebrate in the ring, posing for the 30,000 strong who had gathered here tonight. As the duo were headed back down the aisle, a man with a black coat and ballcap hopped the crowd barricade, chair in hand.

He charge the unsuspecting Ricky DeColt who was trailing his brother. THWAP! The sickening sound of flesh on steel clapped through the arena as the man swung the chair across Ricky’s shoulderblades. The man picked Ricky’s prone form up and ran his headfirst into the crowd barrier.

Hearing the chair and the crowd, Jack had no turned around and made a play to drive the attacker off. The assailant hurled the chair at Jack’s head. Jack reacted, covering his face and head as the chair bounced off of him. The moment was all the man needed to dart back over the barricade. Once he was safely in the crowd, and Jack was standing over Ricky checking on him, the assailant dropped the hat and removed the coat to reveal....

The story of this match was the early and quick eliminations of both Sally Anne Christianson and Zoe Ammis, setting “the Boss” down to a 3-1 on one advantage. Easter worked hard against the odds, even dispatching Demelza Wade with her trademark belly-to-belly suplex.

She wasn’t able to push through the tandem of Laura Flame and “the Franchise Player,” Brooke Tyler. Flame took Easter down with Flame Kick, but Easter endured. Getting frustrated with her inability to eliminate Easter, Flame tagged in Tyler who delivered the Brooke-Breaker for the win.

I mean, I got Skip Beau, a man who I know I can count on in that corner as we’ve gotten gold together and I got here Donte Dunn, the man who got your number last week!”

Aaron Knight, Donte Dunn & Skip Beau vs. Cameron Vessey, Shooter Sean Deely & Johnny Bloodstone

The heat was fantastic right off the gate as the crowd buzzed for these 6 men. For over twenty minutes all 6 men worked hard, neither side able to score an elimination. When the first one came, it was a shock. The heel team had cut off Knight from his partners. Bloodstone tried a bridging Northern Lights Suplex but Knight kicked out at 2. Getting frustrated, Bloodstone tagged in Deely and took the “A-Game” for a ride with 3 rolling German Suplexes in succession before tagging in Vessey who finished off his rival with a devastating Vesey Driver.

And like that, Aaron Knight was the first elimination of the bout.

Skip Beau charged into the fray pummeling Vessey with everything he had. Vessey was quick to bring Bloodstone in, not wanting to deal with the fresh Beau. Bloodstone did not fend much better as “the Flow” was clearly flowing. In an impressive display, Beau held Bloodstone up in a fireman’s carry before flipping forward, crashing across the midsection of Bloodstone (the old Rolling Hills, made famous by Fit Finlay!). Beau continued his hot streak following up with the Flow Down, sending Bloodstone to the back.

Unfortunately that’s when “the Flow” petered out. Deely and Vessey were quick to take things back under control, taunting Dunn on the apron so he’d charge into the ring, only to be admonished by referee Alan Gray allowing the double-team. After a few minutes of this, Deely submitted Beau for the next elimination.

“The Barbadian Barbarian” shone for the next several minutes as he fended off the man advantage. Dunn lasted through a bevy of offense and, with the crowd behind him, caught Sean Deely the Sunny Daze seemingly out of nowhere, bringing the bout to one-on-one. By this point in the bout, Dunn has simply suffered through too much. After a few false finishes, Donte Dunn succumbed to the Vessey Driver.

McFly made his way through the maple leaf tunnel and stood for a few moments as the music stopped. The crowd chanted “Mc-Fly! Mc-Fly” for a few moments before he simply smirked and put his fingers to his lips, shushing the tumult.

A theme filled the arena next, one that hadn’t been heard in Canadian arenas for nearly five years. Out came…

Dan Stone Jr. and Jeremey Stone, accompanied by Duane who was there to lend moral support. The crowd erupted to see the Stones back.

Sean McFly, Dan Stone Jr. & Jeremey Stone w/ Duane Stone vs. Elite (Price & The Dynamite Express) w/ Blockbuster & Drake Young

Christian Price and Drake Young pleaded with head official Eugene Williams that the Stones were retired and they had no business being the ring (a point Adrian Garcia agreed with!). Williams shook his head and the Elite turned around in time as McFly and the Stones charged into the ring and took the fight right to the cocky champion and his entourage.

The Stones, particularly the older Jeremy, had clearly lost a bit of step, given their age and time away from the ring. That didn’t matter to the fans in attendance however. They were thrilled to see the Candain stalwarts back in the saddle, doing what they do best--pro wrestling.

For the next half hour, the 6-men weaved an entertaining tale for the fans. Duane Stone played his part as the ringside counter to Drake Young and Blockbuster. In between the ropes, Sean McFly did the majority of the selling for the babyface side, making timely tags to Jeremy and Dan to take control. Dan submitted Collier with a Stone Ankle Stretch and Jeremy caused Jones to tap in a Stone Hold.

That left Christian Price for McFly who sent his rival packing with a perfectly executed Delorean Driver.

<p><strong>Following Total Elimination...</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The roster had gathered around the large dining room used for catering. Steve DeColt had gathered all the hands and production crew around. He had a few of the young guys, namely Solomon Gold, Danny Draper and Alyx Winters, lugging in coolers full of Molson Ice and a few bottles of Proseco. It was a CWA tradition to toast after a big show. Quite honestly, Steve felt the show was a little underwhelming. The main event had gone too long and the crowd had fatigued--but he wasn’t going to show that. He was going to emphasize the positives.</p><p> </p><p>

“Another one in the books!” the CWA CEO began. “First, I want to start by welcoming back Dan! For you younger folks, for as long as he’s here, you listen to every damn word this guy says. He’s forgotten more tricks of the trade than most of you will ever know!” The locker room applauded for the esteemed, ring veteran. Not many people were regarded any higher than the great Dan Stone Jr. Stone, still in his ring gear and shimmering with sweat, raised his can and smiled gratefully. </p><p> </p><p>

“Next I want to point out this guy!” DeColt had turned his attention to Cam Vessey, fresh out of the shower and Molson in hand. “Hell of performance out there kid!” Again, another round of cheers for Vessey. Everyone knew he’d be an important cog in the wheel for CWA going forward. </p><p> </p><p>

“But the performance of the night belongs to….” Sonny Wildside and Diablo Duvak were slapping their folding chairs to get a drumroll going. DeColt walked around before arriving at Brooke Tyler’s feet. “That’s how you do it folks! Nice job out there. You had them up, you had them down...good stuff.” </p><p> </p><p>

Tyler smiled before remarking “give me more time next time and it’ll be even better!” The locker room cheered one more time and Aaron Knight whistled and Drake Young made some catcalls in support of their friend. </p><p> </p><p>

Chatter broke out and the room was a dull buzz as everyone enjoyed a drink as they were packing up there gear. Steve made his way over to Sean McFly. McFly bending over, icing his neck. Tamara McFly, who was visiting backstage, was by her brother's side. Steve nodded to her before directing his questions to Sean. “How you doing?”</p><p> </p><p>

McFly winced a bit before responding “I did something to my neck. I don’t know. Just some ice, I’ll be alright.”</p><p> </p><p>

DeColt nodded. “Take TV off this week. I want you rested up for the Clash Classic. No need to run you into the ground.”</p><p> </p><p>

“I’m fine--”</p><p> </p><p>

DeColt cut him off “No Sean. Take TV off this week. We’re good.”</p><p> </p><p>

Tamara smiled down on her brother. “Listen to the man, will you?” Sean threw up his hands and winced again before nodding. </p><p> </p><p>

Tamara turned back to Steve. “Hey Steve, any chance I could come into the office one day this week? I want to talk to you about something...”</p><p> </p><p>

“Sure thing Tam. Text me tomorrow--we’ll set something up. Everything okay?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Yeah, yeah. Nothing that can’t wait. I’ll text you.”</p>
