This is absolutely SENSATIONAL! Honestly, it’s already one of the best put together dynasties I’ve ever seen over multiple iterations of this game.

My only concern is how long you can keep so much writing up without suffering burnout, but I’ll be along for the ride every step of the way!

I honestly can’t wait for the next episode of Raw.

Wow, somehow missed this on the board.

I am impressed Gouge, very in-depth with some damn good storytelling! You have a rather minimal format, but it is still unique to this thread. I like the pseudo WWE.com recaps as well.

You got yourself a new reader, keep up the great work my friend.

Gosh :o Thank you so much guys! I really appreciate those incredibly kind words. Concern over burn out is what kept me from attempting a diary again for a long time but I think I have a good enough system that if I pace myself, I should be alright! It will just mean this diary may be a little bit more slower paced.

<p>Thanks guys! There's still a RAW and SD before the Royal Rumble but I appreciate the early predictions! MONDAY NIGHT RAW

January 19th 2004

RAW comes to you from the SunDome in Tampa, Florida and with less than a week away from the Royal Rumble, intensity is sure to be high as the roster prepares itself for one of the most prestigious matches in the WWE: the 30-Man Royal Rumble match which will determine WrestleMania's main event. In tonight's edition of RAW, two different matches will provide two very unique opportunities for both superstars who missed the opportunity to qualify and superstars who are currently in the match.

oRDXHU2.png

The Dudley Boyz have been in a heated feud with Evolution since surprisingly losing their tag team titles to Batista & Ric Flair at Armageddon. Though the brothers are intent on getting a rematch, they have yet to be granted one. Tonight they will take on another tag team who has been inching closer to a title shot, the young team Garrison Cade and Mark Jindrak.

The women's division is starting to heat up as last week it was announced that Molly Holly wil defend her WWE Women's Championship against three others - Trish Stratus, Lita and Jazz. Tonight, two of those women will go toe-to-toe with a week left before their title shot as Lita takes on Theodore Long's "baddest bitch" Jazz.

nsQyIup.png

WWE.com has just learned that that Mark Henry will be the 13th representative of RAW going into the Royal Rumble. Theodore Long has tried slingshotting Mark Henry into the wild main event scene of RAW, but has failed to capitalize on it after a loss to Shawn Michaels last week. Going into the Rumble, which Henry is sure to have an advantage in, Long's prized client will go up against Stevie Richards.

Spike Dudley controversially won a match against Batista by disqualification to qualify for the Royal Rumble last week. Being undefeated since returning from injury, Spike will take his biggest trial yet as he takes on World Heavyweight Champion Triple H, leader of Evolution, who is no doubt looking to get revenge on Batista's behalf.

KbC6YLu.png

With thirteen entrants for the Royal Rumble announced, the final two spots will be determined in a "last chance" tag team match. La Resistance, Val Venis & Lance Storm and Hurricane & Rosey are three tag teams who missed out on qualifying for the Rumble. Christian & Scott Steiner, certainly not a tag team, are another pair who will make up the odd couple fourth team of this match. Which duo will round RAW up going into the Rumble?

Another four way match will determine something much greater. With Chris Benoit of SmackDown being announced as the #1 entrant, RAW will have the unique opportunity to name the #30 entrant. Four top contenders have been put into this unique over the top rope battle royal match to determine this as Booker T, Chris Jericho, Kane and Goldberg go at it to determine who will get the biggest advantage the Royal Rumble has to offer.

GVbEAo2.png

In the main event, Rob Van Dam will finally get his chance at retribution as he takes on Randy Orton for the Intercontinental Championship. While Orton has been focused on taunting the "Hardcore Icon" Mick Foley, who we have not seen since "walking out" several weeks ago, the Legend Killer must have focus tonight as Mr. Monday Night attempts to take advantage of an opportunity that doesn't come often.

In addition, Shawn Michaels and Triple H will have their official contract signing for their World Heavyweight Championship match, which will be mediated by Sheriff Stone Cold Steve Austin. After knocking Shawn Michaels out with the dreaded sledgehammer, Triple H proposed that their match be a Last Man Standing match.

MONDAY NIGHT RAW

USF SunDome - Tampa, FL

10,411 fans *SELL OUT*

E3kfwJj.pngSvk9Uoy.png

JR: We are at the home of the University of Florida here in Tampa, Florida! And we welcome you as well as our worldwide audience to Monday Night RAW! King, two big matches tonight determine the fate of the Royal Rumble. Eight men have a chance to enter the Rumble with six days away. And four men have a chance to be the last man to enter.

King: You said it, JR! It's a big chance for someone to join ME and 29 others in the Royal Rumble, haha!

JR: Gee, wonder why you were left out of that battle royal, King! But let us not forget, tonight is the contract signing between Shawn Michaels and Triple H to make their Last Man Standing match official.

deaWBhv.pnggBUbAru.png

We cut back to the office of Eric Bischoff, who is not present. Rather, Jonathan Coachman and Theodore Long take residency with both having fullfilled short interim roles as General Manager. Theodore Long is wearing a neckbrace, standing still at the center of the room while Coach casually lounges at the desk, feet kicked up on it.

Jonathan Coachman: Looks like Eric never even showed up! Guess you're still in charge, Theodore.

Theodore Long: Oh no, I don't think so!

Long carefully walks over to an armchair, slowly sitting down with a look of struggle on his face, trying to maintain his posture to not hurt his neck.

Theodore Long: After last week, I want nothin' to do with it! Ba'lee that!

Jonathan Coachman: Well I don't either! I know I'm not getting stunned tonight.

Theodore Long: Damn him! You see what's going on here, playa'? Two brothers sitting in here afraid of being assaulted? Unprovoked I may add!

E7pkzpZ.pngEbznTxL.pngwCd2KGL.pngAgtPlLl.png

An aura fills the room as, without as much as a knock, Evolution pile into Bischoff's office. Coachman promptly swipes his feet off the desk, directing his attention to the four powerful men.

Triple H: I couldn't help but eavesdrop. You guys are afraid of a guy playing pretend? I mean really.... sheriff of RAW? What is he, Andy Griffith?

Randy Orton: We're not afraid of Austin.

Jonathan Coachman: So what are you suggesting, fellas? You're going to protect us from him?

After a short hesistation, Triple H cracks up with a snicker. The rest of Evolution follow suit. Coach and Long give each other a confused look.

Triple H: What the hell do we look like to you, Coach? We're not here to protect either one of you. Especially you.

Triple H, sour look on his face, points his finger right at Theodore Long. We can almost see a gulp seep down his covered up neck underneath the brace. Batista walks right up next to Triple H with his arms crossed, adding even more intimidation to Long.

Triple H: You think you can just shotgun your client into a match with ME? Consider yourself lucky that didn't happen. Because I would have made an example out of both of you.

Long slumps down in his seat in defeat. Triple H turns back to Coach, who similarly has fear in his eyes.

Triple H: Hit the bricks. Go do whatever your day job is. And since Bischoff is apparently too scared of Austin as well... we'll take shelter here. Because you can damn well be sure none of us are.

Jonathan Coachman: That's an interesting idea, Hunter. But one--

Batista: SHUT UP!

Coach immediately complies as Batista grips the back of Bischoff's leather chair. Causing Coach to lean backwards, Triple H leans in close to Coach's face.

Triple H: That wasn't a suggestion. Get the hell out.

Batista pushes the chair's back forward, springing Coach right up to his feet and causing him to stumble forwards. Without saying another word, Bischoff's unofficial assistant scurries away. Long, quick as he can, follows suit. The members of Evolution loosen up their seriousness as they get comfortable in the General Manager's office. Ric Flair struts towards the office chair that Coach was just launched off of and sits down. He looks up the the sky and let's off a loud...

Ric Flair: Woooooooooooo!

Back to ringside.

King: Wait a minute, Evolution is in charge tonight?!

JR: I'm not so sure if occupying an office puts them in charge of anything, King. But I'm sure their feelings of Sheriff Austin are mutual!

VL3aOj5.pngySLiMJy.pngKRExBgt.pngzyQNyeC.pngu6JKDST.png

The Dudley Boyz went into this match with only one thing on their mind and that was to make a statement. Knowing Evolution was watching from Eric Bischoff's vacant office and six days left before the Rumble, they wanted Batista and Flair to witness a decisive victory. Cade & Jindrak held their own and tried to muster up some underhanded tactics to get an advantage, but nothing was going to stop the Dudley Boyz from getting a victory here tonight. After knocking Jindrak out of the ring, Cade was met with a 3D which set him up to be pinned by Bubba.

Winners: The Dudley Boyz @ 7:03 (62)

</div>

VL3aOj5.pngySLiMJy.png

With Jindrak and Cade slowly retreating to the showers and the Dudley Boyz showing off with a short celebration, Bubba grabs a microphone and looks directly towards the stage. While Bubba talks on the stick, D-Von sets up a symbolical table behind them, presenting it to the crowd.

Bubba Ray Dudley: Listen up, Evolution! We've been kickin' your ass for the last month! And we want our shot! Flair and Batista, we're challenging you for the World Tag Team Championship at the Royal Rumble... and since you won the titles your way at Armageddon, we want our chance our way!

Bubba snaps behind him and begins slapping the table D-Von had set up with his palm, echoing it throughout the SunDome.

Bubba Ray Dudley: We want a TABLES MATCH!

<iframe width="75" height="75" src="

https://www.youtube.com/embed/w5hDiwavfv8" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Also Sprach Zarathustra blasts through the PA as the Dudleyz both lean up against the ropes in antipation. Ric Flair, indeed, steps out onto the stage. Depsite the boos for his association with Evolution, Flair still takes his time to strut and gloat as he normally does before giving the Dudleyz a proper response. Soon enough, he grabs a stick and looks directly to the ring, fired up as can be.

Ric Flair: You want a piece of us?! The Nature Boy Ric Flair.... WOOOOOOO! The Animal, Batista?! Is that what you want?!

Bubba Ray Dudley: You damn right!

Flair continues to milk his response on the stage, Bubba and D-Von continuing to grasp the top rope staring directly at the Nature Boy.

wCd2KGL.png

But when Evolution is around, having your back turned anywhere is never a good idea. And while the Dudley Boyz are waiting for an answer, Batista slides into the ring, seemingly coming from the crowd. D-Von is quickly clubbed in the back of the head, sending him over the top rope. Just as Bubba turns around, he is met with a brutal spinebuster right through the table.

Ric Flair: ....you're on! Wooooooooo!

Batista celebrates over the destruction he has left in the ring as we cut to commercial.

We cut to the interview set where Terri Runnels stands with Booker T.

Terri: Booker T, tonight you have a chance to earn the #30 spot in the Royal Rumble match. What can you tell me about your feelings going into the 30-man match in six days?

Booker T: Last year I got a chance to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, dawg. And this year I'm going to earn that chance again the hard way. Cause in six days I'mma throw sucka.... after sucka.... after sucka out of the damn ring and be your Royal Rumble winner. Now can you dig THAT?

King: You know, there's a big difference between Booker T and the other three competitors in that battle royal later tonight. You know what that is, JR?

JR: What's that, King?

King: They haven't been to prison, haha!

JR: Booker T made a mistake as a young man but he did his time and paid his dues. Booker T caught lightning in a bottle last year by earning his title shot at WrestleMania and I dare say he can do it twice.

<div style="padding: 5px; border: 4px solid #000000; margin:10px;background: #590000; max-width:670px;box-shadow: 0 4px 8px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2), 0 6px 20px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.19); background-image:url();background-position:center;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-size:contain;">

iR1B29F.pngKRExBgt.png9u61q5Q.png

Teddy Long has been quite aggressive in trying to attain success for his clients as of late. And while there is no doubt that Jazz is a scary individual, Lita is not one that backs down from intimidation. Jazz nevertheless used her pure strength and toughness to stay in control of this one and did everything she could to prove that it should have been her and only her receiving a title shot at Royal Rumble. But it was Lita who proved why she is one of the top divas in the WWE. After Jazz went from a Bitch Clamp, Lita was able to wiggle out and get in perfect position for a Twist of Fate. With Jazz down, Lita would climb to the top rope and hit her patented moonsault to score the victory.

Winner: Lita @ 6:55 (65)

</div>

iR1B29F.pngz8kjBcT.png

Lita's celebration in the ring doesn't last long as current WWE Women's Champion Molly Holly dashes into the ring. It was a week ago she learned she would not only defend her championship against one woman, but three at the Royal Rumble. And looking to go into the Rumble strong, Molly slides on into the ring and clubs Lita from behind with some forearm smashes. Lita drops to the ground as Molly begins pummeling her.

YqLY4FK.png

But not far behind is Trish Stratus, to a roaring crowd the most popular diva rolls up onto the apron and pulls Molly off her friend. Molly goes for a quick lariat that Trish is able to duck and knocks Molly silly with a Trish Kick. Trish walks right over to the downed Lita and attempts to help her up. As Lita starts to come to..... Twist of Fate!

King: Hey! What happened?!

Trish comes crashing down onto the mat. Looking over her surroundings, Lita realizes she's standing tall as the last woman standing over her three future competitors who are all sprawled out in the ring. Lita once again lets her music hit and celebrates in the ring, signifying a belt around her waist several times.

JR: Well King, I think we both know how close Trish and Lita are as friends but it will be every woman for themselves at the Royal Rumble.

King: And after what we just saw, I think it could be anyone's game!

zdCECC9.pngfLFeOi3.png

We cut to the back and once again are at the interview set, where Terri stands with Chris Jericho. Jericho is trying his best to straighten his expression, looking like he's trying not to laugh.

Terri: Oh man, did you see that?

Chris Jericho: Ouch!

It's now apparent Jericho found amusement in Trish Stratus, the woman that has stretched his heart in many different ways, being laid out by Lita. Terri shakes her head and tries to get things back on track.

Terri: Anyway, Chris you will be in a battle royal tonight to determine the #30 entrant into the Royal Rumble. You had a strong performance at the Rumble last year after coming in at #2, how do you feel going into it this year?

Chris Jericho: Never better, Terri. Last year I was screwed by that HAS BEAN, Shawn Michaels. This year, it's all about the ayatollah of ROCK 'N ROLLAH, BAY-BAY! Everyone knows I had the Rumble in the bag, and that's a fact, jack! So tonight I'm going to get my deserved #30 spot... a spot in the Rumble that has never won. But there's never, ever, eeeeeeeee-eeeee-ver been a #30 spot quite like me. And when I enter and throw the last few assclowns out of the ring, I'll be in the WrestleMania main event AGAAAAAIN!

<div style="padding: 5px; border: 4px solid #000000; margin:10px;background: #590000; max-width:670px;box-shadow: 0 4px 8px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2), 0 6px 20px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.19); background-image:url();background-position:center;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-size:contain;">

Pt2vrZw.pngKRExBgt.png29XXJrY.png

Mark Henry came into this match hungry for a win, one week removed from losing to Shawn Michaels as well as his chance for a WWE Championship match. Though Henry may be a bit away from being a mainstay in the main event scene, he proved here against Stevie Richards that he is still a threat. Stevie never stood a chance as the bigger, meaner, nastier Henry threw the unofficial General Manager of Sunday Night Heat around like a ragdoll before putting him away with the World's Strongest Slam.

Winner: Mark Henry @ 3:21 (52)

</div>

deaWBhv.pngPt2vrZw.png

Following the quick match, Theodore Long carefully climbs into the ring, keeping his neck brace in mind, and stands next to his client with a mic in hand.

Theodore Long: Now I hope you're all paying attention! Because right here, you're looking at the winner of the 2004 Royal Rumble. Now ba'lee that, playa!

<iframe width="300" height="150" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/r00Vx1Odmig" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

C3P7bCv.png

Back from commercial, Spike Dudley is just making his entrance for one of the biggest matches of his life against Triple H. The Game's music plays not too long after.

<iframe width="75" height="75" src="

https://www.youtube.com/embed/fTuHO7uaf9s" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

And out comes Triple H, who makes his way out to the ring for his match coming up against the little Dudley brother, Spike.

King: Oh man. And now Triple H is going to take care of that idiot Spike Dudley!

JR: Little Spike Dudley is one of the smallest dogs in the yard, King, but he packs a bite that'll come back to hurt you. He's at a serious disadvantage here tonight, that's for damn certain. But you can always count on Spike Dudley to put up a fight no matter how big the challenge is!

King: But come on. You can't seriously think Triple H is scared of Spike?!

JR: I would wager that Triple H will not take Spike seriously in any form, but that's where Spike could hurt you.

Triple H has by now made himself comfortable in the ring, but it looks like we're not jumping into action right away as Triple H has a microphone in his hand.

Triple H: I'm going to give you a chance, Spike. Before I embarrass you in front of millions of people and lay you out in the middle of this ring, I'm going to give a chance to apologize for your actions last week.

The fans immediately boo, knowing exactly what Triple H is referring to. Spike simply puts his hands up on his hips.

Triple H: You WEASELED yourself into the Royal Rumble match. You took a cheap win over Batista, a man everyone knows you can't beat and ran to the bank with it. But right here.... you have a chance to make it right. I'm giving you the opportunity to walk away. Leave the ring, hit the showers. Have some pride. And while you're at it.... forfeit your win from last week.

King: What a great idea! What do you think, JR?

JR: I don't think anything is great about this, King. This is desperation from The Game, no doubt about that.

King: You really think Triple H is afraid of Spike Dudley?!

JR: I sure don't, King. But I do know Triple H is bitter over one of his Evolution members being left out of the Rumble.

Triple H: What do you say, Spike? Walk away like a man or be made to show what a joke you are in front of millions of people?

Spike Dudley throws his hands up in the air and begins walking towards the ropes. The fans loudly jeer as it appears Spike is taking Triple H's advice. But it was all to be a ruse, as Spike quickly launches off the ropes and hits his patented headbutt to Triple H's sternum!

<div style="padding: 5px; border: 4px solid #000000; margin:10px;background: #590000; max-width:670px;box-shadow: 0 4px 8px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2), 0 6px 20px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.19); background-image:url();background-position:center;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-size:contain;">

E7pkzpZ.pngKRExBgt.pngC3P7bCv.png

It's always something special seeing Triple H in the ring with a vastly lesser opponent. We know Triple H has this in the bag, right? This guy doesn't stand a chance! But what if? What if Spike Dudley were to pin Triple H in the middle of the ring six days before he is to defend his championship against Shawn Michaels?

Alas... that was not going to happen here tonight. Despite Spike sneak attacking Triple H to start this one off and getting a little bit of offense, Triple H was still able to make very quick work of Spike. The runt of the Dudley litter tried all that he could, but he nothing he had could stop Triple H's momentum. Within a few minutes, Triple H would put Spike away with the Pedigree.

Winner: Triple H @ 4:10 (56)

</div>

We cut to the dressing rooms where Scott Steiner and Christian are getting ready for their tag team match later tonight in order to determine the final two spots in the Rumble. As Steiner flexes in the mirror, Christian finishes taping up his wrist and walks over to Big Poppa Pump. Not noticing Christian is even there, Christian lightly slaps Steiner's shoulder with the back of his hand.

Christian: Look, I really need you to understand that is our last chance. I can't miss this Royal Rumble for the world! You hear the peeps out there? They're counting on you to not screw this up.

Steiner snaps his body back around and gets right in Christian's face.

Scott Steiner: Hey you listen to me PUNK ASS BITCH, I ain't the one anyone needs worrying 'bout! If you keep your mouth shut and let the largest arms in the world take care of business, you'll get your shot in the RoyRumble. But that's just step number one because you see, you already have a 1 in 30 chance of winning the RoyRumble. But you see, you put Big Poppa Pump in your the mix, and your chances go down to 0 in 30!

Christian: Is that right?

Scott Steiner: You damn right, punk! What are you gonna do 'bout it anyway, HUH?

Steiner grabs Christian by the sleeveless shirt he's wearing. Christian puts his hands up in submission.

Christian: Take it easy! We're supposed to be partners tonight!

Scott Steiner: Partners MY ASS! I don't need you, punk!

Steiner lets go of his grip and storms out of the dressing room. Christian shakes his head in disbelief and follows suit.

JR: By god, King. The ring is going to full enough tonight during that tag team match and I don't think those two egos can fit in, quite frankly.

King: Christian needs this win tonight, JR! It's not right that he's been left out of the Royal Rumble!

JR: You could make that argument for any of these eight men, King. And this will be Christian's third chance, I should remind you.

We cut back to the interview set where Terri is now with the "Big Red Machine" Kane for his thoughts on tonight's battle royal.

Terri: Kane.... tonight you have a chance to become #30 in the Royal Rumble. You're currently the record holder for eliminating the most amount of men in the Rumble, but you have yet to win it. How are you feeling going into tonight?

Kane grits his teeth and slowly turns his head towards Terri.

Kane: What... did you.... say?

Terri: Your..... thoughts going into the Rumble?

Kane: I have yet.... to win it?

Terri: Well, yes, you have yet to win a Royal Rumble match.

Kane: ARE YOU MAKING FUN OF ME?

Kane slaps the microphone out of Terri's hands and tries to snatch her as well, but she shrieks and ducks out of the way. Quickly retreating, Kane looks into the camera.

Kane: AAAAARRRRRGH! The ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH...... WILL BE MINE!

Kane shoves the cameraman onto his back as we see Kane's legs march off screen.

This was a cluster of a match from the start. All eight men knew this was the absolute final chance to get into the Royal Rumble this year, which is one of the most important matches in the WWE. And with the Dudleyz taking on Batista and Flair at the Rumble, perhaps a win here could also elevate a team to tag team contendership. Well, at least for three of them. It was obvious from the getgo that Chrsitian and Steiner didn't gel as a team and spent much of the match arguing with each other.

Referee Jack Doan did his best to keep things under order, but it certainly did not take long for the match to get out of control. After Val Venis nearly got a win on Rob Conway, Rene Dupree breaks up the pin. Lance Storm hits the ring right after to protect his partner which leads to every man in the ring getting involved.

After a few minutes of brawling, Dupree and Rosey end up brawling on the outside of the ring along with Val Venis and Christian. Lance Storm hits Rob Conway with a superkick to take him out of the equation but Hurricane surprises him with a goozle! The Hurricane teases finally hitting someone with a chokeslam as Lance Storm attempts to wiggle out of it. But nobody saw Scott Steiner coming as he gets behind Hurricane, wraps his big arms aorund both him and Storm, and drives both of them down for a Complete Shot, knocking the two's heads against each other. Steiner covers Hurricane and while Jack Doan has no idea anymore who the legal man is, he counts the three!

Winners: Christian & Scott Steiner @ 8:20 (53)

</div>

JR: I'm not sure who the legal man was there, folks, but I'm sure of one thing. Christian and Scott Steiner are heading to the Royal Rumble.

King: Look at all those peeps standing on their feet, JR! Second chances are really a good thing sometimes!

JR: Well King, I believe this was a third chance for Christian. But a big win nevertheless!

We cut back to Eric Bischoff's office to find Evolution standing with Stacy Keibler and Jackie Gayda - who we have not seen since Molly Holly's attack two weeks ago. Both women have a determined look on their face.

Stacy Keibler: Two FRUIT baskets?

Keibler shakes her head in disbelief, referring to the two baskets Jonathan Coachman was ordered to send to her and Jackie for sympathy.

Stacy Keibler: That is what is supposed to make us feel better!? You know, we love to entertain out there....

Jackie and Stacy both suggestively sway their bodies, Keibler bending over and running her hands up her legs. Orton and Batista, sitting in the background, have a look of pure joy on their face from the show.

Stacy Keibler: ...but if that's all we're going to get, we may as well just quit!

Triple H looks at Flair in bewilderment, who is right next to him, and the two begin to chuckle.

Jackie Gayda: Oh, this is funny to you?! What, you don't have respect for women, is that it?

Triple H: Now, now. That's not true! Matter of fact, me and the guys have been talking awhile about adding some flavor to Evolution. You know... take a look around this room and you see every single championship you can win on RAW... except one.

Keibler and Gayda shoot each other a glance. Both immediately cross their arms and their expressions do not change for the better.

Stacy Keibler: Well that definitely doesn't affect us, now does it?

Triple H: Okay... how about this?

Triple H slightly turns around and motions for Batista and Orton to come over. They quickly comply, filling the screen up next to Triple H. Batista and Orton both admire the women, looking at them like two pieces of meat.

Triple H: You want some recognition? Here's the opportunity of a lifetime. Dump the losers you're with now and start coming to the ring in style.

Triple H shoots his thumbs back towards Batista and Orton.

Triple H: Stacy, I'm giving you the chance to offer your managerial services to "The Animal" of Evolution, Batista.

Stacy forms a slight smile on her face and nods as Batista takes it upon himself to wrap his arm around her.

Triple H: As for you, Miss Jackie... you will now offer your managerial services to "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton.

Orton, like Batista before him, invites himself to wrap his arm around Jackie. Jackie looks a little bit more hesistant than Stacy, but goes along with it.

Triple H: Congratulations. You now you have two guys who could have any woman they want choosing you to represent them on RAW. Anything else?

Stacy and Gayda both look towards each other. While Gayda still looks uncomfortable, Stacy firmly shakes her head with a smile.

Stacy Keibler: Oh no, this will do.

The guys of Evolution are all smiles as we cut back to the announcer booth.

King: Waaaah, I'm a jealous man, JR! What a win for Evolution!

JR: Not sure if it was a "win" as much as it was a demand but nevertheless, Evolution gains two beauties in the form of Jackie Gayda and Stacy Keibler. In other news, folks, our four way battle royal for the #30 spot is coming up next. But first, a word from Goldberg.

fLFeOi3.pngceCEhuG.png

Terri: Goldberg, we are moments away from a battle royal to determine the #30 entrant in the Royal Rumble. You lost the World Heavyweight Championship last month and this looks to be your best chance in getting it again. What are your thoughts?

Goldberg simply glances at Terri and walks off, not saying a word. Terri throws her arms up in confusion.

King: Cat got his tongue, JR?!

JR: Goldberg has always been a man of few words, King. And since coming back from an unfair suspension, I think anything on his mind is going to be answered in the ring here tonight!

These are four of the absolute best candidates to win the Royal Rumble this Sunday and it showed. Battle royals never tend to last a long time but this one went up to the eight minute mark before anyone was eliminated from the match. Booker T would be eliminated first by Kane after a devastating chokeslam, getting some retribution for last week. Jericho would be eliminated not long after by Goldberg following a spear.

Goldberg and Kane, who have history from their triple threat with Triple H at Armageddon, brawled in the ring with several failed attempts to knock the other big man over the top rope. At one point, Kane had Goldberg leaning against the ropes and attempted to clothesline him right over. Goldberg would however catch Kane and using his monster strength, lift Kane right up and over the top rope!

Winner: Goldberg @ 10:40 (76)

</div>

JR: By God, Goldberg is #30 in the Royal Rumble! And if you hadn't already had Goldberg down as a favorite going into the Rumble, you can damn well be sure he is now!

King: You know what, JR? You're right, I should have been in that match! That's a big advantage to have and it being on Golberg?! Waaaah!

Mick Foley.

In 1998, he became a hardcore legend.

In 1999, he became a WWE champion.

In 2000, he became a WrestleMania main eventer.

And in 2003, for this hardcore legend, he became.... a coward.

A coward too afraid to face a true legend. The new hardcore legend. Randy Orton!

Randy Orton. A true legend of our time.

This message was paid for by the friends and supporters of Randy Orton.

These two had a heck of a match at Armageddon and RVD had nothing but revenge on his mind. Winning the title one week before the Rumble would be a huge loss to Evolution, who currently boasts holding every single male championship. This was a physical, emotional battle with an even amount of offense. Jackie Gayda, as promised prior, did indeed accompany Randy Orton to the ring but did very little in the way of either support or Evolution's usual dirty tactics. Matter of fact, it might have been an advantage for RVD seeing as Orton's usual accomplice, Ric Flair, was not ringside to offer continuous distractions.

With the fans on his side and a wave of momentum, RVD would eventually get the upper hand and lay Orton out with a quick spin kick. With Orton laid out on the mat, RVD set himself in position to get on the top rope for the Five Star Frog Splash and put this one away. But suddenly...

<iframe width="75" height="75" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/dy69XXjOnNA" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

JR: What?!

King: Is he... is he really here?!

JR: What is going on here? That is Mick Foley's entrance music playing from the stage! And everyone in this arena is stunned!

Confused over Foley's music playing or why he would be interfering when he's about to win, RVD hesitates on the Five Star and looks up at the stage in anticipation as to what is about to happen. While the referee is also distracted over the commotion...

MssAcIZ.png

Jackie Gayda leaps up onto the apron and shakes the ropes with all her might. RVD loses his balance and low blows himself on the turnbuckle. Orton springs up to his feet and hits RVD with a devastating RKO with RVD propped on the top rope. The music quickly shuts off as Orton falls on top of RVD and scores the pinfall.

Winner: Randy Orton @ 15:57 (74)

</div>

King: What in the world just happened here, JR?!

JR: I'll tell you what happened, it was a damn set-up King! A classic Evolution set-up and Randy Orton walks away still the Intercontinental Champion!

Orton, with Gayda wrapped around his side, slowly backs up the ramp with a smarmy smile painted across his face. RVD rolls around in confusion in the ring, being just moments away from winning himself. We cut to commercial.

The fans immediately go bonkers as the glass shatters and that ATV comes roaring out onto the stage. The Sheriff of RAW has had very little reason to interfere in any matters tonight, but saving his energy to keep this very personal contract signing from getting physical may have been for the best.

JqStQz4.png

We see now that the ring has had a red carpet rolled out with a table and two chairs set up in the center. Austin observes the paperwork on the table for a short moment before grabbing a mic.

Stone Cold Steve Austin: Well since Eric Bischoff won't show his yellow bellied face around here anymore, it seems to me that Sheriff Austin is the best choice to mediate the contract signing between Triple H and Shawn Michaels. I said it's time for the contract signing. Last week, Triple H saw it fit to not only attack Shawn Michaels from behind but propose a Last Man Standing match. So in this contract right here, we'll make such a proposition official. But if either of you two sonva bitches think tonight is going to be the night to start your match, EH EH, 'cause I ain't allowing this here table to be broken on my watch!

Austin slaps the contract table with his free hand.

Stone Cold Steve Austin: So without further ado, let's get this contract signing started.

<iframe width="75" height="75" src="

For the second time tonight, Triple H's theme blares across the PA as the fans jeer their World Heavyweight Champion. Triple H, still in his ring gear with an Evolution shirt thrown over him, enters like he would a world title match.

E7pkzpZ.png

Stone Cold leans up against the ropes, staring "The Game" down as he takes his time coming down to the ring - possibly his last RAW entrance as World Heavyweight Champion. On his way to the ring, Triple H grabs a microphone for himself.

Triple H: Sheriff Andy, good to see you.

Triple H chuckles at his own, tired joke as Austin has the same expression on his face as before.

Triple H: You know, Steve, I'm not really sure why you feel like you need to be out here. Shawn and I are grown adults who can take of business our damn selves. But if you really want a front row ticket... make yourself comfortable.

Stone Cold Steve Austin: What? Did I ask you your opinion? Did I ask you to have input on how RAW is run? Sheriff Steve Austin is out here to make sure the main event of the Royal Rumble ain't compromised and you leave this ring in one piece. And that goes for both of ya'. Now if you're done whinin' like a little girl, let me bring out the challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship, Shawn Michaels!

<iframe width="75" height="75" src="

https://www.youtube.com/embed/0NhaHnVFE6I " frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The Tampa crowd goes into a frenzy as the Heartbreak Kid makes his entrance, similarly milking a reaction as if he's walking down for his World Heavyweight Championship match right now.

zLr4ffi.png

HBK wastes not time as he gets onto the apron, goes right towards the table and haves a seat. Looking over the contract, HBK looks towards his former best friend.

Shawn Michaels: You sure you want to do this, pal of mine? You want to go into a match where the object is to beat the hell out of each other to such a degree that one of us won't stand up?

Triple H simply smirks towards Michaels.

Shawn Michaels: Well that's just fine with me. Because after these last few weeks, I'm sick of Evolution this, Evolution that. I'm not only going to win that World Heavyweight Championship, I'm going to put you away.

Shawn Michaels, without hesitation, grabs the pen on the table and jots down his signature on the dotted line. Triple H continues to stand still.

Stone Cold Steve Austin: Well? Have a seat, Triple H.

Triple H does not budge, continuing to stand still.

Stone Cold Steve Austin: I said have a seat. What? You don't want to sign? What? Are you backing out? What? What? What? What?

Austin shouts in Triple H's face, who has many looks of contemplation going through his head.

Stone Cold Steve Austin: You made the challenge, you own it! Sit your ass down!

Triple H grabs the chair and throws it across the ring.

Stone Cold Steve Austin: Is that what how it's going to be? You're going to back down? You're going to back away? What?!

Triple H slams his fists down on the table and stares Shawn directly in the eyes.

Triple H: I DON'T WANT THIS! Shawn, you have no idea how much it pains me to have to put you down for good. This is going to end your career. And deep down inside, Shawn.... there's something in me that still cares enough about you that I can't allow myself to do this.

King: You hear that JR?! Triple H doesn't want to hurt him!

JR: Oh yeah, what a nice guy, King! You and I both know Triple H is full of it here! Sounds like he's beginning to regret that challenge he laid out!

Stone Cold Steve Austin: So what are you saying exactly?

Triple H: I'm saying me and Shawn will face off at Royal Rumble, but I'm going backwards on that stipulation. I'm the one that made it after all. And out of the goodness of my heart, I want it off the record.

Shawn Michaels slowly rises from the desk and gets right into Triple H's personal space.

Shawn Michaels: You mean to tell me... the HELL you've put me through over the last year and a half.... you mean to tell me there's something in that black heart of yours? Well if you don't want to hurt me, that's fine. Cause I sure as hell want to HURT YOU!

Triple H backs up, putting his hands out to waive off the pumped up Shawn Michaels.

Triple H: Look you can think what you want, Shawn. This isn't about your career, this is about batting a fly down. I'm looking at walking into WrestleMania as World Heavyweight Champion for a second time in a row. And you're in the way of that, my friend. That's all there is to it. We'll wrestle at the Royal Rumble in a standard singles match. Revise the contract.

Austin looks out to the crowd, who are loudly jeering Triple H's change of heart.

Stone Cold Steve Austin: If you think Triple H is full of crap, give me a HELL YEAH!

The crowd rightly echos back to Austin. Triple H grits his teeth in frustration at the Floridian crowd.

Stone Cold Steve Austin: Seems to me everyone in Tampa, Florida thinks you're a lying sack of crap.

Triple H aggressively shakes his head as he walks back towards the contract table, eyeing the paperwork on the table.

Triple H: I did everything I could to prevent what I'm going to have to do to you to put you down, Shawn. But if you want to make this that personal, I just hope you realize what the end game is here. And that's you stretchered out for your last ever title shot, last ever PPV, last ever match.

Triple H aggressively signs the contract and throws the pen across the ring.

Stone Cold Steve Austin: Well whatever garbage your spewing out your mouth don't matter, the match is now official. Triple H and Shawn Michaels will wrestle in a Last Man Standing match at the Royal Rumble and that's the bottom line, 'cause Stone Cold said so!

Triple H continues to stand at the table as Shawn taunts the Cerebral Assassin, motioning the title belt around his waist.

<iframe width="75" height="75" src="

King: Waaah!

JR: It's Goldberg, King! What in the hell is Goldberg doing out here?!

ceCEhuG.png

Goldberg does in fact march down the stage, heading right towards the ring as a confused Austin, Triple H and Michaels ponder what Goldberg could possibly want. As Goldberg stands tall in the ring. He looks at the contract table, then at Triple H's championship. Without a second thought, he races towards Triple H and takes the champion down with a vicious spear!

King: Hey! He can't do that to Triple H!

JR: Goldberg making a statement here tonight, it looks like he hasn't forgotten about where that championship Triple H holds came from!

HBK has no idea how to react as his future opponent lay on the ground like a heap of garbage. And he similarly has no time to react as Goldberg comes for him next, giving him a spear and knocking the Heartbreak Kid out of the eqaution!

King: What's that idiot doing?!

JR: It's clear to me that Goldberg wants the World Heavyweight Championship back, King. And if he wins the Royal Rumble, I think we know who might be "next"!

Sheriff Austin, who was mediating the contract signing to avoid physical confrontation, steps in to stop Goldberg. Toe kick and STUNNER----but it's not to be! Goldberg, in epic strength, counters the Stunner by holding his body up and flinging Austin right through the contract signing table!

JR: By God! And down goes Austin!

King: Who is going to stop this guy?!

JR: Goldberg has taken out three of the biggest dogs in the yard and what a sight this is six days before the Rumble.... Goldberg is standing tall in the ring! Folks, we'll see you Sunday in Philly for the Royal Rumble!

SMACKDOWN

January 22nd 2004

It's the "go home" show before the Royal Rumble as SmackDown lands at the Berry Center in Cypress, Texas!

vPjMbw3.png

Last week saw Nunzio run in and cost Rey Mysterio his match against A-Train in his hometown of San Diego. A #1 contender for the Cruiserweight championship has yet to be named but we can only assume that Nunzio and the FBI are looking to score some gold with their pursuit of Mysterio. He's going to have to earn a shot if he wants it however as he goes up against one of the most decorated cruiserweight players on SmackDown, Billy Kidman.

Last week, Paul Heyman had a rare heart-to-heart with Bradshaw where he voiced how much potential the APA member has. With Ron Simmons seemingly forced into retirement after suffering a broken leg, Heyman told Bradshaw that now more than ever is his chance to take control of his career, which he feels has been stagnant despite Bradshaw's ability. In a title match against the Big Show, Bradshaw would be quickly dispatched of, perhaps proving Heyman's case wrong. Tonight, Bradshaw will go up against another big, mean Team Heyman member and a man Heyman has under a microscope due to his gambling problem, A-Train.

HruqFXH.png

John Cena has been on a big wave of momentum going into the Royal Rumble, picking up several hard fought victories to the chagrin of Paul Heyman. Tonight he will take on his biggest challenge yet as he goes up against reigning United States Champion, The Big Show, in a non-title match. In a WWE.com exclusive, Paul Heyman named The Big Show as Farooq's replacement in the Royal Rumble. So this will be a match against two big contenders going into the showdown in 3 days!

Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty secured themselves a tag team title shot at the Royal Rumble, a big opportunity for the two friends who have never held gold together. Rikishi will however be in singles action tonight as he goes up against Team Heyman member, the young Matt Morgan, who oozes potential but has yet to break out.

b65FOi0.png

SmackDown ended on a shocking note last week when Chavo Guerrero, who many expected to turn on his uncle due to his attitude as of late, embraced Eddie at the end of the show. The uncle and nephew duo has no doubt been one of the absolute best teams on SmackDown but Chavo's jealousy over Eddie's popularity has caused a huge rift in the team. With Kurt Angle attempting to mediate the team back to normal, whatever he did seems to have worked. Tonight, Los Guerreros will go up against a common foe of theirs, the World's Greatest Tag Team.

Torrie Wilson and Dawn Marie have had a wild year together, from Dawn Marie accidently killing Torrie Wilson's father to their feud over Torrie's playboy cover shoot. Last week, Torrie was named a two time Playboy playmate as it was revealed that she and Vince McMahon's "consultant" Sable will be on the cover! Dawn Marie did not take kindly to this news last week, leading to a cat fight in front of the chairman of the board, who would find himself sneak attacked by Ernest "The Cat" Miller.

xj6ZLfb.png

In the main event, Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit - two men who know each other extremely well - will go head-to-head on the road to the Royal Rumble. Both men are entered in the Rumble and on paper, are huge candidates to win it. Benoit however has a huge disadvantage of being the #1 entrant. Benoit will nevertheless have an opportunity to go into the Rumble with momentum by knocking out Angle, who has guaranteed a win for his country.

Quick Picks:

Billy Kidman vs. Nunzio

Bradshaw vs. A-Train

John Cena vs. The Big Show

Rikishi vs. Matt Morgan

Torrie Wilson vs. Dawn Marie

Los Guerreros vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team

Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle

THURSDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN

Berry Center - Cypress, TX

11,000 fans *SELLOUT*

52OqZFF.pngxLkTxFz.png

SmackDown opens up as it has many, many times in the past few weeks. Paul Heyman stands in the center of the ring with the WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar, standing tall behind him. We are just days from the Rumble where Lesnar will put his title on the line against an unlikely challenger, Hardcore Holly. You can tell from Heyman's expression, prior to even opening his mouth, he has a lot on his mind. Not just from the title match, but from the Royal Rumble itself. Heyman lifts the microphone to his lips and his booming yet grating voice echos over the Texan audience.

Paul Heyman: Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman. And I am the General Manager of SmackDown! And this here is the WWE Champion, BUH-ROCK! LES---

<iframe width="75" height="75" src="

https://www.youtube.com/embed/vDPJAfLTqk4" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Heyman doesn't get very far in whatever speech he was planning when the theme of Hardcore Holly interupts him abruptly. Holly has never exactly been one to light up an arena through his career, but his determination to not only end Brock Lesnar's title run but end his career has gotten a lot of fans on his side. Holly steps out onto the stage, shirtless with a pair of jeans and hands firmly placed on his hips. Heyman scrunches his face as Lesnar looks on at his future opponent, who last week he made pass out to the Brock Lock. Holly retrieves a microphone.

EoB6KoX.png

Hardcore Holly: Paul, I want you to take a good look behind you.

Holly stretches out his free arm to points towards the WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar. Heyman complies, looking towards his champion and back to Holly, smug smile growing over his face. Holly continues.

Hardcore Holly: That's the LAST time you're going to see that championship over Brock's shoulder, Heyman. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Brock, you put me on the shelf for over a year. You nearly cut my career to it's end. And I'm fixin' to make up for the lost time. Not only am I going to take that WWE Championship from you... I'M GONNA BREAK YOUR NECK!

Lesnar's expression remains unchanged in the ring, not intimidated by his challenger in the least. Heyman leans up against the ropes.

Paul Heyman: Oh.... I almost forgot! Hardcore Holly, the challenger to - let me finish what I say was saying before - the WWE Champion, BUH-ROCK! LES-NAR! It sure is nice of you to grace us with your precense here tonight because I think you've forgotten something. I ordered you locked in a room last week until your match, not for my and Brock's safety, but for your own. But since I need to remind you, you were placed on a restraining order where you could not come into contact with Brock Lesnar. And you are breaking that restraining order AGAIN!

Holly, still standing on the stage and clearly nowhere close to engage in physical contact with Brock, stands on the stage with his arms thrown out in confusion. Suddenly, four boys in blue appear from the back and surround Hardcore Holly. Lesnar grins in glee as Holly is detained.

Paul Heyman: Officers, get this man OFF MY SHOW! You'll have a few days to think about your match with BUH-ROCK LES-NAR... in a jail cell!

Holly's arms are put behind his back and Holly is escorted off stage before he can get another word in. He grits his teeth and stares at Brock with those cold killer blue eyes before he disappears behind the curtain.

JcOVW7O.pngrtGzZut.png

Cole: This is ridiculous! Hardcore Holly violated no restraining order, partner. Brock Lesnar attacked Holly himself - from behind - last week!

Tazz: Sure but he still knowingly violated it walking out on the stage tonight!

Cole: Give me a break, Tazz! We're four days away from the Royal Rumble and Heyman wants Holly nowhere near him or Brock going into the PPV. But there's nothing they can do about this Sunday, partner. Hardcore Holly WILL get his title shot.

Tazz: He will, Cole, but until then - no cheap shots! Both guys are going in fresh and Heyman is making sure of it.

Cole: Is that why Brock locked Holly in the Brock Lock last week for no damn reason?!

The cruiserweights open the show as they know how to best with some fast action. Kidman is definitely the much more decorated competitor and although he hasn't seen the success he use to have in the division, he dominates this one against the much smaller Nunzio. The Italian Stallion attempts to keep the match on the ground while attempting to play dirty, but Kidman stays in control for much of the match.

x8gOGek.png

It doesn't take long for shenanigans to start taking place however as Nunzio's stablemate and FBI member, Johnny "The Bull" Stamboli, joins ringside. Although initially just there to cheer Nunzio on, as he protested to referee Brian Hebner, Bull himself gets involved after Kidman lays Nunzio out with a BK Bomb. Kidman climbs to the top rope to hit his fantastic Shooting Star Press, but the Bull immediately climbs up onto the apron. The referee immediately threatens to disqualify Nunzio for Stamboli's involvement, but he does not physically get involved and leaps back down to the floor. Kidman hesistates, watching the commotion unfold, before going for the Shooting Star. But the moment of hesistation gave Nunzio enough time to recover from Kidman's siginature move and roll away from the Shooting Star. Kidman lands badly on his knee and while he struggles to climb back to his feet, Nunzio climbs to the second turnbuckle and leaps off on the prone Kidman to hit the Sicilian Slice for the win!

Winner: Nunzio @ 7:32 (42)

</div>

xMxwrTv.pngVSaL2GZ.pngx8gOGek.png

Following the match, Nunzio and the Bull continue to lay assault on Kidman and perhaps send a message to Kidman's longtime friend, Rey Mysterio. Laying the boots to the cruiserweight, Kidman is too hurt to fight back as he winces with each stamp from the pack of dogs.

Ofg9Yha.png

Sure enough, the Cruiserweight champion does indeed come racing down to the ring to save Kidman and perhaps get a little revenge on the FBI, who interfered and cost him his match with A-Train last week. Even though it's two-on-one, Mysterio is able to use his fresh speech to roll Stamboli out of the ring with a quick hurricarana and duels with Nunzio straight after. A drop toe hold puts Nunzio in position for a 619 and the fans go wild as Mysterio calls for it.

oRH1su8.png

As much as Mysterio wanted to clock Nunzio in the face, it was not to be as the third FBI member enters the ring while Mysterio was bouncing against the ropes and knocks him flat on his back with a clothesline. With Stamboli recovered and back in the ring, the three men turn their assault towards Mysterio. After all three stomp him down, Palumbo and Stamboli slightly lift Mysterio off the mat to allow Nunzio to hit a now assisted Sicilian Slide, resulting in Mysterio laid out motionless next to Kidman. Chuck Palumbo pulls a big, thick piece of yellow chalk from his pocket and begins outlining the bodies of Mysterio and Kidman. Once finished, Palumbo and Stamboli promptly raise Nunzio up onto their shoulders.

Cole: What an uncalled attack by the FBI! I think it's safe to say Nunzio definitely wants a title shot, but is this the way to earn it?!

Tazz: Notfa' nothin', Mysterio accepted by comin' out to the ring, Cole!

Cole: I think that was more about doing the right thing! But regardless, Nunzio does earn a big victory here tonight. But if he wants a title shot, he needs to do it himself. It won't be a tag match!

Tazz: This FBI are slippery dudes, Cole. They know how to distract, manipulate and bend the rules to their likin'. And like it or not, this won't be a singles match!

Back from break, we are presented to the oddly empty "office" of the APA. The round wood table sits with no cards, no cans, no ashtray, no personality. Bradshaw sits alone on a cold steel blue chair, staring off into nothing as we can see that his mind is processing many thoughts. From the distance, laughing and chattering is heard getting closer to Bradshaw's table.

VSaL2GZ.pngx8gOGek.pngoRH1su8.png

It is, indeed, the FBI who had just moments ago laid out Rey Mysterio. The three men are all smiles as they walk by the invisible walls of the APA's office, but take a moment to stop when noticing the silent Bradshaw sitting there. Nunzio taps his men's shoulders and cranks his head towards the big Texan, goading them into staring at him.

Nunzio: Whoooa, what do we got going on here, huh? Look at us, we're getting stuff DONE! I guess it pays to have friends, eh? So what, you just gonna sit here like some, eh, rotto nel culo eh?

Nunzio gives Bradshaw, who has not changed expression or posture, a quick chin flick before parking close by to their betting station. Palumbo begins writing out Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit's names on the chalk board. Stamboli stands up on a long white table staged by the board and shouts out to anyone listening.

Johnny Stamboli: A'ight everybody, let's get this started, capice? Benoit, Angle, battle for the ages, let's see some denaro contante, eh?!

A few random agents walk by and admire the board as the FBI continues to set up their betting station, Bradshaw showing absolutely no interest in what is going on. The FBI suddenly turn their interest to someone off screen.

Nunzio: Paulie! You want in on this, I know you do!

52OqZFF.png

The General Manager of SmackDown, looking in a great mood after sending one of this rivals to jail, acknowledges the FBI with a firm nod. His hands clasped in front of him, he addresses the leader of the FBI.

Paul Heyman: I think the three of you know where my money would go in this situation, but I'm afraid my position forbids me from betting on such a match. However....

Heyman looks towards the still silent Bradshaw with a big grin, then back to the FBI.

Paul Heyman: Perhaps you should open the betting for... another match.

Nunzio: Really? Los Guerreros and World's Greatest?

Chuck Palumbo: Big Show and Cena?

Johnny Stamboli: Naaah, c'mon... Torrie and Dawn Marie, right?!

Paul Heyman: No, no, no. I'm thinking more.... your most frequent customer, The A-Train, and... that man over there.

Heyman points towards Bradshaw, who finally looks up from the invisible wall he was staring at. The FBI look his way again and then back towards Heyman, Nunzio with an especially perplexed look on his face.

Nunzio: But Paul, that match is next! We ain't gonna get any bets for that one. Especially when Mr. High Roller ain't even here to bet!

Paul Heyman: Well... one "high roller" sure isn't here. But another is!

Heyman slowly approaches the table where Bradshaw sits. Bradshaw speaks before Heyman even finishes walking over.

Bradshaw: Not interested.

Heyman slightly chuckles to himself.

Paul Heyman: Now, now. You haven't even heard what I have to say!

Bradshaw: You've said enough.

Paul Heyman: Oh so now this is how it's going to be?! Last week I put my faith in you. And you failed! The Big Show tore you apart! What the hell happened?!

Bradshaw: I don't know.

Paul Heyman: You don't know?! This is your career, Bradshaw! Your livelihood! You want to earn the big bucks you're living off of?! Well you better fast start justifying that check you get in the first place!

Bradshaw: I already do ya' yuppie, you don't think I care about my career?!

Paul Heyman: I think you're perfectly content where you are.

Bradshaw: You damn right I am, being paid to have a good time and occasionally kick a little ass? Livin' the dream, the American dream.

Paul Heyman: You're PATHETIC!

Heyman fishes around in his pocket and turns towards the FBI. He pulls out his wallet and pulls out a few Benjamin Franklins.

Paul Heyman: Sounds to me like you've given up on yourself! Perhaps this will "inspire" you.

Heyman hands Nunzio the wad of cash.

Paul Heyman: Put me down... for Bradshaw!

Palumbo quickly jots down some chickenscratch off the side of the board as Nunzio hands Stamboli the dough. Heyman looks back towards Bradshaw, smug look on his face.

Paul Heyman: So here we are, Bradshaw. I'm putting my own finances in YOUR HANDS! You know, just like that book of yours, right? I'm not only betting against the scumbag who bet against Team Lesnar twice, but for the man who has yet to realize what he has. Good luck tonight.

Heyman clasps his hands back together and walks off screen as Bradshaw stands up and stretches his arms, getting ready to go out for his upcoming match.

<div style="padding: 5px; border: 4px solid #000000; margin:10px;background: #000033; max-width:670px;box-shadow: 0 4px 8px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2), 0 6px 20px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.19); background-image:url();background-position:center;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-size:contain;">

ijf3CSQ.pngKRExBgt.pngsPIobg7.png

A-Train is coming off a big win against hometown hero Rey Mysterio where he qualified for the Royal Rumble. Bradshaw, however, is in a rut. Last week he performed poorly in his match against the Big Show and still seems to be mentally recovering from the loss of his partner, Farooq. Bradshaw was a little bit more active in this match compared to last week, but still was not the same hard hitting Texan that we know he can be. Ultimately A-Train dominated this one and while Bradshaw hung in, he clearly was still not in the right state of mind to come out on top. A-Train put Bradshaw away after a nasty looking bicycle kick.

Winner: A-Train @ 6:04 (67)

</div>

Cole: The Bradshaw we've seen these last few weeks is unlike the Bradshaw we're use to seeing, partner.

Tazz: Yeah I mean A-Train is a big, tough dude and a hard opponent. But 'Shaw seems to be.... I dunno, Cole, in another world don'tcha think?

Cole: I'm sure Paul Heyman's mind games are definitely not helping, but regardless we will see Bradshaw in the Royal Rumble this Sunday with 29 other men, including the man who just beat him moments ago - A-Train.

Tazz: What a turnaround that would be, huh? Could you imagine Bradshaw winnin' that thing?

Cole: I sure could, anyone can win Tazz! This is the ultimate slam dunk you can do for your career, win the Rumble and go on to WrestleMania. It is truly "anyone's game"!

5jxRJqP.pngBgyz75b.png

Cameras cut to the dressing room of Los Guerreros. Despite how high tension has been between these two, the two men look happy to be in each other's company. Chavo would close last week's SmackDown by embracing his uncle Eddie. Tonight, they have a chance to solidify their union in a tag match against the World's Greatest Tag Team.

Eddie Guerrero: Chavito, I am so excited for tonight! The return of Los Guerreros, for real this time! I love you, nephew.

Eddie places his hand firmly on Chavo's shoulder.

Chavo Guerrero: I'm sorry, Eddie. I lashed out. I don't think you're a glory hog. I just wish people would recognize that I can break out just as much as you can!

Eddie Guerrero: There's still time for that, Chavo! We will show the world that you've got what it takes! But first, let's take on Haas and Benjamin!

A quick knock is heard. Eddie and Chavo stand from the bench when they see who it is, both looking defensive.

mcKHfh1.png

In walks Kurt Angle, who has been trying to bring Los Guerreros back together throughout the weeks. And while it seems he was successful, Angle was assaulted by the Guerreros to close out SmackDown last week. Angle extends his arms out in submission.

Kurt Angle: Don't worry, I'm not angry.

Eddie and Chavo both slowly sit down as Angle places his hands on his hips.

Kurt Angle: I just want to say I'm proud of you guys. This is EXACTLY what I wanted. What EVERYONE wanted! You two are truly better together. And now, while you guys work on growing stronger together, I can go back to focusing on what's important for me.... and that's winning the Royal Rumble for my country. Wooo!

Angle kisses his gold medals and walks off.

As we come back from commercial, cameras are at ringside.

Cole: Folks during the commercial break, I'm being told there was a situation in the back involving Bradshaw and SmackDown General Manager Paul Heyman.... let's see what happened, partner.

ijf3CSQ.png52OqZFF.png

Footage with "moments ago" branded on the bottom plays that shows Bradshaw stomping through the hallways towards the parking lot. Paul Heyman follows close behind.

Paul Heyman: What the hell was that?! You owe me for this, you know! That money, right out of your paycheck! You're paying for that loss! Dearly! What is going on with you?! Snap out of this!

The two men, now in the parking lot, come to a stop in front of a nice looking BMW. Bradshaw turns towards Heyman.

Bradshaw: Stay the hell outta my business, Heyman! Let me do this MY WAY!

Bradshaw enters the slick, expensive sports car and drives off, brakes squealing behind him. Back to ringside.

The fans go wild as the up-and-comer John Cena hits the stage for his match against the Big Show, a big opportunity to make a statement going into the Royal Rumble. As always, Cena is sporting a microphone along with his Dallas Cowboys jersey, who were recently eliminated from the Playoffs by the Panthers, to surely suck up to the Texan crowd.

ZukKkeH.png

John Cena: YO! YO! YO! YOOOOOOOO-OOOOOOOO-oh-oh-oh! Count the days, it's almost time for the Rumble! And after I toss 29 fools out the ring, you're gonna see the Heyman empire crumble. You see it starts tonight with a big fat slob. And when I'm through with them all, Heyman can suck a knob. I ain't worried about size or strength, The Big Slow is nothing but a dumb hick. And when they say everything's bigger in Texas, boy I know they ain't talkin' about your...

Cena raises his microphone up as the audience finishes the line.

<div style="padding: 5px; border: 4px solid #000000; margin:10px;background: #000033; max-width:670px;box-shadow: 0 4px 8px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2), 0 6px 20px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.19); background-image:url();background-position:center;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-size:contain;">

ZukKkeH.pngKRExBgt.pngDwJavYM.png

Though this was a non-title match, Cena definitely was in "big match" mode going into this one and showed a passion like you'd see from him at a PPV. Cena, more than anything, wants to show everyone he isn't just some punk kid but a future title contender. Big Show, however, is a big a challenge you could ever get and the reigning champion was in top form tonight.

Cena shows oozes of potential in this one and has done some incredible things these last few weeks, including taking out the World's Greatest Tag Team by himself. But he does also show that he is perhaps not quite ready to take on SmackDown's elite. Cena foolishly goes for a F-U and while for a moment everyone was on their feet to see Cena lift the 500 lb. Big Show up for the ride, Show ultimately got out of it and sent Cena on his own ride with a Showstopper to put the rapper down for the count.

Winner: The Big Show @ 9:25 (78)

Cameras cut to the backstage interview set where Funaki, in a SmackDown cut-off shirt, stands with a microphone in hand next to Scotty 2 Hotty and Rikishi.

n0S6fu7.pngEL53kgy.pngRTOrw8v.png

Funaki: Ah, hello! It is I, Funaki, NUMBER ONE ANNOUNCER! Rikishi, Scott Too Hot, you will compete in title match at the Royal Rumble. What do you have to say about the Brothers Basham?!

Scotty 2 Hotty: Say 'Kish, what do you think Shaniqua does to those boys with that whip of hers?

Rikishi: I can think of a few things, Scotty. But I bet those boys know a lot about getting whipped in the ass. But I bet Shaniqua never encountered an ass like this.

Rikishi starts slapping his thighs.

Rikishi: And when I back that ass UP on Sunday, you can bet that Scotty and I are gonna be the WWE Tag Team champions!

Scotty 2 Hotty: That's right, my cool buddy! There's nothing that's going to stop the power of cooOOOOOO!

RaQIVx1.pngnuEXZNk.png

Before Scotty can finish the line, the Bashams attack Scotty and Rikishi from behind. Focusing on the smaller of the two after blindsiding both, Danny and Doug throw Scotty into the interview set before hitting a double flapjack that sends Scotty's body screaming onto the concrete floor. Rikishi is able to recover and knocks both Bashams down with a double clothesline before throwing Danny into a nearby vending machine and Doug into a roll-up bay door. Both Bashams lay motionless on the ground as Rikishi kneels down next to his friend.

Rikishi: Scotty?! Scotty!

Rikishi shakes Scotty, who is conscious but clearly in a lot of pain. Looks like Rikishi is going out to his match alone tonight.

Rikishi: Damn.

A quick clip once again shows that Billy Gunn will be returning at the Royal Rumble. A few clips show some highlight moments.

<div style="padding: 5px; border: 4px solid #000000; margin:10px;background: #000033; max-width:670px;box-shadow: 0 4px 8px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2), 0 6px 20px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.19); background-image:url();background-position:center;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-size:contain;">

EL53kgy.pngKRExBgt.png3D5wt2M.png

Team Lesnar has been strong tonight with A-Train and Big Show picking up victories and a young Matt Morgan has the opportunity to make it 3-0 against a tough challenge in Rikishi. Though Morgan was not involved in the ambush that just occured moments ago, Rikishi definitely wanted to take it out on him as he entered this match with a fire we don't normally see the big man possess. Morgan, a big man himself, is able to stay strong in this one and unlike Rikishi's other opponents, is able to knock the Samoan down on his back a few times with little effort. Still, the vastly experienced Rikishi is able to stay in control and put himself in prime position to win. After a missed big boot, Morgan low blows himself on the ropes and is quickly slammed to the mat by the 400 lb Rikishi. 'Kish begins slapping his thighs and raising the roof as he drags Morgan closer to the turnbuckle and climbs up to the second rope.

LSFY1M5.png

With the Bashams taken care of earlier, Rikishi was not expecting to see them interfere in this match but it seems he forgot about their leather clad valet, Shaniqua. Shaniqua cracks her whip against the turnbuckle, nearly missing Rikishi's hand, who loses his balance and falls of the turnbuckle entirely. As he tries to spring up, not an easy task for him, Morgan quickly recovers and hits the unsuspecting Rikishi with his big boot - connecting flush against his head this time. Morgan covers and picks up the big upset.

Winner: Matt Morgan @ 7:41 (44)

</div>

Cole: How ridiculous is that! First the Bashams take out Scotty 2 Hotty, now Shaniqua puts her nose in this match?!

Tazz: She's standin' up for her guys, Cole! Rikishi took them out before this match and she ain't lettin' Rikishi get away with that. And what a win for this big kid Matt Morgan, look at this guy!

Cole: Paul Heyman must be pretty delighted tonight, Team Lesnar is 3 and 0!

We cut to the backstage area where Josh Matthews stands with the "Rabid Wolverine" Chris Benoit.

x25FRqT.pngrHX8ZLV.png

Josh Matthews: Chris, I know you got a big match coming up against Kurt Angle tonight but even bigger is what you have planned this Sunday. You'll be in the Royal Rumble, a match Paul Heyman did his best to keep you out of. And you're entering as #1. And in the Rumble's history, only one man has won the Royal Rumble at #1, Shawn Michaels. How do you plan on doing it?

Chris Benoit: How do I plan on doing it? I'm going to step into the ring and I'm going to outlast 29 other men. And that's all there is to it, Josh. What I have put myself to get here.... the blood, the sweat, the tears, the SACRIFICES... I will not allow to be all for nothing. That rat Paul Heyman thinks he can control my career... I'm going to shove this right in that fat face of his. I'm going to win the Royal Rumble, I'm going to go to WrestleMania and I am going to become WWE Champion.

treASfW.png4FQLL8N.pngBgyz75b.png5jxRJqP.png

Los Guerreros and the World's Greatest Tag Team make their entrances for the big tag team match coming up. Los Guerreros still appear to be cordial with each other, Chavo even offering Eddie to start the match off. Eddie and Shelton get ready in their respective corners...

<iframe width="75" height="75" src="

https://www.youtube.com/embed/3ZubjFrsYEs" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Cole: What the hell is this?!

Tazz: That's Paul Heyman's music, Cole!

Cole: I know whose music it is, what the hell is Heyman doing out here before this contest?!

52OqZFF.png

Heyman, mic in hand, walks out onto the stage with a proud smile on his face. It's been a relatively successful night for Team Lesnar, but what do any of these four men have to do with that? Heyman lifts the mic to his lips.

Paul Heyman: Do excuse me for interrupting what should be a classic match but let me just remind you all of something very important. SmackDown currently has 11 representatives going into the Royal Rumble and....

Heyman jokingly begins counting the men in the ring, mouthing out "one, two, three, four".

Paul Heyman: Ah-ha! It just so happens that FOUR spots remain! What a perfect opportunity to make things.... interesting.

Benjamin and Guerrero both lean up against the ropes in anticipation.

Paul Heyman: Let's raise the stakes! If the four of you are able to impress me enough, I'll put all four of you in the Royal Rumble match! This isn't about winners or losers... this is about putting on a performance to REMEMBER!

Cole: Well we don't see generosity very often from our General Manager but this is a big opportunity for all four of these men!

Tazz: And these four can put on a clinic, let me tell ya'!

<div style="padding: 5px; border: 4px solid #000000; margin:10px;background: #000033; max-width:670px;box-shadow: 0 4px 8px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2), 0 6px 20px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.19); background-image:url();background-position:center;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-size:contain;">

5jxRJqP.pngBgyz75b.pngKRExBgt.pngtreASfW.png4FQLL8N.png

This was a match with four world class athletes and boy did it show. Some might compare the drama the Los Guerreros have been involved in lately to a soap opera, but with both men seemingly back on great terms, no drama was present to overshadow this match. With Heyman's announcement, these teams put in all they could in what could be described as a PPV-quality match.

Both teams were evenly matched and put out all the stops to come out victorious but ultimately Los Guerreros would come out on top, no shenanigans and or funny business. Eddie hit the frog splash on Haas to put this one away.

Winner: Los Guerreros @ 14:55 (85)

</div>

Cole: What an incredible match between four fantastic athletes, partner!

Tazz: Safe to say Heyman's offer will be honored here. What a battle! And now a big opportunity waits for all involved!

The fans curiously stand as the Chairman's theme hits over the PA, moments before a match between two divas. McMahon steps out onto the stage with his mistress Sable, who is wearing a referee shirt.

RKuRQTT.pngyBRHMPX.png

Tazz: Welp, here comes the boss!

Sable climbs into the ring, seemingly now the referee of this match... which Vince can, in fact, enforce. Vince McMahon, much to Cole and Tazz's delight, sits ringside with them.

Tazz: What a surprise! Come to hang out with your buddies, boss?

Vince McMahon: Can't miss out on a good old fashioned cat fight now can I?

Cole: You doing okay after that.... sneak attack last week?

Vince McMahon: Well let me just say that one kick is not enough to stop the, uh, proverbial "genetic jackhammer", Michael Cole. But rest assured, I guaran-damn-tee that Ernest Miller's recent testicular fortitude will be addressed here tonight in a very special way.

Torrie Wilson and Dawn Marie, by now, have graced the front covers of WrestleCrap more than anyone would care to admit. This match was about as "classic" as their other encounters, but Vince McMahon's sarcastic commentary definitely helped to make this one a little bit more bearable. Sable, despite her ongoing feud with Torrie Wilson, called this one right down the middle. Ultimately Torrie Wilson would hit some sort of spear thing and cover Dawn Marie to put this one to bed.

Winner: Torrie Wilson @ 3:13 (54)

As Torrie and Sable celebrate in the ring, seemingly getting along somehow with their Playboy pictorial fast coming soon, Vince McMahon climbs in by Sable's side.

The fans immediately erupt in boos as Ernest Miller, clearly a hater of divas, predictably shows up on stage. McMahon's face scrunches up as he wraps his arm around Sable's side.

bEprh5V.png

"The Cat" comes out with a mic in hand and with McMahon definitely being ready for a kick between the leg this time, Miller decides to keep his distance on the stage.

Ernest Miller: Naw, naw, naw.... it's all wrong! All wrong! Are you people that DENSE?

Miller turns his attention towards a random fan in the audience.

Ernest Miller: Look at this humanoid over here, this obese piece of trash! Sit down, fat boy! They need a forklift to get you in here? Slobbering all over these ladies? You people don't even know. I'M THE GREATEST! And last week, Vince McMahon, I showed you why I'M THE GREATEST! And yet day after day, week after week, month after month, there's no room for "The Cat"!? You know, I've been doing a lot of thinkin', I have, and I do believe I'm going---

Vince McMahon: SHAAAAAAAAAT UP!

Miller immediately drops his mic, his mouth agape as the chairman of the board stands in the ring with that classic look of rage.

Vince McMahon: Shut the hell up you son of a bitch! You want to make a statement?! You want to be recognized? You want people to think you're the GREATEST?! I have news for you, pal! I'M THE GREATEST! I'm the greatest promoter in the world. And no kick between these two big GRAPEFRUITS is going to change that!

McMahon violently grabs his crotch as he stares down Miller. Sable attempts to calm her man down a notch, rubbing her hand up and down his back.

Ernest Miller: You clearly ain't heard, Vince! You still don't know, don't you? I'm a THREE TIME KARATE CHAMPION!

Miller does three kicks in the air, bouncing on one leg.

Ernest Miller: I'm the greatest! And nobody is gonna stop me! Somebody call my mama, let her know her baby boy is soon to be the star of the show! Because at the Royal Rumble, either you is or Paul Heyman is going to put "The Cat" on the marquee!

Vince McMahon: You want a match at the Royal Rumble?! That's fine, Cat, I will give you a chance to compete in singles competition at the Royal Rumble. And you will face.....MEEEEEEEE!

McMahon grits his teeth and stares down the Cat, who smugly nods as he backs away off screen.

Cole: Oh my! The Boss against The Cat?!

Tazz: Vince has had a busy year on PPV, Cole! And it looks like he ain't stopping anytime soon!

It doesn't get much more classic than a good old fashioned Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle match. These two know each other so well and have had so many classic bouts over the years. Many might remember the clinic these two put on almost a year to this date when they fought at the Royal Rumble for the WWE Championship. Tonight wasn't about championships, but very much about pride. Both men have very important goals going into Sunday with Angle guaranteeing a win for the troops and Benoit guaranteeing a win to finally get his redemption against Paul Heyman.

These two had a back-and-forth classic battle with submission reversals and suplexes galore. Though both men tried as hard as they could to get the other to tap out, Benoit was able to roll an ankle lock into a roll-up flash pinfall to catch Angle by surprise and pick up the main event victory!

Winner: Chris Benoit @ 17:22 (81)

</div>

Cole: What a battle that was going into this Sunday, partner!

Tazz: Two great, great talents these dudes are, Cole. And notfa nothin', I can't see anyone BUT these two winnin' the Rumble!

Cole: Angle and Benoit have both promised victory for very different reasons and both men pose a very powerful threat to whoever is WWE Champion at WrestleMania!

Angle and Benoit, with a massive amount of respect for each other, celebrate together in the ring. Angle holds Benoit's arm up in the air as the fans cheer the two heroes of the squared circle.

xLkTxFz.png

The celebration is cut short, however, as the WWE Champion enters the ring and immediately clubs Angle from behind. Before Benoit can react, he is lifted up on Lesnar's shoulders and given a lightening fast F-5!

Cole: What the hell is this, partner?! Brock has no business out here!

Tazz: Pretty sure Lesnar is scouting future opponents here and now, Cole! And there's no Hardcore Holly here to save the day.

Cole: This was a set-up all along, Tazz! Get Hardcore Holly removed from the arena and let Angle and Benoit beat the hell out of each other so Brock can pick up the pieces! These guys just wrestled a 20 minute match, Tazz! And now they're going to suffer at the hands of Brock Lesnar with only one weekend to recover from it!

Lesnar, by now, has locked Angle into the Brock Lock. Angle slams his fists on the mat as his body is twisted and curled over the back of Lesnar's head like a ragdoll. Benoit lay motionless next to the two as Angle screams for mercy, or perhaps some sort of last minute drive to get out of this predicament. But suddenly....

<iframe width="75" height="75" src="

https://www.youtube.com/embed/yGdy3H9YKlg" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Cole: Wh-wh-wh-wh-WHAT?!

The fans explode in a frenzy, never expecting HIM to be making an appearance on SmackDown! Lesnar's face immediately drops as he loosens his grip on Angle, who rolls back onto the mat in agony.

Tazz: The hell is going on here, Cole?! Is he really here?!

The pyros begin sparkling at the top of the stage and a figure stands in the middle of it. As it fades.....

ceCEhuG.png

Goldberg, indeed, appears at the top of the stage.

Cole: What the hell is Goldberg doing here, partner?!

Tazz: I don't have a clue! But I have a feeling he's no fan of our champ!

Goldberg marches down to the ring, locking eyes with Brock. Brock puts his hands on his knees as he awaits Goldberg's entrance into the ring. As Goldberg climbs in, Lesnar attempts to rush him, but he is stopped in his tracks. Angle, who is still conscious and ready to fight back, has grabbed Lesnar's leg and is attempting to wrestle him down for an ankle lock! While Lesnar attempts to kick him off, Goldberg charges forward.... SPEAR!

Tazz: WH-WHOA! A spear just nearly knocks Brock's boots off!

Cole: I don't like this one bit, partner!

Tazz: Goldberg's a RAW guy, Cole! And say what you want about Brock but you don't let the other guys come here and attack our champion!

Cole: Wait a minute here!

Goldberg does his traditional celebration across the ring ropes as Kurt Angle begins to get up to his feet. Not seeing Goldberg as a threat, Angle pats him on the back and begins to walk away, only for Goldberg to turn him around and hit him with a SPEAR!

Cole: What is Goldberg doing!? Down goes Angle!

Tazz: I don't think Brock was necessarily the target here, Cole! Looks like Goldberg wants to make a statement!

Cole: Make a statement on RAW! This is not his place! And look at this, he's not done!

Goldberg has by now grabbed Benoit, who was crawling on all fours, still suffering the effects of that F5. Goldberg pulls him into the middle of the ring and gets him into position.... JACKHAMMER!

Cole: Goldberg has just laid out three of our top SmackDown superstars, Tazz. And look at this image going into the Royal Rumble.... a RAW superstar standing over destruction that he brought to our house!

Tazz: Maybe I take back what I said before Cole..... Goldberg has a pretty good shot too!

Cole: The Royal Rumble is this Sunday! Who is going to come out on top?!

TNA star walks out of company; TNA's financial situation

Posted by Ryan Clark on 1/22/04

Joe E. Legend - who you may remember as "Just Joe", the trouble making jobber who was a Heat mainstay in the early 2000's - has walked out on NWA:TNA. Apparently this has stemmed from a pay dispute. This has opened up a can of worms within the company as many of the low end stars are missing payments while Sting was just signed to a huge contract to make him a permanent part of the company. A source got word that some are just calling it "growing pains" as TNA is attempting to rise up with their big ESPN deal. On last night's NWA:TNA PPV Sting and Roddy Piper main evented in favor of Jeff Jarrett's NWA title defense against Raven.

Ratings for ESPN's TNA iMPACT! were down during this last showing, featuring Jeff Jarretf vs. Don Harris. But they're still drawing relatively impressive numbers for their size with just over half a million viewers, which currently beats WWE's Heat and Velocity in the ratings.

Is WWE looking to sign more women?; Bobbi Billard update

Posted by Ryan Clark on 1/22/04

WWE may be looking to bulk up it's women's wrestling roster. Though RAW has been slowly, but surely looking at moving towards more competitive matches with women, there has still been lots of focus on eye candy. This is especially true of SmackDown, which has Torrie Wilson as their biggest female star. A big campaigner for making women's wrestling more serious has actually been Stephanie McMahon. We're being told that several female independent wrestlers have been getting offered contracts and that the plans for the WWE Women's Championship at WrestleMania are "big".

Presently there only three females signed to a developmental deal with the WWE through OVW which are: Bobbi Billard, a very top heavy former model and actress who gets by on her looks. Nikita Fink, a valet who does very little wrestling. And Alexis Laree, who wrestled in NWA-TNA last year as a member of the The Gathering. We'll definitely have more as it develops and might have some names on which contracts were signed.

Billy Kidman hurt at SmackDown tapings

Posted by Ryan Clark on 1/23/04

Billy Kidman aggravated a neck injury at the SmackDown tapings during his match with Nunzio. Kidman was able to work through the match but was in a lot of pain. Sources are saying that Kidman is likely to be out for a few months and will be missing out on the road to WrestleMania.

BREAKING: Billy Gunn suspended for failing drug test

Posted by Ryan Clark on 1/23/04

We can confirm yet another failed drug test at the SmackDown tapings, this time with Billy Gunn who was set to return to the ring at the Royal Rumble. Gunn, similarly to Jamie Noble a few weeks back, was immediately suspended, which has taken him off the Royal Rumble card. WWE.com is still advertising Gunn for the Rumble and has not mentioned a word of it on their website (just like Noble, who just vanished off television) so it's unknown how that will play out at this time. Word is that Gunn did not take news of his suspension well and there was a lot of hostility in the backstage and lots of disagreements from Gunn's friends as well. There's still lots of heat over the drug testing WWE is conducting due to it's outright inconsistency which has put a lot of people on edge as to what is banned and what isn't and what the punishment will be. Gunn's argument is that he was using a medical steroid to help treat his shoulder injury and not to help his physique.

Several women wrestlers signed, two STOLEN from NWA:TNA!?

Posted by Ryan Clark on 1/23/04

We can confirm that WWE has signed many women to contracts over the last few days and have reported to Louisville. In addition, OVW has announced on it's website the introduction of the OVW Ladies Championship. Simply Lucious, who had a dark match a few weeks back, has been officially signed a contract. But perhaps most surprising is the signings of Trinity and Traci Brooks, who were outright poached from NWA-TNA. Even more contracts have been offered, we'll have more as it comes!

OVW star injured; Career over?

Posted by Ryan Clark on 1/24/04

Carlito Colon, the son of Puerto Rican legend Carlos Calon, suffered a major concussion on Tuesday's OVW TV tapings. After being screened by a company doctor, Colon was told that he will be out for over a year and his career may be in jeopardy for his own health. This is a huge blow as we have been reporting that Carlito, who has developed a highly rated character of a cocky, apple spewing Caribbean character, was close to being called up to the main roster. This is the same injury that ended Christopher Nowinski's young career over the summer. We'll keep you posted on this as it develops.

Rey Mysterio has only just won the Cruiserweight Championship, defeating Tajiri on the first day of 2004. But he already has had plenty of competitors wanting a stake at his title. Getting on the bad side of Paul Heyman by interfering in his matters did not do him any favors either when Heyman put him in a match against the A-Train in order to qualify for the Royal Rumble. Despite the size difference, Mysterio was very nearly able to secure a victory until an opportunistic Nunzio would interfere and prevent Mysterio from landing a 619. Ultimately Mysterio was defeated and his chance at competing in the Rumble was gone. </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Though many would question Nunzio's legitimacy as a contender, it seems he wanted to earn his shot by forcing himself into the spotlight. After defeating Billy Kidman last Thursday, Nunzio and his men would beat the veteran cruiserweight down in order to lure Rey Mysterio out. And although Mysterio was nearly able to successfully dispatch of the FBI, the numbers game was too strong and Mysterio was ultimately laid out next to his friend. As the ultimate sign of disrespect, Nunzio's stable partner Chuck Palumbo would outline Kidman and Mysterio's bodies in bright yellow chalk, leaving a reminder of the havoc they raised for the rest the show. </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

With no clear #1 Contender and Mysterio not being involved in the Rumble, Paul Heyman would announce on WWE.com shortly after SmackDown's broadcast that Rey Mysterio would indeed defend his Cruiserweight Championship against the leader of the FBI, Nunzio. Say what you want about Nunzio's tactics of securing a title shot, it worked. And as a man who has gotten a reputation for being an opportunist, this is certainly a prime time for him to knock out the king of the Cruiserweights. Meanwhile, Rey Mysterio is looking to go into his second WrestleMania ever as reigning and defending champion. A title defense here will help him realize that goal.</span></div></p><p>

Debuting over the summer, the Basham Brothers have been a particularly unique tag team who seem to love pain as much as they love unleashing it. The two leather clad men along with their valet, Shaniqua, have torn the SmackDown tag division up and after a dominating performance in a feud with the APA throughout the fall, the Bashams reached a milestone in their very young careers by defeating Los Guerreros for the WWE Tag Team Championship.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Meanwhile, Scotty 2 Hotty had been on the injured list for well over a year before he returned in October. And the master of the worm was quick to reunite an alliance with his longtime friend Rikishi. Though Scotty's tag success was never with the big man in years past, their friendship and natural chemistry has allowed them to easily become serious contenders in the tag team division. After defeating The Bashams in a non-title match, Scotty and Rikishi would secure themselves a future title shot.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Despite their success in the tag division, Rikishi was set to face the rookie Matt Morgan in a singles match on this past SmackDown, but both the Bashams and Shaniqua involved themselves enough to cost Rikishi the win and give the young Team Lesnar member a big upset. Originally simply a match based off respective rankings, this feud has turned personal as the Bashams look to prove that their threat can last.</span></div></p><p>

In a fatal four way match! And that's the bottom line, 'cause Stone Cold said so!"</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

The women's division has heated up to such a degree that a singles match simply cannot contain it. Molly Holly, the reigning champion, has been determined to erase the WWE of eye candy and bikini contests. Molly has long scorned Trish Stratus, who she believes only gets by based off her looks. Trish, already a decorated women's wrestler, has always tried to show that she can kick ass while looking good too. Lita, since breaking off on her own, has become a pioneer in risk taking and adding much more excitement to the women's matches. Meanwhile Teddy Long, CEO of Thuggin' and Buggin' Enterprises, has been doing his best to keep the powerful Jazz in the title hunt. </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

These four women have all shared wins and losses with each other in multiple ways. With Eric Bischoff being absent from a number of RAWs and Theodore Long given a chance to lead, Long attempted to pull a fast one by giving Jazz a title shot at the Royal Rumble. But the Sheriff of RAW, Stone Cold Steve Austin, was quick to dismiss Long's idea after Jazz and Molly Holly lost to Lita and Trish Stratus in a tag team match. Austin did allow Jazz to have a title shot but added Trish and Lita to the mix as well, enraging Molly Holly who now has a chance of losing her title without even needing to be pinned.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Many rumors within WWE of ladies throughout the world of wrestling being offered contracts from multiple organizations and places around the world has every Diva looking over their shoulder. It's more important than ever to remain on top of the division.</span></div></p><p>

Vince McMahon has had an insanely busy 2003 on PPV. Though he did lose to Hulk Hogan at last year's WrestleMania, McMahon has been undefeated on PPV since by defeating Zach Gowen at Vengeance, his own daughter Stephanie at No Mercy and putting the Undertaker to rest (or did he?) at Survivor Series. And it's clear as day that McMahon is a demented, evil man. He embarrassed a one legged man, forced his own daughter to quit and "killed" one of SmackDown's biggest and most popular superstars. Clearly anyone who stands up to Vince must be a fan favorite at this point, right?</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Well... that's where "The Cat" comes in. Certainly not a plucky fan favorite. </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Originally a colour commentator on Velocity over the summer, Ernest Miller wanted to bring his ring career back by hyping his debut for several weeks throughout the winter. Miller would finally debut, but ended up getting on the bad side of Vince McMahon by kissing and putting his hands on McMahon's mistress Sable. After confronting the Cat, which lead to Cat wanting to demonstrate how he was a better performer than McMahon, Miller would earn himself a kick between the legs credit to the boss.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Since this moment, Miller has seemingly dropped his dancing persona and has instead been boasting of his karate skills. And it's clear Miller is frustrated that his debut did not go the way he wanted or expected. Even more frustrated is Miller over being left off the card in favor of Sable and Torrie Wilson's Playboy promotion. When questioned if McMahon's attack to Miller sparked a bit of "ruthless aggression" his way, "The Cat" would give McMahon a kick between the legs of his own to the grapefruits of the chairman.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

This past Thursday, McMahon would throw down the gauntlet and issued the challenge to Ernest Miller. And now it's official: at the Royal Rumble, it's "The Cat" vs. "The Boss". And it's time, more than ever, for Miller to put up or shut up. For good. Who really is the greatest of allll time?</span></div></p><p>

<img alt="uHRM6mS.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/uHRM6mS.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

And we want our shot! Flair and Batista, we're challenging you for the World Tag Team Championship at the Royal Rumble... and since you won the titles your way at Armageddon, we want our chance our way! We want a TABLES MATCH!"</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

The Dudley Boyz and Evolution have certainly never been friends. In fact, Bubba has been enemies of Triple H clear back to 2002 when the Dudley Boyz were originally broken up. And a little known, often forgotten fact is that D-Von has a singles match win over Triple H! </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

At Armageddon 2003, The Dudley Boyz and rest of the world thought they had won the World Tag Team Championship after eliminating two other teams in a Tag Team Turmoil match. But Eric Bischoff would sabotage the Dudley Boyz by introducing Batista and Ric Flair, who were not originally scheduled to compete, into the match. Though the Dudleyz did their damndest, this was their third straight match in a row and against a fresh Flair and Batista, they stood no chance. </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Since then, Evolution now boasts holding all the men's championships on RAW. And their momentum looks to be unstoppable heading into WrestleMania season. But the Dudleyz, feeling their shot was not fair, have been yearning for a rematch on even playing field. After defeating Orton, Batista and Flair with Shawn Michaels as their partner and the smallest Dudley brother Spike beating Batista by DQ the following week, tensions between the two teams have been at an all time high. And with both teams trading a table spot the last two RAWs, this one could truly be anyone's game.</span></div></p><p>

<img alt="DznS4AO.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DznS4AO.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

<div style="padding: 5px; border: 4px solid #FFD700; margin:10px;background: #000000; max-width:800px;box-shadow: 0 4px 8px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2), 0 6px 20px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.19); background-image:url();background-position:center;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-size:contain;"><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:tahoma;">"Brock.... I'm gonna BREAK YOUR NECK!"</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Hardcore Holly has had a respectable career in the WWE to this point, but not many would have expected him to be receiving a title shot at one of WWE's most prestigious PPVs. Regardless, this feud is probably not only the most personal of all the matches on the card but Holly has proven throughout the weeks that he is more than a capable opponent for the near unstoppable Brock Lesnar. The premise of this feud is quite well known but in case you need caught up: Brock Lesnar put Hardcore Holly on the injury list by breaking his neck back in 2002 which put him on the shelf for a year and a half. Now returned, Holly wants to make up for his lost time by not only challenging Lesnar for the title but breaking his neck as well. </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Paul Heyman has made it very clear that he sees this era in WWE as the Brock Lesnar era and that this time period will be looked upon as such by historians. The only way that is ever going to be possible is if Brock goes into his second straight title match at WrestleMania. Hardcore Holly, on the other hand, has an opportunity to pull off one of the biggest upsets in Royal Rumble history. Despite many considering Holly an underdog, Heyman has been doing everything he can to handicap Holly by putting him in difficult matches, locking him in a dressing room until he competes and even having him arrested to kick off the go home show before the Rumble, leaving Holly off the rest of the show.</span></div></p><p>

<img alt="rclYVx9.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rclYVx9.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

<div style="padding: 5px; border: 4px solid #FFD700; margin:10px;background: #000000; max-width:800px;box-shadow: 0 4px 8px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2), 0 6px 20px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.19); background-image:url();background-position:center;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-size:contain;"><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:tahoma;">"I did everything I could to prevent what I'm going to have to do to you to put you down, Shawn. But if you want to make this that personal, I just hope you realize what the end game is here. And that's you stretchered out for your last ever title shot, last ever PPV, last ever match."</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Once best friends as members of D-Generation X, Shawn Michaels and Triple H have been bitter rivals ever since Shawn Michaels' return to the ring at Summerslam 2002. Since then, the two have battled each other in several epic matches over the past year and a half, including an Elimination Chamber that Michaels was able to win and earn his first World Heavyweight Championship since coming out of retirement. After losing the title right back to Triple H, Shawn Michaels has yet to taste gold again. Except once.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

At the final RAW of 2003, Shawn Michaels faced Triple H in his hometown of San Antonio for the World Heavyweight Championship. And after a very long match with plenty of Evolution interference and even Eric Bischoff replacing the knocked out referee, the world all thought for a second that Shawn Michaels had won the World Heavyweight Championship following a Sweet Chin Music and Michaels falling over Triple H.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

But.... that split second would be his only taste of gold. </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Eric Bischoff would clarify that the finish was actually a double pin, an incredibly controversial call that very few people agreed with. With the questionable finish to this match and Michaels and Triple H's feud not cooling down, it was only natural they would get a rematch soon. With Bischoff avoiding RAW due to a mixture of not wanting to own up to his call and wanting to dodge Sheriff Austin, Theodore Long was given control of RAW where he had tried to pull a fast one by giving Mark Henry the title shot at Royal Rumble. Sheriff Austin would overrule, instead forcing Henry into a match with Shawn Michaels for #1 Contendership. Shawn Michaels would win but it'd be capped off by Triple H knocking Shawn Michaels out with the dreaded sledgehammer. Following this, Triple H proposed to the unconscious Michaels that their match be a Last Man Standing match.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

The following week, Triple H expressed regret at the match challenge - not because he was scared, but because of what he knows he has to do to his old friend to put him down for that long. We know this is going to be an extremely violent, bloody, brutal and personal match. Is Triple H going to continue his reign of terror or will Shawn Michaels be able to make up for being screwed in his hometown?</span></div></p><p>

<img alt="Re5LIKR.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Re5LIKR.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

<div style="padding: 5px; border: 4px solid #FFD700; margin:10px;background: #000000; max-width:800px;box-shadow: 0 4px 8px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2), 0 6px 20px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.19); background-image:url();background-position:center;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-size:contain;"><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:tahoma;">"How do I plan on doing it? I'm going to step into the ring and I'm going to outlast 29 other men. And that's all there is to it, Josh. What I have put myself through to get here.... the blood, the sweat, the tears, the SACRIFICES... I will not allow to be all for nothing."</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

The namesake of the show is what this PPV is all about, we cannot ever truly be in WrestleMania season until a Royal Rumble winner is crowned. A tradition that has taken place for over a decade now, the Royal Rumble pits 30 superstars in the ring where the winner will earn themselves a title shot at the grandaddy of them all, WrestleMania.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

What started as simple qualification matches between several superstars turned into something much more. Paul Heyman attempted to keep some certain superstars out of the match to much unsuccess, but would get revenge on Chris Benoit by forcing him to be the #1 entrant. On RAW, Goldberg would earn himself the #30 spot by winning a battle royal between three other top contenders, later spearing both RAW and SmackDown's champions. </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

But this is a match jam packed with some of the top superstars in the WWE. Kurt Angle has personally promised to win the Royal Rumble in honor of America's fighting men and women. Los Guerreros, who have had many problems over the past few weeks, have been able to reconcile and earn themselves a place in the Rumble along with the World's Greatest Tag Team due to a great match. John Cena, a constant thorn in the side of Paul Heyman and Team Lesnar, earned his place after winning a handicap match. All members of Team Lesnar will be in this match and will surely honor Paul Heyman's command to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship to bring to SmackDown should they win. Chris Jericho and Christian will share a ring for the first time since their disagreements over Trish Stratus. Billy Gunn returns to action from injury. Jerry "The King" Lawler steps out of the announcers booth to compete. And will Bradshaw finally step it up after being challenged to follow his own book's advice?</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Everyone in this match has a case to win it and you can bet that both champions, new or reigning, will be watching this one on the edge of their seat.</span></div></p><p> </p><p>

<p>Thanks so much! I really appreciate hearing that. I just finished writing out the Rumble match, which I've been looking forward to doing since starting this diary. Really happy with how it came out and I can't wait to present it as well as this entire show! Still have a lot of writing to do as that's the only piece of the PPV I've finished so far, but thankfully the largest portion is out of the way. </p><p> </p><p>

I'll have a fun little pre-Rumble Sunday Night Heat up as well featuring a bonus match and a few small angles setting up the show.</p>

Wooooooooo!

We cut into the arena as we see fans in the background begin pouring into the seats. Al Snow and Jonathan Coachman stand up in a press box, giving a great view of the arena and set for the PPV.

Jonathan Coachman: And welcome to Sunday Night Heat, your official pregame show for the 2004 Royal Rumble. And there's what I call a little preview of what's to come for the Dudley Boyz, Al.

Al Snow: Evolution has been dominate on RAW, Coach. All men's titles belong to them and I really don't think any of them are ready to drop them quite yet.

Jonathan Coachman: Well two of their three championships will be on the line tonight at the Rumble, Randy Orton spared from a title defense to compete in the Royal Rumble.

Al Snow: Well speaking of the Rumble, I'm getting word that the numbers are being drawn right now! Let's take a look.

RTOrw8v.pngfLFeOi3.png

Cameras cut to Terri Runnels and Funaki, who are staged outside a door that has a plated "ROYAL RUMBLE DRAWING" sign on it.

Funaki: This is Funaki, #1 ANNOUNCER! And we are outside the draw room!

Terri: All the superstars in the Royal Rumble who do not already have an entrant are drawing their numbers right now! And hey, here comes someone right now!

x8gOGek.pngVSaL2GZ.pngoRH1su8.png

The FBI, lead by Nunzio in his leather jacket, all come out of the room, smiles on their faces.

Funaki: Ahhh, Johnny Spaghetti, Chuck E. Cheese, how do you feel about your numbers here tonight?!

The two big men look at each other with perplexed expressions. Nunzio steps in, all smiles.

Nunzio: Hey, hey, hey, listen up! After what I just saw, the beautiful thing I just witnessed... I think it's prime we're set up for a double whammy, eh boys? You see tonight, I'm gonna beat down Rey Mysterio. I'm gonna rub his face in the mat. And when it's all said and done.... arrividerci! But my boys here, their numbers are too sweet to be true.

Johnny Stamboli: That's right, paisano. And with this pick, I'm gonna win the Royal Rumble!

Palumbo quickly cuts Stamboli off.

Chuck Palumbo: Ey, ey! Back the truck up here, I'm gonna be the Royal Rumble winner!

Johnny Stamboli: In your dreams! It's gonna be me!

Nunzio gets between the two men, throwing his arms up between them.

Nunzio: Cut it out, wise guy! Look, no doubt about it, an Italiano is winning the Royal Rumble. Let's just guarantee that, eh?

Nunzio flicks his chin and walks off with his boys. We cut backstage to where Josh Matthews and Bill DeMott stand behind a Royal Rumble backdrop.

x25FRqT.pngbca8evY.png

Josh Matthews: Well Bill, Nunzio is certainly confident going into his Cruiserweight Championship match. But Rey Mysterio is not an easy opponent! And after winning the championship back on the 1st of the month, I don't think Rey is going to let his title go away that quickly.

Bill DeMott: Nunzio's the chihuahua of the FBI, Josh. Loud mouth, brash personality. Doesn't always get it done in the ring. He had to force himself into this match but I tell you what, with Stamboli and Palumbo lurking on the sidelines, I think Rey's got the odds stacked against him.

Josh Matthews: Well I agree with you there, Bill, but you have to also consider that Rey Myterio performs best when he's the underdog. But don't you forget, folks, here tonight at the Royal Rumble, the WWE Championship will be on the line when Brock Lesnar takes on Hardcore Holly. And Hardcore Holly vows to break Brock Lesnar's neck. Hardcore Holly and Brock Lesnar are going to tear the ROOF off the Wachovia Center here tonight.

09.12.02

A stylized video recap brings us back to Hardcore Holly's match with Brock Lesnar back in 2002.

Cole: There is no fear, there is intimidation for Hardcore Holly.

Tazz: He wants Lesnar!

Cole: Hardcore Holly all over Brock Lesnar!

Tazz: Here's the fight, Cole, here's the fight! Brock, no! Brock no!

The shot shows, multple times, Holly lands straight on his head.

Tazz: That might be the end of it, man. Hardcore Holly landing right on his head.

We cut back to present day, Hardcore Holly standing in front of a black background.

Hardcore Holly: Brock. You broke my neck. You took 12 months of my life. But you made one big mistake. You didn't finish the job.

Flashback to Hardcore Holly returning in November 2003, hitting Team Lesnar members with a steel chair.

Cole: Wait a minute!

Tazz: Whoa, whoa! That's Hardcore Holly!

Cole: Hardcore Holly is back with a vengeance!

A shot back to present day Holly, staring intently into the camera with those cold blue eyes.

Hardcore Holly: Brock, I didn't come back to wrestle. I didn't come back to fight. I came back to end your career.

We flashback to a shot of Holly and Lesnar brawling on the outside of the ring.

Cole: Hardcore Holly hammering away at Brock Lesnar! And Holly hell bent on getting retribution tonight!

Tazz: Hardcore is one of the most confrontational men I've ever met in my life! He don't back down for nobody!

Cole: It was Brock Lesnar who broke Holly's neck a year ago! And Holly vows to make Lesnar pay!

A shot of Holly in the ring, taunting Lesnar.

Hardore Holly: I'm going to do to him.... what he did to me.

A few different action shots show the brutality Brock Lesnar has demonstrated on SmackDown, ending with Holly standing on the stage with his hands on his hips.

Cole: Can Holly survive the animal Brock Lesnar for the WWE title at the Royal Rumble?

Back to present day Holly.

Hardcore Holly: Brock. I'm going to break your neck.

Josh Matthews: And what better arena for Hardcore Holly and Brock Lesnar to settle their feud, here in Philadelphia, the home of hardcore?

Bill DeMott: I don't expect this match to be long, Josh. But it's gonna be brutal for these Philly fans. And Josh, we are completely sold out here at the Wachovia Center!

Josh Matthews: But don't worry, you can still order the Royal Rumble on PPV! Just call your local satellite or cable provider, right now!

Bill DeMott: What are you waiting for?!

RTOrw8v.pngfLFeOi3.pngmcKHfh1.png

We cut back to the drawing room where Kurt Angle approaches, getting ready to draw his number.

Terri: Kurt! You're about to draw your number for the Royal Rumble, how are you feeling about drawing a good number here tonight?

Kurt Angle: A good number?! Terri, it doesn't matter what number I draw. I can draw #2, I can draw #29 for all I care. It doesn't matter because I'm going to win the Royal Rumble tonight. And I'm not just doing it for myself. I'm doing it for my country!

Angle kisses his gold medals and heads into the drawing room. We cut back to ringside.

gBUbAru.pngRWZeGLA.png

Back to ringside with Coach and Al Snow.

Jonathan Coachman: Well the fans are continuing to pile into the Wachovia Center here in Philly, over 19,000 fans sold out here for the Royal Rumble! I'm here with the Snowman, and Al, they say the Royal Rumble can change your life forever. And while that may be true, I think that also applies to our World Heavyweight Championship match. Shawn Michaels and Triple H.

Al Snow: Well we've seen these two men as best of friends, borderline brothers. And now more recently as bitter enemies. And since Shawn Michaels has come out of retirement, we've seen them battle multiple times for that championship. But this is it, Coach! This is the final straw, the last battle. A Last Man Standing match. Only one can walk out winner, who truly is the better man?

Jonathan Coachman: No doubt, Al, that this is going to be a tremendous contest. But this will not be for the faint of heart.

We cut back to the drawing room as Mark Henry and Theodore Long leave, Henry confidently nodding.

Theodore Long: Now that's what I'm talking about, playa! We ain't getting held down by nobody tonight!

Terri: I take it you got good news with your number tonight, Mark?

Theodore Long: Oh yes, with this number, I'm confident with what I've been saying all the long. The WWE is in need of a black World's Heavyweight Champion. And with this number, I can guarantee that Mark Henry is going to dominate his way to victory. Now ba'lee dat!

Long and Henry walk off as we cut back to Josh Matthews and Bill DeMott.

x25FRqT.pngbca8evY.png

Josh Matthews: And you're listening to the official theme music for the Royal Rumble, "Nothing Left to Lose" by Puddle of Mudd from their album Life on Display.

Bill DeMott: Let's get onto the Royal Rumble match itself, Josh. 30 men enter, 29 will have, uh, "nothing left to lose" and just one of those men will begin his preparation for WrestleMania.

Josh Matthews: There's truly a "buzz" in the air, Bill. Can you feel it? WrestleMania season is here! And the Royal Rumble is the perfect way to kick it off when we find out who will be headlining the grandest stage of them all. Chris Benoit will enter #1 and he is hell bent, Bill, on winning this match.

Bill DeMott: All the respect for Chris in the world, Josh, but I don't see it happening. This is a star studded match! All the biggest names on the marquee competing for that Mania shot and Chris Benoit as #1? It ain't happening, Josh.

Josh Matthews: Chris Benoit has the odds stacked against him but I'd still wager he has a great shot at winning this one just based off his heart alone!

Bill DeMott: Heart means nothing when you're up against the likes of the 500 lb, 7 foot tall Big Show. Or how about Kurt Angle? He has guaranteed victory tonight and dedicates a win to his country and the troops! Or we could even see an upset here tonight as Billy Gunn returns from injury here tonight!

Josh Matthews: Well you make a good point here Bill in that anyone can truly win the Royal Rumble! And now we take you smack dab in the middle of the Wachovia Center with Michael Cole, Tazz and Good Ol' JR.

2F8RN0e.pngJcOVW7O.pngrtGzZut.png

Michael Cole: Thanks guys and here in this ring, the Royal Rumble will take place live on PPV where 30 superstars will enter and one will leave the winner, who will challenge one of the two champions at WrestleMania 20!

JR: We got 15 of the best from RAW and 15 of the best from SmackDown, this one is truly going to be a slobberknocker as we get on the road to WrestleMania!

Tazz: You said it best, JR! Main event of WrestleMania is what this is all about, baby! And here's an interesting fact for you all - not one competitor in tonight's Rumble has EVER won a Royal Rumble before. We're guaranteed a new Rumble winner!

Cole: And with all that is on the line, partner, what in the world do you have to do to win a Royal Rumble match?!

Tazz: Ah so you want to know the keys to victory? Well let me give you three keys to winning the Royal Rumble match! Number one, stay out of sight and out of mind! Blend in and keep yourself from being a target, especially when you're in the early parts of this one. Two, it's all about stamina! This match is guaranteed to go on for at least 45 minutes! And that's just until the last entrant enters the ring! You better be conditioned if you want to go the distance. And lastly, hey, it doesn't take a mathematician to tell you this, guys. The higher the number, the better your chances. It's all about your positioning in this one!

JR: And folks, we know two numbers going into this Rumble contest - Chris Benoit will be the first entrant. And Goldberg, by God, will be the final entrant!

gBUbAru.pngRWZeGLA.png

Jonathan Coachman: Folks, we are so close to showtime here, what are you waiting for?! Call your satellite or cable provider right now to order the Royal Rumble. And now when you purchase the Royal Rumble, you can get 8 sets of Fleer WrestleMania 20 trading cards, showing off some of the best WrestleMania moments of all time. 40 cards in all, get yours now by ordering the Royal Rumble right now. And speaking of WrestleMania moments, I have to ask Al Snow, what is yours?

Al Snow: Oh I'd have to say last year when the Miller Light Cat Fight Girls depantsed you in front of Safeco Field!

Jonathan Coachman: Oh good one, Snowman! But on the subject of cat fights.... let's talk about the WWE Women's Championship match for a moment.

Al Snow: Whoa, whoa! Wait a minute now. Let's not associate Molly Holly with catfighting, that might make her a little angry.

Jonathan Coachman: Hey, doing nothing of the sort, partner! Nevertheless, we have an epic fatal four way coming to you live at the Royal Rumble tonight as Molly Holly puts her WWE Women's Championship on the line against three of WWE's top Diva's. And Molly doesn't even have to be pinned to lose her belt here!

Al Snow: Jazz, Trish Stratus and Lita. All three are former Women's champions and all three want that title back bad! I don't like Molly's chances here one bit.

Jonathan Coachman: Definitely going to be a challenge for her but you have to wonder... is Chris Jericho going to be watching this match closely?

Al Snow: Oh you mean the future Mr. Stratus?!

Jonathan Coachman: I mean.... in his dreams, sure! The, uh, shall we say dysfunctional relationship between Chris Jericho and Trish Stratus seems to have come to a screeching halt after Chris Jericho was tricked by Garrison Cade and Mark Jindrak into thinking Trish wanted... a little alone time.

Al Snow: And all Jericho ended up getting was a squirt of shampoo in the eyes!

Jonathan Coachman: Guess it could have been worse in a shower setting!

Al Snow: Oh man, don't go there!

Jonathan Coachman: Hey let's take it over to Funaki and Terri as they have another draw coming your way! Let's check it out!

RTOrw8v.pngfLFeOi3.pngvH7SjUk.png

Booker T: Tell me.... tell me I didn't just pick that! Suckas!

Booker T walks out of the room shaking his head. Funaki quickly shoves his mic in Booker T's mouth.

Booker T: Man get that stick out of my face, punk!

Funaki retreats as Terri calmly steps forward.

Terri: Hold on, Booker T.... how did it go in there? You don't look too happy.

Booker T: You damn right I don't look happy! But it don't matter, y'heard me? Life's about hurdles and I'mma jump over every single one, dig? If this is the number I'm stuck with, well that just skippy, hippy! Because no matter what, I'm winning this Royal Rumble and I'm going on to WrestleMania. Now can you dig THAT, sucka?!

Booker T wobbles his head at his hand slightly before walking off.

Back from commercial, we're greeted to Josh Matthews and Bill DeMott, still standing at the interview set for the Royal Rumble.

Bill DeMott: Hey Josh, who are some of the best Royal Rumble winners of all time?

Josh Matthews: Well let's see.... Stone Cold Steve Austin, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels. How about Yokozuna?

Bill DeMott: Good shouts, but you're missing the best one!

Josh Matthews: The Rock?

Bill DeMott: Warmer!

Josh Matthews: Our current WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar?

Bill DeMott: Come on, Josh! You're forgetting Mr. McMahon himself, who won the 1999 Royal Rumble! Didn't go on to WrestleMania to wrestle for the belt sadly, but still quite a moment in Rumble history!

Josh Matthews: I would certainly say that was one of the most surprising moments in the Royal Rumble's history of all time! But we won't have to worry about Mr. McMahon winning the Rumble this year as he's tied up in a.... surprising match here at the Royal Rumble when he takes on my former Velocity colleague, Ernest "The Cat" Miller.

Bill DeMott: The Cat believes he is the greatest of all time and puts a lot of blame on McMahon as well as Sable and Torrie Wilson for holding him back from having a grand debut! But all Cat has been remembered for is a kick between the legs from Vince McMahon himself!

Josh Matthews: Miller is not backing down from the boss and wants to challenge him one on one to prove who really is the greatest of all time when Ernest Miller takes on Vince McMahon live on PPV at the Royal Rumble. And if you haven't ordered yet, there's still time left! Please call your satellite or cable provider and ask about the Fleer trading card set where you can relive some of WrestleMania's greatest moments, collect all 40 by ordering now!

We cut back to the RAW announcer's table where Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler, headsets ready, welcome us.

JR: Good evening again ladies and gentlemen and we thank you for welcoming us into your home tonight on Spike TV for a very special Sunday Night Heat, the preshow into tonight's Royal Rumble! King, a big show we have for you tonight - one of which involves you! But let's first get into some ring action here on Heat!

<div style="padding: 5px; border: 4px solid #000000; margin:10px;background: #b36200; max-width:670px;box-shadow: 0 4px 8px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2), 0 6px 20px 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.19); background-image:url();background-position:center;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-size:contain;">

Royal Rumble's Heat match features an inter-promotional Cruiserweight contest between Tajiri and The Hurricane. The two high flyers keep things relatively even, knowing each other well from Hurricane's time on SmackDown years prior. Kyo Dai silently stand outside during this one, hands neatly folded in front of them the entire time, never involving themselves into the match. But ultimately, they wouldn't need to as despite Hurricane's best efforts, Tajiri was able to put him away with a Buzzsaw Kick, nearly knocking the mask off his face.

Winner: Tajiri @ 6:04 (58)

</div>

JR: Tajiri and SmackDown pull off the victory here tonight, getting the best of our very own Hurricane. And you have to wonder if that's a sign of things to come in the Royal Rumble as the very best of RAW take on the very best of SmackDown!

King: Not if I have anything to do with it, JR!

Re5LIKR.png

JR: It only comes one time a year, King! The Royal Rumble match, 30 tremendous superstars, one man will walk out the winner. And this is your match, King! Are you ready?

King: I'm ready, alright! You know, I joined this match on a whim, but I'm really fired up for this JR!

JR: What do you think about your number?

King: Well... my real one is a quite a bit higher. Haha!

JR: Nevertheless, King, this Royal Rumble is packed with some of the top superstars from both brands. And as always, lots of individual stories build up the drama of what the Royal Rumble is all about. Just about every man in this match has a mission they're trying to accomplish out there.

King: Well of course! And my mission is to win the Royal Rumble!

DznS4AO.png

JR: Well if you DO win the Royal Rumble, King, you may just have to face one of these two tough guys at WrestleMania! The WWE Championship is on the line as Brock Lesnar defends against Hardcore Holly. By God, what a slobberknocker this is going to be!

King: Hardcore Holly has vowed to break Brock Lesnar's neck! I don't know JR, with that tree trunk under Brock's head, you think Hardcore could really do it?!

JR: You never doubt Bob Holly on anything, King. All I know is one thing, this match is going to be bowling shoe ugly and neither man is going to go down without a fight.

uHRM6mS.png

King: And oh man, what about this one, JR?! I really think we're going to see the Dudley Boyz go right through a table here tonight!

JR: Bubba and D-Von specifically requested a tables match here tonight as their blood feud with Evolution comes to a boil! That deranged animal Batista and the "dirtiest player in the game" himself, Ric Flair, will defend against the Dudley Boyz. And by God is this going to be a car crash.

bNwFwoY.png

King: Speaking of tag team titles, take a look at these freaks on the SmackDown side of things!

JR: The Basham Brothers are an unique tag team to say the least. I don't have much of an opinion to offer about their lifestyle choice but I will say they are two tough young men who love to brawl. And they've beaten some elite teams in their short time in the WWE, King.

King: I don't know JR, these guys strike me as the kind that might like being in the ring with Rikishi's big behind! Waaaah!

JR: And that may be true, but Scotty and Rikishi's longtime friendship and experience together may be the comeuppance they need to take the titles off the Bashams.

ZTlKrn3.png

JR: Well we just saw some high flying cruiserweight action here on Heat just a moment ago, but the main prize is on the line at the PPV when Rey Mysterio defends against Nunzio! What a contest that's going to be, King.

King: These cruiserweights are so hard to keep up with, JR! And Rey Mysterio is probably the quickest one there is! But I think those Full Blooded Italians have a trick or two up their sleeve for this one.

JR: Nunzio is certainly a con artist and I'd be surprised Stamboli and Palumbo keep their noses out of this one.

dcqFOcQ.png

King: Wahoo! It's the puppy bowl, JR!

JR: A Fatal Four Way match for the WWE Women's Championship, what a match this is going to be! Molly Holly put herself in this situation and she's going to have to work extra hard to keep her title.... she doesn't even need to be pinned here tonight, King!

King: I think Molly Holly is in a lot of trouble here tonight, JR! And I got a feeling that Stratusfaction will be 100% guaranteed tonight as we see that title go right back to where it belongs!

JR: Jazz, Lita and Trish are all former WWE Women's Champions! This is certainly going to be one of the most competitive Diva matches we've ever seen, King!

gHHqWG5.png

JR: Well, King, we've seen a lot of Mr. McMahon on PPV throughout this year, but this is one match I never expected to see on PPV. Vince McMahon vs. Ernest "The Cat" Miller.

King: This match is supposed to determine the greatest of all time!? We already know who that is! And that is Mr. McMahon, JR! He put WCW out of business, he buried the Undertaker and hey, on the subject of the Royal Rumble, he won one of those too!

JR: An interesting contest to say the least on the SmackDown side of things, but Ernest Miller is a three time karate champion and I'm sure he'll have no problem reminding you of that should you ever forget!

rclYVx9.png

King: Oh man.

JR: And our headline act here, to say the least folks, two of the greatest in our current generation battle for the World Heavyweight Championship and the right to go into WrestleMania as defending champion. Two former best friends, men who could be considered brothers, now bitter enemies. This one is going to be brutal, it's going to be bloody, by God, it's going to be a slobberknocker.

King: I'll be the first to admit that Shawn Michaels has been tremendous since returning from retirement, but Triple H has been RAW's greatest and most dominate champion! And I just don't see Triple H letting himself lose that championship this close to the grandest stage of them all, JR!

JR: I think you're right about one thing, King, and that's Triple H is going to do everything possible to put Shawn Michaels down for the count. And he will have to put out all the stops do this. Whatever the case may be, King, only one man will be left standing and we will find out once and for all who the better man is between these two. Folks, the Royal Rumble is starting in 60 seconds!

King: What a show this is going to be! You're not going to want to miss this one!

JR: Folks this is your last chance to order the Royal Rumble, live on PPV! Call your local satellite or cable company right now! And from here, we stay here live in the Wachovia Center, but sign off Spike TV. The Royal Rumble begins right now on PPV! By God!
