TNA 2004: Taking it to the Next Level

Recommended Posts

Welcome to my first attempt at a diary. I bought TEW 2020 a few months ago now and have been loving it. I'm enjoying the game and also enjoying reading through the different diaries on here. I started a game with TNA using the Ruthless Aggression 2004 mod. As I got going on the game this one inspired me to make this my first attempt at a diary on here as I have really enjoyed how things have been playing out so far.

With this being my first diary I would love any and all feedback you may have for me along the way. Things may be pretty basic as far as formatting just because that isn't my forte, but hopefully you enjoy reading along...

<p><span style="font-family:Fixedsys;"><strong><span style="font-size:18px;"><span style="color:#FF0000;">SETTING THE STAGE</span></span></strong></span></p><p> </p><p>

In a small conference room we find a meeting taking place between the President of TNA Wrestling, Dixie Carter, and the two lead members of the booking committee for the company, Dusty Rhodes and Terry Taylor. Dixie is doing the speaking as Dusty and Terry listen intently…</p><p> </p><p>

“If we want to separate ourselves from the pack of independent wrestling companies out there and someday pose ourselves as a legitimate threat to the WWE, we have to make some changes to our current practices.”</p><p> </p><p>

Taylor begins to suggest that chasing down the WWE shouldn’t be on TNA’s radar at this point, but he is cut off by Carter.</p><p> </p><p>

“I’m not under any kind of false presumption that we’re going to take the top spot from Vince anytime soon. But if we’re not striving towards that and trying to at least put ourselves on their radar then what are we doing here?”</p><p> </p><p>

Neither man says anything, though they both look like they may have some thoughts on the matter. Dixie continues and begins to layout her plans.</p><p> </p><p>

“It’s time for us to stand on our own. We aren’t going to completely leave the alliance of organizations, but we are going to be dropping the NWA from our name and strictly go by TNA at this point. We will be creating our own World Championship and Tag Team Championship Titles to go with the X Division Championship. Because Jeff Jarrett and 3 Live Kru have been defending the NWA Titles on our shows, they will be the inaugural champions.”</p><p> </p><p>

“The next part of moving forward is getting more eyes on our product, which means a regular TV show that people don’t have to pay for. It’s not anything earth shattering, but we’ve signed an agreement with Urban America to show a weekly two hour show that will be called TNA Impact. We will then be putting on a lesser show featuring some of our younger talent once a week as well which will air in syndication.”</p><p> </p><p>

Dusty speaks up at this point…</p><p> </p><p>

“I don’t know if we have enough talent for a weekly show, especially when a lot of our talent doesn’t work exclusively for us.”</p><p> </p><p>

Of course Dixie has an answer ready to go.</p><p> </p><p>

“This is why we will be adding more talent over the next few months. I have hired some extra scouts to find some hidden gems, and we are going to be making a push for some more well known names as well that we can possibly sign exclusively.”</p><p> </p><p>

“The other thing we need is an on-air presence to be seen as the one steering the ship. A big name who can draw a lot of extra eyes to our shows just by his presence.”</p><p> </p><p>

Dusty starts to look offended by the comments which Dixie can sense…</p><p> </p><p>

“There’s no need for hurt feelings here Dusty. You’ve made it clear aren’t interested in an ongoing or exclusive on-screen position. So with that, we have brought in our new on-screen commissioner and also new head of this booking committee, Randy Savage.”</p><p> </p><p>

“It’s time for TNA to move forward and that’s what we’re going to do.”</p>

TNA Impact!

Wednesday, Week 1 of January 2004

Orlando, FL – Universal Sound Stage 21

***Pyrotechnics go off on the stage and we are welcomed to the first ever episode of Total Nonstop Wrestling Impact! The camera pans to the announce table where Mike Tenay is seated with Don West and Scott Hudson hyping up the big names we are expected to see tonight on this monumental episode.***

The announce team’s intro is interrupted by the sounds of pomp and circumstance blasting through the PA System and the crowd whips into a frenzy as the following pops up onto the titantron:

“Macho Man” Randy Savage enters the ring and it takes a minute before the crowd quiets for him to speak. Savage talks about how it’s a pleasure to kickoff the first ever episode of TNA Impact and how fans should expect big things, because The Macho Man is the new and official commissioner of TNA Wrestling! Macho Man talks about how the inmates have been running the asylum in TNA lately, but the playing field is about to get leveled with The Macho Man in charge! (100)

Red Shirt Security (Kevin Northcutt and Legend) def. America’s Most Wanted (James Storm and Chris Harris) via Pinfall in 11:30

While the team of James Storm and Chris Harris spent much of the match in charge of the action the presence of Don Callis at ringside with Red Shirt Security helped even the playing field. Callis ultimately cause the distraction to the referee that led to the finish when Northcutt hit a lowblow on Harris and Legend finished him with The Red Alert. (41)

In the back Jeff Jarrett has wasted no time trying to smooth talk the new boss. Jarrett is explaining to Macho Man why Sting shouldn’t be anywhere near a title shot because of his recent actions against him. Macho Man explains that Jarrett is too late because he’s already booked a number one contender match for tonight’s main event where it will be Sting vs. Shane Douglas vs. Raven vs. A.J. Styles for a shot at the title at TNA Final Resolution later this month. (72)

Glenn Gilberti def. Shark Boy via Pinfall in 7:39

It wasn’t a pretty match, but another of Jeff Jarrett’s cronies gets a win here as Gilberti scores a three count on a rollup with his feet on the ropes unbeknownst to the referee. (38)

Backstage we find Gilberti fresh off a win giving the team of Johnny Swinger and Simon Diamond a pep talk. Neither man looks too impressed by the speech as these three have been at odds for the last few weeks now. (25)

X-DIVISON TITLE MATCH

Michael Shane def. Christopher Daniels and Jerry Lynn via Pinfall in 13:30 to retain the X-Division Title

In a match full of big spots as is the trademark of the X-Division, Daniels put on a real show and looked like he was moments away from winning on multiple occasions, but kept coming up short. At the end of things though Shane was able to capitalize on a missed aerial attack from Daniels and then land his superkick to Jerry Lynn to the get win. (61)

Backstage we find a sullen Raven in a dark room. Raven laments the fact that he took CM Punk and Julio Dinero under his wing and they turned on him. Raven promises that his attention on tonight’s main event, but he makes a promise to The Gathering that he will be getting revenge and it won’t be pleasant. (55)

D’Lo Brown def. CM Punk via Pinfall in 8:22

The match is very back and forth with the young CM Punk proving he does in fact belong in the ring with a veteran like D’Lo Brown. CM Punk lays Brown and looks as though he may be in position to move in for the kill when the music of Raven starts playing. A panicked CM Punk looks around waiting for Raven’s arrival, and ends up eating a kick to the gut and powerbomb followed by the Lo Down and the 1-2-3. (53)

TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

3 Live Kru (Konnan and BG James) def. Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger via pinfall in 10:27 to retain the TNA Tag Team Championship

The early success of the Jeff Jarrett followers does not continue here for Diamond and Swinger. While the duo was able to get some offense in, particularly Simon Diamond, Konnan and BG James were squelching the momentum each time. In an attempt to change the tide Glenn Gilberti who was at ringside jumped on to the apron at one point with the referee busy yelling at Johnny Swinger. Gilberti had one of the tag titles and went to hit Konnan with it. Konnan ducked under it and the belt clocked Simon Diamond knocking him out and giving Konnan the easy pin. (54)

There wasn’t much time to celebrate though for BG James and Konnan. No sooner did the bell ring to end the match and Red Shirt Security was in the ring and laid the 3 Live Kru out. Kevin Northcutt yelled at them that there time was almost up now while Legend stomped away on both of the wrestlers. (36)

Sting def. Shane Douglas, A.J. Styles and Raven via submission at 19:40

The first main event of TNA Impact! was a crowd pleaser for sure. All four men had shining moments in the match though it was Sting who carried the match through much of it. A.J. Styles did land a couple of near falls in the match that had the crowd on the edge of their seats. At the end of the match The Gathering came to the ring and pulled Raven out, effectively eliminating him from the match. Inside the ring A.J. Styles was able to take out Shane Douglas with his finisher, but before he could capitalize Sting had grabbed him from behind and hit the Scorpion Death Drop. Sting then locked in the Scorpion Death Lock on a prone Douglas to earn a tap out win to become the number one contender for the TNA World Title (73)

After the match Jeff Jarrett hits the ring immediately with Abyss and Kid Kash in tow to get the upperhand on Sting right away. Jarrett directs the show as Abyss and Kid Kash team up to lay Sting out. Before it can get any further though A.J. Styles comes to the rescue clearing Abyss and Kid Kash out and yelling at Jarrett to come get some as he smugly backs up the ramp with a grin on his face. Styles helps Sting to his feet as TNA Impact goes off the air. (61)

OOC: I won't be going into as much detail with my TNA Xplosion shows as they are a 'B' Show and meant to just get more talent on air and push along some storylines. These shows are taped on Wednesday when I do Impact as well and so they will always have the same venue and attendance amount.

TNA Xpolosion

Saturday, Week 1 of January 2004

Orlando, FL - Universal Sound Stage 21

Mike Tenay and Don West are on the announce team for tonight's one hour weekly show. Tenay and West open the show discussing the happenings from this past Wednesday's Impact in which we saw Sting become the number one contender to Jeff Jarrett's World Championship.

As the two are discussing this the camera feed cuts backstage where we find The Sandman cutting up with some of the other wrestlers in the company. Sandman cracks a joke about Abyss being Jeff Jarrett's BDSM play thing and Abyss takes considerable offense. The group of guys around the scene have to separate the two men. The Sandman shouts over the fray that if Abyss wants some he can come get it in the ring later tonight. Abyss just grunts while turning away and flipping over a table that had a couple of water jugs. (34)

Chris Sabin def. Low-Ki, Sonny Siaki and Julio Dinero in 9:49 via Pinfall

Chris Sabin wins an X-Division showcase match that wasn't great, but did have some impressive spots mixed in, especially from Low-Ki who looked the best despite not winning. Sabin pinned Siaki after a swanton bomb. (34)

James Mitchell comes to the ring flanked by his disciples, Sinn and Slash. Mitchell rants about how tonight is the start of his disciples ascension to the top of the tag division and the first sacrifices for glory will be thw Black Shirt Security. (19)

Disciples of the New Church (Sinn and Slash) def. Black Shirt Security (Rick Santel and Chris Vaughn) via submission in 7:51

It wasn't pretty, but Sinn and Slash did in fact get the job done. Sinn ultimately forces Santel to tap with a modified boston crab. (23)

The first man to the ring for the next match is Legend, one of Jeff Jarrett's enforcers. Legend goes off on Ron Killings telling the crowd he's going to send a message to Konnan and BG James by taking out their third wheel right here tonight. (35)

Ron Killings def. Legend via Pinfall in 10:34

This was a fairly decent match with good back and forth action from both men. Legend got a nearfall that he thought was three. While arguing with the referee Killings shoved him into the ropes and on the way back hit his patented corkscrew kick for the win. Killings didn't waste time in the ring and for good reason as Legend was livid when he came back to. (52)

Abyss def. The Sandman via Pinfall in 9:57

This was two big bruisers going to war in an all out brawl. It was a bit sloppy at times, but if you like violence you got it here. Ultimately Abyss was able to get the win, and get it cleanly when he hit his Black Hole Slam for the win. (39)

The victory alone wasn't enough, Abyss felt the need to add insult to injury, picking The Sandman up and hitting his finisher a second time before exiting the ring with a maniacal laugh as the show went off the air. (47)

Overall Show Rating: 38

Attendance: 1,400 (Sell Out)

TV Numbers: 0.01 Rating and 13,110 viewers
