<p><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>TCW Presents Total Wrestling:</strong></span></p><p> </p><p> Mighty Mo and Freddy Huggins almost came to blows after Mo squashed Elliot Thomas, but they saved themselves for Battegrounds, which is a lot more than can be said for the rest of the roster. Despite being warned to be on his best behaviour, Killer Shark took out the referee in his match with Sammy Bach before smashing the veteran around with a variety of objects from around the ring. When he made the pin Spencer Spade came out to “assist” the referee in making the three count (which, as the ref was unconscious, involved him picking him his hand and hitting the mat three times in quick succession). That brought Shark a ban from the arena for the rest of the night, but even then he <em>still </em>showed up during the match between Andrews and his colleague Titan. This caused Queen Emily to come out mid-match to ban him from Battlegrounds, and Andrews heaped on the misery by throwing Titan out of the ring onto Shark, earning himself the count out victory as The Sinner Society members argued with Queen Emily. The Sinner Society will now be represented by Titan, Danny Darkness and Chris Flynn at Battlegrounds.</p><p> </p><p> Elsewhere Jay Chord “surprisingly” (if you didn’t know he was carrying an injury) announced that he would not be part of Team Chord at Battlegrounds - his team will consist of Findlay O’Farraday, Marc Speed, Troy Tornado and Davis Wayne Newton. They are due to face Enygma, Mystery Man, Masked Cougar and Tigre Salvaje, but after O’Farraday beat down Salvaje brutally after their match and Edd Stone made the save, there’s a distinct possibility that there may be a substitution <em>(spoiler: Edd Stone will wrestle instead of Tigre Salvaje)</em>.</p><p> </p><p> The best match of the night was Wolf Hawkins defeating One Man Army in the Main Event, ahead of the Syndicate vs Gauge / Parker, Doc Hammond and One Man Army Battlegrounds matchup, but running it close was Matt Hocking having his best singles match ever, defeating Roderick Remus in advance of his tag title shot with Pretty Okakura. Elsewhere, Greg Gauge took a regulation victory over Nate Johnson, while High Flyin Hawaiian continued his role of working hard in matches while taking defeat. TCW Battleground IV

Battleground IV was an event that started slowly (with Team Enygma getting a victory after Enygma hit an Enygma Cutter on Marc Speed in a match which would have been forgettable on TV), but one when hit Andrews / Bright / Brown defeating the Sinner Society the show really got going. Their victory was regulation, before Killer Shark appeared to hit a Shark Bite on Aaron Andrews. Spencer Spade got an upset victory over Sammy Bach before Mainstream Hernandez and Roderick Remus retained their Tag Titles over Matt Hocking and Pretty Okaura in THE BEST MATCH I HAVE EVER BOOKED IN TCW. That's a match featuring Matt Hocking, who's highlight under me has been a disappointing TV Title run, and Pretty Okura who hasn’t hit 30 overness yet. They had a phenomenal high flying match with Hernandez (who is the second most popular worker in the US, only behind Aaron Andrews) getting the pin after an Apparition #14 on Pretty Okura.

The Syndicate then defeated Gauge / Parker / Doc Hammond and One Man Army, in a match which I had to ignore the claims that it was over exposing Ernest Youngman. He can handle it. Wolf Hawkins took the victory in another great match, delivering a Full Moon Rising on One Man Army.

Compared to the previous two bouts the Main Event was slightly less finessed, but still a decent battle. There’s still a question over Mighty Mo’s psychology for longer matches, but this needed to be this long to tell the story. Mo really worked over Freddy Huggins, with the champion having to swing the momentum by taking to the ropes. Mo tried to finish the match with a Plunging Spinebuster, but Huggins managed to grab a leg, making the challenger collapse during the move, and Huggins rolled Mo up for the quick pin.

Noticeably elsewhere Queen Emily announced that there would be a tag team tournament going into Where Eagles Fear To Tread, and she wanted to see teams with at least one youngster in to develop the Tag Division. The two ladies she put in putting together the teams where debuting superstars Hannah Potter (as a girl next door face) and Angelle (Chrissie Angelle, as the polar opposite heel to Potter in a rather more risqué outfit). If this doesn’t help my tag division nothing will (although given that the division has just pulled out my best match ever, maybe it’s not in as bad as a state as I thought).

The enigma that is Enygma - why?

Much of the show happened as I expected - without Jay Chord in the opener, and him watching on without impacting, the match dragged, and we'll blame that one fully on the aging superstar Enygma. At the other end of the spectrum Mainstream Hernandez and Roderick Remus proved that that can have superb matches with any talented wrestlers, however well known they are, but even then the result was better than expected. Can I resist moving them back into singles action? We'll see,

In the main event Mighty Mo still proved he has a thing or two to learn about psychology, and Freddy Huggins isn't quite as able to walk an opponent through a longer match as Aaron Andrews of Wolf Hawkins did. The champion did retain, although it is expected not to be the last he sees of Mo.

Oh, there was another match that I didn't mention in the write-up - the remaining midcarders left on my roster combined for another TV quality match, with High Flyin Hawaiian actually getting a PPV victory - Nate Johnson unsurprisingly taking the defeat.

TCW Presents Total Wrestling:

To summarise this show – some stuff happened, and then Greg Gauge and Wolf Hawkins pulled out the best match seen in TCW for many years. The match was set up earlier in the night when Wolf and Joshua Taylor claimed that they were deserving of a Tag Team Title shot, before belittling the champions. Greg Gauge stood up for his colleagues, reminding Wolf Hawkins that he was banned from competing for the World Heavyweight Title, but stated that this didn’t mean that he was first in line for any other title that wanted to challenge for. They agreed to meet one on one in the ring and it was amazing, and Greg Gauge showed that he was man to build a company around for years to come. He did fall to the leader of The Syndicate, who used his colleagues to the fullest in an end to the match that saw Ernest Youngman land The Hit on Greg Gauge as the ref tried to get Ranger / Taylor / Hernandez and Remus to leave the side of the ring.

Earlier in the show Matt Hocking and Pretty Okakura claimed that after their near miss at Battleground IV they deserved another Tag Title shot, a declaration that the tag champions seemed to be happy with, with respect earned between all four men. Shockura did have a victory over Elliot Thomas and Tigre Salvaje, which had the double effect of reminding the crowd how they normally perform and making Thomas and Salvaje not seem worthwhile picks for anyone trying to find a tag partner for the upcoming tournament.

On that, Hannah Potter and Angelle started their search for tag teams, and the main focus of attention was Lenny Brown. Originally he was approached by Hannah Potter, but he as he seemed ready to agree Angelle poured herself over Brown, seemingly leaving him confused about where to go.

Freddy Huggins and Mighty Mo both earned victories – Mo opening the show against Akima Brave, and the champion Huggins teaming with Enygma against Team Tornado in a match which continues to suggest that Enygma is past it. Mo demanded another title shot, but Killer Shark also threw his hat into the ring – a challenge that Andrews was not happy with at all.

In a rematch from Battleground IV Spencer Spade took a clean victory over Sammy Bach with a Supreme Stunner, while Marc Speed unsuccessfully challenged for the TCW TV Title in an awkward match. Finally, Jay Chord cost El Hijo Del Neutron against Steven Parker, with the King of Kings blaming Del Neutron for Team Chord’s defeat against Team Enygma, even though he was only ringside. Troy Tornado tried to defend his man, but Jay Chord told Tornado that unless he ends his association with the masked man, he will make an enemy out of him.

TCW Presents Total Wrestling:

Match of the Night was mid show, when Spencer Spade defeated Doc Hammond in a great contest with an assist from Dazzling Dave Diamond. It was another part in the putting together of the Tag Team Tournament which kicks off next week, as Lenny Brown came out to save Doc Hammond, solidifying them as a team for the tournament.

I wasn’t expecting the match to be quite so good, otherwise I wouldn’t have put the technical masterclass between Greg Gauge and Ernest Youngman on afterwards, which killed the crowd a little. Greg Gauge was not happy to be asked to put Youngman over, so I’ll let you guess how well contract negotiations are going. Speaking of that, Killer Shark slammed Sammy Bach off stage after their opening match….

Flying Jimmy Foxx will team with Joffy Laine in the Tag Team Tournament following their victory over perennial TCW jobbers Maverick and Nate Johnson, as will The New Syndicate. Edd Stone promised Hannah Potter something exciting, while Angelle negotiated with Floyd Goldworthy to see Nick Booth and Chris Flynn teaming up.

In other matches, Huggins and Andrews teamed to defeat Human Arsenal and Benny Benson in… the main event? Look, this adhoc heel team has done well, but they’ve been defeated by lesser men far quicker recently. The faces were attacked by Killer Shark after the match, and a T-Bone Bright attempted save was stopped by Titan and Danny Darkness. Andrews and Killer Shark fought through the crowd, allowing Mighty Mo to appear to hit a Plunging Spinebuster to champion Freddy Huggins.

The earlier match between Enygma’s masked men and Camp Tornado never really happened – Troy Tornado and Davis Wayne Newton left El Hijo Del Neutron, and Enygma wasn’t going to fight with those odds. Del Neutron left the ring and was counted out, and when he got backstage received a Chord Cutter from Jay Chord (Del Neutron is now a face). Chord and Enygma made their match official for Where Angels Fear to Tread, when the second generation star will once more be fit enough to wrestle (thank goodness). Findlay O’Farraday defeated Kurt Laramee, and it looks like we’re heading to a Tag Title match at Where Angels Fear to Tread between champions Mainstream Hernandez and Roderick Remus, Shockura, and Syndicate members Wolf Hawkins and Joshua Taylor.

Killer Shark defeated Sammy Back in 5:49 (73)

Flying Jimmy Foxx and Joffy Laine defeated Maverick and Nate Johnson in 7:13 (56)

There’s a lot to get into there. Kurt Laramee, who recently left SWF, appeared on a one night deal, reluctantly jobbing to Findlay O’Farraday. El Hijo Del Neutron turned face and Enygma was once more involved in an awful match.

However… contract news. Greg Gauge just has one more show in TCW after signing for USPW in a $325k a month deal. I matched it, fully expecting him to re-sign with me, and I am absolutely gutted that he chose the opposition, although they are admittedly still the bigger organisation. I’ll talk about Gauge a little more after the next show, as we are also losing Sammy Bach. I was originally happy to release him, as I couldn’t justify his $200k contract, but after Gauge signed with USPW I offered a deal. That’s when USPW came in, and he’s also joining them for $240k a month. I might have to get more aggressive with them (although I refused to pay that for Bach). Bach has been happy putting over Killer Shark and Spencer Spade in the last few weeks, and has now gone, leaving with a 44-25 record under my booking, with PPV singles defeats to Jay Chord, Wolf Hawkins, Greg Gauge, Dazzling Dave Diamond and Spencer Spade. Despite being clearly past his best, he can still go in the ring, is supremely charismatic and leaves as the fifth most popular wrestler on my roster. USPW put him straight into a feud with Rich Money.

With two top faces gone (one expected, one not), there’s a few changes in line in the build up to Total Mayhem. Greg Gauge gets a DQ victory over Nick Booth on Saturday Night Wrestling after being attacked by Findlay O’Farraday and… you can see where this is going.

TCW Presents Total Wrestling:

The show started with Queen Emily and Findlay O’Farraday explaining Findlay’s attack on Greg Gauge on Saturday. Emily accused Greg Gauge of holding TCW to ransom behind the scenes, and she refused to allow wrestlers to think they were bigger than the company. Greg Gauge protested, but Emily sent Findlay to the ring to beat Gauge down. They had a brutal match, but it was going to only end one way, and it happened by O’Farraday suplexing Gauge over the rope, through a table that was left suspiciously close to the ring. After the match O’Farraday dragged out another table and powerbombed Gauge through it. As he left Steven Parker rushed out, calling the medics behind him, and that’s the last we will see of Greg Gauge in TCW (*sobs*).

In the Tag Tournament Edd Stone’s partner was revealed to be his nephew David Stone, and they advanced to the PPV with a victory over Ground and Pound. Later Doc Hammond and Lenny Brown teamed for the first time in victory over Chris Flynn and Nick Booth. After the match Hannah Potter and Angelle got into an argument, and it took Lenny Brown to split them up.

Next week HGC Tag Team Champions Seth Whitehead and Guillotine will take on The New Syndicate in the tournament, and we saw a preview with Ernest Youngman defeating Whitehead after Ranger goaded Guillotine into the ring, and promptly hit a Global Meltdown on Whitehead while the ref was removing Guillotine. Pity the two men in the match didn’t click. The other match will see Flying Jimmy Foxx and Joffy Laine take on Dazzling Dave Diamond and Spencer Spade, who argued in a backstage segment that was actually one of the best moments of the night.

Elsewhere Killer Shark defeated Akima Brave, and Mighty Mo defeated One Man Army, with it being announced that both victors will join Aaron Andrew to take on Freddy Huggins in a fourway match for the World Heavyweight title at the end of the month. Finally, knowing that we needed a quality match to headline the show we focused on the upcoming tag match, with Mainstream Hernandez defeating Matt Hocking and Joshua Taylor in a Triple Threat match to take the momentum into the PPV match

Findlay O’Farraday defeated Greg Gauge in 11:50 (74)

That’s it, Greg Gauge is gone. My fault – should have offered more money. He never faced Jay Chord in a feud that was going to be one of the main focuses of the show this year. We did have a debut as he exited – David Stone, who has been not achieving much in HGC for the last six months. He is the only person I’ve ever stolen for HGC (I either share wrestlers on PPA contracts or sign released workers), and his first match was pretty reasonable. HGC Tag Champions Seth Whitehead and Guillotine will also take part in the Tag Tournament – we’ll ignore the fact that they haven’t defended their titles this year after splitting up…

Overall, it was four's all round in the prediction competition, which really seems to show that my writing hasn't made it clear how involved Lenny Brown has been in everything around the TCW Tag Team Tournament in theh last few weeks.

Tyson Baine is still USPW champion, only wrestling adequate PPV matches. It had better be a good payoff.

Harvey Robbinfield leaves as his development contract at MAW expires in a classic case of I had never put him on my shortlist and didn't notice it was up. The fact that he was at MAW not HGC did mean he wasn’t one of my top prospects, but now MAW have got a TV deal it would have been nice to see what he could did with regular action. I’ve finally added him to my shortlist.

After feuding for all year, Killer Shark shocked Aaron Andrews by finally getting a pinfall victory on the former champion, after the ref missed a tag between him and Huggins that confused the face team. After hitting the Shark Bite on Andrews and making the pin, he followed it up with a Shark Bite on Freddy Huggins, as Mighty Mo backed away looking concerned.

In the TCW Tag Tournament The New Syndicate made relatively short work of HGC Tag Champions The Modern Dragons, with Ranger putting away Guillotine. Guillotine and Whitehead were only on the roster temporarily and will remain with HGC, but will be hopeful of a call up after Total Mayhem. Later in the show Dazzling Dave Diamond and Spencer Spade joined The New Syndicate in the semi-finals with victory over Flying Jimmy Foxx and Joffy Laine.

Elsewhere Steven Parker signed up for a match with Findlay O’Farraday at Where Angels Fear to Tread in a quest to avenge Greg Gauge – Parker and Human Arsenal pulling out a great match, before Findlay squashed Mystery Man (who was originally planned to be his PPV opponent before Greg Gauge left). Ed & David Stone teamed again in victory over Chris Flynn and Nick Booth, while Enygma was involved in another terrible multi-man match, where we learned that Masked Cougar would be teaming with El Hijo Del Neutron against Camp Tornado at the PPV. Finally, after last week’s triple threat match between members competing for the titles on Sunday their partners had their turn – Wolf Hawkins taking victory in a fantastic match (3rd best TV match ever).

Hannah Potter and Angelle continued to argue about who would lead a team to Tag Team victory – and Lenny Brown is really front and centre in this one, negotiating with both ladies and trying to make it about the teams involved, not them bickering. We also found out that T-Bone Bright would take on Danny Darkness at the PPV at a match better suited for TV.

Things I am excited about seeing at the PPV – the Tag Title match. The Tag Tournament. Jay Chord returning to the ring. Things I am not looking forward to seeing – Enygma in singles action. If anyone can carry him to a decent match, surely it’s Jay Chord, right?

Great things you like to see pop up in a computer game – Freddy Huggins, long time former tag partner of Edd Stone, has taken Edd’s nephew, new tag partner and fellow Canadian, David Stone, under his wing as a protegee. Having run an International Challenge in a couple of previous diaries I have plenty of Americans and Canadians, but my handful of Islanders, Mexicans and Japanese wrestlers mean I just don’t have the wresters to pull that off… yet.

Greg Gauge was the star of USPW Freedom Fight. Figures. However, he did tag with Frederique in defeat, albeit to James Justice and Nicky Champion, so he hasn’t gone straight in with the mega push.

10 matches at Where Angles Fear to Tread? That's unusual. Some decent looking matches on the card and... some other matches as well.

Very interesting last show with Shark taking the measure against Andrews and Huggins. Where will it lead in the title match 4-way.

TCW Where Angels Fear to Tread

The show kicked off with the semi-finals of the Tag Team Tournament. First off The New Syndicate defeated Total Stones in a technical contest where Youngman pinned David Stone, before Hammond & Brown took on Dazzling Dave Diamond and Spencer Spade in much more of a brawl. Hannah Potter and Angelle were ringside arguing with one another and those in the ring, and in Lenny Brown looked extremely frustrated as Angelle's shrieks got louder and louder. The two argued on the apron, and Dazzling Dave Diamond charged in to try and take advantage of the distraction, but Brown moved out of the way, leading to DDD knocking Angelle off the apron, before eating a Star Treatment from Brown to take the pin. Steven Parker against Findlay O’Farraday was the highest rated 1 vs 1 match on the card and was an even contest. Parker did hit the Future Shock on Findlay O’Farraday, and as it looked like Findlay might suffer his first pinfall defeat in TCW Parker was attacked by… Greg Gauge with an evil beard? As the ref called the disqualification “Greg Gauge” continued the attack, applying the Proton Lock to a weary Parker.

El Hijo Del Neutron teamed with Masked Cougar to take revenge over Camp Tornado, making the pin on his former leader, Troy Tornado, before T-Bone Bright squashed Danny Darkness in a throwaway match. Then we finally got to see Enygma vs Jay Chord, in the feud that seems to have lasted forever without Chord being able to wrestle. Originally I was hoping this was going to be a potential classic, but after the last few weeks I was happy for it to be a decent return to wrestling for Jay Chord. No interest in continuing this feud any longer, Chord winning with a Cradle Piledriver.

Before the final of the Tag Team Tournament we had the three-way for the Tag Titles, which was match of the night. I ignored my road agent telling me I was over-using Pretty Okakura, although he was the man that took the decisive pinfall from Wolf Hawkins. These men can brawl, fly and work technically, and all six men mixed up their moves wonderfully. Every single man hit a finisher, but as Okakura tried to capitalise by going to the top rope Joshua Taylor knocked him off, allowing Hawkins to hit the Full Moon Rising to become Tag Champions with Taylor for the first time.

With it being announced that the winners of the Tag Team Tournament would earn a title shot next month at Total Mayhem, it threw up the interesting prospect of an all-Syndicate Tag match, but it was not to be as Lenny Brown pinned Ernest Youngman after a Star Treatment - Hannah Potter was at ringside, but Angelle was not. That just left the World Heavyweight Title match, which did suffer from a lack of selling (from the heels), and Killer Shark being allowed to go on a little rampage. He hit a Shark Bite on both Mighty Mo and Aaron Andrews, before he was thrown from the ring by Freddy Huggins who stole the pin on Mo, despite the ref missing Mo managing to get his foot on the bottom rope.

Firstly, that wasn’t Greg Gauge, it was Matthew Keith. Their contracts came up at the same time, and I had to get creative with Keith’s contract. Stallings capped the salary I could offer and, with Keith being fairly unknown in America, this was far less than what he was being offered to renew with BHOTWG. I offered a 100% event bonus, 55% of merchandise sales and creative control, and the day after Greg Gauge told me he was leaving his brother told me that he would sign for me. Whether or not his brother had spoken to him first I’m not sure.

MOTN was the Tag Title match (again), with Hernandez and Remus losing to Wolf Hawkins and Joshua Taylor. Unless anything changes, they are set to take on Hammond & Brown, who took the inaugural TCW Tag Tournament with victories over Dazzling Dave Diamond & Spencer Spade and The New Syndicate. Steven Parker and Findlay O’Farraday outperformed their far more over colleagues Jay Chord and Enygma…

TCW Presents Total Wrestling:

Mighty Mo talked his way into a rematch with Freddy Huggins in the Main Event, and it was sensational. A little lack of psychology was barely noticeable as the two battled backwards and forwards. Unusually Mo went to the top rope, and that was his downfall, missing his dive before falling to the Huggins Kiss.

There were quality matches all over the place, with Mainstream Hernandez and Roderick Remus warming up for their tag title rematch with victory over Chris Flynn and Nick Booth. Edd Stone retained his TV Title over Ernest Youngman, who pushed him all the way, and Jay Chord took victory over One Man Army before coming down to the ring after the Main Event to inform Huggins that his reign would be over by the end of the month. Storyline-wise it would have meant sense for Jay Chord to defeat Mystery Man in the Mexican’s last match in TCW, but instead he proved a decent foil for Matthew Keith to take a debut victory. After the match he told Steven Parker that Greg Gauge had disrespected his father by taking the name “Gauge”, and Parker had added to that disrespect by being on his side. Only slightly better was Aaron Andrews defeating Dazzling Dave Diamond, who honestly just could not keep up with Andrews and was gassed after just six minutes. After the match Eddie Peak brought out Killer Shark and challenged Andrews to face the monster at Total Mayhem. Elsewhere T-Bone Bright set up a match with Dazzling Dave Diamond next week, while Troy Tornado tried to attack El Hijo Del Neutron but had to get away when Enygma intervened. Finally, Lenny Brown and Doc Hammond celebrated becoming the first winners of the TCW Tag Tournament, but were told by Matt Hocking that they weren’t true champions as Shockura were competing for the Tag Titles, and they’ll meet in the ring next week.

Amazingly, that 85 overall rating had a massive storyline penalty due to ongoing storylines, as I rearranged my storylines and I need to get a third up to a 70 rating (it’s stuck on 69 at the moment). It would have been one of my top rated shows ever without that, but I’m happy that I can get a penalty and still score in the mid-80’s. We’re on the build to Total Mayhem, and it looks like Huggins vs Chord and Andrews vs Killer Shark are two of the big matches set up.

Mystery Man leaves TCW, having only joined to offer a little support to Enygma in his feud with Jay Chord. It was meant to include a 1:1 match, but Chord’s injury but paid to that, and he was of far more value putting Matthew Keith over in his last match.

I did explore Sebastian Koller coming over to the US, but SWF swooped in and offered a larger contract than Stalling would consider. Koller has had two 99 rated matches, and was #2 on the Power 100, so the signing could be considered quite a coup. However, Edward Cornell has struggled in USPW (14-11 with an unsuccessful National Title Shot and no successful main show PPV bouts), so it will be interesting to see if he can push on.
