NWA/TNA: Starting in January 2004

Recommended Posts

It was Jan. 2004, and the time was right for TNA to make the jump to television. The weekly PPVs just weren't enough. The fans wanted more. I will be running this dynasty as myself, from my point of view. It will be the same as all my other dynasties, and I hope to have graphics up soon. Right now I'm in a fight with photobucket about being able to use their site, so if anybody knows a quick easy way to do graphics, let me know.

I have vacated all titles, storylines, stables, etc. I will be looking for a tv contract as soon as possible, but first I have an event schedule for Sun. Week 1 of January. It will be called TNA Hard Luck. It will be the equivalent of the old WCW Battlebowl. I'll have 40 wrestlers drawn at random for 10 tag team matches. The winners of the tag matches will advance to a 20 man battle royal. The winner of the battle royal will be the new TNA champion.

I'm not going to reveal the roster because I'm making changes to it. I hope to have TNA Hard Luck posted tomorrow or Tuesday. Stay tuned!

I've never used Imgur before, don't know much about it actually. How does it work compared to Photobucket? Can you walk me through?

I'm going to run NWA/TNA Hard Luck tomorrow, but it won't have graphics.

Imgur is great. Go sign up at https://imgur.com, then you can upload images or drag and drop them. To use an image on GDS...

1. Click your profile picture/icon on Imgur and select Images from the drop-down.

2. Click on the image you want to use

3. Right-Click the image and copy the image link

Great resource and good luck with the diary!

NWA/TNA Hard Luck

Sunday, Week 1, 2004

A La Carte Event Pavillion- Tampa, FL

Show Announcers: Mike Tenay and Don West

Show Attendance: 1,655

The show opens with NWA/TNA Commisioner Dusty Rhodes welcoming everybody to the first 3 hour NWA/TNA Event. He promises exciting things for NWA/TNA, and gives a short preview of the events for tonight, of which there are some very, very interesting match-ups. (66)

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Jerry Lynn and D'Lo Brown defeated Simon Diamond and Kevin Northcutt in 6:54 when Jerry Lynn pinned Simon Diamond with a Cradle Piledriver. (57)

In a decent match, Ron Killings and Kid Kash defeated BG James and Abyss in 12:24 when Kid Kash pinned Abyss with a Dead Level. (55)

After the match, it looked like Killings and James were going to go at it, getting face to face, but James extended his hand and Killings shook it. James then wished Killings good luck in the 20 man Battle Royal tonight. (47)

In a decent match, The New Franchise Shane Douglas and Michael Shane defeated James Storm and Johnny Swinger in 7:45 when Shane Douglas submitted James Storm with a Figure Four Leglock. (50)

In a decent match, Don Harris and Christopher Daniels defeated 2 Cold Scorpio and Elix Skipper in 10:58 when Christopher Daniels pinned Elix Skipper with a Last Rites. (50)

In a decent match, Jeff Jarrett and Apolo defeated Chris Sabin and Buff Bagwell in 9:53 when Apolo pinned Chris Sabin with a TKO. (53)

In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Konnan and Chris Harris defeated David Young and Julio Dinero in 6:16 when Konnan submitted David Young with a Tequila Sunrise. (47)

With CM Punk wrestling next, he rushed to the ring and helped Dinero beat up on Young before Konnan and Harris came back to the ring to save Young. (42)

In a superb match, CM Punk and AJ Styles defeated Ken Shamrock and Roddy Piper in 7:31 when CM Punk submitted Ken Shamrock with an Anaconda Vice. (64)

In a decent match, Raven and Perry Saturn defeated Ekmo and Erik Watts in 10:03 when Raven pinned Erik Watts with an Evenflow DDT. (56)

After the match, Raven got on the mic and tried to convince Saturn to restart The Flock with him, but Saturn shook his head no, clearly wanting no part of that. (53)

In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Sonny Siaki and Low-Ki defeated Shark Boy and Sonjay Dutt in 12:39 when Sonny Siaki pinned Sonjay Dutt with a Siakalypse Now. (39)

In a decent match, Glenn Gilberti and Legend defeated The Sandman and Slash in 7:42 when Legend pinned The Sandman with a Piledriver. (45)

Backstage, Jeremy Borash had unfortunate news that D'Lo Brown had suffered a serious injury and was out of the Battle Royal. NWA/TNA Commissioner Dusty Rhodes had done a drawing and Buff Bagwell would be taking Brown's spot. (36)

In a decent match, Jerry Lynn won a battle royal in 33:29. The other members of the 'final four' were Jeff Jarrett, Shane Douglas and Buff Bagwell, with Jeff Jarrett being the final elimination. Buff Bagwell got the most eliminations over the course of the match. Jerry Lynn wins the TNA title. (66)

Final Show Rating: 60

-- This is actually the format I'll be using for the tv shows, not the big events or PPVs (when we actually get a PPV contract). I just wanted to use this format for this show because I wanted to get it in today.

-- Unfortunately the news on D'Lo Brown is not good. He suffered a Torn Achilles in his match and will have surgery. He is expected to be out 8 months, a big blow.

-- Ken Shamrock is not happy that I booked CM Punk and AJ Styles to go over him and Roddy Piper. The reasoning is quite simple: Shamrock signed an exclusive written contract with NJPW and will be leaving the company in a month. With Piper being an occasional wrestler, it didn't make sense to have him and Shamrock win, especially with Punk and Styles having a world of potential.

-- The crowning of Jerry Lynn as TNA champion (not NWA, just TNA, the NWA title is currently vacant), might surprise some, but Lynn is a guy that I think has worked his butt off in his career, and I think he deserved a title run. Don't know how long it'll be, but he definitely deserved to be on top for a while anyways.

-- Speaking of the difference between the NWA and TNA titles, NWA/TNA is part of the NWA alliance with several other companies. The NWA title is an alliance title, and I wanted NWA/TNA to have their own set of titles. It might be easier to leave the NWA alliance, but it will be beneficial based on some things I have planned. In fact, while we will remain in the NWA alliance, we are dropping the NWA/TNA name and will just be known as Total Nonstop Action going forward.

TNA has secured a 9 month contract with Urban America to not only televise all big events but also to televise the television program TNA Fury! The show will be taped on Wednesday nights and will air on Thursday afternoon.

In further news, TNA ownership has announced an 8 man TNA X-Division Title Tournament and an 8 team TNA Tag Team Title Tournament, both to start on this weeks episode of TNA Fury! The next 2 weeks of TNA Fury! will have 2 quarterfinal matches in each tournament, and the 3rd week of TNA Fury! will have the semifinals of each tournament. Here are the quarterfinal pairings:

TNA X-Division Title Tournament

Chris Sabin vs. Elix Skipper

Ron Killings vs. Kid Kash

AJ Styles vs. Sonjay Dutt

2 Cold Scorpio vs. Super Crazy

**Super Crazy was just signed to a handshake agreement**

TNA Tag Team Title Tournament

3 Live Kru (Konnan and BG James) vs. Disciples of the New Church (Sinn and Slash)

America's Most Wanted vs. Samoan Connection (Sonny Siaki and Ekmo)

The New Franchise vs. Triple X (Chris Daniels and Low-Ki)

The Gathering (CM Punk and Julio Dinero) vs. Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger

I am going to run a prediction contest that will be broken down into 2 separate contests each year: January-June and July-December. I'm still working on prizes and in addition to some of the special events I have, I'm considering doing a team challenge series for one of the 6 month periods. So here's what we're gonna do to kick this prediction contest off.

For each of the 2 tournaments, please tell me who you think the 2 finalists will be (2 points each) and the winner (6 points). So you can get a total of 10 points for each tournament in addition to the regular event predictions. This is a great way to jump ahead. So get those predictions in.

TNA Fury!

Wednesday, Week 2, Jan. 2004

Ft. Lauderdale Armory - Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Show Announcers: Mike Tenay and Don West

Show Attendance: 401

The show started with Jeremy Borash in the ring interviewing new TNA champion Jerry Lynn. Before the interview could really get going, Jeff Jarrett interrupted, claiming he was robbed of the title and that he should have won the battle royal. Tempers flared as security quickly got in the ring to break things up. (37)

In a TNA Tag Team Title Tournament quarterfinal match, BG James and Konnan defeated Sinn and Slash. (47)

In a TNA X-Division Title Tournament quarterfinal match, Elix Skipper defeated Chris Sabin. (53)

Backstage, Raven sought out Perry Saturn and tried to explain to him why the Flock should be rebuilt. Saturn wanted nothing to do with it and walked away from Raven. (39)

In a TNA Tag Team Title Tournament quarterfinal match, America's Most Wanted defeated Samoan Connection. (48)

In a TNA X-Division Title Tournament quarterfinal match, Ron Killings defeated Kid Kash. (63)

Final Show Rating: 53

Not a bad show, as per usual I'm not worried so much about ratings (other than to keep TNA on tv) because I'm not interested in the company growing bigger than medium. Right now it's at small. I realize I may have to make changes to shows based on who is available, since most nights there is part of the roster working elsewhere. I'll cross that bridge when it comes. For now, I'm happy.

  • 3 weeks later...

Just an update, I haven't abandoned this dynasty. I started a new semester of classes and I've been looking for a job, plus trying to get caught up on some things around the house, so this dynasty has stalled for the moment. It is going to be a slow moving dynasty, with probably just 1-2 shows a week, until I figure out how to manage my time better.

That being said, another reason I've stalled this project is because I'm having trouble with graphics. I can't get imgur to work right, and photobucket can be a major pain in the butt. I'd like to incorporate at least some basic graphics because well.. it just looks better. So if anybody can actually go in details and show me how to use imgur, or if anybody has an idea besides imgur or photobucket, let me know. Otherwise, it's back to paying for photobucket.

Also if anybody wants to make predictions for the tournaments, please do so. I'm still hoping to have a prediction contest, but it's not a necessity. Any comments or questions or predictions are appreciated though.

TNA Fury!

Wednesday, Week 3, Jan. 2004

Ft. Lauderdale Armory - Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Show Announcers: Mike Tenay and Don West

Show Attendance: 427

zAMxCkp.png

As the show opens, Jeremy Borash announces that 2 Cold Scorpio and Triple X are not there tomorrow and have been removed from their respective tournaments. In their place, Shark Boy will take on Super Crazy and Young and Gilbertti will take on The New Franchise

Eee2C30.png

In a TNA Tag Team Title Tournament Match, The Gathering defeated Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger.

XjOUKuD.png

In a TNA X-Division Title Tournament match, Super Crazy defeated Shark Boy in 12:12 by pinfall with a Crazy Bomb.

9DFnwT2.png

Buff Bagwell came out to the ring to request a TNA Title shot against Jerry Lynn reminding everybody that he had the most eliminations in the Battle Royal. Jeff Jarrett interrupted and said that Buff was old news and that this was Jeff Jarrett's company. Before the 2 could come to blows, TNA Commissioner Dusty Rhodes coming out and saying he would make a decision next week on Fury, and that if either Buff or Jarrett laid a hand on the other, they would be suspended.

Y04p3XL.png

In a TNA Tag Team Title Tournament match, The New Franchise defeated Gilbertti and Young in 10:57 when Michael Shane pinned David Young with a Picture Perfect Elbow Drop.

OaWkedp.png

In a TNA X-Division Title Tournament match, AJ Styles defeated Sonjay Dutt in 14:41 by pinfall with a Styles Clash.

I decided that unless someone really wants to see ratings for the matches and shows, I'm going to forgo that right now as that isn't a focus of this dynasty.

Of course the entire card had to be changed since Scorpio and Christopher Daniels weren't available. I feel I'm going to be doing a lot of changing things on the fly.

What do you guys think of the graphics? I wish I knew a way to make them bigger, if they are hard to see, I'll continue to work on them, but I think the graphics alone make the dynasty look better.

I'm going on a road agent hiring spree as right now almost all my road agents are also active wrestlers, and I don't want that.

Again, any comments, questions, concerns? Let me know.

I was an idiot and did not read that you just wanted the finalist and winners for the tournament.:o Plus some of the matches already had happened.

Sorry about that...

X Division Finals: AJ Styles vs. Ron Killings with AJ winning the title.

Tag Team Finals: 3 Live Kru vs. The New Franchise with 3 Live Kru winning the titles.

As for the addition of the graphics, I think it looked good. I can see them perfectly fine, there is a way to make them bigger if you want I will PM you as to not bog your diary down with that stuff. I would say that I wonder if the pictures and the text might look better if you center them.

As far as Scorpio and Daniels not being available, I really do not think it is that big of a deal. It is TNA after all so you should always expect the unexpected.

Match ratings have always been a non-factor to me. If they are there cool, if not then it not really a big deal to me.

I have your predictions down, so far you're the only one to have predicted, thanks for that. Will be hard to have a prediction contest without more predictions lol. But maybe the further along I get in the dynasty, the more I'll have. I do have a bad habit of abandoning projects, hopefully I can stick with this one.

If you think the graphics are big enough, I'll leave them as is. I think I know how to center everything, but if you want to PM me and tell me how, just so that we're on the same page.

Unfortunately, with so many wrestlers being unavailable on different days, there isn't a great day to hold my shows. I have a feeling I'm going to have to do a lot of booking on the fly. If I do, so be it.

I hope to have another show up tomorrow, if all goes well.

TNA News and Notes

-- TNA has signed Mike Rotunda and Greg Valentine as road agents. The hiring of these 2 veterans should really help the company.

-- TNA founder Jeff Jarrett has created the TNA Network! It will be a free to air internet site with very small coverage throughout the United States.

-- Jarrett wanted the TNA Network so that the company would have a place for their second show, TNA Xplosion! It will be a B show, 1 hour long, which will take place after TNA Fury and will be shown on the TNA Network on Friday afternoon. TNA Xplosion will make its debut in February.

-- TNA ownership has worked out an agreement with the National Wrestling Alliance to hold a PPV once a year in which all TNA and NWA titles will be defended. For this year, the PPV is set to take place this coming Sunday, January Week 4. The finals of the TNA Tag Team Title and TNA X-Division Title Tournaments will be held, as well as a TNA Title match. Also, the NWA World Heavyweight Title, the NWA World Tag Team Title, the NWA World Women's Title, and the NWA Junior Heavyweight Title will be defended. It is said that the 4 NWA title matches will be triple threat matches.

Backstage, Jeremy Borash interviewed Jerry Lynn regarding his thoughts on who he wants to face at NWA/TNA Gold Rush. Lynn said he doesn't care if it's Buff Bagwell or Jeff Jarrett. In fact, he would take them both on if that's what TNA wants. Borash ended the interview by saying TNA Comissioner Dusty Rhodes would have a decision later tonight.

xMOGadO.png

In a TNA X-Division Title Tournament match, AJ Styles defeated Super Crazy in 7:44 by pinfall with a Styles Clash.

In a TNA X-Division Title Tournament match, Elix Skipper defeated Ron Killings in 9:46 by pinfall.

Dusty Rhodes went to the ring and called out both Buff Bagwell and Jeff Jarrett. He said that it was a tough decision, but he decided to give the TNA Title shot at NWA/TNA Gold rush to Buff Bagwell. Jarrett was infuriated, getting in Dustys face while Buff taunted Jarrett. Dusty told Jarrett he better think real hard about what happened next, because Jarrett was the last NWA champion before the title was vacated. It was only right that Jarrett fight for that title, so he will be in the NWA Title match at NWA/TNA Gold Rush. Both men looked happy about the decisions made by the commish.

YQUAqAp.png

In a TNA Tag Team Tounament Match, 3 Live Kru defeated America's Most Wanted in 14:40 when BG James pinned James Storm with a Dogg Pound.

I definitely like centering the text and graphics better, I think I'm going to keep it that way.
